Professor Layton Au - Pandora's Call

((I have made an intro post for this au before but it's been a while and things have changed so here we go))

The Pandora's Call Au follows the idea of pairing the games (+ the movie and crossover) and merging them together, combining the stories and mysteries while changing some other story details to fill the gaps left behind.

The namesake of this Au (and the first combination to be created), Pandora's Call is the combination of Pandora's Box and Spectre's Call.

It follows the Professor and his new assistant Emmy as they investigate the Elysian box. They follow its trail to the ghost town Folsense where they must uncover the secrets behind the spectres — two large and formless entities that fight in the streets — the Spirit — a figure commanding the animals of the town into harassing visitors — and the Golden Kingdom — a castle rumoured to be buried beneath Folsense originating from the Azran.

The Black Ravens are instead the Raven's Guild located in Dropstone and while they do participate in the market, they're more so 'adventurers' that oversee most of the travel to the ghost town.

Arianna isn't sick, Tony doesn't dress up as Seamus and Evan Barde doesn't die, they live in Dropstone together peacefully.

Instead of the manatee like creature she is in canon, Loosha is instead a Quetzalcoatlus that flew out of the Golden Kingdom when she was small enough for Luke to hold.

And Luke Triton is instead Lord Luke Herzen, the grandson of Duke Anton Herzen, raised by his grandfather in Folsense with his only contact with the world outside Folsense being when he uses the animals of Folsense to scare away outsiders.

The other game pairings in this Au are as follows:

Eternal Diva + Curious Village — Eternal Village

St Mystere exists on the island of Ambrosia, the looming tower is mixed with Descole's castle and the Whistler and Reinhold families are combined. Flora and Melina are sisters and Melina's consciousness is put into a robot after she dies.

Miracle Mask + PLvsAA — Mysterious Mask

Labyrinthia is its own world accessible through the Akbadain ruins which is where Randall ended up when he fell, the magic is real (but bound to that one area) and the one behind the Masked Gentleman is the Storyteller (Descole isn't in this one due to Dahlia related injuries).

Lost Future + Azran Legacy — Lost Legacy

Mostly follows the plot of Azran Legacy, but Bill Hawks has disappeared in a time machine related incident and someone claiming to be Luke from the future joins them on their journey. Targent makes it to each location first so they have to use a rudimentary time machine that can only go back a few days to let them collect the eggs first. Also Clive is Luke's half brother, though he has to wear a purple wig to cover his blonde hair.

I do have some extra details for what happens outside the main 'games' as well, though this post is getting long so I'll put them under the cut for anyone who's interested (sorry it's also pretty long):

Clark and Brenda have been dead for around 10 years by the time Pandora's Call starts (though Brenda isn't quite gone), though Clark's death was confirmed while Brenda went missing on her own accord and was presumed dead

Losing Clark and then Brenda in short succession then only a few years later losing Claire left Hershel in a very bad place, he withdrew more so than before and became more reckless in the cases he'd pursue

After being beaten up by the government, Lucille and Roland were worried about him only having them and his mentor Dr Schrader to support him so Lucille called the Ledore household and asked if they would be willing to check in on Hershel, which they agreed and Henry went to go check on him

It was rocky at first, but Henry reaching out really helped Hershel and the two became friends again, Angela joining them too, though with Monte d'Or they couldn't be there all the time

During Hershel's 'reckless era' Henry would often be the one to come over and make sure he's eating enough and looking after his injuries (both from the government incident and injuries he gets while being reckless)

He has two major injuries around this time, one from before the Government beat down and one that ended his 'reckless era' and made him realise he couldn't keep doing this

The first happened the day Claire died. A young boy ran into the burning building next door to the lab to look for his parents and Hershel ran after him, burning his hands in the process of saving the kid

