Class 1-A Headcanons! (part three)

I’m mainly going to be focusing on appearances and sexuality, as that is depicted in the images I edited.

Continuing with characters I headcanon as masc identifying (trans & cis guys). If any of your faves are not present please check part one & part two!

Included in this part: Tenya Iida, Mashirao Ojirou, Eijirou Kirishima, Rikidou Satou, Katsuki Bakugou, & Izuku Midoriya

Tenya Iida (he/him)

Tenya Iida is a bicurious asexual. He previously had a crush on Ochako Uraraka, but thinks he may be interested in Sero Hanta.

He often gets muscle cramps in his legs and has had panic attacks before, but is working to mitigate both.

He enjoys orange juice, action movies, and history. He reads text books for fun, but can also be found in the common room spending time with his peers or running around UA.

Mashirao Ojirou (he/him)

Ojirou is transmasculine and heterosexual. He is dating Tooru Hagakure.

He is very bottom heavy due to his quirk, but other than that is relatively unhindered in his everyday life.

He enjoys martial arts, gardening, and rom-coms. He can be found in UA's gym training with any number of his classmates or on his monthly date with his girlfriend.

Eijirou Kirishima (he/him)

Kirishima is transmasculine and gay. He is dating Katsuki Bakugou. He is also considering using neopronouns, but not quite certain yet.

He suffered greatly with depression in middle school, but has gotten better with therapy. He is slightly dyslexic and has ADHD. Later in life he will develop joint problems due to his quirk, but he's doing pretty well as of right now.

He enjoys swimming, weight training, and punk music & fashion. His like of swimming comes from his mom's DNA, which means he's often in the pool with Tsuyu Asui. However, he is often in the gym with his peers, sparring or otherwise working out. He, Tokoyami Fumikage, & Kyouka Jirou are a part of fake club they call the emo/goth/punk alliance, which meets monthly.

Rikidou Satou (he/him)

Rikidou is the only cisgender heterosexual in class 1A. He is not currently interested in dating anyone in his class, but there's a really cute girl at a cafe he frequents that he's recently taken note of.

He has high blood sugar due to his quirk's need for sugar and as a result gets frequent headaches and is very tired. He also has acne.

He enjoys fitness, meal planning, baking, and stand-up comedy. He's often in the kitchen, cooking or baking for himself or the class. He usually will watch a comedy routine on a streaming service while his food bakes.

Katsuki Bakugou (he/rose/blast)

Katsuki is agender and achillean. He is dating Eijirou Kirishima.

Rose is hard of hearing and slowly going deaf from his explosions. He also gets acne & rashes due to his quirk, as having nitroglycerin on his skin all day isn't the best for it.

Blast enjoys cooking, sparring, playing the drums, and punk music. He is often in the kitchen around dinner time, but otherwise is in his or Eijirou Kirishima's bedroom working or reading. Rose also plays rose's drums at least twice a week.

Izuku Midoriya (he/they/rose/petal/blast)

Izuku is omnisexual, polyamorous and identifies with the term rosboy (which is roughly, a feminine guy). He is dating Shouto Todoroki and Ochako Uraraka. Additionally, they are metamours with Tsuyu Asui and Momo Yaoyorozu.

Rose has early onset arthritis, especially in rose's fingers due to rose's quirk.

Petal enjoys gardening, working out, note taking, and volunteer work. Blast is often out of the dorms at the local animal shelter or elementary schools, assisting with whatever blast can. However, he usually in the gym or his bedroom when he is home, training, taking notes or watching old hero flics.

Equal asshole opportunity Vlad

He continues to claim he’s an amazing teacher while allowing his students to do whatever. Kendo smacks those she feels are being rowdy, Monoma is loud and keeps saying wtf stuff as 1A, Tetsutetsu is ignoring the rules to be manly, but Vlad keeps going on about how great of a teacher he is. He won't stop even with evidence showing he's fucked up a lot of the time is given to him. As far as he's concerned everything is fine, no reason to worry.

