Ive been thinking, why on earth would Paul attend the Honey Queen Pageant?
I'm not saying he couldn't enjoy it. It's obviously a big deal for Hatchetfield's citizens. It just seems like a pageant where there's bound to be singing and performances and dancing wouldn't really be something he'd voluntarily attend; he'd be more likely to just hang around the festival and do the other events.
So, bear with me, here's my theory:
What if he went because Emma was participating as one of the contestants?
Now, sure, it really doesn't seem like something she'd do. But she works a coffee shop job she doesn't like much and that doesn't pay luxuriously, and the pageant had the allure of big winnings.
She might've just gone "oh, what the hell," and decided to participate, in the rare event she won the money. She'd be able to kickstart that pot farm!
Plus, who knows? Maybe she saw it as a chance to compete a bit with Zoey since we know they're not the chummiest when at work.
What if Paul and Emma met in that timeline, and he decided to attend just to support Emma and watch her performance?
Again, just an idea I've been mulling over for a bit.

Ok ok so I gotta know, what is Salice's dynamic with everyone in the party? Does she generally get along with them or would she feed them to the wolves if it wasn't for the brain worms?
A/n: This is long. im sorry. this goes under readmore. What playing the game for 2 week straight does to a mf
SO ITS FUNNY. Salice is generally a kind of dry, sarcastic bitch that generally doesn't particularly enjoy 'befriending' people. The only person she's ever been truly friends with is her is her best friend & (previously) colleague Allen Owen, a wizard of the school of conjuration, who she met when she was studying law way long ago, like 10 years or so prior to the start of the story.
At the start she's kind of neutral towards everyone due to the Circumstances. she is kind of a bitch, and rude, but due to the situation (that being, you know, the brainworms and possible transformation into an illithid) she tries to be less of an asshole simply because she does not want to risk being killed by the few people she's met that are sound of mind and not Absolute fanatics
This is also me generally throwing spice on the concept as a whole since the game isn't really full ofliberties in terms of shaping your tav's personality. In general, she tries to do the good thing, but can be a dick about it, and isn't against doing scummy stuff if it means getting to the bottom of things or resolving matters without necessarily risking certain death. This means she's generally more likely to get along with Shadowheart, Wyll, Gale, and even Karlach. I imagine with Lae'zel and Astarion the relationship is definitely on the neutral side. She doesn't really hate anyone but doesn't really like Astarion tbh lol
She has issues with being closed-off and has difficulty opening up to people. She has a full-on machismo complex caused by her father and tends to be very competitive when it comes to putting in show her skills especially when she meets masculine people like her (regardless if they're men or not), HOWEVER...Circumstances make this a little easier to break through.
TO PUT IT SHORT BECAUSE I'M ALREADY RAMBLING:
Wyll: They're pretty good friends by the time of Act 2 (where I've played until now), they bond over the fact that they are warlocks stuck in bad contracts with bitch devils. Unfortunately he's genuinely a fully good person which means she feels too bad to truly talk to him about Her Contract and who Her Patron is bc it's a weird, and not exactly "good-natured" story lol. I imagine he thinks of her as someone he can relate to due to their similar situations but I can't think he'd be exactly approving of the selfish reasons behind her pact.
Gale: I have to be frank she initially finds him weird and awkward but very very fast starts liking him - he's the one she's most likely to get feelings for, truth be told, because Salice has a weakness for nerds of that type. That and it seems fated (to her) that she ends up being chummiest with wizards, for one reason or another. She does not handle her own feelings well tho so if I had to write the whole thing instead of having to follow the way the game does it it'd be a liiiiiiiiiittle complicated.
