𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🥖 Did you know that @thebrekkyclub nearly didn’t exist? 15 years ago the founders were about to open @saint.elmos and had a last minute change of heart. Well in what seems like a lifetime later, they’ve gone back to their original dream and opened a sandwich bar! Monday to Saturday, 5pm til late, at the Berwick Street Breakfast Club, the place is transformed into Saint Elmo’s Late Night Sandwich Bar. Jeez, these are some BIG subs! I’ve always dreamed of those big American-style subs but have never really found anything in London that meets my expectations, until now. Each sandwich is a meal, honestly, they are bigger than they look. There’s 7 choices on the menu; Saint Elmo’ Fire- Chicken Shawarma. Sloppy Joanna- Panko breadcrumbed braised beef cheek. Porkys Revenge- Loin of pork. Delhi Deli- Fried bhaji. Daddy Machaggis- Triple cheese Mac, veggie haggis. Fish Finger Club- Cornflake Fried Fish. Chicken Kiev- Chicken breast stuffed with garlic butter. We tried out the Chicken Kiev (pictured), Porkys Revenge, and Sloppy Joanna. When I say these were big, I couldn’t even get my mouth round the Kiev. A lot of squashing needs to happen, or cut it down to mouth sized pieces. Also, each sandwich has a different style bread. They all come with different toppings too, obviously. I really enjoyed all 3 I tried, but the Sloppy Joanna was definitely my favourite. Topped with cheese, grilled onions, rocket, and truffle mayo, it was delicious. @saint.elmos is 100% worth checking out, I’ve not really had anything in London that is on this level of sandwich. They are also available via @deliveroo from other Breakfast Club locations, but get down to Berwick Street to dine in. . . . . . #sandwich #sandwiches #sandwichesofinstagram #sandwichporn #sandwichlover #sandwichoftheday #chickenkiev #friedchicken #chickensandwich #friedchickensandwich #thebreakfastclub #breakfastclub #londonfood #londonlife #londoneats #londonist #londonfoodspots #londonfoodguide #londonrestaurant #sandwichs #timeoutlondon #foodbloguk #londonguru #soho #soholondon (at The Breakfast Club) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFOuEmhHRpv/?igshid=1xjanpzoinknm

Tonight's food heaven pics and video.
A massive thanx to a Highlands Lassie 🏴 my dearest friends Tams daughter Andrea, we cooked together 12 years ago, now a woman and wonderful mother, she cooked one of my most favourite Scottish dishes
Chicken Rob Roy McGregor with a Scottish single malt whisky creme sauce, the tourists call it Chicken Balmoral, but this is Chicken Rob Roy 💪🏴
A dish cooked with passion and served with love, by golly I nearly ate the plate too, that sauce was exquisite.
Corn fed Chicken breast, stuffed with the finest Haggis, wrapped in Scottish bacon 🥓 served with sauteed carrots, broad beans and local boiled potatoes, with that's amazing Scottish single malt whisky sauce, sticks fork in me I am done.
Now That's Eating Like A Highlands Scottish King 👑🏴 🧑🍳🙏🐾🐶🤠

The Joy of Haggis
Today is Robbie Burns Day. Burns was a Scottish poet born on January 25th, 1759 in Ayrshire and died at 37 years old in Dumfries. He is known as Scotland’s national poet. Burns’ birthday is celebrated by Scots around the world with a traditional haggis dinner. Although is most famous poem is Auld Lang Syne, sung throughout the world on Hogmanay, (New Year’s Eve), his Address to a Haggis is read at every Burns supper of worth.
I think that many non-Scots think that Scottish people throw haggis down as a dare, that eating haggis is akin to walking across red hot coals in bare feet, but that is absolutely not the case. In my time living in Scotland I realized that haggis is commonly enjoyed throughout the year at all mealtimes. I’ve always enjoyed a well made haggis, so while there I ate haggis traditionally served, (The Bothy in Glasgow has a fabulous haggis dinner), pork medallions topped with haggis at the Cove Bay Hotel in Aberdeen, haggis slices at breakfast with your sausages, bacon, and eggs, Balmoral Chicken, (chicken breast stuffed with haggis), and even haggis pakoras at Indian takeaways in Glasgow.
So tonight I made my Burns Supper haggis. I tried to make a tower, and it sort of worked, but it didn’t look as pretty as it could have. My whisky sauce was delicious though, if I do say so myself. We addressed our haggis, we enjoyed a wee dram, and we looked forward to a more social Burns Supper next year.

Food Anon. Are you Scottish? (you don't have to answer that if you don't want to) but what kinds of foods are from there?
I don’t mind answering but you’re going to get a fairly complicated answer. No, I’m not Scottish but I got my graduate degree there and my Godparents are from there and I consider myself Canadian however if Scotland were to leave the UK I would have a lot of weird paperwork to do concerning my dual citizenship because of course I’d go there. Glasgow is DEFINITELY one of the places that I consider home for me. Howwood too.
I would say look hard at Gordon Ramsay if you want Scottish inspired food. A lot of what he is famous for are Scottish inspired dishes because he is.
But - I would say, Irn Bru might be a great place to start. (And I’ve been craving it it, nothing to do with that) Its a fizzy drink and I have NO idea how to describe it or compare it to anything....and I had an American roommate who also didn’t know how to do that. But it’s something easy to find.
Sticky Toffee Pudding - Ramsay makes it of that I do know . It’s a boiled pudding, it is delicious and it usually comes with vanilla ice creme.
I think I have said before Balmoral Chicken is an excellent gateway into Haggis. It’s stuffed and grilled chicken breast and it has whiskey creme sauce and bacon. To be perfectly authentic it’s not streaky bacon. (but I think that’d be okay - if not great.) Also, my godparents made it with tinned haggis and I literally never complained
Cullen Skink - it’s hard to make on your own. It’s like...bacon and white fish soup. if made right it’s so delicious, but made wrong it’s a big stinky mess. I URGE you to get it. I’ll try it again someday, but for now I’m very nope.
Cranachan is my favourite - my boss made it for years. It’s oatmeal and raspberries and creme and a little whisky.
That’s some Scottish food primer.

Sainsbury’s
Following the launch of last week’s #fooddancing campaign, Sainsbury’s continued to release press ads around kitchen dance moves.
On social, they pushed recipe content with playful signoffs like "this calls for a wiggle". The upbeat, interactive tone has helped to drive likes and shares and a positive overall reception on social channels. They’ve used Twitter to promote their customised #fooddancing GIFs; whether users will choose to engage with them remains to be seen.
Sainsbury’s have also heroed haggis-stuffed chicken breasts in honour of Burns Night, as well as posting a vegan recipe video not dissimilar to Buzzfeed’s ‘Tasty’ vegan chocolate mousse. Like competitors, Sainsbury’s is keen to capitalise on the growing trend towards vegan cooking - and commenters on social have responded enthusiastically.
