For Sparta! | Part 9 | Upsetting The Odds In The Championship
#FM24 #ForSparta! Part 9: Upsetting The Odds In The Championship. @SpartansFC returned to Scottish tier 2 with some optimism that they could again defy the odds. But not even King Leonidas expected them to have a shot at the playoffs! Read here:
King Leonidas was granted iconic status by The Spartans FC supporters as led his unfancied charges to an unlikely League 1 title at the first time of asking. That meant his Spartan army were set for their 4th campaign in the cinch Championship with everyone expecting them to fail. The Spartans board continued to refuse Leonidas’ requests to go professional – and he was certain nothing would…

Southampton Starlet Leaves On Loan After 'Summer-Long Chase'
Scottish Premiership club St Mirren have re-signed fullback Thierry Small on loan from Championship outfit Southampton for the rest of the season, the club have officially confirmed. This will be the third loan spell of Small’s infant career, having joined the Saints from Premier League club Everton back in 2021 in rather controversial terms after the Toffees rejected Southampton’s offer of £1.5…

Shot Through The Heart IV
Alexia Putellas x Archer!Reader
Summary: Your last final
Tumblr media
You smiled at your girls. At nearly ten years old, they were growing like weeds.
Alexia had hung up her boots nearly six months ago and now it was your turn. It was your last world championship ever. It had been a good few years for you but you knew it was time to retire.
Your medals were getting a bit cluttered and Alexia was adamant that you didn't need as many bows as you had.
You knew it was time.
Your girls were forging their own paths. Maya loved football like Alexia loved football and Elena had scratched herself on one of your arrows once and had been hooked ever since.
It was time to move away from your sport and focus on your daughters.
Alexia had moved on to coaching at Barca and you had your own coaching planned. You'd received offers from your old team in Korea but had benched the idea with a simple 'maybe in a few years' as you wanted to focus on your girls first.
You rolled your shoulders as Alexia stood behind you, adjusting your shoulder brace.
"Not too tight?" She asked.
"It's good," You confirmed," I'm ready."
Alexia smiled at you fondly, cupping your cheek. "Girls!" She called," Your mum is about to head out! Wish her luck!"
Elena barrelled into you quickly, her arms moving to hug you tight. "You need to win!" She said," You have to win!"
"I'll try my best," You laughed," But you and your sister have got to be super quiet during the shots, alright? Do you remember why?"
"Because it's respectful."
"It's boring," Maya muttered as she approached. She usually had football practice today but Alexia had taken her out of it because today was the last final of your life. Maya hadn't really taken it well, perhaps not really understanding how important this was.
"Maya," Alexia said in warning," Enough."
Your girls may not have been teenagers yet but Maya certainly acted like one.
"I'm just saying!"
"This is your mum's last tournament ever," Alexia chided," And you will support her in it because we are a family. How would you like it if me and your mum didn't come to your games? Huh?"
"Sorry, mum." Maya moved to give you a hug and you held her nice and tight, opening your arms to welcome Elena back in as well.
"Good luck," Alexia said as you moved to head out, shouldering your bow as the tournament staff waited outside for you," Not that you'll need it."
"I'll take it anyway," You said, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
Unlike football games, crowds at archery tournaments sat in silence. The target sat seventy metres away from you and you closed your eyes briefly to focus on the wind. It was barely there and you smiled. If there was one thing you hated, it was shooting in the wind.
You shook hands with your opponent, smiling at her in recognition. You used to play on the same team when you played in Korea. She was a few years younger than you so you never really interacted but it was nice to see her.
You weren't going to let her win though.
Archery had always been easy for you. It was repetitive and calming.
Notch.
Draw.
Release.
Repeat.
You matched it to your breathing, one eye closing to line up your shot. You drew on the inhale and released on the exhale.
Ten.
Ten.
Ten.
Ten.
Your opponent was nearly as good as you but there was a reason you had been world number one for years.
You rarely missed the ten.
Sometimes it wasn't a proper bullseye but you knew how to aim your shots so there was another space in the circle for the rest of your arrows.
Your opponent consistently hit tens too but dotted inside her shots were a few nines and a disastrous six in her last set that let you know you had cinched the victory.
But, still, this was going to be your last competitive shot.
You made sure to make it memorable.
A bullseye.
You smiled, shaking her hand and the rest of her team's before looking up at the stands to see your wife and children. Elena looked ecstatic. You weren't surprised. She'd loved coming to practice with you ever since she could walk.
Maya was equally excited, jumping up and down even though her heart was firmly settled on football.
Alexia blew you a kiss as you began to get ushered away for the medal ceremony.
You accepted it happily, pretending to bite it for the cameras before excusing yourself as soon as you could.
