Jasper: He's my courier who's yes man aligned. He tries to be extremely upbeat and cheerful (think, useless ray of sunshine). He always tries to see the best in people's which means he's very good at getting scammed. If someone were to overcharge him for some medicine he would go "aw must have taken them so much time and effort to produce, and they're offering it to me, worth every cap :)" He also will see actual horrors unfolding and still try to see the good in a person. Like in Nipton seeing Vulpes. Whilst horrified at the crimes, he looks at him and goes "oh :( what made you this way. You can be better. I'm sorry they made you like this" despite the fact that the whole town is actively on fire. He believes in peace and diplomacy but can be a huge pushover. However he is extremely good at bandaging wounds. If he didn't get shot in the head and demand answers, he'd be a doctor.

August: My legion frumentarii who hates the legion! He got taken by the legion when his village was invaded. He's not violent by nature. But he knew that being peaceful would lead to his death. He did what he could to survive and discovered his knack for spying. Allowing him to become a frumentarii, he was pleased, hoping he wouldn't have to kill anymore. He was extremely devastated when he found out this wasn't always the case. A skilled actor. He uses this to his advantage, if he had his way, he would be performing on stage in many shows. Has a habit of taking notes on everything he sees. This has a tendency to wind up the other people around him.

Noah: Originally a joke character between me and a friend who became his own decently serious character. He works for the NCR designing propaganda for them. He likes being left alone and drawing hunched over. Has a strange relationship with the legion, as he knows he should despise them, but he has friends and family who are surviving in there. So he believes there must still be good people in there somewhere, despite the atrocities. In his propaganda, he will draw people who loosely resemble those who got taken by the legion so that on the off chance those people see the posters, they know he's still thinking of them.

Claire: Noah's older sister and dedicated NCR soldier. She takes extreme pride in serving the NCR and is passionate about following all orders to a T. She attacks most tasks with a frightening zeal and many are pleased she's on their side. Unlike her brother, she holds nothing but disgust for the legion for taking her family and friends, and vows to crush the legion to prevent anyone else going through the same fate as her loved ones. Every time there is a potential chance for a NCR and Legion clash. She is the first to volunteer to step in.

Ferox: My horrible horrible centurion, he holds the legion in high regards and vehemently believes in their ideals. Ruthless and bloodthirsty, he has little in the way of friends in the legion due to his offputting and intimidating air. He doesn't mind. As he believes that he is the most loyal person in the legion and everyone else is below him, he refuses to talk to anyone he believes is "lesser" than him. His violent nature and arrogance make him highly detested and feared in and out of the legion. From the same village as August, he fought hard to survive, but came to appreciate the legion over time, losing sight of how he even got there in the first place. Claire later defeats him. (Which is good because I hate him and he's only a character so I can practice writing awful people)

Character Introduction: Claire Augustus (she/her), from Questionable Content

"Claire is introduced to the comic as 24-year-old graduate student in library sciences interning at the college library where one of the main characters Marten works. She eventually starts dating Marten and moves in with with him & his roommates. After graduating, she started working at the coffee shop that most of the cast hangs out at, while still trying to find a librarian job. In the currently ongoing storyline, she got a job opportunity to be head librarian at Cubetown, a research community created by AIs (the fictional actually sentient robot kind, not the real world ChatGPT kind) floating off the coast of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She and Marten are planning on moving there for the job."

Part 3 of DIABOLICAL YURI POSTING!!

In chapter 4/5 (don’t know yet haha), Emmy comes up with a plan to find out who the masked gentleman is! D.Y Emmy!!

She sets up a date for Hershel with the Masked Gentleman, thinking I’d be a good plan to find out who’s under the mask. Hershel tries her best to refuse this idea since she doesn’t like men that much but figured she’d give it a try. Emmy and Flora are on the balcony area looking down at the table where Hershel and The Masked Gentleman is sitting.

