Ten years ago today, I brought Cleocatra home with me. So that's why I decided to write this first post on her new official sideblog today! Shout out to @melverie for giving me the idea to create a blog just for her to begin with!

It'll probably just be all the pictures I don't post on my main because I don't want to spam it lol.

I can't believe I've had her for ten years. She's 17, as she was already seven when I first got her.

She used to be owned by an elderly lady who passed away. The owner's daughter couldn't keep Cleo, so she gave her to my friend's family.

When I first saw Cleo, I was instantly in love with her. She's so pretty and I was like when did you guys get such a beautiful cat???

My friend's family told me the whole story. They didn't want Cleo, but the previous owner's daughter was desperate, so they took her in. Back then, she didn't really have a name. Apparently it used to be Cuddles, but most of the family called her Cat.

Up until this moment, I had been a dog person. I'd never owned a cat before in my life.

But Cleo and I had a special bond. Every time I came over, she would come out of hiding just to roll over and let me pet her belly. My friend told me they rarely saw her, except when I came over.

I told them that I wanted to adopt her, but I couldn't because of my living situation at the time. I was preparing to move soon, though, and asked if they would keep her for me. They did and I'm super grateful for that because it ended up being two years.

While she was still with them, I named her Cleocatra. I was looking at her fur and decided it had a sandy color to some of it - like a desert. Plus, it's a pun. Turns out she's very queenly as well, so it worked out on several levels.

The same day I moved into my own condo was the day I brought Cleo home. She hid under the TV cabinet and I thought she escaped outside somewhere. My mom and I looked for her for like ten minutes before we finally found her hiding behind a stack of DVDs.

This is the first picture I ever took of her and that is the TV stand in question. Out of the frame, it had a shelf where I piled the bulk of the DVDs. My friend’s family had gotten her fur shaved so it’s very short here.

Later that evening, she curled up on my lap. And ever since then, it's been ten years of being a cat servant. She's very demanding, but she's also very sweet. She cuddles with me when I'm sick and sleeps on my pillow all night.

I’ve become a total cat person now and I get excited any time I see one. Cleo and I have been through a lot from the time she got stuck in the intake vent to the time she moved across the country with me on a five day road trip.

I love her with all my being and while I know she's getting older, she still acts young and the vet says she's super healthy. So I'm hoping I've still got some years with her.

Anyway, that's the story of how I got her! I might write little stories about her silly shenanigans that she's gotten into over the years. But you can expect the bulk of my posts here to be pictures.