"I'm so proud of you, amor!" Alexia came out of nowhere. She leapt into your arms and you had to drop your bow to catch her.
You spun her around with a laugh that got muffled against her lips against yours.
"Did you enjoy the match, girls?" You were talking to your children but didn't look away from Alexia, who was pressing soft, fluttering kisses all over your face.
"You're so cool, mum!" Elena said," Can you teach me how to shoot like that?"
"Let's wait until you're strong enough to draw a proper bow, Elena, but after that, definitely."
"Maya?" Alexia said, still refusing to leave your arms," What about you? Do you have something to say?"
Maya huffed like a moody teenager. "I guess archery isn't as boring as I thought."
You laughed. "Thanks, kid. High praise."
She puffed out her cheeks. "You know what I mean."
"I do." You hefted Alexia up higher and grinned. "Come on, you lot. I'm starving."

maxiel, galex, scaniel, brocedes!
OOOH OK I am ready.
Maxiel: makes sense, compels the FUCK out of me
I genuinely don’t think there’s been a ship that has compelled me like Maxiel. They make me so insane and I’ve spent the last 8 months of my life going up and down all 200ish AO3 pages in the tag like some kind of deranged possum, searching for more Maxiel content. They just make so much sense in my mind. You have Max, who has been taught his entire life that his only purpose in life is to win races, who is this angry, strung up little kid when he first joins F1…and then he meets Daniel, who is so kind and charismatic and has always been taught to enjoy the moment and the process of it all and just treats him with so much love even when he’s not winning or when he’s getting criticized by the media…and Max finally learns how to enjoy life outside of racing for the first time. Even outside of the general RPF scene of it all, the absolute pivotal Maxiel moments are so important and have so much significance in the grand scheme of the sport. Daniel leaving Red Bull because of Max (to an extent) which then caused a ripple effect on a whole bunch of people’s careers and ultimately led to the Horrors that we are currently living through, but at the end of the day, it’s about “If it can’t be me, I’m glad it’s him” and that fastest lap into “Thank you, Daniel.” Yeah, I could talk about them for DAYS if given the chance.
Galex: makes sense, compels me
They’re everythingggg to me. I love the childhood friends to lovers thing they have going on. The Galex lore is so interesting, like the throat infection incident, the collarbone biking accident, the whole thing about George being Alex’s hype man/personal photographer as a kid… underrated ship fr. They have the best chemistry and their sense of humour actually work so well together, and I NEED more content from them. I also CANNOT ship either of them with anyone else because it just does! Not! Work! In my head. They are each other’s ride or die and I love that for them.
Scaniel: makes sense, does not compel me
I love their friendship a lot and I think they have so much weird gay energy between them, but unfortunately my day one Daniel ship is still Maxiel. I think Scaniel has potential for growth, but unfortunately they do kinda give off besties to me. I will admit they have had some good, shippable moments, but Scotty just feels like a straight man in my mind. I think it’s just the DR effect (every man within a 5 mile radius falls in love with him) that drives this ship forward tbh.
Brocedes: makes sense, compels me A LOT
THIS is THE SHIP of all ships. The lore goes so hard and it’s so devastating to me. I’m a sucker for a good childhood friends to lovers to enemies storyline, so they are right up my alley. It’s just the most insane story that when I tried explaining it to my casual F1 fan friend, they asked me if it was from a movie and I was like NO! This is irl!!! The way that they have a 6 hour, 3 part YouTube docuseries about their relationship is crazy. No other ship has as much angst as them, and no one will ever come close to being them. It’s the way that they fundamentally are a part of each other’s careers and that you cannot mention one without the other, it’s the way that Nico talks about that era of his life and how he could only stomach their childhood favourite cereal on the weekend before cinching the championship, how he ruined his body and soul to beat Lewis and how his retirement changed Lewis’ whole outlook on the sport!!! And through it all, there is an awkward third-wheel in the form of either Daniel Ricciardo or Sebastian Vettel just smiling through the most disgusting vibes a room could ever have, which, in my opinion, adds to the whole drama of the ship. This ship has so much narrative and character and it is so so devastating to think about, I need to see or make a Brocedes movie before I die.

