Modern Muse: Pastel Trends for Summer by Samyakk
Introduction:
As the scorching summer sun blazes overhead, finding the perfect wardrobe that offers both comfort and style becomes essential. Breathable summer outfits are a must, especially when it comes to summer ethnic wear. Pastel colors, with their light and airy vibe, emerge as the ultimate choice for a refreshing summer style, in line with current summer fashion trends. These soft hues not only keep you cool but also exude elegance and sophistication, making them a favourite among fashion enthusiasts. Let’s dive into the world of pastels and explore how they can transform your ethnic summer wardrobe into comfortable summer clothing that’s both stylish and practical.
Tumblr media
The Allure of Pastel Colors
Pastel colors, characterized by their soft and muted tones, include shades like baby blue, mint green, blush pink, lilac, baby blue, lavender, and peach. These colors are inherently calming and have a soothing effect on the eyes, which makes them perfect for the hot summer months. Unlike darker shades, pastels reflect sunlight rather than absorbing it, helping to keep the body cool. Additionally, pastels are versatile and can be easily paired with various accessories and styles to create different looks.
Pastels in Ethnic Wear: A Perfect Match
Lightweight traditional wear is a staple in every summer wardrobe, and pastel hues breathe new life into these summer wardrobe essentials. Ethnic wear, with its rich heritage and diverse styles, beautifully embraces pastel colors. Whether it’s a traditional saree, an elegant anarkali, a chic salwar kameez, a trendy lehenga, or a comfortable kurta, incorporating pastel hues can elevate the outfit to a whole new level of summer fashion sophistication.
Pastel Kurtis and Tunics: Casual and Chic
Kurtis and tunics are versatile pieces that can be styled for both casual and semi-formal occasions. A pastel kurti in shades like blush pink or mint green paired with white leggings or palazzos makes for a breezy summer outfit. For a more contemporary look, opt for a pastel tunic with asymmetrical hemlines or subtle embroidery. These can be paired with jeans or straight pants for a fusion look that is both comfortable and stylish.
Tumblr media
Pastel Sarees: Grace and Elegance
Sarees are a timeless piece of ethnic wear, and when rendered in pastel shades, they offer an unparalleled grace. A blush pink chiffon saree with delicate silver embroidery is perfect for a summer wedding, exuding an ethereal charm. For a more casual look, a mint green cotton saree paired with a contrasting blouse can be both comfortable and stylish. Pastel sarees, summer sarees or light fabric sarees like linen, georgette, and silk can vary in their formality, making them suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions.
Anarkalis in Pastels: Regal and Refined
Anarkalis, with their flowing silhouette, are another excellent choice for summer ethnic wear. Opt for a pastel-colored anarkali in fabrics like georgette or chiffon to keep the look light and breezy. A lavender anarkali with intricate thread work can be a showstopper at any festive occasion, while a babyblue anarkali with minimal embellishments is ideal for a daytime event. Pairing these anarkalis with matching or contrasting dupattas can add a layer of sophistication and depth to the outfit.
Salwar Kameez: Versatile and Vibrant
The summer salwar suit, with its lightweight fabric and breezy silhouette, is a must-have in every ethnic wardrobe. Pastel colors breathe new life into this classic ensemble, making pastel color salwar suits a delightful choice for the season. Picture yourself in a peach-colored palazzo suit or sharara suit adorned with floral prints, perfect for a casual day out under the sun. Alternatively, opt for a pale yellow churidar set featuring subtle zari work on the dupatta, striking the perfect balance between simplicity and elegance. Donning different cuts, such as straight-cut, A-line, or asymmetrical, adds further variety to your pastel salwar kameez collection, ensuring you stay stylish and comfortable throughout the summer.
Tumblr media
Lehengas: Modern and Majestic
For those grand summer occasions, pastel-colored lehengas emerge as a fantastic option, especially for summer weddings. The lightweight and breathable nature of summer lehengas make them ideal for the season. Imagine yourself adorned in a powder blue cotton lehenga, intricately detailed with sequined work, ensuring you stand out without being overpowering in the summer sun. Similarly, a pastel green lehenga featuring delicate mirror work combines trendiness with tradition, perfect for a summer wedding attire. These soft hues provide the perfect canvas for heavier embellishments and intricate designs, maintaining an elegant balance without appearing overly gaudy. Complete the look by pairing your pastel lehenga with a contrasting or matching choli and dupatta, creating a cohesive and striking ensemble that exudes summer sophistication.
Maxi Dresses: Effortless Elegance
Maxi dresses are a summer essential, combining comfort and style, especially when made from lightweight fabrics like cotton, linen, georgette, or chiffon. These breathable materials ensure comfort in hot weather. Additionally, floral prints add a feminine and fresh touch, making pastel floral maxi dresses perfect for any occasion. Styled with minimalistic jewellery and sandals, they offer a chic, effortless look ideal for both casual and evening events.
Co-ord Sets: Summer Synchrony
Co-ord sets are perfect for summer, offering a stylish and coordinated look with minimal effort. In pastel colors or vibrant prints, they are both trendy and versatile. Pastel co-ord sets provide a soft, sophisticated appearance, ideal for daytime outings or casual events. On the other hand, printed co-ord sets add a fun, playful vibe, making them perfect for festivals, beach days, or lively gatherings.
Pastel Kurtas for Men: Cool and Comfortable
Men’s ethnic wear also benefits greatly from the soothing appeal of pastels. Pastel kurtas are an excellent choice for summer, offering a stylish yet comfortable option for various occasions.
Tumblr media
Pastel Kurtas for Casual Wear
For a relaxed, casual look, men can opt for pastel-colored kurtas in lightweight fabrics like cotton or linen. A sky blue kurta paired with white churidars or beige trousers can be perfect for a day out or a casual family gathering. These kurtas can be styled with minimalistic accessories, such as a simple watch or leather sandals, to keep the look understated yet stylish.
Pastel Kurtas for Festive Occasions
For festive occasions, men can choose pastel kurtas with subtle embroidery or embellishments. A peach or mint green kurta with intricate thread work paired with a matching churidar can be an elegant choice for celebrations. Adding a matching or contrasting stole can further enhance the festive look. Pastel men’s wear kurtas or Men’s summer kurta can also be paired with traditional footwear like mojris or juttis to complete the ensemble.
Embracing Natural Fabrics
Choosing the right fabric for summer is crucial to ensure comfort while looking stylish in your cool summer outfits, especially for casual summer wear. Breathable, lightweight, and natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, and chiffon are ideal for the hot weather.
Cotton
Cotton is a staple for summer due to its breathability and ability to absorb moisture. Cotton kurta sets in pastel colors are perfect for both casual and formal wear. The fabric allows air circulation, keeping the body cool and comfortable even in the hottest climates.
Linen
Linen is another excellent fabric for summer, known for its natural cooling properties and lightweight texture. Linen’s unique weave allows for increased airflow and quick drying, making it a favourite for summer ethnic wear. Linen kurtas in soft pastel shades like light blue, soft peach, or pale yellow can be both stylish and comfortable.
Georgette and Chiffon
Georgette and chiffon are lightweight, flowy fabrics that are ideal for summer festivities. These fabrics drape beautifully and add a touch of elegance to any outfit. Georgette palazzo suits and chiffon sarees in pastel hues are perfect for evening events and formal gatherings.
Tumblr media
Summer Color Palette
The summer color palette is all about light, soothing, and refreshing shades that help beat the heat while looking chic.
Blush Pink: Soft and feminine, blush pink is perfect for both casual and formal wear.
Mint Green: This cool and refreshing shade is ideal for summer days.
Baby Blue: Calm and serene, baby blue adds a touch of elegance to any outfit.
Lavender: This delicate shade exudes sophistication and grace.
Peach: Warm yet subtle, peach is a versatile color for various occasions.
Pale Yellow: Bask in the sunshine with the cheerful radiance of pale yellow, bringing a vibrant energy to your summer style.
Coral: Radiate with the vibrant warmth of coral, infusing your look with a playful yet sophisticated charm.
Soft Lilac: Embrace the delicate allure of soft lilac, exuding a sense of whimsical grace and enchantment.
Pale Turquoise: Dive into the tranquil depths of pale turquoise, capturing the essence of serene seas and endless skies.
Lemon Sorbet: Savor the sweet tanginess of lemon sorbet, a burst of citrusy freshness that brightens every summer day.
Summer Style Essentials: Elevate Your Look from Head to Toe
Accessorize with Summer Flair
Summer accessories should complement your outfits while keeping you cool and comfortable. Opt for wide-brimmed hats or stylish caps to shield your face from the sun. Sunglasses are essential for eye protection and add a touch of glam to any look. Lightweight scarves can be draped over shoulders or tied as headbands for a chic flair. Don’t forget statement jewellery like oversized earrings or layered necklaces to elevate your ensemble.
