Erin Reed at Erin In The Morning:
On May 31, NHS England sent a letter to every patient on the waiting list for puberty blockers, stating that possession of such blockers will be considered a crime. The letter follows an edict issued by Conservative Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Victoria Mary Atkins and also mandates that transgender youth who obtained their puberty blockers through private doctors must discontinue their medication. This letter and edict mean that the United Kingdom now has some of the harshest policies targeting transgender youth of any liberal democracy in the world. On May 29th, Atkins announced on twitter, “Today I have taken bold action to protect children following the Cass Review, using emergency powers to ban puberty blockers for new treatments of gender dysphoria from private clinics and for all purposes from overseas prescribers into Great Britain.” Following the announcement, she linked to an edict declaring an “emergency prohibition” on puberty blockers in England, Wales, and Scotland.
The prohibition relies on a decades-old law that allows for the emergency prohibition of medications without the need for a full legislative process; no vote was taken on the edict, and the order was issued just before parliament dissolved for the general election, meaning it could not be overturned. According to UK-based advocate Trans Safety Now, the last and only time such powers were used was in response to deaths among users of an herb found in some Chinese medicine in 1999. Jo Maugham, who leads the Good Law Project, stated about the use of these powers, “It is breathtaking that thousands or tens of thousands of loving families are going to be criminalized by a law made by a Minister, never approved by Parliament, subject to no consultation and the media is not reporting it." On Friday, following the announcement, Lee Hurley of Trans Writes released a copy of a letter sent to families on the NHS waiting list for puberty blockers. The letter indicates that those receiving puberty blockers from the NHS can continue taking them. However, given the enormous wait lists, a substantial number of families opted to get their puberty blockers through private practitioners registered in the European Economic Area or Switzerland—a fully legal practice in the United Kingdom. For those receiving their care through those systems, the letter states, “You will need to stop taking GnRH analogues unless you are newly prescribed them by a UK-registered doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. These medications can be safely stopped and you do not need to be weaned off.”
Critically, the edict does not only target providers; it also targets patients and their families. The letter states, “It will also be a criminal offence to possess these medicines, where the individual had reasonable cause to know that the medicine had been sold or supplied in breach of the ban.” When asked about this provision, Jo Maugham stated, “It basically says puberty blockers are being treated like other illegal drugs like cocaine and heroin.” He then followed up with the applicable law, which indicates that those who violate the ban could be imprisoned for two years. The decision comes following the publication of the Cass Review, a highly politicized document developed with a secretive list of advisors, some of whom were later found to be meeting regularly with political operatives of Republican Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida.
The UK's hateful anti-trans crusade against gender-affirming care for trans youths continue, as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Victoria Mary Atkins (Con) issues a reckless edict ordering trans youth who obtained their puberty blockers through private doctors that they must stop using them.

Excerpts:
"After decades of turmoil, in 1181 Jayavarman VII restored order to the Angkor Empire by embracing Buddhism and introducing an unprecedented public healthcare programme."
He suffered the illnesses of his subjects more than his own; because it is the pain of the public that is the pain of kings rather than their own pain.
So reads a 12th-century stele, marking the foundation of a hospital temple near the banks of the Mekong River. The same words were inscribed at multiple hospital temples across the vast Angkorian Empire, which, at its height in the 11th and 12th centuries, covered most of South-east Asia from its centre at Angkor, in present-day Cambodia. The inscription refers to Jayavarman VII, the first Buddhist king of Angkor."
---
"Along with this central ‘hospital’ temple, inscriptions state that Jayavarman VII founded an additional 102 hospitals. These were probably open to all, although how such care was paid for is unknown. People may have had to make a donation, but it is possible that healthcare was offered without charge. Each hospital would have contained a shrine to Bhaisajyaguru, the Buddha of medicine and healing. Before entering Buddhahood, Bhaisajyaguru made a vow to help the physical and mental health of all living beings. The hospital edicts state that just hearing the name Bhaisajyaguru was enough to cure all ills."
