What I miss About Face-to-Face Classes

The pictures above were from my previous school which is at Xavier University. I still don’t have pictures of me in USTP since I didn’t get to attend face-to-face classes since the pandemic started.

  What I miss about face-to-face classes is first and foremost, my allowance. Kidding aside, I miss my classmates who are with me through ups and downs every semester. I miss going out with them. We used to eat at fast food after class when we have free time. I miss our favorite hangout place which is Chingkee Tea, our favorite drink is their boba milk tea. I miss the sleepless nights because of our never-ending assignments and other paperwork. In face-to-face classes, you have to double time and multi-task always. When we are busy, we usually have our lunch for 15 minutes only and after that, we go back directly to our paperwork. I miss bringing very heavy books. I miss going to the library and falling asleep. In face-to-face, you will experience the real life of a student because you will always procrastinate like me, I procrastinate every day because I have a lot of homework to do especially in my course because I am an accountancy student before and I have 5 majors in the first year, first sem. But I didn’t complain about that because I like my course and I’m enjoying it.

In face-to-face classes, you will encounter different subject teachers with different personalities. Some teachers are terror and strict and some are approachable and understand their students. Even though they are strict with us, I still miss them. I miss wearing my uniform and doing physical activities at the gym. I miss going to the cafeteria to eat tempura, kwek-kwek, and pancit canton. I miss running to the hallway because I’m late. There are a lot of things I miss in face-to-face classes but I can’t name them all. But overall, I miss going to school. I wish this pandemic will end soon so that we will be able to have face-to-face classes.

Defining Spaces

Chingkeetea has been the pioneer in introducing Taiwanese milk tea in the city. It has long been the go-to-shop of the milk tea fad, which it started out at a “small but quirky milk tea shop inside Marfori Compound.” Aside from the perfectly prepared, authentic Taiwanese milk teas, befitting for each and everyone’s mood and penchant, this teahouse is known for its well-refined and intricately thought out interiors, adding to the one of a kind tea time experience. I mean who isn’t basked in with accurately furnished designs while sipping a cup of tea, right?

Interiors, alone, compel myself to visit a café, restaurant, museum, or open house. Honestly, these little things make my heart grow fonder. There’s always a certain degree of treat when I visit such places, a notion that great minds are behind each showcase as their personalities and inclinations become reflective of each space they create.

Chingkeetea, with its roster of branches, each with different styles and themes, never fails to reprise its hallmark of being one of the daintiest and outstanding homegrown hangout spots in the city. It never fall flat through its continuous innovations and ideas. It has been the talk of the town, once again, when it opened the doors of its newest branch at Velez cor. Gaerlan St. As usual, it has redefined spaces according to creativity and sophistication. The interiors have presented a touch of retrospective Korean motifs, more quaint and clean, and less clutter. A visit to their Gazebo branch is one for the books since each corner of the place brings forward different visuals, worthy to be appreciated, both in photos and in the here and now. It doesn’t put each space into a context of simple bluntness or for the sake of being a practical estate. It has redefined space to efficiency and, most remarkably, to a work of art, where everything becomes an experience. Most of the fixtures are antique pieces while the flowers embellished where previously used from the owners’ wedding adornments.

Alongside antiquated and pre-loved memorabilia, the staples, namely milk teas, fruit teas, and specials are must-tries . My personal favorite is the black sugar. The shop prides itself to serve authentic Taiwanese milk tea as the owner, Chingkee Motoomull, trained in Taiwan and most of the ingredients are straight out of Taiwan. Of course, sipping some teas is best paired off with some friends, giving a little spark to each day.

A well-defined space is a conception of a great mind. Beautiful spaces gives a sense of living when blues and grays tend to color one’s days. It sets our moods; it brightens the day. Most of all, when small things such as space become something that count and, we create experiences. And, these experiences are what make life is, the regard of truly living in every single moment. Thus, I’m always thankful for new spots, with the likes of the new Chingkeetea, that give me some sanity, a sense of inspiration to keep on honing my craft and endeavors.

