After the war of clans...
A hush was placed over the whole of Mausmountain, even the marigolds that littered the scenery stopped. The dancing of the tree's leaves stilled. Crickets stopped singing in wait of something great, something never seen before.
Gentlefeather took this as a message to keep walking. Trees swamped the veiw to the left and right, leading her down a narrow path where Moonfalls lay. A delicate glow grew brighter and brighter as her paw steps sped up.
''Starclan is here.'' She whispered, finally a tail's length away from the rushing water. The waterfall's foam licked her paws as Gentlestar tentatively waded in. Nose reaching to touch the end of the waterfall, she was transported to a lavender and blue plains. Every passed on cat she once knew, and those she didn't were there.
A smokey grey tabby was making her way through the crowd. Catmint green and billowing was held from her right ear. One of her paws was missing.
''Mother!'' Gentlefeather ran to Wolverineleaf.
Using her tail to hold her mother close she cried, ''It's been forever since I last felt your warmth.''
''I could say the same to you my daughter.'' Wolverineleaf's face suddenly hardened. ''You must be confident now, walking alone or with your clanmates. I give you this life for confidence.''
A jolt of burning pain slashed into Gentlefeather, her legs trembling as she tried to stay straight. She could hear her mother's deep laughter.
''Walk on daughter, that was only the first one now.'' Gentlefeather touched noses with Wolverineleaf one last time before moving on to another cat, who she reconized as Antlerpaw. He was one of the paws she trained with. He had been killed when a tree fell upon him and Gentlefeather's mentor, Sandfeather. The incident had been the first time she ever cried, and begged starclan to save her mentor.
''Greetings Gentlefeather! I always found it funny how 'Gentle' was in your name when you were always so heavy pawed!'' He giggled and swayed as he approached her eagerly.
''Go on little one. I will recieve a life from you. Stars are basically falling from your pelt with excitement.'' Gentlefeather reached down for the little 'paw and smiled as the same hot pain rushed into her again.
''Thats for sympathy! Since you're so stoic HAHA!'' He ran away after that, bouncing after some orange kits that sadly were in starclan.
Starlingrunner and Mistyplume come forward together.
''I have endurence for you, new 'star. Mistyplume comes to bring you friendship in your time of leadership.'' Starlingrunner doesn't waste any time as she passes her gift to Gentlefeather, as does Mistyplume.
Starlingrunner dips her head in leave and Mistyplume shocks Gentlefeather by actually speaking, ''Good luck.'' Mistyplume's blue eyes dance as Gentlefeather remains shocked. Mistyplume's voice was restored!
Blueshell's brown tabby fur breezed by the two leaving she-cats. She placed a crow's feather by Gentlestar's paws and gave her a life for clear judgement.
Next was Driftdapple, a former kittypet Gentlefeather had found and saved from a swarm of rats. He was restored to his youth, as he lived the rest of his life with the clan after his saving.
''You have so much bravery little one, I shall give you a dependable heart for your bravery to rest on. Be scared and frightful no longer, and find relief in your choices.'' Driftdapple embraced Gentlefeather as his gift racked through her.
''Almost done, I promise.'' With a smile he sat by the rest of the beaming life-gifters.
Sandfeather, who she was named after sprang up, his once dull pelt now a sandy red. Tears brimmed in Gentlefeather's eyes.
''I see you named yourself after me huh?'' He jested.
''You saved my kits. Even when fire ripped you apart you saved them, and my whole litter.'' Gentlefeather buried herself into his chest, crying.
''Dear, I mentored your mother, your father, and then you. It was my destiny to keep your family safe.'' With that, he gave her a life for mercy.
Bluebellspeckle and his pretty forget-me-nots came up from behind her with a loud ''BOO!''
She turned on her paws, unknowingly pushing herself into his nose! Pain rushed once again through her.
''Got you! That one is for unity within the clan, and the other clans when needed!'' He placed a flower by the crow feather that was left for her. ''Keep this to show the medicine cat okay?''