Also consolidated because of this insane ass line
Tumblr media
Because she probably does in fact NOT bathe that much during adventuring. Anyways . I can't fully develop thoughts now. Tl;dr they get along well. Much to everyone's surprise
Astarion: boy she can't stand his ass....she feels sorry for him and everything like it sucks obviously. He had a shitty life. But she honestly sometimes is like "king just because you have been miserable you don't need to make everyone else miserable too. whats with you". The feeling is otherwise mutual I imagine because he also is like "this bitch has the audacity to tell me how to act after 200 years of Torture when she's in a contract with a fucking DEVIL.." which he is right for also. but they can be friendly sometimes. She lets him drink from her and such because she dgaf that much. frenemies. Would hit it if he acted straightforward for once though
Shadowheart: Salice would think she's okay and feels sorry for her that she's devoted to the point of mindlessly accepting her own suffering as part of her devotion. She doesnt care that shadowheart is a follower of Shar, she just thinks she needs to reevaluate at what point her religion should override her own comfort. Another case of damn that sucks on salice's part and Shadowheart also thinks Salice is fine herself, evenif she thinks it's weird that after opening up to her about her own struggle Salice has basically like. Said almost nothing about herself to her. Is considering holding her at knifepoint just to know ANYTHING (this is because salice is paranoid about sharing anything abt herself). But little does she know all she needs is a little alcohol and salice will be babbling in no time
Lae'zel: I think she and Lae'zel are on good terms because of a few things: Salice is cutthroat and can also fight well and LOVES to fight, honestly. they definitely banged once (and fought for dominance while doing it) but salice was like that was awesome but i think im good for a while (clueless about things to come) (Faerun's most sexually repressed woman [in the sense she likes showing off but can't take back what she dishes out]). Salice is just like, nice to Lae'zel because she's like what am i gonna do? Act like a bitch to her when she's helpful and surprisingly refreshing to be around ? Absolutely not. They're good friends who spar sometimes
Karlach: Salice likes Karlach because she thinks she's so Genuine and its so Rare to see . And as a result salice feels a little inadequate to being her friend but, considering everything and their shared passion for fighting, she does what she can to help her out. Even if it ain't the easiest task sometimes. I gotta think about this specific dynamic some more, but in general, they're on friendly terms. But Karlach wishes that salice was a little nicer and less of a cunt at times (not directly at her but at the others & people in general)
(smiles painfully) i think that's it. for now. Anyway. Thank oyu for the question i hope it helps

@galaxyarena asked: “‘Oh why didn’t you do this?’ Because I didn’t feel then the way I do now. Everyone thinks and feels differently as the years go by, don’t they?” from Eska to Asami
Tumblr media
The heiress had clear memories on how the twins acted last she met. And it was, in a word, chaotic. Bolin begged her not to come out here, lest it's a backdoor way back into his world, but Asami assured him she'd keep everything business-like and stick to matters of diplomacy and technology. Besides, sometimes Bolin's ego was ridiculous. Who's to say this woman is still hung up on him after all this time? Still, it was like stepping into a time-warp seeing Eska again. She wasn't sure if her words were a deadpan game, or if she meant it.
Asami didn't trust anyone so easily anymore. That blind-trusting girl was dead.
Tumblr media
"Fair enough. That's what progress is all about...both industrially and...uh, emotionally." She wasn't sure if that was overstepping with the one half of the Water Tribe's chieftains. She recalls Eska wasn't the warmest and chummiest of people out there. Cold one second, raging if crossed. She presses ahead, acting as if it's alright.

setting : day four after the arena breakout, xiomara's flat in the capitol. with : xiomara peña @cfchacs
usually, domitila feels her anger thin, and it dissipates quickly, as there is no point holding onto strong grudges when there are simply better things to do. but it's only been a few hours since she's been released from an interrogation that lasted hours long, and she's fuming. so much so she makes the reckless choice to go to the tribute center just after, only to find it sealed and highly guarded, with the peacekeepers that guard it informing her — after she shows her card, and tels the name of the person that has already interrogated her, as if she deserved another round of that — that there is no one in the premises. the hotel she knows some of her victors prefers is what follows, and, again, it's a dead end. no one knows of cadence, nor even of enobaria, and the knife twists deeper. she does find cato's sister, and the girl keeps her occupied, and away from searching for needless danger for a few days.
her curiosity is still prickling at her, days after that. she remembers the peña kid just because calista talks about her — xiomara is not her chummiest victor, often being styled by her co-worker, aurelius, but she talks enough with the girl, and has talked with her victors, to know she has a place in town. it's a good measure, she thinks. it grounds you to the city, almost makes them one of her own — not that any of the victors will ever truly be capitol, but, in xiomara's family, she is the only one that has gotten this close. it's as good as ever shot, she thinks. her credentials work better here, and the stylist is allowed upstairs at once and, in no time, she is knocking on the victor's door. "xiomara!" she calls out. "open this door and come tell me you're not a part of that rabble of traitors!" domitila doesn’t care much who hears it; if xiomara is proper, she won’t either.

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional: July 13th
Tozer in the Morning Man - The Dwelling Place of God - Why People Find the Bible Difficult
THAT MANY PERSONS FIND THE BIBLE HARD to understand will not be denied by those acquainted with the facts. Testimony to the difficulties encountered in Bible reading is too full and too widespread to be dismissed lightly.