Hairstyles for Sunny Days
In the heat of summer, opt for hairstyles that keep you cool and stylish. Braids are a versatile option, from fishtail to Dutch braids, keeping hair off your neck. High ponytails or messy buns are effortless choices for a casual vibe. For a more polished look, try sleek low buns or elegant updos. Accessorize with hairpins, headbands, or scarves for added flair.
Radiant Summer Makeup Tips
Your makeup should enhance the softness of your pastel outfit. Go for a natural look with a hint of blush and a nude lip color. If you want to add a pop of color, a soft pink or coral lip can be a great choice. Keep the eye makeup light with neutral shades, and avoid heavy eyeliner or bold eyeshadow. Highlighting your cheekbones with a subtle shimmer can add a touch of glow that complements the pastel hues.
Choose the Right Footwear
Summer footwear should be both stylish and practical for warm weather activities. Sandals are a classic choice, ranging from simple flip-flops to strappy gladiator sandals. Espadrilles offer a touch of sophistication and comfort for day-to-night wear. Sneakers are perfect for casual outings and outdoor adventures. For a dressier look, opt for wedges or block heels that provide height without sacrificing stability. Choose breathable materials like canvas, leather, or cork to keep your feet cool and comfortable all summer long.
Tumblr media
Embracing Sustainability with Pastels
In recent years, the fashion industry has seen a significant shift towards sustainability, and ethnic wear is no exception. Pastel shades naturally lend themselves to sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, linen, and bamboo silk. These fabrics are not only eco-friendly but also incredibly breathable, making them ideal for the summer heat. By choosing pastels in sustainable materials, you can stay stylish while also making a positive impact on the environment. Supporting brands that prioritize ethical production practices and use natural dyes can further enhance the sustainability of your wardrobe.
Mixing and Matching Pastels
One of the advantages of pastels is their ability to mix and match seamlessly. Here are some tips on creating mix-and-match pastel ensembles:
Color Blocking: Pair different pastel shades together, such as a mint green kurta with a blush pink palazzo. This creates a harmonious and visually appealing outfit.
Prints and Patterns: Incorporate pastels with floral prints or geometric patterns. A pastel-colored kurta with a floral print paired with a solid pastel churidar can be a stunning combination.
Layering: Layering different pastel pieces can add depth to your outfit. For instance, a pastel yellow saree with a lavender blouse and a mint green dupatta can create a multi-dimensional look.

thank you i loved writing this i hope u enjoy! A03 link is here
FIRST PRIZE: A Halloween Special
Tumblr media
4.4K words
[GP!Karina x F!Reader]
CW: GP, alcohol, brief weed mention
Guest appearances: MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul and Solar
Your job had been cool about you working fully remotely during the height of the pandemic, but now after two years, they finally asked you to relocate. Your boss was able to compensate you for the move to D.C., which helped, but coming from San Francisco, the East coast culture shock was brutal. Starting over in a new city was intimidating, but at least you had your work bestie Karina to hang out with now that the two of you lived in the same city.
Having only seen and interacted with her through Zoom on your laptop about (mostly) work-related things, you were a little nervous that the friendship would fade or ruin your working relationship, but over the summer, you found it had the opposite effect. The more you saw of Karina’s authentic offline self, the more comfortable you felt with her, and being able to make Karina laugh felt like winning the lottery. You were absolutely harboring a crush on her, but you kept hoping maybe it would go away in time, too afraid to let her know about your feelings.
But months later when she invited you to a huge Halloween bash she was hosting, you knew your crush on her wasn’t going away any time soon. Her massive apartment, which she shared with her roommate, a girl named Winter you’d met a couple times, was decorated from the floor to the ceiling for the occasion. Perfectly placed cobwebs, a plethora of real, carved jack-o-lanterns lined the mantle of the living room’s fireplace, and the staircase that led up to their bedrooms had tiny, fake candles on each step, adding a warm glow. Karina had used plenty of LED lights too, leaving sections of the apartment cast in eerie purple and red light. Despite the free flowing alcohol, available weed and other Halloween goodies supplied for the party, it was Karina herself that had your rapt attention.
“You made it!” she said when you arrived, pulling you in for a hug. Her costume was decadent and extravagant, but not so over the top that it limited her range of motion. She’d chosen to go as Glinda the Good Witch. “I like Elphaba better,” she admitted, “but I didn’t want to commit to green skin.” Instead, she’d committed to a Swarovski-jeweled crown, a short, perfectly pink ruffle dress, complete with embroidery work near the bust and tiered tulle to add volume to the skirt. She had a silver, jewel-covered scepter that matched her crown, and wore extra blush to accent all of the pink details. On anyone else, it would’ve looked very cute, but Karina’s lethal beauty and aloof personality made the overall look devastatingly stunning instead.
When she pulled away from you, she eyed you and your costume with interest. “Talk about treasure,” she said. “Should I call you Jack or Jackie Sparrow?”
You felt yourself blush a bit. “Whatever you like,” you said. Karina smirked in response, taking another moment to look at the pieces you’d put together for your Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired outfit. You’d gone to great lengths to gender-bend your take on Jack Sparrow just the way you wanted, and based on Karina’s reaction, it seemed to be paying off. For your look, you’d combined a brown, satin corset top with bronze buckles, a black chiffon tiered waterfall maxi skirt, a black frill tie blouse with flared sleeves, a black lace necklace, brown knee length boots that matched your corset, a few long pearl necklaces to go with the lace necklace, gold hoop earrings, gold rings, and a brown faux leather pirate hat with a single feather on one side.
Karina suddenly reached forward, brushing her hand along your thigh. “What’s this?” she asked curiously. “A black lace garter? Wow, Y/N, you really pull out all the stops, don’t you?” You let out a shy laugh in response. Karina took your hand then. “Come on,” she said, leading you through the crowd. She pulled you into the kitchen, where Winter was busy grabbing more alcohol.
“Win-ter,” Karina sing-songed, “Look who's going to enter my costume contest!” Her roommate turned around and the two of you took a moment to take in each other’s costumes.
“No way,” you said, admiring her black, white and pink futuristic superhero look. “Uravity? From My Hero Academia?” Winter beamed. “ Finally , I’m recognized,” she said, coming over to give you a light hug, careful to avoid bonking you with her headpiece as she hugged you. “Everyone keeps thinking I’m some sort of Barbie Buzz Lightyear,” she said with a quick pout and eye roll. “But wow, look at you!” She took your hand, and you spun for her to show off all sides of your costume. She and Karina exchanged a brief look, and then Winter nodded. “So you're in the contest, huh? I bet you'll win” she said.
“Oh, that’s so sweet,” you said, “But I don’t know even know if I actually want t--”
Karina cut you off. “Trust me,” she said, placing a hand on your shoulder. Her glittery, pink nails stood out against the brown and black colors of your costume. “You want to be in this. My Halloween costume contests always come with prizes, even if you don't win! ”
“Really?” you asked. “Well what does the winner get then?”
Karina grinned. “Y/N, I can’t just tell you what the winner gets,” she said. “Where’s the fun in that? Why not play to win and find out for yourself,” she said. The way she said it was sassy, almost flirtatious. Wait. There's no way Karina would be flirting with me, you thought.
“Hmm…” you said, pretending to mull it over while moving toward the kitchen sink, where the drink supplies were. You grabbed a black plastic cup and looked around for ice, but Karina came over beside you, interrupting your search. “Let me,” she said, gently plucking your cup out of your hands while Winter handed her a bottle of deep purple Empress gin. The gin’s purple color turned pinkish when she added a splash of lime and tonic water to the gin, but it remained largely purple even after ice was added too, letting you know the drink had way more alcohol than mixer in it. You went to take a sip, but Karina stopped you. “Wait,” she said, reaching for a small, plastic packet and ripping it open.
“What's that?” you asked, tipping your cup away.
“Relax,” Karina said, showing you a bit of the light, powdery substance in her palm. She dipped a finger in it and put it up to her lips, licking the substance off. “Edible glitter,” she explained. “See?” She dipped her finger back into the glitter and then held it up near your mouth.
“Try it,” she said, and you found yourself obeying and opening your mouth for her, tongue slightly out. Karina lightly pressed the pad of her finger to your tongue, and a wave of heat rolled over you. If the edible glitter had any taste at all, it was completely overpowered by the salty taste of Karina’s fingertip. Karina’s eyes flicked from your tongue, then up at you. Your cheeks burned at the intimacy.
“So… you'll be in the costume contest, then?” she asked, taking a small step back. You held out your cup for Karina to add some edible glitter to your drink, which she did.
“Oh alright,” you said. “Why not?”
The rest of the party was a blur. Karina insisted on making all of your drinks, leaving you beyond buzzed but feeling extremely sociable. You chatted with a girl dressed as a ‘hot version of Moo Deng’, danced and shouted ‘Yes, chef!’ with a few folks dressed as the cast of The Bear, and drunkenly gushed over a stunning sapphic couple dressed as Statue of Liberty Chappell Roan and Pink Pony Club Chappell Roan. On occasion throughout the night, Karina would steal you away to dance to Rob Zombie or Kim Petras. A few times while you danced, you'd find her suddenly behind you, hand lightly brushing over your waist. Your brain was operating at a hundred miles a minute, but you put it out of your mind so you could focus on meeting a few of Karina and Winter’s other mutual friends: a girl named NingNing who rocked a modern Cruella DeVil costume, and another girl named Giselle who was dressed as a high glam-drag version of HIM from the Powerpuff Girls– sans facial hair.
