Our Angel
Summary: Sanji can't believe how lucky he is to have you and this little baby you brought into the world.
Warning: Mentions of giving birth, pregnancy discussion, loving husband Sanji :3
Note: Ahh the final one-shot I have done from the 'knowing' universe! :') I wrote this after the last one, and it's long but also one of my favorites. I love writing Sanji, please let me write more for him.
How much longer? How much longer??
Sanji's anxiety was through the roof as he paced back and forth in front of the infirmary door. You were finally in labor and Chopper and Robin had kicked him out of the room, thinking he was making you more stressed than your contractions were. He could hear them guiding you through the next contraction and telling you to start pushing, and he really, really wanted a cigarette for the first time in months.
He desperately wanted to be in there with you, but didn't want you more stressed than you already were. Sanji believed it couldn't be too much longer, but also wasn't entirely sure. Labor could last hours or even multiple days, yours was progressing quickly though, and it wouldn't be long before you met your baby face to face. Sanji leaned against the door, holding his breath without realizing it, just waiting and listening.
And a few moments later, he finally released his breath when he heard a baby's cries, standing up straight and facing the door, his anxiety finally being taken off his shoulders. He could hear Robin and Chopper congratulating you and telling you that you did amazingly, but he couldn't hear if they said whether you had a boy or girl, or how the baby was doing. The cries though told him that your newborn was doing just well, they were very upset to be in the world now, but it would be all right over time.
After several more minutes of waiting and his anxiety picking up again, Sanji was beyond glad to see the infirmary door open and Robin giving him a smile.
"You can come back in now."
He didn't need to be told twice, quickly entering the room and hurrying to your side, making you laugh when he got to you, dropping to his knees beside your bed and taking your hand before hugging you as close as possible.
"Sanji~"
"I'm so glad you're okay! Both of you!"
Sanji started kissing you all over your face, making you laugh lightly until you both heard a small cry, which made him freeze a bit before looking at your little baby resting comfortably on your chest. Seeing the tears start to well up in his eyes made you smile softly before you looked back at your newborn child.
"What do you think?"
"They're…perfect."
"Isn't she?"
"She?!"
Laughing again you nodded. Through the later months of your pregnancy, Sanji made it clear how badly he wanted and hoped you were having a girl. When your baby first kicked, there was so much excitement between the two of you that he inadvertently called them she, surprising you until you questioned him about it.
"She?"
"...I said they."
"No, Sanji, you said she." You giggled a bit seeing how embarrassed he was at letting his wish for a daughter out like that. "You think we're having a girl?"
"I…hope we are."
You definitely had realized, even before then, that Sanji would be a great girl dad, and now he could prove that to you with your newborn daughter. Just the fact he seemed hesitant to even touch her tiny hand for a second told you he was going to be the most protective dad you'd ever met.
"She looks exactly like you, Sanji."
"She…she really does." Sanji finally reached out and barely brushed your daughter's cheek with his knuckle, which made her move just a bit. She looked like she was his clone almost. The same blonde hair, same curled eyebrows. She basically got nothing from you and everything from your husband, but you didn't really mind it. You might get lucky and she'd get your eye color, but even then it would be all right if not.
She was still your perfect little daughter.
"Can I," Sanji pulled you from your thoughts, nervously biting his lip a bit while looking from your daughter to you, "can I hold her…?"
"Of course!"
Nerves started bubbling up, but Sanji let you show him the best way to hold your daughter. He held her close, keeping one of his hands under her head to give her more support, while she started to whine when she was moved from you to him. You weren't at all surprised when Sanji started to gently hush her, kissing her forehead and softly telling her that she was all right.
"Yeah, it's ok, sweetheart. Daddy's got you, angel."
Your daughter calmed down almost immediately, opening her eyes to try and focus on Sanji, and it nearly took his breath away to see her looking up at him. This was what you two had waited the last nine months for. To finally see and meet your daughter face to face, and here she was! A precious, beautiful little angel that fit perfectly in his arms and looked at him like he was the most amazing thing she'd ever seen (which, granted, she'd really only seen you and Sanji, but it still meant everything to him). You just watched as Sanji stared at her and she stared back at him, before she yawned and snuggled herself more comfortably in his arms, you noticing how his bottom lip was trembling while he watched her fall asleep, kissing her forehead again and whispering how much he loved your sweet little girl.
"[Y/N]...thank you so much for her."
Hearing how strained Sanji's voice was made you smile softly, knowing he was fighting to not start crying. Not right now, he didn't want to wake your daughter or cause her any distress.
"What do you think we should name her?"
"I…I'm not sure, love."
"Well, I have an idea."
+!+
When you had gone into labor, the rest of your crewmates were off the ship. You'd docked at an island the day before and they'd all gone to explore a bit, pick up a few things, and let the log pose reset. You had hoped to go later in the day but obviously things had changed and you wouldn't be joining anyone on this island this time. Robin and Chopper had stayed behind just in case, since you were near your due date anyway and it was a good thing they did.
Once Luffy and the others got back, they were surprised Robin was the only one on the deck of the Sunny waiting for them. Luffy of course was the one to ask, running up to Robin and asking if you were sleeping or something. You'd normally be on the deck waiting for everyone, so it was weird they didn't see you this time.
Robin smiled a bit, "Well I assume she is by now. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl while you all were gone."
Everyone was completely silent, expecting Robin to say she was just kidding to get a rise out of them.
"I'm not joking by the way."
With that statement there were shouts from Usopp, Luffy, and Nami, the latter of the three running for the infirmary right away saying she needed to see her niece. Not even having seen your daughter yet but being happy for you, Franky and Brook were in tears, while Zoro smiled a bit and Jimbei gave a smile and a nod.
"Sounds like the crew has expanded by one then."
Luffy and Usopp were quick to follow after Nami, nearly breaking down the infirmary door asking to see your daughter.
You were actually wide awake, holding your daughter and showing her off to Nami who was cooing softly towards her.
"What a little cutie, yes you are! Aunt Nami is going to buy you lots of cute dresses!"
You laughed a bit while your daughter stared up at Nami, seeming to be completely amazed by her. "You wanna hold her?"
Nami was about to respond when Luffy pushed past her, getting up close to see your daughter. "She's so small!"
"Luffy!" Sanji grabbed your captain by the back of his shirt and started pulling him away. "Get out of her face! You're going to scare her and make her cry!"
"No I'm not!"
"Hey guys."
"Yes you are!" Honestly Sanji trusted Luffy a lot, but he needed to learn boundaries, especially with a newborn baby.
"Nuh-uh! She's gonna think I'm funny!"
"Boys."
"And if she doesn't?!"
"Then…then…I don't know?"
"Idiots!" Nami was close to bashing both their heads in, but her outburst got their attention. "You're both about to make her cry!"
Sanji looked over and saw you gently hushing your daughter who was starting to whine and whimper like she was about to cry, him rushing over by your side to help with quiet, sweet words that he was sorry and didn't mean to be loud.
"My apologies, Angel. I didn't mean to startle you."
Once she calmed back down, you let Usopp and Luffy come over and see her, both of them looking amazed by how small she was. Luffy kept begging to hold her, Nami telling him she had first dibs, and Usopp asking how you both were. Your other crewmates joined you all after a bit, Brook offering to start playing a lullaby to keep your baby girl calm while Franky was crying about how super it was to meet her finally. Robin returned to make sure you weren't getting overwhelmed, and Chopper wanted to do another check on your daughter to be certain she was doing all right. Jimbei gave you his congratulations and said you'd had a beautiful baby, while Zoro mostly stayed to the side, but he did smile just a bit, glad for you to have safely delivered your baby.
You were doing well with everyone there, answering questions and letting each of your crewmates see your daughter up close, they all took turns briefly holding her since they knew that, obviously, they'd have plenty of chances to do so in the future. Once Nami got a hold of her a second time, she refused to let her go to anyone that wasn't you or Sanji. She was going to absolutely spoil your daughter and everyone could see that.
"Hey hey," Luffy latched onto your arm, giving you a big grin, "what'd you guys name her??"
The small bits of chatter quieted hearing Luffy's question, most of your friends looking at you or Sanji for an answer. Nami still had your daughter in her arms, very gently bouncing the sleeping newborn.
You smiled at Sanji with a slight nod, him returning the gesture to speak up.
"We've decided to call her Angel. After calling her that while [Y/N] was pregnant, it…it felt right."
Truthfully you had offered to name her after Sanji's mother, whether you'd had a boy or girl, and he almost took you up on it, but felt that for now, he'd wanted to give your child their own, unique name. He really did greatly appreciate you wanting to honor his mother, but didn't feel ready for that yet. And like he'd said, you two had called your daughter an angel the whole time you were pregnant, actually naming her Angel felt like the right thing to do and you both thought it sounded wonderful when you decided.
"What a sweet name." Robin smiled and nodded, the rest of your crewmates agreeing with her.
After some time Chopper said you needed rest and it was close to dinner time, making Sanji nod.
"I'll go get something started for–"
"Nope!" Shaking her head, Nami handed Angel back to Sanji to stop him. "We'll take care of dinner and bring you guys some; you stay with your wife and daughter, Sanji!"
With a grin she left the infirmary and headed straight for the kitchen, everyone else following shortly after her, once they'd given you another congratulations and said goodnight to their niece. Seeing the shocked look on Sanji’s face made you laugh once everyone else had left.
“...did I just get banned from my own kitchen?”
+!+
The rest of the evening went by smoothly and quietly for your little family. Nami had sent Zoro to bring you and Sanji dinner once it was done, and you were grateful for having so many people to take care of your family while you recovered. Chopper came in a few times to check up on you and Angel, making sure both of you were doing well before he headed off to bed, telling Sanji to come get him if anything happened. After you had dinner and nursed Angel again, you went and took a quick shower, leaving Sanji with your daughter which made him terribly nervous even though he knew it was only going to take you a few minutes to shower. All he did the whole time you were gone was watch her sleep. You'd given her a pacifier to hopefully keep her calm and sleeping, and it did work. Sanji was just so enthralled with her, gently hushing her and stroking her chubby cheek whenever she started to fuss a little.
"Hey it's alright, don't cry. Mommy will be back soon, daddy's got you for now."
When you did get back, you held back a laugh seeing Sanji was nearly asleep while holding Angel. Quietly, you went over and took her from him, waking your sleepy husband and telling him it was just you, you were going to get Angel to bed so you both could sleep. While Sanji followed your lead and went to take a shower himself, you got Angel ready for bed and comfortable in a bassinet near you, she was sleeping soundly and you knew she'd wake at some point in the night, but until then, you'd watch her sleep and hold her little hand, making sure she knew you weren't going anywhere.
"I love you so much, Angel," leaning over, you placed a soft kiss on her forehead, "I'm so glad you're ours."
Once he came back from his own shower, Sanji wasn't even the slightest bit surprised to find you already asleep, still holding your daughter's hand. You'd had quite a day, having pushed a whole new person out into the world, nursing her multiple times, and having to deal with your anxious crewmates for several hours after they got back. It was a wonder you'd stayed awake as long as you had! Sanji knew he was staying with you in the infirmary as long as Chopper made you and Angel stay there, so he did the same as you and kissed your daughter's forehead, before slipping into your bed beside you, bringing you close to him and kissing your cheek once he did.
"I'm so proud of you, [Y/N]. You've been amazing today."
You shifted a bit, making Sanji smile when you told him you loved him before falling back fast asleep.
"I love you too…both of you."
+!+
Your sweet little Angel had grown so much in the last three years. She had ended up with your eye color, which made you beyond happy that she'd gotten something from you. She'd learned to walk, talk, and had the brightest smile and giggles on the Sunny, apart from Luffy that is. She really was an angel to everyone, but especially you and Sanji.
Her first steps weren't really because of you or Sanji, it was Luffy and Usopp trying to get her to start taking a few on her own. She'd been able to walk a slight bit at the time with someone holding her hands, but not on her own yet. You absolutely trusted Usopp and Luffy with her (despite how many times Luffy tossed her into the air and caught her, the fear you felt the first time made you consider leaving), they were helping Angel learn to walk under your watch, you were sitting nearby on a lounger with Sanji, who was slightly nervous watching them. Honestly Sanji was the more nervous parent at times, but you knew he just wanted Angel to be as safe as possible while you all traveled the seas.
"Come onnnnn, you can do it, Angel!" Luffy grinned at her with his arms wide open, while Usopp had a hold of her hands, keeping her standing up. Angel frowned a bit, tears welling up in her eyes when she tried to reach for Luffy but couldn't grab him. He was only a few feet away, he'd easily be able to hurry over and lift her up, but your captain also really wanted to see her take her steps on her own.
"You wanna try, Angel?" Usopp smiled and let go of one of her hands to ruffle her hair a bit, which made her whine slightly. Luffy took two very small steps forward, arms still wide open and grinning.
"You can do it!"
Angel kept reaching her free hand towards Luffy, before she looked at her feet and took a step, looking back at him while she started to walk on her own once Usopp let go of her hand.
Watching your then nine-month-old daughter take her first solo steps caused you to tear up while Sanji was beaming with pride. Angel made it over to Luffy on her own, and once she did, he scooped her up in his arms with loud laughter.
"Yahoo, you did it, Angel!!"
"Good job! Next you'll be running around the ship!"
Angel giggled loudly while Luffy tossed her gently into the air. After the one time he threw her too high up causing you and Sanji to threaten him he'd been more careful, especially seeing how much she enjoyed being tossed up and caught. After that, she started following you and Sanji like a duckling, eventually getting to where she was running around the Sunny, either chasing someone or being chased with loud laughter.
When she said her first word, you weren't even on the ship. You had gone into town with Franky and Jimbei when you landed on an island, checking the place out to see what stores they had and how long it would take the log pose to reset. You'd left Angel on the ship with Sanji, and while he was grateful for the time with your daughter, he was also trying to figure out what groceries he needed to go shopping for the next day. Nami offered to entertain Angel while he checked the pantry and fridge, taking her out to the deck for some sun and to play with her.
"You are just so cuuuuuute! You got your daddy's hair and eyebrows but your mommy's face!"
Angel smiled and giggled a bit at Nami, covering her mouth with her little hands. At this point she was already 18-months-old, but hadn't said her first word just yet. You weren't very concerned, knowing it would happen when it happened, but every evening when the three of you went to your room, Sanji would sit with Angel on your bed and try to get her to say something more than her toddler babbling.
"Come on, sweetheart. Can you say dada?"
Angel babbled, no discernable words coming from her mouth while she smiled and reached at Sanji.
"Then…mama?"
"Mmmm….mmmm…." She pressed her lips together before sticking her tongue out.
You laughed, shaking your head. "I don't think she's ready yet, Sanji."
Nami had given Angel a coloring book and some crayons to entertain herself, especially once she started talking with Zoro about the money he owed her.
"I'm just saying, if you leave me with a little of your allowance every time we dock, you'll be paid off in no time!"
"How much is a little?"
"Mmm," Nami thought for a second, patting Angel on the head when she smiled at her, "about 300 berries."
"That's a tenth of what you give me!"
"Yeah, and?"
Zoro's eye twitched slightly, obviously annoyed by this. It wasn't his fault all the stuff he normally bought was expensive, or that he spent a decent bit of it on booze!
The two argued a bit more while Angel watched them, giggling a bit when Zoro lifted her up.
"Wait, where are you taking her?!"
"Nap time. Right, tiny cook?"
"Nap!"
Nami and Zoro both stared at Angel in surprise, your daughter yawning a little and sticking her thumb in her mouth.
"Did she just…?"
"She did! Sanji!!"
Hearing Nami yell for him, Sanji dropped what he was doing and ran out to the deck instantly. "What's wrong?!"
"Listen, listen!!" Nami turned back to Angel and Zoro, telling him to say what he did before.
"Hey, it's nap time, right?"
Angel nodded. "Nap!"
Hearing her say an actual word, not toddler babbling, made Sanji's jaw drop and he started to tear up a bit. "Y-Yeah! It's nap time, Angel!"
Honestly it was an odd first word, but when you heard her say it, it made you smile and hug her close, kissing her chubby cheeks and telling her how proud you were. After that, the words came more easily and she quickly realized she knew who mama and dada were, and started calling you and Sanji whenever she needed you. She eventually had nicknames for everyone so she could call them easily, and your crewmates accepted them instantly.
As she got older, turning three more recently, you'd become even more amazed with your daughter and how she was becoming her own person. She was a giggly mess most days, loved fruit over every other food, and took naps almost as often as Zoro. They had become napping buddies much to Sanji's chagrin, but he eventually accepted since Zoro would bring Angel to one of you once she was awake.
Nami made good on her promise to buy Angel lots of cute dresses, your daughter's wardrobe was better than yours. Robin would sit and read with her until she fell asleep most nap times, if Zoro wasn't around at the moment. Usopp and Luffy would play games like tag or hide and seek with her, one of them always having Angel on their shoulders in a team up against the other. Chopper would join them most of the time, or he and Angel would play on the swing or in the kiddy pool together. Franky made Angel new toys constantly, only with your approval did he give them to her. Brook would play whatever song or lullaby Angel wanted to hear, or do his infamous 45 Degrees to make her burst out laughing. Jimbei would tell her (along with Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper) various stories he had from before he joined you all, and she loved every one of them.
Despite your love for your crewmates, you had more enjoyed introducing Angel to the Baratie crew over everyone else. After your pregnancy was confirmed, Sanji had given them a call, speaking to Zeff before anyone else and letting him know he was going to, basically, be a grandfather. It became so quiet that you and Sanji both wondered if the connection got severed, before hearing Patty yell asking why Zeff was crying over the transponder snail receiver. It made Sanji tear up worse than when you told him you were definitely pregnant, and he had to give you the receiver to tell the rest of the Baratie crew. When they all heard, they cheered and gave congratulations to you and Sanji, a few of them saying you absolutely had to stop by once the baby had been born. Once Angel was born, you sent over all the pictures you took of her so everyone at Baratie could see her as she grew up. Eventually your ship made it back to the East Blue and the Baratie, around the time of Angel's second birthday, which Zeff demanded you to celebrate there once you arrived. You dressed her in a cute little, frilly pink dress that Nami had gotten her, and knew Sanji was anxious for everyone to meet the both of you properly. Of course, you'd been with the Straw Hats already when you'd been by and recruited Sanji, but things had moved so fast back then that formal introductions were an afterthought. Now that Sanji was back with you as his wife and with his little daughter, it was definitely nerve-wracking for him.
Well, it was until the three of you stepped inside and all the chefs quickly rushed to see Angel, all of them fawning over and doting on her. Almost all his nerves went away as Patty, Carne, and the others tearfully loved on your daughter and introduced themselves to both of you properly. Angel became shy with so many new faces, reaching for Sanji to take her from you which he did, and she hid her face in his shoulder.
"Aww come on little one, what's wrong?"
"She's just overwhelmed. It's too many people at once."
Hearing that, most of the Baratie chefs dissipated in order to let Angel relax again, the only one coming up to the three of you was Zeff himself, bringing back Sanji's nerves.
"Well, the baby eggplant has his own baby eggplant now."
"Watch your mouth with my daughter, crap geezer." The smiles on both their faces told you all was well, this was the norm between Sanji and Chef Zeff. Sanji got Angel's attention to get her to lift her face from his shoulder, pointing her view to Zeff. "This is your grandad, Angel."
Angel blinked a little, not the slightest bit scared and reached for Zeff, knowing it was safe because Sanji said so. Once Zeff had a hold of her, Angel just smiled and giggled, giving him a loose hug. It made him turn away from both of you, confusing you the most, until you heard Carne shout that Zeff was crying again and got to be the first to hold Angel. You laughed when you noticed Sanji had turned away as well, fighting his own tears. The rest of your visit was less tearful, filled more with laughter while everyone entertained Angel and you told all the stories you had of her up until then. You did also learn that Zeff kept every picture you sent of her in his room, a fact that made Sanji happier than you could have imagined.
After your visit back to Baratie, you kept in touch by sending more pictures, even a few letters telling stories of what Angel was learning and how well she was growing.
The last three years had changed so much, you and Sanji couldn't imagine life without your little angel.
"[Y/N], mon amour! Angel, my dearest!!"
"Daddy!!" Angel's bright [e/c] eyes lit up, squealing when Sanji came over to the both of you, providing you with a drink and snack, and Angel with her favorite snack of apple juice and carrots.
"I've got your drinks and snacks for the day!" He gave you both the most loving smile, making you return it and Angel giggled.
"Say thank you daddy!"
"Thank youuu!"
Clutching his heart, Sanji still couldn't believe his luck, even after all this time. Seven years married to you, three years of life as a father. The amount of love he had for you two made it feel like his heart was going to burst out of his chest most days.
"Oh, my beautiful girls!! What gods did I please to deserve you?! I love you both so much!!"
You laughed a bit, taking a sip of your fruity water and rubbing your slightly swollen stomach. "What're you gonna do if this one's a boy?"
"Oh, that's easy," Sanji gave you a loving smile while he picked Angel up as she requested, "I'll love him as much as I love you both."
"Have you thought about what I said? For a name?"
Nodding, Sanji sat beside you on the lounger with Angel still in his arms, her grabbing her sippy cup and a baby carrot.
"I have, and I think…I'll take you up on it this time."
Smiling, you gave a slight nod, before kissing his cheek with a hand still on your stomach.
"Sora it is then."
A few months later, you ended up having a little boy with your hair and Sanji's eyes, and Angel was absolutely in love with her baby brother once Sanji introduced him to her. Your crewmates once again were beyond happy for you, and you just couldn't imagine your life turning out any other way.

Do it for them- Co-captain reader x Curly
Previous - Part 15 - Next
The day of the rescue was getting closer and closer, with only a week left.
And it was that day when you woke up in the middle of the night hearing Anya's whimper.
Those last few weeks, you had settled in the nursery, just in case something unexpected happened with her pregnancy, so they would have everything on hand for her labor.
Anya: "It hurts!! It hurts a lot-!"
