Here's my take on Professor Jonathan Crane:

There's so many different versions of him, so here is basically my own version. This version isn't based on one piece of Batman media in particular and takes bits and pieces! Should I like, call this the ChronicBeansverse or something? Chronicverse? Idk but I'ma just roll with it.

💉 Okay, so in my version of Jonathan Crane's backstory, he has a similar one to the Year One: Batman/Scarecrow version, with a few added points. Whilst not explicitly a cult of any sort, many members of the Keeny Family take their love of God and Christianity to a very cultish degree. The church they went to was a normal, healthy church environment with no extreme views; the Keeny family just took it to another level. This, alongside his great-grandmother's abuse, has caused Jonathan to have a large amount of religious trauma and impacted the way he views religion as a whole. He genuinely fears it and those who follow religion, actively avoiding them due to a fear that they will hurt him in some way. The same goes for birds, due to their use in his abuse.

💉 The events during his school years didn't actually happen in this universe. During school, he was just seen as the quiet kid, or kind of like a ghost. Nobody really noticed him, so nobody really bullied him. What ended up causing his love of fear was him realizing that, for the more devoted and fanatic members of his family, they used fear to keep him and others in line. They'd threaten, they'd damn, and they'd use any fear tactic to get others to do their will. So, in a desperate attempt to gain some level of control in his life, he vowed to find a way to instill that same fear into them.

💉 There is ONE family member whom Jonathan liked, which was his younger cousin, John Keeny. John was a pretty nice boy to him, seemingly unaware of the abuse their great-grandmother was putting him through or the fact that other family members didn't like Jonathan due to his illegitimacy, but seemed to disappear after a while. John is currently living in Gotham, but Jonathan doesn't know that. I might make a post on John Keeny later on.

💉 In this little universe, Jonathan Crane works as a professor of psychology at Gotham University. He is generally seen as a strict professor, with a few exceptions. He truly wants to see his students succeed, which is why he is so strict. The only students he sees as exceptions are those who have special needs, such as a learning disability or a physical one. They may not be able to come into class in time to meet his strict schedule, or may have difficulty reading the textbooks he requires them to use, etc. So, instead, he'll work more directly with them to accommodate for them, such as tutoring after class or simply checking in on them more often during normal class time to make sure they are doing fine.

💉 He's one of the newer villains, who still hasn't been noticed by the masses of Gotham. So, he still has his job, and doesn't even have his Scarecrow villain persona or costume. He does have a lab in the basement of his house, where he performs experiments of unwilling test subjects using his fear toxin. So, for now, the few villains who know about him call him a "fledgling criminal", with those few villains being The Riddler and The Penguin. Jonathan is completely unaware that these two know he is a criminal, nor has he ever spoken to or met them in his life.

💉 What he has been doing, as of current, is plucking random people off the streets of Gotham and keeping them in his basement, using the fear toxin on them. There are currently three different forms he has made of the fear toxin: a powdered version that can be used to lace food or drinks, an injectable version, and a gas version that can be used in open air or large spaces. So far, he has found the injection to be the strongest, with the gas being the weakest, but effecting many at once.

💉 Once he's done with a "patient", he will knock them out before tossing them back to the streets, leaving them scared and confused. They usually don't remember much of what happened, either, as a side effect of the fear toxin is foggy memories or a complete loss of memory for a certain time period before, during, and after exposure. They know SOMETHING happened, but not what. This has helped Jonathan in hiding his activities from the police.

💉 He doesn't have any real plans of making a villain persona (aka the Scarecrow), since he doesn't see a need for one. While he is making his fear toxin, as of current, he has no plans to use it for crimes like robbery, murder, or the likes. He would only need a villain persona if he planned to do crimes out in the open, right? He doesn't plan for his toxin to escape his basement, at least, not for now. His toxin is made out of a desire to learn more about fear. He is a researcher at heart, with his experimentation being done out of the purest, most sadistic form of curiosity. Why ruin it by using it for something other than research? It isn't even complete, yet!

Imma OC dump there; going to be a big ramble.

My Reborn OC Eliza is an example I can think of. Being the daughter of a transphobic and ableist father caused her nothing but pain and turmoil (because people tend to loathe and distrust her due to being related to Sigmund and for what the doctor did). Her relationship with him is complicated and became worse during the last 5 years. Oh, and he's emotionally subtly manipulative/abusive (like gaslighting her) too.

It took a long time (and shit ton of drama and situations getting much worse before it got better) for her to cut ties him Sigmund despite a part of her still grieving losing someone (eventually got over after some years passed). But he's an bastard and a lost cause since Sigmund (in my AU at least) has gone too far beyond redemption and became more delusional and obsessive.

i fucking hate it when a movie or a tv show does some shit where a character has a shitty dad and another character tells them to forgive him because. "it's your dad". that means nothing. more people should be killing their fathers.

So I have a Rebornverse OC (Eliza) that is one of Reborn's Elite Four (she replaces Anna in my AU). She specializes in Psychic- and Electric types and uses her own Field Effect she had created called "Psychic Arena Field" (a custom Field Effect I made). Alternatives for her could be Psychic Terrain, Rainbow Field or Holy Field.

