Prompt: Puddles

Roger’s foot goes right into the middle of a puddle. With a curse, Roger laments his wet shoe and soaked sock. Next to him, Chuck laughs.

“Yeah, yeah,” Roger pushes him. “You’d be putting up even more of a fuss.”

“Really?”

Before Roger can retort, Chuck picks him up. One arm is wrapped around Roger’s shoulders, the other tucked under his knees.

Roger protests, tries to get out of Chuck’s hold but Chuck remains firm. He carries Roger all the way back to the dorms and when he’s set down, Roger isn’t ready to admit how much he enjoyed that.

Day light Chuck knows his is the silly kid brother role - always there to provoke a laugh, willing to put a temporary crease in his dignity in exchange for lifting his crew mates' spirits or dissolving a knot of tension. Alongside his unflinching persistence and smooth oar pulling, optimism and warmth are his contributions to the team. But it's different when his jokes land in one particular way, coaxing a smile from a glum, contained Roger. Then it is his turn to bask in the sun, soft beams warming his skin. Roger's slow grin ignites his chest, kindling something compelling and unknown.

Deep End Bobby's pushed him up against a wall for kissing before. This time though, his tongue reaches deeper, thumbs rubbing under his waistband. It empties Don's head. Don lets his hands explore their furthest yet - tentative, then gripping for the curve of Bobby's ass, drawing a firm stomach against his clothed cock. Trembling, slow grinding brings a sensation he's only found in isolation. Sharing that intensity is like wildfire through his insides. Bobby moves to his collarbone, his scraping teeth wringing a moan from Don's unguarded mouth. Every nerve rockets, the sensations converging; he comes, clutching the coxswain like a buoy.

100 days of productivity 56/100

So far I've gotten an A in Physics and Chemistry but we all know that the class pretty much failed our Maths mock. Gonna have math tomorrow and get at least half the paper back (I've got 2 teachers so had 2 papers to sit). I'm so so proud of my Physics score tho!! The time I revised really payed off and I ended up getting a much higher score than I expected!!! (again, tysm everyone who wished me luck on these 💕)

Finished getting over the corrections in Chem and my percentage was low but I know that I didn't try doing any questions in preparation and could've done more. Most of my mistakes were mostly stuff I just couldn't remember and I got most of the harder things right anyway. I know what areas to work on now too!

Didn't get writing any more notes today. I'm finding that I don't really k ow what to do with myself in the evenings and even sometimes afternoons, meaning I end up doomscrolling for hours. I'm thinking of journalling a bit about that and seeing what helps me be better with my time :) Oh and I've got exams in 2 months now so I've got to start pushing myself again! I'm definitely going to take more breaks and since I've got the time, take it slower so I don't go mad like this mock revision made me

Even though the main storytelling of The High Republic era is found in the adult and young adult novels, the middle grade novels are usually worth reading, too. Even if there's not a lot essential to the plot or worldbuilding, there's usually something special to be found. Case in point: the next one to be released, Beware the Nameless, contains probably the first ever Hutt protagonist character. And his name... I can't tell you how much I love this... his name is Churro the Hutt.

okay so we all know how the names sada and turo are derived from pasada and futuro right? So they don't really resemble actual Spanish names. Then i remembered my relative whose name is Arturo, and Turo is sometimes a nickname. Although his sisters have taken it even further and just call him churo, like churro but without the rolled r. Although the way phonetics work maybe they really are saying Turo but the t is coming out /ch/??? They also use the American r when they say churo. So it's like multiple levels of phonemes??? To get from Mexican Spanish pronunciation of Arturo to the way the average American says churro

Preparing to bring back order among the streets within the island the ryuketsu police department sending their best of the best to deal with both widespread threats being darkstalkers and then the rumored G-virus outbreak going around within the island as the G-virus was forbidden to used during their failed genocidal plot to eradicate and wipe out darkstalkers clean from the earth. These police officers aren't ordinary humans as these people are the instance of infected who possessed las plaga parasites within their bodies. These creatures are given the name from both the BSAA and the militery up in the Atlantic coast the vassals or they're most commonly known as drudges.

These couple of officers stand outside of their vehicle loading in their weapons in the back seat of the vehicle as one of them by the name of Segawa Hagashi commented on the outbreak of darkstalkers and now the rumored G-virus outbreak going around.

