that person saying they’re only reading trc for the romance?? i’m going to hunt them down for sport. do the complex non-romantic relationships and feeling that all of the characters hold mean nothing??? what about the plot??? hello is anyone in their skull??? maybe i just can’t fathom reading a book for a ship but wtf

trc has more about loving your friends than it has about romance and it has so many complex non romantic relationships and dynamics that are so interesting the romance makes up a very small portion of that series and focusing on That instead of the themes about grief addiction depression abuse identity classism fear of the future or CARS even just seems super reductive like trc is so complex with so many different parts to read it just for the romance is :/

#i loved the romance in it as much as the next guy but i also loved all of the platonic friendships just as much #classifying that series as a romance is such a gross misinterpretation #its about being a teenager in rural america and being in love with all your FRIENDS #and how friendships can change the tragectory of your life #it is also about coping with loss and the fear of death
