Fic prompt: Who knew Virgil was that strong?!? (I know this has been done before but I’m a sucker for the idea of Virgil being a really good fighter/really strong since he IS Fight or Flight)
YES
I hope u like it! :)
This was not how Roman had intended the day to go. He and Patton had planned it all out, they would all journey into the Imagination, do some sight seeing, and have a picnic at the edge of his favorite field. Roman had expected laughter and finger foods and the occasional eye roll from Virgil or Logan (whichever came first), but he hadn’t expected that he’d be fighting the Manticore-Chimera. It was a newer foe of his, one that he had yet to beat. Oftentimes, he would find that he would be fighting the creature and would end up almost dead (or at the very least, majorly injured). So, when he saw the creature too late, he panicked. Roman manifested his sword as he grabbed at Patton, yanking him away as the claws of the Manticore-Chimera swiped where he was just seconds after.
“Get behind me,” he ordered, turning towards the other sides. Patton looked white as a sheet, frozen with fear. He clung onto Logan, who was looking wildly at the creature in front of them, clearly trying to analyze the situation. Virgil’s mouth hung open slightly as he stared at the monster, not knowing what to do. Roman was surprised that he didn’t pass out from the fear, this must be terrifying for them. He sure knew he was scared. If this thing hurt his family… His thoughts were interrupted by an ear-shattering roar, courtesy of the creature.
“Fuck that. We’ve gotta get out of here.” Virgil all but screamed over the monster’s roar. Logan nodded in agreement.
“Logan, get them to a safe spot in the mountains, I’ll distract it!” Roman turned towards the monster, his sword by his side.
“That’s suicide!” Virgil called back.
“I’ll be fine, go!” Roman shouted, striking the creature’s front legs. It gave another loud shriek. If only Roman was as confident as his words. He knew fighting this thing would be a Death Note, and he had signed it. If only Remus was here, they could tag team it like old times. Too bad this isn’t the old times.
In no time, the beast had bested him. Roman had gotten a couple of good hits in (he was especially proud of striking the creature’s eye, blinding it). But in the end, as he had suspected, he was no match for the monster. After all, it was three heads against one, and he was no Hercules. Roman, in an attempt to get a jab in near the beast’s rib cage, fumbled, and went tumbling down. The creature swiped his sword away, sending it across the field. He was done for. Roman, and the coward he was, looked away from his fate, choosing the stare at the ground for the final strike. But it never came.
A rock was thrown at the creature from across the field. Not one rock, two, three, a whole onslaught of rocks! Roman looked up to see his friends, Patton, Logan, and Virgil all throwing rocks at the Manticore-Chimera.
“Take that you meanie! Leave him alone!” Patton yelled, throwing a rock at it’s head and missing. Logan’s throws were better than Pattons, as they actually found their target. Roman admired their bravery. They came back for him. Virgil appeared by his side, helping him up.
“You shouldn’t have come back,” Roman began, wincing at a cut on his leg. That’d be sore later.
“Pump the breaks, Princey,” Virgil said, allowing Roman to lean on him, “You shouldn’t have done it alone. Let’s go!” He called out. At this point, the creature had it’s full attention on Logan and Patton, who began to run towards them. All four ran into the nearby mountains jumping over rocks as best as the could. Logan pointed to an opening in the mountains, a cave.
“There!” he called, pointing towards it. “It will aid us in finding cover.” The four of them ducked into the cavern, the Manticore-Chimera not far behind. They could hear the beast’s roar as it ran towards them, it’s three heads and sharp claws bared. Logan was attempting to push a rock in front of the hole to use as a barrier between them and the monster.
“Help me,” he grunted, using all of his strength. Patton and Roman ran to help, but the rock wouldn’t budge. The monster was getting closer, you could see it’s fangs as it roared once more. They didn’t have much time. Roman looked over at Virgil, expecting to see him frozen and white with fear. He was quite the opposite. Virgil had a look of determination on his face, his brow set. His eyeshadow seemed to darken, and he gave off a faint purple glow. He seemed bigger, as if he had puffed up. He caught Roman’s eye before running towards them, giving the rock a shove. The rock shuddered slightly to the shock of the three light sides, who looked at Virgil in disbelief. Roman was always thought to be the strongest physically, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Virgil shoved it again, this time the stone rocked a big forward. The creature was almost on top of them now.
