See You in My 19th Life (2023)
I unabashedly love this show. The actors, the characters, the way it was shot, the convoluted dramatic plot that seems to bend back on itself, it all works for me. But you have to keep in mind that this is not a romcom: it's a weepy dramedy with big romantic feels.
What worked
This cast is so great. Beautiful people acting out big feelings while telling a good story. The cinematography was excellent, restrained when it needed to be and leaning hard into the fantasy to tell the story in other places. The plot didn't always make logic sense, but the writing was very good at getting across the feelings it wants you to feel.
What Didn't Work
Some of the musical cues bothered me, especially when it tried to play up this big mystery about Kang Min-gi. (Was he a bad guy? Yes. Did he deserve his own sinister background music when he came on screen? No.) Also, there were a few logic breaks that I feel like would have been ironed out if they'd had 16 episodes instead of 12. Finally, I'm not an expert, but people who have read the webtoon it was based on were disappointed with some of the departures from the original story. None of this bothered me, because it had so many high moments.
The Performances
Shin Hye-sun as (19th lifer) Ban Ji-eum. I would die for this character. I would love to see her play a short season of the Korean version of Doctor Who, because she would nail that role. It wasn't just the moments of a beautiful person looking sad about drama, she played the comic parts well, she played the angry parts well, she was downright weird at times in a way that was unsettling, and that totally worked for this character. I now have to go back and see everything this actor has been in before now.
Ahn Bo-hyun as (sad rich boi) Moon Seo-ha. This actor was also really good. He had to play it straight and stoic through much of the series, and that could come across as wooden in some scenes, but then they would let him loose in a scene and it was amazing to watch. His chemistry with Shin Hye-sun was so good, as well.
Ha Yoon-kyung as (spring sunshine) Yoon Cho-won. I loved her in Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and this is even better. Her best role yet. The second lead couple in this was (somewhat) less emotional, and that made the slow burn more enjoyable in some ways. But I really loved the scenes with Cho-won and Ji-eum. Just as much fun to watch as the romantic scenes.
Ahn Dong-goo as (the driver) Ha Do-yoon. Somehow, this guy had to be more stoic than Ahn Bo-hyun's character, which made the moments when the emotions leaked out of him even more electric. I wish we'd had a few more episodes to get some happy romantic moments towards the end of the series, but he was still great to watch on screen and did an excellent job.
Cha Chung-hwa as (the niece) Kim Ae-kyung. She was good in Hometown Cha x 3, but I would riot if something bad happened to her character in this drama. Did I riot? Watch and find out!
Lee Si-woo as (the little brother) Ha Do-jin. A delightful character played really well by Lee Si-woo. It was always a fun scene when he showed up.
Lee Chae-min as (one weird guy) Kang Min-gi. I always felt unsettled when this guy was in a scene. In case you had doubts about the guy, he had creepy music following him around the entire series, but the actor didn't really need it.
Kang Myung-joo as (the sad mother) Jo Yoo-seon. I really loved her performances even though they were usually the saddest scenes. She had so few lines, and managed to do alot with them.
Bae Hae-sun as (evil stepmom) Jang Yeon-ok. I especially disliked her. The actor did a great job of playing a shameless, entitled backstabber. Nice to see her get a bigger role (liked her in It's okay to not be okay), even if it is as someone not very nice.
Baek Seung-cheol as (all time bad dad) Ban Hak-su. I hated this character so much, which shows the actor did a great job.
Moon Dong-hyuk as (bad brother) Ban Dong-woo. I loathed and pitied this character, overall another good performance.
Kim Si-a as (the 18th lifer) Yoon Joo-won. She did a very good job in some tough scenes. I'm always amazed at how good some of these young actors are.
Park So-yi as (the young 19th lifer) Ban Ji-eum. Very good in the episodes she showed up. Was fun seeing her onscreen opposite Ahn Bo-hyun.
Lee Han-na as (mystery girl) Han-na. They should have done more with this character or figured out how to do without her completely. They just didn't have the episode time to do her justice. Overall, an okay actor that was completely overshadowed by the other actors.
Seo-ha's Family. I'm usually indifferent to chaebol corporate nonsense, but the actors did an excellent job of making you feel like part of the family. A terrible family, that treated Seo-ha terribly. The uncle (played by Lee Hae-young) was a standout, but they were all good in their own way, including the step-brother.
The past lives. I really enjoyed the different past lives. They didn't always have alot of lines, but they still made you feel something as you got little snapshots of harrowing moments in their lives.