Gentlefeather rolled her eyes and nodded, the pain numbing her maw.
''This is the last cat..'' Gentlefeather thought as she closed her eyes in wait.
''Are you really not going to look at me, Appleworm?!'' Briarstar's shrill voice rang through the clearing, her fur bristling. Briarstar tugged Gentlefeather's ear low.
''HEY HEY OKAYY!!'' One eye opened to see Briarstar licking one of her paws in fake annoyance.
''Come now kit, I have a life for you, and a good one too! And if you don't use it I'll be mad as a badger in winter!'' Briarstar lurched forward and touched the last life into Gentlefeather with her signiture tail strike!
Catching Gentlefeather-no, GentleSTAR, Briarstar mewed across the plains, ''EVERY CAT WITH A VOICE AND SOUL SING OF OUR NEW LEOPARDCLAN LEADER, GENTLESTAR!''
A chorus of mews and yells billowed loudly over every other noise in starclan.
''GENTLESTAR, GENTLESTAR, GENTLESTAR!''
Dizzy as a hit mouse, Gentlestar could only half-giggle before going to sleep next to all her life-gifters, and return to the real life, as GentleSTAR!

Second Moon
Nothing much has really happened
But Cicadakit had talked to Wetdusk, they get along really well and it had a positive effect
Wetduck gave Riverwillow a task, probably for some Warrior stuff and it had a neutral effect
Yellownight talked to Cicadakit, Cicadakit loves talking with Yellownight, thatâs why they have a strong bond so it was positive
Quitgaze did have a huge argument with Yellownight pretty much didnât end well and it was negative
Pepperneedle gave Quitegaze a task probably to distract her from the argument and it had a neutral effect
Oakthroat told a story to Yellownight, possibly of dreams of Star clan he had as a kit, and it was positive
Riverwillow wishes that Flutterpaw would take things for seriously, Flutterpaw did just become a warrior only a couple of moons ago so heâs still pretty young and still plays with Cicadakit, that had a negative effect
Pikestar also helped build up Partridgefloodâs confidence, to make sure she fits in with the clan, that was positive
Flutterpaw had a fight with Wetdusk, probably cause of the taking things serious thing, it turned out negative
Partridgeflood told a story to Giantheart, a story from when they were a kitty pet, it was positive
Giantheart is sharing pretty with Pepperneedle, very kind of him, it was nice positive effect

oh, god. did tanglefern try to do a sort of c-section on honeyspring when things went south? that slit on their belly looks a lot like a classical incision to me, and tanglefern's greatest mistake...this might be completely wrong so feel free to disregard!! obsessed with this blog right now, honeyspring what happened to you....
She was just so sick, and it was all so sudden. What else was there to be done? Nobody knows what struck Honeyspring ill so swiftly or with such brutal lethality, not even Tanglefern (but he is also a liar).
Desecration;
He wedged the cutter just under the skin, and pried the walls of her womb apart, glistening with watery wetness and slick with blood. Fluids sunk into the dirt flooring of the medicine den, reeking of disease, but Tanglefern pushed forward. He was not gentle, but he did not have to be. They knew that when she took that last heaving breath not even an hour ago, she was gone.
There was no patient to be gentle for, just a cooling corpse.
And so he ripped and tore until he could wrap his mouth around each little neck, a total of three. When he felt no more of the doomed litter, he stopped and took the time to finally glance at the little bodies sitting at his paws, sticky like honey.
He looked, and saw with rising despair, that they didn't look like kits at all. He could hear the rain pounding outside through the ringing in his ears, a thundering roar.
As he stared at those things that were not quite kits, those vague lumps of wet fur and teeth, Flaildrizzle wailed. Distantly, some raw part of him, carved open like the body before him, realizes it was all for nothing.
#c-section part is correct! but it isn't tanglefern's greatest mistake#he did that to make up for his great mistake#thank you for the ask!#clan generator#clangen#wc#wc oc#wc art#warrior cats#wc clangen#clangen challenge#clangen oc#clangen art#warrior cats clangen#warrior cats art#warriorcats#wc artist#art#lutumclan#ask#clangen comic#Tanglefern#Honeyspring#rootstar#flaildrizzle#horror#tw horror#Chrono#LutumLore#Lutum Lore

Loudclan - Lore!
