1 + 2 are miniatures of two of the six Lady and the Unicorn (La Dame à la licorne) tapestries, created circa 1500.

3 - Jane's folding screen - is made up of the four central panels from this six-panel screen depicting the arrival of a Portugese ship in Nagasaki Harbour, created circa 1600-1625

4* + 5 are miniature chinoiserie-style french tapestries. unfortunately the images seem to be sourced from my nemesis the Pictures Now collection, so tracking down more specific details about them has proved difficult, but what i have found suggests the designs are from the mid-1600s

6 - as far as I can tell, all of Jane's opera posters were created by HeR. if they are recreations of real posters I haven't been able to find the originals. but they definitely used the female figure from this 19th c. Japanese print to make the Madama Butterfly poster! bridgeman calls the print 'Courtesan Turning Head' and credits it to Kitugawa Eizan, but I haven't been able to confirm this because the Rennes Musee des Beaux-Arts collections website doesn't seem to work.

*HeR also used #4 in Message in a Haunted Mansion - it's one of the tapestries decorating the main staircase

Room design post! Just putting this here because I’m not great at interior design but I’m really trying. Would love feedback :)!

I have a funny (weird. bad) relationship with my house. Lots of reasons for this, no reason to get into it. Just believe me when I say certain vibes require cleansing and I’m not really a sage-burning guy. Mostly because I think it smells, well, ass. Sorry.

So. I’m diving into a redesign and shooting for a romantic maximalism situation that relies heavily on chinoiserie/chinoiserie adjacent patterns. My room is currently very non-designed. White walls. A few furniture pieces I like. Very little else. I want to transform it into something that feels totally new to me. A reset button, sort of. I’m not rich and I love craigslist so I’m hoping to build my room up second-hand.

Here’s what I’m thinking. My inspiration- only I will incorporate more modern things, and I don’t have 13 foot ceilings.

The plan:

1. Color matching the rug I got with the walls- I won’t wallpaper, I’ll use paint. The rug is tealish, like the one above! It was 9x13 and only $60!

2. A red vinyl bedframe I also found on Craigslist! $150. A bit rich for my blood, but I want to be bold. I want to commit. Half-assing it will guarantee the mark will be missed. (Pic is not my house).

3. One of these duvets and sheets. I don’t buy fancy bedding so figuring this out is gonna be a whole thing.

4. Then, I have this cool vintage bubble lamp. It’s yellow glass. That’ll go somewhere. I’ll post a pic of that later.

Then, there are these lamps. I think they’re so fun! But would they be practical, with like, dust? And cats?? Probably not. But I love pink and want to incorporate a little bit of it somewhere, somehow.

5. I need some dark things. Some negative space. No idea what. Not including a picture. Maybe some dark pillow cases? Maybe dark furniture? I have dark wood things, like a bookcase and a waterfall dresser. But is that dramatic enough?

6. I have some gold curtains in a different room. I’ll probably swap those out.

7. A lady is selling these. Four of them! So maybe I’ll get them, too.

8. I still need a few modern touches. Like, acrylic shelving or a chair, maybe, and some art prints that are fully modern. And few pure, solid colored bits and bobs. I was thinking a porcelain bust, maybe?

I don’t know if it’s true but it’s even disrespectful for 🌹 to talk in that way about her (or who knows, maybe she doesn’t care) also, I don’t know the aristos’ rules and how it works in the modern era, but are they happy that the husbands are publicly named as unfaithful men wanting to f*ck a married woman?. Unless they are hinting something or maybe the press knows how angry W becomes with this suggestion and it’s their way to attack him now that he has became a massive control freak with his engagements and his wife’s engagements (no press and very little information in advance) because to be honest the headline and some lines are very suggestive, specially because that rumours.

My first thought when I saw this article was that the news must be slow in royal world. Nothing much to report on if you're having to write up a who's who explainer about the aristos.

That's actually still my opinion. Charlotte Griffiths didn't have anything to write about, so she wrote about the aristos, rich people most people don't care about.

I think the key word was "stiffy;" although, Charlotte G. conveniently paired it with invitations. That's a word that a lot of boys/men have used to refer to their important member down south when he's at full attention.

Yeah, a lot of men "fancy" sleeping with a lesbian. Often because they "fancy" about turning her straight because they think their dicks are that good.

They can't come out and say that David & Rose are in a lavender marriage, so she snuck in a couple phrases that hint at it, e.g. "a source of endless fascination in high society." A married lesbian with three kids 'cause if you want to have kids you have to get the sperm from somewhere!

David Rocksavage, by the way, is better known as Lord Cholmondeley, having inherited that title—along with Houghton Hall, perhaps the grandest of England’s great country houses—in 1990. Cholmondeley and Banier have been close since the early 1980s. Banier told me that Cholmondeley and his wife had had twin boys last year. “I am their godfather,” he said.

It's been long rumored that David's either current or former long-term boyfriend is/was François-Marie Banier, a French artist, who is the godfather of their two sons.