i think there’s plenty of proof too!!!! that nagosaka’s time is coming!!!! it’s really hard to be patient when only rei, obviously lol, has been the only one to be a part of the plot so far lol
kuukou and rei have functionally served the same role in their respective teams so far, so your observation about their inner speech bubbles is really neat lol!!!! (unrelatedly this is why i think nagosaka switch on being the last division bc rei and kuukou affect ichiro in this third act lol) whatever rei has in store is in relation to his wife, be it bringing about her ideal world (what he’s trying to get ichiro in on i think, despite making himself the enemy lol) or something else, and i feel like sasara is going to want to return the favour for bringing him and rosho back together. rosho hopefully will still be the heart of dh and keep them in check if need be lol
i haven’t yet managed to make this post lol, but that unami chapter i think is playing into the concept of karma that’s always been floating around kuukou, where his actions and intent have paid off in various ways, one of which was getting him out of trouble he voluntarily put himself in. kuukou has to be getting into trouble in this next arc, like it just has to happen lol, and a good way to show the affects of that good karma he accumulated in harmonious cooperation and really show that bat’s a family that puts their lives on the line for each other by getting jyushi and hitoya to save him lol. bc that has to happen, some vibe overlap with fp i think is a given but rather than gendice trying to save ramuda from forces they can’t control, it’d be kuukou being saved from something he’s willingly subjecting himself to
if we get bb vs bat (a matchup i’m fearful of simply bc bb has the bigger jp fandom lol) i don’t think kuukou’s gripe with ichiro would be any perceived imbalance of feelings but that hesitation and inaction he said he’s never liked about ichiro, something we’ve seen kuukou lead ichiro from twice, in the unami chapter and in the youthful riot track, and commented on during bb vs dh. kuukou and ichiro want the exact same thing but i can see them maybe differing on approach
the guidebook➕ specifically mentioned the true hypnosis mic affects each target in different ways and it’d be kinda neat to see sasara and kuukou (and nemu too maybe) experience different after effects!!!! kuukou with forgetfulness, sasara’s new piercings on his ears are on an acupuncture point used to help with migraines so maybe he has bad headaches but it’s not very plot relevant in those terms lol. tho having effects at all lends into how inhumane the true hypnosis mic is, which is a plot point lol
@thedragonofbadasstemple that post was getting a little too long for me to keep reblogging lol
my hypmic collection goals has pretty much dwindled to getting kuukou plushies and mochi set variants only lmao like i used to aim to decorate my walls with merch, buy preorders for bonuses and tho admittedly a lot of that has slowed to help fund this trip to japan lol, i have been looking at merch like ‘do i need that????’ instead the usual impulse buy lol
i enjoyed the rep squad stages and would love to buy the ones i enjoyed the most in addition to bop2023 but it really is difficult to keep up with both canon and stage items when they both cost ¥8000 usually lol
i think it’s bc we’ve seen what hypmic has done with its characters and story that we, as nagosaka fans, expect it to happen for our faves and i don’t think it’s unfair to do so lol. we’ve all had our guesses and observations and had fun coming to conclusions based on crumbs but i think by everyone swinging on by to voice their complaints, we have loooong reached that point where it’s just not sustainable and feels more neglectful than anything. so even tho it’s exhausting lol, i think we should keep on having those high expectations and keep the pressure on kr to provide lol

Just For Fun: Skating Analysis
A vast majority of the side-character cast are seen ice-skating in Snowball Skate.
Tumblr media
Sarah, while alone, is shown to barely be able to stand idle without losing balance. However, by keeping a hold of Duck, she's seen happily skating around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Duck by himself is very skilled, being able to perform a successful jumping spin moments after he was shown losing his balance on the ice.
Tumblr media
Seeing as the Ribbon Sisters are acrobats already, skating is a cinch to them.
Tumblr media
Flamingo and John seem to employ a similar method of skating as Sarah and Duck, using their birds for balance.
Tumblr media
Scooter Boy is seen slowly sliding along the perimeter of the rink while never letting go of the railing, before slipping and having to barely hold on. Which is frankly very funny to me.
Tumblr media
Plate Girl is seemingly good at skating, as she's skating along the perimeter with no balance methods, holding her plate in front of her almost akin to a steering wheel. She's even shown shutting door to the rink closed as she goes by it in the top gif.
Scarf Lady, as seen numerous times in the episode, is very good at skating. This is fitting as she was a competitor in the Winter Sports Championships.
The Librarian also seems well-adjusted to skating, taking slow, drawn out motions as he circles around the inner part of the rink.
Bread Man should not be allowed to skate, as he's seen losing his balance to such a degree that he almost flings Cake over the railing and has to dive to catch him.
Music Lady and Cloud Captain are shown to manage skating well, even holding onto each other and skating side by side with no difficulty.

did nico really flop that hard in 2015?
he didn't flop as badly as checo, but he made a few crucial mistakes that let lewis cinch the championship in Texas. I haven't rewatched 2015 yet, but from my rudimentary understanding nico was a quali merchant (Monaco baby) but fucked up in the race, and this is when merc reliability wasn't great so nico DNF'd twice and it was joeover 🥲
nico started from pole at the US Grand Prix and had he won that race the championship would still be in contest, but he made a mistake and lewis not only won the race but the championship too. then nico locked himself in his hotel room, then partied with lewis, and won the next 3 races and ended the season 59 points below lewis 🥹 for comparison, max is currently 314 points and checo is 189 😅
but I would love someone with more knowledge on the 2015 season to elaborate if they want!

