The pioneer Class 40, D200.
Seen powering an express on the East Coast Mainline in 1958, the year it was introduced. Rare colour snap so early in their era.

REPOST: Because there was an issue with the tags causing posts not to index correctly and it came in late and not as many people were able to see it so hopefully it won't happen again.
Bowler and Stepney
Happy New Year Everyone.
I actually wanted to post this BEFORE the new year came but due to time contraints I couldn't do it at my aformentioned deadline. Awww well. Have some train people.
Specifically some Glup Shitto train people. Bowler/Class 40/D261 and Stepney the Bluebell Engine.
For some reason I can't help but draw them together just vibing. I think I kinda ship them in either a romantic or platonic sense because I literally can't imagine one without the other without each other at this point.
The only interacted once canonically and they hated each other yet to me they are besties or lovers or some shit. I am way too enemies to friends/lovers pilled.
Lol. So yeah, have some train gijinkas. Hope you enjoy them.

The way I see a lot of the Class 40s is that at first they were proud and boastful, not dissimilar to Gordon, but most of them quickly were very humbled when they could not match their steam counterparts.
After a while they mellowed out, grateful they were a large enough class they couldn't be withdrawn as early as some others.
D4711 and Old Stuck Up are some of the few that were just absolute assholes, through to the end
Why was D782 giving Stepney such a shitty look in that one illustration? Jealousy. Stepney looks all nice and preserved, and that same year English Electric built a prototype engine to replace them, called DP2. It was a rough year, for all of them.

British Railways (Ex-LMS) Stanier Rebuilt Royal Scot Class No. 46100 ‘Royal Scot’ on its last mainline charter to Holyhead before withdrawal for overhaul. This was a private charter for employees of Locomotive Services Group who operate it. BR Class 40 No. D213 Andania is on the back. During steam days it would’ve been common to see Royal Scot locos and other LMS locos on the North Wales Coast line as it was part of the LMS.

The Year of the Diesel Army Day 45
Tumblr media
This is my first (and hopefully only) one-year project (which will be only 365 days) and this one has everything to do with the Diesel Army.
In this pic, Bowler/Class 40/D261 is holding a green paper heart with the words "JUST 40 HUGS" written on it and a pink-colored pencil.
(NOTE: This is for Valentine's Day 2023.)
Made with Ibis Paint X.
Enjoy, and remember, Diesel Army Forever!

A mixed livery ensemble in the coaching stock. The corporate blue/grey scheme was starting to spread in 1967, setting the scene for much of the next two decades.
A Class 40 near Lancaster with a top link express between London Euston and Glasgow.