“Help me.” Virgil commanded, his voice now having a fro echo. With their last bit of strength, all four pushed the rock, giving way in a final heave. It rolled in front of the entrance, blocking their path from the creature. They could hear it scratch at the rock furiously, trying to get to it’s meal in a frenzy. The four sides held their breath as the attacks slowly began to lessen until they heard the sound of the claws of the monster walk away. It was silent outside. They all let out a breath they didn’t know they were holding. Roman turned back to his friends.
“Are you all alright?” he asked.
“Are we all right? We should be asking you the same question!” Patton inquired, his brow creased in worry.
“Roman, we have discussed this before. How many times must I tell you, you cannot take the Manticore-Chimera on by yourself. It is too perilous.” Logan scolded matter-of-factly. Roman looked at the ground, ashamed.
“I know,” he muttered, “I just didn’t want any of you to get hurt.”
“That’s my job, Princey.” Virgil said, his eyebrow raised. He was back to normal, his purple glow and echo gone. He was back to his usual, small self.
“I know,” Roman smiled. “I’ve got to say, Doctor Gloom, that was some strength you’ve got there!”
“Yes, it is quite intriguing,” Logan nodded, adjusting his glasses, “who knew that you were that strong compared to your usual form.”
“Aw, Verge have you been holding out on us?” Patton grinned.
“Yes, where did you get all that strength from?” Roman inquired. Virgil rubbed the back of his head, looking away from the group.
“Uh, I don’t know. Fight or flight, am I right?” Virgil muttered.
“It’s fascinating!” Logan said.
“It’s heroic!” Roman announced.
“It’s pretty!” Patton cooed. Virgil turned towards Patton.
“Thanks?” he asked, confused. Patton waved at him.
“No, not that!” He pointed, “That!”
Patton pointed towards the back of the cavern, and now that their eyes had adjusted, they could clearly see what the moral side was pointing at. Hundreds and thousands of glowing crystals littered the cavern. It was sparkling in colors of green, purple, and blue. It shimmered as the three approached it.
So, maybe today hasn’t gone the way Roman planned. He didn’t expect a fight, or a few injuries, or Virgil’s incredible strength. But he did like how all of the other three sides set a picnic blanket on the floor of the cavern and ate, talking and laughing and laying on each other while they stared at the ceiling. The day had been an odd one, but not a total waste.
Send me requests! :)

An idiot’s (updated) blogroll
It’s been a while, so here’s an updated list of the Boys.
Tumblr media
The Limsan underworld tells stories of a mysterious man with tresses the color of blood who appears in the dead of night and without rhyme nor reason, murders unsuspecting victims for little more than the sheer enjoyment of killing. This man goes by many names, but the obviously fake moniker he’s chosen for himself appears to be Rori Vetinivi, though the locals call him ‘the Shade of La Noscea.’ He is extremely dangerous, very unstable and can and likely will attack without provocation... Just to soak himself in his victim’s sanguine vital fluids.
Tumblr media
A shy, soft spoken and kind-hearted man from the underwater village of Sui-No-Sato, Seiken Ryotada’s past is a mystery to many, and he prefers to keep it that way. After being exiled for reasons he’s hesitant to divulge, the aquatic Au Ra now wanders the beaches of Eorzea, in search for shells that have washed up with which to make jewelry and other accessories for him to sell. Though he claims to be a pacifist, his skill with blades and polearms suggests that he’s undergone rigorous military training.
Tumblr media
Rapael Blackwoode is a former Sharlayan professor who’s obsession with Allagan chimeraism and aetherochemistry caused fear and disquiet among his colleagues. His research was deemed too dangerous to continue, and was confiscated shortly following the man’s removal from the Sharlayan community. He now continues his twisted research in secret, breeding different monstrous species of the world and crafting dangerous horrors from flesh, science and magic, the hatred of his fellow Sharlayans fueling the fires of his experiments.