For Sparta! | Part 7 | Crazy Relegation Fight
#FM24 #ForSparta! Part 7: Crazy Relegation Fight. @SpartansFC endure another tough season in the cinch Championship, in which the relegation fight again goes all the way to the wire. And a crazy final day sees the bottom 6 split by 4 points. Read here:
The Spartans FC just about managed to stay in the cinch Championship for a 3rd campaign as King Leonidas’ young side finished 8th amid a really tight relegation battle. And it seemed another tough campaign lay in waiting. The Spartans board yet again decided going professional wasn’t a financially sound move, yet deemed it suitable to spend a ludicrous £1.4m on training facility upgrades –…

Wrestlemania Main Event Reviews - Wrestlemania XXXV
Becky Lynch def. Ronda Rousey (c) and Charlotte Flair (c) for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship and WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship in 21:30 (Rousey entered as Raw Women's Champion, Flair entered as Smackdown Women's Champion)
The first women’s main event! Flair is in a helicopter approaching the stadium, she lands outside and gets the red carpet rolled out for her as she exits. She takes off her jacket and gets her robe put on ready for her match. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts are here to play Bad Reputation as Ronda enters! Charlotte heads down to the ring as fireworks go off in the distance. Then here’s Becky! She’s got a whole new look here which I always thought looked super cool! The crowd chant to her theme and the sea of Becky signs are ready!
They stand off to begin Becky goes for the arm of Ronda as Flair stands off. The other two fight in the corner and Becky gets sent out the ring. Ronda targets Flair and sends her outside too! Ronda hits a judo slam into the barricade on Becky, and another to Flair on the floor, She further targets Becky but gets caught with a suplex into the barricade from Flair. She heads into the ring and taunts. Becky heads back in and there’s history here. They fight back and forth until Flair takes out the knee. Flair tries the Dis-Arm-Her, but Becky rolls her up. Flair kicks out, further brawling, and Becky attempts the Figure-4, but Flair kicks her away. Ronda comes in with a step-up knee strike to Becky and throws Lynch around. As Ronda targets Becky’s arm, Flair comes in with big boots and with Becky, attempts to powerbomb Ronda out the ring. As they reach the ropes, Ronda pulls them both over with a rope-assisted armbar! Becky gets out and hits a baseball slide on the hanging Rond who falls to the outside! Amazing! Becky goes for Flair in the corner, but she’s ready and takes her down. Flair exposes her knee and drops it on Becky. Flair heads up and goes for a moonsault, but Becky catches her with the Dis-Arm-Her! Ronda comes in though and rolls Becky through with an armbar, though Becky’s struggling means they are rolling as Ronda tries to properly cinch it in! She has the arm but Flair hits a big knee strike! She hits a weak Natural Selection on both of them but they both kick out. Flair throws Becky to the outside but Ronda throws strikes at Flair. Flair retaliates with some chops. Ronda is resilient, so Flair chops her in the face, so Ronda returns with a big elbow strike! Ronda goes for an armbar but Flair powers out of the attempt to lock in a Liontamer. Becky runs in and hits a bulldog and then hits a reverse DDT on Ronda and a regular DDT on Flair at the same time! She lays in some nice strikes to Flair but Charlotte fights back. She cartwheels over the rope when sent into the corner and hits a big boot from the apron to Becky. She goes up top but Becky stops her and hits a Bexploder from there!
Ronda goes up top, and resists Becky’s attack, then hits a double crossbody! Arm drags to both and she locks in a double armbar! But Flair and Lynch lift her up and powerbomb her thrice to break the hold! Flair throws Becky out and covers Ronda but she kicks out. She goes for a spear on Lynch on the apron, but she dodges and gains control, hitting the Lass Ride for a 2-count. Becky sends her outside and faces off with Ronda. Becky rolls through with a suplex to lock in the Dis-Arm-Her but Ronda gets the rope! She pulls Becky up and plants her in the corner but Becky dodges and locks in the Dis-Arm-Her with the ropes! Flair hits a big boot on Becky and then a Spanish fly on Becky for a 2-count! Flair suplexes Ronda but Lynch tries a Dis-Arm-Her on Flair. She counters by sending her into a turnbuckle pad and boots her to the floor. She targets Ronda and locks in the Figure-4 around the ring post until Becky breaks it up. Flair launches her into the barricade, attempts the Figure-4 in the ring but Ronda rolls her up! She kicks out and locks it in this time, then bridging for the Figure-8, but then Becky comes in with a leg drop to break it up! Becky brings out a table and sets it up in the ring but Flair attacks. She puts her on it and goes up for the moonsault, but Becky stops her. Ronda comes in and attacks Becky, sending Charlotte to the floor, and tips the table to the fans’ chagrin. She gets Becky up for Piper’s Pit but she slides out and attempts to lock in the Dis-Arm-Her, but Charlotte comes in with a double spear, though both kick out! She sets up the table in the corner and is able to hit a spear on Becky for a 2-count. She lines up for a double spear through the table but they hip toss her into it and it only just breaks! Ronda and Becky square off, throwing wild strikes until Ronda lands a step-up knee! She gets her up for Piper’s Pit but Becky reverses into a pin for 3! Ronda had her shoulders up for half of the pin which sucks but Becky wins! The crowd loves it!