In addition to ritual and spiritual healthcare, these hospitals also offered healing in a manner more akin to ‘modern’ medicine. The inscriptions give an inventory of staff and supplies. Each hospital was home to achar – priests – and a large team of medical workers, including two doctors, two apothecaries, eight nurses and six assistants. There were also guards, cooks, rice-makers and servants. The medical team offered diagnostic testing, most likely by reading the pulse." ...
"The hospitals also prescribed medicines, including honey, butter, oil and molasses. It is highly probable that medical alchemy formed a large part of the healthcare service at Angkor. An inscription at Ta Prohm temple lists royal donations of metals and apparatus that would have been used for alchemy, including mercury sulfide and a gold cauldron." ...
"Evidence of these medical practices are found in the diary of Zhou Daguan, a Chinese envoy who visited Angkor in the 13th century. In his vivid account of daily life at Angkor, he wrote that mercury and sulphur were imported from China. He also recorded that people cured disease by ‘plunging into water and repeatedly washing the head’, the kind of curative treatment perhaps offered at Neak Pean." ...
A more recent article:
---
The world's first public health-care system was created in what is now Cambodia over 800 years ago. The USA still doesn't have one, and the UK's is being destroyed by its government. Many other countries lack any kind of reliable healthcare.
And the effectiveness of the Khmer healthcare isn't the point. They did the best they could with the knowledge they had at the time.

okay but this is actually a perfect visual representation of why as a veterinarian I simply Do Not Understand fatphobia
let me elaborate
[Professional Infodumping Mode: On]
If I ask a layman if they've ever seen a fat Greyhound (including the owner of such fat Greyhound), without fail, everyone will say 'no'. That is an incorrect answer. I work in the UK and a Fat Greyhound is Not Uncommon. However. A Fat Greyhound STILL looks like an Mildly-Underweight Labrador. (Especially when people think an Overweight Labrador is an Ideal-Weight Labrador but I digress.)
As veterinary professionals we of course have scales, just like human doctors do, to assess obesity or emaciation, and it's called a Body Condition Score for dogs, and it looks like this:
Tumblr media
(This one's a bit over the top but it goes to illustrate my point.)
Now, this is what an ideal-weight Greyhound looks like:
Tumblr media
If you were to assess this dog using the standard BCS*, you'd give it a 1, maybe 2 if you're generous. Similarly, a Fat Greyhound will score the maximum of 4/9. So I, a vet, have to know that, despite being taught that BCS is the scale-of-choice for assessing weight in dogs, it is NOT applicable to sighthounds in general, and needs a lot of adjustment in regards to many other breeds. For example, an English Bulldog's ideal weight is something like a 6-7 on the BCS scale, and, say, a Chinese Crested is supposed to be about a 3.
[* I will add that Royal Canin made adjusted BCS scales for small, medium, large, and giant breeds separately and they're fantastic but still don't apply to what I affectionately call 'extreme-bodied' breeds.]
The reason why people look at a fat Greyhound and refuse to see that it is fat--and stay with me here--is because of fatphobia. The same people who think BCS is a standard that can apply to every dog breed are the same people who think BMI (or other weight-assessment 'standards' from human medicine) can apply to every human being. In fact, just like there aren't any standardised BCS scores for Greyhounds*, there aren't any standardised BCS scores for people with a petite body type or people with a large body type. (* Greyhound Racing Victoria made one but it's, mmmmhhhh, kinda arbitrary (note lack of references) and still has a 'racing is different' disclaimer so.)
I am a metabolically healthy petite person, but via BMI I have been severely underweight my entire life. I have had multiple doctors scare my mum that I had an eating disorder, tell me to eat more, warn me of all the potential health issues I am "creating for myself" despite my bloodwork being normal and showing no signs of malnutrition or metabolic/endocrine disease. Have I tried to gain weight? Sure! Has it worked? Absolutely not. My body wants to be the shape it wants to be and I am in no position to change it by force.
People have body types just like dog breeds have breed types. You can't apply the same scale to every one of them. I would be a poor vet if I tried, and it is a poor doctor who does it to their human patients.
