an in depth look at spiritkeep archetypes
okay brief delay but howdy everyone!! today we're gonna talk about two archetypes (the playbooks of Spiritkeep): the lonesome, and the minder! those were the archetypes that won this poll here (since second place had a three way tie, i had someone roll a d3 for me to determine the other archetype to talk about)
as a brief overview, archetypes are kind of like the classes of Spiritkeep while paragons are the subclasses, but overall they work closer to pbta playbooks than something like a d&d class
archetypes and paragons are based off of role-selves and healing fantasies. theyre meant to be storybook tropes that dig at the personas we became to endure trauma and the stories we tell ourselves for the better person we'll be one day
so … lets get to our examples
the lonesome
the lonesome works through themes of isolation and lack of power. for various reasons, these characters feel as though there is no one else they can or should rely on to support or know them. these characters have the power to sense insecurities in others - probably because they feel overwhelmed by their own
the lonesome comes with three paragons: the damsel, the urchin, and the wayfarer
the damsel is a character who has learned to be helpless. they've been told that they are not safe in the world or not capable of navigating it on their own. they've been made to rely on others but without true emotional support and connection. they're particularly capable of spotting loopholes and flaws in logic - but do they have the confidence and experience to use that to their advantage?
the urchin is a young character who does not have a typical support system. orphaned, abandoned, or a runaway, the urchin has learned through experience that safety is conditional and the world is not as stable as most people think. used to relying only on themself, the urchin starts with extra resources at the beginning of each arc
the wayfarer has never let themself settle down. they travel from place to place, not staying in anyone's lives for long - more of a collection of stories than a person. they may be a quiet observer or the life of the party, but, either way, they don't let anyone truly get to know them. the wayfarer has an uncanny knack for always finding their way - even out of dangerous situations
the minder
the minder is an archetype about serving others. to the minder, they will never be the most important person in the room. whether through choice or circumstance, there are others to look after, and the minder is the one to do that. the minder has tapped into the magic of the world in order to heal the people around them
the minder is split into three paragons: the caretaker, the guardian, and the shepherd
the caretaker thinks other people are more important than they are. they have to be prepared and available to take care of anyone who might need it at any time. whether this drains them, or whether they resent it, is not a factor worth consideration. why would they ever need care back? the caretaker has the ability to connect their emotions with another, though they grow more exhausted with each attempt
the guardian has been tasked with looking after someone. whether their own child, a sibling, a friend, or someone else, they have dedicated themself to another person who they see as more vulnerable and in need than they could ever be. the guardian can tap into their own strength to bolster that of another - lending other characters their big dice for better rolls
the shepherd looks after their flock - whether that be animals, children, or spirits. the most important thing about the shepherd is that they're a guide for others and people know they can be relied on. whether anyone really understands them in return is not nearly so important. the shepherd has tapped into magic that allows them to teleport themself and others short distances. anything to keep the flock safe and together

SKZ x Coordi (Intro Part) a1 d3
[Caution: These are not full fics, or even full parts of fics for some, these are part of my writing progress archive!]
Concept: Reader is a successful makeup artist with a notorious and prolific career and no self awareness. Reader joins JYP as a part of Stray Kids' team and encounters their hazing ritual for new coordis: flirting.
Word Count: 1,178 Notes: This spawned because of my conviction that I could never get my makeup done by a professional bc I would fall in love. Getting your makeup done by someone else just feels very intimate to me (ik its not, ok, I'm just touch starved T^T). It's sort of lending itself to long one-shot style formatting, but for tumblr purposes I'm posting it in parts. Also, I think I accidentally avoided pronouns for Reader? Not sure how but I didn't see any when I was reviewing this part. Will update as I post (idk how to add emojis, just imagine a thumbs up here pls TT^TT). Needs to be edited for clarity. Warnings: None that I know of? Reader has weird self esteem but it's not bad?