"You're doing well, Anya, hang in there a bit longer."
You said calmly with a smile on your lips, quickly giving her some painkillers, hoping that would relieve her.
Soon Swansea and Daisuke were there to help her.
Daisuke brought hot water and some towels.
Swansea brought all the possible pillows to make Anya comfortable, and stayed by her side holding her hand so she could hold onto something during the process.
Curly could only witness the moment and how everyone was helping; he would have loved to be able to do something in a situation like that, but he was just a burden.
"I can see the head, Anya, you're doing well, keep it up!"
Anya: "TAKE THAT OUT FOR ME PLEASE!!"
Swansea: "AAHG! HOW DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH STRENGTH!"
Daisuke: "AHH! WHY IS EVERYONE SCREAMING??"
"STOP SCREAMING!"
Everyone fell silent when a loud cry was heard in the room, you breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the worst was over.
You heard a loud thud, realizing that Daisuke had fainted.
You couldn't help but stare at him for a few seconds; you were the one covered in blood with a baby in your arms, and he fainted. You still had to cut the cord and make sure the placenta had come out completely.
Swansea: "If you allow me to ask... What is it??"
With a cloth, you were wiping the baby's blood.
"She is a girl"
You looked at Anya, waiting for some kind of response from her, watching as she started making sounds, a mix between laughter and crying.
Anya: "I can't... I can't see her... Please don't bring it closer to me... I don't want to hear it anymore..."
She covered her eyes with her arms.
Swansea: "Give it to me"
The man extended his hands towards you and you looked at him curiously, handing over the girl who was still crying loudly, and upon feeling the contact with the man's chest, the warmth of human kindness, she gradually calmed down.
Swansea stood up to leave the room, with the baby in her arms, she wanted Anya to have a moment of peace.
You helped her clean herself first, find a more comfortable place to rest, change her clothes, and make sure her signs were okay, that she wasn't losing more blood than she should.
"How did it feel?"
Anya: "...The head was the worst... But... Then I felt an enormous relief..."
"Do you think you'll be able to breastfeed her? We don't have anything to give him milk otherwise."
Anya: "...I would prefer... Not seeing her nor touching her..."
"Then we will find a way"
You were extremely focused on her well-being, touching her forehead and noticing she had a slight fever, you let her rest on a stretcher with a cold cloth on her forehead.
You sat on Curly's cot, both of you watching her sleep.
"...They say the moment a mother gives birth is beautiful, but... It's not true, it's exhausting, it's painful, it leaves you with scars, your body won't be the same. The only thing that makes it beautiful is... That you gave life to a child you actually wanted... That... It would mean that Anya only went through horrible pain... As if it were a surgery, removing a tumor that only harms you."
You murmured and looked at your husband, slowly lying down beside him, surprising him, you planned to sleep there with him, as you used to.
"You still want children, right?"
He didn't say anything, he just looked at your face.
"...Me too"
You answered him to turn your back and try to sleep.
The next day, you and Daisuke couldn't help but burst out laughing when you saw the solution Swansea had given Anya so she wouldn't have to breastfeed the baby.
Swansea: "Laugh as much as you want! But this was the only way I had to feed my eldest son when his mother couldn't!"
Swansea had a latex glove with Anya's milk stuck to his shirt, with a small hole in one of the fingers through which Polly was suckling, nestled against the man's chest.

Movie Night - Part 3
[Story Collection] | [Part 2] [●]
“Uhh… ahh… wha-what the fuck are you talking about? Tha-that’s not fucking funny… uugghh, there’s something wrong,” Hunter managed to say through gritted teeth, clearly in pain. He was squeezing my hand really hard; his breathing became heavy, and his belly kept contracting. Tears streamed down his cheeks, showing how much pain he was experiencing.
“I’m not kidding. Just look at the movie and then look at yourself. It all makes sense. Somehow, I knocked you up. It makes sense,” I explained, but Hunter looked harshly at me, clearly not believing me.
“I’m a man! Men can’t get pregnant... aaaggghhh… I don’t wanna hear your… uugghh… jokes about my weight,” Hunter replied, crying even harder. He suddenly got all emotional, another proof to confirm my theory.
“Hey, I’m not kidding, and you know I’d never make fun of your weight. I like you, Hunter. I like you this big or with abs. It’s time we stop pretending we’re still just friends,” I said, looking him in the eyes. He breathed heavily and rubbed his belly. “I think you’re my man, Hunter. The one I want,” I added, leaning in to kiss his lips. However, before I could do it, he screamed in pain once again.
“Ryan, take me to the bathroom. Please… uugghh… I need to go unless you want me to… aah… ruin our couch,” Hunter said, struggling to move from the couch without success.
“Did you even hear what I said?” I asked, feeling confused and hurt.
“BATHROOM! NOW!” he shouted. I stood from the couch and extended my arms to help him stand.
I grabbed both his arms and pulled him up, hearing him groan and grunt all along. He was heavier than I expected, probably because he wasn’t making any effort to stand up. It seemed like he was in so much pain that his legs weren’t responding, or maybe he just wanted me to do all the work. Whatever the case was, as strong as I was, it was difficult for me to get him off the couch.
Tears of pain were running down his cheeks, and his belly was still shaking violently. Realizing that moving him off the couch would be too painful for him and nearly impossible for me, I instead pushed him and helped him lie on his back. He was clearly mad at me and tried to resist, but he was clearly in too much pain to have the strength to do so.
“Hunter, listen to me. You’re in labor. Just trust me, okay? Look at me. I’m not joking,” I said, his teary eyes locked into mine. I saw the fear in his eyes and couldn’t blame him. I was also scared, and I wasn’t in his position.
“Ryan, it can’t be. I’m a-a-aahhhhhhhhh… Please help me!” Hunter screamed out and clutched his big belly tightly. Now that he was lying on his back, his belly looked tighter and bigger than ever.
“Just breathe, Hunter. We’ve watched TV shows about this. Well, not exactly this, but I guess it works the same. You have to breathe until you feel the urge to push,” I said while Hunter groaned and rubbed his belly.
“Ryan, stop. I’m not pregnant. I’m not in labor. I’m not having your child… ugghh… man, I’m going to poop on the couch… ahhh!” he screamed, and it took me a moment to realize he was feeling something coming out of his ass. “I swear, if I survive this, I’ll kill you. Take me to the fucking bathroom,” he managed to say, unintentionally lifting his legs, getting in the right position to push.
As he kept breathing heavily, I tried to recall any knowledge I had about childbirth, which was limited considering the unusual scenario. However, I tried to calm myself down and think about what I could do to help Hunter. Memories of movies and videos I had seen rushed to my mind, and I quickly ran to the bathroom to get the supplies we needed. I could hear Hunter’s groans and labored breathing from there.
As I collected towels and a pair of scissors to cut the cord, I realized that I was about to become a father, at least if my theory was correct. That realization hit me hard. I looked at my reflection in the mirror, contemplating the idea of myself as a dad to the baby Hunter was giving birth to. Many thoughts crossed my mind, especially since we were both males and only supposed to be friends. Also, Hunter’s lack of response to my love declaration earlier made me feel insecure about what would happen between us if he was really having my kid.
Lost in my own thoughts, I heard Hunter calling my name, and I quickly ran back to the living room with the towels and scissors in hand. Hunter was in the same position, with his knees bent, and this gave me a clear view of his gaping hole. I knew nothing about the process of childbirth, but I was sure Hunter was dilated enough to push. As I got closer, I noticed the undeniable shape of a baby’s head slowly emerging from Hunter’s hole.
“Hunter, I know you don’t believe me, but I need you to trust me. I need you to push. And I promise this will be over soon,” I said as I knelt by the couch and held Hunter’s hand.
“No, no, no. This can’t be real. Ryan… uuugghh… I don’t want to push… I-I need this to stop,” he said with teary eyes, and I kissed his cheek.
“Hey, I promise this will be over soon. I’m here with you. Now, trust me, you need to push,” I said firmly.
Hunter took a deep breath and started pushing after a few seconds of hesitation. “I can’t… be doing… this… uugghh,” he said, groaning through the effort. He still seemed in denial, but at least he was slightly progressing.
“Don’t worry, it will all be over soon and… and… well, we’ll deal with the results later,” I kissed his belly and positioned myself between his legs, still holding his hand.
I was in awe of Hunter’s strength and how he was dealing with what looked like an incredibly painful experience. As I looked at his hole opening more and more as the baby’s head crowned, I couldn’t contain some tears of joy, aware that I was watching my child being born.
As the baby’s head was crowning, Hunter was clearly struggling to make progress due to the size of the baby’s head. He was pushing with all his might. I could see it on his face, but the baby was big, making it difficult for Hunter to clear the baby’s head.
“Come on, Hunter. You’ve been doing amazing. Just push,” I said, but he only looked harshly at me.
“I don’t even know what I’m… ugh… doing! I feel like… uh uuuhh… like my guts are coming out… uugghh… of me!” He said, and I smiled kindly at him.
“Give me a second, and I’ll give you some good motivation to keep pushing,” I said and quickly ran to grab my phone. I quickly took a photo of the baby crowning and showed it to Hunter. He instantly became speechless. “You see? Just keep pushing, and we’ll have our baby in our arms”. I added, and he started crying.
As he started pushing again, I noticed he immediately started progressing. With a deep breath, he focused all his energy on pushing, determined to meet his baby. It was a surreal scene, and with each push Hunter gave, more of the baby’s head emerged, and the more emotional I became. I was glad to be there for Hunter and for our child, and deep inside, I wondered if this would change something in our friendship.
After several strong pushes, the baby’s head finally popped out, followed by more fluids. Hunter took a short break before the baby started turning, and the shoulders slowly came out while Hunter screamed out in evident pain. I had never witnessed a birth before, and I had never seen a newborn this close. But I knew our baby was bigger than average. Not only was the head huge, but the broad shoulders showed we were having a little giant.
“Why is this baby so big?” Hunter managed to say as the shoulders came through, and the rest of the body started slowly sliding out.
“You’ve been eating a lot over the last few months. You’re the only one to blame for this,” I said as I placed my hands under our big boy, holding him while his torso came out, soon followed by his hips, legs, and finally his legs.
When the baby was finally born, Hunter finally lay back and took a deep breath. He was clearly relieved, and I couldn’t blame him. As I cleaned our big baby boy, I marveled at his size and weight. I estimated that he weighed around 12 pounds, which was incredibly impressive. What impressed me the most, however, was how perfect he looked.
The baby looked like a perfect mix of Hunter and me. As I cleaned his face and cleared his nose, he started crying loudly. I saw Hunter jumping in excitement, trying to sit up to see the baby.
“Just give me a minute, Hunter. Let me finish cleaning our big baby boy before you can hold him,” I said, tears of joy streaming down my face.
“A… boy? Did I really have a baby?” Hunter asked, still confused, even though he could see the baby in my hands.
“Yes, you did, and he’s perfect. You did a great job,” I said as I finished and carefully placed him in Hunter’s arms.
Hunter started crying instantly as the baby cooed in his arms. It was such a cute scene, but as I looked at Hunter and the baby, I noticed Hunter’s belly was still pretty big. Even though it had definitely deflated, it was still too round to look empty. Shivers ran down my spine while I considered the possible implications.
While Hunter got our baby close to his nipple to feed him, I started rubbing his belly and immediately felt that it was still too hard to be just skin. I didn’t know how to tell Hunter that I thought there was still another baby. So, as I cut the cord of the first baby, I looked at him, waiting for him to realize it on his own, but Hunter was so entranced with our first baby boy that he wasn’t paying attention to anything else.
“Hunter, I think… I think…” I was trying to find the words to tell him, but a loud gran interrupted me as his belly started contracting again, and his hole started opening even faster than before. “Another baby is coming,” I finally managed to say. But Hunter was unconsciously pushing by then.
“What? Another one? No, no… no… uugghh… Fuck!” Hunter managed to say, clearly confused. The first baby was suckling on his nipple, and now there was a second one slowly making its way out of him.
“Hey, you’ve got this. You did it once; you can do it again,” I added as I got between Hunter’s legs again, trying to sound supportive.
“This is all your fault. You did this to me. You… uughh… uuhh… you knocked me up… uuhh uuhh uhh… now… I-I…aahhhh,” he said, clearly mad at me. But since we both knew what to expect, he started pushing, and the baby was coming out much faster than the first one, even though it looked just as big.
I just smiled at him as our second baby was already crowning. His strong pushes were very effective, making me feel proud of him. As I looked at Hunter bringing our second child into the world, I felt like my heart would burst out of my chest. Having a family had crossed my mind a few times over the years, and there was no better way to start it than doing it with Hunter.
“Why are you looking so… annoyingly happy? Do you like seeing me in this position?” Hunter asked as the second baby’s head popped out.
“Well, yeah. I do. You look hot,” I replied. Even though Hunter was in pain, he looked at me in surprise as the baby turned.
He didn’t respond and kept pushing, while I noticed the second baby was just as big as the first. The head was big, and the shoulders were broad. Although I was aware of Hunter’s discomfort, it all felt like a dream. As I placed my hands under our second baby to support him, I couldn’t help but smile, and tears of joy streamed down my face. I felt a bit silly for being so emotional, but what I had just witnessed was too amazing to contain my feelings.
Once the second baby’s feet had slid out of Hunter’s body, I heard him breathing heavily as he collapsed back on the couch, completely exhausted. He was holding our first baby so lovingly that it warmed my heart. It was as if a paternal instinct had been activated in Hunter’s mind, making him aware that he had to protect the baby. So, while I cleaned the second one, he softly caressed the first one.
“Another big and healthy boy,” I said with a big smile on my face as the second started crying loudly.
“I-I still can’t believe they came out of me… and… I think it’s over now?” Hunter said as he rubbed his deflated belly.
“I think the placenta still needs to come out, but after these two babies, I don’t think you’ll have any problems with that,” I said as I finished cleaning the second baby and placed him on Hunter’s free arm.
“He’s just as perfect as his older brother and just as big. No wonder my belly was so big and heavy,” Hunter said as he looked down at the babies, and the second one started nursing on his free nipple.
“We’re both big guys, so it was only logical we’d have big kids,” I smiled and caressed the babies’ hands.
“Do you really understand those words? We have kids. We’re both men. How are we going to… ugh… no, no, no… there’s another one?” He said, between groans, as he experienced more contractions.
“No, no, no, I think it’s the placenta. It shouldn’t be…” I was saying when the placenta came out of him, along with lots of fluids. “... easy for you. See? No more babies. You did it. You gave us two wonderful boys. And I couldn’t be prouder of you,” I said, kissing his cheek.
While our big baby boys were nursing on Hunter’s nipples, drinking the huge amount of milk his pecs had been producing, we remained silent for what felt like an eternity, just looking at our kids. I had no idea how we would explain the babies to our friends and family, but at that moment, all I cared about was Hunter and the kids in his arms. I wasn’t sure about Hunter’s feelings towards me now that we had kids together, but I knew we could make things work.
****
About an hour after the delivery of the placenta, our babies were peacefully sleeping in my bed, wrapped in improvised blankets made from our clothes and sheets. Hunter was lying next to them, still processing the fact that the babies had come out of his body. Then, I lay down right behind Hunter and carefully hugged him.
“We make handsome kids together, right?” I whispered, reaching over to Hunter to touch our babies’ hands.
“We do, but I still can’t believe they’re ours. I mean, how?” Hunter said as he slowly turned around to face me.
“Well, I think we both know how. When I fucked you and…” I said, and he chuckled.
“Ryan, you know what I mean. We’re both men. We’re just friends, and now we…” He said, but I interrupted him with a kiss.
“And now we have kids together. We’re a family,” I said as we looked into each other’s eyes. “You didn’t respond earlier, but I meant it when I said you’re the man I want. I don’t want to pretend we’re just friends anymore. I’ll be honest, I love you, Hunter. I know it’s not just lust because I’ve never felt like this before, and these kids helped me realize what true love feels like,” I added, and he started crying.
Without saying a word, he wrapped his arms around my neck and pulled me into a passionate kiss that left me breathless. I didn’t need his words to understand he felt the same way as I did. I didn’t need him to tell me he also wanted us to become a family. After months of living under a ‘friends with benefits’ tag, we finally embraced our true feelings and showed them to each other.
“Ryan, I love you too. Despite the pain you put me through while giving birth to your kids, I wouldn’t have done it for anyone else but you,” he said as he wrapped his legs around my waist and guided one of my hands to his fat ass.
“Is this some kind of invitation to… have more kids?” I playfully said as I firmly grabbed his ass.
“Well, it’s still movie night, and we have a routine after the movie ends. Do as you want with me. We’re no longer just friends, so this ass belongs to you,” he said as our lips met again, and my hands kept playing with his ass.
“Let’s move to your room so we don’t wake the babies up,” I suggested as we continued making out. “Hmm, I love how movie night always ends like this.”

17 . . . alfons main story

—— Alfons’ POV ——
After Kate had left the pub,
I stayed behind, drinking whatever and whenever I felt, playing around in the night streets, and by the time I returned, Roger gave an earful, much to my displeasure.
I spent time around the vicinity as I pleased before returning to my room and catching up on some sleep that playing around at night had robbed me of,
and before I knew it, morning had come around.
Alfons: ‘You went and meddled even more, because that’s what you wanted’...
Lying down on the bed, I ruminated over the words from last night, leaving a bad taste.
After all, they were words that rang too true.
Alfons: ...Indeed, I had so much fun playing around with her that at some point I found myself closer to her than I ever thought.
A: She never felt discouraged in the slightest, even when she followed me around to places that should instill fear in her, and on top of that she would even fight a battle within a fire...
A: Now that I think back, perhaps she really had grown out of needing a ‘convenient illusion’ like myself.
She was someone who could live in reality in earnest. She could give her love to someone, and she could find her happiness.
——She could realize what I could only ever dream of.
—— Flashback ——
Alfons: hah... hah...
I left the boy named Roger behind, running for the orphanage that had kicked me out.
‘To die without leaving his mark on anyone’s memories.’
In other words, the fact I had been born, and the fact I will die... nothing will be left behind. Such was the my life.
The moment I had heard those words, I thought of the corpses of those nameless children, thrown out like they were garbage——
And I was struck with a fear that shook me to my core.
(But, that cat will surely remember me.)
(He wouldn’t ever forget me.)
That was all I wanted to check on. I just wanted to feel that warmth on my fingers once more, driving me to run as fast as my feet could take me.
When I knocked on the door of the orphanage, which was in poor condition, the head nurse answered.
And from behind her——a cat approached.
Cat: What’s with the noise?
Alfons: Oh, thank goodness... hey, don’t you remem——
Cat: ...Wh—it’s you!
Before I could finish my question, though, the cat threw a punch at me.
Alfons: gh!? B-but why...
Cats couldn’t hit people.
Wait, no, in the first place, cats——could not wear clothes. Nor could they speak words.
(So why is this cat wearing clothes and speaking?)
A throbbing migraine hit me then and there, causing me to close my eyes.
And when I opened them again, there before me stood——
the director of the orphanage, with a foul look.
(Ahh... that’s right.)
(I remember now...)
(My cat had long been——)
—— Flashback ——
It had happened on a certain day when I had made a small mistake.
And the director, knowing I wouldn’t react the way he wanted even when harassing me, instead aimed for the cat I had held so dear.
Seeing the cat become more and more of a lump of flesh right before my eyes, I felt my head start to throb in pain.
(This isn’t reality. That isn’t my cat...)
I said to myself, ‘The one who’s being hurt is not myself,’ as I always did.
All to escape to a convenient dream.
Such a habit, at that time, cast upon me a convenient illusion.
(My cat would never be killed by the likes of that director!)
(It’s the cat...)
(Yes, that’s right... it’s the cat who killed the director.)
The director, seeing me suddenly becoming devoid of all emotions despite having broken down crying just before, approached with a nervous air about him.
——In my eyes, though, it was a cat that approached me.
Alfons: I knew you could do it, my kitty cat.
And then I gently pet the back of its neck, as I had always done.
Then, after having peeked into the room that had gone quiet, the head nurse let out a cry.
Meanwhile, the cat let out a purr as I pet it.
Perhaps, the scene that was reflected in the head nurse’s eyes was that of the director down on all fours, purring as I pet him.
Truly, what a pitiful scene it was.
But, even so, to me, the director was killed by the cat, while the cat still lived on.
—— End flashback ——
——That is, until the moment I woke up from that convenient dream.
Director: Did you come here to get beaten again!? You... you bloody monster——!!
(That’s right...)
(The cat had actually died.)
(And I... I couldn’t bear such a thing.)
(Just to run away from the suffering, to somewhere less painful...)
(I had made myself think that the cat had never died in the first place.)
Even though I wished that it would remember me, even when I died, because I loved it,
I also chose to forget about its death for my own sake, however heartless that may have been.
Besides that, I had also heard at some church sermon that ‘love was not meant to be given while seeking something in return.’
In the end, in order to forget all the pain and suffering, I may have only pretended to love.
After all, I had used that cat’s life as I found convenient before throwing it away...
...so how was I any different from the people at the orphanage, who would use others for their own gain before throwing them out?
I had no memory thereafter of where I walked,
just that when I had come to, I found that I had left the orphanage, and I was wandering around the night streets of London.
(If only I hadn’t returned to check on the cat... I could still believe ‘it’s still living, and it still remembers me.’)
(And then I could still stay as the me ‘who could love the cat.’)
(I would have rather just stayed mad...)
(If I didn’t find out what actually happened... if only...)
If you find reality to be unpleasant, you need only seek out an escape.
But if I couldn’t even escape from it anymore——
What other choice did I have but to fall into madness?
—— End flashback ——
Now that I thought back on it, perhaps it was at that moment I had given up on any idea of living in earnest and any prospects of wishing for that so-called happiness.
And as I wandered the streets of the city at night on a whim, I found myself showing the people I met the momentary dream they wished to see.
After all, in order to live in this world that knew no kindness, a place one could escape to was needed.
