When @paexgo-rosa asked me about the meanings of the Disney Princes names, I wasn't able to give one for Cinderella's Prince, because the Disney version doesn't name him.

I don't like to call him Prince Charming: that's just a cultural nickname for all fairy tale princes.

Fortunately, there are plenty of other Cinderella adaptations that do give the prince a name, so I thought I'd share those names' meanings.

Christopher (his name in every version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical, and presumably Disney's 2015 film too, since "Kit" is usually short for Christopher): "Bearer of Christ."

Henry (his name in the Faerie Tale Theatre adaptation and the film Ever After: A Cinderella Story): "Home ruler."

Charles (the film The Glass Slipper and the anime Cinderella Monogatari): "Free man."

Charmont (Massenet's opera Cendrillon and the book and film Ella Enchanted): "Charming."

Ramiro (Rossini's opera La Cenerentola): "Renowned councilor" or "great judge."

Arthur (the Muppets' Hey, Cinderella!): "Bear" or "bear king."

Edward (the film The Slipper and the Rose): "Wealthy guard."

John (the anime My Favorite Fairy Tales): "God is gracious."

Felipe (the series Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child): "Horse lover."

Nicolo (the musical A Tale of Cinderella): "Victory of the people."

Leonhard (the Märchenperlen adaptation): "Brave as a lion."

Viktor (the Sechs auf einen Streich adaptation): "Victorious."

Theodore (Deutscher's opera): "Gift from God."

Sebastian (Lloyd Webber's musical): "Revered."

Robert (the Sony/Amazon movie musical): "Bright fame."

For that matter, let's look at the meanings of his full name in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical:

Edit: Prince Charming is leading the support group—as in, he’s helping the others get through this. And yes, Aladdin should be there. He wished to be a prince, but that was a superficial wish. He doesn’t know how to be Sultan. And he was nervous about it. Did you watch the movie?

I have SO many thoughts about everything and they are in no kind of order yet, so here's just some quick little bits in the meantime!

I am not normal about any of these characters!

This was honestly my favorite bit from the new Once upon a Studio short.

Please pleaseee more Yandere male Cinderella!!!!

You are from a wealthy noble family, whose family are friends with the Tremaines.

When you saw Elliot's (Male Cinderella/Ella) condition, you felt sympathy at how the Tremaines treats him.

He's soft-spoken and charming at first, after he accept your kind acts, mistaking it for romantic gestures.

"This gift is for me?...but I don't deserve such kindness!"

And he may have a fragile sense of self-worth, making his need for your approval obsessive.

Cinderella's cruel stepfamily could serve as an advantage, showing why he clings to you so desperately.

Or perhaps one of the step siblings develops feelings for you, igniting Cinderellon's jealousy.

But what really sets him off is when you say that you will go to the ball held by the king to have his son, the prince, choose a wife.

Elliot is determined to attend the royal ball to capture your attention, even though his charming intention hides an intense possessiveness, as he vows to not let anyone else dance with you.

When his step siblings destroy his outfit for the ball, he decides to kill them by poisoning their food...and the food of his step mother.

Then a fairy appeared after he buried their bodies in his backyard.

Well, he was going to kill them anyway, so he can have his home and status back.

Elliot believes that providing you with the best life style is what you deserve.

The fairy godmother granted him his wish to go to the ball in the best clothes and carriage.

He also asked for a little something from her, a magical necklace that would enchant you in falling for him.

When he arrives to the ball, everyone was entranced by him, but you were already too focused, dancing with the prince.

He walks over to you both with a gentle smile, before offering his hand to you.

"If you allow me, my prince, I would like to steal my fiancee for a dance."

The prince was shocked as you were, but the prince agreed despite wanting to spend more time with you.

"Elliot...you look different tonight, and those shoes are beautiful."

"I want you to see me in my best as you saw in my worst."

Through the dance, Elliot leans and places his lips against yours, confessing his love.

And you also confessed yours.

Resulting in a happily ever after with him.

Or is it a happily ever after? I mean prince charming seems to also want you.

So This Is Love is an underrated Disney love song. Ilene Woods and Mike Douglas’ voices and the lyrics are so beautiful in it, so I ended up with the urge to draw Cinderella and her prince.

Now that all of Chris Pine's characters have been eliminated, it's time to determine by popular vote...

One other point for now: The Prince. A little bland perhaps, with very little on-screen time given to him, but he still has something going for him.

For me, one reason I see why he fell for Cinderella occurred when she had to flee - with her excuse of having yet to meet The Prince. At that moment, there could be no illusion in his mind that she loved him for him. And not for his Status and Wealth. Makes me believe that that was the main reason he was Bored to Tears until he noticed Cinderella. Well, that and apparently knowing full well what his father was attempting to arrange, or so I've heard...

Oh yes. He presumably knows full well that most of the other ladies only care about becoming royalty, not about him as a person.

That's why in some other adaptations, he deliberately wears plain clothes to the ball, and either has a servant pretend to be the prince in his place or just leaves his presence unannounced, so he can find a girl who likes him for himself.

Maybe in the Disney version, the fact that Cinderella doesn't even notice him when she first enters is part of what captures his attention, in addition to her beauty.