You're fairly sure, by the time your sunbae finishes showing you around and giving you the low-down on your new duties, that you'd gotten this job over other make-up artists because you were the safe choice. You suppose it's not an awful thing to be thought of as safe and professional. You can’t help feeling stung anyways.
You'd come to this conclusion after your sunbae, while showing you a few of the dressing rooms in the company building you'd be working in, casually drops, "oh, yeah, if you end up having relations with one of the idols, just make sure the media and management don't find out. No one else will rat you out." mid-tour.
You'd had to stop and give your sunbae the most confused and alarmed look you could manage, and when she'd seen she'd immediately laughed and made the face back at you. That made you crack, and the two of you ended up giggling together for a minute. Once you'd calmed down, she elaborated.
"It's a bit of an open secret that the unattached idols will sleep with a willing coordi every now and then," she explained "As long as management doesn't find out, and the media is entirely clueless, it's pretty much useless to try and stop it." You’d nodded along, fascinated by how similar celebrities were around the world. Sure, the cultures surrounding them were different, but there was almost always a similar sort of system when you were contracted long-term somewhere.
"Staff are pretty safe options for them, at least here at JYP.” Your sunbae had continued, “They vet our staff and stylists really well." You’d nodded again. The background check had been intensive and you’d had to sign a lot of release forms about it. It was one of the things you’d liked most about this opportunity, actually.
"Your group in particular have probably fucked at least 2 dozen coordis between them." You’d choked on air and turned to her incredulously again. What was with her and dropping bombs like this on you? It was your first day! She’d just laughed and rolled her eyes at you. "Why are you so scandalized? There's 8 of them." She reasoned, "That's, like, 3 flings a piece. Not that many." You’d conceded her point with a tilt of your head. You're sure the actual numbers aren't so even, but she had made an excellent point regardless.
"I guess that makes sense," You’d mused, "I mean, they're grown men, right? Their hands must get awful tired." That startled a laugh out of your sunbae and you’d grinned at her before you continued. "But, sunbaenim, you won't have to worry about that from me." You’d stated confidently. She’d shot you a questioning look, so you’d continued, “They’re both my clients and my coworkers under my contract. Two types of people I categorically refuse to sleep with.”
She’d laughed again, simply saying “That’s probably for the best.” and moving on with your tour. You’d let yourself be distracted by memorizing everything she was telling you and promptly forgot all about your scandalous conversation.
Despite moving on, a seed of doubt had been planted in you. You couldn’t help but think back to one of the odder questions you’d been asked when you were interviewing for this position. As an independent make-up artist you’d had to negotiate everything yourself, and at the time you’d assumed it to simply be part of their vetting process.
“What are your views on workplace relationships?” They’d asked. At the time you’d simply said you strived for friendship with both your clients and coworkers, but that you preferred professionalism over all else. Which was true, obviously, but after that conversation with your sunbae you couldn’t help but add a new context to the question.
That doubtful seed sprouted at the end of your tour, when your sunbae gave you another warning.
“Don’t mind the boys, by the way,” She’d said out of nowhere. “They’re playful, all of them, but they’ll respect a boundary to the death the moment you set it.” Once again you’d had to look at her, hopelessly confused, and you’d become pretty sure at that point that she just liked getting a reaction out of you because she snorted a laugh at whatever face you’d made and explained herself.
“I mean that they can be pretty loud and playful with both each other and staff. That includes being flirty and touchy.” she said, “I think it comes with the territory of being an idol. All that fanservice must do something to them.” She laughed, and you’d smiled along, still somewhat confused of the warning.
She must have noticed, because she elaborated further, “It can be flustering for new stylists.” She explained, and you finally started to understand, “A lot of the time it’s the first time a new stylist has been so close to an idol, you know? You have to prepare for it, like, mentally.” She made a weird gesture toward her head and you’d giggled at her antics but shook your head.
