We've seen how each of the twins can be on their own when hostile--determined, single-minded, vengeful, and bloodthirsty. They are boars who will skewer themselves just to take you down with them. While Saeran has chosen Peace by his after ending... I can only imagine what him snapping again would look like. Especially alongside Saeyoung, who has already chosen Violence and can only be stopped by outside forces.

It's that time of year again which means I get to draw something to celebrate my birthday. It's been eight years since I met the RFA this year, and that means it's been eight years since I met Saeran Choi. I am grateful to his character for being there for me after all this time, and for continuing to be with me to this day. I love him and I know in some universe out there in the cosmos, he loves me, too.

My smile shines brighter because Saeran helped me find my worth. Thank you, my love, for reminding me to love myself all four seasons even if you're not around.

Since I’m traveling this week, I can’t stop thinking about road trips with Saeran. 

GE Saeran would be a very involved road trip partner. If he can get his hands on them, he’s going to bring physical maps in the car. You might make some good-natured fun of him, but after so many years of looking at a screen 24/7, Saeran prefers to have a physical, paper object with him. Not to mention that he'll get to use pieces of the map in his scrapbook and his journal after the two of you are done with your adventure... though I don't think he'd be against it if you wanted to bring your GPS app into the mix, too. After all, he can appreciate the practicality of knowing what traffic is like and which roads may or may not be closed at the time of your road trip. I feel like he would also be the type to pack a picnic lunch for days when the pair of you are on the road, so you can expect a cooler full of cute little sandwiches and cakes. Road tripping with Saeran is a process. He likes to stop often, especially if he sees an interesting roadside attraction. There's just so much of the world left for him to explore, and he wants to get to know every inch of it! Please be patient with him, even if you're starting to get sick of sitting in the car. If you’re starting to get stiff, you can let him know, and he’ll find someplace where you can stretch out and enjoy the scenery. Although he's perfectly capable of driving and very willing to do so if you don't feel up to it, Saeran really likes being a passenger. It means he can pay more attention to the scenery and less attention to the road.... plus, he trusts you, so it's not a problem having you drive. With your permission, he'll even field your phone calls for you if anybody tries to get in touch while you're operating a motor vehicle. He’s happy to listen to music with you in the car— in fact, he already pulled you aside before you left to put together a playlist for this trip. If the two of you need to stop at a hotel, Saeran will be more than happy to just go with the flow and let you pick the place. If you have a favorite hotel to stay at, he'll listen with rapt attention while you tell him about it.  He's definitely not the type to wake you up early and get back on the road at 5am, unless, of course, the two of you are pressed for time— otherwise, Saeran can find ways to entertain himself until you're both ready to leave.

The only way you're ever going to spend any significant amount of time in the car with Ray is if you flee Magenta and he has to track you down. In that case, he'll be absolutely terrified on the way there— he won't waste any time, though he'll be sure to pick up your favorite snacks for the drive back, especially if it's a long way. Once he finds you, his first priority will be showing you that Magenta is a good place and that you can trust Ray, because he has your best interests in mind. This means that he'll vow to take care of everything for you— he'll drive the whole time. He might also take the liberty of locking your door and window for you, for your own protection, of course. Ray also isn't interested in stopping, even for the roadside attractions that catch your eye... he's too scared that you'll try to leave him again if he lets you out of the car. Obviously, you've been brainwashed or something, and it's not safe to let you out of his sight until you're back in a healthier state of mind. But that's just fine— he has everything you need with him in the car, anyway. If you're hungry, Ray has your favorite snacks, along with some baked goods that he smuggled from Magenta. If you're thirsty, he'll offer you a water bottle. If you're tired—-and Ray is really, really sorry about this, but that's just the way it is, prince(ss), and you're almost home anyway— you can sleep in the passenger seat. If you have to go to the bathroom, or if you're otherwise physically uncomfortable, Ray will probably stop, but he's not going to let you out of his sight for any longer than a few minutes. He'll also spend the entire car ride trying to convince you to stay at Magenta, which may involve any combination of flattery, guilt-tripping, and genuine worry about why you left in the first place. You might be a bit uncomfortable at first, but it's also strangely touching that Ray went out of his way to get a pillow for you to lean on in the car. It's also hard not to sympathize with him, at least a little bit. You might begin to wonder if you were wrong to leave Magenta in the first place. If you want to listen to music, Ray will probably oblige you— he wants to show you that he’s willing to cater to your needs and your desires, even if they don’t necessarily align with his own. He’ll let you connect your phone to aux, but unfortunately, you’ll probably never see the device again once he’s gotten his hands on it. 

