Day 4 - Real-life Captain America

Indecision resulted in a second cake testing appointment for Nancy and Robin's big day, and poorly-timed work emergencies resulted in them having to miss it, until—

"You and Eddie can go!" She sighed at the incredulous look Steve gave. "They're all winners, it doesn't matter what you choose."

So there he and Eddie were in front of a spread of thick cake slices.

"Raspberry? No."

"Nancy loves raspberry."

"Nancy should've been here." Eddie slid the plate away, smirking at the snort Steve gave. "What do we even look for? Moistness? Sturdiness?"

"Jesus, stop poking it, they've already done that," Steve chuckled and scooped a piece onto his fork, offering, "We eat it."

Eddie leaned forward, letting the fork slide into his mouth and hummed at the delicate decadence of the vanilla cake with cream cheese icing.

"Good?"

Eddie hummed through a nod. "Really good. I'd eat a whole cake of that."

"That's promising," Steve said, taking his own bite. Eddie tracked his movent with glittering eyes as Steve pulled the clean fork from his lips. "Definitely a contender."

Steve put the plate not next to the raspberry.

They moved on to the lemon with buttercream, an almond with a raspberry filling that offended Eddie to his core, and then a peach with cream cheese icing before, finally, getting to the chocolate.

"Ohhh, this is it," Steve all but moaned.

"Yeah?" Eddie asked with a bit more color on his cheeks. "What about now?"

Steve took the piece offered from Eddie's fingers with a grin, letting the chocolate on his tongue swirl through him under the chocolate of Eddie's watching eyes.

"Think it's better like that?" Steve fed Eddie a piece of his own, brushing a crumb off Eddie's bottom lip with a lingering touch.

"Yeah." Eddie looked so fond as Steve licked some icing from his fingertip. "You're my favorite flavor."

I’m currently painting a wall in my apartment and I was bored and I was just thinking. If there would be some renovation in the Byers house, the whole chosen family trope would be happening there as everyone would be so eager to help. And Eddie would totally paint some shit like ‘S+E’ on the wall. And Joyce would be like ‘Oh sweetheart, I’m afraid we can’t keep it’ and Eddie would be all bashful smiling while Steve blushing hysterically.

Hank McCoy's entries from Heroic Age: X-Men, and Heroic Age: Heroes, a supplementary book of in-universe files about the state of the Marvel Universe in 2010. Written by Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, there are some fun tidbits to note here:

Hank's affiliations are Avengers, X-Men . . . and Wonder Man. Hmm.

Hank's quote from the X-Men handbook comes from X-Men: Endangered Species, after he attended the funeral of one of the last remaining 198 mutants left on Earth after the Decimation.

Maxed out Conscience and Wisdom kinda makes me want to break out into braying laughter. Is this book for fans or for writers? I feel like writers might want to read this.

I like that Steve points out that Hank is a silly goof, especially considering how you often go back and read 70s Avengers and Steve is just an asshole to Hank because he isn't all that serious about his work. I guess Steve only really learned to appreciate Hank's levity when he was gone, or as they grew older.