As a medical person, I have to know that there ARE underweight Greyhounds and I need to be able to recognise that. I also need to be able to recognise that there ARE obese Bulldogs or Mastiffs or Bernese Mountain Dogs. But for the love of what little is holy, you can't look at a BMD from 10 feet away and go 'yeah he's fat'. Half of that is fluff! The other half is muscle! You have to get in there and feel for fat pouches and check his weight and guesstimate what he should be by size, because there are BMDs whose ideal weight is 30kg and then others need to be around 50kg! Sometimes people will bring you a petite Bernese Mountain Dog and you can't just tell them he's underweight and that he needs to put on 20 kilos or else!!
Anyway, ahem. Point being, there's medically-significant obesity, and then there's large body type. And 'fat' is an umbrella term that overarches both of those terms and more, and it's something that fat people are more than welcome to do because it is a cultural, social thing or need and no one can take that away, but in a scientific/medical setting it adds to the hundreds of years of accrued fatphobic bias that leads to doctors going 'fat = obese = bad'. Medicine is supposed to be an evidence-based practice, but when there's also ample bias in the evidence itself... it requires knowledge and time and critical thinking that a lot of family-medicine / general-practice doctors just do not have to overcome that, and also mental effort that a lot of people just don't want to exert.
But for me it is easy, because I have this graphic. Humans have body types just like dogs have breeds, and not every Greyhound/petite person is underweight, and not every Bulldog/large stocky person is obese, and for fuck's sake sometimes a 60kg Bernese Mountain Dog is just big and fluffy. And sometimes a standardised BCS only applies to the very narrow range of medium/large short-haired round-chested mesocephalic body types and medical people need to stop forgetting that.

MBBS in Asia: Unlocking Affordable and World-Class Medical Education
Asia has become a prime destination for students worldwide looking to pursue MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). With its combination of affordable tuition fees, globally recognized degrees, and modern medical facilities, countries like India, China, Kazakhstan, Nepal, and the Philippines are attracting aspiring doctors from all corners of the globe.
Why Choose MBBS in Asia?
1. Affordable Tuition and Living Costs
One of the key attractions of pursuing MBBS in Asia is its affordability. The cost of medical education in many Asian countries is significantly lower than in Western countries. For example, the MBBS fees in Kazakhstan or the Philippines can be a fraction of what students would pay in countries like the USA, UK, or Australia. Additionally, the cost of living in these regions is also much lower, making it easier for students to manage their expenses without compromising on the quality of education.
Tumblr media
2. Globally Recognized Medical Universities
Asian universities are known for their high academic standards and modern medical facilities. Many of these universities are recognized by international accrediting bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Medical Commission (NMC), and other global organizations. Graduating from an internationally recognized medical school ensures that students can practice in countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia, provided they pass the necessary licensing exams.
For example, Chinese medical universities like Peking Union Medical College and Indian institutions such as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are renowned for producing skilled medical professionals with a global reputation. MBBS in Nepal is also growing in popularity for its English-medium programs and modern teaching methods.
3. English-Medium Programs
A significant advantage of studying MBBS in Asia is that many universities offer medical programs in English, especially in countries like the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Nepal, and China. This is particularly beneficial for international students who are not proficient in the local languages but want to study medicine without language barriers.
4. Simple Admission Process
Unlike some Western countries where the admission process for medical schools can be highly competitive and complicated, many Asian countries offer a relatively simpler pathway to medical education. For example, students looking to pursue MBBS in Asia can often gain direct admission based on their high school grades, without having to sit for difficult entrance exams. Countries like Nepal, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines offer smooth and hassle-free admission processes, making them ideal for international students.
5. Advanced Clinical Exposure
Students studying MBBS in Asia benefit from a rich clinical experience. Universities in countries like India and China often have tie-ups with well-established hospitals where students can gain hands-on experience during their clinical rotations. This exposure helps them understand the nuances of treating patients from different backgrounds and provides them with a well-rounded medical education.
