regulus, who’s never been all that good at giving gifts—always overthinking, making the safe choice. and james who just picks the perfect thing, but wrapping? he’s hopeless. it’s tape in all the wrong places and corners bulging, like he wrapped them in the dark.

so it’s easy, the way they fit: james buys, regulus wraps.

each december, they sit on the couch. knees pressed together, their show low in the background. james cuts uneven strips of tape and passes them to regulus, who folds and smooths the paper effortlessly. james sticks the gift tags on top and regulus writes from reg & james in perfect loops.

james makes sure though, before each gift joins the pile, to pluck the pen from reg’s hand and add little heart next to their names <3