To those who gathered around me, I figured this hand that could cast a convenient illusion on them was that very place.
(Just what am I doing all of this for?)
(Maybe I thought at one point... I could feel like some savior, who used his Cursed ability to show a sweet dream to those with a weaker will?)
Whenever I would plaster a smile on my face, spouting things like ‘let’s forget about reality and indulge ourselves’ while touching the backs of their necks, I would hear my own cold voice.
I was positively fed up with the me who would cling onto a fake love, who saw no hope in change for the better.
(But, well... I couldn’t care less anymore.)
If I was going to just up and disappear from this world, forgotten by all in the end...
Just like a single piece of candy, wouldn’t it be alright to wrap myself in a sweet dream for as long as I was living?
And then, if I could, I wanted to disappear from this world without leaving even the smallest trace of myself in anyone’s heart.
After all, the more clear any trace I left behind became, the more that would leave behind an open hole in the heart that could never be filled.
Alfons: ...I think I’ve had just about enough of this blasted sob story.
—— Kate’s POV ——
(“To die without leaving his mark on anyone’s memories”——such was Alfons’ tragic fate.)
I had always felt a sense of fear as I listened to Roger’s story of the past.
It was as though a black darkness that would swallow everything in its path whole was creeping up toward me.
(When Alfons dies... at that moment...)
(The members of Crown, the friends Alfons would play with, the people in the slums, me, anyone and everyone...)
(...will all end up forgetting about him.)
His name, what he looked like, the scent he gave off... and the fact he even existed in this world altogether.
Roger: ...Among the testimonies of people who’ve experienced this unnatural memory loss,
R: there was an account of having always felt like in their heart that they couldn’t remember something very dear.
R: And when they had a sudden urge to go into the ‘empty room’ in the house, they said they shed tears the moment they entered the room.
Kate: ...!
Roger: If I had to guess, that person had been close with one of the bearers of the ‘Curse of the Mirror.’
(When I had first met Alfons, I was more than fine with forgetting all about him...)
But now, at this point, just imagining how each of the memories borne between the two of us could fall from my fingertips and scatter on the ground,
I felt a pain I could hardly bear.
Just then, I was reminded of——
[1] The blue mallow tea
[2] The pie-throwing festival (+4 / +4)
[3] The fact we had drank together
The pie-throwing festival.
(I had thought he was going to take me somewhere shady,)
(but it would have never crossed my mind that we would end up participating in this odd festival that was held in the park.)
(When I had talked with Alfons, when we laughed together, and even when we touched each other in that way...)
If he were to die, I would no longer be able to remember any of it.
(Is that why...?)
(So that’s why Alfons——would never step deep into anyone’s life. Nor would he let anyone into his.)
He never sought anything more than a fleeting relationship.
And he would never connect with any person or place.
It was all because if he had made himself at home by someone’s side, or in their heart, then someday——
That would be left behind as nothing but a blank space, with no way to remember what had filled it with color in the first place.
Even if I asked Alfons himself, I would think he would simply laugh it off and say something along the lines of ‘well, if that is what you think, then perhaps that may be so.’
But, thinking about that, I felt his speech and mannerisms had some coherency.
Kate: ...So, about his fate...
K: Is it really possible to change it?
Roger: I know as well as you do. That’s well beyond me.
R: All that’s still being researched.
(Roger was saying that he had been researching this ever since before he had met Alfons.)
Kate: ...And how long has it been that way?
Roger: ——From the time I was a five year old kid, up until today.
(Wow, that is a long time...)
Even while under Her Majesty the Queen, a place that perhaps had the most documents related to the Cursed ones,
Roger, who was also a Cursed one himself,
didn’t know of a way to escape from their tragic fates.
That truth seemed to weigh deeply on my chest.
Kate: ...Thank you, for telling me all this.
Roger: Well, it’s not as though I intend to go back empty-handed.
Kate: Huh? ...wah—
With one hand, he pulled my waist toward him, his lips at my ear.
Roger: With this, you owe me one.
Then when he subsequently kissed the lobe of my ear, I pushed back against Roger’s chest on instinct.
Kate: W-what do you think you’re doing...!
Roger: I brought you medicine to help with a hangover, didn’t I? You can just consider this payment for that.
R: Well then, catch you around, lil lady. And take care of yourself.
With a shrewd smile, he left the room, leaving me alone once again.
Kate: Alfons’ tragic fate...
He was just like an illusion whose surface I could only graze my fingertips upon, and I couldn’t help but wonder if he would fade away from my heart like an actual illusion?
He had no desire to live, and so perhaps he wouldn’t mind if such a day came around tomorrow.
And at that time——would the feelings I had for him fade away as well?
(...I would hate that.)
I should have been searching for a way to bury this love to the grave.
But, no matter how much anguish this heart of love inflicted on me, I didn’t ever want to forget.
I wanted to hold onto these feelings close to my heart forever——even now, I found myself deeply wishing for that.
(I don’t want these feelings to become an illusion.)
——Around the same time, in the corner of the castle, the gears of a certain plot had begun to move.
Surrounding an elderly gentleman donning a blue ring were the other members of the parliament, their faces seeming nervous as they spoke in low voices.
Parliamentary member Goa: ...Have those insolent twats who put out the fire of purification not been caught yet?
to be continued…

Fated Mates 3
Ao’nung x Fem! Human Reader
Warnings ⚠️ : No full on sex in this chapter (just a sliver of a flashback for you thirsty ahh ppl), very angsty chapter, long asf. Birth scenes kinda explicit stuff.
As always, English is stricken through.
I do wanna let y’all know idk what the family name for Ao’nung and Tsireya are so I had to make one up.
For Neytiri its the Neytiri Te Tskaha Moat’ite; for her children it’s Lo’ak Te Suli Tsyeyk’itan.
So for Ao’nung it’ll be Ao’nung Te Tswa’ìn Tonowar’itan. “Swahh-een”. I also decided to drop the I from Tonowari’s name since the word for ‘son’ starts with an i and if that shit happens in spanish we change the whole word so I’m trynna make it an easy read.
So it’s just “Tonowar’itan” (toh-no-war’ itan)

I’d been at a loss for words as I stood in the water with a heavy feeling in my chest as I’d clearly made Ao’nung upset, but what pissed me off was how he was talking to me like I was a child who didn’t know anything. We’d been paired up together by his father so he could teach me how to fish, but I’d apparently been casting the net too early, alarming the fish and making them swim away. We’d have to stand still for a while before they felt safe enough to return and we’d start the process all over again.
“How is it my fault!” I yelled angrily, scaring away more of the fish that had felt it safe to swim back. I’d let him finish talking before I began because I knew it would give him another reason to be upset with me.
“I’d already told you to back off on casting the net, but you turn around and do it either way!” He yells back, his frustration is clear as the skin of his brows are furrowed as he yells at me.
“Well maybe you suck at teaching!” I returned his sass back to him, feeling it was unfair how he yelled at me. He knew I was strongest with weaving, singing, and dancing, I was starting to learn a little healing with Tsireya, but physical labor wasn’t for me.
“I don’t, you just suck at listening. And you’re too loud! Those feet of yours have never learned to be quiet, you keep splashing around and scaring these fish back to the other clans!”
“The loudest and most obnoxious thing right now is your voice!” I’d stated with a huff as I turned to pull my body up on the walkway to get away from this conversation, already turned around before hearing him speak again.
“And you think running away is going to help you learn?” He asks angrily while crossing his arms across his chest.
“No,” My voice trembled and I hated myself for it but I turned to face him with tears slipping out of my eyes after being humiliated by his words. “But at least I won’t be yelled at for not understanding.” I admitted and through the cloudiness of my tears could see his face shift, seeing Tonowari coming up behind him.
“Yawne-“ He starts but I shake my head and walk off, not bothering to listen to any explanation he had begun rehearsing in his head.
I’d managed to make my way toward my family’s marui and step inside, allowing myself to be welcomed into a hug by my adoptive mother as I cried in her arms, Jake coming next to us as he placed a hand on the small of my back, poor Tuk was sick today and was sleeping at this moment.
“It’s okay, kid, we’ve got you.” Jake reassures me as Neytiri pets my hair gently. If I couldn’t tell them about Ao’nung I don’t think I could ever tell them why I had been crying so I waited for my tears to stop coming and I’d calmed down a bit.
“Whats going on?” He asks and I take in a big breath.
“If I tell you, do you promise you won’t hate me again?” I asked not looking at any one of them specifically but I’m sure by the way Neytiri had stopped petting my hair that she knew I was talking to her.
“What is troubling you?” She asks as she starts petting my hair again.
“I feel guilty for keeping this from you, but I have to tell you whats been going on.” I admit and Jake lightly rubs the small of my back to urge me to continue.
So I tell them from the beginning about a month and a half ago when I’d been swept away from the current and how Ao’nung saved me but wasn’t aware of the sex pollen in the cave. I’d told them about our attempts to hide our relationship from the group and how Tsireya had noticed, becoming upset that her brother hadn’t confided in her, and how we finally introduced myself as his girlfriend. Then how Spider had become nosey and Ao’nung telling me we’d have to tell our friend group. How the two of us had this petty fight over fishing and how inadequate I felt with learning this new skill. Ending with the inner turmoil I’d felt myself fighting because I couldn’t tell them when in reality I just didn’t want Ronal to find out because I didn’t want a repeat with what happened with Neytiri when she found out.
“You think we haven’t noticed?” Jake asks with a small scoff.
“Y/n, you smell of him quite often.” Neytiri comments while continuing to caress my hair but I jump and look at them, the two were smiling gently.
“You- you aren’t mad at me?” I asked in a small voice, feeling like I deserved to be called out for moving on too quick, or for moving on at all? Mo’at has remained single this entire time and although I’m certain they don’t allow themselves to be mated to another and mourn their entire lives, she had been mated, Neteyam and I had not.
“Why would we be mad at you?” Jake asks but I’m focused on the beautiful omaticaya woman before me, wondering if she’d start yelling at some point, or capture her slip from the calmness she was portraying.
“Because- Neteyam,” I stated as if it were obvious and Neytiri’s face softened.
“Y/n, what I had done before was-“ She pauses as she speaks and looks like she’s trying to find the right words to say.
“I was wrong for what I had said and ma’itan had shown me that in the way he loved you, I have never truly apologized to you but I hope you can forgive me for how I had acted after finding out. I prided myself in having a son who would take over once Jake and I were no longer alive, wanting him to take over with a tsahik of his own and blinded myself in the perfect fantasy I built in my head, forgetting that Neteyam was his own person and had his own feelings.” She stated while looking back up at me, hand outstretched to place my cheek in as she continues holding eye contact.
“I am very well aware of how much you loved Neteyam, you would often look for him and the way it seemed that all of the weight left your shoulders when you found him was proof enough for me. The way you comforted him whenever he’d had an uneventful day or an unsuccessful hunt were the many ways that proved me wrong.” She tucks a piece of my hair that had suddenly fallen loose right behind my ear.
“You, too, are your own person with your own feelings. You are allowed to move on from this and feel love for another. Your life is not as long as ours is, therefore the part where you move on to enjoy life has to be celebrated as well. And I want you to know you have our full support.”
“Neytiri-“ My tears were blinding my vision and I’d started crying for the second time today as she embraces me with her arms, and I could feel warmth spreading all over.
“We want you to be happy, kid, no matter who thats with.” Jake stated as I feel him joining in on the hug and I let out some light hearted laughter at his words.
“When Ronal finds out- and she will eventually- you shouldn’t let her words get to you. She might have choice words to say as this is something new for her, but Ao’nung said he doesn’t care what his mother says, and thats exactly what Neteyam said to me. He will stick by your side and this little argument between the two of you is not the end and I doubt his mothers words will end your relationship, okay?” He reassures me and I nod into his shoulder.
“Atta girl,” He says happily and we all disband from our hug.
“Now if you could help us by watching Tuk while we go do- something, you would be helping us tremendously!” Jake places an enthusiastic smile and two thumbs up as he states that and I could only roll my eyes in fake disgust.
“For being my adoptive parents you guys are gross,” I joke but shoo them away with my hand.
“Go have your adult fun times but please do not make another child!” I whisper-yelled at them and can hear Jake’s chuckle before it stops abruptly after Neytiri had hit the back of his head.
“Don’t rush home either, Tuktuk usually doesn’t need much when she’s sick and likes to rest. I’ll just weave to keep myself busy, I’ll get her some fruit in a bit so she has something in her stomach.” I reassure the two as they thank me before leaving. I once again roll my eyes after they’d left and I could hear their little laughs, finding myself laughing lightly in the marui to myself.
“Well sleeping beauty,” I looked over at Tuk’s form as she slept peacefully. “It's just you and I.” I smile softly, walking over toward where Neytiri kept her yarn and began weaving a blanket.
_________
“That was quite the screaming match.”
I hadn’t bothered reacting to my father’s voice as he came up behind me, but turned to look at him with an unamused face, not really caring how rude it seemed to stare at him in that way.
“I’m sorry for causing a scene.” I apologized to him out of habit.
“No, ma’itan, I’m not the person you owe an apology to. You owe it to your mate.” He stated simply and I nod along to what he had said.
“I just want her to be-“ I stopped myself from continuing as my eyes move to face him, my face unmoved, I’d absentmindedly agreed to what he had said and started an explanation like nothing. I could tell he was hiding a smile but I wanted to scream- the biggest secret I had been hiding and he sniffed it out after an argument? How was I going to continue hiding this now.
“How?” I asked him, I knew he would understand why I had asked that, and awaited his answer.
“You do not think I know you?” He asks with a smirk on his lips. “You disappear from one task and not long after she is headed off in the same direction. I believed my mind was playing tricks on me until I caught your smell lingering with hers. No matter how much you two act like you cannot stand the other, you’re letting the act slip the longer you spend time together.” He says as I wince a bit at having been discovered.
“Is it that obvious?” I asked him while looking away in embarrassment, feeling his hand snake around my shoulders giving me a comforting squeeze.
“No, to everyone else you guys argue a lot, to the trained eye, it’s starting to become obvious. How did this start?” He asks and I can feel a blush building on my face, was this something I really wanted him to know?
“If you want my honesty, I’ll need you to pretend you aren’t ma’sempul for the moment.” I stated and he nods, taking his hand from my shoulder and placing it in his other hand.
“It started when she was swept by the current underwater.” I admit to him.
“That far back?” He asks in shock, it had been quite a while looking back at it but it also felt like this had just happened. I only look at him with an annoyed expression after he’d cut me off and he raises his hands in defense.
“Well two weeks before that I visited Neteyam in the spirit tree,” I rubbed the back of my neck as I tell him. “-without a diving partner, and he told me that he had chosen her as my mate because Eywa said I had a temper-“
And with that he chuckles as if he had agreed with that statement, I turn to glare at him once again and he holds his hands up in defense once more. Letting a small apology out as he looks back down to the water and urging me to continue.
“I took her to my thinking cave, the one with the white lilies, I swear I didn’t know the flowers were in bloom, she’d ended up getting some of the pollen on her hand and she wiped it on her leg, but later used that same hand to rub her face. I had no idea it affected tawtute the same way it does for us, but one thing lead to another and we mated without tsaheylu.”
“According to JakeSully, tawtute mating doesn’t need tsaheylu, according to her and her people, you have already bonded with her.” He stated wisely and I raise a brow at his words.
“Does he share with you from when he was tawtute?” I asked out of curiosity and he grunts, confirming what I asked.
“Some times I ask him as I get curious about his life before he became a Na’Vi. Especially after catching her smell on you the day after the union ceremony.”
“It must have been the blanket I’d given her to use to warm up in the cool night air, she had mentioned that tawtute are sensitive to temperatures and I wanted her to be comfortable for when she was introduced to Tsireya as mine.”
“You should apologize to her with a kind gesture, a gift.” He says and it catches me off guard.
“What kind of gift? I do not know what she prefers jewelry wise and am only able to make armbands, I doubt she’d need a spear-“ I started rambling off as he chuckles.
“Whatever you decide to make, use it to apologize to her, okay? I’ll tell the others you weren’t feeling well since you’ll be a little too busy to go on this hunt with us.” He cuts me off with a smile and I can only nod at his answer.
“I want you to know something, Ao, you will have many fights like these. Some will be easier to apologize than others. Some of them you will be wrong and some of them you will be correct- but apologize either way, even if you are correct. I can guarantee her own apology will follow after even if she was right.”
“Is that what you do when you and sa’nok argue?” I raised a brow and smile widely, not needing to hear his response.
“We are still together after many rotations, are we not?” He asks smugly and I let out a laugh.
“With that being said, women also like it when other people tell their mate they were in the wrong. In this case you wanted to teach her to fish, but you let your temper get in the way. You were in the wrong, itan, you must go make this right.”
“I see,” I nodded at him just as his right-hand-man shows up to ask about the hunting they’re supposed to be starting. My father tells him to gather anybody willing to participate and turns to me once he leaves.
“Make her an armband, she doesn’t wear much jewelry and I don’t think she’s the kind of girl to wear much. I will see you when I get home, okay?” He asks and I nod, turning to head over to our Marui to fix up a quick armband.
I’d managed to find the right materials but struggled to find the correct colored rocks and shells. There had only been one other time that I had asked her what her favorite color was and the answer had honestly shocked me. But I knew I had to incorporate it in the armband I was making and felt giddy once I stumbled upon the colors I needed.
~~~~~
“So what’s your favorite color?” I asked her as I slowly thrust into her, watching her greedy cunt swallowing me whole, whimpering at the sight and feeling.
“Is th-this really the time?” She struggles to think of her words stuttering badly.
“Yes yawne, I’ll let you come if you answer.” I tried keeping my composure but failing to do so with how well she took me, I was on the edge myself.
“It’s you,” she responds and meets my thrust halfway with the loudest moan ever, her eyes shutting at the pleasure.
“What?” I mutter and continue focusing on her face.
“You’re my favorite color-“ She sucks in a big breath. “Can I come now?” She asks as she holds her own hips back.
“Yes tìyawn, come-“
~~~~~
I’d decided on taking my time making my way toward her family’s marui so I could rehearse my apology. I didn’t want to leave anything out of it and wanted to make sure she still felt loved all around. I see half the curtain hanging over the entryway, most of the marui was darker and cooled down, while the other half was folded open to allow air flow into the room and prevent it from getting stuffy.
I can see Y/n sitting behind little Tuk as she took the poor girls braids out one by one. The poor forest girl looked like she had been tired and barely had any energy. She had been taking slow bites of fruit as Y/n finished off the last couple of braids.
“Hello,” Tuk stated with minimal effort and energy, she’d definitely just woken up from a nap, but her voice was raspier. Y/n’s head moves to the doorway and she thins her lips.
“Tuk Tuk, I’m going to step out for a second but I’ll be right there, call me if you need anything okay?” She reassures the younger Na’Vi and it makes my heart swell with pride at how sweet she is to the children, she steps closer toward the entrance and I move back to allow her the space she needs.
“Have you come to finish yelling at me for my fishing?” She asks in a calmer tone than the one she had earlier but she has crossed her arms over her chest and her eyes weren’t even meeting mine. I felt saddened by that.
“No Yawne, I came to apologize,” I spoke softly and although I’m nervous of her reaction I pull the armband out to show her. “I made you something,” I stated with a bit of a waver, she turns her face to look at what I had in my hand, her eyebrows had previously been furrowed in anger but the pop up after seeing the gift, her eyes finally sliding up to meet mine.
“Y-you made that f-for me?” She asks a voice barely above a whisper and she looks back down at it as she smiles. “It’s my favorite shade of you,”
“Would you like to wear it?” I asked her and she looks back up to meet my eyes, her bottom lip tugged between her teeth as she nods, giving me her hand so I can slide it on.
“This is my way of saying I’m sorry for yelling at you earlier. I might not be a great teacher like I believed I was and I hate that I made you upset, I don’t like it when I’m the reason you cry, Tìyawn.” I’d held on to her one hand with both of mine as I apologized, feeling comfort in touching her in any way possible, taking note of how perfect the armband had fit her.
“It doesn’t excuse my own behavior but I didn’t like being yelled at as if I were a child, I already know I don’t know how to fish, or cast the stupid net, but I expected you to communicate with me on how to do it correctly. But I am sorry for raising my voice at you.” She stated tenderly and I couldn’t help but cup her cheek with my hand.
“You are not in the wrong here, it was me, and I hope you can accept my apology, little one.”
“Of course I do, Ao’nung, nga yawne lu oer.” She stated all of a sudden and I could only squat on my toes just to crash my lips onto hers right after she said that.
“Nga yawne lu oer,” I replied back toward her.
__________
“I now see why you continue running off, it’s a shame this is where you hide.”
We both turned our heads in unison toward the person who had spoken, standing before us and I knew we’d been caught. This was the person I had least expected to catch us, the very same person I’d been avoiding and desperately praying to Eywa so she wouldn’t catch us. A few feet in front of us stood his mother, who happened to be glaring directly at me, not once sparing a glance toward Ao’nung, and I would be lying if I hadn’t just felt my knee’s buckle.
“Unbelievable.” The disgust is very evident, dripping entirely within that word.
Instinctively I push against Ao’nungs chest to put as much distance between us as possible, trying to hide whatever embrace we’d had, although I knew she had seen it already. I felt empty right after feeling his warmth leaving me and I had to look down to stop myself from freaking out.
“I was worried about you after seeing you run into our marui but wanted to give you space to collect your thoughts. And when I had decided you might have had enough time sulking on your own, I head to our marui, only to see you making your way here.” She stated as the tone of disappointment stays in her voice.
“You followed me?” Ao’nung asks even though she had just stated that.
“I wanted to make sure you weren’t going to do anything stupid, only to find myself proven wrong.” She yells angrily and I flinch at the pitch she uses.
“Ronal, please-“ I begin pleading but am unsure where my words were going, but am also somewhat thankful for the hiss that cuts me off.