Tumblr media
With the inflating popularity of Sky Piracy on the horizon, a man has made a name for himself among the Engineering community; though he prefers to go simply by ‘Fang.’ Selanarien Dawnfang, a half-Highlander, half-Midlander mechanic is... Put simply, an enigma. He can often be found sitting alone in small, quiet taverns, searching for a warm body, a game of gambling or a tall bottle of whiskey to distract himself with, though he gladly accepts any job offered to him, so long as he gets to take things apart. Airship Engineering is his specialty, having once trained under the Garlond Ironworks, and he loves nothing more than dirty his hands with oil and grease beneath the engine of an aircraft.
Tumblr media
The morning and the evening star. The Pharaoh of Belah'dia. The eternal Emperor. Ra’zhir is the Nunh of an ancient tribe of the Sphinx, a long since forgotten kingdom of Seekers of the Sun who inhabited Belah’dia long before the Lalafel claimed their throne... Or so he says. He claims to be thousands of years old, it’s difficult to discern the truth that lies behind this breath-taking, pompous Seeker’s cat-like eyes. One thing is certain, however. His desire to bring about the return of his tribe is unparalleled.
Tumblr media
After watching the death of his family at the hands of the war-crazed and blood thirsty dotharl, a young Qerel boy of the Steppes made his way to the dangerous volcanoes of the Ruby Sea to train in isolation, for the sole purpose of vengeance. There, within a deep cavern, he discovered an ancient and ornate jewelry box, having long since been discarded by it’s previous owner. Within the box, a powerful Void spirit had waited, and it now offered Caragai a choice; in exchange for inhabiting the boy’s body, he would grant him power beyond his imagination. Now at the age of twenty nine, Caragai travels the world in search of the Dotharl that took the lives of his clan, a dark and malevolent demonic entity sitting idle within his ash-blackened heart.
Tumblr media
Once the member of a powerful Yakuza family of Doma, Tatsuya Amane became a changed man after the Garleans attacked and destroyed his beloved home. No longer the young degenerate he once was, he now fancies himself an avenger; a man who will bring down the Empire, or die trying. Though his troubled past often catches up with him, it’s hard to ignore that he has a heart of gold, and distinguished himself in the recent reclaiming of Doma.
Tumblr media
After being attacked and nearly killed by members of his own former Wolf tribe, Mitu found himself in the care of an Ala Mhigan monk and his daughter. There, he trained with the monk to learn the ways of the Fist of Rhalgr, and now roams the desert of the Sagoli, becoming stronger so that he can one day become his own Nunh, and make a tribe free of the patriarchal and archaic society of the Seekers of the Sun. Though it’s difficult to get past his immature and sometimes childish nature, he believes his destiny is to one day change the Seeker world as Eorzea knows it.

Traitorousscales said ➳ (≖ ͜ʖ≖)
Send ➳ and I’ll generate a number between 1-  15 to see what kind of kiss my muse will give yours! 13. A kiss when scared // @traitorousscales It had been their own fault for pushing beyond what their still very much newly immortal body could handle. Messing with the art of sage mode, and failing at it yet again. The Sage herself had warned the Sannin that they were not capable of harnessing the power they were asking for. That they would need to undo the innate fragility they were born with as a human, to ever achieve the transformation they desired. They of course, will never accept that as an answer. When they had been told they would forever be a lowly orphan, they had ascended in to being a war born legend of high political status, when they had been told they were destined to be mortal bound, they had granted themself eternal life. Being unable was simply an obstacle, one they would always overcome. And so they had eventually mustered the ability to use the sage mode, but at a certain cost. If done incorrectly, and how they always seem to do it incorrectly when practicing, it would turn that power inwardly, it would start to implode. Their monstrous chakra feeding on their own self, causing harm to their own body. There is a small mercy in the fact they can not die by such simple means, even fatal injuries shed from their sylphlike figure as if a merely tattered old skin. But this time they had outdone themself in recklessness. Pushing so far that they had been forced to retreat in to a nearby cavern to lick self inflicted wounds. The damage however leaves them fevered, temporarily unstable and unsafe to be exposed to others. Perhaps they should have warned their new companion of this, when he seeks them out without knowledge that they were in such a fragile state. That the mental and physical strain of the backfired power grab had left them unpredictably dangerous. Currently unable to tell friend from foe, and unable to determine reality from paranoia induced illusion, their fear only ever translates to anger, to cautioning. So when he enters the cavern they had hidden themself inside, protected only by the cover of shadows, his presence is mistaken as a threat. He is not the only hybrid here anymore, when the sage mode is failed, the user begins to take on some of the clans appearance, in the Sannin’s case, that being the serpent clan. Their lower body and legs is now that of a snakes tail, while their upper half remains perfectly human, appearing in the image of a mythical naga. Viper like reflexes, just as quick to strike. When he enters, their serpentine half has twisted around the larger chimera’s form. A grip that would snap the spine of a weaker human, but would likely only cause harm or discomfort to someone of his more durable stature.
