Author’s Notes:
This story dives into the complexities of trauma and the simple, powerful ways love can help navigate through dark moments. Halloween in Metropolis brings both fun and challenges for Jason and Chloe, showcasing a blend of light-hearted moments and deep emotional struggles. Thank you for reading and for your continued support!
Halloween may be just a typical Tuesday night for cities like Gotham. Still, in Metropolis, the big apricot can be just as scary. Within in good fun, of course. Ghostly hymns and music played on the streets, people dressed down in their scariest costumes. Kids took the chance to become superheroes; who knew the costume stores sold that many Superman capes? Amira wore a slim, hugging black dress and long black hair draped down her back. She hung the Halloween wreath on the door, decorating the apartment.
"Mommy, look at me!" a voice shouted. Chloé stood in front of Amira. She twirled in her little witch's dress, its whimsical costume in a dark purple and green color scheme. Her layered skirt with petal-like edges in a purple gradient twirled with her.
"You look amazing, but wait- something's missing?" Amira exclaimed. Chloé looked confused about what could have been missing from her ensemble.
"What, mommy?"
"You can't be a witch without your hat," Amira responded, holding out a tiny witch's headband; she placed it on Chloé's head, her soft curls bouncing as she finally felt like a witch.
"Now you're ready, why don't you go get your basket, and we'll start to head out," Amira suggested, prompting an excitable Chloé to run off to find her basket.
She smiled briefly as she watched Chloé run off so happily that she didn't notice the sense of a new presence in her home. Arms wrapped securely around her waist, she felt her heart sink; turning around, she let out a breath of relief, seeing it was only Jason; he cupped her cheek and gave Amira a quick kiss.
"You forgot you gave me a key here?" He teased lightly
"To be honest? Yeah, I sorta did," Amira whispered as she embarrassingly confessed; she kissed Jason's lips briefly, her body pressed against his, her arms against his neck, causing Jason to subconsciously wince. Noticing Amira turned his head, moving his jacket collar to reveal a nasty deep cut around the side of his neck
"It's fine, I'm alright," Jason murmured; Amira still stared at his neck, her fingers temptingly flinching, trying to touch it without harming Jason.
"I'll see what I can do about it tonight," Amira said, knowing he couldn't change Amira's mind. Jason nodded his head.
"Where's Chlo?" he asked. Like rubbing a genie's lamp, Chloé appeared and rushed to the living room. When she saw Jason, she ran straight into his arms, ecstatic.
"Daddy!" Chloé cried out. Jason gritted through the pain as Chloé's arms were wrapped around Jason's neck. He laughed and smiled as he held onto Chloé as tightly as she did with him. Smiling at both of them, Amira kissed them both on the cheek. The mood seemed perfect and light-hearted until Amira looked down at her phone, crestfallen.
"What's wrong?" Jason asked
"I'm being called in to work tonight," Amira declared. Chloé appeared sad and reached out for Amira to hold her.
"Mommy, you promised," Chloé pleaded, tears prickling. Amira held Chloé's head to her chest, heartbroken as she wanted to enjoy Halloween with Chloé so severely. Watching Amira's saddened face and Chloé's defeated expression, a thought perverted Jason's mind.
"What if I take Chloé out?" Jason suggested, making Amira look almost shocked when Jason mentioned the idea. Meanwhile, Chloé seemed happy once more.
"Are you sure?"
"I am," Jason insisted
Mouthing, "thank you." Amira put Chloé down and went to her room to change
"Here, Daddy, I made a map of where to get the most candy," Chloé chimed. She handed Jason a hand-drawn map of the Metropolis with a red circle over neighborhoods and the daily planet.
"What's at the Daily Planet?" Jason asked
"Their have a party for Starlight students!" Amira chimed, "They have candy, juice, and a bouncy house," Chloé added; Amira changed from her Morticia Addams costume to a more professional look, consisting of a cream blazer over a cobalt blue top paired with a matching cream skirt.
"I think I liked you better in black, but this isn't too bad," Jason complimented, kissing Amira's forehead. He handed Amira her keys.
"Thank you. Have fun at the party," Amira said, leaving the father-daughter duo to their own devices.
•••
Jason and Chloé traveled through the city using Chloé's map. First, they took a ferry to St. Martin's Island, home to the wealthiest, most established families. As Chloé skipped around with her candy bag aimlessly, Jason looked around at the houses, how each mansion had a thousand stairs and a long pathway just to get to the front door, rolling his eyes at the ludicrous amount of wealth, these people had, but he did smile at the fact that even as Chloé was still just a child, she possessed a remarkable sense of business at least kidlike to know where the best candy is at. Pointing to one house, Chloé took her dad's hand and stood in line.
"Watch it, pipsqueak," a boy called out, laughing at his remark; he pushed Chloé out of the way. He looked around 12 years old and dressed like a mummy; Chloé seemed to brush the boy's remarks to the side, still holding Jason's hand as she waited. Jason, however, eyes glared in the back of the boy's head, but he cast his anger away for Chloé's sake.
"Trick or Treat, trick or treat, Give me something good to eat. Not too healthy, make it sweet; please, let me just rot my teeth," Chloé sang; she held her bag open for the older woman.
"Oh, how sweet. You young lady deserve two pieces," the older woman praised. Chloé smiled gratefully as she picked two pieces; thinking she was done, she almost walked off before Jason held her hand, chiding her for more candy.
"She sang the adorable song for you, and she said please. Don't see many kids with manners nowadays, right?" Jason interjected; the older woman thought for a moment and smiled, agreeing with him
"You’re right, young lady. Take another piece sweetie," she said
"Thank you!" Chloé beamed; as Chloé walked off, she counted her candy bag, which was almost full to the brim, smiling at the big haul she had, unaware of the bully in her midst.
"Looks like you got a lot of candy," a boy taunted. Chloé looked up and saw the same mummy boy that pushed ahead of her at the house, this time with another boy dressed as a vampire.
"Thank you," Chloé replied innocently, unaware of the boy's sarcasm
"You're so small, you could never finish it," the mummy boy jeered, snatching the bag from Chloé's hand. He pushed her back, causing her to fall and scraped her knee
"Knock it off, Tyler, just give the kid the bag," the vampire boy interjected sternly.
"Give it back!" Chloe demanded, her voice breaking with sobs as she stood up to the bully, her anger flaring despite her tears.
"Dude, why are you scared? She's just a dumb baby," Tyler asked; the vampire boy looked terrified, looking up at the figure that was just behind Tyler; Jason loomed over the boy, grabbing him by the strings of his costume; Jason was so consumed by anger he forgot that he was grabbing a boy even if he was acting like a little twerp.
"Apologize to the little girl, now," Jason demanded; Tyler looked frozen in fear as Jason put him down and faced him toward Chloé.
"Sorr– Sorry," he stammered, handing Chloé back her bag. He attempted to run away before he felt Jason's forceful pressure on his shoulder.
"Put your candy in her bag," Jason coaxed
"But– her bag is already full,"
"I don't care. Figure it out then," Jason remarked. Jason had Chloé open her bag and watched as Tyler began putting his candy in it. Tears prickled from Tyler's eyes as he pushed his candy down Chloé's overflowing bag. At the same time, Jason stood, arms folded with a wisecracking grin.
As Jason helped Chloé up to her feet, she watched as Tyler started to cry and looked at his now half-empty bag. Looking at her bag, she walked up to the boy.
"Here you go," Chloé said. She held a handful of candy in her hand and put it back into the boy's bag.
"Thank you," Tyler said as he and the other boy walked off, wincing slightly back to Jason's side. He smiled at how kindhearted his daughter was; she was so much different than he was, even if someone was a jerk to her. Picking her up, Jason and Chloé went to the ferry back to the mainland, taking her to a 24-hour clinic to get patched up.
"How are you doing kiddo?" Jason asked
"Better," Chloé responded, and the two started a walk downtown.
People dressed in costumes just laughed and enjoyed the spooky atmosphere of the night; even Jason was feeling the spirit. Until–
"Boo!" A man said he was dressed like a clown in colorful attire, like him, with a painted smile, like him.
Jason looked panicked, his heart accelerating in his chest. He watched as the clown walked back to his friends, laughing.
"That laugh, it sounds like- like him," he thought,
"You see how I scared the big one? Looks like he shit his pants," the man joked, laughing among his friends who cackled too.
That laugh sounded like him; he grabbed Chloé's hand, walking steadfastly.
"Daddy?" Chloé said; assuming she had called out to him in fear; he picked her up holding her closely to him. He was running like he was running a marathon but his lungs gave a different story. Shallow quick breaths were the only thing keeping him from feeling like he was dying. He continued to run but it's harder to escape your own mind. It made it more challenging, with them only being thoughts and images in his mind, the one place he couldn't run from. He found himself in Centennial Park; his eyesight was beginning to get blurry, moving over to a green blurb that looked vaguely like a park bench.
He sat hunched over, head hung low at his hand rested on his face, his hand shaking.
"Dad?" Chloé said, starting to look worried for her father. Jason always responded the first time she called him, but it was like he couldn't hear her; no matter how many times she called his name, he couldn't hear anything. Chloé looked around the park, trying to gauge her surroundings and find help; she didn't know what to do, so she did the only thing she knew.
She hugged him. She didn't know what to say but knew what to do. She hugged as tightly as her little arms could. Jason took a deep breath, though it felt like it hurt to even breathe.
Jason's eyes were closed tightly his entire life he felt he was being plunged into a black hole clawing his way out. The raised J branding gave the sensation of burning like it had just happened yesterday. Feeling his daughter's arms around him, it felt as though that blackness was losing in its battle with the light. He focused on that light, focused on what he could hear: people talking, children saying trick or treat, people laughing; not just the laughter of him but of people enjoying themselves and each other, he opened his eyes and began focusing on what he could see: pumpkins with crudely drawn faces, couples holding hands, leaves falling from the trees. He took a deep breath before looking at Chloé who had been quiet all this time still hugging him. Lifting her on his lap, he held her patting her head. Laying back on the bench, Jason let out a breath, then he looked down at that small little frame holding him. He kissed Chloé's forehead and held her close.
"How did I get lucky with you?" Jason thought.
Chloé ended up taking a nap against Jason. With his heart beating settling, he sat back for a moment. Looking to his right, he saw that the Daily Planet was straight ahead. Picking Chloé up, Jason walked over, showing Chloé's student ID. He walked into the party to find kids laughing and running around.
"Princess, we're here," Jason said softly. Rubbing her eyes, she took in her surroundings. She saw all her friends, games and activities, a snack table with so much food she couldn't believe it, and most of all, the bouncy house.
"Go have fun," Jason said, putting Chloé down. She rushed off to her friend's side, and they all went to play.
As Jason went to sit by the other parents, he checked his phone to find a new message from Amira.
Amira:
How's the party at the Daily Planet? I wish I could be there with you all :'(
Jason:
Me too. The party is fine, doll. Chloé is bouncing off in the air as we speak.
Amira:
Good, the more she jumps, the more tired she'll be tonight. Send pictures! Have fun, and thanks, Jay. I owe you 🩷
Jason:
I'll make sure to collect my fee from you tonight.
Will send you pictures by the pound. <3
Jason:
1 new photo!
3 new photos!
Turning off his phone, he started talking with some of the parents. One woman was decked out in so many pearls that she looked like she'd just raided Poseidon's jewelry box.
As the party started to dwindle, Chloé walked over to Jason, dragging her candy bag, which had become too heavy for her to carry behind her.
"Let me hold that for you, and let's get home," Jason said. Holding the candy bag and Chloé's hand, they took the Metropolis City bus back to the apartment.
Once they got home, Chloé's excitement was slowly running out of steam. She yawned profusely. Jason helped her out of her costume, got her changed into her pajamas, tucked her into bed, and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Closing the door softly, Jason went to the living room and turned the TV on to watch a movie. He tried to wait until Amira came home, but getting tired himself, he fell asleep.
As she finally got home, Amira smiled, watching a tired Jason listen to his soft snores. Taking her heels off, she went to the bathroom and retrieved her first aid kit. Taking another look at his neck, she applied an ointment, causing Jason to squirm slightly in his sleep.
She applied gauze and some medical tape to his neck, kissing his forehead; looking down, she saw Jason's hand had found its way to her thigh.
"I thought you were asleep," Amira teased, her smile softening as she noticed Jason's brief glance.
"Mmh—I was... waiting for you," Jason murmured sleepily; his voice a weary mumble as he confessed, half in slumber. Taking him by the hand, she moved Jason to her bedroom so he could actually sleep comfortably.
They both changed, Amira into her tank top and shorts and Jason into pajama pants. The second Jason was in bed, he went to sleep again, his snores seeming even louder in the bedroom. Amira snuggled next to him, her hand placed on his chest as she went to sleep.
Endnotes:
I meant to get this out on Halloween but forgot! Well since it's Fall anyways you can read this when you're in spooky mood.

7 for Deckerstar please? (Either one would be good!)
7. I don’t think she noticed my new haircut
I gave the line to Lucifer cause I 100% believe he would instantly notice a haircut on Chloe.
.
He leaves the bed early, an appointment alert pinging his phone. 9am with Pedro. He dresses quickly and presses a kiss to Chloe's head. She grumbles at him and he makes sure to start the coffee machine for her on his way out.
Pedro is delighted to see him, a quick brush of lips to each cheek before he directs him over to the chair.
"What are we doing for you today, Mr. Morningstar?"
"I trust you, Pedro, do your worst."
The man grins and picks up the scissors.
Lucifer gets a text message from Chloe forty five minutes later. They've caught a case. He texts a reply that he will join her shortly. Predro finishes up and dusts off his neck. He gives Lucifer a spin and he examines his reflection. The length has been reduced quite a bit and the lack of product has caused the hair to curl just slightly. It's a far cry from his cherubic locks of his youth with how close it's cropped and for that he's grateful. It looks good.
He gives Pedro a lingering cheek press and slips a ridiculous tip into the man's pocket. The drive to the crime scene is conveniently nearby and it's not long until he's striding over to Chloe, chest puffed out.
"Hey, Lucifer." Chloe is crouched over the corpse.
"Detective." He waits for her to look up, but she's focused.
Ella gives them the details and he cracks a joke or two and then offers up something actually useful. By the time Chloe looks his way, he's feeling somewhat neglected. He waits for her to say something but her sunglasses mask any reaction.
There's still no comment by the time they've regrouped at the precinct, speaking of suspects and leads. They sit together at the conference table, looking over the case files.
He tilts his head, showing off his new style. Chloe glances over, holds her eyes there for a moment, and then looks away, face blank.
Lucifer deflates.
He works alongside her for the next few hours and then retreats to Ella's lab, something sorrowful in his chest.
"Hey, buddy, why the long face? You need a hug?" She hops up, arms wide and ready.
"That's quite all right, Ms. Lopez." He takes a half step back and she gracefully gives him space, limbs falling back to her side. "It's just, I got a bit of a trim, you see." He runs a hand over his hair. "And Chloe, well, I don’t think she noticed my new haircut."
"Oh! I thought it was a bit shorter," Ella supplies. "And it's not all foofy today."
"Foofy?" Lucifer repeats, indignant.
"Yeah, you know, at the front." She mimics the absolutely perfect coif he usually sports.
Chloe taps the glass on the lab and both of them turn to look at her. "You ready to go home?" she asks.
"Yes, Detective." Lucifer straightens his cuffs. "Well. Thank you for the enlightening conversation, Ms. Lopez."
"Sure thing. Have fun you two."
Lucifer follows Chloe out to the parking garage, sliding into the passenger side of her cruiser. He stares out the window, forlorn. Perhaps it simply isn't that noticeable?
Chloe looks over at him now and then, but the ride is mostly silent, wrapped in their own thoughts. They pull up to the apartment and she puts the car in park. Then she leans over and runs her fingers through his hair. Frissions of sensation follows. He can't help but tip into it a little.
"Did you get that done this morning before work?"
He blinks. "You noticed."
She gives him a look. "Of course, I noticed." Her touch slides into his hair further and grips. "I like it." A gentle pull tips his head back, lengthening his throat. A slow heat blooms in his belly.
"You didn't say anything about it."
Her nails dig in a little bit. A small sound curls in his chest, but stays there, caught. "I didn't want to be distracted," she answers. "Come inside and I'll...appreciate it more fully."
Lucifer unbuckles his seat belt quickly and darts towards the apartment. Chloe grins and follows him at a more relaxed pace.

Moral of the Story (Prologue)
Series Summary: From childhood friends, to highschool sweethearts, the two naive, young, and lovestruck teens decided the best way to keep a strong relationship during college would be to marry right out of highschool. No one batted an eye at the idea as everyone knew they were soulmates. However, college is a big step in a person’s life. You learn new things about yourself, you make new friends, find new hobbies… And maybe being newly weds and going to different colleges across the states wasn’t the best plan… After a falling out, and a tragic heartbreaking divorce, the two now hold grudges for how the other handled the whole thing in the past. Neither not really knowing both sides of the story. 10 years later, and they both get a call from the lawyers office that settled their divorce. Somehow the papers never went through and the divorce was never completed. So now, the exes, or should we say husband and wife, have to meet back up after all these years to settle their failed marriage once and for all. (This summary will be shorter in other chapters. I just needed to get the full concept out there;)
A/N (repeat): So the other day while I was doing my hair (quite the process), I was playing music and the song Moral of the Story by Ashe came on. Mind you, I’ve heard this song hundreds of times, but for some reason, this time I got a major story idea! Listening to the lyrics brought me to this new series. Of course, the lengthy summary above will give you an idea of what came to my brain, but I recommend you listen to the song still because it plays a big part in my thought process:) (Plus it’s a good song;) Enjoy and please do not hesitate to share your thoughts and comments with me! I love each and every single one<3
(I will release the first chapter at the beginning of next week! That way I can give myself some time to write more chapters before sharing it!)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Y/N (Modern AU)
Word Count: 1200+
Prologue:
"Melody, have the papers for the Bee's Knees company come in yet?"
"Uh, no. But I can call them again and see if they faxed it or sent over a physical copy though," Melody answered from her desk, already typing away to find the company.
"Perfect. We have a meeting with a recycling plant next week and I want to get everything set before we go in with them," Y/N nodded, coming out from her office with a file in her hands. She turned to her assistant at the front desk who was about 20 emails deep and already finding the issue. "Hey, you're not coming in tomorrow, right?"
"Um, no, no. I am. I rescheduled that date," she answered bashfully as if she had been caught in the act of something.
"Melody..." Y/N drug out, hand on her hip.
"What? I- He understood. He said he was fine moving it to Saturday," the young woman shrugged, never looking back at her boss that was clearly sending her a motherly stare.
"You're already over your 40 hours this week, and you've rescheduled with him, what? 3 times now?" Y/N moved to the front of the desk so the young brunette had to make eye contact with her.
"Yes," she answered hesitantly.
"Is it just nerves or something else?" Y/N smirked.
"I'm not nervous... It's just been a while since I've had time for a date."
"Two things about what you just said in the past minute. One, clearly this guy likes you because he's rescheduled with you this many times and hasn't called it off yet. So if you're nervous about it not going well on his end, I think you're safe," Y/N pointed a finger at her.
"But-," Melody started.
"Second," Y/N cut off with a raised eyebrow. "I'm giving you time to go on a date and you're still not taking it. Work is no longer an excuse."
Melody stopped avoiding eye contact and looked up at the Y/H/C hair woman leaning on her reception desk.
"You've been talking with my mom again, haven't you?" she sighed.
"I promised I'd take care of you. So yes, I have. And though her reasoning for you dating is because she wants grandbabies, I just want you to have fun and live your life. You're 22. Don't waste your young years being scared."
"Ugh, fine. I'll text him now and see if he's still available for tonight," she groaned.
"Perfect!" Y/N grinned in victory as she started to walk back to her office. "I expect the details in the morning," she winked before she walked in.
"Oh, Y/N!" Melody stopped her. "A message came for you while you were in that last meeting."
"Who from?" Y/N quirked an eyebrow, moving back to the desk.
"Uh, I don't really know. Didn't sound familiar, but here's the name and number they said to call back from," she answered, handing her a note.
Y/N took the small paper and looked it over. Her face dropped and her eyes widened.
"You ok? Is it someone you know?" the young assistant asked, noticing what looked like horror on her face.
"Um, yeah. Yeah, an old acquaintance of mine," Y/N tried to quickly brush off. "Um, I'm going to take this. Can you hold any calls and if anyone comes to talk, tell them to just email me?"
"Oh, ok. Yeah, I'll take care of it," Melody nodded.
"Thank you."
Rushing back to her office and quickly shutting her door, she raced to her phone. She read the business name again, not sure if she was dreaming or if it was a hallucination.
Nope. Hammer Attorney was written in Melody's perfect penmanship on the paper with a number that held an area code from New York. A place she never thought she would hear from again and from a town she hadn't visited in almost 10 years._________________
"Buck, did you tell Fury about getting those new water therapy machines?" Steve shouted from his room.
"We're at home, Steve. Why are we talking about work?" Bucky groaned as he slouched on the couch. A beer in hand and a documentary with I Survived stories playing in front of him.
Steve came in from around the corner looking down at his phone in hand before moving his eye line to his roommate.
"Because I just got a call from the night crew saying that the last one that was working, finally went out tonight while they were running it for some test," Steve raised an eyebrow.
"Ugh, you would think that a facility run by a billionaire who literally makes his money on high-tech machines, wouldn't have to ask for those kinds of things," Bucky groaned, grabbing his own phone and going through emails. "Let me check to see if the email went through. He wasn't in office when I went to tell him."
As he was sorting through the hundreds of emails sent back and forth just this week alone, he found the reply message.
"Yeah, management confirmed it. They should be in by Saturday it looks like. Guess Stark was still working out the kinks to a new one and was waiting to send one our way until the last one died to get more time on his newest model."
Steve nodded before walking to the kitchen and typing Bucky's response to the other crew members.
"The man is always finding new ways to upgrade them before he can even send them to us."
Just as Bucky was about to throw his phone to the side again though, it started ringing. Looking at the caller ID, he didn't recognize the unknown number. It was from in-state but in his hometown area of Brooklyn. He pinched his eyebrows together confused at the call, but answered it anyway, thinking it must be someone from home.
"Hello?"
"Hello. Is this Mr. Barnes?" The other voice answered.
"Yes, this is him. Who's this?" he asked, sitting up a little and putting the beer on the end table.
"My name is Matthew Murdock. I work at Nelson and Murdock Law firm," he went on. Bucky shook his head not knowing what that was supposed to mean. "Well, you may actually know us previously as Hammer Attorney. We recently just took over their business after some fraud issues."
Bucky's heart stopped. He knew what that name meant.
"I hate to inform you, but we were going through some of their old files. Ones we were informed could be incomplete or done completely incorrectly due to little care in the actual cases, but more so in taking the money."
"Incomplete cases?" Bucky said softly. His brain was still trying to wrap around the conversation.
"Yes, unfortunately, it looks like a lot of cases having to deal with divorces that the past owners handled, were done strictly in order to launder money. They weren't actually certified, nor trained in handling divorce settlements."
Bucky froze. Eyes wide. Mouth agape.
He stuttered out a response when the man on the other line didn't continue.
"A-And talking about incomplete divorce settlements, you called because..." Bucky knew. He needed to hear it out loud because if he didn't, it wasn't true. It couldn't be.
"I'm so sorry Mr. Barnes, but it looks as though you and your wife, Y/N Y/L/N or sorry, Y/N Barnes, are actually not divorced."
(I will release the first chapter at the beginning of next week! That way I can give myself some time to write more chapters before sharing it!)