“I’ve seen so many beautiful people at this point in my life that I'm pretty sure I'm immune.” you’d declared with a chuckle. You weren’t lying either, you’d seen so many examples of so many different culture’s beauty standards you could probably write a book on it.
You’d sort of made it your career’s goal to learn as many different styles and skin and face types as you possibly could. You’d done pretty well by that goal so far, doing everything from tiny private boudoir shoots to high profile fashion shows, just about anywhere you could get to, from Cairo in Egypt, to Hollywood in California, to tiny barely-named towns all over Europe.
“Idols are different!” Your sunbae insisted, “There are hot people everywhere, but idols are built different. They’re manufactured to be desirable.”
“So are models,” you’d dismissed with a wave, “Honestly, sunbaenim, I’ll be fine. If anything, it’s the idols you should worry for.” you’d given her a saucy wink and she’d howled with laughter and clapped in delight. You’d giggled right along with her, and when you’d both calmed again, you continued. “No, but really, I’ve been told I can be quite intense when I’m focused, so maybe you should be warning the group instead.”
She’d waved you off, saying “It’ll do them some good to be humbled by someone they have no chance with.” with a devious giggle. And that had been that. The click of a conclusion sliding into place in your mind had sounded and you’d become certain that you’d been the safest of the candidates who’d applied.
It hurt, just a bit, because you’re used to being selected for your experience and ability to mimic and blend styles, not for your personal beliefs. You stave off the hurt by reminding yourself that reputation matters in this industry. If they hired you because you value your professionalism, then you’d show them exactly how professional you could be! You’d wrapped up your tour with mixed feelings and lots of determination.

loved ur recent post on paul whump !! besides the linked one(which I've never read so thanks!) do you have👀👀 any recommendations👀👀👀👀
tl;dr - it's slim pickins out there.
First let's bring back an old differentiation: there's physical whump and then emotional whump, and that was an important distinction back in the day. I have looked for both and while there are some good emotional whump pieces, there is no readable physical whump besides the su!c!d3 fic. Physical whump is more of an action movie thing and in general Beatles fandom is not terribly interested in action and adventure so they don't write it. And the thing is, that's fine, that's a valid choice that anyone can make and we should write about the things we enjoy and not what we think others expect. But it also means that Paul whump fics basically don't exist in modern fandom as we know it. There are probably some on LJ or in the Google Docs McLennon archive since Stargate and Smallville were so big on LJ at the time and there was more x-fandom pollination but I don't want to Snipe hunt right now.
(For the record, I do have something in the works to fix this hole but it won't come out until next year if we're lucky.)
Emotional whump is more plentiful and there's well written stuff out there for sure. Most of the emotional whump I've enjoyed is centered around John's suffering and while Paul's misery is apparent it's not the focus of those pieces. So this took some digging into my bookmarks and memory. What I like in a good Paul whump fic is how his own arrogance and narcissist tendencies come back to bite him OR he's having to put up with John's shit when John is being horrible.
In that spirit, here are my recommendations for decent emotional whump focused on Paul:
Barcelona - Selena. I enjoy this one because Selena let's Paul be a whole person here. It's not just John and Brian bothering him, it's the fact that he's trapped with someone who reminds him of what he's lacking and how this hurts him, both now and in the past. Parallels to the Barcelona situation are subtle and well drawn so you get all of the agony without being hit over the head with it. John is opaque to Paul who doesn't understand why he's acting like this which is a nice change from what we often see in fanfic where John just blurts out what he's feeling. Here we see how much Paul suffers when John is trying too hard to be clever.
A Hole in the World - RosalindBeatrice. Linda bears witness to the aftermath of John's murder in Paul. Easily the absolute best fanfiction on this list.
Birthday - Selene. Love this one because Selene writes Paul as an actual character instead of the heteronormative girly thing he often gets slapped with. Paul is once again bitter, angry and unhappy because the boy he fell in love with has already disappeared. He is forced to be the adult in a room full of manchildren and he hates it...but he also sucks it up and does it anyway. Because he is Paul McCartney and being the foundation of The Beatles and cleaning up John's messes is exactly what he signed up for and he will do it because no one else can. I think of this one all the time. It lives rent free in my head.