This is gonna be a long one, so buckle in!
Loudclan is one of 4 clans that live on a large swath of land on the coast of South Central Alaska. Here's a map and some more details about them:
Loudclan camp is located on a flat ledge atop one of the smaller mountains in the range. They were named for the roaring rumble of the mountain's frequent avalanches and landslides. While prey is never frequent in Loudclan territory, their higher elevation and sloped ground means that the snow doesn't pool like it does down in the valley, and thus they never really run out of prey either. In the cold months the clan cats sleep in the many small caves around camp, insulated with wool from the dall sheep and mountain goats that live in the clan territory. In the warmer months, many take to sleeping out in the open, enjoying the sun warmed rocks, but this can lead to epidemics of heatstroke due to the lack of cover on the mountain. Loudclan cats are said to have excellent balance compared to the valley clans.
Ghostclan camp is located in an abandoned mining town build over a grassy wetland. They were named for the strange, empty buildings that they live among. Food in the wetlands can be unpleasant, but not inaccessible. The clan spreads out into several different buildings during the warm months, but during the winter the clan retreats from the deep snows of the valley into the mines, where they are shielded from the cold by several feet of dirt along with their collection of scavenged twoleg fabrics. The dusty interior of the mines seems to be bad for their lungs, however, as Ghostclan cats seem to be more prone to illnesses than the other clans. Ghostclan cats are said to be able to sense oncoming earthquakes with their sensitive paw pads, knowing when to retreat from a tunnel before it caves in. They were the first to discover the Black Water Pool, and feel that they have some kind of special connection to it, deeper than that of the other clans.
Shadedclan camp is located at the lowest point in the valley, in the largest clearing of the dense evergreen forest. They were named for the shade provided by the needled branches of the trees lining their camp. In the summer, Shadedclan's forests and meadows provide the most plentiful prey, but in the winter the snow piles far higher than the head of a cat, and their territory becomes near barren. This means that the clan must vacate their normal dens, moving instead into the branches of spruce and pine that they have learned to weave together into a network of dens and walkways. They tend to have larger paws with extra toes to help them traverse the deep snows when necessary.
Freezingclan camp is located among the heaps of man made boulders that line the shore. (It's called rip rap it's basically a bunch of big rock chunks that they line the shore with to keep it from eroding.) They were named for the harsh winds that batter their territory regardless of the season. While the rocks are hospitable for few creatures besides certain shorebirds, the ocean is always plentiful, and for those who are willing to trek across the ice, even the inhospitable frozen water will give way to a plentiful meal. Due to the small spaces considered to be actually livable amongst the gaps in the rocks, Freezingclan has no dens, and cats instead sleep with their family units deep in their personal nests of feathers, dried seaweed, and driftwood. The wind, while biting, can be helpful, blowing the snow deeper into the valley and not allowing it to settle over the camp. Freezingclan cats claim to have harder paw pads than the other clans, needing them to keep from cutting themselves on the sharp rocks. They are also the only clan to not worship the Black Water Pool, instead believing that their ancestors live in the ocean, reborn as the creatures of the sea.
Due to the extreme nature of all of the clan's territories, they have an unspoken agreement that borders are pretty much just loose suggestions. So long as you don't get too close to anyone's camp, or travel ridiculously far into someone else's territory, you're not breaking any rules. Of course, this doesn't mean that no disputes arise over territory, in fact, if anything, it actually makes territory disputes worse as no one can agree on how far is too far. The clans also often trade items exclusive to their area in order to obtain similarly scarce items from other clans.

Each clan (minus Freezingclan) is led by a "leadership team" made up of the Leader, the Lead Healer, and the Lead Mediator.