***
Beca groans as she rolls over in bed. Her head is killing her and her mouth feels dry as sandpaper.
She winces as she props herself up on her elbows and surveys the room. The bed is empty, save for Bandit, who is curled up by her feet and snoring softly. There’s a glass of ice water and two Advils sitting on her bedside table, and she sits up properly to take the pills before draining the glass.
Last night was… What was last night?
She closes her eyes as she leans back against the headboard, trying to piece the evening together. Happy hour with her coworkers… those stupid flaming shots that Caleb always makes them take… Ubering home with Alicia… eating her weight in macaroni…
There’s something else she should remember, and she can feel it, nagging and elusive on the tip of her tongue. But before it comes to her she hears the keys in the front door. Bandit practically trips over himself as he leaps off the bed and sprints out of the room to greet his favorite parent.
Beca gets it, though. If her head wasn’t throbbing so much she’d be running out to see Chloe, too.
Luckily Chloe comes straight back to their room, and it’s the most welcome sight Beca has ever seen.
Because she’s carrying two large iced cold brews from Beca’s favorite coffee shop.
“Dude, oh my god,” Beca says as Chloe hands her one of the coffees. “You are a literal angel.”
Part of Beca wants to go on and on about how much she appreciates her, but she has to attend to her more pressing need of getting caffeine into her body. She takes several sips of iced coffee as Chloe climbs back into bed, cuddling up next to Beca. It takes Bandit a couple of running starts, but eventually he makes it back on the bed, too.
“How are you feeling?”
Chloe gently cards her fingers through Beca’s hair before tucking a few strands behind her ear. Her hand comes to a rest on Beca’s shoulder, and she rubs her thumb soothingly along her neck and collarbone. Beca holds her coffee in her lap and closes her eyes, enjoying the sensation.
“Mmm,” she hums. “Much better now.”
“Do you remember last night?” Chloe asks, and Beca hears the smile in her voice.
“I was just trying to work that out.” Beca's head lolls against the headboard as Chloe’s hand skates along her shoulder, massaging just the right spots. “I remember drinking too much and missing you and the Uber ride and eating way too much mac and cheese. Although, that midnight snack probably saved me from an even worse hangover.”
Beca smiles to herself as she remembers stumbling through the front door last night to find Chloe sitting at the kitchen table in her pajamas, waiting for her with a piping hot bowl of macaroni.
To others -- to Chloe, even -- it might seem like a small gesture. But waiting up for her, cooking her favorite meal, leaving water and painkillers out for her, bringing her iced coffee in bed -- all of those little acts make Beca feel so valued, cared for, and loved.
That’s when she remembers the other thing that happened last night.
“What are you smiling about?” Chloe asks, scratching lightly at the nape of Beca’s neck.
Beca opens her eyes and turns toward her, heart fluttering in her chest.
“I meant it, you know,” she says quietly. “What I said last night. Or, what I texted, I guess.”
Chloe looks at her, brow furrowing for a few seconds before her features smooth in understanding. She runs her hand down Beca’s arm and closes her fingers loosely around her wrist.
“Becs…” she whispers, smiling softly.
“I mean, not right now,” Beca clarifies. “You were right -- we’ve only technically been together for two months. People would think we’re crazy. Especially your dad. God, I don’t even want to think about the look on his face…”
Chloe giggles and presses her lips to Beca’s shoulder.
“Besides,” Beca continues. “I want to wait until I make more money. So you can get your dream wedding.”
Chloe exhales sharply, and Beca understands. They’ve been on the subject for a minute or so, but this is the first time she’s uttered a marriage-specific word, and something about saying it outloud makes everything feel more real.
“Beca,” Chloe whispers, kissing her shoulder again through the fabric of her t-shirt. She releases Beca’s wrist and laces their fingers together.
Beca places her iced coffee on her bedside table. She wipes her free hand on the sheets before cradling Chloe’s cheek. Beca knows her fingers are cold, but Chloe leans into her touch, looking at her with glossy eyes.
“I’m just-- I’m putting you on notice, Beale.” Beca smiles at her, swallowing around the lump in her throat. “It might not be for a little while, but it’s coming. Just you wait.”
Chloe glances up at the ceiling, blinking rapidly, and Beca’s wondering if she said too much too soon when Chloe kisses her. Beca feels her bottom lip trembling against her mouth, and when she pulls away both of their faces are wet with Chloe’s tears. (Okay, some of Beca’s tears, too.)
“Oh, I’ll wait,” Chloe says, sniffling. “I’ll wait so hard.”

SOULMATE AU:: First Swap
Look who's back... That's right! Soulmate AU.
I intend to make a shortfic with five chapters, after finishing posting Bombshell (which already has the first of three chapters posted HERE)
Here they are 7 and their behavior may seem strange, but... Damian. So, yeah.
Soulmate AU:: 1 and 2.
1.4K
Maribat by @ozmav
Marinette was... irritated, so to speak, with Mlle. Bustier.
The woman had once again invalidated her feelings for Chloe. Chloe, who was being particularly mean to her, because she was jealous that Marinette had a soulmate, but she didn't.
Chloe had - as always - thrown a tantrum because Marinette had achieved a better grade than she in the test and didn’t shut up for a second until that moment.
Marinette's head was throbbing with the start of a monstrous headache.
“But Mlle. Bustier!” The blonde whined. "I'm sure Dupain-Cheng cheated!" The high-pitched voice resonated through the windowpanes and hurt the students' eardrums.
"Chloe, please." Mlle. Bustier asked, frowning, probably as irritated as the rest of the students.
Chloe snorted indignantly. "Then I will tell my-"
That was when Marinette felt the comforting presence at her side. Catching the movement with a quick look before she turned around completely so she could look at him better.
The skin kissed by the sun, black hair and short. He dressed like the shinobis she saw in the action movies that papa let her watch when mama wasn't around. Sitting in the chair that was previously available, there was an air of danger around him.
But what caught her attention most were his eyes. His eyes that matched hers perfectly, and he was beautiful.
"Thank you." He replied, his cheeks turning a shy pink.
Marinette squeaked, her hands rising automatically to cover her mouth, drawing the attention of Nino and Kim sitting across from her.
"Are you okay, MDC?" Kim asked.
She shook her head frantically. "If you say..." Nino replied suspiciously.
Marinette took her hands from her mouth to smile at them and so the two turned their attention to the interrupted conversation.
She looked at him again, feeling overwhelmed by the flood of information that hit her.
The world around them changing rapidly.
"Wow." Marinette sighs.
She looked at the breathtaking landscape.
The place they were in looked like a big Asian-style mansion on top of a mountain. She could see the clouds from the floor she was on and how the sun reflected against the rocks around the building.
It was breathtaking.
"I agree with you." He says, his eyes glued to her.
A commotion attracts Marinette's attention.
Underneath where they were, she could see other people - Ghuls - in the same type of black clothes as he was, training with katanas and their face covered.
The League of Assassins. Heir. Batman. Damian.
"Oh." She turns to look at him again. An unknown feeling burning in her chest and a lump stuck in her throat.
Her eyes start to burn, a sob escaping without her permission. "I-" Tears clouded her vision, wanting to-
He- Damian, spread his arms, an intelligible expression on his face and a guilty glint in his eyes.
She didn't hesitate for a second before jumping into his arms.
Finally. Finally, she was able to touch, see, smell him, melt against the heat of his body, unite with him.
"I'm so happy." She sniffs against his neck. “I've been so worried about you! Always hurting yourself and- the pains I felt coming from you...!”
Damian tightens his arms around her.
"I'm fine, ya rouhi (my soul)." He responds smoothly.
Marinette violently denies it. "No, you're not!"
“I am- now I am. You don't have to worry anymore.” Damian whispers against her shoulder.
She smiles at the choice of words, her heart warming more and more. It was like the sky, like she was floating with clouds. She never wanted it to end.
“Mlle. Bustier, Maritrash is being scary!” Chloe's voice frightens Marinette and she moves away from Damian back to the classroom, where everyone is looking at her strangely.
Chloe wags her finger at her, tapping her foot on the floor.
"She's talking strange and smiling like a lunatic!"
Beside Marinette, Damian snorts angrily. "She's just annoying."
"I know. Most of the time I just ignore her, you know? Like a persistent fly.” The girl responds, an acid touch in the words.
Chloe gasps, knowing that Marinette was talking about her.
“Mlle. Bustier!” She whimpers.
The teacher sighs tiredly with Chloe's tantrums and the way Marinette was dealing with it. She, better than anyone, knew that it was not right to disrupt others because she was frustrated.
"Marinette, apologize to Chloe." Bustier asks. "You were rude with your words."
The girl looks at the teacher in disbelief and Chloe smiles convinced.
"But I didn't do anything!" She complains. "Chloe who's being stupid again!"
Everyone in the classroom chokes on Marinette's words. Chloe starts to cry and Bustier gets up from her seat scandalized.
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" She slaps her hand on the table. "Apologize right now or I will be forced to call your parents at school!" Threatened.
Most of Marinette's classmates were unable to notice the change in the girl's appearance or how her posture had hardened. Not even the change in the girl's eye color was noticed.
Only Kim, Nino - who were sitting closest to her -, Sabrina who knew Marinette and Mlle. Bustier, who, despite everything, was very observant.
'Marinette' leaned back against the back of the seat, her lips pressed in a thin line, her eyes - both green, but with different hues - cold as ice and her hair had darkened to a glossy black.
"I hope that this attitude will be taken not only towards me, but with the annoying girl as well." She says.
"Annoying girl?" Chloe mutters incredulously.
"Why would I do that?" Mlle. Bustier replies. "The only person I see being rude is you."
Marinette throws her head back and laughs sarcastically before looking back at the teacher. The face as hard as stone.
"That was a good joke, mademoiselle." She stands up, arms crossed behind her. "That-" She stops as if she's hearing something. “Chloe, right. She has been distracting everyone since you started class. Making meaningless complaints or just whining and so far, I haven't seen you scold her for it.”
Mlle. Bustier swallows.
"B-But-"
“No ‘buts’!” Marinette cuts the woman. "It gets special treatment just for being the daughter of politician, is it?"
Chloe tosses her hair over her shoulders, arms crossed. “My father is the new mayor of Paris. Mayor! He rules everything, so do I!”
Marinette makes an 'hm' sound without opening her mouth, looking critically from Chloe to Bustier - who had a greenish tinge to her face -.
"It will be something to tell the parents of Dupont students, then." There is a dangerous edge to the girl's tone. "Imagine the scandal that will be when the word comes out that the mayor of Paris and his daughter, has power over the way the school is run"
Marinette smiled and went down the stairs towards Chloe.
Mlle. Bustier sighs at the sweet girl's behavior. Understanding coming to her.
"You are not Marinette." She says.
The girl smiles, an evil look in her eyes.
"Bingo!" She claps excitedly. “I thought you were more stupid. I was sincerely concerned about the school education that habibit is receiving.”
The students made protest sounds with the girl's harsh words, but the look she sent them made everyone freeze in their seats quickly shutting up.
"Who are you-" Chloe fumbles, shocked by the color of Marinette's eyes.
"I think you'd better be quiet, Bourgeois." Non-Marinette says. "Otherwise, you will discover one of the many ways I know how to cut a person's tongue." She makes mimics a scissor with her fingers, without taking her eyes off Chloe.
The blonde's eyes widen in fright.
“Or who knows, one day you may wake up bald... There are many options on the table. I can even let you choose.” Non-Marinette taps her finger against her chin thoughtfully.
Chloe walks away. Hands quickly going to the head, trying to protect the hair away from Marinette.
"I-I don't feel well." Mumbles, picking up the yellow bag from the table. "I think I'm going to go home... Daddy will call dismissing me... Bye!" She doesn't wait for Mlle Bustier's response before running out of the classroom.
Non-Mari smiled beatifically, enjoying the whole scene of the girl's escape and staying until Chloe was out of sight. Then the expression darkened when her attention turned to Bustier.
"You and I are going to have a very serious conversation now."
And Mlle. Bustier swallows, feeling threatened by the girl's words.

could you do another fic where mari has too many overprotective relatives (batfam, jason in particular, adrien, luka, kagami, chloe, jagged, bruce, penny, clara, tony stark and the avengers maybe lol) and all the boys who want to date her are scared away by them until she starts seeing damian or someone else i love your writing and thanks! ♡♡
I loved this prompt immediately and I really hope I did it justice! Hope you like it!
The Never-Ending Cycle of First Dates
“No! Wait! He’s just kidding!” Marinette ran out of the building trying to grab the boy's hand before he could escape, but she was too late. Her hand slapped her forehead in defeat as yet another man hurried off before they could even order drinks. Turning her attention to where her target stood, she couldn’t help the bubbling anger directed at his smirk.
“Why must you ruin every date? It’s like you guys have a pool of names and you just reach in and see who's in luck to scare off the next guy that tries to date me!” She threw her hands into the air, only earning a chuckle.
“C’mon Princess, if the man can’t handle a little threat then how is he gonna stick around for the long term? Hmm?”
Marinette wanted to argue, but she knew it was pointless. Jason and the others were firm in their beliefs; Marinette must be protected from heartbreak at all costs. She tried arguing with them that if she never got hurt in the first place then she could never learn, but alas, her words seemed to fall on deaf ears.
“How did you even find us?”
Jason’s smirk widened which only fueled her rage.
“What? You thought meeting at the restaurant would actually change anything? I can find you anywhere and everywhere. Plus Adrien totally snitched.”
Marinette made a mental note to lay into Adrien later after she found the poor kid that Jason scared of.
“One day I’m going to find someone who isn’t scared by you lot and he’s gonna make it through the first date.”
She turned her back on Jason’s boisterous laughter. She was determined to prove her point. After all, there had to be one man in Gotham City that wasn’t afraid of her, right? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The rest of her week had gone as smoothly as Monday had to say the least.
Tuesday’s date was crashed by Kagami’s foil. One look at her slicing the bread and he didn’t even make it to the table.
Wednesday’s date was a double date with Luka and Chloe. Marinette begged Tikki to lend her a little luck, but the small God would do no such thing. At least this guy made it past drinks. Marinette almost cheered until Luka donned his infamous stare. She watched as her date squirmed uncomfortably before excusing himself for the bathroom, never returning.
Thursday’s date ended with the man strung up by his ankles, none other than Nightwing and Red Robin dropping in to apologize, claiming they thought he was trying to mug her.
By Friday, she was ready to cancel her date before it even began.
“Adrien, you guys are making it impossible to even think about dating.” She collapsed on the couch, letting out a small whine.
“I think that’s kind of the point Mari, besides, you’re a working woman now, shouldn’t you be focusing on your career-”
Adrien paused as his eyes narrowed in on Marinette’s hand mocking his lecture. Her hand paused as she noticed his now silent voice. Meeting his eyes, she simply shrugged.
“You sound like my mom. She’s worried that I’m too worried about dating but guess what? I kind of missed out on that experience in high school pining after a guy who wasn’t even interested!”
They both chuckled as they remembered the awkward dance they both did from the time they were 13.
“So what are you going to do about the date tonight?”
Marinette shrugged once more as she pulled at a piece of her hair, twirling it around her finger.
“Who is on date duty tonight?”
“First of all, it’s not called date duty,” he waved off the pointed look Marinette gave him before continuing, “and it was supposed to be Jagged and Penny but in case they fail, Tony is on backup duty and Jason is on backup, backup duty.”
“Not date duty my ass.”
Marinette sighed longingly as she pulled herself into a sitting position.
“I’m giving this one more chance before I swear off dating forever.”
Adrien chuckled before offering his hand to pull her into a standing position.
“Well, guess you better prepare to look good. After all, they always say if you’re gonna go out, at least do it in style.”
Marinette rolled her eyes as she pushed Adrien to the couch, ignoring his protests. If this was going to be her last date, then maybe he had a point of going out in style.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Marinette pulled at her dress nervously as a black limo approached her outside of her apartment. She had checked the perimeter once as Marinette and once more as Ladybug; there was no sign of Jagged or Penny. Somehow though, that didn’t calm her nerves.
As the limo pulled to a stop, a man stepped out of the back seat causing her breath to hitch in her throat. As if him being drop-dead gorgeous wasn’t enough, her worst fears stepped out from behind him, wide grins on their faces.
“Oi, there she is Penny! Marinette, we tried calling you but you sent us straight to voicemail, that wasn’t very rock n’ roll of you. Luckily, this nice man right here was there to give us a ride, right Penny?”
Penny nodded sweetly as if the two of them were innocent victims of Marinette’s forgetfulness. She wanted to turn right back into her apartment and never leave again, but a small hand grasped hers, pulling it up to their lips, as soft and gentle as his movements.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I have heard many stories of you from my brothers and father. You seem to have impressed many powerful people such as the two strays I picked up off the streets earlier.”
His smile was playful as it coaxed a small laugh from her. It helped even more to see Jagged panicking in the background at the sight of the small gesture. This man, no, his name was Damian. Damian had already broken through the first wall without even knowing it. Marinette let herself feel a spark of hope at the thought of finally making it through a first date.
“Anywho, now that we have arrived, I must apologize for leaving you two here, how does the saying go? ‘High and dry?’ but I do have a date to continue.” He nodded to Penny and Jagged leaving them both with their jaws almost touching the ground.
If she had a moment, Marinette might’ve taken a photo, but she instead quickly grabbed Damian’s arm, shutting the limo door before either could protest. She didn’t bother to release the breath she had been holding until the apartments were gone from the rearview mirror.
“I am so sorry about them, they-” she tried to let the apology spill out of her mouth but Damian simply shook his head, that same playful smile monopolizing his face.
“I am fully aware of the so-called ‘date duty’ your friends have. After all, my brother is in charge of the scheduling.”
It was Marinette’s turn for her jaw to drop. This was Jason’s brother? The literal spawn of satan as Jason had put it. There was no way. He was so nice, and such a gentleman, there was no way they could be the same person.
“How come nobody ever told me you were in town? Last time Jason introduced me to the family, he made sure to wait for when you left on a business trip. I’ve only ever been invited over when you’re not there!”
Damian chuckled as if this was a normal occurrence.
“They knew I had a crush on you ever since I watched your alter ego take down an akuma three times your size. It was only a matter of time until I asked you out, but with Jason observing your every date, he made it quite difficult.”
Marinette felt her face flush as his words washed over her. A man that was actually interested in her and was willing to take on the trouble a date with her could mean? She lightly pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.
“You know it’s only going to get worse from here right? Like, Jagged and Penny were only the first round worse.”
Damian leaned in, placing his hand overtop hers, that smile of his killing her slowly.
“Can I tell you a secret?”
Marinette nodded as she leaned closer, nearly closing the gap between them, her heart racing from the distance.
“I borrowed his rotation schedule and have prepared for every incident that could occur tonight.”
Marinette couldn’t help the words that slipped out of her mouth.
“I think I might love you.” Immediately she slapped her hand over her mouth letting out a string of apologies as she scooched away from the red-faced man. He cleared his throat, trying to overcome his shock as his smile pulled into a small smirk.
“Don’t apologize, just tell me again if you feel the same after we’ve finished the date.”
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Somehow, they managed to make it through dinner without a single hiccup. It was suspicious, but she was having too good of a time to care. She fell in love immediately with his animals as he showed off his many photos, commenting on whichever one seemed to make her melt the most.
They talked about where they had gone to college, where they were working now and what they were hoping for their futures. Marinette felt her heart swell with excitement for how compatible they were, it almost made tonight ending that much more painful.
As they stepped out of the restaurant, Marinette heard a familiar voice that made her blood run cold.
“Do you know who I am? I could buy this whole place and then you’d have to let me in! I’m the damn Ironman, doesn’t that count for something?”
The poor hostess was shaking her head, trying to apologize to the other guests for the wait he was causing. Marinette let out a defeated sigh as she took a step forward to intervene, but Damian’s hand intertwined with hers pulling her in the opposite direction.
“There aren’t too many places in Gotham City that Tony Stark isn’t banned from. However, you can thank my father for that. He agreed for me to host my dinner at his restaurant to nullify backup number 2, Tony Stark.”
Marinette almost wanted to laugh at the irony of a billionaire being banned from a small Italian restaurant in Gotham.
“There’s not much that Uncle Tony can’t fix by throwing money at it, but I suppose that’s pointless when it’s another billionaire causing the said problem.”
Damian sent her a wink that warmed her to her core. They decided to ditch the limo in favor of walking home, spending more time with each other coincidentally. Marinette felt her mind racing like she was in middle school once again planning her imaginary wedding and their future hamster.
He was everything she had hoped to find in a man and so much more. She honestly regretted not meeting him sooner, it would’ve saved her so much trouble over the years.
She opened her mouth, only to close it immediately as her eyes narrowed in on a figure leaning against her apartment building.
“Jason, what are you doing here? There’s no date to ruin now and I finally found a guy who can’t be scared off by your stupid date duty.”
She crossed her arms in defiance but Jason paid her no mind.
“Damian, I didn’t know you were home so soon. I would’ve locked you up in the Batcave to make sure this would’ve never happened.”
Damian scoffed beside her as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
“As if you could.”
The two men were locked in a staredown, leaving Marinette to wilt in the tension that had formed. She moved towards her apartment, only to be stopped by Damian’s hand for the third time tonight.
Turning her back to Jason, she watched as he brought her hand to his lips, his kiss still as gentle and soft as the first when he had given her hours earlier. She ignored Jason’s protest as she pulled his hand forward placing a quick peck on his lips.
The man’s face matched her own in shades of red.
“Does this mean you would be interested in a second date?”
Marinette nodded furiously before waving him goodnight, darting past Jason’s brooding figure.
“This is not the end of it Marinette!”
Jason’s threats felt empty compared to the excitement racing in her heart. She had finally broken the cycle of never-ending first dates and boy, did it feel good.

