Elle's No Surrender 2024 Predictions!
Prediction: Maclin won last night, so my guess is Speedball Mountain prevails and it leads to a post match brawl led by Maclin Want: Speedball Mountain
Prediction: I don't know. I expected Shelley's team to win last night since he is probably losing tonight, but then they lost, so maybe Kushi and Kevin get the win here? Want: Kushi and Kevin because if they lose I'll get even more false hope that Shelley pulls off the win tonight
Prediction: Decay just won those, so I'm guessing they retain. Want: MK Ultra
Prediction: This could really go either way, but I'll say Kon because this is supposed to be part of his big breakout as his own guy instead of Deaner's guy. Want: P! C! O!
Prediction: Frankie turned heel for this so I feel like he'll win. Want: Frankie is my evil uncle and I support his wrongs.
Prediction: Josh is very much The Guy at Impact and doesn't lose often, so I'm guessing he wins here. Want: I loved the Vaudevillains, so Gotch wresting at the company the Drama King is a commenter for fills me with delight, and I want him to win, but even if he loses, I hope he sticks around!
Prediction: I'm so scared. Given irl company things lately, I'm scared that ABC drop and then leave. Idk what's going to happen here and I'm too nervous to analyze what's most likely to happen. Want: You know

Impact Wrestling Review: January 5th, 2023
This is the first episode of Impact in the new year, and (barring the ending) it was overall a very awesome show! Here are my thoughts:
Masha Slamovich vs Taylor Wilde was a pretty good/solid opener, Deonna was great on commentary and the surprise ending with the rollup was good. Masha absolutely wrecking the security guard at the end of it was a nice touch as well.
A great promo by Sami Callihan, I'm interested to see what happens between him and The Design.
A good promo by Rich Swann, should be a good match at Hard To Kill.
Black Taurus vs Anthony Greene was a great, fast paced match; Crazzy Steve continues to rule with his pre-match promos and Destination Hellhole is a SICK finisher.
Kenny King destroying five people in a gym was awesome, and so was Mike Bailey's response. Very intense stuff leading into their match at HTK.
Ernest R. Anthony vs Jonathan Gresham was my Match of the Night, it was short but very entertaining. Loved all the creative ways Gresham worked the leg, and him winning via pinfall WITH a submission applied was a great finish.
Intrigued to see what happens with Gisele and Steelz/Evans, they could be the right team to feud long term with the Death Dollz.
Awesome promo by Deaner, hyped for next week.
Nice video package for Josh Alexander.
An okay promo from Moose, and an AMAZING parody from Joe Hendry. I'm glad to see Impact is letting him do his song parodies now.
Really nice retrospective for Mickie James, I'm impressed that they let her acknowledge WWE.
Really nice tribute video for Don West, I wasn't watching when he was on commentary but I can tell he was amazing.
Matt Cardona vs Chris Sabin was a fast paced, hard hitting, hype match. Commentary arguing over an "accidental armdrag" was hilarious, the Reboot getting countered into Cardona going over the top was absolutely hype, and the Cradleshock is a hype finisher.
Then, sadly there came the ending of the show. Rehwoldt protecting Hannifan from Bully was pretty nice, but why is Scott D'Amore of all people coming out to make the save? I really don't like D'Amore as a good guy, the whole ending segment kinda dragged on. Not a great way to cap off the show, but didn't detract too much from the awesomeness of everything else.
Overall it was an awesome show, and one I can definitely recommend.

The Toy Boyz (Matt Cardona and Brian Myers) vs. The Bollywood Boyz (Gurv Sihra and Harv Sihra) - Gurv Sihra went for a superplex on Matt Cardona, but Cardona pushed him off and Gurv landed face first on the mat. Brian Myers with a clothesline on Gurv followed by the Radio Silence off the second rope from Cardona and the three count. Winners: The Toy Boyz