Pros: Great action, cool spots, right winner, exciting Cons: A bit messy, botched finish
This match was a lot better than I remembered! I felt a little underwhelmed at the time and the finish was a big dampener, but rewatching it I enjoyed it a lot more! Great stuff with some super cool triple threat spots, but a few messy or awkward moments. This is probably down to Rousey’s inexperience but she also brings a lot to the table. The finish was also upsetting but these things happen I guess. Ronda just needed to keep the shoulder down. Other than that though, a very fun match with the result we all wanted!

alright the miz lost and i'm bummed but here is my Fucking Vision:
we don't see mikey on monday. or the monday after that, or the one after that. he completely disappears from television for the rest of the year.
it's rumble season. we get through most of the match. number thirty arrives and lo and behold: "i came to play". mike comes RIPPING down to the ring and he starts fucking bitches up. dudes are flying over the top rope like crazy, the numbers dwindle, and to the shock and awe of everybody in the arena, the fucking miz wins. the main event of wrestlemania is his next stop, for the first time since 2011. he could go after roman. he could go after seth.
he chooses neither. he opts for gunther.
for the first time in wwe history, the royal rumble winner uses their main event opportunity to challenge for the intercontinental championship. and then the miz wins, cinches the record for most intercontinental championship reigns in history, and he gets to hold his belt one more time. and i die happy

Bryan Danielson vs Tom Lawlor- MPW Stardust Title Eliminator
Tom Lawlor has been around the block, here in MPW and the professional wrestling world- but to this point, he has never ever gotten a chance to wrestle Bryan Danielson. Tonight, he doesn’t just get that opportunity, but he gets to earn himself a greater opportunity as well. Tonight, if Tom Lawlor can defeat Bryan Danielson in this title eliminator match, Tom Lawlor can earn himself a shot at the MPW Stardust Championship, and get himself MPW gold for the first time since Darkness Falls 2, over a year ago at this point. All Lawlor has to do tonight is defeat Danielson to earn a chance to get back to the top of the mountain.
The bell rang, and the two men, after circling one another, locked up in the middle. which Lawlor got the better of, quickly picking Bryan’s arm and twisting it into a wrist lock, before using that to transition into a rear waist lock. Bryan twisted himself around, though, and trapped Lawlor in a headlock, which Lawlor managed to break free of and take Bryan down, planting him into the mat and quickly rolling from the waist lock to a front headlock, which Bryan quickly countered by reaching his legs up and wrapping them around Lawlor’s head, pulling him into a headscissor before Lawlor managed to pull himself up into a headstand, and then use that to flip over onto Bryan, breaking the headscissor and lock the headlock back in. Lawlor wrenched down on Bryan’s head, but he managed to twist himself around and start to find a way back to his feet, lifting Lawlor up and spinning him around, looking for a big roundhouse kick, but Lawlor drops down underneath, dodging it, before slipping behind Bryan, and blasting him with a clubbing blow to the back!
Bryan flinched from the impact as Lawlor separated himself, a smirk on his face, knowing he got the better of that exchange. Bryan huffed, not a fan of being made a fool of, and glared at Lawlor as he came face to face with him, before putting his hand under his chin to give himself more clear access to Tom’s chest, before rearing back and blasting Lawlor with a chop to the chest, which made him recoil for just a second, before Lawlor rears back and blasts Bryan with a chop of his own, and now two of the hardest hitters in MPW were going back and forth, trading chops to the chest, which quickly escalated to full on, stiff as hell forearms to the face. These two were beating the shit out of each other! Two of the most talented strikers in MPW, giving it everything they got, trying to get the better of one another.
