Deep down I headcanon that Saeran avoids alcohol like the plague but also what if he didn't.

What if, especially during the SE when everything has gone to shit in life and he's so unmoored with his life suddenly being upended, the best he can do is get utterly plastered. Just to avoid the thoughts in his head.

(It helped when he was younger, when his mother threw the unfinished bottles at him. She never noticed when those last couple sips would disappear and her anxious child finally relaxed)

What're your thought on Skully/Skelly so far? Personally, I like the kid, he seems fun and cute (might even adopt him too lol)

I’ll make an update post later once the full event is out; this post will be my first impressions of the guy! Thought it might be interesting to document my feelings now and see how those change over time.

First thing I’ll say is while I like his design, his personality didn’t match my expectations. I expected him to be polite yet also eccentric and a little sinister, not… going around kissing the hands of everyone he meets. Skully also comes off as much more harmless than he appears. It’s an odd mix of demure but also really excitable when his special interest (Halloween, lol) comes up in conversation. A fun-loving guy! He definitely looks a lot more imposing and mysterious than he actually is.

I think a lot of his intimidation factor comes from the shades. If you take them away, he looks more like a dejected fuzzy animal or a Halloween-flavored Idia/Saeran (Mystic Messenger boi). LIKE SORRY BUT WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE A SAD PUPPY LEFT OUT IN THE RAIN… His spiral eyes are cool though ^^ It’s just slightly hard to see sometimes because of the shadow his hair casts and the shading around that area.

His overall expressiveness is great! He looks cute when he smiles and blushes (from his idol complimenting him, haha). It feels very pure and innocent, which contrasts with his more… deranged expressions.

The way he speaks surprised me too… He talks about coming from a rural place, but he speaks so formally! Sometimes even more formally than Jade. I wonder if that implies being of high class/social status or if he just taught himself to speak this way for personal reasons. My worst nightmare (hah) is that Skully devolves into a heavy Kansai accent later in the event (if only because I’m not sure how to transcribe the Kansai accent into English when I write his dialogue 💦).

I mentioned in an earlier post that Skully’s outfit is a Nightmare Suit provided by the book. We don’t know what he actually dresses like irl which is a shame. Knowing that would really help with getting a read on his character, even if he were just in a school uniform (because different people can wear their uniforms very differently, as we can see in the NRC School Uniform line of cards). Stuffing Skully into a Nightmare Suit by default doesn’t tell me much about how he presents himself outside of the book, in reality.

There’s definitely a lot of interesting (and vague) lore around him 🤔 like how he doesn’t know what magical pens are and how his hometown is the only place that knows who Jack Skellington is… Hopefully those questions get answered by the end of the event. I also have to wonder why he’s such an intense Halloween otaku??? There could be no deep reason behind it, but I’m a little suspicious since this is a Halloween event. It feels like Skully’s hiding something and/or he’s not confident in himself since his dialogue implies he’s a loner irl. Maybe he’s attracted to the idea of Halloween because even the dead and creatures of the night can fit in (so he, the outcast, can also have a place among them)?

That being said, I do find Skully’s personality charming, especially when he’s opening the event with his little dramatic monologue about Halloween. It’s a nice way to interpret Jack Skellington’s whimsy and child-like wonder into a Twst character. However, I don’t exactly find myself completely endeared to his character yet. He feels a little too… safe? Too… sweet. Unless this was all intentionally and he's actually a RSA student or something/j I’d like to see more of his villainous traits and weaknesses on display to get a full scope of his character. *rubs hands together* I want to see what he’s like when he snaps… We already saw some glimpses of his nastier side when he calls his classmates worthless for not understanding him. I want to see that unleashed on the NRC students! As is, I’m not sure if I enjoy him talking down to others (he calls his classmates worthless) for not being on the same wavelength as him when it comes to his interests. It feels like something elitist otaku do (Idia has definitely done this), and that’s a big yikes for me.

