Escrita y producida por Meaghan Oppenheimer (Queen America). Produce Emma Roberts (First Kill).
Con Michelle Ortiz (Mr. Mom) y Frankie Quinones (The Dress Up Gang). Producen Fred Armisen (Portlandia, Forever) y Jonathan Groff (How I Met Your Mother, Black-ish).
Amazon encarga The Lake, su primera serie original canadiense. Completan el reparto Jon Dore (How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)), Carolyn Scott, Natalie Lisinska (Orphan Black, Mary Kills People), Travis Nelson, Declan Whaley (Criminal Minds) y Terry Chen (The Expanse, Jessica Jones).
Escrita por Gonzalez y dirigida por Alfonso Gómez-Rejón (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, American Horror Story).
Producen Beaty, Whitehead y Laurence Fishburne (Black-ish).

The completely unnecessary news analysis
by Christopher Smart
June 9, 2020
BROTHER MITT: BLACK LIVES MATTER. OH MY HECK
Holy heck. Bratha Mitt Romney rocks! (Are we allowed to say that?) The Mittster joined the Washington D.C. protests last weekend, marching shoulder to shoulder with Americans demanding change. We shit you not. (There, we said it.) “We need to stand up and say, 'Black lives matter,'” Mitt declared. It just blew away the staff here at Smart Bomb. Even Wilson and the band sat up and rubbed their eyes. Yes, it really happened. We like this dude more and more all the time. As you will recall, because it's burned into your gray matter, Romney was the sole Republican senator who voted in favor of removing Tyrannical Trump from office after the House impeached him on Dec. 18, 2019 — a day that shall live in infamy. Of course, since then our man Mitt has been relegated to the GOP dog house. But hey, which would you rather get, fleas or mental illness and herpes from fanny kissing. Character doesn't fall too far from the old oak. Mitt's papa, George Romney, governor of Michigan, marched in Civil Rights protests in Detroit in the late 1960s. “Force alone will not eliminate riots,” old George said. “We must eliminate the problems from which they stem.” Amen and pass the spray paint.
BILL BARR HEADS FOR THE TALL GRASS
Looks like the U.S. attorney general is a little too clever for his own good.
Bill Barr, the Rasputin of the Trump White House, had a pretty cool idea — he'd send shock troops into Lafayette Square across from the White House without uniforms, badges or name tags. So Cool — who you gonna blame if some peaceful protesters get smashed and burned and hit with rubber bullets? Who needs secret police when you've got... well, secret police. But then, oops, protestors, pundits and even some Republicans (say it ain't so) began comparing Bill Barr's Blue Shirts to the Nazi SA Brown Shirts. And while the president was getting his back slapped by drooling sycophants in the Oval Office after his heroic photo-op with the Holy Bible in front of St. John's Episcopal Church, the more adroit Barr was slinking behind the drapes, all too willing to let Trump take the credit. Later, Barr took on the personage of Sergeant Shultz from Hogan's Heroes: “I know nothing. I know noting.” Or as he told the Associated Press: “[M]y attitude was get it done, but I didn’t say, ‘Go do it.’ ” Call it Catch 2020.
LEE AND STEWART AND THEATER OF THE ABSURD
The horse is out of the barn and the cat is totally out of the bag and everyone knows by now that Donald Trump is a disaster. But congressional Republicans, like Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Chris Stewart, pretend to know better. They aren't the tools of tragedy just because they won't call Trump out for his insidious lies and deeds. Oh, no. And just because Lee and Stewart stand by while Trump politicizes the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, The EPA and other American institutions doesn't mean they're useless apparatchiks acting out their oath to the Constitution as some kind of pious lip service. Oh, no. And when Lee and Stewart and their Republican colleagues eschew their role as a check on the executive, it doesn't mean they've sold their souls to Beelzebub. No, they're just playing the roles they've been assigned in Trump's Theater of the Absurd, where up is down and down is up and George Floyd is smiling down from heaven on Trump's wonderful leadership. And when they look in the mirror each morning, do Lee and Stewart see Shakespearean fools staring back at them? Oh, no. “The fool doth think he is wise.” (And you won't catch these “wise” men marching for Black Lives Matter. That isn't in the script.)
Post script — Well, hipsters and hipsterettes, we've survived another week of history. If you've been feeling the ground move, don't worry, it's not an earthquake, it's just reality shifting faster than usual. Even Wilson and the band know this is not a good time to drop acid — altering reality when it's like silly putty to begin with could send you off to a galaxy far, far away where no man has gone before. And like a manned mission to Mars, there may be no coming back — not that you'd want to. But listen, Trump won't be president forever. At some point  — hopefully sooner, rather than later — he'll be back as a TV host. Some pundits believe he'll create his own network were he'll be live every morning from his king size bed at Mar-A-Lago in red silk jammies and a Big Mac going apeshit about Obama, Hillary, Mitt Romney, Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, our allies, Meryl Streep, Colin Powell, Joe Scarborough... well, you get the picture. But here's the good news: his rants will be without consequence and you can reach over and turn the sonofabitch off knowing you are missing absolutely nothing.
OK, Wilson, tell the guys it's safe to come out of the bunker and play a little something that will get us through the next week of June In This Year of Our Lord 2020.
As I walk through this wicked world Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself, is all hope lost? Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?
And each time I feel like this inside, there's one thing I wanna know: What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?
(Peace, Love & Understanding — Elvis Costello)