“Silence.” She continues glaring at me and my immediate response is to look down, maybe if I don’t look into her eyes, I won’t feel threatened, but that theory is tossed out the window.
“Have you mated with this vrrtep?” She pointed at me, a disgusted look settling on her features as I peek up and see her looking at her son, waiting for his answer.
“What if I did?” He asked too nonchalant for my liking. His body hadn’t been trying to face away from hers like mine was. I shouldn’t have been surprised since he has dealt with her more than I have, but she was a scary woman.
“She is a disgrace to every suitor you’ve had. She doesn’t stand near any of them. Why would you want someone you cannot bond with, ma’itan?” She asks with genuine concern for him.
“You are right, she doesn’t stand near them,” He stated and I felt my blood run cold. I looked up at him with pure sadness, had he resented me this entire time?
“She’s more than they will ever be. She has single handedly tamed my anger with her kindness. She has taught me how to be careful with someone else and being aware of my words and how much they could hurt another person. She has a strong heart, she is worth it to me.”
“You do not realize the implications of these words ma’itan. If you decide to mate with her before Eywa you’ll be stripped of your status.”
“No!” I yelled immediately as my eyes widened. Ronal smirked at my outburst and laughed a bit.
“You see, she only wants you for your status.” She states as if it was the clearest thing.
“I can’t allow that. It’s all you’ve wanted since you were young, I can’t let you lose your status over this-“ I stated as if I was pleading him, but this is exactly what I needed to do.
“You are confused, ma’itan, you do not even know what you mean to that vrrtep!” She exclaims and I feel as if it was another blow to the chest. This was exactly everything I wanted to avoid.
“Sa’nok-“ He begins before she starts once more.
“Do you not see how this vrrtep has corrupted you? I told your father to not allow them in even if they were trusted by JakeSully, I knew they would eventually mess something up, it was a matter of how. Come to me, ma’itan, we need to cleanse you.”
“Choose someone else.” I stated in a clear and steady voice. Although my heart felt itself break. I could only feel Ao’nung grasp my shoulders gently.
“No.”
“Please, let me go, choose another. You’ll still have the life you wanted-“ I felt the tears blur my vision so I turned around to stop looking at him.
“Not if I don’t have you in it.”
“I’m not worth it, choose someone else-“
“I’m not leaving you, little one, I’ve said that multiple times.” He tries reassuring me as my tears slide down my cheeks, how was I going to stop them.
“So you can be wise,” Ronal hums at my words as I was trying to get him to leave me.
“No, I only want you, I only see you, I only love you.” He stated as he forcefully turns me around. Tears continuously sliding down my face.
“I can’t bond with you-“
“I don’t care about that, little one, we bond in different ways.” He holds my face with one hand gently.
“I’ll die too fast anyway, we can’t have kids. She’s right, this is only a fantasy that’ll never work. I’ve done this once before and didn’t learn the first time.” These reasons were resurfacing from Neytiri’s previous conversation within me when she’d found out those years ago, reasons to why I was not fit for her son, reasons I am not fit to be with Ao’nung.
“Neteyam told me different, ma’tìyawn, he told me he Eywa needed his help in choosing a mate for me and he chose you as my mate, Eywa agrees with his decision. He told me we can have children of our own and told me your age will slow down with mine after completing our mating.” He explains in a gentle manner.
But the way he’d stated that with ease, he had never told me about that previous to today, and I could feel my head dizzying at his words, when the hell had he been told about this?
“When, when did he tell you?” I asked because I just had to know. He remains silence but face fallen into a wince as if he’d meant to either keep that a secret or expect his words to change my opinion without problem.
“When the fuck did he tell you this?” I asked in a harsher tone after his silence.
“Two weeks before we went to the spirit tree, but I-“
“That was two months ago and you’re only telling me this now?” I pulled myself away by pushing on his chest to let go of me, I knew there was no way I’d hurt him but with the way he backed up as if I had worried me a bit.
“Yawne I-“
“You need to leave.” I stated as I squeezed my eyes shut tightly.
“What?” He asks in disbelief upon hearing my request.
“Leave, go!” I yelled at him and he seems shocked. He looked like he was about to refuse leaving, he held onto hope more than I could, but before voicing his opinion the sound of water suddenly splashing had caught our attention. I turned back to Ronal to see her staring at the space between her feet, a protective hand placed around her swollen abdomen.
“Great mother, why now?” Ronal groans as she protectively places a hand on her swollen belly. Typically when a NaVi’s water breaks you had about thirty minutes or less for when the child arrived, so even if their gestation lasted about a year, their births happened incredibly fast. But with her being Tsahik and going through her labor meant she’d either need the help of the retired Tsahik- who was her deceased mother in law- or the Tsakarem, her daughter.
I glanced over at Ao’nung who was standing with his eyes widened. I could only figure he had never seen his mother in this position and if he had, he was a toddler when Tsireya was born so he didn’t have any experience when it came to these things.
“Agh!” Ronal screams as she holds onto her abdomen.
“Get her into the water-“ I run into the Marui and see Tuk is still awake, half finished with her fruit, I’m sure she’s heard everything that had happened but her face seems unfazed.
“TukTuk, please tell me you’re well enough to go for a swim?” I asked in the most hopeful tone possible and she nods, getting up from her mat, following behind me as I grab a couple things from the marui. I step back out with Tuk behind me and see Ao’nung full on carrying his mother with a worried look in his face.
__________
“Come on Um’ma, let’s get you into the nice cool water, I think you’ll feel better there,” I try reassuring her as I continue to hold her, her weight becoming less as she floats in the water, her groans coming out in short spurts, she’s gritting her teeth and her eyes are looking around.
“What now, Y/n?” I ask as she has Tuk hold the things she was carrying, while she hops down from the walkway onto the stairs and into the water, Tuk carefully handing Y/n everything.
“Let her stand in the water, Tsireya said it helps with tearing, she’ll be on her feet, make sure her lower back is covered.” She instructs and I follow along as I do what she says, my mother sighing in relief, one of her hands grasping mine suddenly and refusing to let go.
“And now?” I ask as she fumbles with her equipment, I can see various towels, a blanket, the knife Neteyam made for her, and a clamp. I’m not entirely sure what these were for but she finally comes over toward me, stepping directly in front of my mother, a hiss ripping through her as soon as she see’s Y/n.
“Hiss all you want but we don’t have much time before your child gets here and Tuk is too sick to get help.” Y/n stated and as I look on over toward where Tuk was, the poor girl had already passed out on the walkway snoozing along and getting her rest.
“If you want I can get another woman from the clan whose given birth before but I doubt they’ll get here by the time your baby is born.” Y/n stated firmly upon looking at my mother before taking a deep breath and going under the water, I could tell she started untying my mothers skirt and I blushed while looking away.
“I dislike how helpful she is, even after I insulted her-“ She manages to grumble between her groans and grunts.
“She is always like this, Um’ma, I love her.” I stated and my mother hisses again. Y/n resurfaces and steps around behind me.
“You’ll need to push her lower back, here, when she starts pushing, it helps relieve pain, or something like that. She’ll squeeze your hand and it’ll hurt you, but remember she’s in more pain than you will be.” She pointed toward her lower back and I could see my mothers tail fidgeting in a similar pattern from when we all hurt ourselves unexpectedly.
“Ronal-“ She steps back around as my mother is hunched over. Her anger from beforehand is gone as she continues breathing.
“You’ll need to spread your legs further,”
“I know how to give birth, child, this is my third- AGH!” She yells gutturally after her half insult, but follows Y/n’s order and spreads her legs further.
“Push when you feel the need to,” She tells my mother just as she’s moaning or groaning, maybe grunting, all at the same time, before looking back at me. “Every time you hear her make that sound, press where I showed.”
“Push Ronal,” She takes a deep breath before going back under and checking for how my mother is doing.
“Please respect her, she’s doing better than I am over here.” I utter just as she starts making that sound again and I push on her back, I could hear the sound lessen as if I was helping relieve pain. She takes a quick break to breathe before pushing again.
“Something feels wrong, it hurts more-“ She gasps.
“Don’t quit, Um’ma, keep pushing.” I encourage her as she starts yelling painfully while pushing.
“What do you see in her,” She catches her breath again as she pushes.
“The same things dad saw in you, shes kind, caring, compassionate, adorable, and willing to put up with me.” I answered as she begins pushing and yelling again, I pushed on her back once more.
“Stop pushing!” Y/n resurfaces suddenly and my mother looks bewildered.
“Why on Eywa’s life would I do that!” My mother hisses.
“He’s coming out feet first, his cord isn’t coming out like it should and I’m scared its wrapped around his neck.” She stated.
“He?” My mother isn’t asking, more as if she were in shock.
“I’m having another itan.” She stated wobbly as her tears cascaded down her face.
“The next contractions will hurt like hell but I need you to try and not push during them, if you do, the constriction will cut off blood flow to the-“
“Ma’tìyawn, you’re rambling in English,” I stated as she looks up immediately with a blush.
“Try not to push when you feel the need to, I know it’ll be hard-“
“The pain is too great for me, I do not want to lose ma’itan,” Her tears fall down more rapidly as she weeps, her hold on my hand getting harder.
“Don’t say that. You are Tsahik of the metkayina, you fought tawtute mounted on a tsurak while heavily pregnant, you have birth twice before, how is this one any different!” Y/n states and I can see a passion in her eyes as she says these things.
“You are admired by many in the clan and you have been standing before other mighty warriors who have given birth telling them that all would be well. Don’t give me that shit, Ronal, you can fucking do this.”
My mother nods as another contraction hits her, she trembles badly and looks down before her face is picked back up by ma’Y/n with both of her hands.
“Don’t fucking quit on me, Ronal.” She stated as my mother starts yelling through her contraction, I push on her back regardless as it dies down.
“Once the shoulders are out you’ll be done, okay?” Y/n states as she takes another deep breath and sinks down below to check on my baby brother.
“That is why I love her, Um’ma,”
“Maybe I was wrong about her-“ She sucks in a big breath and clenches her teeth. Y/n swims closer to her and my mother yells once more.
Just then a bit of blood fills the water where Y/n and my mothers legs are, her hand has let go of mine as she sighs in relief, Y/n popping up without my brother.
“Where is he?” I asked in shock upon not seeing my brother.
“About to take his first breath.”
First breath, the tradition where, when allowed, the baby is supposed to swim upward after being born to take it’s first breath. The first right of passage coming into the clan.
“The cord was only loosely wrapped around his neck, probably because you held back on your pushes, all I did was unwrap it, clamp it, and cut it.” Y/n stated and seconds later he pops up, the physical sound of him taking his breath bringing us relief in that moment.
I couldn’t help but look at my baby brother in awe at the smallest patches of hair on his head, his little nose, his kuru being naked and small, Y/n is quick to pick him up and turn him to place him on my mothers chest. Taking my hand to place it on my brother’s abdomen as I watched him breathe. My mother started crying out of pure joy upon seeing my brother.
“Let us connect these, huh?” She grasped my mother Kuru gently and connected it with my brothers, creating the first bond any child creates- with their Um’ma. She’d gone at some point to bring the blanket to wrap him around in and I couldn’t help but smile at him.
Spending this time with my mother and brand new sibling was a joyous time, but when I’d turned around to see where Y/n had gone my smile falters as she and little Tuk were nowhere to be found.
_________
That goes without saying that once I’d come back into the marui with Tuk- after helping Ronal give birth- her parents had come back and were wondering where we went. I once again had to fill them in on the situation starting from the moment Ao’nung had come to give me my armband and ending with coming back with a still sick Tuk. They were surprised about Neteyam hand picking Ao’nungs mate and they did have questions to which I did not have the answers to.
After helping the Tsahik giving birth, I’d taken it upon myself to stay out of her and her families sights. I knew the words she had spoken when she had caught myself and her son together were spiteful yet truthful. There was no way that my assistance in her birth would change the way she felt about me. And I would say I’ve been doing well, I’ve avoided them for two and a half weeks by this point, but I did have a little help from the Sullys. I’d essentially made myself disappear from their lives.
We made sure to always walk in pairs of three whenever we were out. If they happened to catch Lo’ak, Kiri, Spider, Tuk, Neytiri, or Jake the other person with us would tell me to go the opposite direction or hide somewhere to avoid having to make any contact with them.
While I was in the marui, Tsireya had come wanting to talk to me, but due to Lo’ak loudly stating that he wasn’t sure if I was there, gave me the chance to escape by diving into the water and swimming underneath the marui until she had left in disappointment. I was willing to take any measure I could to avoid them, Ronal had made it clear where she stood with me, so I wanted to make it clear to her that I understood her boundary.
“Theres supposedly a banger going on tonight,” Lo’ak stated as we all huddled into a little family meeting.
“What would you like to do, Y/n?” Spider asks as all eyes turned to me.
“You guys make it seem like they’re actively searching for me, the only time anyone came here was Tsireya a while ago. None of them have asked about me so I’ll just stay here.” I stated while weaving a blanket for Tuk, when she was sick she claimed she felt cold and didn't have a comfortable blanket on her.
I told her that if she could find some yarn she felt comfortable with, I’d take it and make a blanket out of it for her. She’d found the right one two hours after I said that and said she spent the entire two hours hugging yarn from the yarn lady, who had been awkwardly staring at Tuk while assisting her- or so thats the story from her ten year old perspective.
“Would you like one of us here with you?” Jake offers and I laugh.
“You guys should go enjoy the party, as long as you have fun thats all that matters.” I admit.
“We could even take shifts, I can stay for the first part and come get one of the kids to cover for an hour at a time-“
“It’s been fifteen days since Tsireya came here, thats half an Earth month, I will be fine, nobody is coming in here.” I reassure him and he only thins his lips.
“Go have fun, just bring me back something sweet, okay?” I asked and they all seemed to agree.
It did take a bit to get them all to leave but they did take their time leaving little by little. It started off with Jake and Neytiri leaving at the start of the little celebration, Kiri had left with Tuk since the younger one had started to get hungry. I had been left with Lo’ak and Spider, the two most stubborn people ever.
It didn’t help that we were mostly sitting in silence so I suggested we played a game. Spider had smiled happily as he remembered Jake had hidden a deck of Uno somewhere around here. Something about him having brought the game over from home in case the kids were bored.
“You definitely have a draw four, Y/n, don’t lie!” Spider yells angrily and I roll my eyes, placing a reverse card to switch the order we were going in already.
“Hell yeah!” Lo’ak exclaims as he places a wild card of his own, switching the color to red.
“No fair, you know I don’t have any red!” Spider states while continuing to draw, having drawn twelve cards before finally placing a red one down. I place my own red reverse down on the deck and try to hide my laugh.
“Uno,” I call out as I held my last card.
“Not funny.” Spider is already pissed and I knew this would get him to leave soon.
“Draw four!” Lo’ak stated after Spider luckily had to draw two cards before getting a red, but I smirk as I pull the draw four my brother said I had and stack it on top of Lo’ak’s.
“Red.” I stated the color and Spider throws his variety of yellow and green cards down angrily.
“You guys always fuckin cheat, I’m out.” He yells as he stands to walk out of the marui while Lo’ak and I laugh.
“Do you think we were mean to him?” I asked as I gather the cards.
“Nah, we’re the dream team, plus the look on his face was worth it.” He smiles widely while handing me his own cards.
“I’m thinking about heading out and meeting up with ‘Reya, you’re sure you’ll be okay?” He asks and doesn’t even bother getting up. Had the circumstances been different he would have started standing up already, not waiting for an answer as he headed out toward his girlfriend.
“I’ll be fine, Lo, honestly wanna get this blanket done so Tuk stops asking me if its done,” I smile as I take the half finished project I had with a grin.
“She has no patience.” He agrees as he stands up.
“I’m sure the others have forgotten but I’ll bring you back something sweet, kay?” He states.
“Thank you, you’re my favorite brother!”
“I always have been,” He chuckles as he slips out of the marui.
It doesn’t take too long before the curtain ruffles again and I’m surprised at how fast anyone had returned but keep my focus on my project.
“Did you forget some-“ My eyes wander up and see the person I’d least expected standing in the marui, before me stood the teal goddess I used to spend a majority if my time with.
“Y/n!” She yells excitedly in a hushed voice and it pained me to see her excited.
“Tsireya-“ I stated in shock, just staring at her, how is it the one night Jake asks me of I’m certain I could handle being alone that Tsireya pop’s back up right when I least expected it, especially after a while of not seeing her.
“Hi sweets,” She says softly while waving at me from the entrance, my blanket project long forgotten, using my term of endearment for her, on me.
“What are you doing here?” I asked in confusion as Lo’ak had just stepped out to meet with her, how long would it take him to notice she wasn’t out there.
“I came to take you to get ready,” She stated as if it were obvious why she was here, but I was still lost.
“Get ready? For what?” I asked her two questions and I notice she’s looking past me with a smile. I turn and don’t notice anything there and look back at her.
“You’re still wearing it.” She stated and I look back down on my arm and the realization hit, I had completely forgotten about the armband being on my arm as it was comfortable, kind of like it was meant to be there.
“Now come on,” She steps closer taking my hand and I couldn’t help but allow myself to be dragged on by her since I’d missed hanging out with her for two and a half weeks, maybe spending some time with her wouldn’t hurt.
She’d brought me to a waterfall I’d yet to see before and made me wash my hair, I was confused at first but thought this was more of a girls-day type thing. As she had waited for it to dry before braiding it intricately, I’d just sat there and waited for her to finish. Just when she had finished, I turned to look at her as she gasps, holding both hands over her mouth in awe.
“What? Do I look bad in braids?” I joke but she shakes her head.
“You look beautiful,” It wasn’t until now that I could feel some of the beaded accessories she’d placed in my hair.
“We need to head back over,” She states and I could only imagine she meant back in the marui which is why I didn’t mind when she grabbed my arm once more.
“Come on-“ She gently tugs as she runs in front of me.
“Where are we going?” I let out a laugh as I’m essentially out of breath from chasing after her.
“You’ll see, come-“ She tugs me again with an excited smile on her features, one that made me forget my surroundings only because I hadn’t been near her in a while, I truly missed spending time with her.
“You need to walk through,” She states as we stand behind some curtains of some sort but I look at her weirdly.
“Is someone killing me if I step through?” I asked, wondering if her mother was on the other side of the curtain.
“Just step through,” She says with a smile and my curiosity peaks finally stepping through the curtains, being placed on a stage in front of the clan, eyes widening.
“Kaltxì-“ I nervously stated, just to see Ronal stepping up, I look down immediately and try backing up through the curtains again, there was no way I am going to stay here.
“Hey-“ I bump into someone and their hands are on my shoulders, I only turn my head upward and see Ao’nung looking down at me, my brows furrow in confusion and before I could say anything Ronal turns to address the clan.
“We’re gathered as a clan today to celebrate the union of my son, and his mate Y/n.”
“What?” I asked in complete shock and disbelief, but my voice only having been a whisper, nobody hearing me as the cheers of the crowd had grown.
She turns to look at her son, arm stretching out overtop of me, essentially being caged in by two Na’vi bodies. Her hand reaches to what I assume is his cheek.
“A mother will always love her son for their entire lives, but your life is only beginning with her, take care of her and love her more than you have ever loved me, ma’itan.” She speaks gently to him and he squeezes my shoulders gently as she looks down at me, I want to look away but she places her hand on my cheek, the sudden act of affection catching me off guard.
“You have shown me that I was wrong about tawtute. You helped me during a great time of need and I can see how you have loved ma’itan. You are strong and capable of many things that I was too blinded by my own prejudice to see. You are a worthy mate for him. Oel ngati kameie, Y/n.” She stated and placed her finger on her forehead, extending it toward me as she said that.
“Now if you are agreeable to your own union, I would like to speak blessings upon the two of you.” She stated as she awaits my answer.
“You said you didn’t want your son with a vrrtep-“
“I know what I have said and I was wrong. I am hoping you can accept my deepest apologies. When I was giving birth, you helped me even after the nasty things I said to you, you were willing to let ma’itan be happy and keep his status by trying to leave him, you were willing to sacrifice your happiness for his.” She stated with tears welling up in her own eyes. “I am not a perfect mother, but I try to be, and seeing how happy he is when he talks about you proves he follows his heart, just as closely as he follows you.”
“You already know how I feel about you, Yawne,” Ao’nung speaks gently, I crane my neck backward just to catch him looking at me with a sweet smile.
“I missed you so much,” I place my hand on top of his, which remained on my shoulder and I give him a light squeeze.
“I missed you too yawntutsyìp,”
“What do you say?” Ronal asks and I give her a small nod.
And she starts letting the many blessings fall from her tongue. Starting with the growth of the clan by the union we were sharing and blessing each of us separately, that Eywa may use us to assist in her workings as well as blessing us with many children- even though I felt that would never happen.
“And before the clan you must speak your vows. As always, the male will speak first.” She nods toward her son as she steps to the side and he steps from behind me, turning to face me- from what I’d seen during the other ceremony’s I follow his steps and face him, to have him squat on his toes so he is eye level with me, our hands holding each other.
“With these words I present my vows to you, Y/n Y/m/n Socorro, as your faithful mate.” He stated the typical introduction before looking right into my eyes with a small smile as he speaks words from his heart, my eyes tearing up as I try holding my big fat cry-baby tears for nothing since they slide down my cheeks.
“With these words I present my vows to you, Ao’nung Te Tswa’ìn Tonowar’itan, as your faithful mate-“ I start my own vows and for the first time I notice the tears collecting in his eyes as I continue.
“Now you may turn, and let Eywa decide your familial fate.” Tsireya speaks loudly and notice the garment placed before us. The biggest shell catching my eye, it was the color of their ocean and I smile.
“Ready?” He asks while squeezing my hand affectionately.
“Get closer to it so we can step on it at the same time,” He gently pushes the small of my back and I feel nervous, looking back at him as he lifts his leg.
“On three,” He reassures me and I nod. I knew it was wishful thinking but I closed my eyes harshly and slam my foot down on the shell as hard as I can, opening them and turning toward him, not even bothering to look at the pieces.