Tumblr media
In the heart of their delusional and fevered state, they recall everything happening in spotty memories, blacked our blurs coming in and out of focus. They remember attacking him, the futile efforts of a smaller serpent trying to constrict a far bigger one. They recall trying to flee when they found no progress was being made. They recall never seeing the forest and remaining in the cavern, unsure if he had blocked their exit to keep them from leaving in such a dangerous frame of mind, or whether they were so out of it, they simply couldn’t find the exit. They remember growing overly hot, then overly cold. They remember doing all they can to attack and force Teppet back, then doing all they can to stay near and sheltered by him. They recall being intolerant of him, then affectionate, trying to chase him from their hiding place, then using him as their hiding place, being feisty and energetically ready to strike at him like a bristled viper, then tiredly seeking company and companionship when they place a absentminded kiss to his maw, which possessed an equally lethal bite to the Sannin’s own fang concealing jaws. Those flickering memories are what greets them first when they awaken that evening, having spent the day resting. How long they have been asleep for however is a mystery to them, but they are greeted by Teppet himself when their eyes become more accustomed to the real world again. Good. Then they hadn’t scared him off. “Am I permitted to skip to the part where we pretend that I did not try and kill you, or do you actually want me to try and explain myself?” they mumble in clear lingering fatigue, feeling every ache of their strained body from attacking the larger serpent when they were in no condition to fight even a more measly opponent.

I have many different clans and communities in my lore and will probably continue to create more.
Some of my clans no each other and some do not. Clan Nihil and Clan Ula were briefly allied to each other. Clan Ton Theon as a whole does not know of Clan Nihil, but Hecate does because she grew up there. Obviously Clan Ton Theon and Clan Lampsi are well aware of each other (they used to be one clan).
Clan Ton Theon also knows of the Shade Haven. PASC and the Shade Haven know of each other. Lutalica Woods and Ton Theon are allies. Sentry Order Faction E55 are trying to hunt The Cryptids so clearly they know of each other. Avenoir Wastes and Chimera Fang Caverns are allied.
I should really create a diagram of who knows who.
Worldbuilding Wednesday Prompt #3-
What kind of communities are in your lore? Do you have a single clan, or several sub-clans, or even factions? Do they know (of) each other/other clans? Do they get along with other communties? If you had to pick one, (if you have multiple,) how would you describe their day-to-day community life?

And everyone with the Autumn scene *chef kiss*
This scene matches Burden’s vibe way better than the sunparched prowl one did. Especially with the mushrooms! They love mushrooms!
I also really love the scene for Evan. It matches his bio too.
And this is a great scene for Mortabis because... Well lets just say fall is the time of year the bug they’re based on tends to swarm.
Malgacor, Jermejevite, and Asra it just fits their vibes.
And finally I’m so happy this scene exists for Boop! Gosh it’s been awhile since I’ve mentioned Boop, huh? Well long story short she’s an undead baby bogsneak adopted by my original necromancer, Peripeteia. And Peri’s charge is the season of Autumn. So she’s constantly traveling from hemisphere to hemisphere to wherever it is Autumn or about to be Autumn. So Peri has the Autumn clearing scene, and it would make sense for Boop to have an Autumn themed scene as well but I didn’t want her to have the same one as her mom’s so finally she gets her very own Autumn themed scene!