Ah, thank you so much!! I recognise a lot of your art and the ideas you have for your Chronicverse seem really intriguing, so, it means a lot that you like my content!! ^-^

Um.. I must admit that I often struggle with coming up with headcanons. But, one that I did have is that Luna’s mother was related to Cynthia (possibly her sister?), since Luna’s sprites were largely created with Cynthia’s as a base, if I recall correctly. I also like the idea of her name being Selene, to continue the moon theme, and maybe Luna looked quite similar to her which is why their names also follow a similar theme. She most likely passed away or otherwise left the picture when Luna was still very young, but she gave her the first taste of fairytales and stories that Luna loved so much, introducing her to worlds and tales outside the confines of her upbringing at Elias’ hands. I like to think that Luna and her mother were close.

Regarding Luna’s childhood beyond that point.. well, it definitely wasn’t a happy one, we know that. But, I like to think that Taka took on quite an older brother sort of role to her, especially while they were both much younger, since the two of them seemed to be all that the other had. He helped bring her out of her shell a tiny bit, but by the time Luna was able to run away with the help of Shade, he had already resigned himself to his position and didn’t feel he could get out himself. I also think that after Luna ran away, she didn’t go straight to Radomus, and instead hid herself away in Iolia Valley, so she had to fend for herself for a while. It was in the dark crystal caves there that she met a lot of her current Pokémon, but her Umbreon was originally an Eevee she brought with her when she ran away from Elias, which is part of why it’s now her ace Pokémon.

Since her brother had moved in with her, Thea had barely had the chance to go out on her own. It was as though Oliver was trying to make up for lost time and spend every waking moment with his little sister. Not that she didn’t love having him around, but he seemed to put a damper on her creative energy.

So there she sat, alone at a pretty rough bar, trying to rekindle a little but of inspiration. Thea wanted so badly to put paint to canvas or pencil to paper. Letting out an exasperated sigh, she ordered herself her usual. Like a flash, she caught a glance of a familiar face out of the corner of her eye.

Something Old, Something New

Artemis had to admit, this was probably the cheesiest thing she had ever done. Walking into the restaurant with her hair curled around her shoulders as she relentlessly tried pulling down on a dress she knew was too short, she couldn’t help but feel like the protagonist in a typical Hallmark movie. 

And she hated it.

M’gann kept saying it was time for her to get back out there finally, and that any guy on the team would kill to take her out, but Artemis had consistently denied their offers. She was just... done with dating heroes after what happened to Wal- Artemis shook her head. She didn’t want to think about him tonight, especially after M’gann went through such trouble to set her up with the nice guy from sociology class with dreamy eyes and dark, shiny hair. Her friend’s description of the stranger was enough to make her roll her eyes, but after being lead to the table where he was sitting by the hostess, she finally knew what M’gann had been talking about.

“Wow,” Artemis breathed, a little surprised at the man she saw in front of her. “I definitely wasn’t expecting someone like you.” She paused, thinking how stupid she just sounded, and let out a light laugh. “I’m sorry, this just isn’t really my thing. I’m Artemis, Meagan’s friend.” She held out her hand across the table.

Getting them out with slight troubles, she shut the trunk with her elbow and turned only to hit a passerby with the bags and breaking two. “I am so sorry!”

Laura Belrose (20)

• Always was found of Grass Type and loved planting flowers since 5.

• She has OCD (short for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder); mostly in symmetry and orderliness (like she loves the Nummer "8" or putting her clothes straight together the same way.)

• She was constantly bullied by other for her hobbys and often called her "Plant Weirdo", resulting her to become socially awkward and often shy.

• She has still nightmares from her father's death and mother's demise; often calling out for them.

• Laura willingly underwent the ECT therapy as means to forget her own pain/ coping and EVEN asks them to rise the volts. This resulted her to become depended on Sigmund and being a voluntary subject for further research.

• As a result of several ECT treatments, she suffered temporal memory loss, nausea, sore muscles and has low blood pressure. 

• Physically she's the weakest from the 3 sisters, but surprisingly mentally strong to handle a few things on her own.

• In her free time, she would neither write or drawn in her notebook (given as a gift) or helping with chores in the Treatment House, when she was underage.

• She's mostly shy, but very kind and helpful. However she would not hesitate to attack, when it comes to her love ones.

• She has mixed feelings for her Eliza and is a bit envious of her reputation, but holds no ill will towards the girl.

• She has a big knowledge about Berries and often would sneak a few to study them. Also an extent level to make healing herbs.

• When being allowed to go outside, Laura often visited Madame Megama (not the Megamium, but a 47 year old lady) an old friend of hers.

• Laura was never interested in fighting like her sisters, but with encouragement and slow gained self-esteem, she started to train Grass Pokemon since 14.

• At 16, she managed to pass an qualification for a E4 position (mostly with a weather strategy and some Recovery) and become one of the Elite Four.

• Her first Pokemon was a Petilili since she was 7, but later got an Eevee as well (recieved as an Egg given by her mother), which will become Leafeon later.