“Pukap!” Tsireya yells as everyone cheers and my shocked face turns to see the shell having broken into six unequal pieces, I look back at my now husband in shock, he’s smiling excitedly.
“Having four children is a big blessing, tsmuke,” Tsireya says as she waits for us to pick our respective pieces.
_________
Having Kiri, Spider, Lo’ak, and even little Tuk on my side on this day has proven effective. They had mentioned how Y/n was wanting to avoid me and I found it devastating at first but completely understood where she was coming from.
I’d planned this entire thing myself but was honestly thankful to Y/n’s tsmuktu for helping me and allowing this entire thing to happen. I was happy to have the love of my life forever now, officially.
Knowing we’d have four children was unexpected but a blessing nonetheless, but could tell that having children was still something Y/n was not expecting. I could tell she was skeptical but I knew it would happen.
She picks up a piece of the shell that I was eyeing myself and felt saddened by it but accepted it, until she turns and hands it to me. I look at her in surprise as she smiles.
“I figured this was the piece you’d like the most,” She stated shyly and I smile, taking it from her grasp.
“Thank you little one, does this mean I get to pick yours?” I asked her and she blushes before looking down and nodding.
Something of this nature had only been done one other time before- I’d heard the stories many times around the fire pit- my own parents union ended like this, but it was not a story Y/n had heard before, which was what warmed my heart the most, looking up at my father I can see him smiling at my mother with adoration.
“This one,” I pick up a piece thats similar to the shape she often shows me with her hands, a heart is what she calls it.
“It’s perfect,” She smiles as she takes it and I couldn’t resist the urge after she’d said that.
“You’re perfect.”
She blushes and looks away before I use my fingers to bring her chin back up to make her look at me, her face looking adorable, it felt warm underneath my fingers.
Before either of us could say anything, many people joined in on the traditional first song sang after the shell being broken, the garment being thrown around us as everyone joined to happily sing. It doesn’t take long for the song to finish and I have another place in mind where we could be.
“Would you do me the honors of following me?” I ask her and she furrows her tiny brows in confusion but takes the hand I had offered her and we start walking toward the beach.
“Where are we going?” She asks once we’re pretty close to stepping into the water.
“The spirit tree.” I admit as I call an Ilu over, stepping into the water, tugging her arm gently to get her closer to me.
“But first,” I settle her onto the Ilu before sliding on after her, placing my arm protectively over her waist. “We need to talk.” I’d sat her backward so her back was toward the Ilu’s head, as she faced me, my arm gently running across her spine to reassure her that it was nothing bad. “We’ll have to go the long way so we can sty above water, okay?” I state again.
“What is there to talk about?” She asks shyly and tucks her own hair behind her ear while looking at the ocean, eyes hesitant to look back on mine.
“A lot of things, Tìyawn,” I stated as the Ilu moves forward.
“Why would you visit Neteyam?” She asks and I’’m glad she does, I’m surprised she’d managed to get the hint.
“I felt guilty for how I’d spent a majority of the time he was here bullying him and your tsmuktu instead of trying to make friends with everyone. And I was lonely really, having two tawtute join the clan when you hate them was hard, he gave me an escape and we talked about anything and everything.” I share with her.
“Why didn’t you tell me about visiting Neteyam?” She asks.
“I didn’t see it as something I needed to share, but I was wrong on that.
“What did he say to you?” She doesn’t have to specify the night she was talking about and I look down with a soft smile.
“He said Eywa came to him to tell him she had trouble choosing a mate for me, and he said the only person he could think of was Y/n,” I tell her, placing my finger gently on the tip of her nose as she smiles at my action. “I look at him confused because that sounds like a word in your vrrtep language, he laughs and tells me thats your name and I am to use it to address you.” I explain and she nods along.
“He says he has chosen you as my mate because of how sassy you are, but that you were very sweet. He said you were captivating in every way possible.” Her eyes are widened in awe as she listens to the story.
“But you know me, I was stubborn, didn’t want to hear it but continued asking questions about how he knew these things and he finally tells me the two of you were courting. I was surprised, because nobody has ever heard of a union between tawtute and Na’Vi, I didn’t want to hear anymore and broke my connection with the spirit tree.”
“Do you regret it?” She asks in a tiny voice but I’m unsure of what she meant.
“If you mean disconnecting my kuru and swimming away from what he said, yes, if you are asking if I regret being with you, never.”
“Do you think you could do me a favor?” She asks nervously chews on her bottom lip.
“For you I’d do anything, all you have to do is ask.”
“Can you connect to the spirit tree and tell him I said thank you, for everything?” She asks sweetly and I nod.
“It should be me thanking him, little one, but I will tell him anything you want.”
“Can you tell him to visit me in my dreams?” She asks hesitantly and seems as if she regrets saying that.
“I will.” I reassure her just as we exit the retaining wall and turn to go to the spirit tree.
Arriving at the spirit tree had planted a smile on her sweet little face. The illuminated space was beautiful during this time of night and seeing her face lit up was even better.
“Your tahnì!” She states as she looks at my chest, smiling widely, letting her hands slide down my arms.
“I want you to sit up here while I dive, okay?” I state as I take her by the waist, lifting her off the ilu and up onto the magnetic rock walkway she had sat on once before.
“Please be safe,” She expresses concern on her beautiful face and I couldn’t help but kiss her, it had been a while since we did that.
“Just for you,” I reply before dipping my head below the water and heading over toward the petals. Grabbing my braid and looking at the tendrils sliding out of it, looking back up through the water and seeing my love’s little feet in the water, I look back at the petal before connecting my kuru and allowing my mind to calm itself.
~~~~~~
“It’s nice to see you again.”
I wince as his voice has remained the same. He didn’t sound angered one bit, I allowed my nerves to busy themselves as I observed the scenery before me and it comes as a shock that we aren’t in the forest like we usually are.
“We are home, why?” I asked as I turn, looking at the sky, before settling back on him.
“Change of scenery. I was getting bored in the forest.” He states nonchalantly.
“Neteyam, I want to apologize for leaving abruptly when I did-“
“It appears I was right hmm?” He raises his brows in amusement, smiling wide. “She has humbled you.”
He comments and I’m blushing.
“You had it the moment I told you about her.” He smiles and I’m in awe.
“She is everything you said she would be and somehow even more.” I respond and he nods.
“She is your wife now, I take it.” He asks and I can’t stop myself from nodding as a childlike spirit with no real body runs up to him.
“Neteyam, can you-“ The little spirit cuts itself off from talking as it catches a glimpse of me.
“Hello there,” I wave at the adorable white glowing orb, its body mostly glowing so I couldn’t really make out the gender.
“Ma’sempul!” The little spirit flies over to me and tackles me happily bouncing all over my chest.
“I’m afraid you have me confused with someone else, I’m not your-“
“This is the spirit of the first child you are set to have between yourself and Y/n.” Neteyam says as he gently picks the child up and off my chest.
“Those exist here too?” I asked in disbelief as Neteyam nods.
“Yes,” He smiles at me before turning the kid around and pushing them by the shoulders. “It’s not your time to head out into the world yet, but soon, I’ll be back in a second to play with you okay?” He reassures the tiny spirit and I feel my heart ache at the sight of them leaving.
“For obvious reasons I cannot tell you much about them, only that they will definitely be a handful.”
“As long as I have Y/n, I’ll be alright.” I admit and Neteyam nods.
“That is true, how-“ He cuts himself off and I only smile as he tries fitting the words the way he wants.
“How is she?” He asks with genuine curiosity.
“I would love to tell you, but she told me to make sure and tell you to visit her in a dream. Maybe there you can catch up. Maybe destress together, if you catch my drift.” I stated and his eyes widened.
“Think about it, okay? I’ll make sure to tell her to enjoy herself. It’s the least I could do for you.” I smiled at his shocked face.
“Thank you for coming to see me again.” Neteyam stated pleasantly before the little spirit started walking back over. “But my hands are full at the moment so I will see you another time, yeah?” He asks and I nod.
“I’ll visit you again, and thank you for everything Neteyam.”
“You’re welcome, Ao’nung.”
I opened my eyes as soon as I pulled my Kuru from the spirit tree, feeling a sense of relief flooding through me as I’d finished my visit with Neteyam. Kicking my feet as I floated upward closer to the surface to meet my wife.
I’m not one to write notes at the bottom of the story but I didn’t wanna spoil anything up there^^ but I have a question for y’all if you could answer in the comments
Should I include a Neteyam x Y/n dream scapes smut for the next chapter? She won’t get pregnant off of it but I figured I’d ask to see what you guys wanted. And it also doesn’t help that Doja cats “Shine” was playing in my ear and I got to the part where she says “Yeah I’m fucking Mike, Dick was hella mean, slipped in so nice” 😖😫
This is legit the only reason I posted this chapter a lil earlier, just to get y’alls opinion in how the next one should go… the more feedback I get the faster I can start the next one… tysm
This might be a weird request, you don't have to write this okay! But... How about Imperal bad batch ( seperated) and pregnant reader? Hunter turns into the darks side while his wife is pregnant (almost like Anakin and Padme
THIS REQUEST GOT ME LIKE
Ma'am, I will answer any and all requests for a pregnant reader and you know that. I'm sorry for taking so long, but I really wanted to do this one justice 😁
Haunted (Imperial! Hunter x Pregnant!Fem!Reader)
Okay, so most of my Dad Batch shorts mention keeping the baby from the kaminoans and the like, so....what if they couldn't keep the baby from them???
Warnings: labor and delivery, pregnancy (obvi), kidnapping, The Empire sucks, Nala Se is a pain in the shebs, Nobody likes Wilhuff Tarkin. This one is a lot darker than my usual stuff. Dark may be too strong of a word for it, but idk how else to put it.
Notes: what it says on the label. Pregnant reader, female reader. Hunter is manipulated. Protective Hunter, Angst without a happy ending...yet. Dividers by @saradika
"Hold on just a minute more, cyare, we're almost there," Hunter urged. Echo peeked around the corner, signaling for Hunter to freeze. Hunter, holding one of your hands to lead you and wrapping the other around your waist to hold you upright, pulled you against the wall to keep from being seen around the corner. He could hear the slow, meandering gait of a Kaminoan as they walked past the hall, unsuspecting, taking all the time in the world while you struggled not to whimper at the pain in Hunter's arms.
Hunter gently patted your belly, as if that would make everything better.
"You're doing great," He whispered.
"I'm gonna kill you," You growled.
Echo hissed a warning, waving you both forward. The Kaminoan was gone.
Your comm beeped softly, and Hunter snatched it up, trying to get you to move faster when all you could do was waddle.
"Come in, Tech."
"The medical wing has been cleared. Wrecker and Crosshair will stand guard."
"Good. We're two minutes out."
"AHH!" Your knees gave out as a contraction tore through your body, and you almost slipped out of Hunter's arms.
Hunter gently lowered you to the floor to let you catch your breath, "Breathe, sweetheart, just keep breathing," He urged. It was in some stupid holo-article that he had read online, and despite the amount of research he'd put into labor and delivery, that tactic in particular was starting to get super annoying. Breathing was one of the last things on your mind when you had
"Is that one worse than the last few?" Echo asked. He was trying to be gentle, force bless him he was, but his grip on your arm was struggling not to pull you to your feet and drag you to safety.
You looked up at Hunter, and froze. Despite the fact that every single thing he was trying to do at the moment was annoying you to no end, you could see the fear quavering in his eyes.
You all knew that if the Kaminoans found you, as arrogant and self-serving as they were, they would unquestionably seize your child as Kaminoan property, enfolding him (or her) into the sea of identical brothers bred for slaughter. Neither Hunter or his brothers were going to let that happen.
"Osik," Hunter muttered none too softly. You followed his gaze to the floor, where a sticky puddle was forming from your water breaking. Osik was right.
Hunter slipped his arms under your legs and your back and hefted you in the air. He didn't even wait for the all-clear from Echo, he just ran to the med-wing.
"Hunter, I can walk-" but the next contraction stole your breath and proved you wrong. Hunter ran faster, and you could hear Echo struggling to catch up with you. You wrapped your arms around Hunter's neck and prayed.
Wrecker and Crosshair waved you past, sealing the door shut behind you. Only Tech and a single med-droid were in the tiny medical wing they had managed to clear.
"The droid's memory will be wiped the moment we are finished," Tech promised before you could voice your worries. Hunter gently sat you on the table, bracing your feet in the stirrups.
"Her contractions are two minutes and thirty seconds apart," Hunter said. The droid quickly ran a few scans to confirm and Tech handed you a large sheet of paper that hardly counted as a robe.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
You gulped, bracing yourself against another contraction. Whether or not you were ready, your baby was coming.
There was pounding on the door, but you could barely hear their demands of "Open up in there!" over the squalls of your baby.
"It's a boy," Tech said, almost as an afterthought as the droid cut the umbilical cord.
Hunter pressed his lips to your forehead, despite how sweaty and gross you felt. "Good job, cyare," He whispered, "You did so good."
You nodded, unable to think straight. "The baby..." You reached for the child bundled in Tech's arms. Hunter sprung to his feet and took them from Tech as gently as he could, bringing the baby back over to you.
"Oh," You gasped softly, running a finger across their cheek. It was a little sticky, like something that had been dried haphazardly, and their hair was still slick with blood and fluids, but you brushed it out with your fingers, letting the dark curls spring into place as he wriggled with all his newborn strength.
"He looks just like you, Hunter," You whispered.
"The spitting image," Tech had already shut down the droid to wipe its memory circuits, and you took the baby from Hunter, pressing him against your chest.
"Mama's here, Mama's here," You said, kissing the baby over and over.
The pounding on the door had stopped, but there was lots of shouting. Hunter's gaze darted to the door as he heard Wrecker cry out.
"We've got to get you out of here," He said, pulling you to your feet. You stumbled like a newborn fathier colt, leaning against him.
"I-I can't," You gasped. You tried to give him the baby, "You have to take him,"
"I'm not leaving you," He insisted.
"Now is not the time for affectionate stubbornness, Hunter, she's right. You have to get him out of here before-"
There was blasterfire in the hall, and you saw sparks fly as several bolts hit the door. Your son wailed unhappily and you reached for him, only to pull your hand back at the last moment.
"Go!" You begged Hunter, but it was too late.
The door that Tech had painstakingly sealed shut slid open, and eight shock troopers pointed their blasters into the room, aiming for you, Hunter, and the baby.
"Place the infant on the table and step back," Their captain commanded.
"No," Ever the contrarian, Hunter shielded your son from their view.
You hadn't even named him yet.
Just beyond the wall of troopers, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Echo had all been forced to their knees with their hands behind their heads. The bodies of several other Shock Troopers and Kaminoan security troopers were strewn about the hall, dead or alive it was hard to tell, but the Batch wasn't going down without a fight.
Admiral Tarkin stepped into the doorway to take in the damage for himself, but what made your blood run cold was Nala Se standing behind him.
"You will not take my child!" You screamed. stumbling to your feet to stand between your son and the blasters.
"Your child is Kaminoan property," Nala Se said calmly, despite the bodies of her creation littered around her.
"Imperial Property," Tarkin corrected harshly, "Much like your supposed lover and his squad. Lieutenant, you are stripped of your title and imprisoned for your crimes. CT-9901, you are also henceforth removed from your post as Sergeant. You are all under arrest."
"She has just given birth!" Tech finally spoke up, "She will not be going anywhere until she heals! Unless you wish to have her death on your hands?"
You hadn't even named him yet.
Tarkin shrugged, "Dead or alive, it makes no difference." He waved to the troopers who approached with several sets of binder cuffs like the others wore.
"No!" You screamed and leaped at the troopers. You were unable to do more than crash into them, but it gave Hunter a shot at getting through, and that was all you could hope for.
With your son secured to his chest, Hunter dashed out of the room and past the astonished Nala Se and a flabbergasted Tarkin. You smirked to yourself as you slid down to the floor, breathing heavily.
Tech grabbed your arm to steady you, and both of you were grabbed by the troopers
Hunter knew the halls of Kamino like the back of his hand. Once he made it past the original wave, there was little to stop the (former) sergeant of Clone Force Ninety-Nine.
His baby whimpered in his arms, and he hurriedly hushed them.
He'd come back for you later, or maybe his brothers would help you escape, somewhere quiet and peaceful like you'd always talked about after the war. Somewhere you could raise your family in peace.
But for now, he was only worried about doing what you'd said, and that was getting your son to safety.
"It's alright, ad'ika, we're gonna get you out of here," He whispered, pressing his lips against the boy's forehead.
"I'll keep you safe."
Alarms blared to signal his escape, which made it harder to calm the baby, but also simultaneously hid their cries.
Hunter wished that his brothers were with him, but they had all agreed to this. They had all insisted that your child was priority, and they would defend it like one of their Vode, just as they had when you joined them.
Hunter ran faster, on deft feet, always knowing which hall to take in order to avoid a clumsy stampede.
The Marauder was docked in the bay closest to the medwing, Echo needed a checkup after their last mission, but it seemed serendipitous when your contractions started in the early morning. You knew the Kaminoans would see this as openly flaunting your blatant disregard for their authority in their own city. You'd wanted to have your baby anywhere but Tipoca City, but then you'd received orders to return to Kamino with the end of the war.
Hunter grit his teeth, avoiding patrols was keeping him from going as fast as he'd like,and his son's cries were getting more and more agitated. It was a pitiful replacement, but he stuck his finger in the child's mouth to let him suck on it. As soon as he took off, he could give him the formula aboard the Marauder and look him over.
"Most childcare experts agree that there is a distinct possibility that hyperspace travel at such a delicate stage can be detrimental to child's development," Tech's voice echoed in Hunter's mind. But that couldn't be helped right now.
He turned the corner towards the bay, but it was blocked by another squad of Shock Troopers. Before he could think, he drew his blaster.
"Hunter!" You screamed in terror. Hunter's blood ran ice-cold as he spotted you.
You were on your knees, held upright by two troopers, and an Admiral (or someone else who wore one of those gray suits) had a blaster pointed at your head. Tarkin met Hunter's gaze with a smug smile.
"You made a valiant effort in your escape, Sergeant. I can only imagine how much that child means to you."
Hunter shifted the baby, holding him closer. The boy was starting to grow frantic again, now that he didn't have anything to suck on.
"However," Tarkin continued, "Much like yourself, the child is now property of the Galactic Empire. Attempting to steal him is treason."
"If I'm already committing treason, I might as well shoot you here and seal the deal." Hunter focused his aim on Tarkin.
"You could, couldn't you?" Tarkin barked a cold, humorless laugh,
"However, the moment you open fire, Vice Admiral Rampart has orders to shoot at point-blank range."
You shook your head desperately. "Hunter, don't!"
"Hand over the infant, now!" Tarkin said. His lackey in an identical suit pressed the blaster to the base of your throat, cutting off your protest.
"What will it be: the child? Or it's mother?" Tarkin sneered.
It was over. Hunter knew that. Even if he did as you asked, he still wouldn't be able to get past the Shock Troopers. His sons cries were like ringing in his ears as he tossed his blaster to the side.
They took his son from his arms, and all he could say was "Support his head!" as they turned away so that Hunter couldn't even see him anymore, but he listened to his cries as they were dragged in opposite directions.
You and Hunter were brought to what sufficed as the brig in Tipoca City. Tech, Echo, Crosshair, and Wrecker were already there, and they hurried to make room for you to sit on the only bench available. Your legs were shaking terribly, and you were sore all over. The pain medication Tech had given you was starting to wear off. Tech gave you a once-over as best he could without his datapad or any medical gear.
"Most of this recovery takes several months anyway, even without the added stress you've been through," He said, it what must have been an objectively positive observation, but only served to remind you of everything you had just lost.
"Where's the kid?" Crosshair demanded. Hunter couldn't even look him in the eye from the insane guilt he felt at giving up his son. All you could do was cry.
Crosshair cursed and slammed his fist against the wall, though he didn't know what he was expecting from an operation like this. Clone Force 99 had never known failure like this before, it was a foreign feeling to them.
Hunter refused to let himself cry. He had to be strong for his brothers, for you and your son. He had to get you out of there, somehow.
He didn't even know how you could bare to look at him for such a catastrophic failure, but you turned to him and wrapped your arms around his chest, pulling him close to you.
"We...we didn't even get to name him," You whimpered in Hunter's arms.
Hunter's jaw stiffened atop the crown of your head.
"Well, let's name him now."
It felt slightly pathetic, sobbing in a jail cell over a child that had been ripped from your arms, but the idea of naming him felt like a rousing battle cry deep in your soul. The Kaminoans hated the names that the clones gave each other, and despite all the nicknames that they claimed and gave to each other, at the end of the day only their numbers were written on reports and official documentation.
But your son wasn't a clone. He was your son. And he would have a name from birth.
"Asher." You said. Where you came from, the name symbolized hope, of something beautiful and precious being created from the ashes of destruction. Something like your life as a family.
Hunter nodded, gently rubbing circles into your shoulders. "Asher it is."
"CT-9901, you need to come with us."
Ice encased your heart as the shock troopers approached the makeshift cell, deactivating the shield.
"Don't," You begged, looking up at him as your hands dug into his shirt, holding on for dear life.
"I have to," He whispered, working your fingers loose so he could stand.
"She's right," Echo said loudly, standing up.
"Yes, we stay together." Tech stepped between Hunter and the shock trooper.
The trooper did not take kindly to this show of defiance, and drove the butt of his blaster into Tech's stomach. Tech fell to his knees as he gasped in pain, and the others all stood ready to fight, but knowing it was fruitless.
"Enough," Hunter stood, motioning to his brothers to stand down.
"I'll go."
He wasn't cuffed, but there was a blaster muzzle in his back every step of the way. The troopers led him back to the med bay, where several medical droids were still cleaning the room that you had commandeered earlier. The troopers marched him past the room and past a large window where several cadets were going through their checkups. And right in the corner was Asher.