The Leader is considered to be the closest to Starclan, and receives six lives by being completely submerged and drowned in the Black Water Pool. Afterwards they wash the oil off and receive the mark of a paw print from the Lead Healer as a sign of their approval. The Leader can receive prophecies and visions from starclan on occasion, but if they wish to speak to them directly then they have to sacrifice a life to the Black Water.
The Lead Healer is tasked with being the caretaker of the clan, and receives three lives the same way the Leader does. All healers keep a consistent layer of oil on the lower half of their body, once dried and hardened it acts as a pseudo-apron, protecting the medicine cat from possible infectious material and keeping them from spreading germs to their patients. The Lead Healer rarely receives visions from starclan, and instead focuses on interpreting omens seen in the real world. They may also sacrifice a life to speak directly to starclan.
The Lead Mediator is something of a balance to the other two. They do not receive any lives and are in fact banned from touching the Black Water. It is their job to make sure that the other two leaders do not become so distracted by starclan that they become blind to the struggles of their living clanmates. The Lead Mediator wears a decorative collar to signify their position, and will never receive visions or omens of any kind.
The Leader's closest living relative is called the Heir, and is marked by a streak of oil on their forehead given to them by the Leader. Upon reaching twelve moons old, they take the position of deputy. The other two leaders also have heirs, who are often asked to advise or assist them, but they do not hold official positions or markings.
Whoo, okay, I think that's all that I wanted to say, anyway, hope this clarifies some things and that you enjoy reading it! Follow up questions are welcome, as always!

Clan Culture: Funerals and Death Rites
Death is a constant in ForestClan's territory. Whether it be the death of stolen kits, a failed apprentice trial, the woods claiming their due, or the rarer illness or injury, ForestClan has had to develop their own traditions and rituals in order to cope with the loss of their loved ones. Due to the nature of the Woods, ForestClan has had to develop two separate funeral rites - one for when the body is present, and another for when no body is found. In the end, however, all souls are honored at the ForestClan graveyard, built around an ancient oak.Â
This culture dive will go over the funerary rites and burial practices of ForestClan, and how they honor their clanmates, in the hopes they will meet again in StarClan.Â
RITUAL OF THE LOST
The Ritual of the Lost is, regrettably, the most common funerary rite that ForestClan utilizes. It's conducted any time a cat is declared missing, and presumed dead. This applies to any victims of Living Tendrils, any apprentices that failed to return after their trial, and any cats that vanish at nightfall and do not return by morning. If a cat's body cannot be retrieved by other means - either carried away in a river or taken by an animal, the same ritual is conducted.Â
A small cooking fire is created in the middle of the camp, where those closest to the deceased would help prepare the lost cat's favorite meal. An exception is made for nursing queens and the sick. If the lost cat was a kit or a stranger, usually something simple such as a jerky or a simple soup would be made as a symbol of warmth or comfort. Once prepared, the meal would be served to each cat. The following ritual script is performed by the Clan:
---
Leader OR Medicine cat, depending on presence: "Spirits of our warrior ancestors, we call upon your love in our time of grief. Guide the soul(s) of this/these cat(s) to the stars above. We partake in this meal, to fill us with warmth, and remind ourselves of their presence in our lives. We remember."
All cats: "We remember."Â
[Starting from the High Rock and going clockwise, right to left, each cat has an opportunity to say a few words. Cats who have nothing to say can glance to the next cat. Once finished, the leader or cleric continues.]
Leader/MC: "Warriors of StarClan, accept this cat (or these cats) into your hunting grounds:Â
[The leader or cleric will then state the name(s) of the cat(s) lost. Or, in absence of a known name, the phrase "brave soul" is used]
Leader/MC: ...and may your eyes still watch over us. StarClan light your path."