" Fuck me sideways tuesday hasn't been kind to us in these troubling times. Y'know? This whole Erebus cult shit is a bust.. "

Ken Miyazaki, the big guy within the police force chuckled at Segawas remarks of the cult and their goal are a miserable failure and he starts to joke.

" Bern told numerous times by that wacko scientist over on speed dial rather deal with Susie than his doctor insano ass. "

Jumped from the hood of the car Churo the mechanic and scavenger of all things junk jumped onto the hood of the vehicle after he heard a bit about the scientists.

" Hey! Only I get be the insano around these parts! "

" GET THE HELL OFF MY CAR YOU LITTLE GOBLIN ! "

Jumped off from the hood of the vehicle Churo chuckled taking a bite out of a large cockroach out of his pocket.

' Chhk! '

" So you heard about the outbreak of G-virus going around? "

" Yeah just a rumor but the rumors sound serious, chief told us to check it out after reports of blob flesh beef turkey monsters with big bulgy eyes running around. "

" Man all this talk about beef jerky is making me hungry kid. Let's get this work finish for some grub my treat! "

Segawa sighed and got into the vehicle and pulling out her keys, starting the ignition as she rolls her eyes.

" Can go for some food too... "

Huff.

" ... I too want a fine meal, fresh baked crickets and roaches too. "

Back home with my takeaway! I'm happy to report that the paldea paella is indeed as good as the original. The owners of the new place just moved from there which is neat. They have skwawkabilly to do their deliveries.

Anyway! I have some more thoughts on shiny Pokémon, this time on why they happen. Some folks think it's a genetic defect, others think it was less rare in the distant past, some think it's just Arceus and/or Mew fucking with us.

My current theory is that being shiny is like a built-in trait that comes from the first ever Pokémon ancestor. Not the two listed above, like the first non-legendary Pokémon, the first Pokémon that reproduced sexually, as in they needed a cell each from two different Pokémon to reproduce.

I was talking about it with a buddy of mine earlier while we were on shift at that Combee cafe and she likened it to being ginger, since it's got a similarly tiny chance of happening. She told me that being ginger was a trait shared by only 2% of the world. I didn't believe her until I looked it up, since I could think of about 10 people off of the top of my head that I knew well that were ginger. She reminded me that I'm Galar it's more likely to happen. But that it was kind of like being a shiny human.

Which at first I was like yeah kind of!

But then I thought about it more and actually no not at all

Being ginger is more common in white people of north and northwestern European descent, meaning it's more common in Galar, Kalos, Paldea, and a few other regions around there. it comes from a certain area and is very very rare in other races unless it's caused by some kind of random genetic mutation, such as albinism. The chances of ginger hair occurring in any person more than doubles from the global average in Galar alone, which is why there's so bloody many of them here. Being ginger is linked to your species (human), your skin colour, and where you're from.

But Pokémon all have exactly the same chance of being shiny. 1 in 4096.

You could also assume that Pokémon being shiny is another genetic defect caused by a mutation in DNA like chromosomal conditions or strange mutations in humans (e.g. humans born with tails or webbed feet even though our genes code to not have them)

But!!! Shiny colours are consistent within species! Every shiny umbreon has blue hoops, every shiny Abra is pale, every shiny Combee is the same dark acacia colour, every shiny dedenee is brown instead of orange! It's consistent within species.

So, since being shiny has the same chances throughout all Pokémon, and the colourings are consistent, it can't be genetic. Not in a way that's random, in any case. It's just weird to me that it's consistent in rarity. Surely the species that actively get rid of Pokémon who are shiny will have less shiny Pokémon since they reproduce less? But nope it's consistent with every single species without fail, and has been for several centuries. Heck, even the first ecological studies of shiny Pokémon back in the ancient times of hisui gives us similar numbers, around 1 in 4000 for each species observed, mostly bug types, they reproduce quick. The only Pokémon that can't really be shiny is legendaries since there's only one of each of them.

So, wild, crazy, out of control theory time.

I think that being shiny is a trait inherited from the first species of regular Pokémon for a specific purpose. I've got no fucking clue what that purpose is but that's my theory. Being shiny had an advantage way back when. Something deep in the DNA of Pokémon keeps the same exact chance if being shiny. There has to be a reason, something that gives shiny Pokémon an advantage, some kind of fail-save, too embedded in the very being of every Pokémon that it can't be bred out by slow-evolution.

It has to mean something.

That or it really is Mew just fucking with us.

TBITB Drabbles 13/30

Prompt: Cuddling

Roger wakes up to a heavy weight wrapped around his waist. The sun is just beginning to rise, slits of light sneaking into the room.