Red Sky - thinkpink20. What I appreciate about thinkpink20 is that she is brave enough to let John be absolutely awful but she also humanizes him so you can see his inner pain and confusion driving that horribleness. This is a nice one where John is no where near to figuring himself out but Paul is, and then when Stuart's living shadow gets into the mix, no one is happy.
From Barcelona To Santa Cruz - thinkpink20. Another post-Spain fic but this time John articulates his defense well which of course humiliates and angers Paul even further because John proves he is human and capable of empathy, which Paul didn't want to write into the equation.
the crane wife - mynamesbetty. Betty was showing me the first drafts of this one and all I could say was: "Paul is a horrible person. He's a fucking homewrecker. He deserves this." That's what I like best about this story. Paul is a selfish asshole and he hurts everyone and himself by being self centered, petulant, and cowardly. Every single awful thing that happens to him is strictly the result of his own actions. He manages to make himself the Coyote in a Looney Tunes cartoon including the bit where he runs straight off the cliff, doesn't realize it, and then looks down just as he starts falling before he shoots the viewer a look asking for help. And then the ACME anvil falls on him.
So those are my recommendations on Paul whump. It ended up being a longer list than I expected so that's something. Hope you enjoy the recommendations and please check out the other fanfics by these authors, they're all great.

I'm back on my bullshit again~! A more proper view of Hunter!Tahir (where he's not suffering my memes for once) as I imagined him while I played through The Northern Passage IF demo @northern-passage And small scenes and interactions with the characters: Lea Chen, Merry Harlowe, Clementine and Noel Lykaon
Special appearances by Dot (the horse), a badly carved turtle, a little lucky bell and the Rot (and Tahir at the end of the demo)
Fangirlish rambling under the cut! It long
This honestly largely took this long cuz I could *not* figure out which scene I wanted to use for Noel! Xe has a ton of really great scenes but in most the Hunter wears their cloak (as per usual) and I really wanted one where that doesn't happen. Cuz, for Tahir, Noel is one of the people he's the most comfortable just being himself around rather than a hunter, cuz xe is hunter too but kind and he makes it easier. And since Tahir is an idiot who didn't even care to check for the wraith before going for Clem, he's kinda unconscious when they first meet!
So I ended up picking the scene in front of the door after the Hunter accidentally-on-purpose opens the Vel, where, to hide xirs fear and concern ('m guessing), Noel makes a joke that actually has the Hunter laughing. A short moment of almost normalcy surrounded by something that, of the group, only the two fully share.
Meanwhile Lea (he/him from a d3 toss) gets to be a gremlin! It was honestly a cute and really natural scene that I'd been itching to doodle for a bit so here it is! (Tahir's horse is called Dot cuz she has a dot in the centre of her forehead. She's a lusitano uwu I'm dating a horseboy, I gotta respect the horse) Tahir's favourite (non alcoholic) drink is actually coffee so Lea won himself some extra points right there! That he immediately lost for laughing at Tahir's suffering >:'(
Merry gets the scene with the little carved turtle cuz my thoughts were pretty much the same as Tahir's when I read the scene. It was really cute! It felt like seeing Merry rather than the pirate captain who is trying to protect her town, almost vulnerable and caring for just a little trinket that matters to her. Basically, Merry cute, cute Merry cute, I draw
Clem gets to tell a story! A story that, I'm sure, isn't going to be deeply meaningful nor anything. This is also a moment where Clem reaches out to the Hunter with an offer to protect them so I really wanted to include it. Despite how scared they seem, they still offer to come to the Hunter if he calls, and, ye, wanted to draw that!