The Butcher, The Blade, and The Bunny vs. Nick Aldis, Chris Adonis, and Jordynne Grace (with Mickie James) - Chris Adonis with a spinebuster on The Butcher and Nick Aldis went to apply the Texas Cloverleaf but it was broken up by The Blade. The Blade suplexed Aldis into a powerbomb from The Butcher who stacked Aldis up for the three count. Winners: The Butcher, The Blade, and The Bunny

Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh vs. Time Machine (Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, and KUSHIDA) - KUSHIDA applied the hoverboard lock to Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt brandished his pencil and tried to make the save, but a superkick from Shelley combined with an enzuigiri from Sabin took him out. Satnam Singh entered the ring with a double chokeslam on Shelley and Sabin. KUSHIDA wrenched away at the hoverboard lock, but Satnam Singh goozled KUSHIDA and lifted up both KUSHIDA and Jay Lethal and chokeslammed KUSHIDA with Lethal landing on top and getting the pinfall. Winners: Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh
- In light of recent controversies and previous allegations against various pro-wrestling ring announcers, CORE’s new AI generated pro-wrestling ring announcer named Good Time Charlie made their debut. Good Time Charlie explained the rules of the Gauntlet For The Global Force Gold which included ninety second intervals and the last two competitors will immediately face off in a singles match that will be contested under traditional pro-wrestling rules.

LA Park
- LA Park cracked a steel chair over Hammerstone's head and peppered him with rights and lefts. LA Park whacked Hammerstone a few more times with the chair before tossing him over the top rope. Alexander Hammerstone has been eliminated.

Jacob Fatu
- Fatu and Park went back and forth with some hard hitting attacks especially once Fatu got the chair away from Park.

- Juicy and Fatu worked over Park together. A superkick from Fatu had Park teetering over the top rope, but he managed to stay in the ring for now.

- Irie got the better of Jacob Fatu in a strike exchange until Juicy Finau attacked Irie from behind. The two turned their attention to Irie and LA Park recovered in the corner.

- Bandit tried to come to Irie's aid, but instead found the tandem attack of Finau and Fatu turned in their direction. Irie tried to dump Park to the outside as Finau and Fatu toyed with Bandit.

Buff Bagwell
- Kidd Bandit thought their savior had arrived, embracing Buff Bagwell and thanking Buff for all the support and advice he gave online. A very confused Buff Bagwell who clearly had no idea who Kidd Bandit is shrugged and kicked Bandit in the stomach and climbed to the second rope and hit the Blockbuster before tossing Bandit over the top rope and to the floor. Kidd Bandit has been eliminated.

- One half of the Stoner Brothers and former NXT prospect Ricky Stoner squared off with Shigehiro Irie, who quickly got the better of him. Meanwhile Fatu and Finau stomped away at LA Park while Buff Bagwell flexed.

- The other half of the Stoner Brothers and also a former NXT prospect Scotty Stoner joined the fray and went to town on Irie with his brother.

- Big Poppa Pump seemed less than amused by the Stoner Brothers and after dropping both of them on their skulls with Steiner Screwdrivers, Ricky and Scotty Stoner both jumped over the top rope and eliminated themselves. Ricky Stoner has been eliminated. Scotty Stoner has been eliminated.

Act Yasukawa
- An inspiring story of overcoming obstacles, Act Yasukawa returned from wrestling after years away following a brutal beating and made the trip over for Mania Weekend. Yasukawa and Irie worked together to eliminate Buff Bagwell. Buff Bagwell has been eliminated.

Athena
- Athena went right after Act Yasukawa, pummeling her face with forearm strikes and stomps. Athena picked Yasukawa up for a suplex and chucked her over the top rope to the floor. LA Park seemed impressed by Athena's vicious streak and the two worked together to battle Fatu and Juicy Finau. Act Yasukawa has been eliminated.

JTG
- JTG brings a lot of Mania Weekend battle royal experience to the match as the winner of Faye Jackson’s 2021 Grey Sweatpants Battle Royal presented by Allie Kat’s Real Hot Girl Shit. JTG and Irie worked together to nearly eliminate Scott Steiner, but Steiner was able to stay alive.

Slapnuts
- A mysterious masked man by the name of Slapnuts entered the match and quickly made an impact. He first helped Irie and JTG eliminate Scott Steiner before dumping Irie out of the match too. Meanwhile, realizing Fatu and Finau were getting the better of things, Athena turned on LA Park and tossed him over the top and kept her distance from Fatu and Finau. Scott Steiner has been eliminated. Shigehiro Irie has been eliminated. LA Park has been eliminated.

Cheerleader Melissa
- The CORE original made a surprise in-ring appearance and was immediately attacked from behind by Athena. Athena may have underestimated Melissa when she slipped behind Athena on a suplex attempt and dropkicked her in the back sending Athena over the top and to the outside. Athena has been eliminated.

Chris Brookes
- Brookes and Slapnuts worked together to clear out the ring, dumping JTG and Cheerleader Melissa in no time. Juicy Finau charged at Brookes, but Brookes pulled down the top rope as Slapnuts pushed Finau from behind and tumbling out of the ring. JTG has been eliminated. Cheerleader Melissa has been eliminated. Juicy Finau has been eliminated.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Your final entrant...
The Springbreaker
- Another mysterious masked wrestler entered the Gauntlet, but Chris Brookes was more focused on Jacob Fatu and encouraged Slapnuts to help him eliminate Fatu, but as soon as Brookes started to lead the way Slapnuts grabbed him from behind and tossed Brookes over the top rope. Fatu floored The Springbreaker with a superkick, but getting off balance on one leg gave Slapnuts an opening and he muscles Fatu to the floor. Chris Brookes has been eliminated. Jacob Fatu has been eliminated.
Final Two: Slapnuts and The Springbreaker
- Before a referee could enter the ring for the Gauntlet Final, Slapnuts ripped off The Springbreaker's balaclava to reveal Allie Katch. Clearly amused at her identity, Slapnuts removed his own mask to reveal Shane Haste.
Match #6 Gauntlet For The Global Force Gold Final - Winner Receives 100 Karatbars of Global Force Gold!
"Slapnuts" Shane Haste vs. Allie Katch - Shane Haste seemed to be delighting in inflicting pain on Allie Katch. Haste brought Allie to the apron, lifted her into fireman's carry position, and then chokeslammed her from the apron to the floor. As Haste went back into the ring, he didn't see actor Paul Walter Hauser appear in the crowd and pass Allie his 2023 Critics' Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Movie or Mini-series. Allie pulled herself up to the apron, but when Haste moved in for the kill she cracked him over the head with the Critics' Choice Award. Allie got the stunned Haste up for a piledriver and made the cover to win the Gauntlet For The Global Force Gold! Winner: Allie Katch
- As the bell rung, Jeff Jarrett was already in the ring. Jarrett got on the microphone and congratulated Allie, who was still quite out of it and could only get up to her knees, and said he respected her tenacity and wanted to hand deliver her 1000 Karatbars of Global Force Gold. Jarrett said he's not sure if Allie looked up the exchange rate, but that those 1000 Karatbars are currently worth somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.7 cents. Jarrett said he was feeling generous tonight and will happily round that up to an even three cents and smashed a guitar of Allie's head. Jarrett placed a penny over each of Allie's eyes and one in the middle of her forehead. Jarrett then called out Effy for their main event re-match right now.
Match #7 Jarrett vs. Effy II
Jeff Jarrett vs. Effy - Jarrett and Effy brawled through the Pico Union Project and back into the ring where Effy appeared to have the upper hand. Effy hit the TKO on Jarrett and then locked in his camel clutch style dragon sleeper. Jarrett fought for the ropes but was trapped in the center of the ring. Effy would finally have his revenge, that is if Sonjay Dutt hadn't passed his pencil to Jeff Jarrett and Jarrett didn't stab it into the thigh of Effy. Now free, Jarrett smashed a guitar over Effy's head and gave him The Stroke with the guitar still around Effy's head...but Effy kicked out at two! Jarrett laid another guitar in the middle of the ring and gave Effy The Stroke face first into the guitar, which shattered on impact, and made the cover and got the three count. Winner: Jeff Jarrett

Filling The Missing Piece
Pairing: Alex Shelley x Fem Reader
Summary: Being a part of the original Motor City Machine Guns, the reader was taken out of wrestling for good when she suffered a career-ending injury. Still friends with Chris and Alex, Alex vents to her about their upcoming match and misses her news. Holding it off, she waits for the right time, coming to show because of a gut feeling that was right and revealing to everyone that she's cleared to wrestle again and after reuniting with Chris and Alex, she and Alex connect like never before…

"Hey you," My face always lit up whenever Alex called or FaceTimed me. He was in the airport, not looking at the phone but still talking:
"Hey! Just wanted to let you know that I made it."
"Good," I smiled, sitting on the couch and asking, "Ready for your big night?"
"Won't lie, Y/N. This is gonna be rough for me."
A long time ago, I was actually a part of the Motor City Machine Guns. Unfortunately for me, I broke my neck and it put me out of wrestling for good.
Alex and Chris have been through so much, still keeping in touch with me, but it just wasn't the same. Now that they were facing each other, it wasn't the first time, but it still always hit the feelings and I knew this was going to be hard on both of them.
"I know," I sighed, then tried to brighten his mood, "But hey, you guys can move past this. You're like brothers and that doesn't have to change. Also, I got-"
I was going to deliver some huge news to Alex. He's been my best friend for ages, so I felt that he deserved to know first, but he really needed to vent about all of this and continued past me:
"I just don't get why Chris can't understand like, he's got to be world champion. I haven't and I deserve this."
He went on a little about work, how things seemed weird, certain rivalries going on, and while listening, it put this suspicious feeling in my gut.
"But anyway, enough about me," Alex let out, looking to the camera excitedly, "Sorry about cutting you off. What were you gonna say? You got some news?"
"Yeah," I tried to play off and smile, "My realty business is officially in the works and I'm about to make loads of money."
"Get that money girl," Alex laughed along with me, keeping some small talk going till his ride got there and he had to get off the phone.
Once Alex hung up, I sat and thought deeply about everything. That feeling in my gut, some things Chris has told me recently too. Something was going to happen after their match and it wasn't good.
There was one more night till their match and booking a flight for the morning and the night before, I spent packing, digging deep in my closet, and pulling out something I haven't worn in a long time.
My original Motor City Machine Guns jacket and the gloves to match.
At the show, I knew some people who helped me get in and I sat in the crowd pretending to be a fan. By the time Alex and Chris's match came around, my heart rate was through the rough.
Bouncing my leg the whole time, they kept me on the edge of my seat. Fighting all around the ring, exchanging blow after blow and just eating it, reversing out of submissions, hitting each other with their finishers, and kicking out right before three.
Truth be told, I had no clue who was going to win this, but in the end, Alex picked up the victory. I was happy for him because he truly deserved a title shot.
It was obvious though how hard that match was for him, Chris showing that emotion too and before either of them could even get up off of the mat, Deaner and Joe Doering came out and started jumping them.
I knew something like this was going to happen and the crowd became confused when I ran straight into the ring with my hoodie on, swinging a chair as hard as I could, going straight for headshots and when they all saw the Motor City Machine Guns wording on the back of my jacket. They all lost their minds.
My adrenaline was going so fast that I couldn't feel anything, I was moving so quickly and apparently swinging super hard because, after so many shots, Alex and Chris finally picked themselves up, and Deaner and Doering made a run for it.
"Ain't so tough now, huh big boys?!"
God I missed this feeling, still wanted to fight, but with my back turned, I heard behind me:
"Y/N?"
Turning my head to see Chris on his feet, holding his stomach and tears in his eyes. Alex was clinging to the ropes in complete disbelief, also scanning his thoughts and the look in his eyes explained to me that he realized that this is what I was going to tell him yesterday on the phone.
That I was back. That I was cleared to wrestle again after all this time.

"You guys don't know how much I missed this," I sniffled, trying to pull myself together, giggling at Chris's disbelief, holding my head:
"Your neck's good? You're really cleared?"
His eyes were a little red already and as I nodded, my attention turned to Alex and predicted:
"That's what you were going to tell me, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, it was," I wiped at my eyes, and to ease the tears, I made us all laugh, "But I'm glad I did it this way. You should've seen your faces."
"Leave us alone," Chris teased, ruffling my hair into a mess and Alex just hugged me again, swaying softly:
"I'm so glad you're back, Y/N. I love you."
"So much," Chris added in, smiling while hugging me one last time.
After the show, it was just like old times. We got to the hotel and I got the chance to show them all the doctor's clearances, that I planned on wrestling in Impact. We got lost in thinking of plans for the future.
It was so much fun and by the time all the lights went out and we planned on going to sleep, I had one of the two beds to myself and I was just staring at the ceiling.
The crowd's reaction to me rushing into the ring kept playing in my head, the way my blood was running, how I felt invincible. I'd never been happier in my life.
Wrestling was snatched away from me and it felt good to yank it back to me. It took a long time, but better late than never.
I couldn't stop smiling, my head turning as there was a shift in the bed Chris and Alex were sharing. Chris was snoring away, but Alex was on his side and smiling at me, still awake.
Scooting over in my bed, I fixed the blankets and patted the empty spot softly for him. Crawling out of their bed as smoothly as he could, he tipped toed over and slid right into mine, whispering:
"Can't sleep?"
"No, my heart's still pumping. I just feel like I'm living a dream," I whispered back.
"I believe it," He smiled, "I'm so proud of you. For not only getting yourself back into good shape but never giving up on getting back in the ring."
Touched by his words, I scooted closer and hugged him, getting teary again, "I missed all of this so much. The traveling, seeing arenas, being in that ring, and just cutting loose. Hell, even the fans that scream and hound me like when I had that wardrobe malfunction that one time."
"I'll never forget that," He giggled softly, rubbing my back as he held me in his arms, "Can't wait to make more memories. You plan on going for the women's title so we can be champs together.?"
"Of course, I'm going for that title," I smiled up at him, "I never lost it and you know that I'm going to kick ass like never before."
He just smiled at me and I could see in his eyes that he truly was proud of me, happy to have me here with him, having a rough night turned out to be the best one.
"When you broke your neck, thinking back on it, it made me realize something. It made me realize that you have to live in the now because you don't know how crazy things can change in an instant," Alex whispered, looking down for a moment, "I don't want to waste any more time or any more precious moments."
"What do you mean?" I tilted his head up to look him in the eyes, feeling how deeper he was breathing, spitting out:
"When I told you that I loved you earlier, you know how I meant it, right?"
"Alex-" Tears started running down my cheeks and when he wiped them away with his thumb, I knew what he meant and just how much he meant it, lips coming down to mine and whispering against them:
"I love you, Y/N."
I need a moment to feel his lips against mine and it felt so right. Alex was that one person who was there for me, even more so and closer than Chris.

Slammiversary preview
This is Impact's 19th anniversary show, although they didn't start using this name until the 3rd anniversary, and now they always hold it a month after the actual anniversary date. For the first time since March 2020, Impact will have fans at the show, but on a limited basis. So I would expect maybe 50-100 people spaced pretty far apart.
The show airs live tonight on Fite.tv. The pre-show is free and begins at 7pm EDT; the main show is $39.99 and starts at 8pm EDT.
Kenny Omega vs. Sami Callihan - Callihan is challenging for the Impact men's world title, which is represented by two of the four belts that Omega currently holds. The other two, the AEW and AAA men's world titles, are not at stake. This is billed as "no DQ match" which ought to mean that the winner gets to go to Dairy Queen but probably means can't be disqualified.
Omega and his henchmen interfered in a Callihan vs. Moose match on June 3, causing Callihan to win by disqualification. Since Moose was the #1 contender at the time, officials considered adding Sami to the Omega vs. Moose match on June 12, but ultimately they decided to book the winner to face Callihan here. The storyline is that Omega's manager Don Callis keeps arguing that Callihan is too reckless and unprofessional to be in a world title match, but we all know he's really just worried that Sami could hurt Omega real bad and win the title.
If it was me, I'd have done Omega-Callihan last month to set up Omega-Moose here. (Moose's contract negotiations may have made that impractical.) I don't buy Sami as the big destination for one of the biggest Impact shows of the year. I want to be interested in Omega trying to figure out how to deal with a misfit deathmatch guy. But Sami comes across more like a guy playing a misfit deathmatch guy. I mean, I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley, but I'd rather do that than listen to his corny supervillain speeches or look at his Roman Reigns cosplay.
At this point I'm seriously wondering where they're going with Omega invading Impact, so I'm willing to believe they could wrap it up any day now and get the title off of him. Omega has to drop the belt to somebody, and I can see Impact picking Callihan, even if I'd pick somebody else. Even so, I still want to think there's a long-term plan in place, and that the blowoff won't come until at least the October pay-per-view. So I'm expecting this match will just come down to another wave of run-ins and shenanigans so Omega can retain.
Ultimate X match - This is a six-way match for Josh Alexander's Impact X division championship. The ring will be set up with four columns at each corner, which support either cables or scaffolding that cross overhead like a giant "X." The title belt will be hung from the center, and the first participant to pull it down will be the winner and champion. So it's like a ladder match, but there are no ladders.
Impact introduced this as one of their signature match types back in 2003, and they've always been rather proud of it. Personally I have trouble getting into it, since all the spots revolve around falling off of things, and all the "near-falls" involve slowly inching across a high-wire or a scaffold.
The six participants are: Josh Alexander, Petey Williams, Trey Miguel, Ace Austin, Rohit Raju, and Chris Bey. The storyline is that Austin and Raju have formed an alliance, and since no one can be disqualified they plan to gang up on the competition with their respective henchmen (Madman Fulton and Shera). Alexander, Williams, and Miguel are trying to stick together to oppose this, and Bey has reluctantly sided with them.
Alexander recently won a sixty-minute iron man match to add to his credentials as a dominant champion, so in theory this match is meant to secure his legacy as an all-time great in the division. Problem is, if he wins he's effectively cleaned out the division, and if he loses it's yet another situation where the champion didn't get pinned to lose the X title, setting up yet another multi-man X title match. Nevertheless, I'd much, much rather keep the belt on Alexander and have him move on to new business (maybe against a recent WWE castoff), so I guess I'm rooting for him to win.
Deonna Purrazzo vs. ? - Purrazzo is scheduled to defend the women's title against a mystery opponent who won't be revealed until right before the match starts. The storyline is that Purrazzo has cleaned out the division (a trope that's getting worn very thin in pro wrestling these days), so she's gotten overconfident, and Gail Kim set this up to truly put her to the test. They haven't said the opponent can't be Kim herself, although Kim strongly suggested that it won't be.
WWE has released a number of women over the past few months, and any of them could potentially be the challenger. Impact is probably counting on fans to jump to that conclusion. By not naming the challenger, Impact encourages fans to infer that she's currently under a WWE non-compete clause that won't expire until right before the show. Of course, none of us can be certain about those non-compete clauses, or which wrestlers have negotiated to waive them. We also can't be assured that the mystery opponent must be a WWE name; it could easily just be someone like ODB coming in for a cup of coffee.
Matches like this tend to be trouble for long-running champions. The most famous example would be when the Ultimate Warrior shocked the Honky Tonk Man in 1989. It won't help Purrazzo that she's cut ties with her cronies, Kimber Lee and Susan, so she won't have them ready to interfere if she gets in trouble. However, Purrazzo is already booked to defend the title in a champion vs. champion match on August 14, so it's hard to believe she'll drop the belt ahead of that.
Four-way tag team match - This is for the Impact men's tag team title, currently held by Violent By Design. Typically in a match like this, members of two teams start in the ring, while everyone else stands in their assigned corner. The legal wrestlers in the ring can tag in anyone in any corner, whether it's their own partner or an opponent. The first wrestler to score a fall on any opponent wins the match and the championship for his team.
The championship is currently held by Violent By Design: Rhino, Joe Doering, Deaner, and Eric Young. In the tradition of the "Freebird Rule," you get booked to wrestle the team, not any specific individuals, so then the team gets to choose which members will actually be in the match. Young has been sidelined with a knee injury so I'm pretty sure VBD's options are limited to Rhino, Doering, and Deaner. But they could always bring in a new member.
There will be three other teams in the match, but only two have been confirmed: Rich Swann & Willie Mack and Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson. When the match was first announced, the team of TJP & Fallah Baah was supposed to be in it. However, we found out yesterday that TJP is unable to do the match for some reason. Impact said the match will still involve four teams, but didn't say that Baah will get another partner. So it's possible Baah has also been pulled from the match, and both guys in the fourth team could be a surprise.
The build for this match felt like a clusterfuck. VBD and Gallows/Anderson are the top teams, but they're all heels, so some babyface teams had to get thrown together, and then all of it is dumped into one match until an actual story direction emerges. The only cool outcome I see is if Fallah Baah really does step aside and a whole new team debuts. But they could just as easily stick Johnny Swinger and Hernandez in there, so I shouldn't get my hopes up. The safe bet is the champs retain.
Moose vs. Chris Sabin - Moose has been a top heel for a while, but he kind of went babyface a little in his program with Kenny Omega. With that out of the way, he threw a tantrum about losing to Omega to remind us he's still a heel, until Sabin chased him off. Without Alex Shelley or James Storm to team with, Sabin hasn't had much to do, so now he's in a match that could re-establish him as a singles guy.
I assume the winner of this match get into the hunt for the world title, perhaps at whatever big show they do in August. That sort of favors Sabin, although I can't totally count out Moose. Moose feels like he's headed for bigger things in Impact, and a convincing win over a former Impact world champion here would get him off to a good start. I guess I've talked myself into picking Moose to win.
Eddie Edwards vs. W. Morrissey - Morrissey (formerly Big Cass in WWE) is on a roll as the latest Mean Guy to beat everybody up in Impact. Edwards, a former world champion in Impact and ROH, is his toughest competition since he got here. I don't see Edwards winning unless they have big plans for him. And I suppose they might have big plans for Eddie, but big plans are clearly in progress for Morrissey. I'm certain this is just a glorified squash match to put Morrissey over.
Matt Cardona & ? vs. Tenille Dashwood & Brian Myers - Cardona and Myers were the team of Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins in WWE, but they've been feuding since they got to Impact. I'd actually forgotten that Dashwood and Cardona were dating about five or six years ago, which would maybe explain why she helped Myers beat down Cardona recently. So now we've got this mixed tag team match. Cardona has to find a woman to be his partner, but we don't know who it will be.
The minute they announced this match, they started teasing the mystery woman would be Cardona's fiancée, Chelsea Green. I suspect that tease was taped before Green showed up at the ROH pay-per-view saying she wasn't medically cleared in Maryland and that she would wrestle for ROH this summer. Of course, none of that necessarily means she can't wrestle for Impact with a wrist injury in Tennessee. But I think the tease is a deliberate misdirection. Dashwood has been trying to drive a wedge between Rachael Ellering and Jordynne Grace, so either of them might make sense in this spot.
If the mystery partner is any good, I think she has to get the win here. But even if Impact has picked up some hot free agents, I don't expect many of them to actually wrestle on this show. So it could be a deal where they reveal Green is in the company, Green swerves us by introducing (for example) Alisha Edwards as the partner, and the babyfaces just lose.
Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz vs. Rosemary & Havok - This is booked for the pre-show. Fire 'N' Flava (Hogan & Steelz) are defending the Impact women's tag team championship. As I recall, Rosemary and Taya Valkyrie feuded with Havok and Neveah a few months back over some spooky shit involving Rosemary and Havok. Anyway, Valkyrie and Neveah left the company, so I guess the spooky sides of those teams have put aside their differences. You could do some fun things with Rosemary and Havok as champs, but I don't know why you'd book the title change on a pre-show. So I think Hogan and Steelz retain, and this storyline will continue for a while longer.