soulmate au?????
Soulmate Au where things that people love/hate appear tattooed on their soulmate’s body. If they love it it’ll be on their front, and if they hate it it’ll appear on their back. The more important it is the closer it is to the heart. They can also move around/disappear over time.
Tim Drake is two years old when he receives his first soulmarks. There are two: the names Sabine Cheng and Tom Dupain are found in elegant script over his heart.
He was alone when he’d found it, attempting to learn how to button up his shirt, and they’d sprung from his skin. He didn’t bother crying. He’d long since lost hope that someone would come for him if he did.
Instead, he’d waited for a maid to come into the room on her rounds and called her over.
The woman had smiled kindly as she explained soulmarks. How they were actually a good thing. How they meant that he was going to fall in love one day and one day he could get married! Like his mommy and daddy!
He’d seen how his mom and dad were sometimes. He wasn’t all that impressed.
Tim decided that the whole ‘soulmate’ thing could wait. He had a shirt to learn how to button.
~
On the other side of the world, however, Marinette Dupain Cheng is born without any tattoos on her body. Her parents don’t think much of it. She was just older than her soulmate, then. Or maybe she didn’t have one. That was fine.
But then, three years later, a computer appeared over her heart.
Marinette didn’t even notice until she was pulling off her shirt for a bath.
She hadn’t been shocked or scared like Tim had been, instead she’d beamed and waddled over to her mother with the widest grin on her face.
Maman! Maman! Look! I have a soulmark!”
Sabine had smiled and turned to look but, much to Marinette’s confusion, it quickly morphed into an anxious expression.
Then her mother brought the smile back and she figured it must have been her imagination. The woman had reached out to ruffle her hair.
Marinette had finished getting ready and gotten in the bath, and her mother looked her over for a soulmark as she cleaned her. But there wasn’t one. There wasn’t one on her back and, outside of the one that had just formed, there wasn’t one on her front.
Then what was going on? Even abused kids tended to have their parent’s names somewhere on their bodies. But there was nothing.
The next guess was that her soulmate’s parents were dead. Usually, orphans had their housemates’ names on them, so the kid would have to be on the streets. Could a street kid really get enough access to a computer that it appears over their heart?
Sabine finished toweling off her daughter and pressed a kiss to her head after pulling her shirt on.
“Want to watch Pere bake some?”
The little girl’s eyes lit up and she nodded.
~
Whoever Tim’s soulmate was, they were really good at making friends. His chest was littered with names by the end of their first year of school.
And then there was one name on his back, right over his heart: Chloe Bourgeois. He frowned when he saw it.
For the first time since his first soulmark had appeared, he found himself curious about what was going on.
He pulled out his computer and looked up the name, not expecting to find much.
But, it turned out he did. After running an article through google translate (which didn’t work great) he managed to gather that she was the daughter of the mayor of Paris.
So... his soulmate was French.
(Unless they just had a vendetta against a random 3-year-old. Unlikely, though.)
He pulled up a new tab. It never hurt to learn a new language.
~
Their likes and dislikes slowly cropped up on their bodies as time went on.
Tim had smiled despite himself when he saw the pictures cropping up. A whisk was found on his shoulder, and then a video game console popped up on his stomach, and then a sewing needle and buttons could be seen under their parent’s names. On his back, he could find what appeared to be homework and broccoli. Whoever his soulmate was, their life seemed quaint and pleasant.
Marinette had been happy to see all the little things popping up over herself as well. A circus tent on the sole of her foot, a skateboard on her neck, a camera by the computer. On her back, she could see what looked like playing cards. She thought all their hobbies sounded cute (if a bit random). She was just concerned about the distinct lack of names on her body; she hoped that they were at least getting enough social interaction.
~
When she was twelve, it finally happened: a name appeared!
She stared at the script that had displaced the computer and her eyebrows knit together.
Batman.
Maybe a pet’s name? Human names tended to give a first and last name, so...
She typed it into her phone to try and translate it to French and her eyes widened when it actually gave information on someone in this place called Gotham.
A vigilante?
She laid back in her bed and frowned to herself.
In order for a person to show up as a name, there had to be a personal connection. If there wasn’t, like a celebrity crush, it would show up as a picture. But this was text, so…
Well, she hoped that her soulmate was safe.
Over time, more names appeared. They were all just as odd.
Nightwing?
Batgirl?
A simple google search showed they were vigilantes, too. She frowned slightly.
As long as they were okay, she supposed she should just be happy that they were talking to good people.
Besides, being friends with vigilantes seemed kind of cool. She could understand the appeal. She wished that Paris had something like that.
~
When he was fifteen a polka-dotted yoyo appeared over his heart, displacing their family’s names slightly. He stared at the yoyo for a minute in the mirror and then snickered to himself.
“Damn. They must really like yoyos.”
He laughed to himself and glanced at his back to see if anything changed, and was surprised to find that Chloe’s name had been moved away to make room for…
Was that a butterfly?
“And hate butterflies, apparently.”
~
She stared at the tiny bird over her heart.
Computers, skateboards, circuses, photography, and… birdwatching?
Whoever her soulmate was, their hobbies had range.
~
Tim had been changing out of his Robin costume when the names started disappearing.
Panic filled him. He’d heard before that, when your soulmate dies, your tattoos start to disappear.
But a few stayed, as did their hobbies.
He looked over the remaining names.
Their parents were still there, right next to the yoyo. Their family life was okay…
He stared at the other name and his eyebrows knit together.
Who names their kid Chat Noir?
He shook his head slightly. Maybe his soulmate had a black cat and wasn’t good at naming things.
Tim checked his back, mostly out of habit more than anything, and frowned to himself.
The butterfly had disappeared, and in its place were two names:
Lila Rossi and Hawkmoth.
~
She grinned as she twirled around in the dress she’d made. She was rather proud of it, it had a nice red and black color scheme.
She started taking it off, only to realize something.
Everything was gone.
She looked over her skin, running her fingers over where all the tiny tattoos had once been and felt tears form in her eyes.
Her soulmate was…
And then, slowly but surely, something appeared on her chest.
She wiped her eyes and looked at it, only to frown.
A gag gun that said ‘BANG’.
Nerves rattled around inside her. Something was definitely wrong, she could tell. But how could she fix it?
Maybe she could convince Master Fu to give her the horse miraculous? She could drop into Gotham as Ladybug for a little while and check up on them? Sure, she had no idea who her soulmate was, but she knew who they hung out with. She should at least make sure they’re okay.
A few hours later she was dumped unceremoniously onto a Gotham rooftop.
She looked up at the portal Master Fu had dropped her through and made a rude hand gesture, then pushed herself to her feet. She walked to the edge of the roof, dusting herself off as she went, and looked over the side.
Wow, this place definitely looked like the most dangerous city in the world. She could see a guy holding a gun while walking an old lady across the street it was so bad.
She pulled out her phone and looked up a picture of the vigilantes that she’d seen on her chest. Nightwing… Batgirl… Batman…
Man, did they have to wear such dark colors? It was night! How dare they do the smart thing and make it hard to see them!
Fine. Time to wonder around and pray, she supposed.
She had been considering detransforming and seeing if she could buy a coffee when she heard a click behind her head.
Ah. Fuck.

“Ah fuck Bea, just like that”
Bea is knelt down between Ina’s legs, eagerly lapping up her wetness in the library’s private study room. The professor is leant against the desk, her back to the door and so she doesn’t notice the quiet turning of the handle until she hears a chipper voice...
“Hey professor, I just came to say hi”
Chloe St James.
“Oh! I thought I locked the door” in her haste to shoo Bea away, Ina accidentally kicks Bea in the shin which causes her to emit a sharp hiss as she crawls away to hide underneath the desk
“Is everything all right there professor?”
“Yes Chloe, absolutely fine!” Ina quickly realises she will not be able to pull her panties up without making it obvious. So she hopes and prays that Chloe does not come any closer, and mentally curses at herself for not locking the door. How would she explain this situation if Chloe were to come behind the desk?
Whilst deep in worried thought, Ina fails to notice that Chloe is now closer than before. Almost standing behind the desk, she has a clear view of the panties by her professor’s ankles. Her face blushes a bright crimson
“Uhm, professor, what were you getting up to in here just now?” A sly grin spreads across her face as she grabs hold of Ina’s hands to inspect for any signs that she had been pleasuring herself but is disappointed to find none. It’s then that she notices the unmistakable shoe sticking out from under the desk
“Farmsville you skank!” Chloe throws the professor’s hands aside and crouches down by the desk, anger blazing deep inside her
“I’d recognise those tatty ass shoes anywhere”
Bea, too shocked for words, stares back at her furious face with wide eyes
“Well? What do you have to say to yourself?”
“Get out of my face Chloe” having regained her ability to speak, Bea snaps back at Chloe before pushing her out of the way in order to get up from underneath the desk
“What were you doing with the professor just now?”
Bea rolls her eyes
“Isn’t it obvious? I was practicing my oral skills for the upcoming exam”
“I thought that meant we had to give a speech..” A confused look crosses Chloe’s face before she continues
“Anyway, I’m pretty sure this is against the university rules!”
Ina and Bea feel a sense of panic well up inside them. If Chloe tells the dean, they’ll both be kicked out of the university. Bea knows that things will have to get physical in order to get Chloe to shut up. She cracks her knuckles in preparation for a fight but before she can proceed any further, the professor has pushed Chloe to her knees before her. Chloe takes only a moment to look at the professor with wide eyes before diving into the delicious wetness hidden just barely under her skirt
“Ina, what the hell?”
Bea is absolutely furious with Ina, how dare she let Chloe lick up all her hard work. As she moves towards the girl on the floor to pull her away from her prize, she feels a certain pressure between her legs. She looks down to see Ina’s hand pressed firmly against her and as she looks back at the professor’s face, she notices barely restrained desire. She rolls her eyes before unbuttoning her jeans
“Don’t..” Ina is cut off by a low moan “don’t roll your eyes at me”
Normally Bea would get on her knees right about now but her place was taken by Chloe, who seemed to be doing a rather good job at pleasing her professor. Ina had to admit that Chloe was rather skilled with her tongue, almost as skilled as Bea
At the same time, Ina runs one hand through Chloe’s hair and places the other inside Bea’s panties. She is surprised to find a pool of wetness already waiting for her eager fingers and wastes no time in inserting one finger, then two. Bea moans in desire which, surprisingly, makes Chloe whimper too
“Aw, does Chloe like it when I’m all riled up?”
Chloe briefly pulls her mouth away from the professor’s centre
“Shut up farmsville”
“Hey, no fighting girls” Ina says this sternly which makes both students quieten immediately. They both look to her with wide eyes
“Good girls. Now, back to work” Simultaneously, Ina pushes Chloe’s mouth back towards her dripping wetness and reinserts her fingers into Bea, pumping hard but slowly. Chloe pushes her tongue deep inside the professor which makes Ina’s grip on her hair tighten. She moans gently and picks up the pace
Meanwhile, Ina’s hand moves faster and more erratically inside Bea. She finds it hard to control her fingers when this close to the edge but Bea doesn’t mind. She enjoys the unpredictability of Ina’s fingers and quickly finds herself trembling and ready for release
“Ina, I’m close!” she grabs onto Ina’s wrist as her breathing becomes more laboured and she closes her eyes tightly. Her eyes soon fly open though at the sound of moans escaping the professor and seeing her come is enough to make Bea do the same
After a few moments, Chloe gets up from the floor, a slight amount of Ina’s wetness coating the edge of her lips
“Hey, let me get that for you” Bea runs a shaky hand across Chloe’s lips, gathering the wetness onto her thumb, before taking the thumb into her mouth and sucking. Ina stares at the exchange with a surprised expression
“I’m glad to see you two are finally getting along”
“Whatever, I guess farmsville isn’t totally lame”
Chloe rolls her eyes and looks away with feigned annoyance; she actually felt an intense thrill run through her at the thought of what had just occurred and she wondered if the pair would enjoy such a performance again
“So, same time next week?” Chloe asked sweetly, as if she wasn’t just inviting her professor and public enemy number one to another threesome. Ina raises a questioning eyebrow at Bea, who shrugs in response
“Great! I’ll see you then” with that, Chloe flounces away with an air of confidence when really she was a nervous wreck inside

My Spy - Chapter 7
The Bellas stared in awe at the show DSM was putting on. Beca furrowed her brows as the set ended and the crowd went a bit crazy, clapping, yelling, and cheering.
"Do we clap?" Flo asked.
"If you want," Beca said, slowly clapping her hands.
The rest of the Bellas followed suit.
"Beca," Stacie said, getting their Captain's attention. "The set lasted longer than we thought. Maybe we should go so you can get to Starbucks to meet Chloe."
Beca pulled out her phone to check the time.
"You're right," Beca said, distractedly.
Beca noticed a text from Chloe and pulled it up. Her shoulders dropped and she turned to the Bellas.
"Chloe had to cancel," Beca said, disappointment in her voice.
"What?" Emily said. "Why?"
"She's got to leave town for something work-related," Beca said as tears stung her eyes. "At this rate, I may never get to see her again."
"Call her!" Ashley blurted.
"What?!" Beca asked.
"Ashley's right," Jessica said. "Better yet, FaceTime her. You'll get to see each other while you talk."
The other Bellas were nodding their heads.
"You think I should?"
"Yes," the collective voices practically scream at Beca.
"No!" one voice shouted to be heard over the others.
"Stacie?" Beca asked, looking over at the leggy Bella.
"This whole thing started with her choosing her job over you," Stacie said. "If you call her, you'll just be setting yourself up for more heartache down the road. Because she will always choose her job over you."
"You. . .you can't know that," Beca said.
"History has a habit of repeating itself, Beca," Stacie said. "We just have to remember that and learn from it."
"But, but," Beca stammered. "I'm still in love with her. I understand she has a job and will sometimes have to run off at the drop of a hat and I'm okay with that if it means we'll be together. Can't you understand that?"
"I can," Stacie said, smiling at Beca. "I just wanted to make sure you did."
Beca's jaw dropped as she stared at Stacie.
"What?" Emily said. "So, you were testing Beca?"
"Yes," Stacie said. "She sounded unsure if she should call Chloe. If she understood all that would entail, she wouldn't be asking us if she should, she would just do it."
"That's true," CR said. "Not a cool way to go about it though."
"It worked," Stacie said, shrugging.
"So, Beca," Jessica said. "To answer your original question, we all think you should definitely call or FaceTime Chloe."
The other Bellas nodded in agreement.
"Fine," Beca said, holding up her hands in surrender. "But, I'm going to wait and do it when we get back to Barden where I can have some privacy."
"Fair enough," CR said. "Let's go."
~~ My Spy ~~
Beca paced back and forth in her room, clutching her phone in her hand. Her mind kept replaying what Stacie said over and over, and she was starting to wonder if calling Chloe was such a good idea after all. There were still too many questions that needed answers.
Beca felt like she was back to square one when all this started. She definitely wanted answers to a few things.
"And I can only get those answers from Chloe," Beca thought.
Beca sighed and sat on the edge of her bed. Her mind is working overtime on the whole "should I or shouldn't I" question. Unfortunately, this question was one only she could answer.
Beca continued sitting and thinking when her phone rang. Looking at the caller ID she huffed and considered declining the call. She would have done just that but knew that she would just keep calling until Beca answered.
"What the fuck do you want, mom?" Beca asked, answering the call.
"Is that any way to talk to your mother?" Sarah asked.
"You're lucky I'm talking to you at all," Beca snapped back.
"Are you still mad about the whole thing with Chloe?" Sarah asked. "Get over it. It happened. Grow up and move on."
"Get over it? Grow up and move on?" Beca repeated. "Do you hear yourself right now? You lied to Chloe and didn't tell me about it. You laid the blame for everything that happened to dad on Chloe, instead of dad where it belongs. And, quite honestly, if it weren't for the fact that Chloe and I are trying to work things out, you and I wouldn't be talking at all."
"You're seeing Chloe?" Sarah asked.
"Um, not yet," Beca said hesitantly. "But, we're talking again. Or rather texting. And, I'm hoping it will lead to actually seeing her and telling her I still love her."
Sarah sighed into the phone and remained silent for a few minutes.
"Mom?" Beca asked when the silence became almost unbearable. "Are you still there?"
"I'm still here," Sarah said, inhaling deeply before saying, "Your father wants to see you."
"What?! Why?"
"He wants to explain how the authorities got it wrong about him," Sarah said.
"Can he also explain how the Prosecutors and the jury got it wrong, too? Evidence does not lie; people do."
"I believe you owe it to him to listen to what he has to say."
"I don't owe him anything," Beca said, her voice rising. "And, I'm not going to see him. Why are you even talking to him?"
"Because I believe him," Sarah said.
"Oh, right," Beca scoffed. "Because he would never lie to you."
"He's not the same man he was fifteen years ago."
"You're right," Beca said. "He's not. Fifteen years ago he wasn't a convicted drug smuggler and dealer. He was a lying, cheating adulterer."
"He's still your father," Sarah said coldly.
"Yeah, but only when it's convenient for him," Beca said and then a thought struck her. "Oh, my God, you still love him!"
"I don't know what you're talking about," Sarah said quietly.
"That's it, isn't it?" Beca asked. "You still love him. That's why you're defending him."
"We've been divorced for fifteen years."
"Do I need to remind you why you divorced him?" Beca asked.
"He apologized for all that," Sarah said.
"You are unbelievable," Beca said. "And I'm through with this conversation. I have more important people to talk to. Someone I actually want to talk to."
Beca ended the call before her mother could say anything more. She immediately pulled up Chloe's contact info and pressed call. The call went to voicemail so Beca left a message, asking Chloe to call her back.
"Now it's up to Chloe," Beca mumbled, putting her phone in her pocket.
~~ My Spy ~~
The jet to New York was full with several agents from Atlanta going along to help with the arrests. Chloe was sitting next to her Uncle Matt, the Director of her Unit. She had her elbow on her knee and her chin in her hand as she looked out the window at the night sky.
"This is my last assignment," Chloe thinks to herself as she glances over at her Uncle Matt. "I just need to tell him and let him know I'm serious. I can't be running off to another assignment all the time if I want to be with Beca. And I really want to be with Beca."
Chloe sighed. "If I don't quit, I don't think Beca will wait around for me."
"Okay, team, we're about ten minutes out," Matt said, standing and looking around at the agents. "When we get there, we'll be heading straight to the New York office to go over the plans for tomorrow. Beale, have you heard anything from Kommissar?"
"Not yet, sir," Chloe said, looking up at him. "The last thing I got from her was that the shipment will be in New York and that's where I'm supposed to pick it up."
"Maybe the New York office has some more intel," Jason said. "By now they should have checked the manifests for shipments from Germany."
"I'm sure they have," Matt said, sitting back down next to Chloe. He leaned in to quietly ask, "Chloe, are okay? Are you sure you're ready for this?"
"Yes, sir," Chloe said. "It's all good."
~~ My Spy ~~
Beca woke the next morning to find several texts from Chloe. She scrolled through to read them all.
[11:43 PM] I got your message but it's late so I'll call you tomorrow if that's okay
[11:48 PM] I want to talk to you but I'm going to be tied up most of tomorrow so it might be late when I call
[11:50 PM] I'd really like to see you
[11:50 PM] I miss you
[1:20 AM] I love you
"She still loves me," Beca mumbled as a tear came to her eye.
Beca ran a hand through her hair and wiped away the tear before sending a response. After pressing send, Beca got out of bed and made her way to the kitchen.
Stacie, Jessica, and Ashley all looked up when Beca entered.
"Good morning," Beca said.
"Hey, Beca," Jessica said. "Did you talk to Chloe?"
"Not yet," Beca said as she fixed herself a cup of tea. "I left a message last night for her to call me. And, this morning I woke up to several texts from her explaining that she would be busy most of the day and would call me later tonight."
Beca smiled as she sipped her tea.
"What's got you smiling?" Stacie asked. "The thought of finally talking to Chloe or something else?"
"It's nothing," Beca said.
"Doesn't look like nothing," Ashley said.
"Yeah, Beca," Stacie said. "What's up?"
"She texted that she misses me," Beca said. Her smile grew bigger as she added, "And that she still loves me."
"Beca!" Jessica squealed. "That's great news."
"No wonder you're smiling," Stacie said, chuckling. "I feel like I'm in the middle of one of those cheesy romcoms. I can't wait to see the ending when the girl gets the girl."
Beca chuckled. "Fingers crossed that it actually ends that way."
"It will," Jessica said adamantly. "You two are definitely soulmates and are meant to be together."
~~ My Spy ~~
"She still loves me," Chloe mumbled as she finished reading Beca's text.
A smile came to Chloe as she thought, "Maybe we'll get to be together sooner rather than later."
Chloe's 'work' phone pinged with a new text notification. She looked at the message and placed a call to her Uncle Matt.
"Hello, Chloe," Matt said, answering the call.
"The meeting with Kommissar is set for eleven this morning," Chloe said.
"That's perfect," Matt said. "It gives us more than enough time to get our men in place."
"I'll leave the hotel at ten-thirty," Chloe said. "Just to confirm the plan. I'll have my video glasses and wrist cuffs on so we can get both audio and visual on everything. I'll put my glasses up on my head to let the guys know when you should move in."
"That's it," Matt said. "Jason will arrest you, so make it look good."
"Roger that, sir," Chloe said. "Be careful out there, Uncle Matt. I have a feeling Kommissar and her team will not go down without a fight."
"Copy that," Matt said. "You do the same, Chloe."
"Yes, sir," Chloe said and ended the call.
~~ My Spy ~~
Chloe got out of her rental car and looked around. Kommissar was walking toward her, so Chloe waited by the car.
"Do you really need all these men with guns?" Chloe asked as Kommissar reached her.
"Yes," Kommissar responded. "This is a dangerous business we're in and we need to be ready for anything."
Chloe nodded. "I agree, but ten AK-47s is a bit much."
"Let's just get this done," Pieter said. "I don't like being out in the open like this."
"Lead the way," Chloe said.
Pieter and Kommissar started walking through a maze of shipping containers; Chloe followed behind them with the rest of Kommissar's group falling in behind her.
They finally stopped and Chloe did the same. She looked the container up and down and scanned all around to include the men to ensure everything was caught on camera.
Kommissar furrowed her brow and squinted her eyes at Chloe. "Where are your people? Surely, you aren't planning on moving all this by yourself."
"They're around," Chloe said, smiling. "Once everything is set, I'll have someone come unload everything into our trucks. Now, quit stalling, and let me see what you've got."
Kommissar looked over to Pieter and nodded her head. Pieter took a key out of his pocket and opened the lock on the container. He pulled open the door and Chloe nearly gasped at what was inside. There were pallets of drugs filling the container from top to bottom and side to side.
"Awesome," Chloe said, stepping forward as she pulled a knife and a small test tube out of her back pocket.
Chloe took one of the bundles and punched the knife into it. She took a finger and dipped it into the white powder slipping it into the test tube. She shook the tube and held it up as she watched to see if it would change color.
"Wow," Chloe said as the liquid turned a dark red. "Very nice."
Chloe took off her sunglasses and moved them to her head.
"There's the signal," Matt said into his headset. "Everyone move in!"
Several men moved from their hiding places.
"FBI!" voices called out.
Kommissar and Pieter stood for a moment, frozen in shock. Kommissar was the first to move. Chloe grabbed her arm to stop her.
"You set me up," Chloe screamed. "I should kill you for this."
"It wasn't me," Kommissar said.
"We gotta get out of here," Chloe said.
Chloe turned, pulling Kommissar by the arm; she stopped when she came face-to-face with Jason and several other FBI agents holding guns on them.
"Fuck," Chloe said, dropping Kommissar's arm. "My bosses aren't going to like this. I'm so dead."
Several gunshots rang out and Kommissar fell to the ground.
"What the Hell?" Chloe said, running over to kneel by Kommissar.
Chloe checked Kommissar's pulse and couldn't find one. She looked around and saw Pieter run between two of the shipping containers.
"He's getting away," Chloe yelled, jumping up to follow him.
"Stop! Put your hands up and drop to your knees," Jason shouted at Chloe while pointing his gun at her.
Chloe stopped and looked around again. She noticed several of the DSM members looking over at her. She raised her hands and dropped to her knees as instructed.
Jason moved to Chloe and handcuffed her. He then pulled her to a standing position.
"We've been trying to catch you for months," Jason snarled at Chloe so that the DSM members nearby could hear.
"I'll be out in less than two hours," Chloe shot back with a smirk.
Jason pulled Chloe toward a waiting police car and shoved her into the backseat. Jason got into the car with her and the car drove off. Once they were far enough away, Jason uncuffed Chloe.
"That was some scary shit," Jason said, running a hand through his hair. "I can't believe they took out Kommissar like that."
"I saw Pieter running away after Kommissar went down," Chloe said. "I think he shot her."
"I'm pretty sure he did," Jason said, pressing his earpiece to his ear to listen to chatter among the agents. "Our guys chased after him and cornered him. He shouted something about loyalty and then shot himself in the head."
"Oh, my God," Chloe said. "I knew they were extremists, but I wasn't expecting that."
"Surprised everyone," Jason said. "Looks like we're here."
Chloe and Jason get out of the car and hurried into the New York headquarters building. They went to the main office to settle in and wait for the others to return so they could be debriefed.
~~ My Spy ~~
The team had been debriefed and Unit Director Matt Collins was standing in front of his team. He looked around the room at them.
"You all did a great job today," Matt said, smiling at the group. "Take the next few days off and get some rest. We've got another big assignment coming up, but we'll discuss that later. For those who need to get back, the jet will be leaving for Atlanta at nine tonight."
Chloe perked up. She can get back to Atlanta tonight and still have time to call Beca.
"You're all dismissed," Matt said. "I'll see you all bright and early on Monday morning. Enjoy your time off."
The group gathered their belongings, murmuring thank yous as they left the conference room. Chloe held back for a moment.
"I'd like to talk with you before Monday," Chloe told Matt. "That is if you have some time."
"Is now good?" Matt asked. At Chloe's nod, he said, "Okay, then. Please take a seat."
Matt sat down and Chloe did the same. She looked at Matt and Matt looked back at her.
"I'm putting in my notice," Chloe said. "I'm quitting the agency."
"May I ask why?" Matt asked.
"I want a life," Chloe said. running a hand through her hair. "One where I can be with the person I love and not have to worry about my job interfering with it. I want to be with Beca. I still love her, Uncle Matt."
Matt sat back in his chair and looked at Chloe.
"Can I ask you to stay for one more assignment?" Matt asked. "Once you hear what it is, I think you'll want to be a part of it."
Chloe hated to admit it, but she was intrigued.
"What, um, what is the assignment?" Chloe asked.
"Does the name Fergus Hobart ring any bells with you?"
"Hobart? That name sounds familiar," Chloe said. She sat and thought for a moment. "Amy!"
"Amy?"
"Yes," Chloe said. "Fat Amy's last name is Hobart. They might be related."
"That's right," Matt said, pulling out a folder and opening it. "Amy's real name is Patricia Hobart. We think she changed it when she came to the U.S. to go to school. Her father is a known arms trafficker and Patricia is his only child. Patricia's mother died under suspicious circumstances and the Australian authorities believe Fergus killed her, but they haven't been able to prove it. That's where we come in. It is alleged that Fergus Hobart has been smuggling illegal firearms into the U.S. We've been asked to work with Australian authorities to get the evidence needed to arrest and convict him."
"Does Amy know all this about her father?"
"We don't know, but we're hoping that as a former Bella you would be the connection we need to find out."
"You're asking me to spy on my friends," Chloe said. "Or rather the people who used to be my friends."
"Essentially, yes," Matt said. "But, it will take some time to investigate Hobart before we can need to worry about how much his daughter knows. For all we know she could be helping him and school is not the only reason she's here. So, what do you say, Chloe? Are you going to help us bring down Fergus Hobart?"
"I'm in," Chloe said, standing and turning toward the door.
"Where are you going?" Matt asked.
"I need to go pack so I don't miss my ride back to Atlanta."

