feelings while rewatching ahs asylum, as of episode 5:

i cannot fucking believe that the same man who plays the n*zi doctor also played the farmer in babe. what in god’s name. and he was zefram cochran too. absolute madness

jessica lange is a stone cold fox and her fantasy scene with the monsignor at dinner is a gift to me personally 

clea duvall being cast as sarah paulson’s live-in girlfriend and then being killed off is consistently the saddest emotional rollercoaster

potentially controversial opinion: i don’t really like grace and i think shelley should have been the secondary female lead in briarcliff

i like kit as a character but i’m having this weird bleedover experience where my feelings about his character in freakshow (don’t like that an able-bodied person was the leader in a gang of actually disabled actors and got one of the only happy endings!) are tainting my feelings about kit. the last time i watched asylum in its entirety i had already seen freakshow, too, so idk why i’m feeling this way this time around.

Five good/positive things that happened to you in 2018

I got to spend a few days with my bust bro in Albuquerque, flying on a plane for the first time since I was 11 and leaving the country alone for the first time..... everything about it was wonderful except the fact the flight up was turbulent and I was low-key kind of sick the entire trip lmao. But the concert, the burritos, the Georgia Okeeffe Museum, the dinosaur party, the good cat and dog pals I made.... all v good. 10/10 would go back (the burritos alone make it worth it)

Went on a trip to Drumheller and saw some good dino boys with my ex gf (that feels weird af to type bc it’s usually so negative?? but I still talk to her n stuff lmao hi Sam if ur reading this thanks for taking me to see the dinos!!!)

My like.... business has really grown!! I got a record number of sales and commissions and it’s still not at a livable amount but it’s great supplemental income and really encouraging. 

Got a new puppy!!! Her name is Boo and she’s an absolute terror but we love her. 

This is only five because as of writing this it hasn’t happened but I’m going to be an aunt!! My sister literally has a c-section tomorrow and we have no clue what she’s having but im eager to meet her goblin tomorrow. 

//that last one was genuinely v hard bc 2018 was prolly the worst year of my life thus far but I’m glad it got me thinking about the good lmao)

had to watch a clip from AHS about conversion therapy for class and had some thoughts. will return 2 this later but a) clea duvall is in this?? and I looked up the plot ?? suddenly more interested in this show b) I can’t believe american horror story is a terf……. how dare they present lesbianism as being linked to aversion to male genitalia………. almost as if contemporary trans activism is literally advocating conversion therapy

Hi, it's two. :D I hadn't actually realized no one really knows about the things Serena had done! What if in the end June testifies against her? // I'm so worried about Emily. She seems significantly more broken than any other handmaid we know, including June. She has actually murdered people. Is she actually going to make it to Canada with the baby safely or is she going to have some sort of a nervous breakdown and screws up her shot at getting there?

I mostly want her to make it so that I can see more of Clea Duvall on this show :D (assuming she made it, which she'd better!) // The thing about mass effect is you need to play it from mass effect 1, and Miranda doesn't show up until mass effect 2 :D // Anyway, tuello for Serena's baby daddy please!

I did wonder about that cos basically the only way for the American (or Canadian) gov’ts to be privy to ALL of Serena’s crimes is personal testimony, and obviously the first Handmaid can’t (and we also don’t know exactly the extent of Serena’s behaviour towards her anyway. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as with June? Worse? Who knows.) So, there’s Rita--who sadly I don’t think we’re going to see get out of Gilead. But that’s just me. There’s Fred--who, well, that would certainly be a twist if he was to defect first, flip on her, and bring her down before they can bring him down. (Highly doubtful, imho. He seems pretty entrenched.) Nick--who really... isn’t a great witness since he never directly witnessed anything that we know of; he was just June’s confidant. (Hearsay.) But June... June knows every little nasty thing Serena (and Fred) has done in that house.

However, I doubt she knows about the bombing conspiracy cos that doesn’t seem like the type of thing Serena would share over tea and late-night Motown classics. 

So, yeah, basically, the majority of Serena’s crimes are all tied up in the experiences/memories of various different people still in Gilead. Unless, somehow, US intelligence can prove her involvement in the coup against the US via electronic surveillance gathered back then, or whatever. So without that, and unless June turns on her, they’ve got very little. She’d definitely be handy more for propaganda in that case. 

But June testifying against her would certainly be a poetic sort of justice. I do wonder if she would. I guess it all depends on how the seasons go, lol.

Now, Emily...

Do you want spoilers? Cos I can answer some of those questions! I really wouldn’t mind seeing more Clea Duvall as well. I think the way Emily’s relationship works through trauma etc would be the most interesting storyline they could do for her. And it would be a good way to deal with the fallout of being so fucking broken by a system. Like you said, she deffo seems the most damaged. Like, I’d say WAYYYY more than June who just seems a) to skim out of serious long-term mutilation and punishment, and b) more resilient and flexible. 

But we’ll have to see what they have in store for Emily. I just hope it’s organic and feels genuine for the character. They could easily go way too depressing and dark, or alternately go way too light and inauthentic. Fingers crossed!

The only other concern I have is they’re going to have too many characters with too many separate storylines to tell any single one really well if we’re constantly bouncing all over the place. It already felt a bit disconnected with Moira/Luke in Canada, Emily/Janine in Colonies, Fred in hospital, June... all over the fucking place. But granted, Lydia was quite twisted tightly into both June and Emily’s stories, and Fred/Serena/June/Nick/Rita all in the same place kinda. Then S3 are we gonna have June doing her own thang all over again, Emily... somewhere with her own subplot, Moira presumably with her own subplot, don’t know how connected it will be to Luke and whatever he’s up to, Fred off being Evil President or something, Serena making pals and hanging with Mommy, Rita? Nick? Janine? Alma? Aunt Lydia? I’m just worried they may be dividing the characters up too much to follow each one of them through a fully realised narrative of their own. (I can’t remember how many episodes but I think it’s going to be 12?) 

It only makes sense to have June back with the Waterfords/Rita/Nick, and group all the Handmaids back together, and group all the refugees together. But if they’ll actually do that, who knows. (Well, we know June and the Waterfords are back together for some reason and probably only briefly.)

Time will tell!

(Ah, well, if I run into Mass Effect at a shop for cheap or something, maybe I’ll pick it up.)

Also, this reminds me, dear anon (I’m sorry I can’t recall which one!! Eek!), I looked for Chuck on Prime and I guess our Prime in Canada doesn’t have it :(((( It’s on none of our streaming services, which is actually quite strange cos usually things will be on one of the 3 main ones.
