I’ve been challenged by one of my mentors @fairchildkat to post a selfie somewhere, (notice my little “out” there?) for 30 days in a #30daysofmaskcara challenge. The purpose isn’t to just get our faces out on social media but to encourage us to do something each day to help us feel more put together and therefore more confident. If I’m honest, because I work from home mostly, and I put makeup on other people as a job, I’m often the last person I give attention to or find time to put makeup on. It’s easy for me to say, “No one is going to see me today so why bother?” It’s a common excuse that leads to feeling more free and relaxed at first. Then after a couple days it turns into feeling not so good about myself and realizing if I just put a little effort -5 minutes really -into my appearance, I feel better. It’s not for the people who are going to see me, it’s for ME. As moms, we tend to think all of our time, effort and worry should go 100% to the people we love but as I say so often, we’re no good to them if we’re not at our healthiest (mentally & physically) and happiest. So whether it’s a little makeup, hair spray or NOT wearing sweats every day...that small effort put towards feeling more put together and more confident, gives back to us tenfold by filling our cup. That’s beauty on the inside, and it shows on the outside. I’m not a big fan of taking selfies but I’m getting better and more confident with each one. Day 92 - If you know me and my son you know that him cooking is a BIG DEAL! It's one of the skills he has been working on. Logan's little sister taught him how to make French Toast (thank you Sawyer) and with Grand Central bread no less. 6 months ago it would have been some gross white bread fakeness.