Back and forth the two went, before Bryan seized control of Tom Lawlor’s arm, trapping it in a modified wristlock. Tom tries to counter with a legsweep takedown, but Bryan rolls through and maintains control of Tom’s arm, transitioning it more into a bicep slicer, trying to soften Lawlor up with the early submission attempt! Bryan transitions into a standing armbar as Tom starts to get back up, and then transitions that to a wrist lock just to keep some semblance of control as Tom gets back to his feet. Tom manages to twist out of it though, and gain control of Bryan’s wrist, before turning Bryan around and trapping him in a reverse hammerlock, with Lawlor controlling Bryan’s front while still having the arm trapped. Bryan manages to step through, though, and trap Lawlor into a hammerlock of his own, before spinning around and instead taking control of Lawlor’s head and neck with a cravate. Tom catches Bryan with a strike to the ribs, though, breaking Bryan’s grasp. Tom then grabs Bryan and pulls him down with a headlock takeover, taking down Bryan and trapping his shoulders to the mat!
1… Kickout!
Bryan quick to lift his shoulders up there, but it allows Tom to cinch the hold in even tighter, squeezing down on Bryan’s jaw and skull with as much pressure as he could muster. Bryan managed to shit his weight though to get the pressure off his skull, and managed to escape and wrap his legs around Tom’s waist, using that to roll Tom over into a pin.
1….2… Kickout!
Tom manages to escape this time, escaping the hold as well and getting back to his feet, before trying to catch Bryan Danielson with an exploder suplex, which Bryan manages to block, sending a forearm right into Tom’s head, before turning around and hitting the ropes, charging back at Tom and leveling him with a massive roundhouse, almost knocking Lawlor’s head clean off, and sending Lawlor down to the mat! Bryan Danielson dropped into the cover!
1… 2… Kickout!
Tom once again kicks out, and Bryan locks the cravate right back in, though, before Tom once again catches him with a shot to the ribs. Once again, Bryan falters, but then tightens the hold once again, putting as much pressure on the neck of Lawlor as he possibly can. Eventually, Tom just decides to lift Bryan up and tries to plant Bryan with a scoop slam, but Bryan rolls through and takes Tom down instead, keeping the cravate locked in tight! Now Tom has his back on the mat, and no longer has the leverage he once did, as Bryan continues to crank down on the neck. Tom is able to wrap his feet up in the ropes, though. Referee Jake Clemons forces Bryan to break the hold, and separates the two, allowing Lawlor the chance to get back to his feet. Tom looked a little frustrated with how that last exchange went, but the two approach each other once again, and engage in a collar and elbow tie up, jockeying for position.
Bryan is the one to gain control this time, and tries to lock in a Dragon Sleeper on Lawlor, but he transitions it up and tries to lift Bryan up for an Over the Shoulder Tombstone, which Bryan manages to wiggle his way out of, before slipping out behind Lawlor, charging the ropes, and springboarding off the ropes, crashing down on Lawlor with a huge moonsault! Bryan Danielson hooks the leg!
1….2… Kickout!
Lawlor escapes again! Bryan lifts Tom up again, before hitting the ropes, going for a big boot, but Tom Lawlor ducks it and catches him, sending Bryan overhead with a T-Bone suplex!
Tom traps Bryan in the corner, using the ropes to hold his arms, before rearing back and laying into Bryan with a brutal chop to the chest. Bryan stumbles out of the corner, and into another one, where Tom once again traps her, wraps his arms up in the ropes, and, telling the crowd to quiet down so they could hear it, once again, Tom blasts Bryan with a chop to the chest. Tom then stands Bryan up, and begins blasting him with a series of corner clotheslines, all designed to wear down Bryan, and beat him into submission, Referee Clemons begins to count, and by four forces Tom to back up and let Bryan out of the corner. Tom then walks across the ring, trying to get the crowd clapping, before he charges in on Bryan, crashing into him with a huge leaping back elbow, before pulling Bryan out of the corner, faking out whipping her across the ring, and then throwing Bryan overhead, sending Bryan crashing right back into the turnbuckles!
Tom Lawlor was now in firm control of this one, going back over to Bryan and lifting him up by the waist, before lifting Bryan up, and driving Bryan’s head and neck into the mat with a german suplex, bridging over for the cover!
1….2… Kickout!
Bryan kicks out at two. Tom gets back to his feet and once again wraps his arms around Bryan’s waist, but a stomp to Tom’s foot, followed by Bryan clipping Tom’s elbows, allows Bryan enough room to drop down, use his legs to hook Tom’s arms, and roll Tom forward into a cover!
1…2…. Kickout!
Tom kicks out, but Bryan rolled backwards and waited for Tom to get back up, before using his disorientation against him, lifting Lawlor up, and planting him with a Michunoku Driver! Tom is dropped straight on his head! Bryan covers!