I Don’t Own an IPhone: Wanna Trade? chapter 7
Masterlist
Previous: “Good luck Marinette,” Jon said smiling holding his arms out and she ran over to hug him.“You too,” she whispered. The deal was on, and oh how chaotic it was going to be.
(song used I Hear a Symphony by Cody Fry)
Chapter 7: I Hear a Symphony
Jon wrung his wrists nervously standing in front of the apartment building. His text to Damian was left on read, no begging him to stay, no confirmation that they were even broken up. Jon reached into his pocket grabbing the folded piece of paper. He rung Adrien’s doorbell on the door number Marinette had told him and Adrien opened the door looking at him in shock.
“Oh, hey,” Adrien said hand rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“Hey, um Marinette told me what happened, I’m really sorry about your loss,” Jon said blue eyes glazed over in sadness showing Adrien he was truly sorry.
“Uh thanks, Marinette and I actually broke up last night so now I have no one to go back to the house with, did you want to come with me?” Adrien offered and Jon nodded.
“I’ll be there for you,” Jon said smiling lightly. The two started their trek across the city glancing at each other every now and then going to say something but both figuring it would be better to walk in silence. When they arrived at the house or more like manor Jon smiled at the familiarity of feeling less than, it wasn’t a bad feeling in fact it was welcome considering how nice the Waynes were to him.
Adrien stopped as the gate opened, his father stood there welcoming him.
“Who is this, where is Marinette?” Gabriel asked confused.
“This is Jon, he’s a friend. Marinette and I actually broke up last night, things just weren’t working out,” Adrien said to his father who’s eyes softened.
“I’m sorry she wasn’t the one for you Adrien, you know I’ll accept whoever you love into the family with open arms my son,” Gabriel said holding his son’s shoulder in affection.
“Thank you father, I’m going to go show Jon to my room if that’s ok?” Adrien asked and his father nodded. Adrien took Jon’s hand dragging him up to his room the grand piano caught Jon’s eyes first.
“You play?” Jon asked and Adrien nodded.
“Not for a while, I might be a bit rusty, my father always has me play on this day every year,” Adrien said walking over and sitting down at the piano lifting the lid hands hovering over the ivory keys. “Sorry, I just don’t know what to play,” Adrien said and Jon reached into his pocket again and handed him the paper.
“Don’t play until I tell you ok?” Jon said and Adrien nodded. Jon took a deep breath sitting atop the piano. He looked at Adrien who was studying the upcoming notes and smiled opening his mouth.
Gabriel had a good feeling about this boy Adrien had brought into his home, he seemed a lot like Adrien’s previous partner. He heard a laugh and nodded to Nathalie to come up to Adrien’s room with him listening in on their conversation. The boy had written a song for his son to play, just like Emilie used to do for him. Gabriel felt pain crawl into his heart along with pride, yes, this boy will do nicely. Nathalie looked at him expressing his inner emotion outward on her face, soft smile etching it’s way onto her soft features. A deep breath knocked him from his thoughts. The voice of an angel started singing and Gabriel closed his eyes ready to hear what he had to say.
“I used to hear a simple song, that was until you came along. Now in its place is something new, I hear it when I look at you,” Jon sang softly nodding to Adrien who started playing heart beating fast. He didn’t want to mess up the masterpiece in front of him.
“With simple songs I wanted more, perfection is so quick to bore. You are more beautiful by far, our flaws are who we really are,” Jon sang and Adrien felt his face turn red looking up at him. This was too much.
Gabriel looked at Nathalie who had her eyes closed just like his were previously. This boy had talent, this was the one he wanted for his son no matter what plan he had before with Lila it could be replaced, he would get his son out of here and carry out his plan as Hawkmoth without having to worry about his son being in the way and if the italian girl had a problem with it he could simply bring up her harassment record to the police. He heard his son laugh playing happy for what felt like the first time in a long time.
Jon walked around the piano and sat next to Adrien leaning his head against the taller blond’s shoulder.
“I used to hear a simple song, that was until you came along. You took my broken melody, and now I hear a symphony. Woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,” Jon sang eyes closing as Adrien took in his angelic voice belting out taking a deep breath after watching Adrien’s fingers move expertly across the keys.
“And now I hear a symphony,” Jon sang looking into Adrien’s eyes that stared back faces inching closer together, eyes flickering down to lips then back to eyes asking for permission that was quickly granted as the gap between them almost disappeared. A knock at the door broke them apart as Adrien said come in.
“That song was quite something, did you write it?” Gabriel asked.
“I had help with the piano part from a friend but I wrote the lyrics myself,” Jon said telling most of the truth, he did know music from Damian having him take violin lessons, he didn’t know piano though.
“It was extraordinary,” Gabriel said. “You simply must perform it tonight when the guests arrive,” Gabriel added and Jon flushed. “If you don’t want to sing then Adrien should at least play it.” Jon’s blush faded and he nodded in agreement. Gabriel had opened his doors to family and friends on his wife’s death day after Adrien told him it would be better spent with loved ones then suffering in silence which he reluctantly agreed. As much as Gabriel hated to admit it he would do anything for his son, he was his one weakness.
“Thank you Mr. Agreste,” Jon said smiling at the man who smiled back. Adrien was shocked, his father actually liked Jon and liked something he did, it was a miracle. Another knock at the door shook him out of his thoughts, Felix and his mother stood there politely waiting. Ever since the mix up years ago Felix had been doing his best to regain Adrien’s trust and had succeeded for the most part.
The five walked down to the table and Adrien saw Alya and Nino sitting there already, normally Marinette and her parents would join but it didn’t seem that the elder Dupain’s would be joining them this year, Chloe and her mother walked in as well Chloe took a seat next to Alya and Audrey took a seat near Nathalie. Felix eyed Jon carefully watching the raven haired boy move more than he probably should, first Felix tried to steal Ladybug from him and now Jon, he couldn’t have that.
Adrien grabbed Jon’s hand pulling him out of the room.
“Did something happen with you and your boyfriend?” Adrien asked and Jon tensed up. “Please tell me the truth,” Adrien added grabbing his other hand and Jon looked him in the eyes nodding.
“We broke up last night too, I realized things weren’t working out and there was someone else that peaked my interest, he’s a bit new to me but there was just something about him when I met him yesterday,” Jon said smiling slightly.
“Could you please sing with me? You have the voice of an angel and I need you to be there,” Adrien said moving his hands to cup Jon’s face and the younger grabbed his wrists nodding.
“Just for you,” Jon said, moving in hugging Adrien tight.
The two moved back into the room Adrien taking his place at the piano and Jon sat beside him on the bench and in the moment it felt like the first time, just the two of them as the music flowed through the room.
“It sounds like something dear Emilie would have written Gabriel,” Amilie said wiping her eyes and for a moment Jon panicked. “He’s so precious,” Amilie added running up to Jon pulling the boy into a hug.
“Mother,” Felix said embarrassed.
“He just, he reminds me of her, down to the voice,” Amilie said smiling.
“Oh, um, I’m sorry,” Jon said nervously and Amilie looked panicked.
“No, no, it’s ok. I just miss my dear sister, you’ll be a wonderful addition to the family,” Amilie said making both Adrien and Jon blush.
“I’m… we’re not… uh,” Jon said and Adrien’s mouth was just gaping.
“Could have fooled me,” Chloe said from her seat at the table with a shit eating grin. Of course Marinette told them about the break up and they were all in the corner for the ship to set sail.
The dinner went smooth in Jon’s opinion so when Adrien took his hand and led him back to his room he knew what conversation was to come.
“Jon, since I saw you yesterday I haven’t been able to get you out of my head. You infected me Jon, it made me feel guilty because of Marinette still being in my life…” Adrien started.
“You fell in love with parts of her but not the whole, Chloe told me, and I have the parts of Marinette you liked but without the others,” Jon said sitting down next to the blond.
“It makes me sound like a dick, I’m sorry if you don’t like me anymore after hearing that, if you even did in the first place,” Adrien said looking down, he wasn’t trying to make Jon feel bad for him or trick him Jon noticed that right away, he was being genuine.
“You’re funny,” Jon said putting his hand on Adrien’s cheek leaning in and the blond closed his eyes as their lips finally touched. There were millions of thoughts running through their heads creating a simple verse hands roaming to hold each other close as Jon pulled himself into the blond’s lap the two falling back against the sheets puffs of air escaping them as lips disconnected. Jon rolled off of Adrien laying next to the blond chest to chest, heart to heart. The steady beating was speeding up as the gentle caress of melody whipped through the air lips meeting again.
The two laughed as they broke apart again. “Does this mean we’re together?” Adrien asked and Jon bit his lip nervously.
“I’d like that but could we talk more in the morning when I’m not all distracted?” Jon asked and Adrien nodded as Jon’s eyes closed. Adrien held him close smiling softly closing his eyes as well. It may have felt rushed but it felt right.

Animal Control (Mc x Poppy)
Summary: Bea decides to buy Poppy a gerbil but it doesn’t go well...A whole bunch of chaos ensues and maybe some hands thrown? Includes Chloe and Veronica.
Notes: Yeah this is the most chaotic thing my mind has come up with. I hope you enjoy and laugh. It’s FLUFF, and a little angst.
Word Count: 2.4k

*NO GERBILS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING*
WHAT. IS. THAT?! BEA HUGHES GET IT OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW!!”
It would be an understatement if I said that the whole world could hear Poppy right now.
Bea, wanting to be a good girlfriend, went out and bought a special gift for the blonde. But it definitely got a reaction she wasn’t hoping for.
Bea watched as Poppy jumped onto the bathroom sink as a little critter ran across the floor. It wasn’t really a critter though, just a cute little fat animal thing that Bea thought Poppy would gush over. “CHLOE CALL ANIMAL CONTROL”
....she wasn’t hoping for that response either.
“Pops! Okay okay I’ll get him it’s okay. He won’t hurt you. Well-“
“Well?!”
“Well he might give you a little nibble BUT that’s COMPLETELY normal and-“
“BEA!”
“POPPY!”
Their voices started to boom through the Zeta House as Veronica and Chloe rushed up the stairs and straight into the commotion. The scene before them was utterly shocking in a sense. The blonde stood on the counter, her foot nearly in the sink as she hugged the wall and squeezed her eyes shut...and seemed to be praying to herself? Bea, on the other hand, stood on all 4s as she looked under the cabinet. The Zeta girls glance at each other and then back at the couple as they try to process what was happening. “....So is either one of you going to explain or are we going to-“
Bea jumped at the new voice in the room, hitting her head on the edge of the cabinet. “Ow!” Veronica bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing as Chloe turned away to hide the grin on her face. Poppy opened her eyes, too distracted to notice Bea wince and rub her head. She peers around the bathroom, breathing a sigh of relief when she doesn’t spot the little gremlin crawling about. The blonde notices her friends standing by the door and her face flushes impossibly red as they watch her from down below. Real nice Poppy, they definitely envy you right now. Is that a new yoga pose you’re doing right now? I don’t think your foot belongs there.
She clears her throat and steps down from the counter. “Chloe didn’t you hear me? I said to call animal control there is a rabid pest in the house.” Poppy shoots Bea an annoyed look, and all the brunette could do was stand there and shrug her shoulder sheepishly. Poppy didn’t expect Chloe to full on panic but now there was another blonde running around the room hysterically. Chloe shrieks and whispers to herself, “oh my god a pest?! What if it lays eggs, or what if people hear about this?” She turns towards Poppy and gasps, “do we have to call the terminator?!” Bea blinks in confusion until it hits her, “termin-? wha...OH!” She spins until she faces her girlfriend, “NO! Don’t you dare call the exterminator! It’s a gerbil for crying out loud, it doesn’t deserve that-” Chloe begins to laugh and points an accusing finger at Bea, “it wouldn’t be here in the first place if you stopped coming in here smelling like a farm.”
The brunette does a double take at the dumb blonde, “EXCUSE ME?!” She takes a deep breath and pinches the top of her nose to calm down, “...Chloe do you even know what a gerbil is?”
“Oh I’ll tell you what it is! GONE! It’s leaving now Bea.” Poppy stomps in between the two girls with a deadly expression. Poppy was definitely not going to hold either one of them back if they started fighting. The hell does she look like doing that? But they were definitely not going to damage anything in her room so enough was enough. Bea glances at Poppy and can feel her starting to get more pissed off. She should stop, she should definitely stop. Maybe because she doesn’t actually know where said gerbil is…and Poppy would erase her entire existence off of this planet if Bea ever told her that.
Chloe looks over at Bea and can tell that she’s starting to back down. “Oooh aren’t you a nice pet, obeying your girlfriend. Where did all of your self respect go?” A cat-like grin slowly appears on the blonde’s face as Bea’s jaw slackens in shock.
“You’re one to talk bitch! How about I get rid of you while I’m at it.”
“Oh bring it pig girl!-”
Both girls close in on each other as Poppy is sent sprawling back on her ass. She sits there in complete shock and blinks a couple times to refocus.
Veronica, still standing by the door, takes no effort in trying to stop the cat fight happening in front of her. In fact she sneaks away to grab her phone and starts filming the whole thing. Perfect for some blackmail later. And well she could probably get paid a lot to sell this video. Thank you Poppy for your glorious last name.
Okay now you’re probably wondering where the gerbil comes in to play? We’re getting there, just wait…
Bea and Chloe tumble into Poppy’s walk in closet as one tries to gain the upper hand. To Bea’s shocking surprise, the blonde knows how to throw hands. But the brunette more so wanted to pin her down instead of actually hitting her, she knows that won’t end well for either of them.
Poppy stares at Veronica filming them in all sorts of angles. How did she even get up on that shelf? She rolls her eyes with irritation, already feeling a headache forming. The screaming match on the other side of the room was not helping either. All the blonde wanted was to have a peaceful spa day and try her new Glossier vitamin skincare mask, and maybe have a nice lunch with Bea. This was definitely going to leave some wrinkles. Poppy sighed heavily and tried to stand up, but a flash of little legs ran across the floor a few feet from where she sat, and she felt her heart stop. Poppy shut her eyes, hoping and praying that it isn’t what she thinks it is, and to her awful surprise it was most definitely the gerbil. One second of silence passes before Poppy lets out the most horrific, high pitched scream known to man. It was serious enough that Veronica stepped down from the shelf and Bea loosened her grip on Chloe’s hair. The adrenaline hit Poppy so hard as she sprinted out of the bathroom, shutting the door behind her, and lunging into the closet where the other girls stood like deers in headlights. Bea quickly approaches her girlfriend, partly terrified and partly concerned.
“I just saw it! The- the fiend. It’s in the bathroom still. Just get rid of it Bea please..”
Poppy cowers in the corner trying to cover herself with faux fur coats and whatever she could find that makes her feel less exposed. The girls just stood and watched her, all sharing confused glances. Poppy loved animals, but she never signed up for rodents as well. This meant a serious talk with Bea after everything settled down.
The brunette sighs with a little bit of relief at Poppy’s words, “Oh atleast you found it, I thought I lost him for good..”
The blonde turns so fast it almost makes Bea dizzy. Her face goes pale as Poppy doesn’t break eye contact with her, “ You...what?! You lost it?!”
“Poppy that’s really not what we should focus on right now-”
“If you couldn’t tell...I am losing my mind right now Bea.” She gestures wildly to the mismatched outfit on her body and her tangled locks. “If we don’t capture this animal and RETURN. IT.” She takes one menacing step towards everyone, “none of you will leave alive, got it?”
Okay Poppy is scary, i’ll admit it.
Bea exhales nervously and looks at Chloe, and Chloe looks at Veronica who is holding a camera in her face, completely unfazed. Chloe scoffs with disbelief, swatting the phone out of her face, “Really V?! This is not the time for that.”
The vlogger just kept filming with a shameless smirk painted on her face, “Or what? You’ll fight me too?”
Before anything could progress again, Bea intervenes even while trying to catch her breath. “Okayyy, lets not do this. Can we just work together and catch the gerbil so Poppy can act normal again?” The brunette laughs internally because she knows that her girlfriend is probably staring directly into her soul, but she doesn’t look. She could not imagine herself fighting Poppy, even though they technically did in the water fountain once, but that was more like a fever dream and she found it kinky, anyways… Bea took the lead and headed straight for the door to the bathroom, preparing herself for the quick little monster.
“Do we not have a secure plan for this? Just gonna open the door and hope for the best?” Chloe huffs out. And if Bea was being honest, that was the most sensible thing she had said all day. That girl was full of surprises. “I’m not scared of him like ya’ll. He is just very quick and I don’t want to lose him again.”
“Listen, I don’t care what you guys are or aren’t. I am still standing by what I said earlier...and I guess I will help as well.” It was already embarrassing how Poppy had acted before, but the blonde wanted to save the last of her dignity and so she stood in the far back, offering to be the last minute captor if anything went wrong. Bea was grateful that she didn’t appear to be very mad at her, but she wasn’t a fool. Still, it was better to be in trouble than dead, in some ways. The brunette braced herself and counted to three before swinging the door open and lunging to the floor immediately. Too bad the gerbil was too quick for Bea and it ran between her legs. She grunted with frustration before tripping backwards and knocking right into Chloe, who fell back onto Veronica like a freaking domino effect. The room erupted into screams as Poppy unwillingly ran forward and grabbed the rodent by its tail and lifted it into the air, hundreds of feets away from her body of course. “I got it! I got it!...Now what do I do, Bea?!!”
“Okay! okay calm down...and slowly bring it towards me. That’s it you got it..” Bea cautiously steps towards Poppy and holds her hands out to catch it if things went awry. Poppy stood frozen with fear and shock, still not registering that there was a gerbil scrambling wildly and hanging from her fingers but she pushed the dread away and successfully placed it into Bea’s hands. Mission freaking accomplished. The room visibly sighed with relief after Bea placed the animal back into his cage but Poppy could only stare at her fingers in horror. She’d need to exfoliate it maybe twice, get a new manicure, a skin peel maybe, or just some new skin honestly.
***
After the chaos had settled down and Poppy finally scrubbed herself clean, she walked back into her room and saw Bea lazily playing with the gerbil in his cage. If she wasn’t so creeped out by the rodent, the blonde would almost think this view was very sweet. Bea noticed her immediately and sat up with a guilty expression. “Pops...If I had known that you’d react like that I would have never even thought about buying him. It was a stupid decision really and I should’ve made sure you were okay with it first.” There goes Bea again with her puppy eyes and charming choice of words. Poppy sighs internally, already feeling like an asshole. She sits next to Bea and rubs her knuckles soothingly, “Well yeah it was pretty stupid…” The brunette raises an eyebrow amusingly. “But...you couldn’t have known, and I thought it was really sweet that you’d want to surprise me like that. Usually I’m the one buying gifts for others.” Bea sits up straighter feeling a little overwhelmed but wraps her arms around Poppy’s waist, leaning her head on her shoulder. They sat in comfortable silence until the brunette spoke up again, her voice nearly a whisper, “...does this mean we get to keep him?”
The blonde scoffs loudly but glances over at the cage, her eyes softening just a little bit. She looks down at her girlfriend who seems to have been watching her this whole time. Poppy feels her face start to heat up but for all the right reasons. “I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to having one of...those. But if you really want me to try then I will.” It was definitely worth it to see Bea’s face beam with joy, she kisses Poppy on the cheek with excitement, “Babe you won’t regret it! And.. if it doesn’t work out then we can always give him a better home okay?” The blonde watches her girlfriend’s eyes sparkle brightly and she can’t help but mirror her smile,“Okay”.
Bea reaches for the cage and sets it on her lap. She doesn’t take the gerbil out just yet, wanting Poppy to get comfortable with it in her presence. She watches different stages of emotions make its way across the blonde’s face before she relaxes. Poppy looks at her and speaks gently, “have you decided on a name yet?”
“Well I was hoping we could come up with one together, but after what happened today maybe he can be called….terminator?”
Poppy rolls her eyes so far back but lets out a soft laugh, her hair falling softly onto her cheek. When she doesn’t feel Bea brush the strands away she does it herself and watches as Bea observes the little creature. “Okay I change my mind, you’re giving him more attention than me.” The brunette looks up with a sheepish smile but can only stare at Poppy’s loving but teaseful gaze. Of course she has to be a smartass though, “actually did you know that gerbils require your attention on a daily basis, and can develop strong relationships with their owners? Almost sounds like you.” Bea feels the punch in her side before she can see it and pretends to howl in pain. It doesn’t seem to faze poppy though as she smirks at her victim, “keep that up and you will be sleeping in the cage with him.”
“Oh so you want to lock me up huh?” Bea bites her lip mischievously as she leans into kiss Poppy. Before things can heat up they hear a groan coming from the door. “Ughhh! Of course it had to turn sexual.” Veronica stood with her phone in her hand filming, and a hand over her eyes.
“VERONICA!”