The bad rich boy society guys. Honorable mention. I didn't always know their names, but every scene where they mistreated Ha Do-yoon's character was still infuriating, and that was on the actors as much as the writing.
TL;DR
This show is something special. I highly recommend it if you have any kind of interest in the premise. I will definitely be rewatching it.

“Flower of Evil”: Lee Joongi x Moon Chaewon’s script reading switching between melodrama and tension … set to premiere in July
(source — https://entertain.naver.com/read?oid=076&aid=0003569262)
tvN’s upcoming Wed-Thurs drama “Flower of Evil” released photos of the script reading where Lee Joongi, Moon Chaewon, Jang Heejin, and Seo Hyunwoo showed their passionate performances, along with a full cast that raises our expectations.
“What if your husband you have loved for the past 14 years is a coldblooded serial killer?” With this shocking premise begins tvN’s new Wed-Thurs drama “Flower of Evil” (director Kim Chul-kyu, writer Yoo Jung-hee, producers Studio Dragon and Monster Union), which is a densely layered cat-and-mouse chase drama about two people who find themselves facing the truth they don’t want to see – Baek Hee Sung (Lee Joongi), a man who changed his identity and hides his violent past, and Cha Ji Won (Moon Chaewon), his homicide detective wife who investigates his past.
At the script reading that marked the beginning of the drama were director Kim Chul-kyu, who has proven top-notch directing in both melodrama and thriller, writer Yoo Jung-hee, who has garnered attention for her solid writing, and the reliable main cast who will surely double the duo’s synergy: Lee Joongi (Baek Hee Sung), Moon Chaewon (Cha Ji Won), Jang Heejin (Do Hae Soo), and Seo Hyunwoo (Kim Moo Jin).
In the drama, Lee Joongi plays Baek Hee Sung, who hides his secret that’s about to explode like a ticking bomb and has even pretended to love his wife. Lee brings to perfection the tense-filled walk on the tightrope between the two extremes of coldness and warmth. Moon Chaewon plays Cha Ji Won’s two sides of loving wife and charismatic homicide detective, promising to show a performance we’ve never seen in her. Above all, their heavily melodramatic chemistry as a married couple set the script reading room on fire, while their detailed performances as their characters’ suspicions about each other grow filled the room with tension.
Reliable actor Jang Heejin also completely disappeared into Do Hae Soo, a serial killer’s daughter who has lived with her terrible family history, making the drama more engrossing. Seo Hyunhoo, who has worked in both film and drama, plays Kim Moon Jin, a scoop-hungry weekly reporter, breathing life into the drama with his rhythmic line delivery and perfect chemistry with Lee Joongi.
As anticipation grows for the four actors’ ensemble in “Flower of Evil,” the cast is also being joined by other veteran actors including versatile actor Kim Jihoon, Choi Byungmo, Son Jonghak, Nam Kiae, and Yoon Byunghee. It has been said that the production team will add more impactful characters well into the midpoint of the drama, hoping to maintain tension throughout.
Also, Im Chulhyung, Choi Daehoon, Choi Youngjoon, and Kim Sooho will play homicide detectives, joined by Cho Kyungsook, Yang Haejin, Im Nayoung, and finally, child actor Jung Seoyeon who will play a cute daughter for couple Lee Joongi and Moon Chaewon. The solid cast that has been completed with these brilliant actors will bring vitality to the drama, raising viewer expectations.
tvN’s upcoming Wed-Thurs drama “Flower of Evil” promises to show a flawless synergy of “director-writer-cast,” with Lee Joongi, Moon Chaewon, Jang Heejin, and Seo Hyunwoo. The drama is set to premiere in July.

produce X 101 Dream Team!!!
Nam Do HyunLeeKim Minkyu-II stopped posting as religiously about this show as I meant to, but I’ve been following and analyzing it and now that the finale is about to be upon us~
If I look at who is in the top ten/eleven currently, then it’s fine...There’s a few guys who don’t stand out to me, or a few who irritate me, but the few I absolutely dislike being in the top twenty are low enough that I have fingers crossed they don’t debut with this group (I do sincerely wish for all the contestants to debut and achieve their dreams~!!)
BUT, my absolute perfect dream team is as follows~!!
Kim Yo Han--He absolutely should be center. I get Wooseok will most likely get center cause his loyal fans from his first debut, but honestly Yo Han is the face of this season~!!
Cho Seung Youn--I fell for him back in the beginning when I thought, “He kinda looks like Yoon Jisung...” and then, oh wait it turns out he’s a Golden Boy with talent in everything he touches~!!!