1….2… Kickout!
Lawlor manages to kick out at two, and Danielson is quick to lock Lawlor back into a cravate.
Lawlor dropped down, forcing Danielson to transition the cravate into a front facelock, which allowed Lawlor to then pick Danielson’s arm and trap him in a fujiwara armbar for a second, before Danielson managed to roll through and trap Lawlor with a heel hold! Danielson twisted Lawlor’s ankle, before flipping him over and tying up his legs. Danielson tried to lock in some sort of modified STF, but Lawlor wasn’t having any of it, so instead Danielson released his legs and picked an arm, trying to lock in some sort of armbar, or maybe somehow slip into the Lebell Lock, but Lawlor escaped that too, catching Danielson with a boot before getting back to his feet. Danielson shook the kick off and got back to his feet as well, charging Lawlor and taking him down with a shoulder tackle, but Lawlor used the momentum and rolled backwards and up to his feet, before picking Danielson’s legs and taking him down! Lawlor tried to lock in a knee bar, but Danielson kicked him off and slid into a drop down position as Lawlor hit the ropes, Lawlor leaping over Danielson as he came back, and as Bryan Danielson got up, rolled over his back and landed on his feet. Lawlor shoved Danielson into the ropes, and on the rebound caught Danielson with a dropkick right to the face, taking him down!
Danielson crawled to the corner, and Lawlor measured him before charging Danielson, but Danielson managed to dodge, slipping behind Lawlor before catching him with an enziguri to the back of the head! Lawlor was stunned, and Danielson grabbed his head, before using the ropes to plant Lawlor with a Tornado DDT! Lawlor was spiked on the top of his head, before rolling out onto the apron to recover. Danielson followed him out there, and tried to lift Lawlor back up to his feet, but Lawlor caught Danielson with a shot to the gut, before standing up and nailing Danielson with a stiff looking forearm. The shots from Lawlor kept coming, before Lawlor took a few steps back and attempted a rolling elbow on Danielson, but Danielson ducked it, and wrapped his arms around Lawlor’s waist, before charging forward and driving Lawlor into the ring post! Lawlor was stunned, and Danielson used the opportunity to turn Lawlor back around, and drop him with a DDT on the apron! Tom Lawlor crashed head first down onto the hardest part of the ring, and then down to the floor on the outside!
Danielson went for a walk around the ring to compose himself and catch his breath for a second, as Lawlor was still laid out on the outside. Jake Clemons told Danielson to bring it back into the ring, and Danielson obliged, tossing Tom Lawlor back into the ring before sliding back in himself. Danielson watched and measured Lawlor as he used the corner to pull himself back up, before charging at Lawlor. Lawlor got out of the way, and tried to nail Danielson with a big forearm, but Danielson caught Lawlor, trying to drive him into the turnbuckles with a flatliner, but Lawlor caught Danielson with several hard elbows, breaking Danielson’s grip on him. Danielson stumbled back, holding his head, perhaps his equilibrium a little thrown off by those shots to the ear. Lawlor charged Danielson, before going for a wheelbarrow, which he rolled through into a victory roll, but rather than pin Danielson, he got up and twisted Danielson’s legs around his own, locking in a knee bar! Lawlor had Danielson trapped in the knee bar in the middle of the ring! Lawlor wrenched back on the hold, as Jake asked Danielson if he wanted to give up. Danielson insisted he didn’t, but the pain on his face as Lawlor continued to wrench back with the hold told a different story! Danielson may be just seconds away from tapping out to Tom Lawlor!
Danielson was pulling on his own hair, trying to fight through the pain, trying not to submit while simultaneously trying to figure a way out of this hold! Lawlor continued to wrench back on the knee bar, practically trying to tear Danielson’s ACL! A hold like this can leave a competitor on the shelf for months, if not permanently crippled! Danielson began to rock himself, trying to turn Lawlor over, which would reverse the pressure on the hold to Lawlor, but as Danielson rolled, managing to turn Lawlor over for a second, Lawlor knew to roll with Danielson, and managed to roll through and keep the hold locked in and the pressure on Danielson’s knees! Danielson once again told Jake that he was fine and didn’t want to submit, but the pain on Danielson’s face told a much different story. Danielson began to reach out and try to drag both himself and Tom Lawlor to the ropes, and when that didn’t quite seem to work, Danielson began to try and pry at the legs of Lawlor, managing to start to pick away at one of Lawlor’s ankles, but Lawlor shut that down quickly, and kept the hold locked in! Danielson let out another cry of agony, but with one final last gasp of effort, managed to pull himself to the ropes and force a break!