Just after midnight, Karina gathered everyone for the costume contest in the spacious living room. You joined the other contestants in the center of the room: Statue of Liberty Chappell, hot Moo Deng, and Giselle.
“Before we start,” Karina said, “I should let all of the contestants know that second and third place prizes will be given out here at the party, but first place will need to stick around afterward to claim the grand prize, okay?” The four of you nodded while the rest of the party attendees applauded lightly in anticipation. Fourth place wound up going to ‘hot Moo Deng,’ and Giselle took third.
Karina presented Giselle with a plastic, orange pumpkin bucket intended for trick-or-treating. There was a couple handfuls of candy inside, but in addition to pumpkin-shaped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and candy corn, Karina and Winter had filled the buckets with mini bottles of alcohol, edibles, and liquid hydration packets. Then, Karina gave Giselle a celebratory strawberry lemon drop shot, which was, of course, perfectly pink to match her Glinda costume. Everyone clinked their plastic cups together, ready to take a sip of their drinks while Giselle had her shot. Her large claw attachments, though, made her unable to take the tiny shot glass out of Karina’s hand. For a supposedly good witch, Karina seemed extra amused by Giselle's struggle. With her other free hand, Karina held Giselle’s face, her thumb on one of Giselle’s cheeks, the rest of her fingers on the other.
“Aw, does our big bad villain need some help?” she asked mockingly. Giselle feigned annoyance and nodded. Karina whispered something in Giselle’s ear then, and then Giselle rolled her eyes for real before opening her mouth. Everyone cheered as Karina knocked the shot back into Giselle’s mouth. Karina laughed, making a show out of having Giselle open her mouth again to prove she’d swallowed it all.
Your hands started to sweat a bit while you and Statue of Liberty Chappell Roan waited to find out who the winner would be. You honestly had no idea which way the costume contest would go. You knew your costume was pretty good overall, but Statue of Liberty Chappell, whose real name was Moonbyul, had really gone all out, even painting herself the same color as the actual Statue of Liberty. To hype up the crowd, Karina took the partygoers’ temperature by standing behind Moonbyul, holding a hand over the girl’s head.
“Who’s feeling sexy Statue of Liberty Chappell Roan?” she asked, and the crowd responded by applauding as Moonbyul posed, holding up her torch triumphantly. When the clapping died down, she moved behind you, and you knew her hand was hovering somewhere above your pirate hat. “What about our sexy Jackie Sparrow?” she asked, and the crowd erupted in louder applause, including a few wolf whistles from somewhere in the back.
Karina grinned at the partygoers. “I thought so too,” she said matter-of-factly. “It looks like we have a consensus, then. Second place goes to Statue of Liberty Chappell Roan!” There was more applause, and Pink Pony Club Chappell, whose real name was Solar, shrieked in excitement for her girlfriend. Winter presented Moonbyul with her own plastic pumpkin bucket full of the same goodies Giselle had received. Another strawberry lemon drop shot was brought out for Moonbyul. But instead of letting Moonbyul take the shot herself, Karina held onto it.
“Since it’s my party, I want to do things my way, tonight” Karina said. “So open up, Chappell,” she said, grinning mischievously. “Forgive me, Solar,” she said, turning back toward Pink Pony Club Chappell Roan for a moment before coaxing Moonbyul’s mouth open so she could pour the shot down Moonbyul’s throat. “Now for those of you who have been to my parties before, you know the second place winner usually also comes with a kiss from me, but girl…” Karina said, “Keep those green Statue of Liberty lips away from me! She’s alllll yours, Solar,” Karina said with a laugh.
A kiss? ! What kind of costume contest between friends was this? Before you could ruminate on it, Karina was beside you, taking your hand and holding it up proudly. “And now give it up for this year’s costume contest winner!” The crowd roared with drunken cheers. You felt Karina’s hand near your thigh again. “Don’t you all just love this garter? I think it’s my favorite part,” she said, her fingers trailing over the black lace detail. Another strawberry lemon drop shot was handed to Karina, and she turned to face you.
“You know the drill by now, don’t you?” she asked playfully. “Open up, Y/N.” The tart tang of lemon, alcohol, and a bit of sweetness from the strawberry burned while it made its way down your throat. She then leaned in, her lips brushing against your ear while she whispered to you. “You’ll get your prize later, okay?”
The party reverted back to the way it was, but not for long. By the time 1:30 AM rolled around, the party was winding down as some partygoers headed out to make appearances at other parties, while others trickled out to hit the clubs before they closed. You collapsed on the couch, making conversation with the last few party stragglers while they gathered their shoes and costume parts, getting ready to leave.
“Are you gonna be okay t’get home?” You looked up to see Giselle standing above you, swaying lightly, clearly a bit drunk. You sat up and nodded, scooching over so she could sit down and focus the remainder of her energy on ordering an Uber home.
“This was sooo fun,” she said, her words blurring together a bit. She pulled off her costume’s red claw attachments so she could use her hands normally again. Then she turned to you. “Hey, we should go– er, hang out sometime,” she said. You almost missed what she said entirely, distracted by the sleek, black thigh high boots she was wearing and the way her red fishnets popped beneath them. And wait-- is that part latex? How on earth were all of Karina’s close friends this hot, too?
“Hm?” you said, needing a moment to register what she’d just said. “Oh! I’d like that,” you said, smiling. Forgetting about the rideshare app open on her phone, she handed the small rectangle to you. “Put your number in!” she said, bouncing a bit. Her shoulder brushed against yours, sending a tiny, electric jolt through your right arm. You started to feel warm as Giselle rested her chin on your shoulder to watch as you swiped away from the pending rideshare pickup and tapped the phone icon to add your number.
“Can I tell you something?” she asked, sitting back a bit when you were done. You returned her phone to her and nodded. “Karina’s into you,” she blurted. You threw Giselle a quizzical look while your heartbeat raced. “Wh-what?” you asked. “Where’d you get that idea from?”
Giselle just giggled to herself, rummaging through her bag to make sure all of her belongings were still present, then looped her arm through the handle of her Halloween bucket prize. “She does this every year,” she replied. “You’ll see. That glittery scepter of hers isn’t the only disco stick she likes to use.” She stood up, her driver just a minute or two away now. Giselle flipped her long, black hair back and gave you one last look over her shoulder. “She’d fucking kill me if she knew I said this…” she gave you one last onceover. “If you aren’t satisfied with your prize… let me know.”
“Huh?” you said, but Giselle didn’t explain. She was already heading toward the front door, where Karina was hugging NingNing and Winter goodbye. Wait , you thought. Didn’t Winter live here? Why was she leaving? You looked around for any other remaining partygoers, but realized you were about to be alone.
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” Karina said apologetically, coming over to you after everyone was officially gone. You stood and walked with her into the kitchen. “Did you have fun?” she asked. She poured you a glass of water as you nodded. “Your friends are really nice,” you said, taking the cup from her. “Especially Giselle.” Karina’s eyes flashed with an emotion you couldn’t read, but then she recovered and smiled. “Don’t I know it,” she said. “They’re the best.”
With the music at a much softer level and the purple and red LED lights off, the main floor of the apartment was dim and cozy, with the only remaining sources of light coming from the moonlight streaming in through the bay windows, the jack-o-lanterns on the fireplace mantle and the tiny, battery-powered fake flicker candles that stood on the edge of the steps leading upstairs. Your heart was pounding nervously in your chest now, unsure of what to expect. It was the first time you’d ever been alone with Karina in her apartment– normally Winter was there.
“Hey, where’d Winter go?” you asked, trying to keep your voice casual. Karina shrugged a bit, walking back into the living room. “Oh,” she said, glancing back to make sure you followed her out. “She and NingNing decided to hit the club for a bit. I’m sure she’ll be back in a while,” she said. Anxiety quelled in your stomach. Something told you Winter would not be coming back anytime soon.
Karina instructed you to sit back down on the couch. “Are you ready for your prize?” she asked, grinning, and you nodded a little. “You’re not going to like, have a man in a bloody clown costume jump out at me or anything are you?” you asked. Karina laughed. “Y/N! You're so funny right now. Are you nervous ?” she asked teasingly.
“N-no, no,” you said. Of course Karina wouldn’t scare you, you thought. She was more into treats than tricks. Right? Before you could think it through, you found yourself adding, “If it’s anything like Moonbyul’s, I’m sure I’ll like it.”
“Oh?” Karina asked, taking off her crown and shaking out her hair. “Why’s that?”