Han Seung Woo--His vocals are one of the greatest and he’s so sexy~!! Also, maybe unpopular opinion but I love his look of covering his eyes?!! I hope they don’t change his hair too much when he debuts (Cause he’s going to)
Kim Minkyu--Not gonna lie, I spent a majority of this season thinking he was overrated and lacked the talent that so many others had. BUT, he has a wonderful attitude of humility and humbleness--He shows great improvement, and to me with these trainees, the talent margin is far smaller than with Produce 101 Season 2--Companies sent out absolute newbies of trainees from their companies b/c the deal is for FIVE YEARS!! So, while I think everyone has talent, I don’t think this X group is gonna be near as impressive as Wanna One (THey’ll be successful, hell yeah, but when you compare the two groups, it’ll be awhile before this group is showing the talent and range that Wanna One had from the get go) That said, Minkyu is someone I wouldn’t mind watching improving over five years--his potential is great, and again his personality is nice enough that I am hoping he debuts now; I came around to Minkyu...
Lee Han Gyul--Han Gyul is the closest to a Daniel replacement this season has (Not that he should be compared as “the second Daniel” but he exudes the sexiness and dance and he also is a good singer~ He’s agreat personality that lifts the groups he’s apart of and I want soooo badly for him to jump the necessary spots to make it to debut in this final episode!! I know he’s a far fetch but...He’s my guilty-pleasure~!!
Lee Jin Hyuk--Jin Hyuk LEAD Turtle Ship!!!! From that moment onward, I want Jin Hyuk to debut and be made leader like...Damn. He gets overshadowed by his band-mate Wooseok, but honestly Jin Hyuk I think is more talented and I think he’s a sure bet to debut, but even after he does I hope he gains the recognition he deserves and isn’t overlooked by Wooseok...
Song Yu Vin--Yu Vin is another whose talent and personality took me a LONG time to understand, but in honesty what stands out to me is his personality. He’s hilarious!!! Also, I see him as spiritually carring Choi Suwhan on his back (who really should have made it to top 20, I’m bitter but I’m also hopeful Choi Suwhan gets snatched up by an agency now~!) and so Su Vin is another Han Gyul case to me--it’s a stretch that they’ll make it to debut, but this is my DREAM TEAM~!! Hwaiting Su Vin!!
If I’m honest, those are my absolute favorites...I feel solid about five of them, but if I had to finish to round out this line-up, I’d add Kim Wooseok (Again, I recognize he’s got talent but to me he’s that “over-played radio song” where I’m almost spitefully not falling for him cause he has enough fans behind him; I’ll like him fine enough when he debuts, but he won’t be my favorite), Nam Do Hyun (Honestly, his rap is amazing, no question, but it makes me question if he should become a kpop idol and not just debut as a rapper--he’d be solid in that field...Still, his talent is undeniable and I’d LOVE if he and Han Gyul both made it~!!) and then flip a coin between Cha Jun Ho, Keum Dong Hyun, Lee Eun Sang for the final slots~
I hate all the starship boys.Sorry not sorry. I’ve resolved myself that Song Hyeong Jun will debut, but I will be furious if Ham Won Jin does...THe other two I’m ambivalent about. Se Jin I don’t honestly remember much of--Tony I am amazed made it this far, he has talent but no stage presence and he’s just not ready to debut...And Dong Pyo annoys me, so I’d like him to not debut, BUT I will be fine if he debuts simply because he is Seungwoo’s son and them debuting together would make Seungwoo happy and he deserves the world so~!!!
Please message me your picks--hell, if you disagree immensely with me, don’t bash me but please enlighten me on why the contestants I relate the least too are actually better than I credit them--let’s fangirl over these talented boys and even the oes who don’t debut I’ll continue to support and we’re all excited to see who the finanl 11 are to make up the mysterious X group (X has got to be in their name’s title~)
#produce x 101#han seung woo#kim yo han#lee jin hyuk#lee han gyul#cho seung youn#song yu vin#kim minkyu#let's debut!!!!

Cho Won x Ha Do Yun payoff was better in the webtoon
The show verse was so damn cute
Till the time confession happened
After that their scene was just off
Stilted dialogue and 2012 era kiss
Webtoon post confession cuteness trumps this
But like, can we also get Haa Yoon Kyung and ahn dong goo playing a couple again in another show
Cause they're so cute anyway
For those who don't care about webtoon spoilers anymore, PFB Cho Won x Ha Do Yun post confession fluff
#see you in my 19th life#yoon cho won#ha do yun#ahn dong goo#ha yoon kyung#kdrama#cho won x do yun#kdramadaily#webtoon#cute