In human experience there is usually a complex of causes rather than but one cause for everything, and so it is with the difficulty we run into with the Bible. To the question, Why is the Bible hard to understand? no snap answer can be given; the pert answer is sure to be the wrong one. The problem is multiple instead of singular, and for this reason the effort to find a single solution to it will be disappointing.
In spite of this I venture to give a short answer to the question, and while it is not the whole answer it is a major one and probably contains within itself most of the answers to what must be an involved and highly complex question. 1 believe that we find the Bible difficult because we try to read it as we would read any other book, and it is not the same as any other book.
The Bible is not addressed to just anybody. Its message is directed to a chosen few. Whether these few are chosen by God in a sovereign act of election or are chosen because they meet certain qualifying conditions I leave to each one to decide as he may, knowing full well that his decision will be determined by his basic beliefs about such matters as predestination, free will, the eternal decrees and other related doctrines. But whatever may have taken place in eternity, it is obvious what happens in time: Some believe and some do not; some are morally receptive and some are not; some have spiritual capacity and some have not. It is to those who do and are and have that the Bible is addressed. Those who do not and are not and have not will read it in vain.
Right here I expect some readers to enter strenuous objections, and for reasons not hard to find. Chrisianity today is man-centered, not God-centered. God is made to wait patiently, even respectfully, on the whims of men. The image of God currently popular is that of a distracted Father, struggling in heartbroken desperation to get people to accept a Saviour of whom they feel no need and in whom they have very little interest. To persuade these self-sufficient souls to respond to His generous offers God will do almost anything, even using salesmanship methods and talking down to them in the chummiest way imaginable. This view of things is, of course, a kind of religious romanticism which, while it often uses flattering and sometimes embarassing terms in praise of God, manages nevertheless to make man the star of the show.
The notion that the Bible is addressed to everybody has wrought confusion within and without the church. The effort to apply the teaching of the Sermon
on the Mount to the unregenerate nations of the world is one example of this. Courts of law and the military powers of the earth are urged to follow the teachings of Christ, an obviously impossible thing for them to do. To quote the words of Christ as guides for policemen, judges and generals is to misunderstand those words completely and to reveal a total lack of understanding of the purposes of divine revelation. The gracious words of Christ are for the sons and daughters of grace, not for the Gentile nations whose chosen symbols are the lion, the eagle, the dragon and the bear.
Not only does God address His words of truth to those who are able to receive them, He actually conceals their meaning from those who are not. The preacher uses stories to make truth clear; our Lord often used them to obscure it. The parables of Christ were the exact opposite of the modern "illustration," which is meant to give light; the parables were "dark sayings" and Christ asserted that He sometimes used them so that His disciples could understand and His enemies could not. (See Matthew 13:10-17.) As the pillar of fire gave light to Israel but was cloud and darkness to the Egyptians, so our Lord's words shine in the hearts of His people but leave the self-confident unbeliever in the obscurity of moral night.
The saving power of the Word is reserved for those for whom it is intended. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him. The impenitent heart will find the Bible but a skeleton of facts without flesh or life or breath. Shakespeare may be enjoyed without penitence; we may understand Plato without believing a word he says; but penitence and humility along with faith and obedience are necessary to a right understanding of the Scriptures.
In natural matters faith follows evidence and is impossible without it, but in the realm of the spirit faith precedes understanding; it does not follow it. The natural man must know in order to believe; the spiritual man must believe in order to know. The faith that saves is not a conclusion drawn from evidence; it is a moral thing, a thing of the spirit, a supernatural infusion of confidence in Jesus Christ, a very gift of God.
The faith that saves reposes in the Person of Christ; it leads at once to a committal of the total being to Christ, an act impossible to the natural man. To believe rightly is as much a miracle as was the coming forth of dead Lazarus at the command of Christ.
The Bible is a supernatural book and can be understood only by supernatural aid.
Tozer in the Evening "SOMEONE" IS THERE
Wherever faith has proved itself to be real, it has inevitably had upon it a sense of the "present" God. The holy Scriptures possess in marked degree this feeling of actual encounter with a real Person. The men and women of the Bible talked with God. They spoke to Him and heard Him speak in words they could understand. With Him they held person-to-person converse, and a sense of shining reality is upon their words and deeds. This sense of "Someone there" filled the members of the early Christian church with abiding wonder. The solemn delight which those early disciples knew sprang straight from the conviction that there was One in the midst of them-they were in the very Presence of God! This sense of "Someone" there makes religion invulnerable to critical attack. It secures the mind against collapse under the battering of the enemy. Those who worship the God who is present may ignore the objection of unbelieving men!

