𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞   𝐚𝐫𝐞   𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬   𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧   𝐢𝐭   𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥   𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬   𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥.         too   good   to   be   true   almost.            ―            like   a   dream   he’s   fallen   into   while   incubated.      a   fear   one   day   he’ll   wake   up      &      discover   it   never   happened         :         the   warm   hands      /      the   regular   heartbeat         .   .   .         being   able   to   take   a   breath   without   sharp   pain   piercing   through   his   chest.      being   able   to   live   again.         it   hits   denny   sometimes   when   he   least   expects   it.      simple   things,      such   as   being   able   to   cook,      bring   the   realisation   on         :         the   thought   of   just   how   goddamn   lucky   he   got.         and   there’s   one   person         (      several   in   fact,      but   none   as   pretty   as   her   which   is   perhaps   why   she   gets   the   main   focus      )         he   owes   all   that   too.         somebody   who   fought   for   him   when   even   he’d   stopped   fighting   for   himself.                     ＂         dr.   isobel   stevens.         ＂                        her   name   rolls   off   his   tongue,      hints   of   that   old   southern   accent   seeping   through   as   he   spots   blonde   hair   that’s   become   just   as   FAMILIAR   to   him   as   these   hospital   walls.   

how   different   it   feels   to   be   here   as   a   visitor   rather   than   a   patient.      no   tubes   attached   or   bed   rest   demands.      to   be   in   his   own   clothes,      hands   pushing   into   low   -riding   jean   pockets   while   stepping   towards   izzie.         denny   probably   shouldn’t   be   pestering   her   during   work   hours,      but   how   is   he   supposed   to   resist   when   she’s   right   there?                     ＂         you   know         .   .   .            i   was   only   here   to   deliver   a   donation   to   the   chief   in   person,      but   now   that   i’ve   seen   you?         i   think   i   might   be   getting   a   little   hot.         ＂                     he   feigns   concern   as   he   speaks,      head   dipping   down   and   voice   lowering   slightly.                     ＂         someone   should   check   my   temperature.         make   sure   it’s   nothing   serious.         ＂                     he   can’t   hold   back   the   smile   that   wants   to   escape   any   longer;         it   stretches   wide   across   his   features,      just   for   her.                     ＂         i   thought   about   asking   alex,      but   i’m   pretty   sure   that   dude   still   doesn’t   like   me.         ＂

𝐆𝐄𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐄 𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍'𝐓 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐗 𝐌𝐔𝐂𝐇. That was well known at this point, but Izzy was his friend, and she said the guy was alright... He had originally planned to rub it in his face, make a big joke about it. The same way everyone else had jumped on the 007 bandwagon; he had thought about it, but that wasn't him. (He knew if he was ever pushed to the brink - then it might come up, but that was a side of himself he didn't allow out often.)

They hadn't talked much since it happened.

George had been talking to Burke, a massive contrast from the last time Burke put him on the spot. Discussions on if he had ever thought about cardio? He hadn't even thought about Alex until he had awkwardly seen him in the changing room. He hadn't said anything. Hadn't spoken to him, and was getting ready to go to the bar with Cristina, Meredith and Izzy. Their usual afterwork hangout. THEN - he heard the comment. He had wanted to avoid this. This had been a high for him, this had been his day to do something bad ass, and he didn't want it to end up turning into a fight in the locker room.

❛ Why are you TRYING to cause an argument, Alex? but if you really wanna know, I know EXACTLY what it's like to choke and for everyone to be a dick about it. So, no I'm not going to make some stupid witty remark, or give you some stupid nickname because I know you already are beating yourself up about it. The patient is fine, that's all that matters. Someone else will do something and that will be the joke of the week. So, thanks for the assist. I have plans. ❜

Everything had happened so spur of the moment, a whirlwind of emotions and doubt, all wrapped up in the notion that Rory just needed time away from school. She needed time to be a normal, regular college student, instead of spending all of her time as she had been, which clearly had been for nothing if she didn't even have "it" to make it as a journalist.

"Nope," she replied a little sullenly, flipping through a furniture catalogue with one hand, while the other idly circled anything in red pen. Her grandmother still refused to even look at a laptop, insisting this way made more sense and was easier, and Rory wasn't about to argue. But the pool house was basically a one bedroom apartment as it was, not to mention the rotation of maids, and it wasn't as if she was planning to stay dropped out of Yale. Right?

Tongue clicked to the roof of her mouth, her thoughts anywhere else but what colors went with which patterns, blue eyes looking up to Logan's concerned own. She knew he wanted to tell her more, that she needed to not rush into all of this with school and her grandparents, and she should have told her mom first and gotten some kind of pep-talk, but.... Rory didn't want that. She was allowed to let loose and have fun, and not worry about the consequences.

A forced smile found its way on her lips, dropping the pen to reach her hand out to take Logan's. "Hey, come on, don't give me that look. There is nothing wrong with taking time off from school to figure things out. Like a gap year or something, and I doubt it'll even be that long," Rory insisted, unsure of who she was trying to convince.