Hunter disregarded the warnings from the Troopers and place his hand against the window, wishing he could catch his son's attention. He was in an incubation box, sound asleep, with monitors strapped to his chest. Hunter was just relieved he wasn't in a growth tube.
"Asher," He murmured as a shock trooper gripped his shoulder, "Your name is Asher."
The troopers all but dragged him to another closed-off room, where Tarkin waited with Nala Se and a datapad. Hunter kept his focus on Tarkin, wondering if the so-called "Admiral" had spent as much time with a hot blaster in his hand than in a comfortable office on Coruscaunt.
"We meet again, Sergeant."
Hunter chuckled, "I thought I wasn't a Sergeant anymore, Admiral."
"I suppose you'd prefer to be called CT-9901, then?"
So the Admiral did know about their chosen names, he just chose not to use them.
"What do you want?" He asked, trying to not let his breathing get the best of him.
"What I need is your cooperation,"
Hunter shrugged, "Sounds simple enough. Just let them go."
He knew it was a fool's dream to think that Tarkin would actually acquiesce to his demands, but he had to try.
"Let my wife, son, and brothers go and I'll do whatever you want."
Tarkin squared his shoulders to challenge Hunter, "Certainly not. That would be a grave mistake on our part. Think of all that we could learn. The Empire has other plans for a force-sensitive child."
Hunter's blood ran cold.
"Oh, you didn't know," Tarkin smiled slyly, and Hunter's hands clenched in an effort to keep from slapping the smirk off his face.
Nala Se handed Tarkin her datapad, "Nala Se's team has performed all the necessary tests and administered the correct vaccinations for your child. A quick blood test showed a count of approximately fifteen-thousand midi-chlorians."
Hunter's throat ran dry, and his ears rang with the sound of his son- Asher's- cries.
"You have a simple choice, Sergeant. Join the Empire freely, stay with your brothers, your partner and your child, or be forced to watch them suffer for your treason."
It wasn't much of a choice, and Hunter knew it. They were offering him the short end of the stick to pull him from the same raging rapids they had tossed him into, but it was either that or drown.
And he would sacrifice everything he was for the chance to protect you and your child.
Post-Script: I know I've used Asher as a name for Crosshair's kid but it fit too well for this AU.
Do not read if you arent into MPREG
This includes a somewhat graphic and unassisted penis birth.
“P-Pregnant?!” He cried at seeing the two lines on his pregnancy test. His wife simply smiled and walked over. “Yeeep.” “But I’m a guy! Wh-Where will it come out of?!” She shrugged, still smiling. “We always wanted this child.” He looked nervous. “b-but i didn’t think it would be me carrying it…” She hugged him. “Everythings going to be alright. I’ll be right here beside you the entire time.”
9 months had passed and she held up her promise. She was there for him through the entire thing. And it was amazing. She was so loving and kind throughout the entire thing. Though, there was one thing she wanted to do. She wanted to watch him push out his own baby by himself, and would only intervene if things went wrong. Of course they would have a midwife, but she wouldnt be in the room. He’d just give birth while she comforted him from the side.
“Huff, huff…” He anxiously waddled around the room, rubbing his swollen belly and his lower back: he was completely naked and his dick was abnormally large and erect. He had been laboring almost the entire day, and was still waiting for his water to break (wherever it would come out of). His wife was sitting on the bed smiled at him and photographing him occasionally. “Oohh…” he bent over the bed, gripping the frame and rocking his hips. He whimpered quietly and whinced as a contraction tore through him. His stomach had never felt so tight. He was so full and anxious to get this baby out. “Breathe.” his wife reminded him. He swallowed nervously and nodded at her, continuing to waddle and labor, until- “GYAH!” and *pop*. A mix of blood and water shot right out of his dick as he nearly collapsed in agony. “AHHH!!” he clutched his stomach and nealt down into a squat. “Sh-shit its coming- NGHH! out of my cock!” His wife perked up. “Interesting.” He screamed as he felt something hard and big slide into his dick, causing his already enlarged penis to become even bigger as a lump tried to pass through. “N-No! No no no I- HNNGHH I CAN’T! IT HURTS!” his wife smiled lovingly at him. “Push, dear. You can do this.” He grunted loudly, bearing down as he tried to move the mass in his member. He opened his eyes to see how mishapen his dick was. It was red and sore, with veins bursting as a watermelon sized lump was trying to squeeze out of him. “Oh fuck!” He cried in horror at the sight of his poor penis. “Augh…” He attempted to stand up and sit at the edge of the bed, lightly touching his penis. His wife watched him intently. “Go on then. Push out your baby.” He nodded at her and grabbed his dick, grunting and bearing down: the mass hardly moved. He felt tears pricking his eyes, his entire body drenched in sweat. He already wanted to give up. “I- I can’t! AUUGH IT WON’T MOVE!” He began to sob, rubbing his stomach and sore penis while moaning. “Cmon darling. You need to get it out one way or another. Push, hard!” He inhaled before pushing again, screaming as the mass finally began to move. He opened his eyes again. The mass was barely in the middle of his penis. “Good job. Push again.” He did so, gasping as the mas was near the tip of his penis. “FUCK ITS C-COMING!” He almost bore down again before his wife stopped him. “Hold on dear, don’t push. Your gonna tear. Breathe.” She cupped her hand over the tip of his cock, causing him to writhe in agony. “No no PLEASE LET ME PUSH! AHH!” The mass continued to move at a slower rate as he cried, trying desperately not to push. “Easy… there we go, its about to crown.” She removed her hand and replaced it with his. He gasped as he saw his babies head peeking through his tip. “Hngh.. A-AHh… Oh…” He lightly pushed and the babies head popped out, blood trickling out of his cock. “Good. Now push. Push out our baby.” He gasped and took both of his hands, cupping the head as he bore down again. “HNGH- AHHHH!” The rest of the body slid right out. “Oh! Oh god…!” He sobbed as hr fell back into the bed, holding their baby. “You did it.” His wife smiled proudly, taking one last picture.
Kloktober 2023 Day 14
Use a fall food or drink
It's not fall where I live so I had to research a little for this prompt! Today's combo is Toki and Pickles because I find their interactions really funny for some reason. Like you can really tell there's a big age gap between them. And they're two of my fave characters, so
Shoutout to @the-loveliest-lotus as well because I also got inspired by this Kloktober drabble! <3
Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Pickles looked proudly at his hard work. Five different drinks were lined neatly on the kitchen counter: Poison Apple Martini, the Grave Digger, the Black Widow Smash, Sleepy Hollow Cocktail and Nightmare on Bourbon Street. And yes, he had done them all himself. He could’ve asked for a Klokateer to prepare them but, eh, he knew better than anyone how he liked his drinks. The anticipation of getting them all ready would only make it more gratifying when he finally got to drink them, too.
And now, he was about to enjoy the fruits of his hard labor. Raising the glass of Martini, he was about to make a toast to himself when Toki stormed into the kitchen and his peace.
“Oh…” Toki seemed surprised to have found him. “Pickle…”
“Toki?” Pickles eyed at the couple of Klokateers coming behind him, carrying grocery bags. “Whut are ya…”
“Um, puts it on de tables.” Toki gestured at the Klokateers. He returned his gaze to Pickles, hands behind his back. After the Klokateers left, he asked. “How ams you, Pickle?”
Pickles was no idiot. He could tell when Toki was hiding something and, maybe most of the time he didn’t care, but he sure cared about it now. He was ruining his drinky drink time. “Whut’s going on, Toki?”
Toki tilted his head to the side, feigning innocence. “W-What you means?” Even from here, Pickles could tell he was nervously twirling his hands.
Summoning patience, Pickles put the glass down. “Y’are up to somethin’.” His eyes narrowed. “Are ya tryin’ to sneak in candy, again?”
There was a dilemma in the light blue eyes, undecided whether to keep pretending or to come out with the truth already. Eventually, he went for the latter. “Ahh, okays, I just wanteds to bake a little desserts for everyones for the beginning of falls!” He hunched over sadly. “‘Twas meants to be a surprises, but oh wells…”
Pickles raised his eyebrows in surprise and then glanced at the bags. Curiosity getting the better of him, he walked to the bags and began inspecting them. There were apples, flour, butter, ginger, sweetener, sugar-free ice cream, some nuts…
“I was gonna makes apple crumbles…” Toki said pitifully.
“Toki, we have most of these already…” Pickles pointed out.
“Oh, we does?” Toki asked, surprise in his features.
“Did ya check the pantry?”
“Um, noes…” Toki averted his gaze like an embarrassed child.
Holding back the urge to roll his eyes, Pickles massaged his temple. He gazed at the five babes waiting for him by the counter, then back to Toki, who was kicking his feet by the door.
Ah, fuck it.
“Alrigh’!” He stood up. “Who wants to get fuckin’ wasted and bake some amazin’ apple crumble?”
Eyes widening, Toki dashed to him. “Reallies?”
“Yea.” Pickles smiled at him.
“Thanks you, Pickle!” Toki hugged him a bit too enthusiastically. Pickles could feel his bones cracking and his lungs on the verge of bursting. Before too long though, he was released. “Wowee!” Toki’s eyes fell on the drinks. “What ams dese?”
“Just some brutal drinks I made…” Pickles explaining, torn between faking humbleness and showing off. He pointed at the martini. “This is Apple Poison-”
“Oh, cools!” Toki grabbed the cocktail glass and began downing it.
“Easy there, Toki!”
Uncaring, Toki kept drinking until it was empty. “So goods…” He licked his lips, slamming the glass against the counter. Immediately, he tried to get another drink, but Pickles put his hand over his.
“Let’s get started with the apple crumble first, okei?” He said, encouragingly.
Toki already had a dopey grin on his face, “Okays!” He accepted and grabbed the two bags of groceries effortlessly to drop the ingredients on the kitchen. Then, he pulled a piece of crumpled paper out of his pocket. “Let’s sees…press heat…press hit…far and highs?”
“Just gimme that.” Pickles snatched the paper off Toki’s hands from across the counter. God, the handwriting was terrible. And so was the grammar. He squinted, wondering if any of the words in it were part of the English language. “Alright, screw this.” He said, tossing the paper to the side. “‘m pretty sure I remember how to do this one. With his left hand, he grabbed his Nightmare on Bourbon Street and took a sip. Making his way to the oven, he turned it on 350°. He took another sip, god damn this shit was good. As the alcohol started soothing his senses, Pickles turned to Toki. “Now, we start peelin’ the apples.” He took half of them and gave the other half to Toki.
“O-Okays.” Clumsily, Toki started imitating what Pickles was doing. A beginner to the art of desserts, no doubt.
“Um…Pickle?” Toki asked after a while.
“Ya want help?”
“Noes…” Toki was clearly struggling, but he kept trying. “Thanks you.”
Pickles raised an eyebrow. “Ya said that already.”
“Wells…yeah, but…um…’ave always wanted to bakes with families…so thank yous.”
“Okei…” Pickles said, trying not to get too emotional about it. He had barely started drinking, for fuck’s sake. “Y’are welcome.”
Toki fidgeted a little. “Pickle?”
“Yea?”
“Can I has another drinks?”
Pickled raised his gaze and saw Toki trying really hard not to smile. “Ya little runt…” He shook his head, amused. “Go ahead, dildo.”
“Yays!” Toki leaned across the counter and grabbed the Grave Digger. While Toki tasted his masterfully made tequila cocktail, Pickles quickly rubbed his right eye.
He had always wanted to bake with someone he cared about, too.
We all Scream sometimes...
********************************************************************
So imagine Sidney finally meets someone after the events of scream three and gets married. She is pregnant with their first child via IVF because... surprise she has a wife. The reader is a very successful ER nurse practitioner, who at one point was an FBI agent working the Ghostface case, and while living in their secluded home enjoying life, they get the most devastating phone call from an old friend, while pregnant Sidney and her now wife (Y/N), Gale, and Dewey are all dragged back into this horrific blood bath and they have to start back at square one. But what happens if Sidney were to go into labor? Who is this new killer or is it an old nemesis returning?
**********************************************************************
It all started as a gorgeous day at your home, you were floating in the pool while your gorgeous pregnant wife sat lounging on one of the chairs, legs propped up and you knew behind those aviator glasses she was dozing off. You slid off the raft and allowed the water to engulf you, "Baby." she didn't respond as you swam over to the side of the inground pool, "Sid, my love?"
Mmm, she slowly looked down at you. "Come here."
"Y/N," she whined, not wanting to get up with her heavy bump.
"Oh, just come here and let me hold you." without protest she swung her legs over and started towards the end of the pool, you swam over until you could touch the ramp and slowly walked up, trying not to disturb the water. She watched as you squeezed the water out of your long curly hair, the swimsuit you were wearing allowing her to admire your body it was a one-piece, it was all black with a low cut V-neck top revealing the skin all the way down to right below your breast with a small area of clear mesh showing off the scar on your stomach with short boy shorts attached, it showed your toned legs and strong arms. She started down the steps the water nipping at her ankles, after making her way over to you she wrapped her arms around your waist leaning into you, kissing your lips, and then leaning on your chest. You wrapped your arms around her shoulders for a while and then you turned her allowing her to press into your back as you wrapped your arms under her bump, she wrapped a hand around your bicep allowing the cool water to soothe her muscles, placing the other hand over yours as you supported her.
"Ugh, I knew there was a reason I married you." She pressed the side of her head into your cheek as you kissed her forehead.
"Oh you mean it's not because I was the gorgeous female FBI agent that basically saved your life."
"Oh well, that too." She chuckled to herself, and you spent hours just relaxing together before the sun started to get too hot and you made your way inside. It had been almost three years since the incident. You had left the bureau and pursued finishing your nursing degree, you married Sidney and moved out into the secluded countryside, you loved living in the city but you knew this made her feel safe and comfortable so as long as you were with her it didn't matter to you. About a year ago you decided you both wanted kids and so you let her carry first, luckily the IVF took after three months, and now you watched as your 7 1/2 month pregnant wife changed out of her bikini into some shorts and one of your old baggy bureau tees. You were pulled away when you heard the phone going off and turned to get the house phone, that's strange you thought to yourself no one has this number except for Gale, Dewey, Randy's sister, and the sheriff's department had it classified just in case, the caller ID showed, unknown id, so you pulled the door propped closed behind you as not to alert your wife.
"Hello?" you asked unsure of who was on the other line.
"Ahh, I believe you're the wife, so nice to finally meet the woman who's made our girl so happy." answered a modulated voice from the other end.
"Who is this? How'd you get this number?" you asked anger seeping into your voice.
"I believe you know who I am. Come on Y/N, I'm the reason you have that lovely scar. I was just wondering if your favorite scary movie has changed." you ran your fingers over the scar on your abdomen.
"Baby?" you heard Sidney call behind you, she wrapped her arms around your waist, and you felt her bump press into your back resting her head between your shoulders.
"I hate scary movies, don't ever call this number again." You angrily hung up the phone, but you leaned forward tears falling down your face as the flashbacks flooded your mind, Sidney running into the room as you lay there bleeding out on the floor, she placed her hands on the laceration applying pressure, watching the blood flow between her fingers. You looked to see her half-brother laying next to you dead, Gale and Dewey ran into the room Gale slid in next to you, taking Dewey's jacket and pressing it under Sidney's hand, as he ran to get help. You could taste the blood in the back of your throat, as everything around you blurred and the last thing you remembered before waking up in the hospital after surgery was Sidney telling you she loved you, that she lost everyone else and you couldn't leave her too.
"Y/N?" she said loosening her arms to look at your face, "Y/N please tell me that wasn't who I think it was." you turned to look at her and she suddenly knew, she started to shut down you knew how much of a toll it took on her out of everyone, she'd lost so many people and now with a baby on the way she couldn't bear losing either of you it would break her.
"We're going to be okay, We're going to be okay. I'm going to need you to call Gale and we're gonna go stay in Woodsboro with them, we can't be alone right now and I'm praying that nothing has happened and he just stole that number from someone." she shook her head and you brushed past her pulling out the wall panel in the closet and grabbing the two duffels out of the hole, you opened you safe grabbing the double shoulder holster and sliding the two guns in grabbing the extra ammo case. You wrapped your arm around Sidney and took her out to the garage grabbing the keys to the Jeep and loading everything in. You turned to see her standing in front of the car, you wrapped your arms around her as she broke down. "Y/N I can't do this again, I can't."
"I know baby I know," you said rubbing circles on her back as she cried into your shoulder, "Sidney, look at me," she leaned back arms still wrapped around each other, "I took a vow to do no harm but before that, I vowed to protect you with my life, so I promise that I will do whatever it takes to stop this psycho once and for all, our baby isn't going to grow up in a world constantly fearing a stupid Halloween costume." you looked into her eyes and kissed her making sure to put all the love and strength you could into it, taking her around and helping her into the passenger seat, you pulled out and 4 hours later arrived at Gale's house.
"Hey, guys." a tired-looking Dewey answered the door, he hugged Sidney first and then you, turning to let you both in after you entered he looked outside and closed the door making sure the bolts were correctly placed, before following you into the kitchen.
"Sid, Y/N, I wish it was under better circumstances." a perky Gale rounded the corner but you could see it in her eyes, the exhaustion, the fear. She hugged you both, and you smiled as Sid followed her into the living room propping up her feet as they both caught up on life, the pregnancy, the marriage. Dewey and Gale got married and not soon after came you and Sid but so far they haven't explored having kids, but they are more than happy to be getting a niece/nephew.
"How's she doing?" Dewey asked opening the fridge and pulling out two waters.
"Honestly, if this is going to happen again I don't know if she can do it, she can't lose any of us, it'll break her forever. I don't know if any of us can do it again and I only went through one killer but four, I can't imagine." he gave the classic Dewey pity look, eyebrows furrowed, as you looked into the living room from the other side of the kitchen island watching the other two women catch up.
"You think He's really back." Dewey asked not wanting to go through it all again.
"I can make a few phone calls but as of right now, I'm not sure what's going to happen, or who it could be. I still have some contacts at the FBI but I can't promise anything."
---One week Later---
One week ago you and Sidney arrived at Gale and Dewey's house and so far three people have turned up dead, going on past evidence it was only a matter of time before he devolved and started his/her spree. you had received a few more phone calls but you and Dewey had tried to field them the best you could you didn't need to stress Sidney out any more than she already was. That was until one afternoon you got a call asking for all four of you to be present.
"Ahh, the original gang is back together, well minus Randy and plus Y/N," the voice laughed to itself, still unidentifiable with the filters.
"Listen here you little..." Gale started and Sidney cut her off.
"What do you want from us?"
"Oh my sweet Sidney, sounding so confident and secure, what happens if your wife the big bad FBI agent were to have somthing happen, from what I hear she took a vow to do no harm and turned in the ole' gun and badge."
"Doesn't mean I still can't put your body in a six-foot grave." you responded before she had the chance to defend herself.
"If I recall Y/N one of my apprentices almost put you in the grave. I wanna know did you see the white light, or did you fall into the dark cold abyss?"
"Go to Hell." You responded venom lacing your voice.
"Oh I almost did but you see Sidney here, she didn't finish the job." You all looked around at each other with puzzled looks. "Oh if you could only see your faces, so puzzled, trying to figure out the voice behind the modulator, the face behind the mask, and the hand around the knife that is going to be plunged into each of you."
"Listen hear creep, I don't know who you are but I will find you and I'm sure my friend the sheriff will turn a blind eye when I do."
"Oh Y/n always so protective of your family, sad you won't have them for much longer, I'm wondering do you want to go first or do you want to watch, maybe I'll let you go first so I can finally see Sidney break." You could hear them sneering on the other end. "Well I hate to break this up but I can't be on too long, meet me at the house that started it all and maybe just maybe you'll survive the night."
You all looked at each other, you saw as they all considered the offer, "You can't be serious, we're gonna give him what he wants!"
Sidney grabbed your bicep from behind, pulling down the arm you were holding in front of you as you looked at Gale and Dewey. "Baby I love you and if you don't want to go I understand but I need this I need to see this guy dead, in the grave." You tuned to her seeing the desperation in her eyes. "I'll be damned if I let my 31-week pregnant wife chase down a serial killer without me, I was a trained agent, and now I'm head of an emergency department, you're going to need me." you all got ready and 30 minutes later your Jeep rolled into the driveway of the Macher house where it all started. The house was still intact as if someone had actually been taking care of it. You all got out and walked up to the door, Dewey pulled out a knife cutting the tape and drew his gun you reached a hand back keeping Sidney behind you she squeezed your hand but never let go, Gale was next to her and you drew your gun, nodding to him he threw open the door and you scanned both entering and scanning the room, Dewey and Gale ran upstairs to check it out and didn't see anything as you scanned downstairs Sid right behind you.
"There's no one here." you heard them call as they came back down the stairs you rounding the corner back into the foyer.
"Well then, I don't wanna be here longer than I have to," Sidney said squeezing the hand you had offered her earlier she leaned into your side letting out an exhausted sigh. You heard the front door quickly slam behind you and Dewey walked over you turned to scan the house before you, Gale standing on the other side of Sidney.
"Y/N?" she buried her face into your side and you could feel her tense, what you couldn't see was the wince on her face.
"I know baby, I know."
"This can't be happening!" Dewey yelled kicking the door behind you, he turned back to face you, and all of the sudden you felt a phone buzzing you shifted to look at Sidney as she pulled her phone out and answered putting it on speaker.
"Well, well, well how does it feel to be home gang? Sorry Y/n unfortunately you were never here but you married into this so I guess that makes it home for you to."
"What do you want?" Sidney asked looking into your eyes, worry filling her features.
"I just wanna know what happens when you back a mama bear into a corner." and you heard the tone of the phone hanging up
Title: The Unseen Bond: Tale of Mei Ling & Li Mei
In a remote hut in the backdrop of 15th century rural China, two women were embarked on the riveting journey of motherhood. Mei Ling, a rosy-cheeked lady with a heart full of dreams, and Li Mei, a woman of grit, were in the throes of labor. Alone, but simultaneously connected through the shared experience of childbirth, the women strained against their individual burdens.