"Sheriff!” Cana waved him over once she saw Bigby come in, not seeming to mind the beer bottle she was holding. “About time you showed up, you know I hate drinking alone.” Far from the truth. Cana was perfectly fine drinking with or without company, but admittedly it was more fun if Bigby was around to hear her complain. “Barkeep, a beer for this nice gentleman, please!” She slammed her hand down on the bar before chugging the rest of her own beer. The bartender wasn’t fazed by her behavior in the slightest; not only was Cana a regular, but also a former employee     she usually got a little rowdy after the sixth beer. “So, how how did today go?” She turned to Bigby. “Catch any evildoers, Mr. Big Bad Wolf?”

❧ 22. Cullen
❧ Masterlist - Previous - Next
❧ A/N: Progression? I think so.
Tumblr media
Threads of anxiety looped and knotted inside of your stomach, prompting you to shift on the spot uncomfortably. Three days had passed since your conversation with Kaede, and in a matter of minutes you would be seeing the model in person. Usually meeting Kaede was a pleasant experience, drawing joy to the surface rather than fear. However, there was something that was rather off about your latest exchange with her.
At first you chalked it up to paranoia, but when you informed Kuroo about your meeting, even he suspected that the meeting was a cover for something else. He questioned it, noting that each of Iwaizumi’s friends had taken an interest in you. And when you assured him that it would be fine, he flicked you on the forehead and invited himself to your meeting.
Now standing at the entrance of the café, you were secretly happy for the additional support.
“Oi.” Kuroo reached out to pinch your cheek, an action that guided your attention back to reality. “That hurts, y/n. I was talking about something important, and you tuned me out.”
“Tetsu, I tuned you out after you started talking about some YouTube conspiracy.” A dim smile reached your mouth as you shook your head. “I don’t think that qualifies as important.”
Kuroo furrowed his brows in mock hurt, allowing a hand to rest upon his chest.
“Harsh. Is that how you treat your friend who came to back you up?”
“More like, the friend who decided to crash my meeting.” Releasing a gentle laugh, you tugged the sulking man closer, looping an arm through his. “But I do appreciate you. I really hope this is just a meeting about work, and nothing else. It’s hard enough having Matsukawa and Hanamaki involved.”
“Don’t worry. If they step out of bounds, I’ll deal with it.” The male shot down a confident grin, one that shimmed with insanity. You were going to respond to him with a firm “no kuroo” when a familiar voice rang in the air, calling out to you.
“My beautiful y/n!” Kaede waved her arms dramatically as she proceeded closer to where you were situated. Trailing behind her was Miya Atsumu, wearing a grimace. “So sorry we’re late. Also, hey Cullen. I didn’t know you were joining us.”
The recipient of the nickname wore a strained smile, hoping you would let it pass.
“Cullen? As in Edward Cullen?” Confusion brought your eyelids to rise and fall gracefully as you glanced at Kaede and then Kuroo. “Am I missing something?”
“I don’t get it either.” Atsumu added, electing to bypass any formal introduction. “He looks like a scam artist, not a vampire.”
“Oh yeah? I don’t think someone whose hair looks like orange peels should be talking.” Kuroo unhooked his arm from yours, then gave a nonchalant shrug. The two never were the chummiest, despite their close relationship with Bokuto. In fact, the pair were known for bickering whenever they attended a gathering together.
Why did you think it was a good idea bringing him again?
“Kaede – you told me the colour looked fine!” The setter whipped his attention to his sister in law with fury animating his irises.
“I don’t think he was referring to the colour…” Kaede merely whistled innocently after providing her justification.
“The cut?!”
Okay, this was your cue to step in.
“I think we should all just settle down for a second. Yes? Why don’t we go inside, hm?” Moving behind your friend, you pressed your palms against his back, ushering him forward. “We wouldn’t want them to run out of their best snacks, now would we?”
“Yeah, great idea. I love the way you think, y/n!” Instead of mimicking your movement, Kaede opted to grasp Atsumu’s ear instead, tugging him forward with her. “Come now, little orange. We’ll get you another haircut after we eat.”
Tumblr media
Kaede, as an apology for starting the squabble, paid for the drinks and confections. You had insisted on paying for your own share, but the model threatened to burst out crying if you paid for yourself. Knowing her acting skills, you chose not to take the risk – especially in a public setting.