The second was when he was in a particularly bad place mentally, when he decided to look into the case of Claire's death a second time. He got further with his investigation, but then he was jumped and beat up worse than the first time, severely damaging one of his legs in the process and needing it to be amputated from the knee down (When it heals enough he gets a prosthetic, but he also carries a foldable cane and crutches in case he needs them)

On a brighter note, his reckless era did bring about one good change and that was running into his old 'friend' Paul who had also gotten involved in some shady dealings. After escaping the people Hershel was investigating/Paul was getting even with, they ended up reconnecting (things were a bit more complicated than that but this post is already too long-)

This Au's Hershel is a lot tidier than his canon counterpart, he also tends to collect odd souvenirs from his travels (traits he's picked up from Clark and Brenda, *gestures to 'guy who's nothing but the people he's lost' post*)

He's also a bit quicker to go against law enforcement when they're interfering with his investigations (nothing extreme of course, but he's definitely hidden evidence he hasn't had a chance to observe properly before an inspector could take it away)

And that's all I'll share for now. I have a lot planned for this Au and eventually I want to write a few fics for it too (a multichapter fic for each 'game' and a few oneshots too, though it is a very ambitious project) so we'll see what happens.

Clive and Luke friend pairing with...Eternal Diva AU please?

“Are you okay, Clive?”

Luke’s quiet voice breaks through the pain clouding Clive’s mind. Clive blinks, refocusing his gaze on Luke’s worried face. 

“Oh, I’m fine,” he says lightly, shrugging, not sure whether he’s being sarcastic or not. He immediately regrets the action--pain shoots through his injured arm. Biting his lip, he turns his face away from Luke, disguising his grunt of pain as a cough, and focuses his attention on the professor and Ms. Quatlane.

The two of them are constructing some sort of a helicopter from various parts scattered throughout the shed. Clive watches them with frustration; he should be helping them. He can see exactly how the pieces should fit together in his mind’s eye, and yet, he’s unable to help, his arm hanging uselessly in the sling the professor had wrapped around it only moments before. 

If it wouldn’t hurt too much, he’d laugh at the ridiculousness of this situation. He--the heir to millions of pounds, master of the Dove estate and of a subterranean city, injured and trapped in a tiny garden shed with an opera singer, an archeology professor who’d saved his life years ago and doesn’t even remember him, and a boy who looks eerily like his past self...

“Are you sure?” Luke’s voice cuts through Clive’s racing thoughts once again. “If I can help at all--”

“I already told you that I’m fine.” The words come out more sharply than Clive wanted them to, but, really, why does Luke keep asking? It’s starting to be a little difficult for Clive to assure Luke that, yes, he’s fine, when in reality, he’s in pain, and he’s trapped here, far away from his underground city, and there’s so much work to do in London, and, and…

“And I… I don’t believe you,” Luke says, his voice growing sharper, and Clive almost jumps, blinking at him in shock. “And I don’t just mean about your arm. You were acting stupid. You shouldn’t have tried to save me.”

Clive stares, disbelieving. What’s wrong with him? Is he upset that Clive helped him? “Well,” he says, matching the sharpness in Luke’s voice. “That’s a very nice way to treat someone who saved your life--”

“You know that I can talk to animals.” Luke balls his fists. “You didn’t have to try to save my life.”

What’s wrong with him? “It was a spur-of-the-moment decision.” Clive sits as tall as he can, looking down on Luke with a narrow gaze. He shouldn’t have to defend himself to the kid, but somehow, he feels compelled to. “And you weren’t able to talk to those wolves, obviously. I barely know you; how was I supposed to remember that?” 

As the words come out of his mouth, he realizes how stupid he sounds. Of course he should’ve remembered something so unusual as an ability to talk to animals. But in the moment, he hadn’t thought of that, or of his own safety, or of anything. He’d seen Luke fall, and he’d seen the wolves coming for him, and he’d had to do something. Is that so hard to understand?