He's still better then Eraserhead. He has a full class of students and none break bones all the time (nevermind Bakugou in this AU got expelled after the sports festival for attacking an opponent after the match and Mineta was expelled for harassment. Never mind Midoriya is a late bloomer.)

Vlad is just so damn confident he's the best because Aizawa has had issues in the past with the school board while Vlad never has. He's always had full classes graduate to be heroes (nevermind most never move past sidekick or they get in a lot of trouble the first few years because Vlad encourages unhealthy forms of competition and training. Nevermind Aizawa has recently been forced to go to therapy and has slowly changed from the heavily depressed and exhausted man he was after his husband nearly left and he nearly lost his job). His kids better show 1A they're better. They are, and they're going to train like they are even if they fall over.

It comes crashing down in this AU for Vlad when one of his students has enough of the encouragement of the competition and the hellish training, and goes to Nezu to complain. Nezu is surprised and looks into it, having trusted Vlad to do the same ‘medium well job’ as Nezu would term it. He's been trying to entice a friend to work at UA but they're busy and need more bribes.

Nezu puts Vlad on probation as does he strip the class rep title from Kendo and shove Monoma into therapy along with Testutetsu. Later Vlad is fired as Nezu’s friend steps in to take over.

Vlad always wonders why.

time skips require you spend time exploring what it was like after the original story or plot is completed

You need to explore what it was like for each of the characters to assimilate back into society, what it was like for them after all the dust is settled

For a story to be complete you need to spend time exploring why this story was ending and why it needed to timeskip

You see a flashforward and a timeskip are different. In a flashforward, you don’t need to spend too much time exploring the themes because you’re still in the plot/theme. But a timeskip is different.

I didn’t get that from My Hero

I mean we got a single chapter- but that didn’t explain the full 8 years after Deku lost his quirk or how Class 1A contributed to rebuilding society

There are so many questions left unanswered and many of the themes were left unexplored. Many of the issues brought up by the League of Villains still exist in hero society and are seemingly untouched. I’m not saying you can fix 200 years worth of messed up mindsets in 8 years- but you can make changes after facing an entire war TWICE

I think if he had explored what it was like for Deku to go back into society without a quirk or how his interactions with the League of Villians changed his perspective. Or how Uraraka was able to become a better hero from her interactions with Toga- not just creating quirk therapy sessions. Or how did Todoroki make sure that the past was never forgotten and acknowledged but not let that shackle him in the 8 years since he fought his own brother. We got a couple of sentences but that’s it.

All in all- the luster was lacking

5 head cannons (if you still do them): how about one where somehow Lady Nagant becomes 1A’s homeroom teacher?

In the end she managed to avoid jail/destruction of her own reputation since rather than confronting the former HPSC president she just reveals everything that they've been up to/had her do. She still isn't entirely trusted as a hero, and needs to do alternative work/borderline community service, which somehow results in her getting a job at UA. She bounces every few years from doing homerooms or Hero practical class.

All of that does also serve to keep Hawks away from the HPSC hands, but also does lead to him getting into heroics in a weird fashion that involves three vigilantes, a crisis involving AFO (unknowingly), and Kaina shooting someone for good cause.

Aizawa was supposed to be the 1-A teacher that year, but due to controversy caused by ,his expulsion/re-enrollment thing and Nedzu facing flak as well for approving it, he's on 'sabbatical' that year, aka retraining for how to teach in a sane fashion.

She pretty much immediately identifies the possible problem children/need additional assistance in the form of Kaminari (Quirk control), Shouto (refusal to use both halves of Quirk), Izuku (Quirk control and signs of previous extreme bullying), Bakugou (inferiority-superiority complex, implications of him being Izuku bully), and Hagakure (costume problem). She makes sure to arrange for the additional resources for all of them, including making Shouto, Izuku and Bakugou go to therapy.

USJ ends much more rapidly and with far more lethal force being used. She may hate killing, but she hates her students being in potential lethal danger more.

