Part of my working method for Sites of Memory is to visit friends and thus get a semi random spread of memorials. Sites of Memory looks at Britain and Germany’s response to WW1. The top image is a #Jewish cemetery in the #Bavarian countryside. The memorial is to the 11 lads who never came home to Germany. It’s very typical of German memorials, with individual headstones. The image below is a monument to the officers of the then fashionable #Brandenburg regiment and now sits next to a needle exchange and opposite the #Helmutnewton centre in #berlin. So I was watching Stagecoach the other night, Dir. John Ford, and the characters all ref. to American archetypes. So the dodgy banker who has run off with his customers money is telling everyone how awful America is and how it would only be better if there was a business man as president. Then he’s arrested because the sheriff just gets on with his job.