Moreover, students get the chance to intern in both urban and rural healthcare settings, allowing them to understand different healthcare systems and challenges. This kind of diversity in clinical training is often unparalleled.
Countries to Consider for MBBS in Asia
China: China has a vast number of medical universities with state-of-the-art facilities and affordable fees. Schools like China Medical University and Zhejiang University are highly ranked globally.
India: Home to top institutions like AIIMS and Christian Medical College (CMC), India offers both affordable education and a wealth of clinical exposure.
Kazakhstan: Medical universities like Al-Farabi Kazakh National University provide affordable MBBS courses in English with international accreditation.
Philippines: The Philippines is an attractive destination for students from countries like India, offering an MBBS equivalent (MD) with education similar to the US system.
Nepal: Known for its English-taught programs, MBBS in Nepal offers affordable tuition and simple admission processes, making it a growing hub for international students.
Cultural and Social Exposure
Studying MBBS in Asia is more than just an educational journey; it's a cultural experience. Asia is home to diverse cultures, languages, and traditions. Students are exposed to vibrant societies, which enrich their personal growth while pursuing their medical education. Immersing in the rich culture of countries like India or Nepal helps students broaden their worldview and develop a better understanding of global healthcare needs.
Conclusion
MBBS in Asia is an excellent choice for students looking for affordable, high-quality medical education with global recognition. Whether it's the advanced medical training facilities in China, the budget-friendly courses in Kazakhstan, or the culturally enriching environment in Nepal, Asia offers a diverse range of opportunities for aspiring doctors. With its globally recognized degrees, English-medium programs, and broad clinical exposure, Asia is a top destination for medical education.

I first arrive the London airport with several British uncles, they're all the Queen's friends, they came to CQ for saving me to UK. They really not ruin this chance,we finally safely arrive London airport,my bright life begins. They're my best friends all the way,we have no time to travel, directly get home, then quickly opened our cases ,put everything in the right places. And I've got my room,it's a new big family,I always have the opportunity to talk with them, they all welcome me. My English is so brief and useful, all words I've learned can use to different occasions. It's because they've treated me as one of them, and my three bats they help me quietly behind. I never feel dizzy or lost awareness all the way to UK,this time I'm full of safety sense. I took a bath and have supper with them, never be so happy before.I appreciate! From then on,my bats can just help me behind, when they talk to me,nobody knows. I have a warm modern room,it's so beautiful, full of sunlight each day.I'd like to stay inside, but going out also not bad,at least I'm not only one,I can always hang out with my families, they're really the best people I know,we love our family. Then I'd like to each day help them to do the things I can, their tips are so useful for me,I can benefit a lot through their family education. I love to play with children,I'd like to play with them whole day long without rests.Children are so cute, they're my best friends. They've sent me my new British ID card,it's a good one,I cherish it so much.It can be used everywhere when I need. I don't need to care about my medical issues, cause my medicine I can buy everywhere in the pharmacies, and the doctors they're all very kind to me. No matter where I am,people are all very gentle and warm-hearted,they're all very kind to me. My bats help me a lot about some issues that I can't solve myself,I really appreciate for them.Fortunately,we've moved to a new better environment than in CQ. And then,my new family will find me something to do,I believe I can do my best, cause they support me so much. I really can, make them no worries, good job!So that they would love to introduce me to their friends,I'm really happy for that!