With the numerous tea shops in the city, it’s kind of hard to choose which and where to go, yet, there is this specific tea shop that has since been popular not only because of its Wintermelon Milk Tea, but because of its unique interior design. Opened in 2012, Chingkeetea became a buzz in social media when first-time customers posted pictures of the shop formerly located inside Marfori Compound. With the tea shop filled with artsy crafts, walls covered with painted scraps, unique ceramic collections, chic teacups and random stuffs, Chingkeetea is unlike any other tea shops in the city. 

Years have passed, Chingkeetea remained a favorite hangout place among students and milk tea enthusiasts, even tourists as well.From Marfori Compound, the main branch has been moved to its new location, at Arch Hayes corner Pabayo Streets. With a larger area, Chingkeetea can now accommodate more than 50 individuals. Their shop has a ground area, and a second floor where the counter can be found. It might be a new location yet it brought with it the rustic and chic vibe it was known for.Chingkeetea currently have another branch within the city which is located at the first floor of Grand Central along Hayes Street. Along with their expansion, their menu also expanded with new additions on their menu. Cookies, cupcakes and Ramen are being offered in their Grand Central branch while in their main branch, customers can enjoy their milk teas with burgers, pizza, rice meals and among others

Sometimes, we look for a place where we could be alone to be creative and somewhat productive with our own stuff, or with friends just to hang out and spend some worthy chat times. Most of these times, we prefer to have them over coffee or tea. More if you are a coffee or tea drinker type of person.

A day to remember, because we met again all my classmates and also we get our ID's in school. After that we go somewhere, finding tambayan then we went to chingkee and vibin' together. They made my day, I'm so very happy to see them all again coz we haven't seen each other in a long time. And I always pray their happiness and safety. Goodnight!!!!

Creativity and Passion in a Cup

A bowerbird is an avian specie that is noted for building elaborate structures for courtship. These elaborate structures are built by male bowerbirds in an attempt to establish romantic affinity among female bowerbirds. They are native to Australia and the New Guinea. These somewhat adroit and artisanal acts of a male bowerbird can certainly inspire many artists, content creators, or just anyone who likes to put pieces together into becoming an embellished upshot of woven imaginations and ideas. And, this act of craftsmanship has set the inspiration behind Bowerbird Coffee.

This café at the emerging uptown Cagayan de Oro is the brainchild of the CDO-based barista and photographer Che Roa. This cozy, humble nook is a throng of trinkets such as visuals made by local artists, wooden furnishings, quaint coffee sets, among others. Ornaments which round out each other in creating an entirety manifest how this cafe reprises a bowerbird putting every piece together to attract a mate, while in this instance, the café goers. Indeed, it is an awe-inspiring, unpretentious space of collectives where you can just grab and enjoy a cup of coffee while being stirred with the straightforward amenities.

If the amusements brought by the likes of Chingkee Tea is for milk tea lovers, Bowerbird Coffee is for those caffeine enthusiasts.

Bowerbird Coffee accentuates its goal on the Third Wave Coffee movement. This pertains to the high regard and appreciation to coffee and all that it entails, focusing on the subtleties of flavor, provenance, and the process. In other words, it is viewing coffee as an artisanal comestible, rather than a mere commodity. 

Among the coffees one can find in this café are espresso, Americano, café latte,  café mocha, café tablea, Spanish latte, hazelnut latte, and 100% Arabica. They also serve pastries and cakes from concessionaires.