I am mildly obsessed with the one for all mind link AU. What does the aftermath of Kamino look like? Does Izuku ever recover?

All Might in conscious but nearly catatonic from outside perspectives as all of his focus in the first few hours of the aftermath is spent communicating with Izuku. The only thing that breaks him from that focus is Gran's insistence he rest, so he can be out of the hospital as soon as possible and visit him in person.

All Might walked away from Kamino none-life threatening injuries, but Izuku's spine was broken in the Muscular fight. Thanks to quirks and technological advancement, it's not as bad as it could have been, but it's still pretty bad. Pain is constant and severe, and he'll need to learn to walk again over the course of several months. Izuku fears that his hero career is over, but both All Might and Nezu promise that his spot is waiting for him back at UA whenever he's ready.

They keep in touch whenever All Might is away. The pain is so bad some days, he has trouble getting out of bed himself just from the echoes. But the worst part according to Izuku is how boring it is to be stuck in one room. It hurts too much to sleep through it. Hero forums don't entertain him like they used to now that he's experienced the real thing, and he's never been much of a videogame guy. Not even the PSP ALL Might got him for Christmas occupies his attention for long. He misses training and his friends.

The solution is for him to experience things through All Might as a proxy. He lets Izuku tune into things like movies, classes, funny conversations his friends are having, and even walks through interesting places on All Might's day off. He even convinces 1A to film videos of their activities so they talk to him while All Might holds the camera. It helps in the moment, but the second it's over, Izuku feels that much more like he's missing out. All the more alone.

Through a lot of trial, error, and meditation, All Might and Izuku figure out they don't just have to share pain over their mind link, they can pass each other their strength too. While Izuku is in physical therapy, All Might pushes back on his pain with his own assuredness, mimicking the steps he needs to take in another room, helping Izuku build his strength back up in record time while also dulling the agony of it.

What kind of fanfic would you like there to be more of? Not as in, fic ideas, but general types/genres, like multi-chapter AUs with original worldbuilding, fix-its, canon compliant character studies, etc? I know this is probably fandom specific, so I guess for any fandom you feel like considering.

Domestic Bliss - TBH, I like the post resolution stories that are still ridged with the fall out of whatever they'd undergone in story but here they are, anyway. (All fandoms)

Canon Compliant Character Studies - I like writing these a lot. Finding a space in canon to provide just a little bit more insight on your favorite character? 😘👌🏾 But also, I enjoy reading them because I think they're a good indication of how the author interprets the character which is always an eye opener. (All Fandoms but specifically ones with little to no fluff/filler because you're not getting the deep dive you want to connect the dots)

Angst - This, I think, is a spectrum. Not going to go as far as whump but just the acknowledgement of the reality a character is going through. For example: MHA, Midoriya and Class 1A largely need therapy. But the story persists in spite of this and without slowing for any sort of residual complications from the lack thereof. JJK, if someone doesn't get Yuji Itadori a damn hug, I don't know what he'll do. VINLAND SAGA, imagine what people miss as Thorfinn undergoes the events from his childhood into becoming a man. TBH I feel like a character study there would be good too but we don't get too much of the emotional side of the story until it breaks the dam in season 2, you know? Sorry, my forever sad bitch status is showing.

Comedy - Frivolously, I think it's brilliant when someone can write a story that's true to the characters but in new or unexpected environments that are hilariously applied because that's such a thorough understanding of the essence of that/those character(s). OOC'ness is debatable here but Sassy Deku? Give it.

AU's - always yes because who wouldn't want to see your favorite characters in other environments?

Generally, for shorter stories, I want the conditions to be the same. Like, quirked up coffee shop AU where maybe hero society isn't as big a pressing variable just to explore another facet of a world that already exists and the impact powers have therein. I say this knowing damn well I will always read a no-power fanfic if my favorite characters/dynamic are involved. Original worldbuilding AU's, I like the idea, but go through periods of life where I simply don't have time/mental capacity to keep up with them or even read multi-chapter fics. Let alone to later find out it wasn't worth it! But there's some genuine artistry in people who can consistently and sincerely create something vivid and immersive. BNHA Rewrite, Best Friends, Past and Present.