• Her favourite flower is Gracidea along with Roses, Lilies and Sunflowers.

• She often would see Shaymin in her dreams and prays to it. One day, she found a harpin in such shape, that might be a special gift from Shaymin herself.

• She and Bennett had talked a little, as he admired and has a crush on her since then.

YIPPEE!!! My little version of the Riddler! Took me freaking FOREVER.

❓ Let's start with the obvious. This guy's a huge narcissist. Specifically, he is a cerebral narcissist, which is a type of narcissism where the person focuses mainly on flaunting their intellectual ability. He acts extremely pretentious about his intelligence, often speaking to those around him in a condescending tone. However, there are a few times where he does try to flaunt his appearance, specifically in the way he dresses. This, in its own way, is him flaunting his intellect. He wears fancy outfits because he believes the masses won't understand what he is saying, so they need something to remember him by. If they can't understand or remember a thing he says, they'll remember how he presents himself.

❓ This goes into his villain persona of The Riddler. He wears a simple green suit and dress pants. Underneath, he wears a sparkling black dress shirt and purple tie. Mask? What mask? A mask wouldn't be as interesting for the public to see as makeup. He uses makeup to create a "mask". Around his left eye he makes a shimmering green question mark, with the rest of his "mask" being purple makeup. He spends a LOT of time on his makeup. He needs to show just how dedicated he is to proving the masses need teaching.

❓ You see, while his main goal is to prove his intellectual superiority, he also does want to teach the ignorant rabble a thing or two. In fact, before his first capture and subsequent firing, he was an English professor at Gotham University. That was how he learned about Professor Crane, since he was hired a year before Edward became The Riddler. He chose English, because it was not only his favorite subject as a kid, but also the one he got the highest grades in. He even wrote short stories in his free time, winning a few awards in competitions.

❓ He always wears long sleeves and long pants while outside, even in the blistering summer heat. He has a few nasty habits, some of which are related to his OCD, which already causes him to have anxieties around his outfits and other aspects of his life. His main issue that causes him to wear long clothing is his excoriation disorder, causing him to pick and scratch at his skin, mainly his arms, legs, and the soles of his feet. This has led to a few of his captures by Batman, where he would start running only to double over in pain as he steps on his foot the wrong way, right where he last picked at it.

❓ He doesn't have a compulsion to leave behind riddles at his crimes in this universe. Instead, his compulsions tend to be about security. He'll got around his house or lair, checking the locks on his doors repeatedly. He needs to make sure those doors are locked. Not only does he have Batman as a problem, but Gotham IS the most crime filled city in the USA. Who knows if some random criminal is going to decide to try to break in and steal his things? Much worse, try to kill him? He may be smart, but even he is aware that he isn't the strongest in terms of physical strength.

❓ He also needs to make sure he is clean. Whenever he walks by one of the various sinks, bottles of hand sanitizer, or any material used for personal hygiene, he needs to clean himself. Not only is it so that he is presentable, but also so that he doesn't get infections from the various places on his skin he has picked and scratched at. Sometimes he goes from washing his hands, to his arms, then he decides that he might as well hop in the shower for the second time that day. A big part of why he hates going to Arkham Asylum is that they limit him to one shower, so when he gets that compulsion to take another one, he has to just sit and die inside. Also, that place is FILTHY to him.

❓ He isn't very open about his backstory. When he does talk about it, he'll sometimes contradict himself. He mainly opens up about successes, which all don't have any contradicting story to cause any suspicion of whether or not they are true. However, when he is asked about any negatives in his childhood, there are a LOT of contradicting storylines. This has caused many doctors in Arkham to heavily suspect that, while there could be some truth to the tales he tells of abuse by his parents, he may either be embellishing them or completely making up events to garner sympathy for himself. After looking into his family, they did find that he was embellishing the truth and creating false events, though his father was abusive towards both him and his mother. However, despite what Edward says, there doesn't seem to be any documented evidence of abuse from his mother. New staff members and patients that are expected to possibly get into contact with Edward are warned of this, as he has been shown to have a habit of using these stories, both true and false, to manipulate others into feeling sorry for him.

❓ His way with words has given him a streak not only attempting to, but successfully manipulating both patients and staff members alike. Before people found out of his lies regarding his background, he had been able to manipulate a doctor into giving him special treatment regarding recreation time, meals, and even objects like books to keep in his cell, which led to him escaping using those privileges. Many of the people who work for him do so under the guise that he is some poor man that people hate due to whatever reason he drums up that day. When these goons of his get hurt by his actions, he feels them back in with the excuse of "oh, I am so sorry. Everyone makes mistakes! I'm just a human, you know. I'm growing and working on myself. Give me another chance!"

❓ When he worked at Gotham University, he had practically every other teacher there convinced that he was a good person. Everyone except Professor Crane, due to him knowing better and being able to see through his manipulative tactics, partly due to his degree in psychology. This caused Edward to resent the man with a passion, until later on in his criminal career, when he witnessed Professor Crane getting ready to commit his latest crime of "acquiring another patient from the streets". That resentment quickly turned to intrigue, as he realized he could have more competition in the criminal underworld.