Once the four of you sat down, purchases in hand, your first thought was to shift the conversation to business.
“So… Miya, you’re planning a bachelor party, right?” It was a soft prod in the right direction.
“Yeah. My friend Aran’s bachelor party. It’s supposed to be happenin’ next month.” Leaning back in his chair, Atsumu scratched the back of his neck. “I know that isn’t much time. I’m sorry.”
It was impossible to conceal your natural reaction to his revelation. Your eyes expanded in size as your mouth fell slightly open. “Could you repeat that? Next month?” You were already stretched thin with the wedding and occasional birthday parties… now this? “Okay. Perhaps I could do it. Do you have any ideas already? A concept for it?”
You had already forgotten the presence of the other two individuals. Your mind had fixated on the potential task you were adding to your list. It should come as no surprise that you missed the small jab Kaede delivered to Atsumu upon your inquiries. But Kuroo caught it, causing him to lean his weight onto the table. Whatever Atsumu said next would reveal the true meaning behind this meeting. He was sure of it.
Except it wasn’t Atsumu who bestowed the answer.
“Actually, y/n! ‘Tsumu was thinking of doing a shout-out for Aran. I know you’re working with that radio host. Any way you could get him to do us a solid?” Kaede smiled sheepishly, and the first thing you thought was - that it didn’t suit her face.
But it appeared that Kuroo was right, and so was your gut feeling. This was simply another attempt at finding out more about your relationship with Daiki.
How upsetting.
“You and your friends are really something. You scheme like little kids.” Kuroo scoffed out his insult, but it was the irritation in his eyes that was far more threatening. “If Iwaizumi wanted to know about y/n’s past, he should have asked.”
“Why don’t we take it back a notch, Rooster.” Kaede seethed in response. Beside her, Atsumu had tensed up, and it was becoming clear that the only person who could remedy the situation was you.
“Tetsu, please remain mannered.” A glance was cast in his direction, accompanying your instructions. “And Kaede… I understand that you and your friends care very deeply about Iwaizumi. I really do. I think it’s sweet how close you all are. But if you wanted to ask me about something, you could have simply done so. You didn’t have to drag your brother in law into it, and create a fictional meeting.” Disappointment washed over your features, causing Kaede to fumble in her response.
“No, y/n. I’m sorry - ”
“Let me tell you the story that you wanted to hear, Kaede. And Miya, I do apologize for this. You probably do not want to hear about my life, and now you sadly will.” Inhaling a breath for courage, you secured your gaze with Kaede’s to illustrate your sincerity. “I met him when I was in high school. He was this messed up rich kid who nobody liked. And I wanted to… I don’t know, be the one to ‘fix him’. It sounds stupid now. But at that time, I thought you could save someone with love… And that’s what I did, I befriended him and fell in love.”
The atmosphere had changed substantially, and it was strange having the attention solely on you. And well, airing out your past mistakes was never pleasing.
“Anyway… At first it was fine. We got close, and I was happy. But as time went on, each step we took forward, the more scared he got. Then came the rumours that he was hooking up with random girls in the hallways during class. And those rumours…” A humourless laugh crawled up your throat as the memory resurfaced.
“They weren’t rumours at all. So, I let him go, and he told me he didn’t care. Yeah…He didn’t care, right? So then why did he become so angry when I made friends with the quiet boy in my art class? And why did he beat that poor boy to the point of death? I don’t know. But I’m sure you can fill in the blanks.”
Kaede’s lips had parted to deliver another apology, you were quick to continue to cut her off.
“So, Kaede, if you are still somehow wondering whether there is a chance that I would go back to him, the answer is no. I sincerely hope that satisfies you.”

why was sherlock holmes always people’s last resort?
if he had a reputation of genius such as dr. watson records, why would desperate people bother with the police first and use up all of their other assets before turning to him? sherlock wasn’t the chummiest man but he was a gentleman; people should not have hesitated to seek out his services as they did. so why the stand offishness?
my theory:
sherlock must have had some pre-existing reputation to keep all polite society away. we know that he was a gentleman but why was he so alienated from his peer’s company? why so detached from the society he was born in? because, no surprises, he was gay and while he wasn’t openly out in such a homophobic society, he was much more bold about it than others, as was his method of operation. rumors and past scandals kept people from seeking out his services unless they had no other choice.
think about it. if you have read sir arthur conan doyle’s work, you know i am right.