“I didn’t want to see you hurt,” he finally says, not knowing how else to justify his actions. “It’s not like I did anything overly reckless.” Suddenly, he wonders. Could Luke feel guilty for what happened to him? “You don’t need to feel bad about it,” he says quickly. “It was my own decision.”

Luke grows silent, turning his face away toward the wall behind him. “But I was the one that tripped,” he says quietly.

 Understanding dawns over him. “Look, Luke,”Clive begins hesitantly. He needs to be gentle. Although he only just met Luke earlier today, it feels as though he’s speaking to his younger self, the boy who’d cried alone at night, blaming himself for what had happened to his parents, and to Constance, and to everyone. “Look, I’m alright. I mean, I didn’t die,” he starts carefully. “And once we solve these puzzles and get off this island, I’m sure this is nothing a hospital visit can’t fix.” 

“But you still shouldn’t have had to help me.” Luke still won’t look him in the eye. “I should’ve been more careful. I should have--”

“Look, don’t bother with the ‘should-haves.’” 

Luke blinks, turning toward him.

 (Are there tears in his eyes?) 

Clive coughs, looking toward the floor. “What matters is the present. And we’re all here, and we’re relatively fine, and we’re going to get off this island, and you’re okay. So I’m happy. And since I’m the injured party, and I’m not upset, you don’t have to be, either.”

“Why aren’t you upset?” 

Clive wonders about this. In some ways, he is upset. He didn’t plan to go so far from London, he didn’t plan to be stranded on an island, or to get hurt. But he isn’t upset with Luke.

“It… felt good to be able to save someone for once,” he says quietly.

Figured I might as well post this one thing since two people have already mentioned me about an eternal diva AU screenshot edits. (AU idea first by mystic part 1 and part 2 I am forever grateful for that)

So yeah they just wanted to enjoy an opera but got tangled up in the whole mess. Also updated fancy outfits, they did come in handy in the end. He totally tried to slick his hair back but it poofed back. I like him floofy. And the flower on Clive's jacket is supposed to be....

Fuck it, this is MY blog and I'm sharing MY desmitri au

Fuck this shit I'm sharing my idea of the universe where they're a couple.

Ok so it all starts shortly after last spectre events. Clive works as a reporter right? And wouldn't Descole machine in Misthallery make good news? Well, imagine Clive talking with Dimitri about how complex that machine must have been and how it could help for their plan. Dimitri has no idea of what he means and is 100% tired of Clive's bs, but the young man keeps insisting that he should go and find whoever is behind that machine and either get them to work for them or steal stuff.

So I have no idea of how or why, but now there we are. Dimitri is stealing machine pieces and blueprints from Descole. The masked man catches up really fast and now he has to deal not only with his brother, there now is a Micheal Jackson wannabe stealing his shit.

Basically I have nothing else to say other than that they flirt/fight. Enemies to lovers time baby.I have a precise idea of what happens that I won't explain it here rn, but they grow close but part ways shortly after Eternal Diva events.

They meet again because Des learns what happened during lost future events and bails out Dimitri from jail (ok he literally just yoinked him)

Now they live together and bring such an awkward atmosphere whenever they go visit Layton during holidays

PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT HERSHEL ADOPTS CLIVE AU lowkey i've thought about the possibility before and it's fantastic in a bittersweet kinda way..... i wanna hear your interpretation of it :eyes emoji but really fast:

Tumblr deleted everything I typed out before I’m so sorry let me see if I can summarize it again. It started with this back in December 

We were talking about the various PL villains and which ones we liked and didn’t favorite too much and for some reason I brought this up idk i have a weird brain that cant focus on one thing. Anyway I put it off till like…January. I wen’t back to @well-clearly—-it-can in the AAFC and was like “Really though its not unreasonable for Hershel to possibly adopt Clive at that time impulsively.” because its…not? I mean (spoilers sort of for AA4) Phoenix went and technically impulsively adopted a child when he was at his lowest point. He expresses that through those first few months, Trucy was his light. I feel like Hershel if not in his right mind, would do the same thing. 