Unironically, I think that Saeyoung would enjoy carrying his S/O around in his arms the most out of all mysmes characters. Take a moment to think about it. He knows he's in good physical shape. But nobody else does. He avoids talking about it or showing it off. It's a rather big contrast compared to his other skills and accomplishments he loves bragging about in the chatrooms, even if he often muddies the truth to keep everyone safe from his true identity. And when someone does notice the defined muscle in his arms, he's rather dismissive of it. A strange: 'Oh, yeah, I got some muscle' attitude, before he casually switches the subject. I kind of feel like he has very negative connotations about his own physical strength.

Saeyoung is a protector. It's his best AND he's worst quality simultaneously. As a child, he was too weak to protect Saeran. He used his brain, not his muscle. Now, he's a grown man. A strong, grown man who's probably much more capable of protecting someone physically when push comes to shove. But instead that strength is utilized by him for shady jobs at best, and downright horrible crimes at worst. His strength does no good for him. But he's forced to maintain it nonetheless. To remain alive. In order to protect Saeran, he needs to remain alive. To protect his brother not with his muscle. But with his brain.

Now, imagine this. His perspective on himself changes greatly when you come into his life. You help him believe in himself, to fight for what he thinks is right, to have hope into the bright future where he actually deserves to be happy and free, along with his family. He has viewed himself as nothing but a fraud, a forever tainted fallen angel, but you make him see the good and earnest man inside him that has always been there.

And with you, he can use his muscles for good, for the first time in his life. He can make you smile, squeal, and giggle in delight as he effortlessly sweeps you off your feet and twirls you around, joining you in your fit of laughter. He can help you carry the groceries on the way to his car, such a simple and mundane gesture, but one he finds himself enjoying almost too much. He can make you feel safe as he carries you up to your shared bedroom, since you can just relax and nuzzle into him without any worry in the world.

Because he's got you.

I'm skeptical that Saeyoung will stick to the same workout routine he had to follow while being an informant. Once his father is out of the picture and he knows his family is safe, he can allow himself to relax. Indulge a little. But I do think he'll maintain some of his muscle mass, specifically in his arms. As time passes and you settle into the quiet life of domestic bliss he's always dreamed of, his shape will become more supple and round, but his arms will always be there to remind you that he'll forever be your anchor.

And for him to remember that his strength can now be used to make someone happy.

one of the mistakes one can make while analyzing seven's character in his route is take these words of his literally, as they are

he is an unreliable narrator ! saeran also proves this when he talks about seven being a positive and optimistic person since he was a child aka back when he was saeyoung . this guy's perception of himself is deeply warped so im curious as to why folks believe his rants about himself like he hasn't had a major identity crisis since middle school

again, luciel is a very unreliable narrator. his mind is deeply poisoned by self-hatred and extreme stress, he is unable to analyze himself correctly .

while it is true that 707 was used as a mask, it is still him. if we suggest that it is all a lie(like he said here) we'd have to erase 80% of his personality in the game and it is impossible that seven was literally just straight up lying for all that time because he is genuine in almost all those moments . he's genuine when he cares about mc and gives her a cyber safety advice RANT on the very first call while pranking her, spams the RFA chat whenever bored or burnt out, messes with yoosung or someone else to relieve stress, expresses his love for kitties and making gadgets, gets literal ZOOMIES and loves to use all types of emojis while texting, talks about his interests in memes and fictional media, crossdresses and cosplays for his own enjoyment and, most importantly, points out how nice it feels for mc to understand his humor and silliness when no one else engages in it and makes fun of him instead. you are meant to play along with his quirky, odd side that is 707 or else you get a bad story ending for not making him feel understood. he NEEDS you to get him.

back to the visual novel sequence, what seven REALLY means in this moment is that 707 is not the only part if him. though he rejects it completely because he knows its an aspect of his personality that mc likes(and hes trying to push her away, remember?). when he wishes for mc to accept all of him, he means that he wants her to accept his hurt, scarred side as well. the reason why he says "cold" and "icy" is not because he really is that, it's because he literally needs her to see him as that to no longer try to pursue him

he says "temporary" because while 707 is still him, it wasn't ALWAYS him

Is SE Saeran comfortable with kissing?? It’s alright if not, BUT If so how would him and Mc’s first kiss play out 👀👀

SE Saeran is going to need a long time before he's ready to get into a romantic relationship. He needs to work on himself before he does anything else. It's also going to take time as he eases his way into a relationship. You're not going to be able to do everything all at once.