The Masked Gentleman Eventually reveals themselves to be a woman and the long lost lover of Hershel, Randall ascot. After some crying and hugging, Randall holds onto Hershel as she flys them up and into one of the hotel suites. Leaving Emmy to take care of Flora for the rest of the day. Emmy tries to tell the information to the police but they don’t believe her since she has no visible proof with her other than Herself and Flora. After this attempt fails, Emmy decides to take Flora to one of the local casinos. Knowing Hershel would get mad at her, she does this anyways to be “cool aunty Emmy” (Flora’s words, not Emmy’s).

Speaking of Flora though, HERE SHE IS!

In this au, Flora is Hershel’s adopted daughter! After the loss of Lady Dahlia and Baron Augustus, she felt obligated to take her under her roof. She’s 10 years old and hasn’t been enrolled in school for a while. After the events of Her game and Randall’s game, Hershel decides to enroll her in school!

Some Info Regarding Dahlia and Augustus;

Hershel knew Dahlia in her college days, they dated for a bit but split paths when Dahlia met Augustus and Hershel met Claire. Though they continued to be friends and kept in touch after college. Hershel would write funny little puzzles in letters she’d send to the Reinhold household. She got a final letter from Dahlia, talking about a trip she and Augustus were taking out to sea to look at rare stones in shrines and temples. After this letter she hadn’t heard from Dahlia or Augustus in a while till Emmy showed up and talked to Hershel about visiting them.

Dahlia and Augustus discovered the rare stones and wanted to bring them back to their home. Unfortunately, Targent came and ransacked and destroyed the boat they were on.

After arriving to the Reinhold household, Emmy is extremely surprised to see what looked like Dahlia and Augustus, Since she was the one who took out their ship.

Emmy info- She works for Descole, Targent, and Hershel! When she gets information from Hershel, she’ll tell that to either Descole or Leon. If she gets information from Descole, she’ll tell Leon. She doesn’t pass information to Hershel to not break the bond that she has with her and Flora. After Randall’s game, Emmy would do anything for Flora and to see her happy. She never really liked kids, having none of her own, but Flora changed that. She is very proud to be an aunt in Flora’s eyes.

Welcome to the Layton NPC Showdown!

This is a bracket to determine which of the many memorable NPCs from across the Professor Layton games are the greatest.

GAMES INCLUDED: Every game except LBMR. Eternal Diva characters are also not included here.

WHAT COUNTS AS AN NPC?: Anyone who doesn't have a puzzle animation. Characters excluded are Layton, Luke, Flora, Clive, Emmy, Randall, Aurora, Des, Espella, Phoenix, Maya, Katrielle, Ernest, Sherl, Hastings, and Emiliana.

WILL THERE BE NOMINATIONS?: Nope! Every NPC will be included.

WHAT ABOUT THE LAYTONMOBILE/MOLENTARY EXPRESS?: No vehicles. Not characters.

WHAT ABOUT THE PUZZLE LADS/LASSES?: I only plan on including characters that we can speak to in-game, so no Puzzle Lads or Lasses. Sorry to the people who like them 😔

WHICH CHARACTERS ARE INCLUDED, THEN?: Anyone who isn't an exception listed above that is in the profiles of the game! A full list is enclosed below.

WHEN WILL THE TOURNAMENT START?: More information forthcoming on that! I have to seed the bracket first :)

WHY IS NAIYA YOUR ICON?: In my opinion, she's one of the more underrated NPCs of the series. I'll probably cycle through some of the ones I have available to me right now.

WHAT CRITERIA SHOULD I VOTE ON?: Whatever makes you happy :)

ARE ALTER EGOS SEPERATE CHARACTERS?: No. For instance, Ratman is not included because his secret identity is in the tournament.

US OR UK NAMES?: I will try to make available as many names for the NPCs as possible! Which includes their Japanese names and as many names in the localizations as I am able to obtain from the wiki and my own sources. I'll probably reliably have the English (both versions where applicable), Japanese, and French names for every character when I do the bracket rounds. The list below however is entirely in English.