You bit your tongue lightly as you watched her fingers run through her perfectly sleek, shiny hair. You absolutely could not say anything about her prizes coming with the promise of a kiss. Fuck . “Uh…” you lost your train of thought. “The…”
Karina smirked a little, watching your wheels spin as you tried to come up with a response. “I see,” she said, cutting you off. “Y/N,” she continued, and you looked up at her. “Close your eyes and wait for your prize, okay?” You nodded, glancing down before closing your eyes. For a moment, everything was silent and still, and then you felt added weight on the couch. You caught a whiff of Karina’s perfume, letting you know she was beside you now. And then you felt something– no, not something, some one brush against your lips. Karina was kissing you .
Desire spread through your body instantly. Your first instinct was to lean into it, but your head spun, and you weren’t sure if it was the alcohol or Karina’s dizzying presence. You leaned back for a moment and your eyes fluttered open. Karina’s face was just inches away from yours.
“Is this okay?” she asked you softly, and you nodded. She leaned in and both of your eyes closed again while she kissed you. Her lips were warm and her tongue tasted sweet as it brushed against yours. Before you knew it, she was stripping you of your pirate hat, tossing it aside as she helped you lay down on the couch. Karina hovered above you, pressing herself gently against your corseted abdomen. Your breath hitched a little, making your chest heave as Karina’s hands wandered over your body lightly. Her hair tickled the sides of your face, waterfalling back over her shoulders while the two of you continued to make out. All of your senses were overwhelmed by her– her scent, her taste, and oh god , her touch.
But just a few minutes later, she stopped and sat up. “Are you alright?” you asked, slightly breathless. She nodded and stood, then helped you up. “How would you feel about getting out of these costumes?” she asked, her head cocked to one side.
Before you knew it, Karina was leading you upstairs. You barely had time to recognize that you were in Karina's room. She turned on a bit of soft light placed strategically underneath her bed so it wouldn’t blind either of you. “Do you want the rest of your prize?” she asked you. You nodded. Karina looked you up and down. “Then turn around,” she said. You did so, confused for a moment, but then you felt a tug on your corset. Karina was undoing your costume. She made quick work of the corset and your blouse, leaving you naked from the waist up. You felt her fingertips trail over your shoulders and down your arms, but just as soon as she was touching you, she stopped. You heard the sound of a zipper from behind you, and started to turn around.
“Ah, ah,” Karina said. “Not yet,” she said. You heard the sound of her dress fall to the floor and your heart skipped a beat in anticipation. Karina’s hands returned to your body as she gently slid down your maxi skirt and helped you out of your boots. Her fingers wandered back toward your neck to remove your pearl necklaces, but she left the black, lace collar. “Leave it,” she said when you brought a hand up to touch it. “I like it.” One of her hands gripped your waist while the other toyed with the black garter around your thigh. “Leave this, too…for now,” she murmured. Once the two of you were fully out of your costumes she pressed herself against you from behind. Her hands wandered over the front of your body and then suddenly, you felt it. You let out a small gasp. Karina was hard.
Giselle’s disco stick comment echoed in your ear for a moment. “Y/N?” Karina’s lips were near your ear, her voice soft. “Are you okay?”
You nodded wordlessly, resisting the urge to grind against her. Your mouth watered a little. “C-can I turn around yet?” you asked. Karina answered by physically turning your body to face her. You leaned in to kiss her immediately while also using one hand to reach forward, gingerly taking her cock in your hand. Karina moaned lightly as she kissed you, her hips jutting forward to meet your touch. The second Karina’s lips separated from yours, you dropped to your knees, curious to see what kind of other pretty sounds you could elicit from her. Karina let out a small huff of amusement, watching fixedly as you took her in your mouth.
“Eager, huh?” Karina murmured. Her teasing was short lived though as you bobbed your head on her length. You grew wet quickly, shifting your position a bit to try and relieve the ache between your thighs. Karina ran her hands through your hair, gathering it at the back of your head in a makeshift ponytail to keep it out of your face while you blew her. You quickly realized, though, her true intent was to be able to guide your mouth on her cock, testing to see how much you could handle. When she’d had enough, she pulled you up, only to push you back onto her bed a moment later.
You were immediately hit by a wave of her scent, and then she was on top of you. She backed up a little and then leaned down, using her teeth to slide your garter down your thigh. Soon, it joined the rest of your costume on the floor while moved up and closer to you, kissing her way from your waist to your neck. You shivered a bit at her light touch, your hands weaving through her hair as she went. She used her knees to spread your legs, then pinned one of your wrists down to the bed.
You wanted to hold Karina’s gaze when she finally slid into you, but after the first couple inches, your eyes rolled back and closed. Full . You were absolutely full of Karina. It took her a minute or so to bottom out in you. By the time she did, both of you were breathing heavily. You let out a tiny whimper the moment she started to move, and she consoled you with a few kisses while she slowly, slowly picked up speed.
You felt magnetized to Karina as her body pressed tightly against yours while she fucked into you. Your wetness soon made it easy for her to pump her slick cock into you, and Karina took advantage of that. Her hips slammed into you as she went even faster, burying her head in your neck while your free hand wandered and explored over her body.
You were lost in each other's rhythms and hungry, fervent sounds until suddenly, Karina slowed down significantly. “Shit,” she breathed, “Oh, fuck…” she pulled out quickly. She came on your near-ruined cunt, rope after rope of cum covering you. Watching her cum nearly sent you over the edge, but you knew you’d need more.
The two of you said nothing for a few moments as you caught your breath, trying to wrap your head around the night.
“Karina?” you said.
“Y/N?” she replied in the same tone as you.
“I’m…” you hesitated for a moment, but your aching cunt forced you to continue. “I’m on birth control– I mean, just so you know,” you said, your voice tapering off slightly.
Karina’s eyebrows flew up, but then she grinned. She gently flipped you onto your stomach, rearranging you so your ass was up toward her waist. “Hmm,” she said thoughtfully. “This time,” she said, lining herself up with your slick entrance, “I want you to touch yourself while I fuck you, okay?”

CHAPTER 3 — it takes a lemon related accident to get a man to talk.
Tumblr media
TODAY IS THE DAY YOU FINALLY FIND OUT WHAT PARK SUNGHOON’S FUCKING DEAL IS. You can only go on for so long of nothing but ominous eye contact and two-worded conversations before you start considering manslaughter (three weeks). You’re going to make him tell you what his goddamned problem is within today even if he ends up punching you in the face (because he always looks like he’s on the brink of doing that, anyway).
The first step to this operation is observation. You have been discreetly watching him this past week, taking note of his daily routine and there are two notable things that you have discovered— one, he leaves his room every single day at three in the afternoon, and two, he returns home at nine in the evening. That’s enough information for you to work with. You have this thing in the bag.
Your next step is preparing for battle. By one in the afternoon, you’ve already showered, blow dried your hair, and dressed in the prettiest outfit you quickly pulled from your closet (a nice chiffon maxi skirt paired with a lacy camisole because nothing lowers a man’s guard better than bare shoulders). You even put on makeup today. If this plan ends up being a failure, you’re going to kill Sunghoon and then yourself.
“You look pretty today,” Jay informs you when you invade his room for the sole purpose of having an outfit check in front of his full-length mirror. “I mean, you’re always pretty. It’s just you’re even prettier today. Like when even though you always make rose tteokbokki for your friends everyday, for some reason the color is just a lot more vibrant this day and it looks extra delicious?”
“Thanks.” You give him a pat on the back and exit the room.
Right when you start climbing up the stairs back to the third floor, your two-forty five alarm goes off. Perfect. It’s all going according to plan. You position yourself in the small space between your room and his, leaning against the archway with a feigned air of nonchalance.
The familiar click of a lock breaks the silence. You prepare to strike.
“Hey.”
It’s almost funny how Sunghoon immediately flinches at the sound of your voice, but you’re not here to laugh. You’re here to strike a conversation because for some reason, that’s completely impossible with the guy you’re currently staring down. He’s already recovered from the initial shock. You push through even though he’s scaring you shitless. “Can we talk for a sec?”
Apparently, you cannot talk for a sec because Sunghoon immediately starts walking, but you’ve foreseen this. You know he’d ignore you so you quickly kick your foot against the other side of the opening, barricading him inside this small corner with an outstretched leg.
Bam!
“I asked if we could talk.”
You watch as his eyes fly open in shock, taking a step forward only to jump back from your rather aggressive obstruction. Your arms are crossed, waiting for him to finally open his fucking mouth and surrender. He’s got nowhere to run.
Or, so you thought. Because he does have a way to run, and that is under your leg when he slides underneath as if it’s a fucking limbo stick. It gets a little breezy under your skirt when he skids right by. What the fuck. Is the idea of having to talk to you really that abhorrent to him? Are you seriously considering chasing after him right now?”
“Hey, wait!”
Yes, you are.
Sunghoon is fast. He’s running and running down the hall, down the stairs to the second floor, and you’re right at his fucking heels. You’ve prepared endlessly for this day and you have no intentions on letting him slip away like a slimy lizard. However, you might have made some flagrant miscalculations with your physical abilities, because the moment you reach the bottom floor, Sunghoon is widening the gap, and you’re just about to hack out your lungs and die.