A Merry Crazy Christmas
for @raincloudtoyoursunshine. Merry Pitchmas!
shoutout to @scylla-ramshorn for the idea :)
*
“Bedtime, guys!”
“Noooooo,” Logan whines, dramatically face planting on the floor of the playroom. “I wanna stay up ‘til Chwistmas!”
Beca rolls her eyes, having expected as much. “Come on Finn, go brush your teeth.”
Her son nods without objection, shuffling past his mom to head to the bathroom.
“Logan Jade,” Beca tries the stern voice and full name, even though she’s not really the authoritarian mom; Chloe is, and their youngest knows that perfectly well, and she likes to take advantage of it every time. “I’ve got Santa’s phone number, remember? He won’t be happy to hear you’re not listening to me.”
Beca’s lost count of how many times she’s threatened to text Santa over the last few weeks. It proved pretty efficient to counter toddler tantrums.
Logan grumbles in a very Beca way (it’s sort of scary sometimes, how much she acts like her) but pushes to her feet, dramatically dragging them on her way to the bathroom.
Beca waddles after them, one hand supporting her lower back while the other rubs her large belly.
She’s three days away from her due date, and she’s miserable. Everything aches, her feet and ankles are swollen, and she needs to pee every five minutes.
Once both kids have washed up, she reads them a bedtime story of Logan’s choice before tucking them in.
“M’gonna stay awake,” Logan mumbles as Beca tucks the covers around her, even though her lids are steadily drooping.
Beca smirks knowingly. “Sure you are.” She bends down to kiss the tip of her nose. “Goodnight, baby.”
She heads to the master next, closing the door behind her. “Kinda wish we could use the Santa card all year long,” she says as she leans against the surface for a moment.
Chloe chuckles from her spot on the floor, surrounded by a dozen unwrapped presents. “Let me guess, Logan?”
Beca hums and lowers herself on the bed, eyeing the already wrapped pile. “Our kids are spoiled.”
Chloe grimaces as she looks around as well. “Yeah, we might have gone overboard.” She glances at Beca. “How you feeling?”
A groan flits through Beca’s lips. “So done with this pregnancy. That baby better be cute.”
Chloe laughs, pushing to her feet and making her way over. Christmas is only the day after tomorrow, so present-wrapping thankfully doesn’t have to be finished tonight. She sits down next to her wife, kissing her covered shoulder as her head comes to rest over her belly. “A few more days at most.”
“I know,” Beca sighs, covering Chloe’s hand with her own. “Strong chances this baby is a Logan 2.0, you know that, right?”
Chloe’s pregnancy with Finn was difficult, and the doctor advised against her carrying again, so when they decided to have a third baby, it was a no brainer that Beca would be the one to get pregnant.
Chloe simply smiles. “I love that she’s so much like you. I know she’s going to grow up to be a determined, badass and loyal human being like her mama.”
Beca rolls her eyes at her wife’s cheesiness. “The teenage years coming before that might be the death of us.” She groans again, tilting her head back. “And I need to pee. Again.”
Chloe pushes to her feet and gives her a boost up. “Call me if you need help up the toilet seat.”
Beca’s response is a huff as she slowly waddles to the bathroom. She thankfully manages to do everything on her own, and slides into bed when she makes it back, falling asleep to Chloe wrapping more presents.
The creaking of the bedroom door as it’s pushed open the next morning draws her out of her slumber. She cracks one eye open to see her two kids tip-toeing inside, hair disheveled from sleep.
“No baby yet,” their youngest, Logan, whispers to her older brother Finn. “Maybe he’s waiting ‘til Chwistmas morning!”
“Maybe,” Finn whispers back. “I don’t think the baby knows when Christmas morning is, though.”
“I tell,” Logan states decidedly, walking over.
Beca’s lying on her side with a pillow wedged between her thighs and another behind her back, the only position she’s able to fall asleep in. Chloe’s somewhere behind her, but cuddling has been off limits for the past month as Beca gets as hot as a freaking furnace during the night.
While Finn climbs onto the mattress, Logan comes to stop in front of Beca.
“Whatcha doing, Munchkin?” Beca mumbles sleepily as Logan presses her ear to her large bump.
“I listen to the baby,” she murmurs, eyebrows stitched together in focus. “Why’s it late, Mama?”
“I guess they like where he is now. Warm and comfortable. You two were late, too.”
“But the baby can’t miss Christmas,” Logan points out with a heavy frown.
Beca chuckles, reaching out to smooth her hand over her hair. “There’s always next Christmas.”
“Where’s Mommy?” Finn asks after a beat.
Because of the mountain of pillows, Beca didn’t notice her wife wasn’t in bed anymore.
“Probably downstairs making breakfast,” she answers. “Wanna go see if she needs help?”
Both kids nod and Logan follows her brother out and down the stairs while Beca spends a few seconds struggling to sit up.
“Mama!” Finn’s shout makes her freeze on her way to the bathroom. He appears in the doorway a handful of seconds later, worry flashing in his features. “Mommy fell!”
Beca blinks. “What do you mean she fell? Where’s she??”
“Outside, she says she can’t get up!”
“What?” Ignoring her bladder about to burst, Beca makes her way downstairs as quickly as possible given her state and follows Finn to the open front door. She gasps upon finding Chloe sprawled out on her back in the snow covered driveway, a shovel laying next to her. “Baby, what happened??”
Chloe groans. “Don’t come out here, it’s slippery.” She huffs. “I think I threw my back out.”
“Oh no.” Beca grimaces, eyeing the state of the driveway and debating whether it’s safe for her to go help Chloe. With the giant watermelon weighing her down, she’s got more chance of face planting than successfully dragging Chloe up. “Hold on tight, babe, I’ll call one of the neighbors.”
“It’s okay, Mommy!” Logan calls out sweetly before Beca ushers them inside so they don’t catch a cold as they’re only wearing their pajamas and it’s freaking freezing.
She grabs her phone and makes a few calls, eventually managing to get a hold of their across the street neighbor, a dude about their age. He comes over right away and helps Chloe up, supporting her weight as they walk inside the house and towards the couch.
“Thanks, Brad,” Chloe mutters with a wince as she sits down.
“No problem. I’ll shovel the rest of the driveway for ya.”
“I cuddle you better, Mommy,” Logan says, climbing on the couch and snuggling into Chloe’s side while Beca heats up a pad in the kitchen.
“Mm, thanks baby.”
“Here,” Beca says when she comes back, handing her the pad.
“I wanted the driveway to be cleared in case we needed to go to the hospital,” Chloe mumbles, grimacing as she shifts to set the pad on her lower back. “Shit, I’m old.”
Logan gasps. “Bad word, Mommy.”
“Mm I know, I’m sorry Pumpkin. I’ll put a dollar in the jar later.” She glances up at Beca, worrying her bottom lip between her teeth. “I should call Jenny to let her know we might need her to drive you if the baby comes today.”
Jenny’s Chloe’s closest colleague and friend in town. The Bellas are all scattered around the country, the closest being Aubrey in Boston.
“She’s probably swamped with Christmas Eve dinner with her parents coming over and all,” Beca points out. “Besides, I really don’t think the baby’s coming today.”
Chloe seems to internally debate Beca’s objection for a moment. “Fine. But I’m calling her the minute you have a contraction.”
“Alright,” Beca concedes. “You’ll probably be more comfortable in bed. Think you can climb up the stairs?”
Chloe nods. “Yeah, let’s give it a try.”
Once upstairs, she helps Chloe out of her down jacket and props pillows under her back to ease the pain. “I’ll be back with some pain meds, alright?”
“Is mommy okay?” Finn asks when she makes it back downstairs, blue eyes full of empathy.
“She’ll be fine, sweetheart,” Beca assures him gently, running her fingers through his red curls. “Just needs to rest up for a bit.”
She entertains the kids on her own for a while, whipping up a simple lunch. Logan thankfully doesn’t fight her to go down for a nap, and Finn seems content hanging out downstairs to watch a Disney movie while Beca goes to lie down for a bit.
Her lie-down ends up being a two-hour nap, and she wakes up in a flash to the sound of the fire alarm. Chloe is still out cold from the pain medicine and Beca shuffles out of the room and heads downstairs as quickly as she can.
“Finn?!” She calls out, following the burning smell to the kitchen.
The seven-year-old is standing in the middle of the room, frozen as smoke seeps out of the oven.
“Baby, step back,” Beca instructs, yanking him away from the oven. She opens it, relieved to find no actual flames, and opens the window above the sink to let some clear air in. Grabbing the oven mitts from the drawer, she takes out what looks like a cake and sets the baking pan out on the window ledge. She focuses on her son next, crouching to his level as her eyes sweep over his body for any signs of injury. “Are you hurt, Finn?”
He shakes his head, tears silently streaming down his cheeks. “I-I wanted to help and-and make Ch-Christmas d-dinner,” he stammers. “I’m sorry.”
Beca’s expression softens. “Oh, baby…” She pulls him into a tight hug. “I’m just relieved you’re alright.”
“Bec?” Chloe appears around the corner, one hand braced over her lower back. “What happened?”
“Our little guy wanted to make dinner to help out but things didn’t go as planned.”
Finn sniffles, glancing at Chloe. “I made a cake and put it in the oven but then I went back to watch TV and I forgot about it until the alarm. But it was too late.” More tears leak out of his eyes as his features crumble. “Santa is not gonna come anymore. I ruined Christmas.”
Beca shakes her head. “You didn’t ruin Christmas, honey. You wanted to help us, which is really sweet, but it’s not safe to use the oven on your own. So next time you should ask one of us, alright?”
Finn nods. “Okay, I promise.”
“And Santa is absolutely still coming,” Chloe adds with a beaming grin. “Because you’re kind, and devoted, and the best big brother there is.”
“What’s devoted?” He asks in a small voice.
“It means that you love your family and friends and will do many things to make them happy, like trying to make Christmas dinner.” Beca smiles. “But we can still make that happen. Wanna help mama make grilled cheese? That’s an acceptable dinner, right?”
Finn’s head bobs up and down; grilled cheese happens to be his and Logan’s favorite.
When Logan wakes up, the three of them spend an hour decorating the table and making dinner while singing Christmas tunes. They watch a movie Finn and Logan picked out, and the kids set a plate of cookies and a glass of milk next to the Christmas tree for Santa.
“Oh man, what a day,” Beca mutters with a sigh as she crawls into bed after making a few trips downstairs to arrange the presents around the Christmas tree. “How are you feeling?”
“A bit better,” Chloe says from her spot next to her. “This Christmas will definitely be one we’ll remember. I threw my back out, our son almost set the house on fire and--”
Beca gasps. “My water just broke.”
An almost comical length of silence follows as Chloe and Beca stare at each other with wide eyes.
“Or I peed my pants, but I just used the toilet.”
“You’re kidding,” Chloe whispers.
Beca throws her wife a glare. “Fuck. Can you drive?”
“I’ll manage.”
It’s a good thing they already set up the car seat and that it hasn’t snowed anymore during the day, so their driveway is clear.
“Whassgoin’ on?” She hears Logan mumble when Chloe crosses the hall to wake the children up. Beca’s water broke two hours ago, and her contractions are close enough that they need to head to the hospital.
“The baby is coming,” Chloe says gently. “So you guys are going to go to Ms. Jenny’s for the rest of the night while mommy takes mama to the hospital.”
While Beca’s labor with Logan lasted over twenty-two hours, this baby is in much more of a haste to meet the world.
Riley Josephine Mitchell is born at 6:13 am on Christmas morning. Beca’s chest feels fit to burst with love as their tiny screaming baby is laid on her chest, her cries quieting down as soon as she feels Beca’s warm skin.
“It’s okay, baby girl,” she murmurs, brushing soft kisses to her forehead. Her eyes find Chloe’s equally teary ones. “Merry Christmas, love.”
Chloe beams, resting her forehead against the side of Beca’s head. “Merry Christmas.”
Yeah… definitely one they will remember.