Hershel saves Clive, this child trying to run into a burning building. He holds him for a good long while until people come to help and he just stays there wondering who the child lost and wondering if Claire is safe. It doesn’t hit him until much later that Clive is crying for both his parents, but the police or whatever take him from there. Hershel doesn’t adopt Clive right away, but he thinks about it for a few weeks. Maybe a week and a half.

He thinks about how Clive, a child in the same boots as his own, is probably just alone right now with no source of comfort for the pain hes feeling. He feels like that sort of feeling should be familiar though hes not sure why. He eventually goes back after thinking on it for so long and adopts Clive on impulse. Hershel is at a vulnerable point in his life so thinking straight is not an option, hes only doing what his brain is telling him is right. 

Cut to Hershel then realizing he doesn’t actually know how to raise a kid. He didn’t take any classes to teach him how and hes not exactly at a place where he can just ask his parents. So Hershel Layton, being the big brained professor he is, goes to Clark and Brenda like “Hey guys I know I only just lost Claire and things have been really rough and I just became a professor but like…I have a son now?”

Clark and Brenda are reasonably worried because “Hey Hershel you literally just lost someone and became a professor what were you thinking doing this.” but…they’re good friends? They help him. They help Hershel balance his work and his time with Clive and it really gets Hershel through the first good chunk of raising this child. When they move hes got an okay grasp on what to do. 

Now Clive’s half of this experience is fun. Clive is a pretty traumatized child as it is? Hes not going to open up to Hershel for the first month and a half. He doesn’t really know Hershel, and while Hershel saving him helped with trusting him, he doesn’t think he can talk to him just yet. Clive stays selectively mute for some time until hes sure hes going to be okay. Even when he is sure, he doesn’t talk a lot and won’t call Hershel dad (which Hershel is totally fine with.) but…they manage. Some days Hershel will get Clive coming into his office later on to ask about homework or something else. A word, a sentence, even a simple smile is an improvement Hershel is more than happy to see from this kid. 

When Clive starts to warm up to his new life he slowly begins to open up more about things that interest him as well. If this kid so much as looks at a book or a toy or something in a shop window and shows some sort of curiosity or interest in that item, you bet Hershel is going straight back there later and buying that thing just for Clive. Somethin like

The personality of Hershel doesn’t really change at all however Clive living around him means Clive isn’t as big of a lil shit as he is in game? Like don’t get me wrong hes still pretty...uh...snarky? But its not bad and he can control his temper just fine. Hes just got a bit of sass because thats who he is. Hershel doesn’t mind it. 

Uh..I want to say in terms of adventures, Clive isn’t with the group on all of them? Perhaps Last Specter, Curious Village, Pandora’s Box and Lost Future. But hes not there for Miracle Mask, Azran or Eternal Diva? Simply because the guy has other things to do. Does Luke still turn up and join the adventures? Yes! Luke is a key character in the games so it would be unreasonable for me to remove him. Clive absolutely treats Luke as a little brother. Luke really looks up to Clive just as he does Hershel.

And speaking of Lost Future, the entire plot would be different but I still want it to happen because...its kinda important? Like Dimitri still goes ahead and does whatever the hell he was planning but he just doesn’t have the brain of an angry child at his side. No one dies thats for sure. Clive doesn’t become violent at all but he does loose his temper quite often during the whole ordeal because its been years and its all bringing up bad memories he doesn’t want to have to think about. Hes just started to feel good again. He doesn’t want to have to deal with all of this. Claire still exists, still disguises herself, and is 100% confused when she sees Hershel has a son. She can’t ask directly about it in order to not blow her cover, but she does wonder. She wonders what lead Hershel to having a son and where Clive came from. 

She eventually gets Clive’s story in a passing conversation between the two when she asks why Clive is there with them. She knows the deaths of his parents aren’t her fault, but he can’t help but feel guilty about it all the same. Shes just glad to see Clive happened to land in good hands with a great father whose clearly raised him well. 