Lawlor kept the hold on until the referee’s count of four, making sure to milk every last ounce of punishment he could out of the hold, until he had to let it go or face disqualification. While many matches in MPW had more relaxed rules, referees would tailor the match to those in it. Both Tom Lawlor and Bryan Danielson being traditional grapplers, the full rulebook would be in play tonight, disqualifications included. Lawlor got back to his feet and grabbed Danielson’s leg, catching it with a kick that caused Danielson to let out another cry of agony. Lawlor caught Danielson with another kick, right to the soft of the knee, which caused Danielson more excruciating pain. Danielson dragged himself to the corner and did his best to stand back up, but all it earned him was a brutal shot with the forearm from Tom Lawlor. Lawlor then tried to once again go for Danielson’s legs, but a knee to the head from Danielson backed him off! Lawlor stumbled out of the corner, and Danielson hobbled over, catching Lawlor with a few choice knees to the ribcage. Lawlor caught one of Danielson’s legs though, and attempted a dragon screw, but Danielson stepped through and blocked it, leaving Lawlor sitting on his ass, in prime position to get blasted with a rolling elbow from Bryan Danielson right to the side of the head! That kick ROCKED Lawlor, and he looked like he may not know where he even is!
Lawlor rolled to the outside apron again, and Danielson tried to pull him back into the ring, but Lawlor caught him with a forearm. Danielson stumbled, before Lawlor sweeped the legs out from under Danielson, and tried to vault over the ropes into a modified rear naked choke, but Danielson didn’t even let him get it in before rolling through, into a quick pin attempt!
1… Kickout!
Lawlor manages to escape, and get back to his feet, grabbing Danielson and driving his bad leg down into Lawlor’s knee with a shinbreaker, but Danielson fires back with a knee to the face, sending Lawlor stumbling back! However, Lawlor is quick to recover, and launches himself forward, nailing Danielson right in the bad knee with a low dropkick! Bryan Danielson is taken down once again, and once again finds himself clutching his own knee! Tom Lawlor’s gameplan here has worked to perfection! Lawlor dropped into the cover on Danielson!
1… Kickout!
A quick kickout there from Danielson, but as he kicks out, he goes right back to grabbing at the leg. Lawlor grabs Danielson’s leg away from him and catches him with another kick to the soft part of the knee, before then trapping the leg in a leg bar, wrenching back on the hold! Once again, Danielson is left riving in agony in the leg lock, as Lawlor continued to torque back on the hold! Lawlor stands up with the leg, before snapping down with it, once again causing Bryan Danielson a great deal of pain! Lawlor stalked Danielson as Danielson tried to drag himself up to his feet, eventually being able to stand but not for long as he fell as soon as he tried to put weight on the leg. Lawlor grabbed at Danielson again, trying to pick the leg again, but a few clubbing shots from Danielson prevented that from happening. Danielson tried to turn it around and go for Sliced Bread, but Lawlor easily shoved Danielson off into the corner. Lawlor charged Danielson, but he was caught, before being driven face first into the turnbuckles with a flatliner from Bryan Danielson! Lawlor’s head snapped back on impact, and once again Lawlor found himself in a daze. Danielson took a few moments to try and stretch out his leg, just trying to get some feeling back in it, before attempting to stand. He was on shaky legs but Danielson was up, and dragging Lawlor back up with him, before Danielson caught Lawlor with a stiff forearm shot to the face. Lawlor looked to be out on his feet for a moment, before Lawlor fired back with an equally brutal looking and brutal sounding forearm. Lawlor fired back with multiple forearm strikes to Danielson, before charging up and going for a clothesline, but Danielson ducked it, before lifting Lawlor up onto the ropes, and driving him to the mat with a Dragon Screw Neck Whip! Lawlor held his neck, as Danielson lifted him back up to his feet, and drove him into the mat with a back suplex!
Danielson dragged Lawlor back up again, and once again went for Sliced Bread, but Lawlor kicked Danielson’s bad leg again, before whipping Danielson into the corner, and charging in behind him, catching Danielson with a chop block, dropping Danielson to his knees and causing Danielson to land with his face on the second turnbuckle. Lawlor kicked the buckle up into Danielson’s face, causing Danielson to be sent staggering backwards, stunned. Lawlor then picked one of Danielson’s legs again, trapping it and grapevining it as he took Danielson down, locking in an STF!
Danielson struggles, and fights, but he’s fading quick! Tom wrenches back on the hold…
And the bell rings?!
Tom looks around, looking for some sort of explanation.. Did Danielson tap?!
Steve Guy comes over the microphone…
“Folks, this MPW Stardust title eliminator… has ended in a time limit draw!”
Wow! Danielson & Tom goes the full 20! What’s this mean for the MPW Stardust title?! Is Tom Lawlor going to get his shot?!