Mismatch-Part 11
Bio Dad Bruce Wayne Month 2020
You know... just a trip to the aquarium... what could possibly go wrong?
First < Previous > Next
-----
“Don't you think we should wake him up?” Adrien asks, looking towards Nino’s door.
“Absolutely not,” Marion picks through his sugary cereal, “You may not understand, as a natural morning person, but waking us up is a death sentence,”
“We’re going to be late,” Adrien seems nervous stirring his cereal, Marion tries not to snort, only someone who has their life planned to the minute would think so.
“Then he’ll rush to get ready and be out the door in five minutes,” Marion bites done, trying not to cringe at the sweetness, speaking through his mouthful, “Like any non-morning person does,”
“Wouldn’t it be easier to just get up early?”
“I have no idea how to explain just how wrong you are,”
Marion pushes the bowl away, why Adrien insisted on trying it he had no idea. He goes to double check his bag. He was carrying the miracle box today. It’s compartment taking up half his satchel. Something Klakki seemed annoyed by while Plagg was happy to curl up, like any cat would.
As it got closer to time to leave Adrien keeps glancing at Nino’s door then back to Marion. Marion tries not to smile as he brainstormed names and researched birds. He had found one called Sabine's Gull, tempting but not enough to risk his Maman's life, even if the chances were slim. Adrein keeps reminding Marion of the time, down to the last seven minutes before the bus is meant to leave.
“And three, two,” Marion caught Adrien's attention, “one,”
“I”m Late!” Nino yells from his room, followed by a yelp and some crashing.
Marion chuckles, ignoring Adrien’s ‘I told you so look,’. That was quickly replaced by Marion's one as in only four minutes fifty six seconds Nino was dressed, fed and out the door. They race downstairs, reaching the ground floor to see a crowd outside the building. Marion frowns, they were blocking the way out, and he could see the bus over their heads. Most people held cameras and a few with microphones. They walk outside, trying to push their way to the bus, when Marion spots Marinette in the middle of the crowd.
“Whats going on?” He interrupts Marinette talking with someone rudely shoving a microphone in her face, which filled with relief at seeing him.
“I’ve been trying to explain to these people that-”
“Excuse me but what's your relationship to Bruce Wayne?” A... reporter? cuts Marinette off.
“Bruce Wayne?” Marion casts a confused look to Marinette, “I hardly know him,”
“So he hasn't been a very involved Father?” The reporter asks, and Marion’s does a double take.
“Wh-what?” Marion looks to Marinette who only sighs, “He’s not my Father,”
“Did he tell you to say that?” Another reporter butts in.
“Yes, people who aren’t my Papa usually do,” Marion says sarcastically, pushing the microphone away from his face.
“So he did tell you to say that?” The reporter asks, a glint in their eye that he was most familiar with Alya having when asking Chat Noir questions(when Ladybug wasn't available of course).
“Do you not recognise sarcasm?” He turns to Marinette, “Do they not know sarcasm?”
“No, they also don’t know the term, ‘He’s not my Father,” Marinette chastises, looking at the surrounding crowd like they were three year olds, “and, ‘I already have a Papa’,”
“But you were adopted,” Someone calls out, making Marion reel back and Marinette flinch. Ok. things that are not ok for strangers to talk about; that.
“First of all, it’s creepy that you know that,” Marion snaps, “Second it’s rude to bring that up to a stranger, if at all, and third that doesn't mean that of all people Bruce Wayne is our Father,”
“You heard it here first folks,” A reporter to the side announces, “Confirmation of the Wayne twins,”
“How was that confirmation! Did our english tutor skew us over!?” Marion yells, spinning to Marinette.
“Mari, let’s just go,” Marinette tries to pull him away only to be blocked by multiple reporters all talking-yelling over each other to ask invasive questions.
They were used to reporters as Ladybug and Chat Noir even MDC and MCD, but no one knew anything personal about them. Well mostly. This was not the same. They had apparently done their research as they were shouting out specific questions about their lives. Someone mentioned Chloe asking if the Wayne's were friends with the Mayor of Paris. Marion doubts that, the Wayne's charity work did not line up with the Mayor’s self-serving nature.
They try to ignore any more questions and side step the crowd, slowly making their way to the bus. To their horror the bus pulls away as they reach the curb. Watching the rear window Lila’s smug face is smirking back at their stupor. Neither even have enough sense to reach for their phones before a motorbike pulls up in front of them. The reporters scramble to get out of the way, or get run over.
“Saw the news, thought you could use some rescuing,” Jason pulls off his helmet gesturing to the bike, and the twins hop on, the press snapping pictures like crazy, “Where to?”
“Aquarium, the bus left without us,” Marinette answers, holding onto Marion as they speed away.
Marion can hear Jason mutter unsavoury curses under his breath about the class, and can’t help but agree. They see the bus and Jason speeds up, riding alongside it. No one looks over until Jason practically punches the side. The loud clang making even Marion jump. When their classmates look out to see the twins waving. Marion watches as Kagami starts yelling and the bus signals to pull over. Jason slows down to trail behind the bus as it does. The second the doors open their friends rush out, as the twins get off the bike.
“I’m so sorry,” Adrien frets, “We tried to hold them off,”
“Little miss liar decided that it would be a waste of time waiting for you,” Chloe scoffs, Marion bats her hands away trying to tame his hair himself.
“She convinced everyone you could get your own ride,” Kagami looks like she was planning to throw Lila into traffic.
“We sorta did,” Marion laughs, turning to Jason, “Thanks for that,”
“No problem, didn’t want Bruce picking you up, he’d probably drive you straight to the nearest adoption agency,” Jason pulls his helmet back on, mounting his bike, “Have fun,”
“Thank you,” Marinette calls, and they both wave goodbye.
“Marinette, Marion, please get on the bus we are already very late,” Madam Bustier reprimands, looking out the bus door.
They shuffle back onto the bus, the entire class, minus Max, looking annoyed, if not angry. They bus starts up again, tempting Marion to just walk. Instead he holds onto the bar, Marinette next to him, letting the others take back their seats. The one next to Adrien noticeably empty.
“Was that really necessary?” Alya speaks first, passive aggressive, leaning into the aggressive.
“Well, the bus left, so yeah?” Marion asks, He would be confused why they were angry when they should be upset. But he knew exactly what happened; Lila.
“Only because you stopped to chat with the reporters,” Rose says not unkindly, she has a reassuring look as if there was no ill intentions. There probably wasn't, from her, the rest of the class was hit or miss, mostly hit.
“We weren't trying-”
“It was quite inconsiderate,” Lila cuts Marinette off, “I get hounded by reporters day in, day out but I always do my best to make sure they never come near or disrupt the class,”
Marion could almost snort at that, Lila giving herself away without even knowing it. No reporter would stop trying to corner her if anything she says were really true. Lila bats her eyelashes and gets agreements from the class, Which as per usual spurs her on.
“I mean it’s one thing to spread that awful lie , but to actually call the press to sabotage our trip?” Lila fakes a sniffle at the end. Marion can’t help but suspect she had more to do with this morning than he realised.
“We didn’t do anything, and we certainly didn’t call them,” Marinette says defensively, calmly but visibly restraining her anger. And it Marinette was angry Marion was livid.
“Right and every time your with the Waynes there just happen to be cameras around?" Sabrina sneers, arms crossed Marion glowers down at her. He holds his hand out to Kagami who stands to argue, she sits down begrudgingly.
"Not to mention you've never even mentioned the Waynes before, while Lila has known them for years," Nathaniel mutters, not meeting Marion's gaze as it snaps to him.
"If you want to say something just say it," Marion addresses the whole class, opening the flood gates.
“You’re just looking for attention!” Kim stands up, slamming his hands onto the seat in front of him, startling Mylene.
“Attention?!” Marion rears back, he can feel the anger radiating from his friends behind him.
“Yeah! your jealous of Lila knowing the Waynes so your trying to ruin the trip for her!" Kim points at Marion, although he suspected he meant both of them.
"We know your just trying to distract everyone from the charity she set up in Gotham, so she doesn't get any recognition!" Mylene accuses, genuine rage and hurt behind it.
"The Mayor of Gotham even cancelled the celebration for Lila because you two are causing so much trouble," Rose cries, voice quivering.
"She was going to invite the whole class! Even you two!" Sabrina spits, yeah right.
"You're filling the news up with Tabloid lies!" Alya joins, yelling over Madame Bustiers meek protests.
“What the?!" Marion re orientates himself from the barrage, "Those are all lies! how can you not see that?"
“Don’t start this again, I thought you were over the whole liar thing?" Alya half demands, half mutters.
“We’d be ‘over it’ is she stopped lying!" Marion's eyes follow where his finger points, smug grin churning his stomach uneasily.
“Thats rich coming from you," Kim scoffs, bitter tone so unlike his usual default rage or cheer.
“ What," Marion turns to him, but only gets a glare back.
“You two are always lying to get out of class and school events," Ivan answers for him. Well that was true but they couldn’t admit it.
“Thats not-
“Save it we know you can’t stand to be around us," Juleka cuts off Marinette, her sour tone practically screaming compared to her normal volume. Also true but probably for different reasons then they think.
“If you spread this whole rumour as a way to get out of the trip, fine, do that, but don’t keep disrupting out trip for your five minutes of fame," Alix startles Marion by cutting in. She usually didn't speak to anyone anymore, let alone Lila.
“Five minutes of fame?- spread the rumour? Do you honestly think we wanted this?” Marinette doesn't expect an answer.
“Yes,” It came from Alya, cold and bitter. With one look at Marinette he could tell exactly what his sister was remembering.
Alya has pretty much migrated to Lila after plans being cancelled with Marinette one to many times. After which marintte tried to organise another plan but Alya told her in the nicest way possible(Still pretty crushing) that she would perfer to hang out wwiht lie la and that she and Mari had drifted apart. Mari does point out that this isn’t fair but Alya says she deserves better than a secondary plan, Mari points out that Alya had done that plenty of times. Alya agrees, apologies and lists it as another reason they should renounce their friendship. The rest of the class:
Marinette bounces up to her best friend. She finally had a weekend off, so concerts, no urgent commissions and her manager promised to keep it that way. The only thing that could interrupt this weekend was Hawkmoth himself. Marion even offered to take her earrings.
"Hey Alya are you free-"
"No," It's a single word, but spoken with such resentment and conviction it couldn't be missed,
"I didn’t-" Marinette's face scrunches, was dark Cupid on a rampage again?
"No Marinette I’m done, done with making plans, getting excited only to be cancelled or stood up, I’m done,” The aspiring reporter sounds so strangely defeated, completely unlike herself.
“Alya I’m so sorry about last week-” Marinette apologises again, gut twisting at the though she hurt her best friend this badly.
“It’s not just last week, its the one before and the one before that and every other week, I’m sick of it!” Alya spits, meeting Marinette's eyes for the first time, seeing nothing but rage and hurt.
“Alya I'm really sorry, I’ve had a lot going on and-” Marinette frets, gesturing wildly.
“I know Marinette, you’ve been busy in the bakery and with your designs and every other excuse you've given me, I deserve better,”
“Of course you do Alya, I promise I-”
“No, Marinette its fine,” Alya sounds tired, stepping away from Marinette's outstretched hand, “We’ve been drifting apart for a long time now and I’m tired of acting like nothings changed, I can’t keep putting more effort into this friendship, more time than you, I have friends who are actually there for me, like Lila,”
At that Marinette saw red. Of course it was Lila who put her up to this, whispering in her ear, turning Alya against Marinette.
“That’s not fair! Your not even giving me a chance!” Marinette snaps, her jaw tenses as Alya glares.
“I’ve given you plenty of chances,” Alya glowers.
“Why is this the first I’m hearing of it,” Marinette crosses her arms.
“I shouldn’t have to threaten to end our friendship for you to show up!” Alya shouts, taking a step forward as Marinette stumbles back.
"What did Lila say?!" There was no way Alya would say this, would do this, they were meant to stick together through thick and thin, "Is she making you do this?!"
"So help me- yes Lila talked to me!" Alya throws her hands up, "But not because she's out to get you, like your so convinced, but because she's a good friend who cares when I come crying over getting stood up by you!"
“You’ve cancelled on me plenty of times!” Marinette defends, she had her blog and Marinette was always understanding.
“I know and I’m sorry,” Alya takes a deep breath, “I don’t think either of us are being fair to each other, it’s better to just renounce our friendship before it all comes crashing down,”
“Alya please," Marinette begs, reaching out, tears pricking her eyes.
“I’m sorry Marinette but this is the right decision for me,” Alya walks away, not looking back at the tears streaming down her former friends face, “and I hope in time you’ll realise it was the right thing for you too,”
Marion remembers that day so well. Marinette coming home crying, the Akuma. Bunnix jumping into their room followed by the adult version of them, with miraculous holders he didn’t recognise. They battle with an akumatized Ladybug was tough, even with the extra help. The Akuma was cleansed and the rest of Paris had their memories wiped, leaving Marion the only one in their time who remembers. He never brought it up to Marinette and he never will.
“Well your wrong, we worked hard to get this trip and why would we want to ruin it?" Marion answers, Marinette remaining silent.
“Please we all know you stole Lila’s work," Sabrina rolls her eyes, Marion catches Chloe scowling at her.
“Wh-what!” Marinette splutters, Marion tries to keep his mouth shut.
“I’m sorry, I accidentally let slip that I wrote up the essay to get us this trip,” Lila bats her eyes, curling in on herself as if they're going to attack her for it. Marion just might.
“You don’t have to apologise for anything Lila," Alya places a comforting hand on her shoulder, "They stole the essay you worked so hard, one that you managed to write even when setting up a charity!"
“I wasn't doing to impress everyone, I just wanted everyone to get to go on this amazing trip, so when you two said you weren’t going to make a submission because it was so much work, I just had to, but at least you sent it in, I couldn't do that since I’m not class president,
“Maybe she should be," Marion doesn't care who muttered it, it doesn't matter.
“That's it,” The entire class freezes, at his tone or expression, doesn't matter, they don't matter, “Marinette worked hard day and night trying to get that submitted on time, she had to research and find all the information and evidence to what this class has done because none of you would talk to her and give all the details, you refused to help out in even the most minuscule ways, No not even! you all actively made it harder!”
“Thats not-
“Enough!” Marion hones in on Lila who falls quite for once, “You lie and scheme and take credit for whats not yours, you treat the class like a bunch of mindless sheep and you know what? I’m starting to see why,”
“Marion,” Madame Bustier reprimands, finally being heard in the following silence “That is quite enough thats no example for your friends-”
“They aren’t my friends,” Marion sends a cold look over the bus, “None of them are,”
The class goes silent. Marion wouldn’t be surprised if that came as a shock to most of them. Despite them not ever talking or spending time together. It was true that the only person who had truly cut them out was Alya, probably because Marinette kept trying even after they had long since stopped with their class. Mostly he was sure they were shocked that he was the one breaking it off, not even giving them a say. They didn’t deserve one. Not that they weren't going to try.
“Fine then! I don’t want anything to do with you anyway!”
“Yeah! You act like a complete jerk then have the gall to say that?”
“We haven't been friends for a long time anyway!”
“You’re nothing but mean to Lila and think we want to be friends?!”
“Don't go forgetting you said that when your all alone!"
He sits down and resolutely stares out the window. More insults are hurled out, Marion paying no mind to the source. Madame Busiter tries to reprimand him for saying 'such hurtful things;. Lila is sobbing and everyone is offering her pointless comfort. Marion doesn't listen but is vaguely aware of Kagami and Chloe arguing with the teacher. He lets the hushed whispers fall behind him. He feels a push against his thigh where his bag rests, knowing it’s Plagg. The small comfort doing nothing.
He notices the bus is driving faster than strictly allowed. He looks over to the bus driver and feels bad for the clearly uncomfortable man stuck right in the middle of their teenage angst.
They arrive at the aquarium. Marion doesn't even try to hide his anger. Let Lila revel in his reaction. His friends try to calm him down, or rather Adrien does, Chloe and Kagami are still glaring daggers. Luckily Marinette convinces Adrien to stop before Marion snaps at him.
He catches a group near them whispering and pointing with their phones held up. Marion sends his deadliest glare and they immediately back off, scuttling off to some other area of the aquarium.
He is left alone after that. Adrien has redirected his attention to cheering Marinette up, the two pointing out fish. Seeing them smiling together Marion feels some anger slip through his grasp. Only to be promptly returned when he accidentally looks over at Lila’s gaggle, whispering and glaring. Marion glares right back making a few of them flinch. He turns and storms off to another part of the aquarium, away from the rest of the class.
“Hey kid you alright?” A fair distance away Plagg whispers from his bag.
“No! Obviously not!” Marion whisper-shouts, not looking down.
“Want to get out of here?” Now Marion does look down at Plagg grinning.
Klakki is off to the one side of the bag, looking up but not interrupting. He and the Kwami are close but they all knew he and Plagg were two halves of a whole. So the other Kwami let him handle it.
“Can’t exactly go running around Gotham right now,” Marion comes to stand in the typical tunnel that you see in aquariums, surrounded on both sides by colourful fish and a few larger creatures like stingrays and sharks.
“We can go back to Paris,” Plagg offers, he glances down at the bag to see Klakki nod.
The Kwami usually didn’t like their miraculous being used for anything but heroics. Still he got a sure nod from Klakki. Marion takes a deep breath, looking out to the fish swimming around the tank, darting in and out of coral. He forced down his anger in the same way he would in Paris. He usually didn’t let himself stay angry that long, or Marinette would help him calm down sooner.
“It’s fine,” Marion sighs, pushing the anger, or rather, his class out of mind, “I’m fine,”
Plagg doesn't comment on his obvious lie, all too used to it. He sees Plagg dart into his pocket out the corner of his eye. Marion smiles, zipping his bag back up with a smile at Klakki who gives a curt nod. He stuff his hands into his hoodie’s pocket and feels the small Kwami inside. Marion lets a small smile settle on his face. Looking out at the fish as he is pulled along by the conveyor belt as he pets Plagg purring from his pocket.
His smile only fades when he notices the rest of the class enter the tunnel, looking from the other side of the glass. He makes no move to join them, even when his friends do a minute later. He turns to look at the other side of the tunnel, doing his best to avoid them.
This becomes the least of his problems when gunshots ring. He ducks down on the non moving part of the sidewalk. Screams can be heard and he looks up through the tank where the class is still in view. Marinette is looking around for him and he curses himself, not being able to change into costume without her. Voices get closer and Marinette starts herding the class further down the tunnel, Marion losing sight of them behind coral. He moves to meet to her when two men each in a gas mask and carrying guns enter the tunnel.
“Where are the Wayne twins!” One yells, another shot making those near scream.
“You know, I’m starting to think Aunt Selina doesn't have this handled,” Marion mutters to Plagg, staying where he is to keep the thugs in sight.
“Forget about that, this won’t end well,” Klakki scolds, Marion watches as the thugs start walking in opposite directions.
“Tell me about, Lila’s going to have a field day,” Marion pulls his hood up, losing sight of the goon going towards the class, focusing now on the one heading his way.
“Not the point,” Klakki sighs, Marion zips up the bag realising he also has the Miracle box.
He throws the satchel on his back tightening the strap across his chest. Plagg was complaining, but Marion only ignores him watching the oncoming goon. He was pointing his gun at some people but wasn’t looking at their faces. Probably clothes then, there were probably plenty of pictures of what they were wearing today. Perfect.
Marion takes off his Jacket followed by his hoodie. He debates keeping his staff for a split second but quickly stuffs it in his satchel followed by his gloves. Turing both his hoodie and Jacket inside out to matching black, he ties the hoodie around his waist and shrugs on the jacket.
He lies down on the moving sidewalk slowly moving him towards the thug. Marion hugs his bag and covers his face. He tenses at the heavy footsteps going by as he slowly moves past. The goon doesn't even stop and he makes a mental note to thank Marinette. He feels the turn of a corner and rolls up onto the unmoving part to the side. Keeping his head below the glass, he crouches down running as fast as he can while refastening his satchel around his chest.
“Found one!” Marion hears a yell just as he reaches the entrance.
He ducks to the side just as all eyes in the room snap to where he was. Marion shrinks into the shadow of a fish tank just outside the entrance, ducking down and covering his head. If anyone actually saw him in his now all black outfit they could easily shrug it off as just missing him the first time.
Marion doesn't look up as people go past, no one noticing him in the shadows. He waits for a few cautious seconds for any more footsteps to go by before scanning the room. There's many civilians huddled around, the nearest security exit being covered by another thug in a gas mask, a trend it seems.
Alright plan time, Marinette can handle herself for a few minutes. Presumably these guys are working for Scarecrow if the gas masks are any indication. Scarecrow was probably with Marinette in the tunnel. If he clears an exit quietly here then he can get the civilians closest to the fight out of danger. It could also provide an entrance to whoever comes to save them.
There's no other thugs in the room so he moves silently, sticking to the shadows to get close to the emergency exit. Luckily the goon is distracted by an octopus in a nearby tank so Marion stays out of his line of sight. He gets up behind the goon, not breathing, and pounces. One hand unlatches the gas mask and covers his mouth and the other grabbing the hand holding the gun. He digs his fingers hard enough into his hand to make the wrist bleed and the gun is dropped. Marion catches it with one foot, balancing as much as possible with the man thrashing in his grip. He gently lowers the gun to the ground so it doesn't clatter. Letting go of his wrist, nails bloody Marion brings his arm around his neck. Squeezing for a minute until the goon passed out. Marion gently lowers him to the ground.
“Quietly,” He hisses to the room.
They do get up quietly. Parents with children covering their mouths as they exit. Marion makes sure they're all a good ways down the hall before tracking back to the tunnel. He can see them through the glass and as he predicted there was Scarecrow, in a very familiar monologue stance. A glimpse at Marinette's expression was all the confirmation he needed. He heads in the same direction as the moving walkway, knowing he’ll be in a blind spot.
“Still not answering,” Marion catches Scarecrow say, stopping as soon as he can hear them, “I think it’s time you screamed so he knows this is serious,”
“Going to show me the rest of your wardrobe?”
Marion's smirk quickly fades with the tell tale snap of a bone breaking. He sprints down the tunnel. Marinette groans. Marion rounds the corner. His sister holding her arm, bending at an unnatural angle. The rest of the class are huddled to the sides with various degrees of horror.
Marion doesn't give Scarecrow enough time to consider trying anything else before he attacks the nearest goon. They shout out and Marion blindly throws quick punches at whoever gets to close. The belt is moving along, Marion now being surrounded by his classmates. Kim cheers as he sends a particularly brutal punch into one guy's face. Marion hears the hiss of a guns release, looking up to see Scarecrow pointing a gun at the now very quiet Kim. Marion anticipates the shot, diving in the bullets path before it can reach its target.
There's a gasp from somewhere, someone. He feels a burst not of pain, but fear. It’s something he's used to Akuma doing, dragging up all his anxieties from the recesses of his mind. Marion shuts his eyes tight, visions dancing across the darkness. He takes a practiced slow breath. He had learnt long ago that letting fear take hold in battle would only lead to fantasy becoming reality.
Marion cracks open his eyes, focusing on where he was. They were still on the belt moving slowly. Everything around him was warped from a few seconds ago but he was still standing in the narrow-too narrow tunnel.
Alright then what is reality. Giant sharks jumping out at him? No, there’s glass. Swarm of purple butterflies? No this is Gotham they probably don’t have flowers. The past Akuma? Just regular people. Marinette covered in blood? She only broke her arm. His parents dead on the floor? They are in Paris. Lila with devil horns cackling? Probably reality.
He takes another calming breath, nothing but the images of Akuma mattered here. But there were dozens more than there had been people a minute ago so some were fake. He could still work with this. Marion takes a deep breath straightening up. The Hawkmoth in front of him looks surprised, he had to guess that was his stand in for Scarecrow right now.
He stumbles a step forward. The akumatized versions of his classmates jeer, most yelling things he had heard that day. The first Akuma leaps out at him, Marion decks him, the weight under his fist feels real and the Akuma goes right down. Focusing his fear on the fight part of fight of flight, he goes to punch the second Akuma with as much force. The blow goes right through the image and Marion stumbles forward. Alright so there were definitely fakes. Marion tousles with any Akuma that comes after him, sometimes landing hits on empty air. It’s typically the more difficult Akuma that are real, so Marion almost scoffs when Mr Pigeon comes at him. He doesn't even block the blow to his ribs. Big mistake, he is kicked back with a burst of pain and a sickening crack.
‘Alright so that was real’ Marion thinks to himself, back connecting with the glass behind him. He falls forward, right on his chest. Marion groans into the metal below, losing focus, letting images of Akumas flying into his ring play on loop. Marion can feel pressure at his back but is far too focused on trying to heave air back into his lungs to care. The weight lifts and Marion watches Marinette's akumatized form crash in front of him, punching what looks like Viperion. Not sure if it's a memory or not he shudders a breath as she knocks out Viperion and leans over Marion.
“Good job C, I’ve got it from here,” Marinette words come out sickeningly sinister, blood running out her eyes and mouth. A great contrast to how she gently pushes him onto his side, making it somewhat easier to breathe.
Marion watches as the twisted version of his sister attacks what looks like civilians. Part of him itches to get up to stop her. Marinette's arm hangs limply at her side. He focuses on that. an Akuma's arm wouldn’t be broken. Civilians wouldn’t have guns. Marinette dodges the bullets instead of deflecting them. Bullets wouldn’t just go through sharks with more rows of teeth than possible. Water doesn't look like blood.
Marion takes a deep breath, his chest burst with pain. It’s fine he can handle that. And with that Marion notices his body bending at an odd angle. He looks down ignoring the corpses of his family laying around him. His legs are still propped up on the unmoving part of the sidewalk. With a grunt Marion pulls them onto the moving part, still not comfortable on top of the shifting plates.
Marion hears screaming, more grounded than the shrieks that have been playing in his head so far. Looking back to Marinette she looked like herself again, yay. But now Hawkmoth was pointing a gun at their friends, oh no. Why would Hawk Moth have a gun? Oh right, fear toxin. Marinette surrenders, letting Mayura come up behind and hold her.
“You have been a pain,” Hawkmoth drawls, Marion hisses, drawing his attention, “Well, it’s not like we need both of you alive,”
The gun points at him, Marinette is shouting but it sounds under water. Marion's visions clear slightly, focusing in on the slow press of the trigger. At the last second the gun jerks to the side, the sound of glass breaking followed by a stream of water landing on Marion. He looks up to see Chloe has tackled Hawkmoth and Kagami is after Mayura.
Fighting breaks out again, he tries to refocus. He closes his eyes, he can hear the same echoing shrieks and cries for help, accusations and insults. Cold water beats down on his side and slowly moves down his leg. He tries to take a deep breath, only to inhale water. Marion's eyes snap open to what looks like a pool of blood as he is cast into a coughing fit, his chest screaming in protest.
“Are you ok!” Kagami yells, Marion looks up to where they were only for the space to be empty. He looks back down the tunnel where they are now fighting, streams of water jetting out from the walls in all directions.
Marion keeps coughing, trolling onto his back to get away from the water. When he's done he takes short shallow breaths, chest still throbbing with pain. He looks back up and is now a fair way from the fight, about to go around the corner.
“Don’t worry I’ll be back in five minutes!” he shouts, hair dripping water in his eyes. That doesn't stop him from seeing Marinette's clearly deadpan face, that cant even be hidden by all the blood.
He lies back, looking up at the ceiling. Or rather Jaws' source of envy grinning down at him. Well at least that's better- oh nope that's his family floating dead in the water. He just sighs ignoring his chest protest, staring right back into the sharks beady black eyes. He remember the good old days where he would tease Marinette over her demented nightmare version of Adrien, who now that he though of also appeared in the water, banging on the glass shouting for help. Marion sticks his tongue out at him.
The minutes drag on Marion trying to be more fascinated than terrified with whatever his mind conjured. It was easier to calm down when the scene wasn't changing every ten seconds.
“Are you ok?” Batman is looming over him, Marion stares unimpressed at the blood dripping from his sharp teeth. A vampire? Really? His nightmares could be so uncreative.
“I’m fine,” Marion keeps his face straight at the nightmare before him, “Go ahead I’ll catch up,”
“You should stay here,” Batman reprimands, voice sounding like a growled threat, probably was.
“Don’t really have much choice,” Marion dismisses, trying not to cringe at the ‘blood’ dripping onto his face.
Marion leans back slightly to watch Batman join Robin running down the tunnel. Marion hears more gunshots seconds later. He hums to himself stubbornly ignoring his chest.
“Dude are you ok?” Nino is now leaning over him, hollowed out eyes and shadows behind him shouting about Marion's insecurities.
“Leave me demon,” Marion watches him reel back, he would probably look confused if Marion could actually read his face.
“We need to move you-”
“Do not,” Marion cuts him off, glaring down at Kim or at least a demon that looked like him trying to pick him up, “My ribs are very much broken and moving would hurt very much right now, thank you,”
“But you’re heading right for the villain!” Mylene shouts, voice sounding hollow, drowned out by echoing screams.
“Then I hope they don’t step on me, good day,” Marion focuses back on the shark which is somehow easier to deal with than his class.
“Everyone we need to go,” Lila's voice sounds normal, and that's probably the worst thing he's heard today, “Batman said-”
“We’re not just going to leave him here!” Kim shouts. Actually shouts. At Lila. Marion can’t keep the smile off his face.
“Kim, just go get an ambulance or something, right now you’re all freaking me out,” Marion says honestly, tired of sugar coating his words. Lila gives them enough sugar to get diabetes as is.
“A-are you sure?” Max asks, or a strange mix between him and Markov.
“Yes floating head I’m sure, now go,”
“... stay safe,” Nino hesitantly stands.
“Don’t really have a choice in the matter,” Marion doesn't bother watching them go.
He hears the last of their footsteps retreat and glances up at the shark. A petty part of him categories that as the second time they’ve left him today. Then again he was staring up at his personal hell so his thought process wasn’t exactly un hindered.
Marion keeps humming, noticing a knocked out thug to his side, followed by another.
“Why did you come back?” Robin snarls from above him, horns sprouting from his head.
“I didn’t by choice,” Marion says calmly as Robin throws a knife he doesn't care to keep track of, “Moving sidewalk brought me,”
“Why didn’t you get off?” Robin talks down to him like an idiot child, punching an approaching goon.
“Oh yeah, my ribs are broken,” Marion tries to shrug, lying on his back it’s hard.
“What!?” Robin thunders, the sound sending warning flares off in his paranoid state.
“Oh look at that,” Marion says, idly watching a man come up behind Robin, who apparently isn't an apparition because Robin attacks him, “Well, see ya,”
Marion is carried away, leaving the two behind.
He flinches back when Batman steps over him, attacking Scarecrow on his other side.
“What are you doing?” He growls, Marion can’t be sure if that's the fear toxin or how he usually speaks.
“Thought you could use the moral support,” Marion gives a lazy cheer as Batman punches Scarecrow. Getting a glare from Batman he had become quite accustomed to the night before. This Batman looked demented but there was the same lingering satisfaction of annoying him.
“Hey Mari,” Marinette crouches down next to him, covered in blood he can’t be sure isn’t real, but at least she's not dead in a fish tank, “How’re you holding up,”
“You’re covered in blood,” Marion blurts as she starts bleeding more.
“No I’m not, don’t worry I’m fine, just wait a second,” Marion runs over to Batman, distracting him from stopping Scarecrow from standing. Batman looks over at him before handing Marinette a needle.
“Oh sure use needles, one of the most common fears, to fix fear, what a grand idea,” Marion mutters, glaring back at Batman as Scarecrow attacks with a knife.
“Ah ha, stop complaining,” Marinette sticks the needle right in his arm without warning, Marion gasps visions fading into darkness.
“That…. was rude,” He weakly curses, feeling his conscious fade.
“You’ll forgive me,” Marinette promises sitting by his side as his eyes droop, “Get some rest, I’ll watch out for you,”
“Always do, Bug,” Marion slurs, Marinette's bright smile contrasts the darkness that follows.