Idk the aus a bit funky and a little all over but I love it and I live for the concept I am so sorry this post is so long I have so much to say about it sdfdsf. I’m gunna write a fic about the convo between Claire and Clive at some point because I like the idea of it.

AU where Hershel adopts everyone and I mean everyone.

After the explosion, Layton takes in as many orphaned children as he can. But not Clive. Yet.

When Luke is born, Layton becomes a second father and mentor to him.

After last spectre, Layton doesn't think leaving the orphan Barde siblings alone is a good idea, so he takes them with him. In fact, since most of the children are working in a black market, Layton decides to take them all with him so he can be a positive influence.

Randall feels very guilty after nearly killing everyone, so Layton allows him to move in with him so they can repair their relationship. Henry and Angela come too.

After eternal Diva, Janice and Amelia are pretty sad about losing their loved ones so Layton promises to look after them for as long as they need.

Layton refuses to let his brother leave again and insists that they spend quality time together. Raymond comes too.

Umid leaves home to become Desmond's apprentice and since Desmond lives with Hershel, Umid moves in too.

Emmy feel terrible about betraying Layton, but without Bronev she has nowhere to go. Layton forgives her and says she is always welcome in his home.

Two weeks after Azran Legacy, Rook and Bishop knock on his door, admitting that they tried to find a job but they were almost arrested and have no money. Layton allows them to sleep on his couch until they find their way.

When Layton notices a single mother struggling with a pram, he naturally offers to help. Not knowing that the baby is the reincarnation of Aurora, he tells the woman that she can come to him anytime if she needs support.

After Curious village Layton obviously takes in Flora and becomes her adoptive father. Dahlia is unsure about losing her daughter, so Layton allows her to stay with them for a while.

Layton tells Katia that she has great puzzle solving skills and she can travel with them if she wants to. She says she will, but only if Sammy can come too.

After getting Clive out of prison, Layton says that he will give him a place to stay, but only if he works hard to redeem himself.

Since Dimitri loved Claire too, Layton allows him to move in so they can comfort one another.

After becoming unlikely allies, Don Paulo regularly crashes into laytons house uninvited.

By the time Katrielle arrives, since nobody had ever moved out, Layton is now living in a giant mansion with his extended family.

Minutes after being unfrozen, Layton meets Ernest. After learning what he's been through and everything he's done for Kat, Layton offers him a home with him.

The same happens to Lucy.

In fact, he's still going. Legend has it Hershel adopts a new person every five seconds.

Puzzles Gone Wrong AU: (belongs to pastel-player) A take on "evil Layton" where we ask what if he wasn't evil evil, but morally dubious. Basically he's a dictator now but he hasn't really done much harm to the city of London. He's making some questionable decisions, but... he's still the polite gentleman Layton who cares about his loved ones. Said loved ones have many conflicting feelings about him. Takes place at least 1 year after main trilogy, unclear when exactly. (Ao3 series)

Pastel wasn't doing anything with Clive in this AU so I picked him up and ran off then came back with a whole new design and stuff. Anything I make with PGW Clive that doesn't involve Timeline Hopper Clive's shenanigans is proobably canon to the AU. Basically I'm the ceo of this one guy within this AU and nothing else <3

Not sure if I'm forgetting anyone, but regardless. At this point it's less a question of 'is the bad guy screwed?' and more 'how badly is the bad guy screwed?'.

The Professor Protection squad grows ever stronger-

Just out of curiosity, are you going to cover the rest of the games in your Pandora's Call au? Like, how will Eternal Diva, Miracle Mask, and Azran Legacy be handled, not to mention Curious Village and Unwound Future?

I don’t have them all completely thought out, but I do have ideas for the rest of the games. Here’s some examples:

Eternal Diva - Mr Beluga is going to play a bigger part since he’s Luke’s grand uncle. Luke however doesn’t like him very much, so this experience could make them get along better.

