God just. Emduo’s doomsday is full of so much grief and sorrow, it’s the hot anger of betrayal and poison that writhes in your stomach and twists your heart into something ugly, something you never thought you’d be. It’s the head rush of destruction, the sick joy that comes from tearing something soft apart with your fingernails, it’s the Stygian-dark humor that hides hurt and fear, it’s blaming something because if you don’t there’s nobody there to blame.

It’s both of them never really planning this level of destruction. It’s grabbing hold of an opportunity, even if all Techno really had planned was withers, not a chunkerror. It’s knowing they’re being used AGAIN, but at least this time the fucker had the decency to say it outright.

It’s Phil finely sharpening his anger and grief into a weapon for a month, because from the moment his own son begs him to kill him, Phil blames L’Manberg. It’s Phil’s core-deep rage finally bubbling over, it’s him reminding us why Techno named him The Angel of Death in SMP Earth. It doesn’t make sense because Phil’s been fucked for hundreds of years, because Phil’s been alive for so long, because Wilbur was Phil’s only son, because Phil’s not quite right in the head anymore and who would be after this long.

It’s Techno’s fear of death. It’s his absolute bone-deep terror of the idea of dying at all. It’s his hurt at Tommy not just leaving him, but leaving him entirely alone with the rest of the server turned on him, people he’s always been skittish around, people he has always seen as very real threats to his life. It’s Techno assuming this whole thing was done, but if Tubbo wants a fight, Techno’s ready to deliver one. It’s grief for friends lost, for the people he wanted to help. It’s shoving aside those feelings to make this as painless as possible, hoping SOMEONE would ever take him up on his offer to just walk away, to just stop making him hurt them.

Like I’m not as insane about other parts of dsmp but doomsday is the one event where I wish I could autism beam the way I understand c!phil and c!techno in this specific instance directly into peoples brains and until I can do that, I will have to sit here like a stupid adult and remind myself that other people are allowed to be wrong have other interpretations about my blorbos

All I’m saying is: If the primary source for Mizu’s history books was our angsty half-enderboy with the worst memory ever, who is known for being an extremely unreliable narrator due to his habit of going to dissociative states and doing bad things, usually in the name of the #1 villain of the server, which he later finds out about and regrets and has a breakdown over and who’s coping mechanism of choice is denial?? It suddenly starts making sense why the information in those books were so damn scuffed...
