Part of a satanic church and used to be part of its band

Basically cheated on Sister Imperator by kissing girls in the crowd of a show back in the 60s

Oh I might as well do this since I have some thoughts… rambling about “What We Found” under the cut

First of all, I will be discussing spoilers for the new fnaf novella!! Also tw for mentions of abuse and violence as the novella mentions these topics as well. Anyway here we go

I didn’t really care that much for What We Found (from here on out, abbreviated as wwf) until I considered how the way springtrap manifested for Hudson connects to the rest of the series. In the novellas, springtrap exists both as a character for fazbear entertainment and as a real corpse-occupied animatronic. We know (or think we know) that William is physically at that church hospital, and not inside springtrap. The novellas have their own timeline, so this discrepancy is fine.

Hudson is a character that has experienced violent abuse and trauma at the hands of his stepfather, who died in a fire prior to the beginning of the story. It’s implied that Hudson’s trauma led him to start the fire, then forget he did so. Once Hudson is alone with springtrap, he notices that there is a corpse inside the animatronic, and it seems to speak with the voices of those who traumatized Hudson in the first place.

Springtrap acts as a manifestation of Hudson’s trauma.

As springtrap becomes more active, it seems more and more likely that although there are paranormal events occurring, some of the things that happen to Hudson may be the result of his own unconscious actions, such as the gash on his arm that mirrors the one he got before the fire that killed his family. Springtrap is causing Hudson to undergo the same kind of abuse that he received from his stepfather.

What made me appreciate wwf is that it’s springtrap that is doing all of this. Most readers who are familiar with fnaf will associate springtrap with William, who has also been shown as a negligent father at best. In a sense, springtrap is being used as a symbol of poor fatherhood. Although wwf uses fazbear’s fright and springtrap as recognizable symbols, it’s this more nuanced connection that I enjoy the most.

Okie sorry for writing a whole ass essay. This is not an invitation to debate this story btw if you disagree please don’t be rude about it. I just like literary analysis and these YA books don’t often give me the chance to do it