Similarly, if you're on a road trip with Suit Saeran, then something has happened, and he is the least of your worries. If you ran from Magenta, Saeran probably wouldn't try to track you down, at least not of his own volition. He knows you don't belong there, after all. Of course,  if Rika gets involved, then Saeran might have to make a different choice— find you and bring you back to Magenta, or find you and follow you someplace else. This is an impossible decision for him, and it would piss him off a great deal to have to even contend with it. Don't expect him to bring you anything for the road— he'll take his phone, his wallet, his keys, and the clothes on his back. When he finally finds you, he could go one of two ways— either Saeran will speed back to Magenta to please his Savior by returning to her, or he'll resign himself to joining you on whatever journey you're taking... if you'll have him, that is. If you won’t.... Well, to be entirely honest, Saeran doesn't know. He'll probably return to Magenta and lie about not finding you, and then he'll face whatever consequences await. In the event that he's taking you back, then Saeran will stop for nothing, regardless of any protestation on your part. If he's following you, however, Saeran would probably even let you drive. He'd press his face against the window and just watch the clouds floating by. He doesn’t want to listen to music in the car; it only adds to his stress. Saeran doesn’t cope well with things he can’t predict, and this, unfortunately, includes music that he’s never heard before, which happens to be most of the music out there. He'd still be a bit paranoid about stopping— what if somebody finds the two of you?— but he won't complain too much if you bring him somewhere he can get sweet snacks. If you end up taking him to a hotel, he’ll fall asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow, regardless of the stress he’s under. He won’t be pleased to find that you’ve let him sleep through the night and into the morning, but he’ll make an effort not to let it show as he continues on his retreat with you. 

There are quite a few circumstances under which you might find yourself on a road trip with Unknown. The first is fairly straightforward— if he takes you from the apartment, he'll have to get you back to Magenta. In that case, you're definitely not going to get your hands on the wheel, and Unknown isn't going to stop to pick up snacks for you, sorry. If you wanted snacks, you could have had the ones in the Savior’s apartment. However, you might also end up in the car with him as part of a mission for the Savior, in which case things might be a little bit different. Unknown would still never let you drive, but he might be willing to allow a few short stops to get snacks, as long as they're good snacks. He is not, under any circumstances, pulling over for the honey-whatever chips you keep asking about, so stop asking before he puts you in the trunk, okay, prince(ss)? Unknown will not ever actually put you in the trunk, of course, no matter how annoying you get, but he likes to have a few vaguely credible threats up his sleeve nevertheless. He's very secretive about where the two of you are actually going and what you'll be doing there, which probably isn't a good thing, but all you can really do is roll with it. There's no music in his car. If you try to connect to aux, he'll throw your phone out the window— that is, if you even still have a phone in the first place. If you start digging around for CDs... those will go out the window, too. You'll probably have to lecture Unknown about road safety regarding windows and throwing things out of them— he would absolutely be the type to throw apple cores and banana peels out there as well (assuming you’ve convinced him to eat fruit instead of candy, which is highly unlikely but not impossible). If the two of you have to stay in a hotel, he'll use a fake ID to make the reservation, and then he won't let you out of his sight until you're back in his car. It's not that he thinks you're a flight risk— Unknown knows you by now, and he knows you're not the type to just run away like that. He does not, however, trust outsiders around you, so you’re just going to have to learn to put up with his hand or his hawkish gaze on your back whenever the pair of you are out in public. End of story.

It takes a long time before SE Saeran is even allowed to go on a road trip alone with you. It's not that Saeyoung doesn't trust you, and not that he doesn't trust Saeran— just that he doesn't trust the situation, and he certainly doesn't trust other people. What if something happens while the two of you are out? What if Saeran gets overwhelmed and lashes out? And Saeran has similar fears, so he won't agree to go with you on any kind of extended road trip until he's a hundred percent certain that he's ready. You have to drive, though. He just wants to look out the window at the passing clouds and the scenery. There are some destinations in which Saeran is not interested— mountains, in particular, are a little hard for him since leaving Mint Eye, and for obvious reasons, he’s not too fond of churches or other religious buildings, but generally, he likes nature well enough. He's more interested in spending time together with you than in the actual destination of the trip. If you want to listen to music while you drive, he won't stop you— unless, of course, he hates the music. Then he'll turn it off without a word. Maybe you can encourage him to play his own music.... he probably won't do it unless you invite him. Saeran is a bit out of his depth when it comes to road trip etiquette, and as blunt as he is, he doesn't want to offend you, so he’s unlikely to initiate any of his own plans. He probably won't ask to stop, but he won't complain about stopping, either, and he'll stock up on sweets if the two of you ever swing by a convenience store. As far as hotels go... Saeran can barely sleep in the bunker, which is familiar to him, so he's probably not going to do very well in a completely unfamiliar location. However, he's perfectly comfortable falling asleep in the car while you're driving. He trusts you.

ok ok so human suit leaving cat suit with MC. saeray and mc leaving mint eye the next day and it's not until they reach the cabin that saeray wonders what happened to cat suit if mc is with him now. he isn't going to say anything bc mc doesn't need more things to worry about and then mc opens their bag and is like "okay you can come out now" and a second later saeray has a lap full of black and white fur and it is purring LOUDLY. and probably meowing, bc cats will yell at you for leaving

"Okay, you can come out now."