But, if you love him, that means that you're willing to be patient with him, you're willing to learn the best way to communicate with him, you're willing to put in the right amount of effort to make sure this relationship works out the way you want it to. On the other side, that means he's willing to put the work in as much as he can as well. It's not always easy, but when you want to make it work together, that's what you do.

Kissing is... for the lack of a better word, strange. Saeran has seen it before. He's seen couples in love over all the place, but it never meant much to him in the grand scheme of things because his life was only made for revenge. He didn't think he would have a normal life. He had no choice but to be a tool for revenge, his brother stole everything he ever wanted away from him as far as he knew, and the only way to be sure he could reclaim even half of that was to get rid of Saeyoung for it.

He doesn't understand why people get into relationships or why those emotions matter. It's hard to conceptualize the idea that somebody could love you so much that they would be willing to spend all their time with you.

He's been left in the dust so often that he can't imagine anybody wanting to spend time with him. Why in the world would anybody pick him when he doesn't understand why people love each other? The only time he's seen romance that remotely made sense to him was when he looked in storybooks as a child, but real life isn't like the stories we read, things can be messy and complicated. You can't kiss the prince/ss and move to the good part where nothing goes wrong and it all works out.

You can't put a pretty bow on everything and call it a day.

It takes hard work. 

For whatever reason, I think he sensationalizes the idea of a kiss. It is supposed to feel like this grandiose event where everything falls into place, but it's not quite like that. There's no magic, at least not in the literal sense, it's a connection you feel with someone that drives you to move closer. Sparks will fly but it is more metaphorical than literal. 

That's where I think he would have a hard time. As you slowly ease into the relationship, it would take a while before you got to the kiss, and you wouldn't know it, but he would spend that time thinking about it. He would get inside his head about it. What if it's not perfect? What if it doesn't feel right the first time? What if he does it and it makes you want to leave him forever? He is running through a thousand scenarios because he's making it out to be something much larger than what it is. 

I can picture it, you and Saeran sitting together in a perfect moment where he leans in to kiss you, but he misses your lips entirely. He would be mortified. He's not somebody who can manifest the words that are burning in the back of his head, but the embarrassment and shame would be written all over his face.

How could he ruin the perfect moment? It's easy to fall into that mentality. 

You might think you need to verbally reassure him at that moment, but actually, what you need to do is let out a little laugh. It won’t hurt him. Laugh and cup his face in your hands, “Don’t worry, I think we need to practice a few times to get it right.”

Of course, even as bold as you are, you end up missing his lips on accident, too. That would make him feel better about it. If you're both clumsy and unsure of yourselves, that makes the situation feel less daunting. If it's something you learn together, if it's something you come to understand together, and if it's something that doesn't feel as heavy as it seems when you’re struggling to understand how to do it "right"? Well, Saeran’s not afraid anymore. 

Because that's the thing. It doesn't need to be perfect and may not always be perfect the first time you try something. But, that doesn't mean it's not beautiful in its own right. Sometimes it's not a fairy tale, but real life doesn't need to be one, it just needs to be the story of Your Love no matter how clumsy it is.

It takes a weight off his chest to know that you're both learning how to do this together and it doesn't have to be a certain way, it just has to feel right.

Your extremely tired and long suffering library aide, despite his demonic heritage he’s probably one of the most kindest men you’ve met. Constantly worrying about scaring the students due to his scarred face, he’d rather spoil the students than discipline them. But then you have to wonder where he got all his scars, or why he’s missing an eye.

Seems to hold some long held fear and trauma over wielding any sort of weapon, even if means protecting students lives.