THE  NIGHT  STARTED  OUT  WELL  ENOUGH.        Bobby  had  told  her  that  they  were  going  on  a  double  date  with  a  friend  of  his,  but  he  never  mentioned  who  (  and  to  be  fair,  she  never  asked  him.  She  was  just  happy  to  get  to  meet  more  of  his  friends  since  it  had  been  so  long  ).  Natalia  had  gone  out  and  bought  a  new  dress  and  wanted  to  make  sure  she  looked  presentable  enough  since  she  was  still  rebuilding  her  belongings  since  all  she  had  had  fit  in  her  luggage.

Everything  was  turning  out  to  be  great  until  she  saw  the  woman  who  had  answered  the  door  at  the  address  Bobby  had  given  her  to  where  Johnny  was...  and  then  Johnny  and  her  stomach  dropped  and  suddenly  she  wasn't  drunk  enough  for  what  was  about  to  happen.  

Yeah,  she  had  been  avoiding  going  back  to  see  Johnny  but  she  didn't  think  it  would  be  quite  appropriate  after  she  and  Bobby  started  dating.  She  was  doing  it  out  of  respect  and  now  she  was  feeling  blindsided.  She  hardly  touched  her  food  and  focused  on  a  liquid  dinner  as  the  whole  thing  seemed  more  tense  than  anything  she  had  ever  been  through  before.  Of  course,  Shannon  recognized  her.  How  could  she  not?  Johnny  hadn't  even  looked  at  her  and  Bobby  was  so  tense  beside  her  that  she  could  all  but  feel  it  radiating  off  of  him.

Suddenly  she  stood  up  without  saying  much  of  anything  except  a  murmured,  "I'll  be  right  back."  Standing  up  too  quickly  wasn't  exactly  optimal  on  a  few  glasses  of  wine  so  she  steadied  herself  before  she  made  her  way  outside  and  as  soon  as  the  cool  night  air  hit  her  face  she  just  began  to  laugh.  She  laughed  until  she  had  to  sit  down  on  the  concrete  flowerpot  and  then  she  cried.  Elbows  on  her  knees  and  her  face  in  her  hands  and  her  whole  body  shook  with  the  effort  to  contain  the  sobs  that  caused  the  trembling  throughout  her  body.  She  was  angry  and  she  was  hurting  and  worst  of  all,  she  was  EMBARASSED.  Deep  down,  she  knew  Bobby  meant  well  and  that  this  was  something  he  had  been  pushing  for,  for  her  to  actually  go  talk  to  him  again  but  she  just  was  finding  every  excuse  not  to  so  he  took  that  excuse  away  from  her.  It  was  admirable,  she  gave  him  that.  But  it  didn't  make  it  hurt  any  less.

▌♔ ▌“ You have to quit pushing me away, Betts. Please....” The use of her nickname seems inappropriate, and he knows it STINGS---- he doesn’t know whether that will bring her closer, or push her away even further. He loves her, GOD---- he does. Ever since he laid eyes on her, everyone and everything disappearing around them, ...until it was just the two of them, nothing and no one else existed. Betty Cooper.... a hard shell to crack, one with a sharp and quick tongue. She always had a comeback for everything... never once he caught her in silence. 

The northsider gals could NEVER compare to her. They had attitude, sure! And fought with their words, yeah, okay. But Betty on the other hand ALSO had attitude, and fought with her FIST--- and words. She was a rare one among the sea of Northsiders, stuck out like a sore thumb. He found himself staring at her, intrigued by her razor-sharp glare that she tossed at his fellow Bulldogs. Why her? For someone who has had dozens of girlfriends in his past.... Betty took the cake. Break ups were only just that---- a break up. He didn’t go home and mope around, starving himself and refusing to shower. No, he didn’t. Heck, he was the one who did the breaking up, and told the girls he needed to focus on baseball season. With a broken smile they’d turn quickly on their heels and leave. A heartbreaker...... what a fucking heartbreaker he was. Was this Karama? All the hearts her broke... and now here he was.... getting his heart broken by the ONE person who opened his eyes. She helped him see what was over the white picketed fence... though truthfully, he knew there was more out there... Just needed someone to guide him. The Northsider lets out a shaky breath, reaching out for her carefully--- it’s as if he didn’t want to scare her off. Didn’t know what the right approach was.... “Betty.... I don’t care... You hear me. I don’t care if you’re a Serpent... I don’t care about what my parents think! I don’t care. If-- If my dad told you something... you have to talk to me, please.” He wasn’t one to beg, but it’s like losing a part of you over stupid shit. With his dad being a cop, and his family being high profile... he knew his fellow bulldogs, and so-called friends would all be against his relationship with Betty Cooper. She wasn’t just some Serpent... but the next one to take the throne. They consider her people a danger. SNAKES----- venomous. What did his father do? “.... I know... I know we aren’t supposed to be together, alright, I get it. But I don’t-- I don’t fucking care. You understand that? I mean who are you to follow rules anyways?! Is it so awful to feel this good around each other? So what if everyone is against it? They can all suck it for all I care. Don’t you see... Betty... I love you. I can’t explain to you what you do to me. it’s like nothing else out there. You make my heartbeat fast--- and slow at once? Makes no sense, huh? You make everything better... before my life was black and white, and nothing else. Until I met you I saw color... Please... stop pushing me away, no more. Please...”