How much stamina does this bastard have? Heeseung emerges from Jake’s room the moment Sunghoon speeds by, and you just barely manage to hold onto the door for support before you give up and start panting. “What’s going on? Are you two playing tag?”
You collapse to the ground. This is too much cardio. “No, I’m trying to kill him,” you say in between bated breaths. “But nevermind, I can’t do this anymore. Can you help me up? I can’t feel my fucking legs.”
When you look up at Heeseung, you notice that he’s brought a brick form of Iron Man from your friend’s room, cradling the red and yellow figure to his chest as hesitant eyes stare down at you with flushed cheeks. “I—I can. I can help,” he chokes out.
“Then help me?”
He simply stares at the arm you have reached out, waiting in the air for his retrieval. You sigh, holding onto the door instead to pull yourself up. Honestly, you shouldn’t have expected anything. “Heeseung, are you mysophobic?”
“What? No, what makes you say that?” The fact that looks relieved that you gave up on him plucks on your irritation. “I love my gay friends.”
You blink. “Nevermind. Can you at least tell me where Sunghoon is going? He usually leaves the house at this time, so I’m curious. Do you have an idea?”
“Oh, he has work,” he answers. “Hoon has the afternoon shifts at The Lounge. I think he works all days on weekdays.”
The Lounge is a cafe near your university (not that you’ve been there. Overpriced ice coffee isn’t exactly within your weekly budget). It’s a little far from this neighborhood and as far as you can recall Sunghoon goes to a different uni for sports medicine, so you’re not sure why he’s working there out of all places. “Alright. Thanks.” You’re careful not to brush against Heeseung when you pass by. One day, you’ll be dealing with him and his suspected germ problem with you, but at the moment your plate is still full with a different problematic male.
You fish for your wallet and phone in your room before crawling back downstairs. However, just when you’re about to grab your sandals from the foyer, you’re stopped by Beomgyu blocking your path. He’s leaning against the wall, waving the PD&J in front of your face (Jay was onto something when he gave it that nickname). “Pay up,” he demands. All these men are stressing you out.
“Why?”
For the sake of maintaining an amicable relationship with your housemates, you surrendered your jar monopoly and agreed that you’d all be using the money for additional grocery budget. However, you do not understand why the fuck you have to pay up now.
“Indecent attire,” is Beomgyu’s justification.
“Beomgyu, my tits aren’t even out.”
He parrots your statement in an annoying voice and you desperately want to punch him. If he wants to pick a fight, he should at the very least hide his blushing and look you in the eye. Your battle armor is working a little too well. “Move. I have another bastard to chase down.” But you don’t have time for him. Goddamnit, you have more men to confront after you’re done with Sunghoon. You shove past Beomgyu and leave the house, on your way to The Lounge with an unshakeable determination to fuck Park Sunghoon up.
It takes you a good twenty minutes to arrive at The Lounge, but you don’t walk in the cafe immediately. Through the large front windows, you spot Sunghoon serving a tray of drinks to some customers behind the counter. Oh, so he can be a normal person if he wants to. He’s even smiling and shit (he has a pretty smile. Why doesn’t he smile at you like that). With a huff, you push open the entrance and bulldoze through the door, stomping up to the counter while planning out your order in your head.
“Welcome! How may I hel—” Sunghoon’s customer service smile glitches when he realizes it’s you. “—he-help you?”
“Hi! Can I have an iced americano without the ice?”
“I’m—I’m sorry?”
You give him the sweetest, honey-dipped stretch of the lips that you can muster. “Iced americano. No ice. Oh, and can you get rid of the espresso shot, too?”
Sunghoon tries to clarify your order. You talk in circles until you finally settle with a glass of lemonade. This is the first time you’ve heard him talk this much which is honestly such a shame because he really does have a nice voice. Unfortunately, he goes mute around you unless his literal job actually requires him to communicate.
He scribbles your name onto the plastic cup and he asks if you don’t mind waiting. You settle on the table nearest to the counter because you want to keep stressing him out. He is. He has been very stressed from the moment you entered the store and it’s evident from how you hear a resounding swear from his workstation when he accidentally puts in too much lemon reserve in your cup and has to remake your drink.
You thought he’d finally gotten over his bad habit of staring, but you catch him flashing looks at you from time to time and at the moment— it’s rather prolonged. He’s looking at you so intently as he puts on the cup sleeve and calls out your name. You fear that you might have made a mistake because if there’s anything you know well about Sunghoon, it’s the fact that he has a very intense and very intimidating stare.
Like right now, as he continues staring when you get up from your seat to retrieve your drink. Seriously, what’s his fucking problem? You intend on staying here until the end of his shift and maybe corner him in the alley next to the cafe. You might be mildly afraid of him, but you’re not a pussy. You’re gonna settle this once and for all.
“Here’s your order.”
Sunghoon hands over your lemonade but for some reason, he doesn’t let go. You furrow your brows, pulling the cup towards you but it’s like his fingers are glued to the sleeve. He looks like he wants to say something, playing tug of war on your drink as he stalls, but you’re really getting annoyed now. A sharp tug on your end has the drink slipping out from both of your hands— painting a nice, yellow tinted splash all over the top that Beomgyu deemed indecent.
Now, it actually is indecent.
You’re speechless. Sunghoon’s face is flushed scarlet. Thank fucking god you ordered a cold drink.
Tumblr media
Things weren’t supposed to go this way.
It’s not yet time for his break, but Sunghoon is already pacing back and forth in front of the breakroom, biting on his thumbnail as a mixture of anxiety and shame floods through his veins after royally screwing up. Fuck, he fucked up. He’s absolutely, absolutely, violently fucked himself in the ass and he has no idea how to salvage this.
He just wanted to apologize for sliding under your skirt earlier at the house, but the words wouldn’t jump out of his fucking mouth so he tried stalling and ended up giving you an unscheduled, lemon-flavored bath. His voice just stops working. It goes into total shutdown when he’s looking at you. It’s pathetic.
Normally, he can talk to people just fine. He gets into arguments with his sister over the phone on a daily basis. Hell, it’s even routinary for him to tell Jay to eat shit.
But something about pretty girls with equally pretty smiles makes it harder to string together sentences, okay?
And It’s not just a him problem. All of your house residents can’t talk to you normally, either, but he doesn’t want to stutter like a dumbass in front of you like Soobin and Heeseung hyung. Jake doesn’t count because he doesn’t even perceive you as a woman.
However because of that fear, he ends up not saying anything altogether. It’s hopeless. He’s as good as out of the running for the fucking bet they called (not that he thought he had a chance to win, anyway).
The breakroom door clicks open. He jitters on the spot.
“Sunghoon?”
Your head pops out from the crack in the door, your now clothed shoulder also peeking through. When you walk out, you’re now wearing the spare top he’s supposed to change into after his gym session later. Now that shirt is on you, and it isn’t helping his you-triggered state of emergency at all. “Thanks for the change of clothes.”
“I—I remade your drink.” For the second time. “Sorry about that.” Okay. You’re doing great, Sunghoon. You’re so cool, so awesome, and if you keep this up, you’ll be home free. You can do it.
You chase the straw with your lips. Why is he staring at your lips? “Sorry for spilling my drink all over me, or sorry about running away from me earlier like I had an infectious disease?”
He gulps. You’re really not making it easy for him to talk to you.
“Look, I think Heeseung acting as if I had cooties is enough of a constant attack to my pride. I might actually snap if you start avoiding me like the plague, too. Seriously.” Sunghoon remembers that he also twisted your arm at one point. He should add that to his list of apologies.
“Th—that wasn’t my intention. I was just afraid of running late.”
“Sure,” you scoff. “That doesn’t explain why the fuck you keep staring at me like you want me dead, though.” Looks like he has a lot more to apologize for. “Sunghoon, be honest. Do you have a problem with me? Like, have I done anything to offend you or something?”
“No, of course not!” he exclaims. “It’s just that—”
And like usual, his voice breaks down. Out of order, like a rundown machine. This is the fucking problem, it’s always the fucking problem, but he can’t just tell you that you make him feel nervous, can he? He can’t tell you that his vocal chords rupture when you’re around, making it impossible for him to talk, so he resorts to staring and staring and staring and hoping that if he stares long enough, you’ll somehow read his mind and get the idea of what he wants to say.
That clearly hasn’t been working. In fact, it’s making things worse so he has to come clean and oh god, you’re gonna think he’s so lame and he’ll never live past this moment until the day he dies a miserable, lonely death.
It’s the 21st century— why isn’t mindreading an freaking option yet? You look so genuinely upset that he can feel his heart clench up like an asshole. He should just rip his eyes out to repent.
“I’ll...try to stop staring, I’m sorry.”