Birthday Girl-ImAllexx
“Can u do an Alex imagine where it’s reader’s birthday so Alex throws a party in the flat and in the midst of it all her and Alex sneak off to his room where he gives her his present and it’s all cute until things escalate and he eats her out as a birthday treat”

_________
“Alex, I swear if you threw a party too-” “Oh, c'mon Y/n. You know I would never.” Alex and Y/n had been walking back to their flat, they had already made it to their floor level. Y/n’s boyfriend had taken her out for dinner, it wasn’t anything fancy, but it was her favorite restaurant. Luckily the restaurant wasn’t too fancy, Alex had worn his usual outfit of a hoodie, a snapback, and a few rings to dinner. “Alex, you’ve already done so much for me today, a surprise party would be too much.” This morning Alex had shown up at Y/n’s door with a boutique of roses, they had gone out shopping for Y/n. Anything she picked out, he had bought for her without hesitation. A few fans had bumped into them as well, of course they took a moment to take photos together. As soon as they had gotten to their front door, Y/n opened the door, only to have the lights flick on automatically along with people yelling ‘surprise!’ Out of nowhere, Alex and Y/n’s square-headed friend had run up to them, unleashing a confetti popper at them. Y/n couldn’t help but let out a laugh. “But seriously though, happy birthday, Y/n,” Will grinned, taking a step back from his friends. “Thanks, Will,” Y/n to a moment to give Will a brief hug before pulling away. Finally, she looked around and noticed the familiar faces that had agreed with Alex to throw a party. It honestly seemed like everyone was there. George, James, Gee, Mia, Angelika, Aria, Fraser, Lewis, Ciaran, Becky, Callum, Ethan, Stephen, Chris,. “I few people are late,” Alex whispered, wrapping his arms around his girlfriend from behind her. “I’m sorry.” “Are you joking?” Y/n glanced at her boyfriend, “This is amazing Alex.” “You like it?” “Absolutely,” turning to face her boyfriend, she continued to speak. “Bubba, this is amazing. I love it, thank you.” “Anything for you, Y/n.” The party was going great, music had been turned on and people were chatting. Alcohol had been set up in the kitchen, Alex had left Y/n be to go make her a drink. The h/c girl hadn’t got a chance to find out her friends had brought presents for her, the gifts had been placed in Alex’s bedroom. A while later, Y/n was in the middle of a conversation with Chris, Chloe, George, and Angelika. Alex had brought Y/n her drink and was getting his own. The group had been talking about when they were in high school and their different experiences. Just Y/n had gone to speak again, a hand wrapped around hers. Glancing over, Y/n found herself looking over at her boyfriend. “Do you mind if I steal my girlfriend away from you guys?” “Go ahead,” George grinned as he wrapped an arm around Angelika. With that, Alex began to pull Y/n away from the crowd, heading down the hallway. Reaching Alex’s bedroom, the brunette had closed the door behind them, locking it to make sure no one could interrupt their moment. Walking over to the edge of the bed, Y/n took a seat. “Are those for me?” her gaze had been stolen by a pile of gifts sitting in the corner of the room. “Yeah, we were gonna wait for later tonight to show you your gifts, but I forgot they were in here,” her boyfriend replied as he walked over the nightstand that stood to the right of the bed. Pulling the bottom drawer open, he began to rummage around for something important. “What are you looking for?” Finally, his eyes had set on it. A small black box that had been placed at the bottom of his drawer. He had gotten it a while ago and didn’t want there to be any chance of Y/n stumbling across it one day. “This,” Alex smiled, pulling out the box as he moved to shit by Y/n. “I know I bought all that stuff for you today, but this came in a few weeks ago.” He opened the box, revealing a beautiful aquamarine stone that sat on top of a silver band ring. Six accent stones sat on the ring, complimenting the aquamarine stone. Y/n let out a gasp at the sight of it. “Alex… I can’t accept this, you’ve already given me so much.” “Y/n, please take it. There’s no reason I’m gonna wear this.” It took a moment before Y/n gave a nod, continuing to stare at the ring. Taking the silver band out of the box, Alex slipping it onto his girlfriend’s ring finger, watching her reaction to it. The ring had fit like a glove, it was absolutely perfect. “Oh my god, I love it,” Y/n cooed, keeping her eyes on the ring, afraid that if she just glanced away from it for a second, it’d magically disappear. “And I love you.” “I love you, Alex.” Gently, Alex placed two of his fingers under Y/n’s chin, lifting her face to make eye contact with him. As soon as their eyes had met, Alex’s lips collided with hers. The kiss had created a passionate moment between them, which only lead to Alex hovering over Y/n, his snapback being tossed off by his girlfriend. Y/n’s fingers dragged through Alex’s hair, making it become a bit messy. Once the kiss had ended, Alex had moved down to her neck, beginning to kiss, nip, or bite anywhere that could get a reaction on of Y/n. Finally, Y/n let a breathy moan out as Alex bit gently on the right of her neck. “You gotta be quiet, Y/n,” Alex hushed her. “We don’t want anyone finding out what we’re doing.” Y/n only gave a small hum as a response. She was used to being quite vocal in the bedroom, so if this was going to go any farther, she’d have a challenge to face. While Alex had worked on making his mark on her neck, his free hand had moved down her waist slowly. As soon as Alex’s hand had touched the edge of Y/n’s pants, his hand had somehow found its way underneath the fabric. Biting her lip, Y/n had fought back a moan as her grip on Alex’s hair had tightened. The brunette let a chuckle out from her tensed state. His hand had traveled even deeper, his fingers pressing against her entrance. “Please, Alex… don’t tease.” Hearing those words leave Y/n’s lips had ignited something inside of Alex. He wanted to get her to whine and fight back moans. Alex slid two fingers in, beginning to move his hand back and forth. Of course his fingering had been at its best with Y/n’s pants in the way. At this point Y/n was gripping onto the sheets, fearing if she made one noise their friends would hear them. Pulling his hand out of Y/n, Alex had begun to work on unbuttoning his girlfriend’s pants, only for her to take over as Alex moved to take her shoes off. Once Y/n was able to wiggle off her pants she laid back down, excited for what was to come next. Two of Alex’s fingers had slid back into Y/n, beginning to move fast. A small low moan had escaped the h/c girl’s lips as she leaned her head back. “Fuck, Y/n… you’re so wet.” Just hearing those words leave Alex’s lips, had only made Y/n feel butterflies appear in her stomach. Alex had added a third finger, beginning to curl his fingers when he’d thrust his fingers in. “Oh my god,” Y/n panted, at this point she could barely talk. It seemed like every time her and Alex would have an intimate moment in bed, she’d forget how well he was with his hands. Slowly, she could feel herself coming closer and closer to her edge. Just as Y/n had felt herself clench around her boyfriend’s fingers, Alex had pulled his fingers away from Y/n’s entrance. Immediately from the lost of contact, Y/n let out a whine. “Don’t worry, Y/n,” her boyfriend let out a chuckle as he positioned himself between her legs. “You’ll get to come.” Alex had buried his head in between her legs. His tongue moving from side to side, in and out. Y/n let out small moans as her hands could be found gripping onto Alex’s hair once again. “You taste amazing,” Alex muttered against her pussy, causing vibrations of his voice against her clit. If Y/n wasn’t in heaven already, she certainly was now. Giving a tug at Alex’s hair, Y/n bit her lip as she fought back a moan. Just from feeling Y/n tug at his hair, Alex let out a soft groan. Once again, the familiar feeling of herself getting closer and closer had been created. Right as she had come to the edge, Alex had switched what he was doing. He had begun to suck on her clit only to have the h/c girl cover her mouth, muffling a loud moan. And just like that, she had come. Sitting up, Alex looked down at the mess his girlfriend had become. Y/n had been panting to catch her breath after that amazing orgasm, a tint of blush had appeared on her cheeks. Just from the sight of the state Y/n was in had caused Alex to place a proud smirk on his face because he was the one to make his girlfriend end up this way. Licking his lips, Alex gave a wink before standing up, trying to relocate where his snapback had gone. After a moment of catching her breath, Y/n had gotten up from the bed, putting her underwear and pants on after she had found them tossed in the corner of the room. There was a moment of silence between the couple as they recollected themselves. They took turns standing by the mirror to fix their hair and tidy up their clothes. As soon as they had finished, Alex unlocked the bedroom door. “You ready to get back to your party?” “Yeah,” Y/n grinned taking her boyfriend’s hand in hers. Once they stepped out of the room, Alex leaned in, whispering something to his girlfriend. “Did you enjoy your present, birthday girl?”

Instincts Sucks Ch.11
Look at that, I finally updated! This chapter gave me quite the struggle. Not fully satisfied with this chapter but sometimes you just gotta suck it up and just post it and move forward.
You can follow the fic here on Ao3 or ff.net
Hope you enjoy the update.
The sun rose above Paris for a new day as the light penetrated through the curtains in one of Le Grand Paris’s hotel rooms. Movement rustled beneath the bed sheets until teal-tipped black hair surfaced, along with a pair of tattooed arms following behind, arching into a stretch.
Head leaning back into the pillows, a stream of a sunbeam peeked from the center of the curtains caught Luka’s eyes, making the young man flinch back from the sudden brightness.
“Fuck,” he hissed, turning to his side, back facing the window to hide from the sunlight. One of the worst ways to wake in the morning.
Feeling the warmth of a body next to him, Luka wrapped his arm around Kagami’s waist and curled against her, revealing the warmth skin-to-skin contact. He hummed and nuzzled his nose against his fiancee’s cheek and neck, earning himself a hum from her as she began to stir awake.
“Good morning, my flame,” Luka whispered, laying a kiss on the shell of Kagami’s ear. He slid his hand beneath the sheets and ran his fingers along the bare skin. “Did you have a good night?”
“Very much so,” she sighed.
She spun around, pushing Luka on his back so she could lay on his chest. Head resting between his shoulder and collar bone, her right hand laying across his chest. Luka’s right arm curled around Kagami, holding her close. He loved waking up in the morning with his muse, his love.
“Since you held your end of the bargain of giving me one hell of a romantic night,” he felt her breath mumble against his skin, “I’m curious about this favor of yours you wanted?”
Luka rubbed his hand back and forth along the curve of her back, “Well... I need you to distract Marinette today.”
“Oh?” a dark brow raised in interest, Kagami’s caramel gaze flickering up to sea blue.
“Our golden alpha friend wishes to go shopping for some courting gifts.”
“I see,” she hummed, “He’s finally learning to not hesitate.”
The couple chuckled, it’s become a common Tsurugi saying and every time it brought the two to a fit of laughter.
“Very well. I can distract Marinette for the day. I’m sure she could use a girl’s day out with friends from everything that’s been going on.”
“Perfect. But please be careful. Without knowing who’s going after Adrien and Marinette, anyone could be dangerous.”
Kagami rose up and pecked Luka’s lips, “You worry too much, my song.”
Pushing herself up, the sheets flowed down her body, bunching up in her lap, “Whoever is responsible for spreading these rumors and info of their private lives can’t be too much threat if that’s all they’ve done. They sound like nothing but a coward who’s hiding behind anonymity.”
Luka rose himself up, leaning his weight on his hands as he looked at Kagami. He admired her courage for believing that strength will overcome situations such as this, but when it revolved around anything with her, Marinette, or Adrien, he couldn’t help but feel partially uneasy. Other than his mother, his sister, and his sister’s girlfriend, these three were his family too, his personal pack. He couldn’t afford to be non-cautious.
“I understand, love, but remember when we thought the same with your cousin?”
He watched as Kagami froze from her process of getting out of bed. Her body stiffened, back facing him, her hands curling into the blankets. It wasn’t an intention to bring the memory back, but he knew it was the only way to ensure Kagami understood his fears.
Luka heard her shutter before speaking, “She should have told us, Lu. We could have helped her, saved her before she disappeared.”
Kagami felt the weight shift on the bed until the warmth of her fiance’s arms wrapped around her stomach. His breath breathing against the skin of her neck as he rested his head on her shoulder. She placed an arm over his.
She heard him softly state, “I’m sorry. I just wanted to make sure you understood my fears. You know I’d go insane if I lost you or the others.”
“I know,” Kagami turned around in his grasp and kissed him.
Once they broke away, she offered him a smile, “You’re very protective, even though people wouldn’t think it. I love that about you.”
Pushing herself off the bed, she turned, facing Luka. His gaze glancing over her bare body didn’t go unnoticed by her. Leave it to her mate to be easily taken by her bare skin. Damn, she loves her omega.
“Besides,” she watched Luka snap attention back to her, “Marinette will have two alphas and a beta, who can easily pass off as an alpha with how Alya acts. We’ll be fine.”
Luka smiled, “I trust you.”
Feeling pleased, Kagami made her way to the bathroom, disappearing around the corner and turning on the shower. With the water running, she poked her head out and saw Luka leaning back, head up and eyes closed with a soft smile on his face. He was too handsome for his own good she always thought.
“Aren’t you coming?” asked Kagami.
The hilarity of the way his head snapped to her, eyes wide and confused. She was surprised he didn’t get whiplash.
“What?”
“Come on,” she soothed, “my omega deserves an award after taking care of his alpha last night.”
She disappeared back in the bathroom again, biting her lip from laughing at the sound of his whimper, and the soft, “this sexy beast is gonna be the death of me.” Damn straight she is. She was gonna make sure he felt the exact way he made her feel last night and leave love bites on that handsome skin of his.
The more she thought about it, the more she felt they would be running a bit late this morning. Though she’s sure the others could wait a bit while she spent more time with her mate.
Hearing the footsteps making their way towards the bathroom, Kagami walked into the large shower and awaited Luka.
******
Adrien was waiting on the front steps of the Agreste Mansion when Luka pulled in front of the mansion in his black Audi Q7. The blonde watched as the passenger’s tinted window rolled down to see Luka, sporting his sunglasses, leaning over shouting him to get in.
“So, where are we headed?” asked Adrien.
“We’re heading to the La Defense Business District for the Les Quatre-Temps Mall. I figured that would be our best bet to find anything of interest for your courting gifts for Marinette.”
Making a right down the next street, Luka quickly glanced over to the young alpha before reverting his attention back onto the road.
“Were you able to figure out a list as I asked you to? Knowing how romantic you are I’m feeling confident that you jotted down appropriate items.”
He heard Adrien chuckled as he shifted in the passenger seat, “Of course I did, professor.”
Luka sighed out a laugh as he heard Adrien pull out his phone and unlock the home screen, “And you made sure it wasn’t items simply for value? That all items you thought of were for the purpose of the union?”
“Of course,” stated Adrien as he pulled up the notepad app with his list, softly mumbling, “...even though it was hard.”
Even though it was mumbled, Luka heard Adrien’s slight pout clearly and burst out into laughter.
“Adrien...I know you have all the money to buy anything you can, especially for Marinette. But when it comes to courting your mate, money isn’t always a necessity. And you and I both know that Marinette isn’t one for expensive items because she would like them. Like a true omega, she values what comes from the heart.”
Adrien sighs, “I know. It’s just so hard not to just spoil her. She deserves everything.”
“I can understand, believe me. I deal with the same viewpoint through Kagami. She wants to spoil me with everything she thinks I need when I really don’t need them. You two are the same. Two sides of a coin. The two of you show your love and affection with your wealth, but know that none of that matters to us more than the meaning behind the gift itself.”
“No wonder why Marinette always talked to you growing up, you’re so easy to talk to.”
The blonde heard his omega friend chuckle as the car came to the large mall area.
Cutting back the speed of the car, the two came upon some open parking spots and pulled into one. Once Luka shut off the car, both men stepped out and were greeted by their two shopping companions; Nino and Nathaneal.
“Hey, dudes!” greeted Nino.
“Hey, guys! Thanks for joining me today,” replied Adrien.
“It’s no problem, man,” said Nathaneal, smiling. “Chloe was insisting I get out of the studio for a bit. Plus, I might buy some more art supplies while we’re out and about. Running low on some items.”
“Yea, man,” came Nino, “Can’t let our bro down, you know. Bros help bros.”
“Well then, us bros better get started then,” stated Luka.
Before heading off, Adrien took out a pair of sunglasses and put them on. Turning to Nino, his friend handed him an extra cap hat, a simple black one as he placed it on top of his head and flipped it backward.
Smiling, the blonde looked at Luka and smiled. The older man looked at his friend with a raised brow, curious for the sudden add ons.
“Trying to stay conspicuous from the media,” said Adrien.
Luka shook his head as Nathaneal laughed, “We’re hanging out with Luka the rock star, Adrien. It might be hard to stay conspicuous.”
“Well, hopefully, my absence from Paris in the past few years will prevent Parisians noticing me right off the bat.”
With that, Luka took the lead, ready to get this trip started. As the men started heading down the shopping center, Luka asked for Adrien’s list to look at as they walked along the crowds of fellow shoppers.
“Not a bad list, Adrien,” said Luka.
Thumbing through the phone, Luka hummed until he nodded his head and handed the phone back to Adrien.
“I’m thinking we should start with the craft stores. That way Nat could grab what he needs” -looking at Adrien- “and we can start off easy for stuff to buy Marinette.”
******
“No.”
Adrien felt the slap against the back of his head along with Luka’s command.
The blonde swerved to look at his omega friend, “I wasn’t going to buy it!”
The young alpha watched as the rocker raised a brow and pointedly stared at him with disbelief.
“I wasn’t!” Adrien shouted in defense.
“Sure you weren’t,” replied Luka, still disbelieving Adrien’s response.
And to Adrien’s utter disbelief, Nino sided with Luka on the matter. What kind of best friend would betray him for another friend?! Well, both Nino and Luka were his best friends but it still stung. He wasn’t that impulsive when buying things. Even for a special occasion.
“Sorry dude, I’m sticking with Luka on this one. I know how you can be when buying things at times. And with you being all new to this...these hormones of the alpha, there’s no denying that you’ll go on an unnecessary splurge of purchasing, especially for Marinette.”
“Thank you, Nino.”
Adrien pouted as he softly glared at the two men beside him, “Traitors,” -he sighed and mumbling- “I bet Nat would understand as a fellow artist and the needs for Marinette.”
“As artists ourselves” -Luka pointing a finger between him and Nino- “We know what Marinette may or may not need. I can assure you that Marinette doesn’t need all these things, particularly a new sewing machine.”
Adrien’s whimper only added to the humor of the situation. Both Nino and Luka rolled their eyes at the theatrics of their alpha friend.
If left uncharged, Luka was sure Adrien wouldn’t waste time buying Marinette enough supplies that could easily turn her bedroom into a home studio. And if there was anything Luka knew as Marinette’s confidant, she valued the more thoughtful supplies than new and updated supplies just because they were top of the line’ quality.
“Remember, we’re here for the thoughtful and heartfelt items, not new and expensive,” stated Luka, setting his foot down. There were days like today that he felt he was a father fighting against his child, but he guessed that’s what it was like when you adopted someone like Adrien as a metaphorical brother.
Feeling sympathetic for his friend, Luka walked up to Adrien and laid a comforting hand on the blonde’s shoulder. Giving his shoulder a light squeeze he looked at the row of sewing machines, “I know you want what’s best for her, but perhaps when you decide to ask her hand for marriage,” -Luka looked down at Adrien, smirking and enjoying the reaction of a red-faced alpha- “you can then buy her a new sewing machine. The one she has now is one she cherishes for a different form of value. But I promise when the time comes you can spoil her to your heart’s content. For now, focus on the most desired necessities that she could use more and has a harder time gathering.”
Luka’s smile softened in relief when he felt the alpha’s shoulder’s relaxed.
“Thanks, Luka.” He looked at said omega and raised a brow, “You know, you’re better with words than you give yourself credit too. Seriously. If it weren’t for your love of music, I think you’d make a great guidance counselor.”
That made Luka break out in small laughter, “Thanks, but I’m a little naturally too quiet I think for a job like that. I’m just comfortable with the people I care about. For now, let’s focus on the goal we set out for today.”
He hummed in question, receiving a smile and nod from both Adrien and Nino.
“Alright. Now, let’s go to the fabric section and see what kind of fabrics they have that Marinette would like. As you put down on your list, fabrics were one of the items you wanted to get for your courting gift.”
Giving a nod to Luka, Adrien smiled and led the group towards the fabric section.
Within thirty minutes of browsing the fabric aisle, Adrien managed to reel in a total of five fabric rolls he deemed the most important to purchase for Marinette. However, being the romantic man that he is, Luka, Nino, and Nathaneal had to reel in Adrien a couple of times from buying half the fabrics inventory. Leave it to the son of a fashion designer willing to buy the store's stocks.
Eventually, Adrien gave in when Luka explained he only had so much space in his car and that they still had to search for his other courting gifts. The omega knew he was in for a busy day, he just hadn’t imagined he’d spend most of the time, keeping Adrien on track from going overboard with his spending.
Though the moment he thought about Kagami and what she had been willing to do in the past with buying stuff for him, and is still doing every now and then, he assumed there wasn’t much that should have surprised him. His fiancee and Adrien were practically similar to a core.
With each member of the group grabbing rolls of fabric, the young men traveled to the front of the store for the checkout counter.
The young women managing the counter looked up to greet them as they approached.
“Hello,” she greeted with a friendly smile. “Did you gentlemen find everything you needed today?”
“I think so,” answered Luka. “Our friend here” -gesturing towards Adrien- “wanted to buy some fabrics for his girlfriend and surprise her.”
“Aw, how sweet,” she smiled as she looked at Adrien. “She’s a lucky lady. Did you need the fabrics cut at all or are you buying the entire roll?”
“No, thank you,” replied Adrien. “I plan to purchase the entire rolls, please.”
“Excellent. I’ll get these rung up for you.”
As they piled the five fabrics onto the counter, the cashier began to scan each roll of fabric. Clicking a few buttons, the cashier read off the total amount for the bundles of fabric.
“Alright, your total cost for the five rolls of fabric will be two hundred and seventy-nine euros and eighty-nine francs,” the cashier smiled.
As Adrien pulled out his wallet for his debit card, the group didn’t notice the cashier glancing at Luka with a questioning look.
When Adrien pulled out his debit card to swipe it, the cashier finished the purchase and handed over the receipt to the alpha when she finally spoke to Luka.
“I’m sorry to bother you, but” -the cashier was debating whether to ask or not, but in the end decided to take the plunge- “you wouldn’t happen to be Luka Couffaine? International rock star by chance?”
Luka’s shocked face and overall reaction to the comment answered the young woman’s question. Behind him and Adrien, Nathaneal glanced at Nino and grinned. Holding his hand out in front of Nino, he mumbled, “Told you.”
Annoyed and rolling his eyes, Nino pulled out his wallet and placed a twenty euro into Nathaneal’s hand.
“Oh my god! I can’t believe you’re back here in Paris! How long are you staying in Paris? Can I get a photo with you?”
On and on, the young woman kept firing questions as she pulled out her phone from her back pocket and began snapping pictures and recording video.
The commotion snagging the attention of the other employees in the store.
“Rachele, what’s going on up there?” one of them asked as they walked into view a few feet away.
The young woman looked over in full excitement, “We have a celebrity here! The one and only, Luka Couffaine!”
Her co-worker raised a brow in confusion, showing no knowledge of who she was speaking about. That eased Luka a little, already being nervous that the current situation might jump into pandemonium if more people knew he was in town.
However, the other employee glanced over to Adrien beside him and recognition took over.
“Oh my goodness,” the woman stated, “Adrien Agreste?”
That was enough for Luka to decide it was time to leave the store before hell broke loose. The last thing he needed was to end up spending the day running around Paris being chased by fans.
“It was lovely meeting you ladies but we are on a tight schedule,” he gave the cashier a tight smile and grabbed some of the supplies. Turning to the boys, “Alright, let’s go.”
Following Luka’s lead, Nino, Nathaneal, and Adrien all grabbed a roll and speed-walked out of the fabric store. The moment the door closed behind them, all the boys broke out into a run towards Luka’s car. After tossing the materials into the trunk, all four of them hopped in the car and drove off, heading to the next location for the next item, hoping that the little encounter wouldn’t come biting them in the ass.
******
After the little hiccup at the fabric store, the day went along smoothly as the boys hopped from store to store, helping Adrien find the best among the items on his list. The simple shades and hat provided enough of a disguise for Adrien as they walked among other Parisians.
However, after the small incident at the fabric store, Luka stopped by the nearest store that sold clothing and bought himself a beanie to hide most of his hair. Sure, his highlights were one of his easiest trademarks, but hiding most of it under the beanie seemed good enough to prevent fans from noticing at first glance.
Grabbing the second and third item on his list, Adrien led the group towards the nearest jewelry store. As the group came upon the entrance of the store, the three other men looked surprised.
“Dude,” Nino being the first to break the silence, his voice soft and small out of surprise. “When we joked around about marriage, we didn’t mean it literally.”
“I’m not going to buy an engagement ring you guys, I promise,” replied Adrien. Even though the thought of buying one then and there wasn’t tempting. “We’re here to buy a nice and simple necklace that Marinette can wear when she wants. I was thinking of one of those necklaces that has a piece that displays something like their hobbies. Like, a piece that is an image of a sewing machine or fashion related.”
“Hmmm, that’s actually a nice idea,” spoke Nathaneal. “I think I’ll see if they have anything for Chloe here. Maybe one with a bee.”
“I wonder if they have anything with fencing and music,” mumbled Luka.
Smiling at his friends, Adrien led the group into the jewelry store, and each split into their own ways in search of a specific piece of jewelry for their significant other.
Surprisingly for the group, after an hour in the jewelry store, they managed to each find something related to their partners in jewelry. Nino found a pair of earrings with Microphones and a pair with books. Knowing that Alya had pierced her ears last year and her spike in journalism, the earrings felt like a nice homage to her skills. He was glad that Alya wasn’t always into the fancy side of jewelry. She never had the taste for bright and shiny jewelry bits. It was more of the simple and basic meaning of the jewelry she enjoyed most. Plus, he felt this was better suited for when she was out doing her journalism side gigs.
As for Nathanael, he found a necklace with two bees and purchased a custom bracelet with variations of art supply pieces and fashion to symbolize their relationship. And most importantly, he made sure they had a nice amount of diamonds throughout both pieces. He knew how much Chloe liked her diamonds, no matter the worth of the diamond. The redhead omega was proud of his queen bee as she grew into a person that Chloe herself could be proud of and shine. She might have had struggles with her distant mother in America, but his queen has proven what a protector she can be to those she holds dear.
For Luka, he purchased a custom necklace design with small diamonds and a silver custom fencing foil hanging in the center. Second, he purchased a silver bracelet with engravings of music notes and their nicknames for one another. Smiling, he placed the items in their specialized box and into the bag. Next to him, Adrien smiled excitingly as he purchased a custom design necklace and bracelet with fashion icons and pink diamond. He knew Marinette always had a love for pink and felt that it fit her bubbly personality, however, he did pay for a second one with sapphire gems to match her dusk blue eyes thinking it would go along well with more formal outings such as events or dates.
Placing the necklaces and bracelets in their boxes, Adrien grabbed his back and followed the group outside, each one of them shouting their thanks to the employees of the store.
Crossing off the fourth item on Adrien’s list, the young alpha was beaming in pride as he felt things were getting accomplished for his courting for Marinette. Looking back at his list, the group jerked in surprise when the sound of a cell phone ringer echoed out. All four men reaching into their pockets, Nino, Nathaneal, and Adrien glanced at silent phones but looked up to see Luka’s expression confused.
“Everything okay, Luka?” asked Adrien.
They watched as Luka’s brows furrowed in confusion staring at the screen.
“I’m not sure who this number is? I wasn’t expecting any calls from work since I’m taking a vacation right now.,” stated Luka.
“Perhaps you should answer it,” came Nathaneal's voice, “If it’s from work, they might be using a different phone to get a hold of you.”
Still confused, Luka gave a small nod, “Perhaps.”
Answering the call, Luka held the phone to her ear as he greeted the caller on the other end with a hello.
As the other boys watched in silence, the peaceful day they had begun to sour as they watched Luka’s expression turn from confusion to wide-eye shock.
“W-what do you mean she got attacked? Is she okay?!”
The other boys grew worried as they listened to Luka’s panicked conversation with the caller on the phone. They watched and waited patiently when Nino’s phone went off for an incoming message.
Glancing at his phone, the young beta unlocked his phone and read the text message he received from Alya. Squinting at the text, Nino’s expression turned to shock as he glanced up at the others.
“What’s going on?” asked Adrien.
Before Nino could speak, Luka hung up the call and glanced at the group, and ordered them to get in the car.
“Luka, what’s happening?” Adrien asked again, panic starting to seep into his mind.
“Everyone get in the car,” ordered Luka.
“Luka!” stressed Adrien.
“Get in the car!” demanded Luka.
Adrien hunched under Luka’s glare. The bright bluish silver hue glow of Luka’s omega eyes pierced straight into him and froze him in place. As terrified as he should have been by the older member of their pack, Adrien saw the worry and fear glinting within the omega’s stare. More concerned about his friend’s fear than the repercussions of his demand.
"Luka” whimpered Adrien.
The alpha watched as Luka flinched and snapped out of his hunch position and leaned away from Adrien. The blonde watched quietly as Luka took a deep breath, his eyes never wavering from the omega form. And looking closer, Adrien could see Luka on the verge of tears. Whatever fear was lingering within Luka, he knew he wasn’t looking forward to knowing.
“I’m sorry,” breathed Luka, “but I was informed Kagami is in the hospital. I need to get there.”
‘Kagami in the hospital?’
Hearing that Kagami was in the hospital dropped a pit in his stomach. Though what added to the fear was if Kagami was in the hospital, where was Marinette?
Nino’s voice broke through Adrien’s internal struggle but it didn’t help the fear turn into full-blown panic.
“I know what you’re thinking dude,” Adrien and the others turned to Nino to find the same dread in his eyes. “Marinette’s in the hospital too. Tom and Sabine contacted her to get to us. She’s making her way there now.”
Without a word, Luka and Adrien rushed towards the car, Nino and Nathaneal following right behind them. Throwing the bags, uncaring where they landed, Luka started the car and sped off into traffic towards the hospital shared to him from the call.
******
How they managed to get to the hospital without ending up in a car accident or simply crashing with the way Luka sped through Paris, they had no clue. Though the main concern of getting to Marinette and Kagami outweighed all the ‘hows’ of miraculously making it to the hospital unscathed.
Screeching into the nearest open parking spot, Luka shut the car off, Luka and Adrian were the first to rush out of the car and speed through the parking lot and through the lobby of the building.
Luka quickly rushed towards the window and gathered the nurse’s attention, Adrien moving right beside him.
“We’re here for Kagami Tsurugi and Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” stated Luka.
“Can I ask the two of you your relations to either of the two?” asked the nurse.
“I’m Luka Couffaine, Kagami is my fiancee. Adrien Agreste is Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s boyfriend. We were informed by the family to come.”
Turning to the computer, the nurse punched the two names in and looked behind them gesturing to Nathaneal and Nino. Luka and Adrien explained they were friends of the family and were asked to join according to the family. Not that the nurse needed to know the little lie.
Entering the names of the other two, the nurse looked at the group, “Ms. Tsurugi and Ms. Dupain-Cheng are located on the fourth floor in room 29B. They’re in a shared room. Go right on up.”
Giving the nurse their thanks, all four men rushed to the elevator and made their way up towards the fourth level.
The moment the elevator doors opened, they ran down the hallway until they came upon room 29B.
When Luka and Adrien entered the room they stood by the entrance and looked shocked at seeing their mate both covered in bandages along with scrapes and bruises.
Moving past the shock, both men ran over to their mate.
Luka whimpered as he stood beside Kagami’s bed and stroked her cheeks, thumbs rubbing over the scratches that took over part of her skin.
“Oh, Kagami,” whispered Luka, leaning his forehead against hers as he tried to calm himself down.
He looked over and took in the bandages that covered arms and a section near the junction of her neck and shoulder area. Taking in the disheveled appearance of his mate, Luka looked across from him and took in the similar state of Marinette. Adrien himself looked over her injuries and fretted over her bandages, scratches, and bruises.
What the hell happened to them to end up in a state like this?
Luka felt rubbing along his hand as he took in Kagami running her thumb along the back of his hand as she gave him an assuring smile. He knew Kagami was strong and could take care of herself. There wasn’t anybody he knew that could make Kagami Tsurugi cower.
Yet, the question laid in front of him that brought on a rage within. Who the hell attacked his mate and Adrien’s? Who would dare lay a hand on an alpha and omega?
The tension within Luka tightened as the protective nature of his omega instincts grew stronger from the sight of his alpha and fellow omega curled an unfathomed hatred towards their attacker or attackers. Luka wasn’t a hurricane by nature, not like an earthquake that Kagami can be as an alpha, but when the winds kick in he could be a storm brewing to release at any given time if it called for it. And right now, the raging storm within him was ready to release its fury on the person who left the wounds on his mate and friends.
He felt the soothing touch of his alpha, Kagami’s burning copper eyes trying to calm the inner beast. He was sure his eyes shifted and canines elongated from his inner turmoil. Judging by the growl across from him a few feet, Luka was sure Adrien was in the same mindset and behavior.
“Who did this,” growled Luka. He was going make sure those responsible would regret the day they harmed loved ones of a Couffaine.
“I’m not sure, Luka,” said Kagami. “I didn’t catch a glimpse of the one that ran from Marinette, but the one that I fought against I’ve never met before. Though I’m sure I ingrained into them what happens when they fight against a Couffaine-Tsurugi.” She gave him a small smirk and wink.
As much as hearing her say her future name, it didn’t ease the surging anger brewing within him.
“Well, fortunately, I know one of them,” came Marinette’s voice.
Luka and Kagami turned to Marinette as the two of them and Adrien looked on with waited breath. They watched Marinette breathe and glanced back at Adrien.
“It was Markus.”
The electricity that surged within Adrien ignited fiercer hearing the name of the man he despised to the core. Having the audacity to attack Marinette again was a mistake too many. The growl that broke out of him echoed throughout the room.
“He’s going to regret it the moment I get my hands on him,” snarled Adrien.
“Unfortunately he escaped near the end of the fight before the medics arrived,” informed Kagami. “However, the other assailant is here somewhere in the hospital.”
That drew both Luka and Adrien’s attention to the young alpha. Unfortunately for Marinette and Kagami, both bound to the beds, and Kagami is beginning to regret she ever mentioned it. Both she and Marinette knew that once Luka and Adrien were angry they had a set goal in mind. And without them there to reel them in, they were both loose without any restraints.
“Luka, don’t,” said Kagami, not even trying to force it as an order. “You have no idea where this man is. There are too many floors to go searching.”
She watched as her mate glanced beside her and Kagami turned to follow her gaze and noticed the bags containing both her’s and Marinette’s clothing.
The silver-blue hues burned brighter in Luka’s eyes as he glared at the bags and grinned, his canines glinting under the ceiling lights.
“Then it’s a good thing I can sniff him out.”
If there was any mistake you would ever not want to get yourself into, it was to fall under the wrong side of Luka and Adrien.
One from wealth and one from chaos, those who fucked up and earned the wrath of an Agreste and Couffaine were in for a rude awakening.