Be inspired with creativity and passion in a cup and experience the collection of trinkets brought by hints of quaintness and third wave coffee at Bowerbird Coffee. I woke up almost 11 na gyd today doeee i had a long sleep cos dali raman ko katulog gabii doeee hehe 2 asleep na ata ko but my head was not feeling when i woke up doeee idk why aishhh das why i was not in da mood to work 🤦🏻‍♀️ and mag acads unta ko pagka 11 uie cos naa ko humanon isa ka activity sa philo then mag remo dayon but my mind and body not in the right mood ehhehe so i just rested doeee and then had lunchhh mom cooked yummy crispy lechon kawala cos i requested man heheh then i stayed in my old room and just scroll2 sa tiktok doeee!! wala ko watch kdrama cos ion know what to watch 🤦🏻‍♀️ i didnt tiwas na gyd what i watched gabii cos bleh pangit sila man heheh nag nap dayon ko pagka 3 doe and i think naka sleep ko mga 30-40 mins doeee tas when i woke up so sleepy pko but cannot sleep na hehe so i took a bath na doeee para ma refresh ko heheh then ordered chingkee!!! hehhe dis my snack langgg todayyy

pagka 6 i bahog na the dogs doeee and i proceeded to remo naaa hehe 30 tasks lang ako goal and mga 1 hour na doee or like 1 hour and 15 mins nga work hehhe i will work bahala kapoy cos need money bahala ginagmay lang heheh anddd while taking a break from work my emotions got triggered doeee 👁👄👁 aishhh i saw lang something then my fault man pd uy tas i tried so hard gyd not to cry doeee but ka cry ko uyyyy :((( i felt very sad doeee and i went to bed and cried cos aishhh dis healing process is taking so long doeee and its really up and down but when there are times na like ma sampal ko sa reality aish maka cry gyd ko doeee hagshashgsha 😭 i just want to be happy lang gyd doeee and ion wanna be sad whenever maka see ko ug things or maka remember ko ug things lyk dat btaaaw i want to be happy lang uiiieee but then again its my fault man pd also cos im letting my mind wander hahah ako nalang try butterfly method doe like i close nimo imo eyes and cross arms tas i tap nimo imo shoulders but naka cry ko samot uyyyy wala buooot ahahah i just wish the world will reward me with happiness soon doeee 🥺 bahala dili happiness sa lovelife but just life or career lang doeee but i hope lovelife also!!!! wanna be happy and inspired na i want to feel loved again doeee now i feel like an idiot hahah and u know i like gyd having someone to talk to always and i like lambinging someone and also being lambing but now i dont have someone to do dat wid doeee its so mingaw hahah so excited to graduate gyd doeee wanna leave cdo i hope maka leave gyd ko uy bahala to a different city lang 😩🤞🏼

but nevertheless, to make myself better, i will think nalang of what i have achieved this week doeee ion want nga tungod lang naka cry napd ko becos of dat i will be sad na cos this week, i was productive sa remo doeee and sa acads and yesterday and today i had less than 1000 calories!!! heheh those are achievements na uie and aishhhh dapat not na nako down ako self tungod kay nag emote ko HMPF NO NA AYA!!! but aish bleh its okay to cry doe im still affected by things paman gyd :((( and i hope i will feel better later pag sleep doe dont wanna cry again 😭

the rest of the night i watched kdrama doeee hehe and alsooo after i cried diay kay nibalik ko remo and naka do ko 40 which is higher than my goal hehe aishhh negativity and sadness go away pleaseeee i hate feeling sad and crying doeee 😭😭😭 bsag unsa nalang ako ma think and i think lowly of myself gyd basta mag maoy2 na dayon ko ☹️☹️☹️ anywaaay im so proud of u doeee cos daghan na kaayo ka money sauna dream2 paka maka get inana nga money now its a reality naaa heheh continue to work hard okaaay cos many pa kyka maabot doeee and i will always be proud of u gyddd sa tanan nimo ma achieve heheh ibog ko huuuh but das fine puhon2 bawi rakog save pag naa najd big incomeee hhehhe cos now nag huna2 ko ganina if work ko 10 hrs a week das like 450 doeee and in a month maka get ko 1800!!! so cute rytttt 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
