For lack of anything better to do, Carlos attended a SimFest.

He wasn't impressed with the performance and said so to the proprietor.

She shrugged.

"You think you can do better?"

"I know I can do better," Carlos said with a laugh.

"Everyone says that," said the proprietor tiredly. "Most of them are wrong. But come back after you get some experience performing, and we'll see what you've got."

Carlos smiled. "I used to be a Hit Movie Composer. I don't lack experience, I lack opportunities."

The proprietor shook her head.

"Not the same. Did you perform your compositions?--Live? As a one-man band? Of course you didn't; it would be ridiculous.

"Performing," she added, "is a different beast altogether from composing. Performance is where you lack experience, and that's why I'm not putting you up there today."

Carlos didn't like what he was hearing.

"You're telling me to go deliver Sing-a-Grams?"

The proprietor shrugged again.

"If that's what it takes."

As the proprietor walked away, Carlos considered.

On the one hand... on the one hand, why not try it? He and Undine had enough money, enough that neither of them would ever have to work again, so the low wages he'd earn starting out wouldn't matter at all.

On the other hand, the indignity. The embarrassment--what if one of his fellow musicians saw him delivering Sing-a-Grams? His reputation--

I will need a stage name, he thought, not yet admitting to himself that he was really going to do this. A stage name, and I should probably make sure Undine is on board.

Thus was born Carlos Midnight.

2) Dick : not allowed to cook, can't tease Hera and Bruce about their relationship.

365 days of writing: day 198

Day 198: Simming

           Good afternoon, as it turns out Aunt Christel didn’t spend the night at our house. She and Poppy came back with a new mattress for Poppy’s bed and then she headed out. I was relieved but it still took me a little while to fall asleep. I woke up feeling a little groggy but I guess my body is still adjusting from the surgery. This morning Poppy and I watched an episode of Bachelorette and I still like it ok but I’m realizing it’s not a huge interest of mine to see all the drama going on in that show. I watched it with Poppy though and it was alright, at least this episode actually sent a guy I wanted to see go home away. I’m used to the opposite happening with reality TV shows because I guess they tend to keep dramatic people for ratings and it’s really an icky practice.

           Oh well, after that I watched some Youtube videos and then played Sims 4 for a few hours. My family’s little girl Gina became a toddler and I played through most of her toddlerhood. Her mother Hazel isn’t really the best mother though. I had to prompt her multiple times and watch her closely to ensure she was actually feeding and caring for her daughter. Whenever Franklin was home I’d prompt him to help since the stress of being home with her daughter all day was clearly getting to Hazel. She doesn’t have a job at the moment but I plan to get her one once Hazel is a child and no longer needs as much care. Franklin got promoted in his Astronaut career and is now a Cadet so he should be making a decent amount of money but since he’s on the Renaissance life time aspiration I’m sure he’ll eventually want to get a different job since this aspiration is sort of like Sims 3’s Jack of All Trades LTW. At least the fact that Hazel isn’t the most capable mother makes for some interesting gameplay

           After that I had lunch and Poppy came in from mowing the lawn to talk to me for a minute. Aunt Christel has invited us over to make home-made pizza and at first I didn’t really want to go because we have about five box subscription dinners we still have to make but Poppy offered to make one for Conner and I tomorrow. I guess she really wants me to come with her so I agreed but requested we get back relatively early tonight. She offered that we can aim to get home at 7 and was ok with that.

           After lunch I watched two episodes of Dragon Ball and I got to see a really short battle between Chichi and Goku. It seems she just needed to cool her temper and she did finally tell Goku who she was and what he’d promised her but Goku of course thought a bride was food. So yeah, I guess to his ears at the time it sounded like Chichi was asking him to cook her something I guess. As someone who knows a little Japanese I can say it’s really her fault for using the verb for “To make” because that’s often used for making food. If she used the verb for marriage he’d have no idea what she meant but at least then she could explain what the verb meant. Alas, it seemed they worked it out and Goku’s an honest man so even though he had no idea what he was agreeing to he assured her he’d keep his promise. Honestly my only issue with their relationship thus far is how it was set up but Dragon Ball isn’t a romance Anime so I don’t see any need to dwell on it beyond that.

             In the second episode, I watched I got to see Piccolo fight Krillin. I was a tad conflicted since I like both characters but considering Piccolo promised not to kill Krillin I was able to relax. The third round was Yamcha versus this character named Shen and well his strategy is to throw people off by acting like he’s not a very good martial artist and that he’s clumsy. Of course this resulted in a lot of slapstick humor that I’m not really a fan of. I especially have always hated crotch jokes. Yes, poor Yamcha ends up accidentally getting hit in the balls because this guy apparently also has a steel head (like Goku?). So yeah, didn’t enjoy this part of the episode so much. I don’t enjoy Yamcha or anyone really getting hurt in that region and then the whole crowd laughing at him. I hated this trend in Western Cartoons enough and it really gives me a sour taste in my mouth to see it in Anime.

             Oh well, that was just a small thing and I enjoyed the episodes overall. I’m writing this entry now since we’re going to head to Aunt Christel’s place in about an hour and we’ll probably be on the road for an hour as well. Tomorrow morning I’m going to take to my language partner after several weeks without contact and then my best bro will be over in the afternoon. As one more Anime-related note I’ve decided I’m going to drop Linebarrels of Iron for now. I’m not as patient as I thought I was and for the time being I’d rather get back to watching Anime that I want to continue and next month I might try a new Anime that one of the Youtubers I watched said he was looking forward to seeing. Alright, I’m going to go for now so I can get dressed and ready to go.