---
Once finished, either one momento or favored item is wrapped in fern leaves or any long, flat material that can be found. It is wrapped, then placed over the embers of the former cooking fire. Once it fully burns up, the ashes are collected and placed inside a long travel leaf, wrapped into a bundle. Then, either the elders or those closest to the deceased take the ashes, and bring them to ForestClan's graveyard. A small grave is dug, and the ashes are buried beneath. A collection of pebbles or a large stone is placed on top as a marker. While not required, a prayer can be recited by the elders for comfort while placing the marker:Â
---
Elder: "I will not despair, for you are still with me. The woods claim your body, but not your spirit."Â
---
In the event where a memento cannot be burned and a cat had no known name - either due to being a newborn, or a stranger taken by the woods - a designated warrior or elder would instead approach a giant oak tree in the center of the graveyard. They would find where the most recent carving was made on its trunk, and carve another line next to it. A prayer can be recited as such to bring comfort, repeated as many times as desired:Â
---
Warrior/Elder: "A sacrifice not made in vain. A death not forgotten."Â
---
Once finished, the funeral is complete.Â
RITUAL OF THE PYRE
The Ritual of the Pyre is done only in the rare circumstance where a body is present. There's no clear indication about when this practice started, and it's assumed that the ritual began after the destruction of the other Clans. Despite living in a dense forest where a large bonfire is a fire hazard in greenleaf, ForestClan still performs this ritual.Â
To begin, the body is dressed in smelly herbs that cover the scent of the dead body, if necessary. Those closest to the deceased may groom the deceased one last time. If the body is rotting enough that chives or lavender must be used to cover the smells, then sharing tongues is prohibited, as these herbs are toxic when ingested. No one should spend more than ten minutes sharing tongues with the deceased, for security reasons and to allow time for everyone to grieve. During that time, a pile of twigs and logs will be constructed in the middle of camp, with birch logs being highly sought for the rapid flammability of their bark. The logs will be piled in such a way that would allow for the body to rest upon it. The following ritual script is performed by the Clan:Â
---
Leader OR Medicine cat, depending on presence: "Spirits of our warrior ancestors, we call upon your love in our time of grief. Guide the soul(s) of this/these cat(s) to the stars above. We remember."
All cats: "We remember."Â
[Much like the Ritual of the Lost, memories of the loved ones are shared.]
Leader/MC: "Warriors of StarClan, accept this cat (or these cats) into your hunting grounds:
[Recitation of names, or declaration of "brave souls" follow]
Leader/MC: âŠand may your eyes watch the final light we set for them. Dear fallen, may this fire shine as brightly as the stars that adorn your pelt. StarClan light your path."
â
The body is then lifted onto the unlit pyre, and covered in weaved twine, large ferns, bark - anything that covers the whole body. A medicine cat or leader will then take a torch that would've been made ahead of time, and light the pyre.Â
The pyre burns until the body is reduced to ash. Water is prepared to extinguish any lit cinders before collecting the ashes. Careful effort is made to ensure nothing remains - including bones. The ashes are then collected and wrapped into long leaves, and carried to the graveyard.Â
The burial practices and prayers are identical to the burial for a lost body, with one exception. If the body burned belonged to an unnamed cat, a hole is dug near the base of the giant oak tree. The ashes are then placed within it, re-buried, and a new line is carved into the oak tree.Â
CULTURAL IMPACT
Due to ForestClan experiencing loss and grief extremely often, it was vital that ForestClan funerals were made with reverence. Funerals are extremely lengthy in comparison to any other practice, and often include as many clan mates in the procedures as possible.Â
It was assumed that in the past, bodies of deceased cats were buried instead of burned. Historically, the reason for the change is either forgotten, or never recorded. But the longer one spends time in the Woods, the more evident the reason becomes. Cats that are lost to the woods reappear as Fake Cats. The only way to prevent that, is to burn the bodies. While this process is distressing to some, especially younger cats, ForestClan knows that it's for the better.Â
Cats with great storytelling or speaking abilities tend to contribute the most relief to their clanmates in this time. When memories of loved ones are shared, the words of speakers provide catharsis. As a result, cats with good speaking abilities are often expected to at least say a few sentences - which can be both a blessing or a curse to the speakers in question.Â
Funerals hosted for lost apprentices and taken newborns are always a grim affair. No one wants to beg StarClan to rescue a cat that should've lived for many years. Rarely does anyone have anything soothing to say. As a result, these rituals tend to proceed faster.Â
ForestClan's respect for these practices have clashed with former and current outsiders before. Not everyone who joins ForestClan believes in StarClan. Prayers for dead loved ones to find peace with ancestors they never believed in, has caused resentment in the past. ForestClan's uncompromising stance on burning all dead bodies they find has also fueled a lot of hatred. While their reasons for doing so are logical and seek to prevent further anguish, it's not easy telling an outsider that they found the body of their loved one on their territory, and then burned it until nothing remained. Lakestar's reign, apprentice trials, and this practice in particular are strongly used as evidence of ForestClan being a violent cult.Â
One wonders if any of them might've changed their mind, if they saw a cat screaming for help, their body atrophied and their eyes replaced with black holes. Â

Since Ichigo dies at about 15, and Hatake get their marks at like 14? what do her clan markings look like? đ
OHHH OK THIS IS ACTUALLY A WHOLE THING, SO,
Ichigo got moon stripes !! It's also known as the story teller stripes, and is the traditional tattoos of the Hatake clan's religious leader and story keeper. Which Ichigo does end up in training to become!
There's actually a bit of drama with the fact that Yuki, the current clan shaman, is so old (she's in her 70's, which is basically like being in her 120's for a shinobi), and she's only now picking an apprentice in Ichigo.
Yuki did actually have an apprentice before, who was fully trained and set up to take up the position whenever Yuki diedâ but they were one of the 5 Hatake to die to illness the winter before the Hatake were summoned to iron court (which is the event that got the ball rolling on the Hatake joining Konoha a year or two later)
Yuki settled on Ichigo being her next apprentice relatively quickly after that, but wouldn't actually tell anyone about it for some more yearsâ stubbornly staying quiet on the topic even when pressed with increasingly stressed and worried questions about it. Ichigo was only about 8 at the time, but Yuki set to training her just a little bit under the table
It was easy enough, when Ichigo was always happy to listen to her stories and gossip about past and present events. Ichigo kind of ended up soaking in a lot of things she'd be expected to learn in the role (religious rights / mythos of spirits and gods / traditions and why they do them / stories passed down through the family / etc.) naturally throughout the years.
Finally, Ichigo turned 14 and lead her first huntâ the marker of a Hatake coming of age. Afterwards, it was Yuki's job to give her the stripes Yuki deemed to 'fit her best,' which is ofc when she gave her the moon stripes and officially announced her plans with a "teehee congrats <3"
It wasn't actually too much of a surprise to those who'd been paying attention to what had been going on, but still caught some off guard. Ichigo had been "training" for like, 6 whole years at that point, without even realizing it. So she was honestly pretty well into her education on the roll, and would probably only need a few more years afterwards to be deemed officially ready to take it on
But then ofc, she dies a year later. And Yuki dies in very quick succession. (Losing her third apprentice, and so old already, had done terrible things to her heart and spirit) And with both of them went a very large portion of the clans history.
Others in the clan, of course, still knew plenty. Yuki's teachings had not been for Ichigo alone, and many had sat by her side and listened to her stories as well. But no single person knew as much as they had or had been in the same position of authority to do things like honoring the spirits of their ancestors or assigning Hatake stripes to their young.
In their deaths, Haruka had to take up many of their duties, mostly by default via being the highest other figure of respect in that regard. But they lost a lot.
There's some sort of interesting point to be made that the Hatake's religious leader wears tattoos that symbolize a red moon. And that Kaguya-hime is among the gods they pay respects to.
I don't really have any real thoughts on it other than going "hmm." and writing that down to reference later, but like !! That's something
anyways Yuki herself is also pretty cute, I find myself enjoying her immensely, so take this art I drew for her the other day that I've been looking for an excuse to post:
#THANK U FOR UR ASK I LOVE TALKING AB MY SILLY LITTLE GUYS IT MAKES ME HAPPY THAT UR CURIOUS ENOUGH TO ASK#one day I will get far enough into writing one step three steps and then I will laugh maniacally as I write Ichigo going#âwell Im not really supposed to do this but !!â as she tries to assign Kakashi his own Hatake stripes#and does a ritual she doesnt realize she's technically more qualified than most of her other clanmates to do#via painting them for kakashi#itll be fun !!! I have art planned for it too#give kakashi his own stripes !!!!#he deserves it !!!!#yuki herself is a bit of an easter egg for me I must admit.#bc shes actually a very old original oc of mine I just made into an old lady for this#she has a twin brother (dead here)#which I think plays nicely into this sort of âthe Hatake's have a pair of lucky twins every generationâ thing#that Ive had going on in the back of my head for a while#Yuki had a twin / Haruka had a twin (tbrm's mother) / Haru and Hiro#theres one for about every generation or every other one#I think it also reflects interestingly on their low birthrates and fertility issues#Bc even while they have that going on theres ALWAYS a pair of âlucky Hatake twinsâ#i think its fun#and then we get to sakumo / kakashi's generation and theres no more twins. damn. no wonder the hatake died they lost their lucky twins :(#naruto#naruto oc#hatake oc#hatake clan#hatake clan lore#wolves of the woods#hatake ichigo#hatake yuki#birds art#birds ocs#hatake

âThe Birds and The Beesâ
Letâs take a look into the past.
CONTEXT:
A few moons before Moon 0 of BranchClan, Owlshade got into a relationship with a SpottedClan tom named Waspfoot. One thing led to another, with both of them being young and stupid, and Owlshade ended up pregnant. He gave birth to four kits: Violetkit, Bluebellkit, Rosekit, and Lilackit. Owlshade adored his kits. He planned to raise them alone during the first few moons of their lives, and then when they were old enough he would let them visit their father.
That is, until cats began to gossip when the kits were a week old, and just a day later, SpottedClanâs leader Pumpkinstar showed up in camp, demanding to speak with BranchClanâs former leader Ashstar. BranchClan used to have a very strict leader system. Only the kits of former leaders could become the next leader. Ashstar was the only son of the departed Jaystar, and he became leader at only 13 moons old.
Because of this, Pumpkinstar felt uncomfortable with half-SpottedClan kits being raised in an immature clan. He debated with Ashstar for hours. Finally, Ashstar, who wanted to avoid an unnecessary war, came up with a compromise. Three of the kits would go to SpottedClan, and whichever kit Owlshade chose would remain in BranchClan. Pumpkinstar agreed, and Owlshade was forced to make a choice.
Owlshade chose Violetkit, the smallest kit and the one who looked most like Waspfoot, and brought Bluebellkit, Lilackit, and Rosekit to SpottedClanâs border. Waspfoot met him there, and took the three away.
When Owlshade returned the camp was destroyed. As it turned out, dogs had raided camp when he was gone. They killed and/or chased off everyone. Owlshade was able to escape this gruesome fate by being away, and since Violetkit was so small and tucked away in the nursery, the dogs avoided her.
And that was where BranchClan began.
Bluebellkit, Rosekit, and Lilackit were named Bluebellpool, Rosewhisker, and Lilacnose when they grew up. Bluebellpool went on to have her own daughter, Mossyfall. Currently theyâre all still alive in SpottedClan with Waspfoot. :)

Motherâs Return
To be mended you must be condemned.
After many weeks of tinkering and drawing and editing, I did it! Itâs finished!!! Iâm so thrilled to finally see the finished outcome :)
The story and explanation will be under the cut
Way back then in Pineclan, Moththorn had a young kit, Snakekit, who she loved deeply. But around this time, horrible thoughts and visions festered in her head that put her down, so sheâd often isolate herself from the clan. Snakekit spent the rest of her kithood with her mother absent and wondering why she no longer smiles at her or plays with her. Even in Vespidclan she wonders why her mom âleftâ her family so abruptly⊠It is why Snakevalley decided to become the mother she wished for. She fostered an abandoned kit, Fallenkit. (now grown and named Fallenfox) And has now taken two more under her care, Vinekit and Stonekit.
Something terrible would happen to her sister, Heartflicker, the only Vespidclan healer, which left her injured and unable to work. In need of a cat to quickly take over her duties, Heartflicker picks Stonekit as her apprentice to take her role. This was fine, Stonekit had been taught about some herbs and remedies prior⊠but Stonekit was only 4 moons old. It made Snakevalley furious, and much more on the next moon, sheâd have to see her young daughter become so stressed with her new duties. She tried to reason with Heartflicker. And sheâd argue with the leader, Iciclestar, her other sister, to put a stop to it. But neither of them agreed to follow through. Snakevalley ran off in a fit of anger.
She was still crossed, but she realized that she canât do anything to stop it. The only thing she can do was to be there for Stonepaw through and through. After all, she canât abandon Stonepaw on this. Not like Moththorn did. Before she returned to camp, she heard a loud crash, coming from the thunderpath. A cat had been crushed by a monster, and he was still breathing! She rushed over to rescue him- and was stopped by some force. Suddenly, the world changed around her. Like she was in a completely different area.
And then she saw it. A strange, flat version of⊠herself. It didnât move. It wasnât alive. But it was definitely her. It felt like she shouldnât have seen this, and she really shouldnât have. But she made sure that she did. And she made sure that Snakevalley will not recover from the things she learned and saw from that experience.
Snakevalley awoke back in her clan⊠Broken. After everything sheâs worked for, everything sheâs put her faith in, doing what she can to have the best life she always wanted⊠It didnât matter. It wasnât real. She wasnât real. She was just a flat object. All these thoughts made her go into isolation, and no one understood why. Even though they wanted to, it felt too awkward and tense for her family to check on her. They thought leaving her alone would give her some peace.
It gave her the exact opposite.
404 wanted her mentality to dwindle to no return, just like hers did. It wasnât just because Snakevalley was an obstacle- Snakevalley had everything she wanted. She was blessed with kits. She was blessed with a clan who respected her. Blessed with love. It was everything she wanted to have. And seeing a cat so close to her have all of these things, seeing her dazzle and shine, it was a disgrace to everything she went through. It was indignation. She hated Snakevalley. It was hatred. And she was plagued by these malicious voices of hate, she gave into them. 404 made her decision and she was keen on fulfilling it.
And fulfilled it she did. 404 was relentless to her. She made sure the negative thoughts never ceased. And once the time arrived, when she saw that Snakevalley was at her most vulnerability⊠she gave Snakevalley death berries. She wanted her to eat them. But watching Snakevalley gaze upon her dark predicament made 404 feel⊠remorseful. A âhumanâ feeling, finally, after all this agony of anger. But not a good one. She saw herself in Snakevalley, yes. How she hated seeing that memory. But behind that reflection, from the cracked mirror, there was the daughter she left behind. The one who believed she hated her in kithood. The one who was put into the same anguish she experienced. In the same situation, as the two both held the same plant in their paw⊠But 404 made her decision and Snakevalley made hers.
Neither can undo whatâs been done.
Snakevalley believed that her family hated her. She thought that she didnât deserve to live alongside them, knowing what their true existence is. Snakevalley⊠believed that she was better off dying with this knowledge. She didnât want to die. And yet, 404âs influence had done enough.
Snakevalley ate the death berries. 404 hoped that perhaps a part of Snakevalley recognized her during her final moments⊠That was wishful thinking. Nonetheless, Snakevalley died. Her plan worked. And she would have to join her in Out Of Bounds just like the others.
âŠBut this time, 404 has other intentions for her.
She needed to fix her.
And 404 remembered⊠why mercy was not worth pursuing.
The corruption festers.
I had such a blast working on this. Iâm very happy to draw my beloved Snakevalley again. Maybe I could do something like this again in the future, but for now Iâll resume the comics! Once again I hope you all liked what the video offered and the thorough explanation I gave for the events :â)
