Head canon that the sun is brighter in Auradon than it is in Wonderland and Red is already light sensitive so everyone thinks that Red is just generally pis*ed with everyone cause she’s always squinting so she looks angry (This Makes Chloe anxious cause she thinks Red is upset with her). Then there’s this incident where the sun gets so bright and Red starts tearing up cause her eyes hurt and Chloe thinks Red is crying and she panics and tries to comfort Red but then Red finally explains to her that the sun just hurts so much like “oh my rabbits, Chloe why does the sun shine here almost as bright as you” and Chloe of course is like seriously flustered and flattered by the sweetest thing that’s ever come out of Red. However Chloe is not just going to let her girlfriend suffer so that incident Red is gifted these weird shaped color tinted glasses by Chloe and Red doesn’t understand until she puts them on and then immediately hugs Chloe because the sun is “no longer attacking her”.

She never goes outside without them as she becomes seriously attached to anything Chloe gives her but overtime gains a mass collection of them because Chloe can’t help but buying Red a pair every time she sees one that she thinks Red will like. Chloe thinks this will make Red have more variability.

It does not. Red makes sure to wear all of them but clearly the first one is her favorite because it’s one of the first few gifts Chloe gave her. Red also always takes multiple of them with her whenever she leaves their dorm, because she wants to make sure Chloe knows she cherishes everything Chloe gives.

It doesn’t take a while for it to click to Chloe that Red didn’t get many gifts or really any at all during her childhood. But once Chloe figures it out she makes it her life goal to gift something to Red often to make sure her girlfriend can have nice stuff.

I don’t think this fandom discusses this well enough, the Queen of Hearts wasn’t above cutting people’s heads off, nor calling her daughter “such a disappointment” along with asking Red to “make me [The Queen of Hearts] proud for once” or the infamous “Get it right or I’ll show you punishment!”.

This is a tyrannical monarch who murders people for things out of their control or minor mistakes and doesn’t hesitate to speak down to her child by degrading her [Red], does anyone seriously think The Queen of Hearts is above child ab*se? She’s violent and unforgiving and doesn’t shelter her child from any of her violent tendencies, do we really think Red was spared from her violence? No. It is of course clear that The Queen of Hearts isn’t mad enough she’ll attempt to kill her only heir to the throne, but she clearly had plans for morphing Red into something like her, meaning she likely would do all she thought it’d take to change Red. Not only that, in the short amount of times we’ve seen her, we’ve seen her infamous temper. What do you think happens when a controlling, violent, power hungry, above the law, hot tempered, and ill matured adult does when her child refuses to become or do what she wants?

This is definitely something that has to carry into the 5th movie. Red’s likely lived through unimaginable ab*se, and unless some odd time travel shenanigans get to her memory, she’s always going to remember that. And the only person who can she can talk to about it and be believed is Chloe. Red already clearly has issues in the first movie already, she doesn’t like physical touch or at least she says that she’s “not a hugger”, she agrees with Chloe when Chloe informs Red that she has “intimacy issues”, and then there’s her defense mechanism of acting cold and harsh and mean or whatever it takes to get other people to leave her alone that we see her use on Chloe at the very least twice in which Chloe and Ella deliberately discuss in love ain’t it, “what’s her problem what’s her deal? . . . Some people act mean at first because they’re too afraid to feel, it’s survival it’s protection, it’s why roses grow their thorns”. There’s clearly an established issues here with Red and trauma responses and it is for sure to some kind of degree going to be addressed in the 5th movie. Definitely not to a strong degree because of it being disney and a kids movie but we can likely expect some GlassHeart discussions about it because Red clearly was ab*sed and it definitely has some lasting effects on her that Chloe will likely have to help her though.

The point I hold here is, that if this wasn’t a children’s disney movie but rather one that could hit at least the PG-13 mark or higher, it would be VERY likely that Red would canonically be some kind of child ab*se tragedy. Even with the book and movie currently there’s still so much room for speculation about her childhood but I think no matter how any of us think it went down for Red, I think we can all agree on this: Her [Red’s] childhood was certainly not good, and it’s going to impact Red for a very long time, a perfect mom version of Bridget will not fix that, it might actually make it worse at times with Red having to face, lie and try to be close to someone who shares the same face as her former ab*ser. Chloe also really just needs to pull a Princesses Charming right now and save her girlfriend because our poor girl is suffering.

I have never wanted to give a fictional character a therapy session so badly before.

like imagine all the hangouts and sleepovers they have, crying and whining when they have to be separated because red, dear, we really must return home or chloe, love, we've been in wonderland for a week already

imagine little chloe bursting into her parents' bedroom declaring that she'll always be red's knight in shining armour, because every princess, especially a crown princess, needs a knight to protect her and ella and christopher just KNOWING that chloe is gonna stay by red's side forever and ever

so they start planning the wedding with bridget, thrilled to have the opportunity to bring their families even closer together. they're gonna be in laws! a family, just like they've always dreamed.

imagine little red telling her mum that chloe has a really pretty smile and really pretty eyes, and it makes her happy to see chloe happy, and that chloe is the bestest friend in the whole wide world and bridget has to stop herself from squealing and pinching red's adorably flushed cheeks, because her daughter was so in love already, even if it was just puppy love. that doesn't stop her from screaming gleefully into her pillow later that night tho

imagine them growing up together, attached at the hip, never straying from the other's side. imagine them going to auradon together, everyone already knowing that red and chloe, chloe and red, are a package deal. you can't get one without the other, a known fact since the duo were old enough to travel through the rabbit hole on their own

Headcanon that Red made that shirt herself because a lot of people at school were flirting with Chloe (And Chloe wouldn’t let her fight them) so Red had enough because Chloe is her girlfriend thankyouverymuch. Chloe finds it cute but dislikes when Red wears it in public because it makes her flustered so every time Chloe doesn’t give her enough attention Red rebels and wears it outside so Chloe is flustered enough she has to put everything down and give Red attention.