We each evening will go for a walk,or after supper,we'll go for a drink to the downtown. We each morning will go for running for several blocks, then back for breakfast. We each holiday will go for camping and boating, sometimes we'll go to the seaside. We each day will work, but not too much. After several days,we'll go to London once for tours, cause we'd like to walk on the street,we'd like to know the spots, broaden my horizon. After several months, the local university sends me an offer, invites me to study with them, they ask me about my willings,I said Yes,I desire to go,please apply a place for me.It's a free oppotunity, they gave me a full scholoship, this time I decide to move out to a school accomodation room.My family could be released now. The campus life is so smooth, each day I have pleasure,as an international student, nobody treats me unfair, they all respect me,we are happy together. My campus life is so helpful,I never drop for any reasons.Well,I each weekend will still come back to my family, taking my gifts to them, cause I have many creative gifts, they never feel bored for that, also not surprised, but they're happy and satisfied that I miss them, need to talk with them,no matter what happened,I should be with them, nothing can change my love to my family. And we go for traveling sometimes, all in Europe,I never feel strange while being with my family,we have many friends and relatives,I can remember their each name.We love the first Christmas we celebrating together,as a Chinese with double nationalities,My life in here is never lonely,I'm as good as all the others, letting the other Chinese can feel my happiness,I allow them to share my happiness, cause it's the real happiness. My happiness is located in here, this land is my second hometown. My family makes me love all the festivals here,my favorite is the Thanksgiving Day,I'll also miss my Chinese New Year, but not too much, cause we are busy during that time. After one year I've finished my language school study, this year I've handled the right ways of studying British English,I begin to love talking about the weather and love.I'm a Briton.

I'm such an easygoing person who doesn't know. They like my character, they can't bare any Chinese but they like me so much,I can always make them pleasant, they're enjoying my existence. And I'm a busy girl,I've got a job. It's my British family finds me this job,I work in an office of London, how to describe my work,I'm working as an officer, each day answering the questions of my customers, they're all Londoners, nobles,I'm a very accommodating and understanding person for them, cause our company needs me,I have many workmates, they're all very experienced and caring persons,we cope with each other each day,our working environment is so relaxing and comfortable.,makes me don't want to leave my position,of course I won't,cause the boss is so caring about me,in the first month,he behaves like quite curious about, always asking me questions for living up the atmosphere.I can accept, cause my shortcomings are also so cute in his eyes, the managers are also so humorous, they'd like to joking me,my workmates all like me so much, cause I'm like their sweetheart or something! My internship is so smooth! Time runs fast, they've introduced me several British boyfriends, they all have good works. But I'm 35 year's old already,I really need to live a steady life, like getting married, having several children. By coincidence,I meet a man he's so capital,he's my Mr. Right, and it's my family introduces to me,he's so handsome can bring me safety sense,he's so caring man, each night he hugs me in his strong arms. I move to live with him.

Why we need to encounter each other, why we need to each day never feel bored for touching each other's hearts, why?Cause we feel it's so amazing to let the people know that we're together,we never hide. And you know what? He's a so gentle person,he's always appearing at the different corners of some blocks, his fingers are counting my steps,I each time is shocked by his blonde hair and moody eyes, his charming chest and that attractive temperament. He likes to stroll with me everywhere. We always stroll to stroll to some peaceful roads,we'd like to visit his friends on those streets, they're living happily inside, each day greetings and goodbyes, drunk with them, aspire their beautiful yards with sparrows, they'd like to share their works and book shelves. Recently I always forget to work, cause I just hesitate whether I should quit my job and work for my family, cause my family needs to call me back to talk about how to create a career at home. You know I really love to stay with my families and I can't one day go out without hearing a word from them. It's my habitat here,I always invite my fiance to our home for dinners. he's out to be already a part of our family. But our family is so healthy,we don't have any porno issues,we are normal people. It's a point. And I'm trying to do some housework recently for welcoming our Thanksgiving Day. Yeah, exactly. Now I have a biggger independent room at home, with a private washroom. It's good,it's so convenient. I need to take a bath and wear my new nightgown. Mom and dad suddenly call me to their dining room, they tell me that the Queen needs to see me,cause they're all officials, also nobles you know, they're the Queen who allowed to become my British families beforehand. But Her Majesty has never thought of me after I came to UK that day,how come?My parents ask me to think about how to behave,be careful about my conducts, don't be to hypocritical, cause the Royal Family they dislike. I know,I say.We talk too late that night till the early morning,we still are discussing about what the Queen and her Winsor need to know about me,I'm so familiar now,for everyone here I'm not a mysterious person, maybe it's the Queen's success, without her,I'm nobody.