“No, that’s not the problem, Sunghoon.” Your tone is filled with exasperation and he’s just driven further into guilt. “I have a feeling that you simply just have an unfortunate case of the resting bitch face, but you know what would help? If you actually say ‘hi’ instead of just ominously staring at me. That way I’d know you’re not preparing to throttle me.”
Is his blank expression really that bad? His brows furrow. He’s never gotten any bad feedback about his face before.
But here he goes again. Thinking his thoughts instead of speaking out loud. You let out a sigh and he feels infinitely worse, but he can’t keep stalling because he has to get back to work, and his co-worker is already giving him impatient looks, and he feels like talking is only making things worse. “Can you wait for a while? My shift isn’t over yet, but my break is in thirty minutes.”
“Yeah, sure. Sorry for disturbing you.”
While he’s making drinks and serving customers, Sunghoon makes sure to plot out his entire explanation speech so that you won’t think he’s entirely pathetic. But thirty minutes go by so quickly and the moment his break arrives and he’s pulling out the chair in front of you, all the paragraphs he’s carefully constructed disappear into nothing. Gone. Head absolutely empty save for the thought that this almost feels like a date. But this is not a date. This is a fucking interrogation.
“Say your piece.”
You don’t even give him a chance to prepare. You’re ruthless.
“Well—” So, he starts. He skips over the part that you make him nervous but that aside, he makes the confession that although he does find it difficult to talk to you due to a certain, specific, undisclosable reason (because you’re a girl and you’re pretty), he definitely isn’t plotting your murder, and Sunghoon’s cadence becomes slower, a lot more jagged when he notices the expression on your face. You’re smiling, but it’s not the pretty smiles you usually give him. This one feels a lot more ominous. Is this how you feel when he accidentally stares at you for too long? Should he be scared?
“—And that’s it, but why...why are you looking at me like that…?”
“It’s nothing.” It’s definitely not nothing. Sunghoon’s eyes follow your movement as you rise from your seat. “What kind of drinks do the rest of the guys like?”
“Jay likes americanos and Soobin hyung— wait.” He’s also up now. He doesn’t know he’s standing up, but he is. “You’re leaving already?”
“Do you want me to stay?”
At this point, you’re just doing this on purpose. What the fuck is he supposed to say to that? “Are we good…now?” hesitantly, he tries to make sure. Something is off and he knows it.
“Yeah. We’re good,” you hum, finishing up your lemonade and leaving it on the table. “See you at home. Oh wait, the drinks.” Sunghoon feels uneasy with this conclusion, but he wordlessly follows you to the counter anyway and takes your takeout orders. You’re just gonna go? Why aren’t you making fun of him for being a loser? Why are you just taking the drinks from him without mentioning anything?
“Thanks. I’ll come by more often,” you tell him, and it just furthers his confusion. “I can also bring some of my friends so you can keep practicing how to talk to pretty girls. Oh, this latte is yours.”
Ah.
Of course.
There it is.
“Hoon?” You wave a hand in front of his eyes. “Sorry, am I making you nervous again?”
Sunghoon wants to die.
“Can you just— can’t you just forget everything I told you?”
You shake your head and flash him a smile. The smile that always makes him stupid and nervous. Dammit, why do you have to be so pretty? Why must your smile be so pretty and erode his brain into mush? It doesn’t help when you reach out a hand to give him two soft pats on the cheek. It doesn’t help when the warmth of your touch lingers and burrows deep into his skin. “No way. Not when you’ve finally made so much progress! Let’s keep working on it, okay?”
Sunghoon is finally able to breathe the moment you exit The Lounge, and he nearly collapses into the ground.
The misunderstanding between the both of you has been cleared up— at the cost of his pride and dignity (not that he has much of that in the first place). How the fuck is he supposed to face you after all of this, much less talk to you.
Words. What even are they?

Tumblr media
The trio makes their way into the boutique and Y/N pauses at the appearance of it. She’d never be able to afford anything here, which makes her nervous about the fact that Rafe is going to buy her something. The idea of suggesting somewhere cheaper crosses her mind, but it would not fit into the prestige of the event. She hates that he’s had to buy her many things because she doesn’t want him to think she is taking advantage of him, but he is always insisting on paying for everything. He rests his hand on the small of her back and laughs at the excitement on Nancy’s face. She looks around the store, immediately running to one of the racks. Nancy pulls out multiple different dresses in her sister’s size and Y/N wants to stop her, but Rafe’s encouragement clouds her words. His actions mirror the fourteen-year-olds. Eventually, she is shown to a changing room and she has no say in the dresses she tries on.
The first dress she tries on is an a-line ruched chiffon floor-length eucalyptus dress. She walks out and does a little twirl for the awaiting pair. Rafe has a sappy look on his face that she doesn’t notice. “You look amazing,” Nancy praises, taking pictures of the girl in the dress. Y/N gives her a grimace, “I like the colour, but these sleeves are riding up my armpits and I really don’t feel like being photographed touching there.” She gets back into the changing room to change into a blue flutter-away layered skater dress. This dress makes her feel self-conscious. She walks out of the room with her hands smoothing over the back of her skirt to make sure it doesn’t expose her bum. She doesn’t want to leave the room, but her sister would want to see the dress.
Rafe’s eyes almost bulged out of his sockets at the sight of the short dress. He very badly wants a peek at what is underneath but knows it is wrong. He adverts his eyes at the look of discomfort on her face, “I don’t want to police what you wear. But I will make the suggestion that that dress might be a little short for a children's charity event.” She sighs that he agrees with her opinion and quickly goes back into the room. He would buy whatever dress she wants, but she wants him to like the dress at least if he is going to be spending so much money. The next dress is a pink mesh ruffle hem maxi dress. Even though the dress is her size, she struggles with putting on the garment. She practically waddles out of the changing room.
Nancy makes a face that signals to Y/N that this is not the dress and quickly goes back inside. She looks at the dusty blue a-line v-neck floor-length chiffon dress in the mirror and smiles happily at it. The cut of the top compliments her boobs in a tasteful manner. The flow of the dress allows her to move in the dress comfortably. She twirls in the dress with a little giggle and then goes outside to show them the dress. She feels a little nervous about going out because she really wants them to like it.
When she comes out of the dressing room, Rafe is rendered speechless at the beauty before him. The high slit of her dress shows off her legs and he thinks about how it would look wrapped around his waist as he makes sweet love to her. The teasing of her breasts in her top makes him wonder how it would feel to press his lips on them. However, the most exciting thing for him about the dress is how the blue colour flatters his eye colour. In some way, it’s a way for him to tell the world that she is his. He finds a slight bit of disappointment filling him when he realizes that she isn’t really his. He can see the anxious looks on her face and does what he can to ease her feelings. He stands up from his seat and gently wraps his arm around her waist from the front, placing his forehead on hers, “This dress is amazing. I think this is the one.” Her lips turn into a brightening smile that makes him want to melt. “I think so too,” she whispers.
——
The amount of press at the event makes her nervous and Rafe notices this. He gives her hand a squeeze as he helps her out of the car. It doesn’t feel close enough for him as they walk up the steps of the event space, so he basically glues himself to her side with his hand on her lower back for comfort. She looks up at him with a smile. They greet the occasional person before going over to their table. “Later on, I’m going to need your help with picking items to bid on in the silent auction. But first, I want you to meet my dad,” he murmurs against her ear. She nods into his touch. A voice coming from behind causes them to separate, “Well, if it isn’t the woman, who captured my son’s heart.” They both turn to see Ward Cameron.
Y/N immediately stands up and holds her hand out for him to shake. “It is very nice to meet you, Mr. Cameron. I’m Y/N Y/L/N,” she introduces, being brought into a hug by the older man. He lets out a playful chuckle, “Please, call me, Ward. Mr. Cameron is only for when you are at work with my son. And I am fully aware of who you are, Y/N. He never stops talking about you.” “He doesn’t?” She moves a strand of hair behind her ear.
“He sure does. I hear you are a pretty great assistant. Is it what you see yourself doing for the rest of your life? Not judging if it is, I just need to be ready if you are planning on leaving because Rafe would be very upset.”
“I understand, it would be very strange for me too. I don’t plan on being an assistant forever. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do. I have an accounting degree but I quickly realized after graduating that I did not want that life.”
“Ahh, the age-old question of what to do with your life. That’s completely understandable. Just give me a warning before you leave, please, so I’m prepared to console Rafe.”
“Of course.”
Rafe chooses this time to interrupt the moment between his father and Y/N. “Excuse me, Dad. I need to steal her away to place bids on some items,” he excuses, helping her up from the table and guiding her to the silent auction tables. The first items aren’t of any interest to the couple, but Rafe is stopped in his tracks in front of a couples' spa retreat. “I don’t need your input to know that this is what we should bet on,” he states, leaning down to bid more money than necessary. She places her mouth next to his ear, “Spas are great, but we aren’t exactly a real couple.”
“Doesn’t matter. I think we could use some relaxation. Let me pamper us.”