As Part 1 of my semi-comprehensive rewrite of Class 1A, let’s get started with Izuku’s main secret keepers amongst Class 1A, Ochako Uraraka and Katsuki Bakugo.

Ochako Uraraka - Uravity

Plus sized. Begins chubby and graduates to stocky.

Bullied as kid for her family’s poverty, developed anger issues and problems w/ bullies because of it.

Channeled anger through martial arts lessons, got good at boxing and other martial arts as a result.

Her parents are basically the Kents.

Has problems with the fact heroes have carte blanche use of their Quirks, whereas elsewhere there’s actually a lot of stigma around Quirk usage, and civilian licensees are so hard to come by that getting a license as a hero feels easier.

A lot more fiery in personality, and her determination is clear from the start. Stops hiding Kansai accent after growing closer to her class.

Still guilty over the fact she’s essentially becoming a hero for monetary gain, feels indebted to her parents despite the fact it’s not the case.

Intervenes against Bakugo when confronts Izuku. Tells Izuku that ‘bullies don’t need justification’ and then redefines Deku for him.

Insists that Izuku, Tenya & Tsuyu call her Ochako.

Still feels like she needs to be best, thus becomes very competitive.

Bash brothers with Ojiro & Kirishima, Bakugo’s proper rival.

Incorporates a lot of her teachers and friends style along improving her Quirk.

Incorporates gunhead style gauntlets alongside his judo influenced martial arts, then grapnel hooks, then a winged propulsion system.

Becomes...I won’t say friends, but good acquaintances with Mei.

Learns how to use a sword.

Her hero costume evolves into a mix of flight suit and knight’s armor, incorporating Ryukyu’s clawed headdress into her helmet, along side wings.

Her Quirk awakens to allow her to increase gravitational pull and direct it.

Foil for both Izuku & Bakugo, as they all feel like they have to be the best for different reasons, plus their anger issues.

First hears about One For All during the Mall confrontation, and finds out after the Kamino Rescue, where she’s a member.

Bisexual but clueless. But don’t worry, Izuku, her mutual crush, is in the same boat.

Bakugo Katsuki - Dynamight

Whoo boy, do I have thoughts with him.

On top of the anger issues and the pride issues, he’s somehow got both an inferiority and superiority complex.

Despite this, he’s more genuinely dedicated to heroism beyond just being unbeatable, just hindered by his upbringing.

Stayed friends with Izuku for a bit following the Quirkless diagnosis, but it faded as Katsuki fell victim to Japanese Society’s views on the Quirkless, which turned to anger at Izuku’s “foolish insistence” at still being a hero.

His parents actually try to discourage his behaviour, but it only goes so far when the rest of the world seems to be encouraging it, especially Aldera, where he’s the Golden Boy, but it leads to the belief he has to be the best.

His ego takes a hit when he realizes that Izuku was the only one willing to save him amongst a crowd that included Pro Heroes, and five months later, he finds himself unable to do the same.

Confused when Izuku shows up with a Quirk on the first day, which of course is channeled into anger that erupts during Battle Trials and gets him put on probation and in therapy.

It isn’t the straightest path, but Hound Dog & Best Jeanist do a lot to get his head on straight.

Still has issues with Izuku, and that comes to a head with their post Kamino fight and his guilt ridden breakdown over failing to actually save people.

Kinda chills out afterwards, as he realizes he doesn’t have to be the best anymore. Stops calling Izuku ‘Deku’, but keeps calling him nerd.

Angrily confused by the feelings of companionship and true respect he ends up developing with Class 1A.

Reveals the Dynamight name before the Jaku Raid. Expects to laughed at but is shocked when they genuinely compliment it.

Kirishima & Shoto are his closest friends, though he’s kinda close to Momo and weird confidants with Ochako.