"Ahh urghh!" Mei Ling groaned, her tiny frame barely visible beneath the oversized garment she wore. She gripped the coarse edges of a makeshift wooden stool tightly as she squatted, straining to bring life into the world. Sweat glistened on her flushed face as she puffed and heaved, "Why is it so difficult, Li Mei, for our children to give birth?"
On the other side of the four-cornered hut, Li Mei was standing, pulling a coarse rope attached to a thick ceiling beam, to augment her pushing efforts. Her child was not making it easy either. A part of the baby's head was visible, but the progress was slow and arduous. Yet, she didn’t allow despair to take over her.
"Don't complain Mei Ling, hurry, and push," she responded breathlessly, managing to spare a glance towards Mei Ling, a hint of sympathetic smile traced her labor-strained face, "Look at my child, his head is sticking out a little."
Their bodies tingled with resentment, exhaustion, but alas, nature cared little about human inadequacies. Both the women bore their pain with grim determination and relentless resilience, encouraging each other between gasping breaths. Hours turned into moments, and moments into eternity. The candle flickered like their wavering spirits, but they didn't yield.
Eventually, the night wanes, and the first light of dawn trickled into the hut. Despite the supernal agony, they held onto each other’s presence throughout their challenging ordeal, cautious not to disturb the other’s concentration or cause panic.
Finally, Mei Ling exhaled a shaky breath as her last push bore yield. The first cry of her child curled around the silent corners of the room, erasing the echo of her gruelling screams. Cradling the tiny infant close, relief washed over her. Gazing at Li Mei with extended grace, she barely whispered, "Meet your new friend, Li Mei."
On the other side, a similar scene was unfolding. Li Mei’s exertion was rewarded, and her eyes pooled with an unhindered mixture of joy, exhaustion, and relief. The cries of two newborns had suddenly filled their narrow world. She whispered back to Mei Ling, matching her tone, "And meet yours, Mei Ling."
In those tentative first hours of sunlight, two babies came into the world: a son for Mei Ling, whom she named Huo, meaning 'fire,' and a daughter for Li Mei, to whom she gave the name Yue, signifying 'Moon.' The new mothers murmured hopes, dreams, apologies, and a thousand silent promises to their respective newborns for what they had made them endure in their first hours of existence.
A friendship was formed that day, not just between Mei Ling and Li Mei, but also between Huo and Yue. Two souls had battled adversities together even before learning to breathe. Surely, a bond like that wasn’t going to fade easily.
From that day onwards, the tale of these two women giving birth alone become a part of the village folklore, embodying endurance, resilience and the undying spirit of motherhood. It became a testament to the unnamed bonds that develop when humans endure tribulations together, even if they're alone in their respective battles.
Chapter 15: Suffering For the Lord Is Not an Easy Thing
Summary: In this chapter, Papa and Addy face a frightening moment when an unexpected event puts their unborn child at risk. Despite the fear, they finally receive long-awaited news that brings them some relief and joy amidst the turmoil.
Word Count: 6,500
This chapter talks about the difficulties faced during preterm labor. A few translations to know for this part of the book: Che diavolo = What the hell? Mia Viva = My life Buono a nulla = Good for nothing
The band's tour thus far had been nothing short of a spectacular triumph! Midway into February, Sister Imperator was ecstatic about the way things had been moving along. Addeline had even been permitted to sing three songs now, a big climb from the one she had first started out with.
They had just finished their last song, and they all hurried backstage for a quick break before it was time to head back to the stage for the final three encore songs.
Addeline stood with Cirrus and Swiss just behind the curtain of the stage. They were chatting amongst themselves when Addy felt the urge to go to the bathroom.
“Guys, I’ll be right back,” She said, “I swear I need to pee every 5 minutes.”
They laughed as she disappeared, walking toward the direction of the venue’s bathroom. While walking, Addy felt tremendous pressure in her abdomen. Weird she thought and continued walking. The pressure returned after taking a few more steps—more intense this time. It was painful enough to make her lose her balance and she grabbed her stomach and held the wall for leverage with her free hand. She gasped for a split second and waited for the wave of pain to subside before she began walking again.
She was finally able to make it to the bathroom to relieve herself but once she began walking back towards the show the extreme discomfort returned, “OWW,” she yelled. There was no ignoring it now that something was amiss. She sat down, back against the wall, and began to breathe, “Okay, It’s okay. I’m okay,” she kept repeating in her mind while closing her eyes and practicing breathing.
Lucky for her, she looked up to see Swiss. The ghoul gathered that she had been gone for an unreasonable interval of time for somebody who merely needed to go pee. He stopped walking as soon as he saw her on the floor and in a panic rushed to her side.
“SHIT! Addy? What the fuck is the matter?”
She kept breathing, “I’m fine now,” she said getting up with the ghoul’s help, “I just—OUCH, OW OW,” she cried as she looked into Swiss’s face mask. She squeezed his hand tightly while giving him a look of desperation.
“No, no, no, no,” Swiss continued to say, “It’s too fucking soon. CIRRUS!” he yelled as loud as he could.
He gently brought Addy back down to the floor, “Wait here! Do NOT get up!”
He returned with Cirrus after a few seconds. Cirrus hugged Addy and cradled her like a mother would an upset child, “What’s the matter?” she asked Swiss.
“Ah shit,” he began, “I don’t know. I don’t know. I think she’s having contractions.”
A look of horror shot across the female ghoul’s face, “She can’t! It’s too soon!”
“I’m going to tell Papa,” Swiss was in a panic.
“He’s on stage now,” Cirrus revealed, “Everyone’s back on stage now.”
Addeline interrupted, “No, don’t! I don’t…” she struggled to speak through the agony, “I don’t want to ruin his show.”
“Listen,” Swiss began, “If I don’t fucking tell him and he finds out I knew and didn’t tell him… he’ll fucking rip me apart.”
Cirrus nodded in agreement and against Addy’s protests he ran to tell Papa. He calmly entered onto the stage from the back. The crowd began to cheer.
“Ahh,” Papa said noticing his beloved ghoul, “The rest of the band decided to show up! Now maybe we can get on with it!”
The crowd cheered again. Swiss ignored the uproar and leaned in, to whisper something in Papa’s ear. The secret earned a nod from Papa, and he turned to the crowd.
“Change of plans everyone!” The fans continued to yell excitedly. He could have said anything at that point, and they would have praised him.
“We’re going to try something a bit different tonight. Swiss here is going to sing you a song. Would you like that?”
This won scores of applauses from the audience.
Copia leaned in and said to Swiss, “Keep them entertained.”
The Cardinal ran as if his life depended on it. Sister Imperator noticed this and inquired, “What the hell is going on?”
“It’s Addeline,” he said, still sprinting, “She’s in labor.”
“Labor?” Sister understood that it was not yet time for the baby to make an appearance, “My… Oh my…” she picked up Elizabeth and followed Copia.
They found Addy exactly where Swiss had said. Even with his face painted one could see the look of terror that shot across it when he saw his very pregnant wife being comforted by Cirrus. He fell to the ground as if his legs had broken and scooped her into his arms, “What’s happened?” he asked Cirrus, his voice shaky and on the verge of tears.
“She might be having contractions.”
“It’s not time!” he responded. He was terrified, “My wife is in the hallway going into labor and I have a show to do!”
“Mama,” Elizabeth began to wail, upon seeing her mother in such a state.
“Would you get Eliza out of here?” Copia snapped at Imperator.
Sister understood he was under pressure and silently agreed that the toddler shouldn’t witness such a sight. She began walking back toward her place backstage, “Come, Eliza, honey,” she hugged the girl, “Mama is okay.”
Cirrus encouraged Emeritus to stay at his wife’s side, “Wait with her! I know there is a paramedic somewhere on stand-by for fans in case someone needs medical attention. I’ll find them.”
Papa nodded as he held his wife closer to his chest.
“Papa?”
“Yes, Amore,” he said kissing her forehead.
“I’m scared.”
He looked down on her as she nestled her head in the crook of his neck.
“I’m scared too, but you know what? Everything is going to be okay,” he said, not sure if he believed himself.
Cirrus came back with a group of paramedics who were wheeling a stretcher. Papa stood up with Addy in his arms. One of the men with the stretcher took the girl from him and laid her down gently.
“Papa, you need to get back to the stage.”
He hated himself for having to leave her, “You know I want nothing more than to accompany you, my dear.”
“I know, Papa.”
He was holding her hand, walking along side the stretcher as they wheeled her toward the exit of the venue, “I will come immediately after the show.”
He turned to Cirrus, “Go with her! Text updates to my cell. I will call you after the show and I’ll get there as soon as possible.”
“Of course,” she said to her frontman.
“Do not give me bad news Cirrus.”
“There won’t be any,” she responded.
Papa ran back out on stage. He knew the crowd was cheering but he couldn’t hear them. He felt like he was in a glass bowl with his surroundings being quite foggy and distorted. The first encore song was, “Darkness at the Heart of My Love,” and it reminded him of Addy so much especially since she had been helping with backing vocals. She was called the “pregnant” ghoul by fans—some unaware of who she was pregnant by. He didn’t know how he would get through the song.
He called Swiss over to him, “I’m changing the setlist. We’ll cut three encore songs down to two and replace Respite with Darkness.”
Swiss moved his head up and down signaling that he understood what he’d been told. He discreetly got the message to everyone else, and the show went on without any more incidents.
As soon as the show ended, the Cardinal announced to his crew that he had to go. Swiss drove him to the hospital because he was too upset to drive. He hadn’t received any text messages from Cirrus which scared him since he told her not to text him if the news was bad.
“What if she’s dead? What if the baby is dead?”
“I think that would have warranted a phone call,” Swiss said, trying to get Papa to the hospital quickly but safely.
“I’m going to kill Cirrus! I cannot believe I have not gotten a single message. I’ve texted to her phone a dozen times and nothing.”
“Calm down, Papa. There is no reason to think the worse right now.”
When they arrived at the hospital, Swiss pulled the car up to the front entrance so that the Cardinal could hop out and run inside immediately. He was still wearing his signature rat chewed pants with his blue sequin tapered jacket. He must have looked terrifying walking up to reception in full costume—paint still on his face as well. The young lady behind the desk jumped back, startled at the site of him.
“My wife was brought here within the last hour,” he explained, “She was pregnant and possibly in labor.”
The receptionist must have wondered who on earth would sleep with someone so frightening.
“What’s her name?”
“Addeline Copia, C-O-P-I-A.”
The woman was silent as she looked through the computer. This made the Cardinal very nervous – his anxiety so great he felt as though he were going to throw up.
“Your wife is on the maternity ward. That’s going to be level 4. If you take the elevator up there, you’ll see a nurse’s station. They’ll take you to her.”
“Thank you,” Copia gently tapped on the table and sprinted only to quickly turn back around, “There should be a ghoul coming in here. Can you send him up too?”
The woman looked at him as though he had asked her something ridiculous.
“You can’t miss him!” Copia added, as he proceeded to run off.
He didn’t stop until he got to the elevator doors. He began pushing buttons like a madman as if it were going to get him to his destination more quickly. Ding the machine stopped and the doors slid open. The nurses’ station was directly in front of the elevator. He gave the poor women quite a scare when he hurriedly walked up to them.
Luckily, one of the nurses was a fan, “Papa Emeritus?” she asked, obviously star struck, “Oh my, God! Hi! My name is Katie! I’m a huge fan!” She ran over to where he stood, “I knew you were going to be in town tonight, but I couldn’t get off work and I missed the show and… oh my God, I can’t believe you are standing in front of me right now!”
Any other time Copia would have been happy to speak with a fan. But right now, he needed to find his wife.
“I’m looking for my wife. She came here about an hour ago.”
“I can definitely help you find her. What’s her name?”
“Her name is Addeline. She has black hair, dark eyes and she’s about 7 and a half months pregnant.”
“Yes, I know exactly where she is—”
“—Is she okay?” he abruptly interrupted.
“She’s great!” the woman assured him, “She was having some trouble when she got here but we fixed her right up and now—”
“—the baby?”
Nurse Katie smiled, “The doctor wants to do an ultrasound but right now your baby is just fine.”
He could finally breathe.
“Follow me.”
Katie led him to a room at the end of a short hall. She gave the door a light tap, and slowly opened it, “Hello, Addy! You didn’t tell us you were married to Papa Emeritus the forth!”
“Papa!” Addy sat up slowly, not being able to move too much due to all the monitors she was hooked up to. One detected the baby’s heartbeat while another was measuring contractions. She had an armband on that consistently took her blood pressure and a device on her finger reading her oxygen levels. She also had an IV attached to her arm.
“Mia Viva,” he rushed to her side and kissed her as if she had been resurrected from the grave, “My God, nurse, what is all of this?”
“Just some things we’re using to keep a close eye out on your wife and little one. I’m going to go get the doctor for you guys so she can explain some things to you.”
The woman stood silent for a few seconds before saying, “I know this is very inappropriate, but can I get an autograph—not now, not right this second but just before you leave?”
The Cardinal smiled, “Oh, lovely lady, I will make sure you get an autograph, a selfie and I’ll give you a pair of tickets to any show you are able to travel to.”
The nurse tried to remain professional. She wanted to hug the man so badly. He must have sensed this. He stepped forward and embraced the fan, “Thank you for taking care of the most important thing in my life.”
After the nurse left, Copia turned to Cirrus, “Cazzo! Che diavolo? I could kill you! Why did you not message me?”
“I’m sorry, Papa, but the signal in this hospital is complete shit!”
“Buono a nulla,” the Cardinal continued to curse in Italian.
“Papa,” Addy began, “How did the rest of the show go? Did I ruin it?”
“Don’t you worry about the show, my love.”
Copia turned to Cirrus and asked that she go find Swiss, “Will you both just wait for me out in the hall?”
The ghoul agreed and began to leave just as the doctor walked in. They crossed paths with Cirrus walking out just as a pleasant young woman entered.
“Hello, Addeline, I’m doctor Jenkins. We met a little while ago.”
“I remember,” Addy said, “This is my husband.”
The doctor was quite surprised by Papa’s appearance, just as the nurses had been.
“He’s the frontman for a band in town tonight,” explained Addy.
“I see,” she smiled, “Is that where you were when this happened?”
“Yes,” Copia said. “It happened so suddenly. I’m still not sure what is going on.”
“Well, I can bring you up to speed,” Doctor Jenkins was very friendly, unlike the doctor Addeline crossed paths with when she first found out she was pregnant.
“Addy was in preterm labor when she first arrived. Her contractions were measuring between 10-12 minutes apart, but we were able to slow them way down with some medicine. You did great, getting her here quickly.”
“I see,” Copia continued to stare as though her explanation was not enough.
She walked over to the monitor to read it, sensing that he needed more, “It looks like she hasn’t had anything happen for about 20 minutes so that’s great!” She looked at Addy and gave a peppy thumbs up.
“That is wonderful news,” Copia agreed, “And the baby?”
“Baby’s heartbeat looks good,” she wanted to address Addy directly, “Now Addy you are just shy of 33 weeks which means baby’s lungs haven’t really had all the time they need to develop. We gave you some medicine to help baby’s lungs get stronger, ok?”
“Okay…” this information worried her a bit.
“It’s just a precaution in case you go into labor again before it’s time—”
“—When will it be time?” Copia interjected again.
“Well, ideally we do want Addy to make it to her due date but I know that doesn’t always happen in these cases,” she turned to face her patient, “You told me that was March 13th but if we can’t make it to that day then I’d be happy with anything after 34 weeks.”
“Will the medicine stop it from happening again?” Addy wanted to know.
“The medicine only prevents labor for about 2 to 7 days but there are some things we can do to try to keep baby in longer.”
“Like what?” Addeline asked.
“I think bedrest is a good idea,” Dr. Jenkins explained, “And it might be difficult, but I tell all my pregnant moms with your issue to sleep on your left side if possible. It increases blood flow to the uterus.”
“Bedrest? We’re on a tour?” Addeline thought this impossible.
“Ah,” the doctor said as though a lightbulb had gone off in her head, “You are part of the band Ghost!”
“Yes,” Addy confirmed, “We wrap up in March just in time for our due date.”
The physician frowned, “It would really be ideal if you were close to home around that time, Addeline. If that’s not possible then I would at least make sure you are always close to a hospital.”
She turned to address the Cardinal. She was getting the feeling that Addeline’s concern was remaining with him. If she was going to talk sense into someone—if anyone could coax Addy to go back home, it would be Copia.
“She is going to need a weekly shot of progesterone to keep labor at bay and your baby will need weekly monitoring. Those are best scheduled at home with her obstetrician.”
The cardinal and Addy looked at each other realizing their predicament, “Is flying safe?” Copia asked.
“Honestly, it’s not ideal to fly after 37 weeks in a normal pregnancy. In your wife’s particular situation, she could go into labor at any point in time. If you need to fly, I would do it as soon as possible. I can’t stress enough how important that is.”
Addy looked at Copia and shook her head. She knew what he was thinking, and she refused to go do what she went on tour to avoid.
“Addy,” Dr. Jenkins continued, “I also think pelvic rest might be a good idea too.”
“Pelvic rest?” The cardinal and Addy asked simultaneously.
“In a nutshell,” the doctor explained, “No sex. No penetration at all. That includes objects and your husband.”
The Cardinal coughed loudly, choking on his own breath. Both women glanced towards him to see he’d almost fallen off the edge of his seat.
The physician went on with her invasive list of suggestions, “No anal, no rubbing, no masturbating, no oral, no foreplay—”
A look of dread washed over Addeline’s face. The doctor picked up on it immediately, “Listen, guys, I don’t like to tell couples to refrain from intimacy, but I really do think it’s for the baby’s best interest in this case.”
“I understand no penetration,” Addy said, “but why the other stuff?”
“Plainly speaking, you need to try to avoid orgasms.”
Addy’s face was sour, “No orgasms—at all?”
The Cardinal made the same noise he had made just moments before. He sounded like he was trying to cough up something from the depths of his insides.
“—I know it must seem unfair,” the doctor interrupted, “I really do sympathize, but orgasms can cause the uterine wall to contract, and it can put pressure on your pelvis. In fact, when my patients go beyond their due date, I tell them to have sex to jump start labor.”
The doctor was puzzled and realized that she might have judged the Cardinal too quickly upon first appearances. He seemed to be willing to do anything to keep his baby safe while Addy seemed to be questioning everything she suggested. He turned to face his wife and reckoned to reason with her, “Tesoro, if you go home, it will be much easier to keep our hands off one another, no? And I’m sure Elizabeth is ready to go home.”
The Cardinal turned to the doctor, “We have little one back at home. A tour is not a place for a tiny bambina. We’ll be celebrating her first birthday in May.”
“You have a baby under one?” the doctor questioned, intrigued by the new information, “Addy you didn’t tell me that.”
“I meant to, but things were so hectic when I first got here. Is that important?”
In a very motherly tone free from judgement the doctor kindly explained, “Sometimes getting pregnant too soon after having a baby can be a cause preterm labor. You’re a healthy young lady but maybe it was a bit too soon for your body.”
Addy suddenly felt guilty. Of course, these were not the doctor’s intentions. The physician wanted to offer a reason for why this could be happening to them. She placed a hand on Addy’s bedside, “This is not your fault. It happens all the time—you are not the only one,” she continued, “But you do need to take good care of yourself for the next few weeks.”
The Cardinal took his wife’s hand, who was on the verge of tears at this point. He looked up at the doctor and nodded, “Thank you,” he said, a subtle hint to her to give the couple some alone time. In her absence the cardinal was able to speak freely in front of his wife, “My love—”
“—No,” Addy quickly disagreed with whatever he was about to say, “I won’t go back without you. I can’t!”
“I’m afraid, dear, there is no other choice. You want our baby to be born healthy, yes?”
“There has to be another way, Papa!” She paused for a second, changing from a somewhat erratic state of mind to a more peaceful one, “Do you remember when you told me a long time ago that I was making a sacrifice?”
It was a rhetorical question. She didn’t expect Copia to answer but still he nodded, acknowledging that he did recall those words.
“I have sacrificed nothing for you. It has been my greatest honor to be with you. I love you and giving you children has meant everything to me.”
She thought she could see a tear escape the Cardinal’s glossy eye.
“I signed up for this knowing what came with it. But I did not sign up to be ridiculed, mocked, and made to feel useless. I did not come into this expecting to be treated like a breeding machine. My dignity seems to be what I’ve sacrificed, and that sacrifice isn’t even to you.”
“Amore—” he reached out for her.
“They’ll blame me for what’s happened here. You know that’s true. And without you in my corner they will eat me alive.”
Copia thought for a second. He did not want to put his wife into any situation where she felt uncomfortable or cornered, but he also wanted his child to come into the world as safely as possible.
“I’ve got it!” he came up with an arrangement that would make it work, “Amore, please listen to your Papa. This is how it will be and there is no other alternative.”
The woman listened intently. She could see that the Cardinal had a serious demeanor about him, and she knew that whatever he was about to say would be her only other option.
“You’re not going to like it completely, but it will mean you will not have to return home so soon.”
She was all ears.
“You will keep temporary residence here.”
“Here? In Paris?” she asked.
He continued, “Near this hospital, yes. You will stay and continue to come here for monitoring and when it’s time to have the baby you will come here to do that too.”
“So, we’ll have the baby here? In Paris? In this town?”
The Cardinal laughed, “Do you have a problem with Paris, my dear?”
“No,” she quickly responded, “I love the idea… but…”
“But what?” Copia said, in a monotone voice.
“I’ll be here alone?”
“I need to finish the tour, Tesoro, but you will not be alone. I will ask someone to stay with you. Do you like this doctor?”
“I do like her. I like her a lot.”
Papa continued, “Then she will deliver our baby. I’ll pay whatever the hospital wants.”
The doctor came back in rolling an ultrasound machine, “I’m back!” she said in a cheery manner.