She doesn’t say anything as they continue down the line and bid on a couple more things, like an accessory set, an art class run by famous artists and a trip to Tuscany, which Rafe would love to show Y/N around. He isn’t sure what has gotten to him, but he has a little more confidence in himself and he wants their relationship to be real. He wants to let himself pretend that she truly has feelings for him. They have a few drinks and are just tipsy enough to cheer out loud every time they win a bid.
While waiting for the big ticket item to be revealed for the live auction, Rafe engages in a conversation with his dad while Y/N talks to Topper, who is sitting beside her. “I see he hasn’t driven you crazy just yet,” he remarks, looking over toward Rafe. She follows his eyesight with a smile, “Nope. He’s actually been really great. The perfect boyfriend.”
“That’s a shame. I was really hoping that I could have my shot with you.”
“Haha, very funny. You know you and I could never work. Plus, I don’t think you could beat Rafe. Sometimes the media can be a little too much, but he is always there to get me through it. I promise.”
“Good because I won’t hesitate to have a talk with him if you want me to. I can’t have Rafe chasing off my favourite assistant.” She can’t get another word into the conversation because the auctioneer comes on stage to finish up the event.
After the auction, Y/N has to go to the bathroom and Rafe’s protective side causes him to go with her. She exits the bathroom in a fit of giggles and he grabs onto her forearm to stablize her. He starts laughing with her as they go down the wrong hallway. This one is much more secluded than the one that leads to the ballroom. She trips on her feet and he catches her. She looks up into his eyes. Something overcomes her and she smashes her lips onto his. He freezes for a second, but quickly regains his composure. He fights for dominance and gains it by slipping his tongue into her mouth. She hikes up the leg with the slit in her dress, so it sits on his hip and he brings one hand to hold it there. It’s like his dream from when they were dressing shopping is coming true and he can’t let it stop now. He gently places her back on the wall to help hold her up.
He breaks the kiss and begins to kiss his way down to her breasts. She lets out a quiet moan as he brings the neckline of her dress down a little to suck on the skin underneath. She lets out another sound of pleasure and he can’t help but grin when her hips buck into his. Once satisfied with the mark that is left on the top of her boobs, he kisses his way back up to swallow the moans she is letting out. Hoping to help her relieve a little pressure from between her legs, he starts thrusting softly into her clothed pussy. Her hands find their way to his hair as she fights to get her tongue into his mouth and she grins at the groan he lets out. They make out for a few minutes but have to break away before someone comes looking for them.
They didn’t know that this would cause a shift in their relationship. This is the first time they touched each other romantically without the excuse of it being for the press. Their relationship has now crossed a line that made them unable to tell what is real or fake anymore.
——
Following their heavy make-out at the charity event, Y/N and Rafe started being much more physical with each other. It always stops prior to having sex, but it doesn’t mean that what they’ve done did not make them feel more intimate with each other. They haven’t talked to each other as to what this means for them and honestly, they are both too scared to do so. Even with this new development in their relationship, Rafe and Y/N both kept their work relationship professional. All their physical contact is done at either his house or hers.
Rafe listens to the excuses that his employees are giving for not having their work done on time with an irritated look on his face. He hadn’t seen her all day and she couldn’t sleep over at his house last night because she had a family event. It is safe to say that he is grumpy about that, which doesn’t go unnoticed by Topper or Kelce. “I don’t care that they need the Rothman contract before they get to work. You guys should’ve gotten it months ago,” he chastises, standing up from his chair in an imposing manner. He is about to continue his rant when a knock on the boardroom door stops him. He invites the person behind the door into the room.
She enters the room and he feels like he can finally relax a little bit. His angry eyebrows relax and his down-turned lips form into a smile that most people in the meeting have never seen. Her shoes hitting the floor is the only sound heard as the others watch the scene. “I’m so sorry to interrupt, Mr. Cameron. Your sister is on the phone and she says it is very important. I know how much you value your family,” she apologizes, handing over his cell phone that she normally keeps while he is in meetings so he is not interrupted. Something comes over him and he brings her to sit on his lap with him. He needs to feel her in his arms. He presses a kiss to her temple and takes the phone out of her hand. The meeting goers observe this new side of him, leaving when he makes a wave of his hand to signal for them to do so. Everyone else leaves without an issue, but Topper stops at the doorway. He turns toward the couple, “If I knew all that you needed to get the stick out of your ass was for you to be dating your assistant, I would’ve set you guys up a long time ago.”
——
Y/N gets home to see Alexander waiting for her on the couch. He probably used his spare key to get in she thinks to herself. “Is everything okay?” she worries, setting her work bag on the stool. He shrugs his shoulders, “I don’t know. I think I’m in love with Juni.” Y/N accidentally lets out a laugh. “Dude, I could’ve told you that four years ago. You are just now realizing that?”
“Yeah, how do you know?”
“You are constantly making googly eyes at her, that’s how. Where is she anyway?”
“She went to the store to get some things for dinner. What should I do about my crush?”
“Ask her out. You are a fine catch Alexander, you will never know if you don’t give it a shot.”
“So easy for you to say, Ms. I’m Having Sex With My Boss.”
“I am not having sex with him!”
The door opens and in walks Juni, “Ooh, are we talking about Big C? You may not be having sex with him but I do know you’ve been having some sexy time fun with him.” Y/N scoffs at her best friend’s words and goes to help her with the bags she is holding. “Really? Do you really have to say it like that?” she berates, setting the groceries on the kitchen counter. Juni just shakes her head, “When you are that loud, I do have to mention it, Sweetie.” Y/N drops eye contact in embarrassment and busies herself with putting the food away. Juni stops Y/N and gives her a serious look. “Be careful, Sweetie. I’m scared you are getting caught up with your feelings and you blurred the lines too much.” “You don’t have to worry about it. I know that this is all fake,” Y/N promises, finally, looking at her best friend.
Her heart isn’t sure what she said was the truth. Every time she feels his skin on hers, her heart starts to belong more and more to him.

FASHION CREDITS: LADY GAGA BY ETHAN JAMES GREEN FOR VOGUE US OCTOBER ISSUE
I was highly expecting for Lady Gaga to land a Vogue cover and here we are, covering the October issue of the American Vogue. The photoshoot, which is highly inspired by her role as Harley Quinn in "Joker: Folie à Deux", was lensed by Ethan James Green.
Styling: Alex Harrington, makeup: Sarah Tanno-Stewart, hair: Frederic Aspiras, nails: Kim Truong using Glitterbels, tailors: Hailey Desjardins and Egle Paulauskaite, set design: Marla Weinhoff.
Tumblr media
Photographed during her stay in Paris in July this year, the cover photo showcases Gaga in the blue embroidered trompe-l’œil synthetic hair coat made in collaboration with hairstylist Gary Gill from Balenciaga‘s 53rd Fall/Winter 2024 Haute Couture collection!
Tumblr media
An iconic silhouette by now, Gaga rocks a pair of her favorite Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2016 Kiki buckled black leather platform boots!
Tumblr media
The mixture of couture, high-end designers and emerging talent is immense in this editorial as Gaga wears the grunge-inspired Hodakova Fall/Winter 2024 argyle double knit sweater in this hauntingly beautiful shot.
Tumblr media
Hyperventilating is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I fell in love the moment John Galliano sent out his girls down the dramatic runway and ever since I was hoping to catch Gaga in one of the designs. Never would‘ve thought she‘d even get a whole custom look!
Gaga poses in custom Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2024 Artisanal Haute Couture.
White cotton caisetted cape cut with the memory of an ulster coat, worn over a patinaed knitted silk bodysuit matching Gaga’s skin tone underpinned by a corset covered in jersey and a silicone hip prothèse.
A taped reverse swatching hat in white foam and caisetted cotton, patinaed knitted silk stockings and gloves, and custom Christian Louboutin for Margiela white patent leather criss-cross platform pumps with torn stocking overlay.
Tumblr media
One thing you should know about Gaga is that she loves to layer multiple runway pieces to merge a whole new look.
From Dior‘s Resort 2025 collection, a love letter to Scotland, she wore a knitted argyle sweater with cut-outs, a tartan wool maxi dress which she layered underneath a mesh and metallic lace dress, and some argyle socks.
Tumblr media
The Hodakova sweater makes a return, this time accessorized with an antique hand-painted plaque, ruby and diamond in 18kt gold brooch, and a smoky quartz and pearl in 18k gold brooch, both from Tony Duquette!
Tumblr media
A shoe that changed herstory. Vivienne Westwood‘s infamous Fall/Winter 1993 Super Elevated Gillie platform shoes make a return, acquired from Pechuga Vintage. You might remember Gaga wearing a boot version of these for her 2010 Elle spread!
Tumblr media
A firework of excitement ransacked my body when I first found out that Alessandro Michele would depart from Gucci to head over to Valentino as the new creative director.
LG is, to my knowledge, the first celebrity to rock a piece from the Resort 2025 "Avant Les Debuts" (Before the Beginning) collection – a pale yellow chiffon mini dress with high collar, tiered ruffle puff sleeves and floral sequin embroidery all over!