Saeray could not believe his eyes as a delightfully familiar heap of black-and-white fur fell onto his lap. His gaze flickered first to his beloved, then to his lap, then to the bag, then back to his smiling lover.

He was unsure of where his focus should be or what to say first. Ever since he had grabbed MC's hand to make an escape from their gilded birdcage, his mind had simultaneously been the clearest it had ever been but also as tumultuous as a typhoon.

"When... did you...?"

He didn't get a chance to finish his question, as a high-pitched yowl cut him off. The cry for his attention effectively brought Saeray's eyes back to his lap, where Suit the cat (MC had informed him this was a cat) continued to make distressed meows.

For a moment, Saeray expected the cat to jump and run underneath a chair or cower in the corner. He knew Suit was a skittish creature, and even if the Saeran who first found the cat was still part of him... Saeray was not the same person who Suit knew. Would he resent both of them for the events that led to him ending up here? MC, too?

The feeling of anxious claws digging into his thigh almost seemed to confirm Saeray's worst fears. But then he saw that the cat had extended his snout to give Saeray's shirt a cautious sniff. Hesitantly, Saeray lifted a shaky hand and held it just above the cat's ears.

Once again, Suit gave a careful sniff. He paused, as if evaluating the scent and the other aspects of this new person. Just as Saeray expected Suit to use his legs as a launchpad, the cat rammed his head against the young man's hovering hand. Purring like a computer hard drive, Suit butted his head against Saeray's hand repeatedly, then nuzzled his face up and down the young man's arm, eager to mark him with his scent.

"I knew he'd like you," MC announced at last, a beaming smile on their face. "He loves you, all of you. Just as I d--"

A wailing meow cut them off. Clearly, Suit did not want to share the attention with anyone else right now. He walked in a circle and then settled himself squarely in the middle of Saeray's lap, digging his nose firmly into the man's abdomen.

Saeray chuckled and blinked slowly at MC. A simple gesture, but with his eyes full of glistening tears of joy, it was one that indicated his understanding, his appreciation, and his adoration for his lover's kindness.

He'd learned that trick from Suit.

Make no mistake, Saeran will absolutely notice even the most subtle of changes in your behavior around him. 

He is a highly intuitive person, and he’s very in tune to your emotional state.

With how keen his awareness is, it is just simply not possible to fool him into believing you’re okay when he can very clearly tell that you’re not.

The quiet strain in your voice despite trying to remain your cheerful self, the sadness in your eyes, the tenseness in your shoulders...

Saeran will take note of it all.

His initial reaction may be to inwardly blame himself for just a brief moment, wondering if he’d done something to cause it, or make you feel like you needed to try to hide from him.

In the past, back when you’d known him only as Ray, he would have succumbed to these intrusive thoughts, drowning himself in blame and guilt, assuming that his fears were right- that he must have done something wrong.

But, things are different now. 

Saeran is much healthier than he used to be, he is capable of recognizing these fears as baseless, and he is quick to push them back and come to your aid.

Communication is important to him, and he won’t let you get away with thinking he doesn’t know that you’re suffering.

He would never force you to share something you’re not comfortable with, or try to make you talk about it before you’re ready, but he will absolutely reassure you that he’s there for you no matter what.

Saeran is more than willing to listen to you vent out your frustrations, offer you advice, or just be someone for you to hold onto for comfort.

He just wants to support you in any way that he can.

He’ll pull you into his snug embrace, combing his lithe fingers through your hair, pressing his cheek against the top of your head as he rests against you.

“It’s not healthy for you to keep these feelings trapped inside of you, my love. You don’t have to suffer alone. Let me be there for you...I’m right here for anything you need, I always am.”

You’re the most precious thing in the world to Saeran, and his care for you is unmatched. 

Saeran’s love for you is unconditional, tender, warm...

He will make sure your feelings are never left unattended to, and endlessly reassure you that he’s by your side, through thick and thin. Through everything. Always.

The way this specific line of dialogue has clung to me for years is unfathomable. But, the ungodly sob that escaped me after GE Saeran said the same words that Ray said just before the explosion rattled his body is hard to describe. It took so long to get both of the after endings for the boys in Another Story. The unbelievable amount of agony in that time it took to wait can be condensed in what these words make me feel.

I feel everything all at once when I see these words. It has the exact same impact every time I play through these routes, but nothing, nothing will ever hit me as hard as the first time it smacked me in the face. I don't know if it's the same for you guys, but damn, I tried to think about what dialogue has stuck with me in games that I've played over the years and this is the number one.