The Queen Elizabeth II's grandson Prince William's head pieces are waiting over there. Oh,no!A Godfather hand in a big sharp sword, shouting:I've sliced you,my Prince's head into three pieces, how could you hang out again?!Damn!I'm totally shocked and stop my steps. The Prince William's head pieces are like a hamburger, saw me come in,quickly glimpse at me once, then like a child who has done wrongly back to his parent's education today. I have no time to care about where's his body, his head pieces are like listening to his Godfather's words so much. The Queen's like haven't seen me yet, also just stand over there, nervously listening to the Godfather's hawl. I saw the Princess Kate is not there,I feel weird,I secretly come to the Queen's side,I remind her:You know after a long time, the His Majesty's head may couldn't put back to his body then, cause I could see him doesn't have this awareness now. The Queen nods her head, then a glimpse makes the Godfather stops. He quickly call His Majesty's body to come back to his head hamburger, then back to the whole, but just a little bit look like another Godfather, that strange! The Queen leave the room without taking me,she asks me to stay,so I've heard the Prince and Godfather's chatting context. After the Queen and all the others leaving, the Prince William quickly turns to picking up the sword, then plays the sword on the wall, the wall has been wounded now. He tells the Godfather the truth why he needed the Godfather to slice his head into pieces and educated him heavily. Cause if this time successful makes the others think he's already dead,he could quit he himself here, then go with his Godfather to Europe for overseas study. He expresses that he admires my story so much,he needs to learn from me. I've lost words,my heart is broken at the same time. Cause I suddenly think of my promise,I used to dream of letting the Prince William give up his King's position,go with me for travelling whole life.

The ancient China acupuncturist had been used 9 different needles to cure or heal patients diseases. 1.shear needle--Shaped like the arrow ,used to shallow pierce the skin to bloodletting, mainly function for curing the head and body fever and skin diseases. 2.Yuan (circular) needle--A needle is like a cylinder. The tip of the needle’shaped like oval. It is mostly used to massage acupoints to treat muscular diseases. 3.spoon needle--Push needle is a method of treating diseases by pressing the skin surface of meridian acupoints. The length of the pin is about 3 to 4 inches. It is made of thick steel wire, or bone or hardwood. The needle is blunt and round, and does not penetrate the skin. It is used to push the surface of acupoints. The handle is wrapped with aluminium wire, and the nails can be scratched up and down to enhance the feeling when pushing. 4.Ensiform needle--Needle body is round, needle tip is triangular, with a blade. Mainly used for puncturing subcutaneous veins and small vessels, treatment of carbuncle, fever, acute gastroenteritis and so on. 5.Stiletto needle--It's like a sword, a needle with blades on both sides. It is mostly used in surgery to puncture carbuncle and discharge pus blood. 6.round-sharp needle--Like a horsetail, the needle tip is round and sharp. It is mostly used to treat carbuncle, arthralgia and some acute diseases. 7.Acupuncture needle--Made of metal, stainless steel is the most commonly used needle material. Stainless steel filiform needle has high strength and toughness, its body is straight and smooth, it can resist heat and rust, and is not easy to be corroded by chemicals, so it is widely used in clinic. There are also needles made of other metals, such as gold needles and silver needles, whose conductivity and heat transfer performance are obviously better than stainless steel needles, but the needle body is thicker, its strength and toughness are not as good as stainless steel needles, and the price is expensive, so it is generally less used in clinic. As for iron needles and ordinary steel needles, because they are easy to rust and have poor elasticity, toughness and firmness, they are not used at present except for magnetic needle method. 8.Long needle--The needle is longer, usually six to seven inches (equivalent to 20 to 23 centimeters) or longer. It is mostly used for deep needling to treat chronic rheumatism and sciatica. 9.Big needle--The needle is like a stick, slightly round, like a sharp needle, 4 inches long. The big needle is mainly used to treat the disease of stagnation of water and gas in joints for purging water. This needle can also be used to clear up nine orifices and dispel the evil spirit of 365 knots. Link to explore it : https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/cS9jdeJm