Paired with custom Maison Margiela distressed stockings and custom Christian Louboutin platform heels.
Tumblr media
Gaga is working it in a bi-colored statuesque coat seen on Yohji Yamamoto‘s Fall/Winter 2024 "A Seamless Parable on Cubism" runway.
Rather than canvas and paint, Yamamoto’s medium is fabric and more than ever, it felt like he let his instinctual side take the wheel. Case in point: He said he couldn’t talk about how he’d arrived at these silhouettes. "During fittings, I can change, I can touch", he said with finality.
The look was crowned with a custom Vivienne Bow hat made of voluminous moiré fabric by emerging designer Andrew James!
Tumblr media
One of the "Antwerp Six" designers, Dries Van Noten bid farewell earlier this Summer and decided to leave the fashion scene with a bang by celebrating his legacy at his final Spring/Summer 2025 collection where this epic embroidered cashmere coat is from.
Both her plaque-embellished black beanie...
Tumblr media
...and double-breasted boxy oversized coat with peaked lapel are from The Row's Resort 2025 lookbook!
Tumblr media
Gaga is the first ever person to wear this vintage Givenchy by Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 1999 "Execution of Lady Jane Grey" Haute Couture chinoiserie embroidered silk balloon sleeve coat and bespoke black dress, both sourced from LILY et Cie.
In 1999, McQueen was going through, in his own words, "an emotional turmoil" both professionally and personally. But instead of relieving himself, he ventured into his own despair to understand his inner demons more poignantly. This painful journey led Lee to Paul Delaroche’s tragic but beautiful 1833 painting, "The Execution of Lady Jane Grey".
Like a painter to a blank canvas, McQueen filled an empty room with extravagant offerings: romantic silk ensembles with floral embroidery, 16th-century fur-trimmed tunics, luxurious velvet coats, as well as the designer’s signature leather suits, cowl-neck dresses, and even a heightened-for-couture bouffant piece that paid homage to his plaid.
Dialing in on his inspiration, McQueen presented his clothes not on models but on fiber-glass-headed mannequins that emerged from trap doors in batches, as if the audience were in an art gallery rather than a fashion show.
Tumblr media
It's almost unrecognizable but Gaga is draping this Chanel Fall/Winter 2024 Haute Couture black silk taffeta opera coat around her torso. This piece, which served as the show's opening number, features a ruffled neck, bejeweled buttons and a voluminous cut.

How to Be a Real Life Mermaid 🌊🧜‍♀️🐚
The Look
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🐚 Wear sea foam green, aquamarine, teal, ocean blue, soft grey, lilac, periwinkle, emerald, pale gold, white, deep blue, and turquoise
🐚 Pick flowy fabrics such as taffeta, chiffon, linen, silk, muslin, and sequined fabrics that resemble fish scales
🐚 Choose garments like maxi dresses, flowy skirts, bandeau off-the-shoulder tops, tank tops, soft scarves used as tops, shell clutches, woven bags, and pretty beaded sandals
🐚 Accessorise with jewellery made from pearls, sea glass, seashells, turquoise, aquamarine, opals, gold that resembles the sun glinting on the sea, and silver that reminds one of the metallic sheen of fish scales. Examples of accessories you can wear are bangles, anklets, layered necklaces, and pearl earrings
🐚 Makeup Ideas: eyeshadow in nudes like a sandy beach, greens and blues like the sea, or lavender and pink like a coral reef, shimmery highlight, dewy skin, coral pink lipstick, and seashell pink lipgloss
🐚 Hair Ideas: loose curls that look like ocean waves, fishtail plaits, green and blue hair dye, pearl hairclips, and sea salt hairspray. Brush your hair with a pretty wide-tooth comb.
The Lifestyle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🐚 Listen to songs such as Martha's Harbour by All About Eve, No Ordinary Love by Sade, Come Into the Water by Mitski, Pearl Diver by Mitski, Mariners Apartment Complex by Lana Del Rey, and Call of the Sea by Claudie Mackula (a longer mermaid playlist is here).
🐚 You can also listen to the sounds of the ocean, like whale song or waves crashing on the beach
🐚 Watch movies and TV shows such as Aquamarine, Splash, The Little Mermaid, H20: Just Add Water, Mr Peabody and the Mermaid, Miranda (1948), Mermaid Melody Pitchi Pitchi, Ponyo, Barbie in a Mermaid Tale, Barbie: The Pearl Princess, Neptune's Daughter (1914), A Daughter of the Gods (1916), Queen of the Sea (1918), Venus of the South Seas (1924), and Magic Island (1995)
🐚 Read books, fairytales, and poems such as The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, The Mermaid Handbook by Carolyn Turgeon, Mermaids: The Myths, Legends, and Lore by Skye Alexander, A Daughter of the Sea by Amy Le Feuvre, Undine by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué, The Mermaid by Alfred Lord Tennyson, and The Sea-Child by Katherine Mansfield
🐚 Mermaids are renowned for their beautiful siren song, so sing sweetly and brightly as often as you feel like it
🐚 Make your self smell like the ocean by using a deodorant like Old Spice Deep Sea, and perfumes like L by Lolita Lempicka, Acqua di Gioia, Salt Air by Skylar, Fleur de Corail by Lolita Lempicka, Seahorse by Zoologist, Nymphéas by Kismet Olfactive, Salina by Laborattorio Olfattivo, Alien Mirage by Mugler, Very Sexy Sea by Victoria's Secret, 20,000 Flowers Under the Sea by Tokyomilk, Nebbia Spessa by Filippo Sorcinelli, Tiziana Terenzi's Sea Stars Collection, Chant d'Extase by Nina Ricci, Sirena by Floris, Squid by Zoologist, and Orto Parisi Megamare (be aware that the latter two suit a dark siren who lures men to their deaths more than a sweet mermaid princess).
🐚 Make your home smell like the deep sea too, with sea salt scented diffusers and candles such as Yankee Candle Sea Minerals, Yankee Candle Seaside Woods, or Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt
🐚 Home Decor Ideas: silk sheets in blue, grey, and sea green, seashell jewellery trays, homemade terrariums, jellyfish embroidery, seashell candles, beaded curtains made from string and shells, paintings of maritime scenes, glass vases filled with layers of sand, seashells, and faux pearls, seashell shaped soap dishes, rattan furniture, woven baskets, treasure chests to keep your valuables in, mermaid figurines, a seashell or jellyfish mobile, a bowl filled with seashells, a glass bottle filled with ocean water or with a love letter inside to replicate a message in a bottle, mosaics with marine motifs like seahorses and shells, even an aquarium with colourful fish if you are able to care for them
🐚 Spend lots of time around near bodies of water, swimming in it to connect with your inner mermaid, or just walking in it and feeling the sand beneath your feet
🐚 Collect seashells and pretty pieces of sea glass thar wash up on the shore
🐚 Watch synchronised swimming, or even learn it yourself
🐚 Go diving, snorkeling, or mermaiding
🐚 Visit aquariums to see beautiful exotic fish and learn more about the ocean
🐚 Do your best to be sustainable; make the world a cleaner place for your fishy friends to live in. If possible, attend a beach clean-up group local to your area to help pick up litter
🐚 Carry a haircomb and hand mirror with you at all times (you can hotglue seashells and faux pearls on the back of the mirror to make it even more like a mermaid's treasure)
🐚 Watch documentaries and read books on the ocean, marine life, and nautical myths and legends
🐚 Enjoy snacking on seaweed soup, coconut water, and Guylian seashell chocolates
🐚 Take luxurious baths with dead sea salt, seaweed masks, small white bath bombs that resemble pearls, a coconut scented candle, and calming music

kendy please, how do you think of such cute outfits every day. What is the process. Do you lay out your clothes the night before or mix and match day of based on vibes. Help.
PLEASE this is so nice to ask thank u first of all and my getting ready process was made simpler by the introduction of what i'm calling a capsule wardrobe but it isn't a true capsule wardrobe bc you have to have less clothes than i do for that but basically:
i have around 20 basic items i know i have to work with every single day. 5 midi skirts, 5 body suits, 3 dresses, 2 pairs of pants. the outlier items are things i try to add more (tank tops, band tees, dresses that aren't in the core 20, jeans, etc) but i usually think about the piece i wanna wear the most and build from there. like today i wanted to wear this black skirt i have on and was like not even sure how i was gonna wear it until first thing this morning. i was like damn how do i style this fucking long chiffon skirt and then i was like oh! white bodysuit (a core piece) and gold and black spotted heels and big gold earrings!
tbh i feel people overthink getting dressed. style is 90% confidence and only like 10% understanding of fashion and once you figure out the silhouettes you like/how you like to feel in your clothes things get a lot easier. i love a midi/maxi skirt or dress, a tank top, heels for summer time with a cardigan in case i get cold. i love a midi/maxi skirt/dress and a sweater for fall/winter. it's the all season formula and i think once you have that, you're good to go.