“Doctor,” Copia was going to raise the matter with the physician, “I wonder if you might like to continue caring for my wife for the duration of the pregnancy?”
“I would absolutely love to look after Addy,” she exclaimed. “Have you decided to stay nearby then?”
“Yes, yes. She’ll stay here while I finish my tour and I’ll hopefully join her before the due date.”
“I think that’s a great idea,” the woman agreed as she splattered a warm clear gel over Addy’s belly. “Now let’s see how baby is doing?”
She pressed the ultrasound wand on top of Addy’s large but petite tummy. Dr. Jenkins remained very silent and stayed eerily focused as she looked at the monitor. The Cardinal became worried, “Doctor?”
“I’m sorry,” she said when she saw the concern in their expressions, “I was just checking to make sure Addy wasn’t leaking amniotic fluid, but the good news is she’s not!”
This earned a sigh of relief from Papa.
She continued moving the wand around, bringing her finger to the screen, “There’s your baby boy.”
Addy’s face shot toward the screen like a rubber band breaking under pressure, “My what?” her voice cracked.
The doctor realized she had just revealed the gender to a couple that had may have been waiting until birth to find out, “I’m so sorry, Addy, I assumed you—"
“—It’s a boy?”
“Are you sure?” The Cardinal asked.
She placed her fingertip on the screen, pointing to a very obvious indicator that the fetus was a boy, “I am as sure as anything that this is a little boy.”
Addeline covered her face to try to hide the tears that were inevitable. All this time she had deemed herself worthless for not giving Copia the boy he needed. Now, it had finally come to fruition. Copia had never been disappointed in her. He was happy to have anything with her—be it girls or boys—but seeing how happy the revelation had made his young wife brought tears from his eyes also. The black paint from his eyes mixed with the white and droplets of grey color fell to his pant leg.
“Oh good!” the doctor laughed, “You’re happy.”
“We are very happy,” Papa said as he leaned in to bring his wife’s forehead to his own.
The doctor was touched at how in love they seemed to be. She was very happy to see that the man was so supportive of her new patient. She removed the wand from Addy’s stomach and wiped it clean of the goo, “Addy, I want to keep you here over night, but we’ll get you checked out in the morning. I want to see you here in exactly one week, ok? So, make an appointment on your way out.”
“Ok,” she managed to push out the two syllables—her voice full of emotion.
The doctor took her leave once more, leaving the messy frontman and his wife alone.
“You did it, my love,” Copia said to her.
“I did it,” she repeated, laughing through tears.
Papa lightly took her face into his hands and had the woman look him in the eyes, “I am eternally grateful to you, my love.”
*
Copia walked out of the room to meet with Swiss and Cirrus who had been waiting patiently for him to be finished. He found his ghouls waiting in a small lobby.
“Hey!” Swiss shouted, cafeteria food falling out of his mouth. “You’re a mess!”
A cheeky smirk decorated the Cardinal’s face
“So, how is she,” the hungry ghoul continued.
“She’s fine, she… uh…,” he let out a frill ha ha before answering, “She’s having a boy—we’re having a boy.”
“No shit?” Swiss asked.
Cirrus jumped up from her seat and stood still to wait for confirmation on what the cardinal had just said. The two ghouls ran up to their frontman and embraced him tightly.
“Thank you, thank you,” Papa said, hugging them back.
“Well, what’s the plan for Addeline?” Cirrus asked, waiting intently for his explanation.
“Addeline, she cannot go home—not yet. My son must be born here—”
“—HA!” Swiss remarked, “I’m sure Sister and the clergy will be thrilled to hear that.”
Ignoring the sarcasm of the male ghoul he continued his conversation with the female, “She needs to live here, temporarily. It is the only way, unfortunately. My dilemma is I cannot stay with her, but I also cannot leave her by herself.”
“That is a dilemma,” Cirrus agreed.
“I will have to ask Sister to stay with Addy and afraid neither one of them will be thrilled with that idea.”
“Yikes,” the ghoulette blurted out, “Well good luck with that.”
“Well…” Papa prepared to ask the woman for a favor, “I was hoping you would mention it to her?”
“Me?” Cirrus was not looking forward to the idea of revealing the situation to Sister Imperator. “Why me?”
Swiss laughed, giving bandmate a jolting pat on the shoulder.
“Please, Cirrus. I cannot handle the stress tonight.”
The ghoulette reluctantly agreed although she was afraid of Imperator. She knew that whatever lecture that was intended for Papa and Addy would now be given to her.
“Swiss, if you do not mind picking us up in the morning, I would be grateful.”
“You’re not coming back with us,” the man asked.
“I can’t leave her here alone,” he whimpered, “The two of you can go back to the hotel.”
“Yea,” Swiss said, “Tell Addy her knight in shining armor will be here,” he joked, referring to how he saved Addy’s life.
Papa shuddered at this, to think what would have happened had Swiss not found Addy in the hallway. He was grateful for the man being at the right place at the right time, “Arrivederci then my ghouls!”
*
The next day, true to his word, Swiss drove back to the hospital to pick the couple up. The band had a show the next day and needed to be on the road by noon. The impending dread of Copia’s departure ate away at Addeline. The alternative, of course, was worse but she never wanted to be in a position where she would have to ‘miss’ him. She was so enmeshed with the Cardinal that being separated from him was deemed a tragedy in her mind.
When the hotel came into view, Addeline could see that the band was packing for the road when they pulled up. Swiss let them jump out at the front entrance so that Addy would not have to walk very far.
“Can you walk, Amore? Should I get a wheelchair from the lobby?”
“No,” she responded, “It’s a few steps and we’ll take the elevator up. I’ll get into bed immediately.”
Copia knew that sometimes his wife did not know what was best for her, “I think I shall grab the chair,” he told her, “Wait here.”
She grumbled, quite annoyed. She could see Swiss halfway across the parking lot. She waved to him, making him jog quickly over to her.
“Why the hell haven’t you gone inside yet?” Swiss laughed.
Just then, Copia came out with the chair. Swiss eyeballed the chair and then glanced at Addy, “Really?”
“I didn’t want it,” she elbowed him, “Now hush before I make you push me.”
They made their way through the lobby to the elevator. Copia was trying hard not to be recognized since he was still dressed and somewhat painted from the night before. Sister was waiting on them when they arrived at the room. The woman appeared to be very angry with her stern face and pursed lips.
"Ah, Sister, ha ha," Copia laughed nervously, "How are you?"
"Don't give me that 'how are you?' crap! Do you know how I am?" Copia did not answer, reasoning that it was a rhetorical question, and that Sister would soon tell him exactly how she was.
“I received not one phone call from you last night. Elizabeth was concerned about Addy all night long. I couldn’t get the child to bed. Thank Satan, Cirrus was able to explain the whole ordeal.”
“Where is Elizabeth?” Addy chimed in, worried about her daughter.
“She is sleeping, finally. Sister stopped lecturing the cardinal and redirected her focus towards Addy, “You, young lady. You were advised by myself, the Cardinal here, the clergy and professionals to STAY HOME. But did you listen? No, you didn’t. You’re a selfish girl. You put your needs ahead of everybody else’s and—”
“Addy’s having a boy,” Copia shouted out, not able to bear the shouting any longer.
The woman's ranting abruptly stopped, much to the cardinal's relief. She composed herself, straightening her blazer and flicking a piece of lent from her shoulder, “A boy?” she asked.
Papa and Addy simultaneously began nodding their heads.
Sister took a deep breath in and out, her voice filled with a mix of surprise and joy, "That's... that's wonderful."
Papa could sense her effort to hold back her emotions in the midst of her serious discussion.
“Well,” Imperator continued, “Cirrus has informed me that I will be staying home with Addeline.”
Copia let out a loud cough, almost sounding like he might pass out. He realized he had forgotten to inform his wife that she would be left with Sister. Turning to face Addy, who was still in the wheelchair, he saw shock and anger in her expression. "WHAT!?" she screeched.
Copia tried to explain, mentioning Sister's capability to handle the situation, “Now, darling, she is the only person who can remain behind and not be missed," he paused to look at Imperator, "No offense."
"None taken," Sister replied.
"And, quite frankly darling, I believe she is the only one with a will strong enough to keep you in bed."
Addy wanted to scream. She wanted to attack her husband. She felt betrayed by him. She loathed the idea of staying with Sister Imperator who was just an extension of the clergy.
“But Papa—”
“There are no buts, Amore,” he interrupted whatever excuse she was about to give him, “Now, get into bed.”
As the departure time approached for Papa Emeritus and the band, he didn't want to spend his final moments with his wife in conflict.
She raised herself from the chair, pushing up on the armrest to heave herself out while Copia held onto her arm. As he walked her to their bedroom, she knew it was the last time she would see him until the tour was over—still another month to go.
“As much as it saddens me my sweet, I must leave.”
She grabbed him tightly and locked lips with him entangling their bodies like two slinkies intertwined. He was savoring the taste of her—saddened that this would be the first time they’d be separated since their first meeting. He firmly grabbed the woman’s shoulders, gently separating himself from her, and held her out in front of his face. He wanted to remember how she looked at this very moment. He knew the next time he saw her she would most likely be minus one big belly.
His stoic gaze was sending Addy into a frenzy, “Do you have any idea what you’re doing to me right now?” she asked. Addy’s hormones during pregnancy had always made her want him so much more. It was like a burning need to have him fully envelop her soul.
Hearing this made the Cardinal perk up a bit—maybe a little too much. In this moment, Addeline could also see his need for her. He hadn’t any time to hide this fact before Addy was hanging back onto his lips. His hands gripped her waist, and he pulled her into his body, the large bump in the middle of the two, made it quite difficult to press into each other. He placed one of her hands on his manhood and ferociously caressed her face with his mouth as she squeezed.
Barely able to breathe he broke out from out under his wife’s spell, “Cazzo,” he gasped as he pulled away from her, “Amore, we cannot!”
Addy was breathing heavily—strands of tangled hair hanging in front of her face. Her need for him was so painful she had to press over her crotch to stop the throbbing. She didn’t know how she was going to survive without his touch, without feeling one with him, for so long.
He placed his hand on her belly, “We must do what is best for him, my sweet.”
“I know, I know,” she agreed. “It just hurts to want you so bad right now.”
“I know my darling,” he shared her disdain. “Perhaps I should take my leave now to remove the temptation.”
“Perhaps…”
“Eyes up here,” he said, noticing that the woman was still staring at his erection. “I cannot have you taking care of that for me today, Tesoro.”
Sister walked in with some of her things just in time to see the cat and mouse game her son and Addy were playing. She let a heavy sigh escape her mouth as she shook her head, “No,” she scolded, them both, “That’s what got you two into this mess.”
Addy, quite embarrassed, walked to the other side of the room to stare out the window, holding her belly in her hands. Sister shot Papa a vile look of discontentment, condemning him for not heeding what the doctor had said.
“What is wrong with you?” she mouthed.
He shrugged his shoulders and subtly threw his hands in the air.
“Addeline,” Imperator began, “Come tell Papa goodbye.
Addeline turned around and walked to the man with tears in her eyes. He embraced her sweetly and consoled her, “Amore, I will call you every night, ok?”
She nodded, "Okay, Papa."
With a softened heart, Sister approached the young woman, “It’s going to be okay, child. The tour will be over in no time, and you’ll be holding that baby boy.”
“Two things to celebrate when I return,” Copia added, wiping a tear from her cheek.”
“Okay,” she calmed down, “I’ll miss you. I love you so much.”
“I love you too, my darling,” he reciprocated her feelings.
Before heading out the door he mouthed, “Thank you,” to Imperator, earning him a very small smile from the woman.
Once the man was out of sight, Sister turned to Addy and immediately began to mother her, “Listen, I hate to be a buzz kill but Cardi told me I’m supposed to make sure you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing. And from the looks of what I walked in on, you’re not doing that.”
“I know, I was just trying to—”
“Oh, I know what you were trying to do,” she scolded, “Now, I do believe the bed is calling your name.”
“Yea,” she agreed, “Bedrest. Fun!”
“Well, you get to be lazy which is not all that different than what you normally do, right?”
She couldn’t help taking one more jab at the girl, “Lots of TV and snacks in your future,” she shouted as she went to move the rest of her belongings into her bedroom. “My room is right next door. Elizabeth will sleep in there with me. You’re obviously in no condition to care for the child.
“Will you bring her to me when she wakes up?” Addy begged, “I miss her.”
Without answering, Sister continued, “If you need something, just say so.”
With those words, she disappeared from sight.
Addeline was so disheartened. Not only was she on her own with a horrid mother-in-law, but she was isolated from everyone she held dear. The fear of losing her baby boy weighed heavily on her, causing her to cling tightly to her belly. The realization of carrying such an important life within her made her question her worth. If she couldn't safely bring this being into the world, what purpose did she serve to Papa or the clergy? The thought weighed on her as she sank into bed, overwhelmed by her emotions.
Elena is in the couch watching television and eating chips dip in ice cream. he approach her "Elena, are you alright?" Damon asked sitting down beside her.
Elena nods, Damon turn the television off as it seems to distracts Elena "You've been acting weird..." Damon began, "what do you mean?" Elena questioned cutting him off "I mean I notice that your frequent trips to the bathroom and you seem to lose your appetite sometimes" Damon explains and Elena sighs nervously she looks away and focus on the cover of the couch beneath her "Damon, the truth is I'm pregnant" she admitted nervously "Really?" Damon asked surprised but with a hint of happiness in his tone and Elena nods "you're not m..." Elena got cut off when Damon caught her lips in a passionate kiss she was surprise but kiss him back when they're pull apart Damon places a kiss on her forehead "Of course not....I love you and I will love our first child" Damon whispers to her "I love you too" Elena laughs as they kiss again.
~Timeskip~
The day had finally come; after nine long months, Elena was finally about to give birth to her first child. She was overwhelmed with excitement, yet terrified at the same time. As she lay naked in the center of their bedroom, her stomach was cramping and her muscles trembling her contractions had just started.
Damon, was by her side, looking on with mixed emotions of both fear and joy. He held her hand tightly as he tried to remain brave and support her. Elena's mind was filled with conflicting thoughts as the contractions worsen and her water break her waters gushing out her naked opening and wetting the sheets .
"Can we do this?" Elena asked panting
Damon caressed her hand lovingly. 'Yes, of course we can,' he encouraged.
Once Elena was able to calm down a bit, the labor actually began to move quickly. as contractions started to come one after the other. Elena grew tired and sweaty as she feel a lot of pressure and decided it was time to push she grip the wet sheets beneath her and started to bore down. She tried to work with her breathing as she push......
At some point after two hours of pushing, the baby seemed to get stuck and despite all of Elena's pushing, "I think it's stuck?" Elena grunted her high-pitched moans echoing around the room Damon quickly move in front of her and spread her legs wider to be able to see her canal as she push, Damon sees the baby's butt peaking out and he tries not to panic "keep pushing," Damon encourage
Finally, after what seemed like forever as another hour went on the baby began to move but it was still a little stuck "here, let me help you get to all fours" Damon suggested offering a hand to Elena and Elena determinedly take his hand and move she whimpers and whine as she get to her hands and knees and felt the baby shift in her canal.
"C'mon Elena push" Damon encourages and she did rocking her hips as she began to bore down she moans as the baby's butt began to stretch her lips "Ahh...is it coming out?" she asked continuing her pushing "Yes, babe keep pushing" Damon encourages massaging her back as she push the baby began reaching full crown and Damon kept encouraging Elena to push supporting the baby's butt as the legs began to emerge "Almost there" he informs and her moans became more higher pitched as the baby's legs and feet finally emerge out her pussy
another hour past of pushing the lower half of the baby's body were hanging out her stretch pussy, At that very moment, Elena gave her all pushing and bearing down with all her might and screaming the first scream she let out since she starts pushing "Keep going, babe" Damon encouraged shushing her and comforting Elena, and soon enough, after another hour of pushing, the baby's hips began to slip out as Elena grunt and moan pushing and soon the crying newborn coming out slowly on Damon waiting arms along with a huge gush of amniotic fluids and follow quickly by the placenta.
Exhausted and relieved, Elena slumped on the bed panting as Damon help her lay down comfortably and presenting their crying baby to her Elena gently take the newborn in her arms and stared at the baby lovingly "we had a boy" Elena laughs out of breath and Damon embraced her with happiness and a deep sense of satisfaction. As they looked at their new born baby boy as it calm down in his mother's arms, Damon place a kiss on Elena's forehead "I'm so proud of you" he whispers and Elena smiles leaning exhaustedly on Damon's chest as their baby lay in their arms cooing at them.
Absolute - To Abhor the Impure World 1
(Location: Airport (Lobby))
(Time has passed to the present day. The first year of ES’s establishment, the last third of February)
(Michigan, United States of America International Airport)
Nagisa: …… Ibara. Ibara, it’s time to wake up.
…… Without you to guide us, we’ll be stranded, won’t we?
Ibara: …… Nn…
My apologies. I fell asleep, it seems.
Nagisa: …… Were you having a nightmare of some kind? You were crying out in your sleep?
Ibara: No—I was merely dreaming about the first time I came here with you all.
Nagisa: …… I see. Ah, how nostalgic.
Ibara: Yes. However, this truly is the greatest mistake of my life. Once we safely reached our destination, did I relax? Or was I just exhausted—
I thought I’d just rest my eyes for 5 minutes, but before I knew it I had lost consciousness.
Hiyori: That’s because you were working on the plane. You idiot, you work idiot.
The human body isn’t supposed to work for 24 hours straight, y’know.
But because you forced yourself to work, you burnt yourself out and your body forcefully shut down.
It’s like you’re no different from a machine.
Jun: Ahaha. I thought you’d be diligent about that kind of thing~, but I guess you’re resting when you should be resting, huh?
Ibara: I was trying to be diligent about that myself. If I force myself to work, my efficiency will only decrease and won’t lead to results.
However, as expected, we’re currently in a situation where we can’t keep up unless we spare no time for sleep and engage in the black labor that the people of Japan love so much—
Nagisa: …… I see. That sounds difficult… I wish there was something I could do to help.
Ibara: And whose fault do you think it is that I’m so busy~?
Hiyori: Hey, that sounds like something Jun-kun would say! My dear juniors have become really good friends before I knew it♪
Jun: Ohiisan, sometimes I have no idea what kind of logic led you to that kind of conclusion. Are you some kind of girl that only blabs about feelings or whatever~?
Hiyori: Wha- that’s quite the misogynistic statement, isn’t it?
You have to be careful, even if America is a country we’re well-acquainted with.
Even so, a foreign country is a foreign country—common sense, laws, ambience, everything is different here.
Ibara: Indeed. America is a country that’s prone to lawsuits, if you conduct yourself carelessly then you’ll be sent straight to a jail cell.
Jun: Huuuh…… But the last time we came here nothin’ really happened, right?
Obviously I know I shouldn’t lose focus n’ say “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas~.”
Nagisa: …… Nothing happened, right?
…… So that’s how you perceived it.
Jun: ? Huh, did something happen last time that I didn’t know about?
Nagisa: …… No. This is probably my own personal concern.
Jun: ………?
Ibara: Ahh seriously, if I leave you alone you’ll talk forever…… I was also nodding off, so I’m not really in any position to be bossy or scold you all.
Our time here is limited, so let’s act quickly and purposefully.
Hiyori: But today is just a travel day with nothing else to do, right? So wouldn’t it be fine to drop off our luggage at the hotel and go sightseeing or shopping?
Ibara: That’s alright, but before that—
Let’s greet the one responsible for calling us to this place.
There’s no point or need to be polite, though.
Gatekeeper: —Hey, you brats.
As usual, yer all are living with reckless abandon aren’t ya? Well?
Jun: Gatekeeper!?
Nagisa: …… It’s been a while.
Gatekeeper: Hey, child of God, yer looking like the Boss more and more these days.
Ya say it’s been a while, but it hasn’t been that long at all. Last time we met was during that main battle of SS, so it’s only been 2 months.
Well, I guess the sense of time is different for an old man like me and you brats.
Hiyori: Brat this, brat that…… As always, you sour the mood every time you open your mouth.
Gatekeeper: How rude, if ya make a fool of someone, it’ll cost ya yer business, see. Ya have a habit of threatening people over every little thing, like a stray cat.
Ibara: If you act too provocative, then you’ll only make more enemies, won’t you?
Gatekeeper: Ah? So what? It’s fine if ya kill the enemy. In fact, you’ll increase yer means of living—right?
Oh well. I’m also not in a position where I can be showing my face in public, so if we’re just chatting then let’s move somewhere else.
Shut up and follow me, youngsters.
Tiny Beautiful Things Chapter 30
AO3
“Ahh God!” She cries out, clinging tight to his neck. He prevents himself from chuckling. This is serious business and not something to take lightly, even if she sounds like she did when this baby was started.
“A bit more, almost there.” The midwife urges. A gasp, a pulled in breath, and she goes again.
He is awed by her strength. Twelve plus hours and she is still going strong. He thought that he went through hell after his accident but, seeing his wife labor to give birth puts that in it’s proper perspective.
“Here comes the head. Grand job. One big push love and then pant.” Her hand finds his hair and she pulls as she pushes. He doesn’t even whimper. Her other hand is tight in his. They both kneel over a birthing stool. The sea like scent of amniotic fluid and sweat fills the room.
She grunts and puts her remaining strength into it.
“Now pant for just a minute.” He knows their child’s head has been delivered. Moving his own a fraction of an inch, he can see it, a face coming out of his wife. He takes his own deep breath so not to faint.
“Okay Claire , one more big push and we will have baby.”
She bears down harder then she ever has before. Time seems to stop as the baby is eased out of her. Her grunts are all that is heard until…
“Waa, waaa, waaaa!”
The baby is lifted up until her chest. She is crying as she runs shaking hands over,
“A lass Claire!” Jamie’s job is to check that. “We’ve a lass!”
“Hello Faith Julia Ellen Fraser. Happy birthday!” She greets her red haired daughter, through her tears.
