I read this book in one long breath. I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading WOMEN and it wasn’t what I expected. A evocative look at romantic obsession, first loves and self-destructive tendencies we all seem to harbour. I loved it. It brought back memories from a time I was less sure of myself. The act of reading this book felt like an overdue ode to the person I was.

Book mail! I ordered this copy of Women from the publisher after @gettbr recommended it for me, but when it came it had a bonus book! (As a mistake? A free gift? There was no note so I have no idea.) I don’t really know anything about Fast Machine, but I’m excited to read Women — even more so now that I saw that it is “in loving memory of Maggie Estep.” If you don’t know who Estep is, you should check her out. My husband and I quote “Scab Maids on Speed” to each other all the time. . . #bookmail #women #chloecaldwell #elizabethellen #fastmachine #sfldbooks #hobartpulp https://www.instagram.com/p/B11oRn5ghRx/?igshid=1dt4u3xy3k4zh

I'll Tell You in Person - Chloe Caldwell I'll Tell You in Person by Chloe Caldwell is a book of personal essays about her struggle with adult hood and accepting the struggles and mistakes she's done along the way. Although I honestly have very little to relate to some of these essays about a high functioning drug addict who has famous author friends and lives in a tiny New York apartment, I love reading personal essays about what other people consider high and low points in there life, there's a real feeling of continuity and amity among a community of people who feel there own life is a mess. Caldwells essays were funny, engaging and at times emotionally confronting, and I'll admire anyone willing to be that honest about anything.

I haven't been doing these as much cus social media is hard to do when you do it at work all day 🙃🙃. Women by Chloe Caldwell is a lesbian novella I finished very quickly and liked instantly. You'll feel like you're having some kind of dalliance with the book because it's so immediate and entangling, sensuous and obsessive. Read it in your room with your hitachi very close 🎀💅🏻. It's probably weird that I'm naked with this book because I have taken Chloe's writing classes, and she's gonna see this, but whatever. Sorry, Chloe! P.S. This copy is fucked cus I let a bunch of people borrow it 💁🏼. Two new titles from Short Flight / Long Drive: Legs Get Led Astray by Chloe Caldwell, a provocative collection of essays that vividly rockets the reader through one woman’s life. PERSON/A by Elizabeth Ellen is about the complexities of being a woman, an artist, a mother, and a wife; a novel about persona and obsession and loyalty and repression. #elizabethellen #persona #legsgetledastray #lgls #chloecaldwell #hobart #essay #shortflightlongdrive #art #books #feminism #londonbookshop #artbookshop #independentbookshop #indiebookshop #artbookshop http://ift.tt/2za5a2N

My messy #maytbr. I have many conflicting priorities for this month. First there are three books here for #readtheworld21: PARADISE OF THE BLIND has been on my shelves for ages, WE, THE SURVIVORS I ordered just for this challenge, and WICKED AS YOU WISH I actually bought for my teen, but when I saw the author is from the Philippines I stole it (temporarily). I am trying to read at least two poetry collections per month, so TRICKSTER FEMINISM, but I haven’t decided on another yet. Then there are a bunch of small indie press books that I have been compulsively ordering lately, and so I picked out a few of those — THE SNOW COLLECTORS, HOMESICK, CRADLE AND GRAVE, and WOMEN. AN ELEGANT DEFENSE is really because we are in the middle of a pandemic, and THE BATTLE OF THE LABYRINTH is because I have been in a YA/MG mood lately. As you can see, there are a lot of impulses that may cause me to jump wildly off of this tentative TBR, but that’s okay with me. The only book I will actually be disappointed in myself for if I don’t get it read is PARADISE OF THE BLIND. Of course I have no intention of starting with it first. . . #somanybookssolittletime #bookstack #tbr #women #chloecaldwell #thebattleofthelabyrinth #rickriordan #cradleandgrave #anyaow #homesick #ninocipri #thesnowcollectors #tinamayhall #anelegantdefense #mattrichtel #annewaldman #tricksterfeminism #wickedasyouwish #rinchupeco #wethesurvivors #tashaw #paradiseoftheblind #duongthuhuong https://www.instagram.com/p/B_sfzKAggeD/?igshid=124h6o5x0d5ts