And Tahir! As the Hunter. Tahir has brown eyes in the narration but he normally has amber ones, so I kept here even if it's hard to see ':D
Alcohol for his poison of choice. Favourite magic is sword. Touch starved as much as touch averse, no, he doesn't get it either.
He promised Jorah and he means to keep that promise, but gods if he’s not tired…
Very protective of his people: Noel, Lea and his dads mentors in particular, but Merry and Clem too (and whoever might need protection but these people most of all atm). In part thanks to that promise, and how it does help remind him to not hate others for… well, most of what being a hunter means, but it has led to him internalising a lot of that anger into a lack of care for his own safety that then leads to him being almost self-sacrificing when others are in danger. It’s fine tho! He’s fine!
He’s always fine, he has to be.
I haven’t figured out yet which romance path he’s gonna go for yet! Merry cute, Lea is delightful drama, and Noel is an absolute darling (sorry, Clem, you're not an option for Tahir, but at least that means less angst in your life??) so I am dying here!!
At this point in the demo Tahir’s managed to fight with Lea, but still agreed to talk, and lit his pipe (delicious scene btw, 5 stars~), was not kicked out of Merry’s ship cuz he kept away from the books but did get kicked out of her office when he went there to talk (yes, it hurt. A lot. He felt like such an idiot), been flustered by Noel and had a surprisingly not terrible conversation with him before they went to the isolation district, and made a blood pact with Clem, that came back to bite him in the ass (but also not really cuz wow! Keres hurts), he wants to have a little chat, Clem…!
He also got punched with the butt of a knife in the face by Duncan but paid him back in the final-current-demo-fight >:) (Duncan is awful in the absolutely best way possible! Had a lot of fun in his scenes and really enjoying hating the guy)
Really excited to get to find out what the hell Jorah is doing there, and working with/for Keres and Duncan?? In future chapters. (Also, Tahir would like to know where's Rodrick?? Where's dad, dad??) Also to find out more about the Hunter’s new “little” tagalong (aka, the Firstborn, I'm still going all in it's them!). Tahir actually doesn’t hate them, since they’ve only hurt him (as far as he knows) and not his people so there’s a good chance they’ll maybe be actually able to talk??

Legends of the Necromancer: Rathma came in the mail today :D
Initial thoughts (and Spoilers);
Linarian is a total sweetheart, and kinda dumb. Or just really naive. Bro really tried to resurrect his Best Friend in a Spooky Cave where they used to mess around with the Powers of Life and Death, left her there when it didn't work, and was surprised when that went awry a few years down the line. They also draw him really doe-eyed every time there's a closeup of his face. Cutie. It's an interesting contrast from the whole No-Emotion-Super-Serious Rathma we're familiar with.
Lilith's massacre really was brutal. The drawings of her fuck severely.
There's a Citadel! Where all the angels & demons & their kids lived together on Sanctuary. Mayhaps a location we'll visit down the line? Or perhaps that was what became the Cradle/Kasama in D4.
Apparently Linarian has always had visions of the future, and its pretty much always been a shit-show.
Kessime (Linarian's wife) is sweet. Don't really see much of her before she gets offed, but what we do see is very domestic. She and Linarian love and care each other. (I think they might bone in this book. Good for them!)
It's a little weird how much long-violent-tongue their is in this book. Once is fun but twice is brow-raising. (It is not a long book. 40 pages maybe. There did not need to be two instances of tongue-violence.)
They also took Linarian's shirt off twice. Nice.
Linarian being a farmer is cute but. I dunno. We already got that from Uldyssian and Mendeln, he coulda been a baker or something else fun and quaint. The least they coulda done was show him reaping wheat with a proper sickle, but nah.
At least we know Rathma knows his way around a shovel.
They mention but don't show kids + grandkids. Bummer.
The action scenes were interesting, and I enjoyed that when he's mowing the undead down he gives everyone a choice to either depart or come with him for sweet revenge. Commander of the Dead indeed.
