Description

James Jebusa Shannon painted this work while he and his family were on holiday in Eastbourne. The woman was a flower girl who they met every morning on their way down to the beach. She agreed to sit for Shannon in her ordinary working clothes while nursing her baby. The artist’s daughter, Kitty, recalled that her father told the flower girl to come ‘exactly as you are: baby, basket of flowers, the white blouse with the big black spots and old battered straw hat’.

The Walls of Eastbourne & Travel Day - Eastbourne, England & Cardiff, Wales

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Eastbourne - the town is friendly and the architecture is beautiful on the homes in the area. However, we would be remiss if we didn't share some pictures of one of our favorite things - the stone walls that line the streets of Eastbourne. Here are a few of our favorites we spotted during our strolls around town:

Okay, enough said about Eastbourne! We took the train back to London and caught another train toward Cardiff - a lovely train ride through the country. We arrived at the train station in Cardiff and found that we had less than a 10-minute walk to our Airbnb! What a treat! Unfortunately, we had arrived before our scheduled check-in time. So we took a little walk and found a place to have lunch. It was a really beautiful old pub:

We also got a kick out of the menu, the diet advice on daily adult caloric intake was too funny:

We finished our lunch and walked along the River Taff to our Airbnb - life is good!