“Chuck, get off, it’s time for practice.” He nudges the other man.

Chuck grunts in return, squeezes Roger tighter while burying his face into his shoulder. It’s nice, really it is, but Roger doesn’t need Ulbrickson’s, or rather Bobby’s, ire today.

Wiggling free, Roger shoots off the bed and tears the blanket off of Chuck. He winces at the sharp complaint but thankfully a kiss is all it takes to make Chuck to forgive him.

Chuck wouldn't have recognized the bundled form entering as Roger if it wasn't for the familiar red scarf surrounding his head and neck. Smiling, Chuck greets him, faintly guilty of how he overslept, missing their first class.

"Brought this back for you." Roger waves some papers at him. "Not a bad grade, Day."

Chuck reaches, his fingers grazing Roger's own, cold as icicles. "Damn, you're freezing!"

Roger's expression is dismissive but not unkind as he waves and heads from the room.

Chuck finds him soon after, somewhat bashful, a hot mug of cider in his hands. "Made this for you."

    This hairstyle is a type of kougai-mage and often features a shiitake (or mushroom) shaped tabo. The gang at Disney headcanons?

Ren He'd secretly want to go on all of the fast paced, thrill-seeking rides and haunted attractions; but he'll stay by your side and go on all the rides you want to instead. Ren will pay for you, and you only — everyone else has to supply their own ticket and money to buy food, drinks, and souvenirs. He also won't let anyone else sit next to you and will 100% take up the entire seat if necessary jdhgjhds

Moth They're with you in spirit! Right now, Moth can't afford to travel abroad just to go to Disneyland T_T But if they could, they would prefer meeting the Disney cast and taking pictures with them! It might even give Moth ideas on who to cosplay next.

Violet She'd want to check out all of the attractions and landmarks! Lots and lots of photos are taken that day, and she'll happily go dressed (vaguely) as Kida Nedakh if you wanted to dress up as well ^^ She also somehow keeps getting seated next to Teo on all of the rides, and it takes everything in herself not to unscrew his safety harness every time.

Elanor One of the only two who actually has a plan for the day ^^; She has the entire map memorised and the most optional route from A to B fully panned out. El is usually the type to bring her own snacks, sunscreen, and spare hats for everyone; and greatly prefers to stand to the side and wave at the gang while they zip past on all of the rides.

Conan Designated Dad™️ of the group and the other one with a plan. Conan is probably the one who carpooled everyone to and from the airport/hotel, and will most likely be the one who drives everyone back to Corland Bay. Like Elanor, he's more than happy to sit on a bench while everyone else has fun. He'll wear the Mickey ears if you put them on him — but only if you share your photos of the characters to his phone later (so he can show them to his daughter!)

Jae Bee lines straight to the bumper cars and the closest water park with you (and by extension - Ren), Leon, and Teo in tow. He's the one that gets chewed out by Elanor for not waiting half an hour to finish his churo before swimming, and also the one to buy cute little Disney accessories for Maple. Jae probably won't go on any of the rollercoasters, but he'll happily go on all of the teacup rides!

Leon Happily goes along with whatever you have planned! He doesn't really have any expectations or desires, though he does find the thrill rides/rollercoasters especially interesting. Would probably be the one going on the drop towers and laughing his head off while Jae is screaming for dear life and Ren is stone-faced next to him.

Teo All of the little kids will 100% mistaken him for Gaston, so you have to be the one to pull him away before he starts swearing and saying vulgar phrases. Teo probably prefers going on the scary rides just to watch your mortified expression and have someone cling to his biceps. He'll also sneak off into the restricted zones for fun, so make sure to keep an eye on him (or ask Elanor to).

Olivia Only came along because she won free tickets from a raffle. She situates herself next to Ren and Teo always, and gets a bit irked whenever Ren follows after you like a lost puppy instead of her. Olivia would want to try all of the different foods and get a souvenir to remember the day by! She might also ask you to burn any embarrassing pictures of her from all of the fast-paced rides.

Kiara Doesn't mind paying for everyone, and is most likely good friends with the hotel manager at the place you're staying at (so you knoooow you're getting good rooms!!). Would likely be trying all of the foods with Olivia or taking photos of flowers for her mood-board/fashion inspiration folder back in London. Secretly buys matching cellphone charms for herself and Elanor. If you catch her, she'll most likely buy one for you too.