Nov 8, 2022 election
oh god i don’t have the energy to do the whole shebang this time
but i guess i’m doing it anyways
Notes on the Saratoga City Council Candidate Forum:
- oh dear there’s only 3 qualified candidates out of the 5 this year and two are old timers Yan Zhao and Chuck Page, so no point discussing them- they’re the same as always and if you don’t know them by now, just ask around
- Belal Aftab is the only candidate worth discussing, and I have to say, I was surprised at how well-considered and well-spoken his approaches to the issues were. Last election I was skeptical about his motivation for coming into local politics, but after this year’s forum I feel pretty sure that he’s acting out of his heart, not pure ambition. I’m conflicted still because I don’t think his and my political perspectives line up, but I do think he might be a reasonable person to have around. At the very least he isn’t as much of a political old-timer as Chuck Page and Yan Zhao. Hmm.
- ok, the moderator is asking some great questions: she asked about Measure C (I kinda want to know more about everyone’s reasoning on that actually, cause it seemed straightforward to me) and also asked each candidate to share one thing that most people don’t know about them- some fun answers!
VERDICT: hmm I guess I’m down to give Belal Aftab a chance this year. If pickings weren’t slim this year then I don’t know if he’d make the cut for my priority list, but hey you have to pick from the options you get sometimes
Notes on the Sheriff Candidate Forum:
- ok so the impression I’m getting is that Kevin Jensen is the long-time SCC Sheriff’s Office member who says he was pushing against the corruption from the inside, while Bob Jonsen has worked in police depts of different cities and is coming in from outside the Sheriff’s Office? Both of them are leaning on the “I’m gonna make the dept. change” angle, cause well, the dept. is under corruption charges yet again right? I haven’t even been paying attention- that office is constantly turning over because of corruption and mismanagement charges so I just assume it’s always in turmoil I guess
- hmm, I can’t really tell which candidate is better from this forum; let’s see if my contacts have any intel [note: I prob asked too late and they’re not gonna get back to me in time :/]
VERDICT: uhhhhhhhhhhhhh I guess I liked Kevin Jensen’s passion for wanting to improve conditions for everyone, including ppl in prison. I don’t think he can do it, cause I think the whole institution of the sheriff’s office and the criminal system is just too corrupt and messed up, but he seems to want to attempt it. Eh, I don’t have faith in this office but whatever
never mind, a source I trust said Bob Jonsen so I’m gonna go with that.
Notes on LGSUSD Board Candidate Forum:
- yooo it’s Eleanor Yick again, my fav moderator! oh wait she’s just introducing the moderator for today, damn. well I guess we need new blood too
- only Misty Davies, Alex Shultz, and David Guidry are here, but the other two sent statements
- Steve Chen’s statement...did not tell me much. He was a math teacher at LG and before that was a long-time tech guy.
- oh and Chris Miller also sent one too. He was on the LGUSD board from 2004-2012, was on oversight and budget committees for the high school district, and also has been a part of various other committees (including one for mental health needs of students)- I’d like to hear more about this. He’s currently a teacher at a private high school. He wants to see more focus on mental wellness of students, staff, and faculty; better communication with broader community; teacher recruitment and retaining, including possibility of teacher housing; research-based approach to reduce substance use among students. Huh, those are all pretty excellent talking points- I will check out his website. [And the website was mostly the same points tho it did talk about his origins in local politics going back to being a teen in LG]
- Alex Shultz is a retired LG teacher- has experience from being a teacher/parent at LG. I don’t have a strong sense of what skills he brings to the table?
- David Guidry is the only incumbent and he’s clearly well aware of the job responsibilities. He’s kinda dry, not very inspiring, but he seems very responsible. He’s a retired software dude.
- Misty Davies is a project manager and is the only one with kids currently in the district. She’s been involved in school leadership as a volunteer. She speaks well and seems to have the strongest leadership vibes out of the three here.
- there’s a new superintendent apparently, and apparently they come from a bigger district in SF so there’s talk about how the board is going to manage them
**Ok I abandoned the school board candidate forum and looked at the Saratoga Falcon’s reporting instead- found some juicy tidbits but I don’t have time to write them up here! so let’s just go with these candidates:
VERDICT: Chris Miller and Misty Davies for their stances on mental health (which is my #1 concern for LGSUSD teens), and I guess David Guidry for his functional skills. Alex Shultz and Scott Chen just didn’t have anything that really stood out to me as helpful.

"The Great Divide" by Scott Stapp
Tumblr media
The Great Divide is the fourth studio album by American singer Scott Stapp, released on November 21, 2015 by Napalm Records. The album was produced by Stapp and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge.
The album was preceded by the release of the lead single, "No Surrender".
Critical reception
The Song received mixed reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 54, based on 5 reviews.
AllMusic's Neil Z. Yeung gave the album 2.5 out of 5 stars, writing that "Stapp's fourth album is a return to basics, albeit with modern production values. The Great Divide is a collection of 12 anthemic rockers that touch on familiar topics like faith, love, and loss, all delivered with the earnestness and conviction that has defined the former Creed frontman's solo career."
In a positive review, Louder Sound's Spencer Kaufman praised the album, writing that "The Great Divide is the sound of a man who has been through hell and back, and come out the other side a better person for it. Scott Stapp has made the best album of his solo career, and it's one that will resonate with fans old and new."
However, not all reviews were positive. Alternative Press' Brian Shultz gave the album 2 out of 5 stars, writing that "The Great Divide is a largely uninspired, by-the-numbers affair, with the only thing really distinguishing it from the rest of Stapp's catalog being its sonically polished sheen."
