Alaska & Trish . . . Alaska was rescued by a compassionate 13 year old who overheard a customer talking about turning his newly purchased baby chickens into nuggets. She asked the man to spare the life of this chicken so that they may live at a sanctuary, and so the man agreed. . . . . #kindnessmatters #chickens #chickennuggets #chickenwings #loveoneanother# #savetheanimals #animalrights #stopspeciesism #loveanimals #animalsarefriendsnotfood #sentientbeings #crueltyfree #veganlife #herbivore #vegano #instavegan #plantpower #veganaf #veganismo #instavegan #ig_cameras_united #nikonphotographers #justgoshoot #nikonanimals #maketheconnection #helpanimals #chooseveg #dontturnaway #fortheanimals 🌱 (at Trew Love Rescue & Sanctuary)

@Regranned from @thehumaneleague - The harsh realities of factory farming. They don’t have a choice. We do. #chooseveg 🌱 TheGreenPlate.com 🐥 📽: @andrewskowron - #regrann #FacndustrialFarming & #IndustrialFarming have proven to be a bust. They're unhealthy and cruel and add to climate change and bio destruction. I haven't been able to continue this path for several reasons. I have too much self respect for my own body & health and I don't just carelessly and wrecklessly stomp on other beings for my own profit. There will be a judgment day.

Thank you @tasha_in_sd for your #gypsynurseadventures ・・・ Passing by these beautiful Texas #longhorns, I cannot help but say a little prayer knowing they will soon be shipped to slaughter, suffer a horrific death to be wrapped in plastic & sold for someone's dinner 😔 You are a gentle being, highly intelligent & feel pain, I am sorry 🖤 The good news, I see change every day! People are waking up & choosing healthier, more sustainable options. You have the power to help change the planet every time you sit down for a meal. Whether it's for the animals, our water, world hunger, the rainforest, compassion, wildlife, our health, peace, our planet ... 🌎 #chooseveg . . . . . #compassionoverkilling #veganforeverything #eatfruitnotfriends #vegicano #eatyourethics #whyloveonebuteattheother #speciesism #dairyisscary #gypsynurseadventures #findyourpassion #kindcomments #wwim16 #tashainsjc

hi im trying to vegan but when i eat some foods i look at the label and they always have milk in it. And my mom is refusing to by me fruits and veggies (i only have broccoli and beans) when it costs less than the bacon. what should i do?
Dairy is in EVERYTHING isn’t it. Or at least it feels that way. Ugh. It’s a totally unnecessary ingredient, not to mention it’s the most common food allergy, and the only reason we (at least in the US) use it is because we have an enormous surplus of milk because of government subsidies. But I digress.
Do you own a smart phone? There are some great vegan apps out there, and here is a list of some of them. ChooseVeg is also a fantastic site for people who are brand new to veganism, and they’re one of my faves and they even have a page for how to deal with belligerent family members.
Do you know why your mom won’t buy you fruits and vegetables? Is it just the cost? Most parents are more than willing to buy you healthy foods if they’re produce and on the cheaper side. They do tend to freak out from the word “vegan,” but overall, if you frame it as you wanting to eat healthier they’ll generally be more open to it.
Beans are the best source of protein and iron, so that’s good at least. Lentils are also great, as are frozen vegetables (spinach, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, kale). They last for a long time and are very healthy and cheap. Rice is also a great addition, especially black, red, and purple jasmine rice. Put all of those together and you have a cheap, healthy, complete meal. Maybe she’d be open to buying more of those types of foods?
If you’re a minor without an income of your own, there probably isn’t much you can do besides convince her to buy you more plant-based foods. It’s mostly outside of your control through no fault of your own. I was really lucky in that I went vegan just after I turned 18 and I had a job, so I didn’t have to depend on my mom for food.
But you never know. My mom gave me a hard time when I went vegan, and then she started eating much more plant-based foods afterwards and got a lot healthier. You’ll be surprised at the influence you can have just by following your ethics and morals and being a good example to others.
Sounds like you’re doing your best, anon. We’re at the mercy of our guardians when we’re living under their roof, so don’t beat yourself up about it. You’re doing great. :)

Since I became vegan last year, I’ve been scouring the internet for kid-friendly vegan recipes—not only because I want to build a repertoire of easy vegan meals that my meat-eating nieces will love, but because some of my favorite comfort foods are classic childhood dishes, like pepperoni pizza ... https://ift.tt/39jGSVx