Caught in his web, Chapter 43
Officer Stones sat at his desk, staring at the computer screen. To anyone passing by, it looked like he was typing. But if you looked closer, you’d see that he was just staring into a blank screen, fingers poised over the keyboard.
‘Stones!’ The officer on reception called again, finally getting his attention.
‘S… Sorry. What is it?’ Stones asked, looking up from the computer.
‘There’s someone who wants to speak to you, I’ve sent him into interrogation room three.’
‘Oh, thanks.’ Stones got up from his chair and winced at the pain in his thigh, but he took a deep breath and hobbled his way into the interrogation room. His stomach sank when he saw it was Kenneth. The one man he had been dreading to see.
‘Have you seen Chloe? Are you any closer to getting Loki yet?’ Kenneth asked, desperate.
Stones swallowed and rubbed the back of his head, trying to stop his hands from shaking. ‘No… There is no case on Laufeyson.’
Kenneth frowned. ‘What? What do you mean?’
‘Myself and a few detectives have done extensive investigating on Laufeyson and there is nothing to be found. He’s a model citizen of the city. Your daughter is there of her own free will, she can leave whenever she wants. And… And Laufeyson has put in a report about you harassing her, so I have to ask you to keep your distance from them.’ Stones said, his words like they’d been recited in his head a million times over.
‘But… This is bullshit, you know it is… Wait, he’s gotten to you, hasn’t he?’ Kenneth suddenly realised. ‘He got to you too, what did he do?’ Kenneth’s voice was rising.
Stones put his hands out in defence. ‘Please, Sir. There is absolutely nothing else that can be done.’
Kenneth started at Stones. He could see it in his eyes that it was killing him to be saying those things. That’s when Kenneth knew, Loki had most definitely gotten to him somehow.
He ran his hand down his face. ‘Forget it. I’ll get my daughter back some other way.’ Kenneth kicked a chair over in anger and rushed out the door, pushing past some officers who looked confused.
Stones let out a shaky breath and fell back against the wall, he loosened his tie, feeling a bit restrained. After taking some deep breaths, he got himself composed again before going back to his desk.
-
The Previous Day
Stones had barely stepped outside of his home at five in the morning when he was grabbed and swiftly knocked out over the head with a hit from the handle of a gun.
When Stones came round, he was tied to a chair with his wrists behind it and his ankles tied to the legs. His head lolled forward and to the side, feeling so heavy, until he managed to focus.
He raised his head up and his eyes widened in anger as he tried pulling free from the chair.
‘You fucking bastard! You better let me go. Just wait till I’
‘Oh quiet, your threats are empty at this time. Do you not realise you have the disadvantage right now?’ Loki asked, glaring at him as he leaned back against his desk.
Ethan and Samuel were off to the side, watching and keeping an eye. James was sitting in the corner of the room, waiting patiently.
‘This just proves what you are.’ Stones hissed, glaring at Loki.
Loki chuckled and slipped his hands into his pockets as he started walking towards him, taking large but slow steps.
‘And what is that, Officer?’ He asked, stopping right on front of him, towering over him.
‘A monster!’ Stones spat.
Loki threw his head back, laughing. ‘Ohhh, but I’ve known that for a long time. Why don’t you tell me something I don’t know?’ He started to slowly walk around him, circling him like prey. ‘Like how about you tell me all about your lovely little family. That adorable son you have. He’s what, two?’
Stones’ eyes widened in terror at the mention of his family.
‘And then there’s your older daughter, who just turned fifteen last week. Is that right, Stones?’ Loki grinned, moving on front of him again. He knew by the look on his face that he had him. This was his sore spot.
Stones swallowed hard and stared up at Loki, not knowing what to say anymore.
‘Your wife is certainly a beauty, perhaps a bit too old for my liking though. But I might know of someone who would certainly be interested. Your kids however, well they would not be of much use to anyone. But they’re small, could be disposed of very easily.’
Stones jolted in the chair, his anger rising again. ‘Don’t you dare hurt them!’
Loki chuckled and turned away for a moment, then he suddenly turned back and punched him in the stomach. Stones cried out in utter agony as he leaned over.
Loki then grabbed his hair and forced his head back painfully, his scalp burned.
‘I will hurt whoever I want to hurt. Especially when someone is sticking their nose into my business, scaring my girl and trying to get her to turn on me.’ Loki snarled.
He let go of Stones’ hair and took out his dagger, flipping it up in the air he caught it again and stabbed it straight down into Stones’ thigh. His screaming filled the room, it continued when Loki pulled the dagger out of his flesh.
Stones was gasping and crying in agony as he looked down at his thigh.
Loki grabbed his face roughly, squeezing his cheeks. ‘Stop crying, you pathetic man.’ He snarled. ‘Now listen to me. I am a fair man and I do believe in giving people a second chance. So you listen and you listen closely.’
Stones nodded, the best he could anyway. So Loki let go of him and took a step back. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a napkin to clean his dagger.
‘I will let you return to your perfect little family. They won’t be harmed, and my accountant over here will give you the details of a new bank account, a college fund for both of your kids. You’ll find there is ample amount in there to see them comfortably through as much education as they please. Your wife will receive an anonymous donation for the charity she runs. And you, will leave my Chloe alone. You will not interfere with any of my business again, and you will stop trying to prove that you are of any worth to Kenneth. If you don’t follow my instructions, it won’t just be you that’s here again. I will not hesitate to come after you and your family. Every last one of them. From your auntie and uncle in Australia, to your poor old mother in Ireland. Do I make myself clear?’
Loki finished with his dagger and folded his hands on front of him as he awaited an answer.
Stones was breathing heavy, trying to focus through the pain. But he knew he was beaten. He wasn’t going to risk his family, and Loki seemed to know everything about him. Which was absolutely terrifying.
‘Answer me, Stones.’ Loki snarled and lunged at him, pushing his chest he knocked him flying backwards, but Loki then grabbed his shirt and stopped him from falling just before he hit the ground. He sneered down at him. ‘I won’t ask again.’
‘Ok… ok!’ Stones gasped. ‘I’ll stay away… I will… I promise… Please, don’t hurt my family.’ Stones broke down crying.
Loki grinned and straightened him back up. He put his hands on the arms of the chair and leaned down, so his eyes were level with Stones.
‘That’s a good boy.’ He mocked, patting his cheek hard. ‘Wasn’t so hard now, was it?’
Stones just glared at Loki, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in his thigh. Loki turned to James and nodded, signalling for James to transfer the money over. Loki then looked at Ethan and Samuel. ‘Get him cleaned up and out of my sight.’
‘Sure thing, boss.’ Samuel nodded and the two men moved in to do their work.
Loki went across his office and poured himself a small whiskey. He took a sip and pulled out his phone to message Chloe. But that’s when he realised that she didn’t have one at the moment, as he had to get her a new number. But he decided to just upgrade her phone anyway to the newest iPhone.
So he made a call instead to get one sorted for her.
-
That evening when Loki returned home, he found Chloe in the living room watching a film. She was curled up on the sofa with a blanket wrapped around her and a glass of wine on the table next to her, along with some chocolate.
‘Well, well, well. What do we have here?’ He grinned and glided across the room to join her.
Chloe smiled up at him as he cupped her cheek and leaned down to kiss her forehead. Then after pouring himself a drink from the bar, he sat down next to her. She turned around so she could lean into him, sliding her arm across his middle.
Loki smiled and rested his chin on top of her head as he put his arm around her, holding her closely.
‘What is this drivel you’re watching?’
‘Oi! It’s not drivel. It’s really good, this is the second time I’ve seen it. It’s called A quiet place.’
‘There’s nothing happening.’ Loki grumbled.
‘Just wait. It’s not long started.’ Chloe grinned, snuggling more into him.
‘Hm.’
But then Loki quickly learned why it was so quiet.
‘Poor kid.’ He commented.
‘Yeah. Not a very nice start, is it?’
‘Not at all.’ Loki chuckled.
A little further into the film, Loki reached into his pocket and pulled out an iPhone. ‘Here, doll. Instead of just a new sim card and number, I thought I would get you an upgrade.’
Chloe sat up and took the phone from him. ‘Oh, wow. Thank you! I thought my last phone was an upgrade.’
‘It was.’ Loki smirked. ‘But this is an even better upgrade.’
‘Clearly!’ Chloe giggled.
After getting her new phone, Chloe was more engrossed in checking out the new features than watching the film. Loki watched her in amusement as she downloaded her favourite apps.
‘So, you’re no longer interested in watching the movie?’ Loki asked, sliding his hand up to stroke the back of her neck.
‘Eh. I’ve seen it before.’ She shrugged.
Loki shook his head, chuckling. He thought she would be too occupied to notice as he reached over the back of her, aiming for her chocolates. But just as he grabbed one, Chloe slowly turned her head to glare at him.
‘Excuse me?’ She raised her eyebrow, trying to keep a straight face at the look on his face as both of his eyebrows shot up and he pursed his lips. Freezing his movements.
They stared at each other for a moment, then Loki tried to quickly pull his arm back and eat the chocolate. But as he did so, she tried grabbing his arm to stop him, making him laugh. They ended up wrestling to try and get the chocolate, but Loki won. He managed to toss it into his mouth.
‘Nooooo! That’s my chocolate!’ Chloe laughed and then dove for the rest.
Loki grabbed her middle and tried tickling her, momentarily stopping her from reaching her goal. He then leaned right over the back of her and swooped the last of it up.
‘Arghhhh!’ Chloe groaned and tried getting up again.
She scrambled onto his lap as he held the chocolate high up. She reached up and attempted pulling his arms down to her level, but he had such impossibly long arms it wasn’t fair.
Chloe then suddenly had an idea. She quickly flipped her top right up over her breasts and leaned forward, shoving them right into Loki’s face. He was so surprised by her actions that he dropped the chocolate.
‘YES!’ She cheered, grabbing it and clambering off his lap.
But he circled his arm around her middle and hauled her back down on the sofa next to him.
‘Nooooo. Let me have the chocolate and I’ll give you a blowjob?’ She suggested quickly.
Loki froze, contemplating the offer. ‘Hmmm… Why should I compromise when I know I could have both?’ He winked at her and quickly wrapped his lips around a piece of the chocolate, plucking it right from her fingers.
But he allowed her to have the last few bits.
‘You’re such an ass.’ She humphed, settling down next to him again.
He laughed and slid his hand under her top, lightly tickling across her abdomen. ‘You know, I sorted our little problem of that Officer Stones today.’ He hummed.
‘Oh? What did you do?’
Loki chuckled and hooked her chin as he kissed her. ‘Don’t worry about that, doll. All you need to know, is that he won’t be bothering us again. I promise.’
‘Ok.’ Chloe nodded.
She thought she was probably better off not knowing anyway.