We start to see Rathma's set armor from D3, a fun little nod there. Linarian seems to be able to conjure it from the aether. Or maybe he's borrowing it from the dead bodies around him? I dunno, either way it seems really convenient.
I like that Indira is more or less what we'd get if Rathma used his powers for evil and stuff. They are nice enough foils for each other, and I'd like to see more of her.
...This book is basically Linarian kinda fucking up and losing all the women in his life (Lilith, Indira, Kessime), which is a little. Hm. Don't love that, don't hate it.
We only get a little bit of Trag, but what we do get is very pretty.
There is. No Inarius in this book. Not that there needs to be, but personally I think that's a missed opportunity. Rathma was murdered by his father, they coulda added something between them here.

MY DIET :
as someone who's in therapy for years now and struggled with an eating disorder since childhood i wanted to share my diet. my diet is inspired by victoria secret model's diets along with a couple celebrites i like. i might do separate posts specifically on diets and workouts of celebrities i love later on. but here's the inspo i follow.
BREAKFAST :
it's important to have a breakfast that's either high in protein and fats or high in carbs to have the energy you need for the day !
here's a couple breakfast options :
• oatmeal with blueberries and walnuts
• overnight oats
• eggs and avocado toast
• protein smoothie
• smoothie bowl
• homemade granola
• fresh fruit with greek yogurt
LUNCH :
it's important to have a lunch that leaves you satiated so it has to include lean protein and fresh or cooked vegetables.
here's some lunch options :
• chicken salad with brown rice or quinoa and fresh veggies
• grilled turkey with teriyaki sauce and greens
• grilled fish with fresh or boiled veggies
DINNER :
for dinner we keep it light so we can have a good night's sleep, eating too much at night leads to nightmares, poor quality sleep, bloating and puffiness in the mornings etc.
here's some dinner options :
• veggie soup
• salad with lean protein; chicken, turkey, fish etc.
• fresh veggie salad
• sushi
• chicken with roasted veggies
SNACKS :
for snacks, we need to also keep it healthy at least 80% of the time and indulge the remaining 20%, the 80/20 rule.
here are some options for snackies :
berries, nuts, nut butter with fresh fruit, fruit, protein shakes, homemade energy bars, hummus with veggies, protein bars.
OTHER THINGS TO ADD :
i do intermittent fasting, i eat more than 3 meals a day (with snacks), i focus on eating a lot of protein and veggies, i consume my carbs in the morning and i eat replace certain foods with healthier options like white potatoes with sweet potatoes, white bread with ezekiel bread, white rice with brown or black rice. i also track my calorie intake (i use the app "lose it") approximately and my weight. i'm also on prescription medication for binge eating disorder (topiramate, anticonvulsant mood stabilizer that helps with chronic migraines which i have and my neurologist recommended it, and it cuts appetite so it helped a lot with my compulsive bingeing in the context of bulimia)
ROMEE STRIJD DIET :
she enjoys a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. things like carrots, strawberries, broccoli, spinach and avocado. enjoyed either on their own or in a nutrient dense meal. for protein chicken and fish are her go to choices. nuts, grains, legumes and vegetables are a way for her to cut back on her meat intake. she avoids processed foods and junk food. she loves snacking on rice cakes with peanut butter topped with a banana. her number one advice is meal prepping.
ALEXA DEMIE DIET :
she loves some juice with poached eggs and avocado for breakfast. for snacks, protein shakes, and fruit are the go-to. lunch consists of a bowl of salad followed by dinner made of lean protein such as chicken, turkey, and beef with veggies. for post dinner, which is optional, and only if she's craving something more, she'll have a protein bar, some dry fruit, or a mix of nuts.

Summary:
Even when the opportunity presents itself, sleep is never an option for Hunter. Some nights he’s kept up with nerves – the burning compulsion to provide service, to locate an equally insomniac-ridden fool in the castle and hope to Titan they’ll have enough faith in him to accept help. These nights, generally, are the easiest to manage.