Miracle mask - for one thing, Randall won’t be all “Angela is mine! How dare you steal her!” Because bleh. Instead, Randall is solely after Akbadain and angry over the ‘betrayal’.

Another thing I’ve thought of is while most of Randall’s dark miracles are all staged, the mask is capable of some magic, like granting Randall wings or summoning a sword (Randall and the Professor need to have a sword fight okay-). But at the same time, the mask is influencing him, either by making his feelings stronger and more chaotic or by possessing him, making him believe Akbadain is meant to be his and his alone.

The mask of order actually gets used as well, it’s halves are taken from the ‘lock’ and given to someone to fight/keep Randall busy.

Azran Legacy - I don’t have too many ideas for this one aside from Aurora surviving because she deserves it.

Also, Luke may not forgive Emmy as easily as he did in canon, especially since this Luke has very strong opinions on betrayal.

Curious village - not too much changes here either, except Flora is a bit more of a mechanic and later in the series the Professor acknowledges her as his daughter.

Flora and Luke would also have a special bond since they both grew up in a town where everyone except their guardian weren’t quite ‘people’ and everyone who visited town was only after the fortune tied to their families.

Unwond Future - Fake future London still happens, Clive’s hair is now dyed purple as well, but Clive doesn’t end up smashing a large part of London. Instead, the time machine is actually made, though unstable, and they get to have a trip through different times.

Also Bill Hawks doesn’t get away Scott free for one thing. Whoever he’d sold the time machine part to also gets dragged into the mess, following the Professor and Co through time.

Honestly not too sure on how the time travel will work yet, but I think it’s be fun to have some actual time shenanigans.

And one last thing, Claire is there, but she isn’t quite herself…

Aand another drawing of Mary in fancy clothes. Inspired by a painting we have at home actually lol. I like to think they decorate their home with photos and paintings of family and such to add to the old fashioned people charm. And Clive likes to decorate home with paintings of Mary too. (even though she lives with him. Yes she questions his sanity)

The flowers in her hair were inspired by the eternal diva Au ms enmystic made for me (I still love that concept to death thank you so so much)

After unwound future

Basically just me having the need to shower them with happiness after the depressing end of being sepperated aka Clive's time in jail/ Mary all alone depressed. --> #  older clary au (tag)

I realized that Desmond and Clive are very similar in character and in their journey with Professor Layton, which made be think of them as a good father-son duo.

They both ask for Layton's help

Thry both act as someone else, someone who seems to have their life together

They both use and manipulate him

They loosen up over time

They start to enjoy their time together

They still go through with their plan

They regret it

They lost family

Layton is important to them

They experienced trauma by the hands of others and blamed those. And while their anger is justified, their actions aren't.

They also build huge robots, which went haywire while they had a meltdown (Dedragigant and Fortress)

They also have servants whom they see as a kind of family (Raymond, Cogg, Spring, Shipley)

I do like to imagen that Clive needed a wake up slap to get back to his senses and Desmond, who experienced similar things, would be perfect to do that. Those two could learn from their mistakes together and grow as people.

My favorite AU idea is that Desmond stumbled upon Clive one (1) year before UF/LF and gets Clive some proper therapy and a place to stay.

(Not that it's not nice with Shipley, Spring and Cogg but being in Constance's old house or in an apartment all on his own isn't ideal)

And Desmond might try to be a father figure again after healing from his past and guids Clive to a better future.

The idea that they built machines together is incredible cute and I support that!

Oh!! And I heard about the thing with Clive spying on Descole when the Eternal Diva took place. After all, u can see Spring and Cogg on the street and the Casino Henchman is on the ship. (He gets kicked off, tho)

Also, Clive losing his new family, IF he was earlier taken in by Des means he'd tag along with the whole Descole and Targent thing. Which made me doodle this:
