Jack Hughes x fem!reader

Jack is seething. And for no reason,too. Simply because you and Trevor have been hanging out all day on the boat.

You love spending your summers at the Hughes lake house and you have been since you were 19 and started dating jack. His mom and dad are great. His brothers are super cool. You love being around his friends since at this point they are all close to you too.

But Jack being the guy he is can't help but get jealous. And in the back of his mind he knows you would never do anything to hurt him, and especially not with any of his friends but he just can't help it. He wants all your attention to be on him 24/7.

So that brings us to why he is sulking around on the boat.

“Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you? Did you not get some last night or something?”

“Shut the fuck up, Luke.” Jack gazes longingly over at you and Trevor, wishing he could replace his best friend and be the one you’re laughing with.

“Hold up, Jack you aren’t jealous, right? “Oh you totally are. This is hilarious.” Luke laughs.

“I’m glad you find my misery entertaining, Luke.” Jack looks over at you once again, to see that you are now leaning into Trevor and laughing at something on his phone.

“Fuck.” Jack mutters, pulling at the ends of his hair.

“If you’re gonna be fucking pissy about this, just go over there Jack. She loves you so much so I don’t know why you’re so insecure.”

Jack didn’t know either. Neither you or Trevor had ever given him reason to be suspicious but still here he was. He just really didn’t want to lose you.

Jack watches Trevor as he wraps his arm around your shoulders to steady you while you’re shaking with laughter. There isn’t anything other than friendliness in his gesture but it sends Jack over the edge.

He marches over to you and Trevor and stands with a hand on his hip. He’s glaring daggers at the both of you. And he knows he isn’t being fair because there isn’t anything wrong with the two of you hanging out but Jack doesn’t want to share you.

“If you wish to keep your fingers, I’d take your hands off them.” Jack says, in a low, deep voice.

“Chill man, I’m not going for your girl. She’s just really fucking funny.”

Trevor realizes that wasn’t the right thing to say since it seemed to piss him off more.

“Trevor, fuck off let me hang out with my girl since you’ve been hogging her all day.”

Trevor leaves and Jack takes his spot. Gently you place your hands on his chest and turn to face him.

“Jack, what was that about? He’s your best friend and I know you know Trevor wouldn’t make a move on me.”

“I know,” Jack whines, “but he was just hogging all your attention and I wanted to hang out with you. You’re my favourite person in the world.”

“And you are mine. So you never have to worry about me picking anyone over you. You will always be my first choice.”

miss nothing, miss everything

hello! i wrote this in a complete feral blackout after seeing this post about gracefreak hbo claire by @hollywoodbabylondean and today was the perfect day to polish it up and get it posted to celebrate 1k followers for @mrcowboydeanwinchester with some love for the blonde girlie claire! i hope you all enjoy <3

Everything fucking sucks. It’s too cold outside; it’s a hundred hellish degrees inside her motel room (or at least half of it - the side with the bed seems to fluctuate between approximately boiling and absolute zero, but the kitchenette is perma-locked at Floridian-Summer, disgusting humidity included); the last six convenience stores that Claire has hit up haven’t had the twizzlers that she wants, let alone a decent fucking hot meal. She still feels guilty dining and dashing at a real restaurant, especially since these small-town waitresses always do that thing where they decide that Claire needs saving and spend the whole meal trying to get her to open up, so it just feels cruel when she inevitably runs out the back and leaves ’em with the bill.  

The hunting is good, at least - if nothing else is.

There are angels everywhere, really. If a girl knows where to look. And then once she’s looked there and acted the wide-eyed, helpless little runaway part until the scene’s been played out and her pretty little blade has found its mark? Well, that’s when Claire really shines.  

Remnants of last night’s kill are still thrumming underneath her skin, but despite the swirling dregs of it, she craves more. She always does. 

It’s been nearly a decade since she’s had a proper fix, since she was everything and nothing and full of a God that she doesn’t believe in. Nearly a decade since the angel Castiel tore its frozen claws through Claire’s flesh, and she was all of it; all of the heavenly host was her and she was it; a Godless angel, something holy and full of a freezing cold light that burned with its nothingness and its everything. 

But then - then it was gone.  

For a while, Claire was lost.  

Not that she’s found now, but she’s looking. And she finds.  

She finds old churches with their rotting pews and unlocked doors - always unlocked - and she finds herself a dry spot to sit. She folds her hands up real good, the way she was taught, and she closes her eyes real tight. Her story changes, but she never begs. Can’t. Her pride won’t let her.  

Despite her lack of desperation, they come. Sometimes two or three in a week.  

Angels have the power to be all-knowing. All it would take is a single thread of grace woven in through Claire’s brain to see her true intentions, but having that kind of power makes them trusting.  

It doesn’t even see her, it sees the last hundred pathetic and whining prayers it has answered, and it is weak for it. 

Claire hides her angel blade in her jacket, tucked close to her heart. After an especially good fix, Claire swears she can feel it beating with her, some sort of extension of herself.  

The angels always come with a vessel, though. Some poor father or mother or daughter or son plucked out of suburbia and dropped in front of Claire, promising salvation. If they could really offer it, Claire might take them up on it, but she knows the truth. Knows God doesn’t give a fuck about her, and if He did, she’d be no better off.  

So, the angel appears, shoulders pushed back into a soldier’s stance, no matter how unnatural it looks in the body it’s stolen; no matter how at odds with its cooing, careful voice, crafted to appeal to the damaged young girl it thinks it sees standing there. So, the angel appears, and it offers salvation and instead finds its end at the tip of Claire’s blade.  

She calls them kills, but she never kills an innocent. The stupidity of someone else’s faith is none of Claire’s business and part of her doesn’t think they deserve the second chance, but she gives it to them anyway. She carves the angel out of them and takes it into herself, a careful, cleansing inhale.  

And Claire is something again, if only for the time that the grace burns within her. At least, she's not nothing, and that's gotta count for something.

hii!! wanted to tell you that i absolutely love walk in the sun and especially claire, you did such an amazing job. do you have any tips on working on short visual novels on your own?

thank you! it got a little long ^^;;

-give yourself a finishing date (or join a gamejam)

you have to know when to stop! you have to make something presentable. finished is better than perfect. gamejams give you that sense of a countdown. you have to make sure it works!

-give yourself a wordcount (final + daily) + limits

i was working during the two weeks of the jam. so i had to dev for an hour or 2 afterhours lol, then longer on weekends. set a timer. if you wanna work more after do, but if you cant - dont. theres always tomorrow.

writing doesnt come to me as easily as drawing does. because ive learnt to draw for… all my life. make it a habit, and you'll be surprised when your finished.

for walk in the sun it was 500 words a day, because i wanted it to be 10k. then i broke up each scene into smaller goals. didnt reach either of those! thats part of learning how you work. some days i wrote 1k. some days it was 200. i bounced between bgs/menu/coding/sprites but you have to sit down and do it. theres no other way.

10k was a goal, but once i got into it - i realized i wasn't going to hit it / the story didnt need to be that long.

use everything you can to make your life easy. use assets. all of walk in the sun is either photos I took on my phone with a free csp filter on top, or free 3D assets from csp. i cannot make that many bgs in that time. its too much. theres workarounds for everything.

do you really need full body sprites? do you need that many facial sprites? do you really need a third character? how many endings? how many routes? is this a linear story? how many words get this feeling across? claire and jamie didnt have names at the beginning. they were girl a and girl b until i realized it was a pain to code them that way.

limit your palette. walk in the sun was heavily inspired from nokias/old phone screens so all the ui is modeled after that.

i kept a log on a googledoc to track progress and what i had to gather throughout. its good to get your thoughts out and celebrate daily wins.

-know your weakness

i am not a musician in ANY sense of the word. freesound is your friend. i know how to make renpy do what i want, but people with more knowledge than me post code up on lemmasoft and itchio. its there to help you! use it!

-youre better then you think you are

go with your gut. if its your first and youre just getting started - write. you can fix it later. you can get feedback. youre the only person who can tell a story your way. whats important is that you finish it. then you can make the next one! youre only gonna get better.

Knocking softly on his door, y/n quietly slipped in without waiting for his response. From what Sirius told her, he was too knackered to say anything.

Full moon was approaching and as always it was not treating him well. Other than his mood being all over the place, it seemed like his body was physically preparing for the transformation as around this time of the month, he would suffer unbearable pain all over his body.

Not that he’d ever complained, mind you. Y/n had always admired his strength and couldn’t for the love of him, comprehend how he’d ever think anything bad about himself. He was the strongest person she knew. Hell, that all the Marauders knew. 

Not only because he has to go through this enormous pain every month and had never once complained but because despite the cruelty and the ugliness of his condition, Remus had never let it hinder his view on life. He was always so optimistic and kind to everyone. And y/n knew for a fact how much strength kindness and compassion took. 

If there was something though that he didn’t have the stomach to do was to ask for help. 

It took a while for y/n to understand what was going on. She knew of course that he was a werewolf but apart from the actual transformation she knew very little about it. It was not something Remus liked to talk about and she wasn’t close enough to the other Marauders to ask them instead.

So, the first months of their relationship were a bit strained. Because he would disappear for almost a week, a few days before and after the full moon, and at first y/n didn’t understand why. If a part of her knew that it had to do with his condition, the fact that he completely ignored for those days every month hurt her. Surely she could at least know what was going on. Right?

But Remus would always act none the wiser after and y/n was too happy to see he was well to bring up something that might upset him. 

And so time passed and eventually she and Sirius, above everyone else, got quite close. Remus was happy that his girlfriend was becoming part of his group, wanting nothing more than having the people he loved most to get along. 

So, around the third month of their relationship, when the full moon was approaching, and Remus expectedly disappeared, she could finally talk to someone about it.

And what Sirius told her made her worry, yes, but it also broke her heart.

The fact that the sweetest creature on the planet had to go through such a terrible thing was horrible enough but the fact that he was doing so alone? Because he didn’t want to be a bother? Heartbreaking.

“Rem?” 

Walking into the barely lit room, y/n could barely make out Remus’ shape under the sheets. But she knew where he was and so covered the familiar distance between the door and his bed.

Remus’ rest during this time would always be barely effective and practically consisted of him trying to sleep but restlessly shifting in bed. Numb with pain, he barely registered the door opening and closing but he did hear a voice. Not sure if it was a dream or not, he barely grunted and laid on his back.

He opened his eyes but couldn’t see anything, although he was now aware that there was someone in the room.

“It’s me.” Answered a voice he knew well almost as if she could hear his unspoken question.

He was about to ask her what was she doing here when a wave of pain suddenly shot through him and he ended up hissing instead. Shushing him, y/n quickly removed her shoes and climbed onto the bed. Mindful of his pain, she laid down carefully next to him. 

“It’s okay, I’m here.” At this, almost like a wounded puppy, he nudged his head closer to her. Taking this as a green light to touch him, y/n gently cradled his body closer to hers in a light embrace.

“You’ll never have to go through this alone, I promise.”

"Did you actually try it yet?"

"No but it's fine. I wanted you to try it first."

You and Quinn have a stare down. You don't want to be mean but every time Quinn cooks and you try it you want to throw up. It's always disgusting.

"Fine if you won't put the food in your mouth I will."

"What?" You asked shocked.

"Here comes the airplane." Quinn says, laughing.

You deadpan your boyfriend. "I can feed myself, Quinton."

"Too bad. You are eating my food." And with that he puts the spoon in your mouth and you have no choice but to chew and swallow.

"So, what do you think?"

"Quinn, that was singlehandedly the most disgusting thing i have ever eaten. It was revolting."

"No it's not, watch." Quinn shoves a spoonful into his mouth and you watch him force himself to swallow.

"See, very, very good." He grimaces as he gets the words out.

"Sure, whatever you say Quinn."

Conspiracy in Emerson's dev blog approaches 1k followers! 🎈

As the silliest of celebrations for this milestone, I'll be doing a Big Fat Character Question & Answer session with a bunch of the student characters (and two faculty members)!

I wish I could announce something more substantial for this benchmark, but honestly? I'm moving from Africa back to North America next month and I'm pretty busy wrapping up personal things and prepping! So this is all I can reasonably do while I've got all this going on. Luckily, the biggest boons of this move are that I'll finally have the space and resources to manage my depression and help improve my inattention in a way that actually produces results. It's a very busy but exciting few months ahead!

Ok, anyway—

Character Q&A Rules:

- Questions and answers will be compiled into a post for each character or character combination, then those will be published once the blog reaches 1000 followers. For easy reference!

- Most asks cannot be meant for "everyone" to answer 'cause I'd never get any of this done. So just use your discretion for that sort of question! “Whatcha doin' there, kid?”

Jack looked up from a tangle of colorful yarn on the kitchen table and a paused youtube video on the laptop in front of him. “Making friendship bracelets!”

Dean grabbed a mug from a cabinet and went to the coffee maker. “Doing what now?”

“It’s Friendship Day today and I want to make one for Claire.” He looked at the yarn in his hands which Dean could now tell was threaded together into a pattern. “And Kaia and Alex and Jody and Donna.” He sighed dramatically. “I have a lot to do.”

“Didn’t know Friendship Day was a thing,” Dean said, sitting across from him.

“Me either!” Jack said. “But Google said it was today and I have a lot of friends so I need to celebrate.” He weaved the orange and red threads together. “You should make one!”

Dean snorted and took a drink from his mug. “Think I’m a little too old for friendship bracelets.”

That was something he remembered girls in middle school doing. Making them during recess, passing them around during lunch. Supposed to wear one and never take it off, some superstition about not breaking the bonds of friendship. Never got one himself, so he couldn't say whether that had any truth to it or not.

He blinked to realize Jack was dumping yarn in front of him. “What?”

“I have extras, I flew to the craft store this morning to buy some.”

Dean recognized the determined look in Jack’s eyes; he’d seen it too many times in Cas’. "I dunno how to make one,” he tried as a last ditch effort to get out of this project.

Jack turned his laptop around so they could both see the screen. “I have a tutorial. It’s really easy.”

Setting down his mug with a sigh, Dean started rooting through the yarn, choosing different colors. Friendship Day. At another time, he would’ve told Jack he didn’t have any friends to make bracelets for. That wasn’t true anymore; the bunker was always getting visitors—hunters from other states, Benny, Charlie, Jody, Donna or one of the girls.

He realized the colors he was setting aside were all different shades of blue. Sure, he and Cas were a lot more than friends—he had a blooming hickey on his inner thigh to prove it—but he knew the way Cas’ eyes would light up receiving one. And, anyway, they were friends. Had been for a long time now.

Jack tapped the play button on the youtube video and it was settled. Cas was getting a friendship bracelet.

Maybe not a perfect one, Dean thought half an hour later, sticking his tongue out in concentration as he tried to make the bracelet turn out straight and not all wonky. He tested the length around his own wrist and decided it looked decent. Pretty good for his first ever friendship bracelet.

“Done,” he announced, looking up to see Jack starting on a third. “Jesus, kid, slow down.”

Jack didn’t look up, weaving the purple and white yarn together. “Can’t. I have to make one for Charlie too, just remembered.”

“She’ll love that.” He could almost hear Charlie’s excitement now. Getting to his feet, he ruffled Jack’s hair. “You got a lot of lucky friends. Having you as a friend, I mean.”

Jack beamed up at him. “I’m lucky too.”

And Dean thought he was the luckiest of all to get Cas as a friend-plus-more. He found the angel sitting in the library, reading a Pottery Barn magazine, the picture of contentment.

At his entrance, Cas looked up and smiled. “I found a bookshelf that I think would look nice in our room.” He turned the magazine around so Dean could see.

“Cool.” Dean hovered near his chair, suddenly feeling sheepish holding the thin bracelet in his hand. He cleared his throat. “Hey, you, uh. You know what day it is?”

Cas turned a page in the magazine. "Sunday, August 1st. 2021. 3:12pm. And seven seconds."

"No, it's like a special day."

Cas frowned, looking up at him. “Is today another human holiday I’m unaware of?”

“Nah, it’s not that important. Just, uh. Friendship Day. Jack told me. He’s making friendship bracelets for Claire and Charlie and everyone.”

Cas smiled. “That’s very sweet of him.”

“I kinda made you one. To celebrate, or whatever.” He held out the bracelet.

Cas’ eyes widened going from the dangling bracelet to him. “You made one for me?”

“Yeah, uh. Figured we’re friends, right?” Feeling his face heat, he ducked his head to take Cas’ hand and tie it around his wrist. “Just a weird thing people do.”

Cas turned his wrist to study the bracelet more closely. “I think it’s a wonderful sentiment. I didn’t know you were skilled at bracelet making.”

“Dude, it’s not that hard.” He sat down on the arm of the chair, more to hide his red face than anything. “Jack’s look way better.”

“I love it,” Cas said decisively. “If I had known about today, I would’ve made you one too.”

“It’s not a big deal.”

“It is,” Cas insisted. He ran his finger over the bracelet, blue threads forming a pattern more even in some places than others. “You’re my best friend.”

The simple statement, said so definitively, made Dean a little dizzy. Leaning down, he kissed Cas, felt the bracelet brush his face when Cas cupped his jaw. “You're mine too.”

Cas kissed him back, then tugged him off the arm of the chair to half-sit in his lap. The magazine slipped to the floor and Dean shifted, wrapping an arm around Cas’ shoulders to steady himself. He tapped the bracelet. “You’re not supposed to take it off. Kinda a symbol or whatever. Friends for life.”

Cas nodded solemnly and hovered his palm over the bracelet, a glow warming the strands before subsiding. "Nothing can break it, so I can wear it forever." He leaned his head back against Dean’s arm to meet his eyes.

“And, uh, if you made me a bracelet, I would wear it.”

“I will, then.” A slow smile spread across his face. “Does this mean we’re BFFs?” Dean groaned, and Cas laughed. “Claire taught me that phrase.”

“That’s so corny,” Dean complained. But he kissed him again. “Hell yeah we are.”
