"...so it was that bad. Then again I am not blaming you on that. Based on what Kujikawa-san told me it was more tormenting than she'd ever faced and humiliating." Arisaka was quick to add that she had requested her help on getting groceries after she'd been the bait victim and during that she'd given the cliffnotes version on the events.

She had insisted it was fine, but her energy levels and carry strength took a couple days to recover to what they were. In hindsight it had been a good thing and shown to IT that she was to be trusted and not like the idiots in Inaba PD.

Arisaka mentioned how you get oddly desensitized to the fear factor and at least she could tell the gun model apart from her own revolver. "I had a white ribbon with blue and red stripes attached to the holster. It required some superglue but it was the best decision in that year." She laughed at Kazuki on wishing her teammates had been more professional and mused how they all were as teenagers as one could imagine.

"Only because the SEES were disguised as a club and all of us had a grander purpose didn't mean there wasn't fuckup moments due to teenage idiocy. All of us were young, naive and bad at dealing with loss and it showed."

Any time someone says ‘mortal’, any Naoto in particular, Kazuki remembers Michiru and her tendency to call everyone mortals. The context is different, but the word finds immediate association with Michiru now. Whether it is a bad thing or not—possibly bad—Kazuki doesn’t know. They could get along well. Both of them seem a little... extravagant compared to the others.

Still, she believes shooting herself with a fake gun would be less intense than facing her Shadow again. Thinking about what she had said gives Naoto the healthy inclination to monitor her surroundings in order to prevent that thing from catching her off guard. Properly paranoid. “Well... yes. I’d rather use an Evoker than think about my Shadow again.” Maybe she would fit in with SEES more than the team. SEES seems professional. The team is too personal. “Being surrounded by a group of slightly more professional teenagers suits me more than... my current colleagues.”

Michiru wasn't even faced when she received a clear sign of disapprovement from Kazuki when explaining her most outrageous client who had been an idiot at first and how they had behaved before taking her offer and explaining the case at hand. It may have been direct and passive aggressive, but what had happened was something she couldn't just ignore.

"What. I just said that I called out that client from assuming I'd be cheap to request and task and then clarified that my prices are seen on a list what was updated due to the new workforce I had hired to help me with." In her opinion it wasn't that preposterous to correct them on how she wasn't working solo any longer and that she needed to take that into account in her prices.

It was for her rent, shared costs for two people and the costs for important items such as armor, custom-made bullets and for Macca so her work accomplice didn't need to deal with malnutrition. Completely justifiable if you asked her.

"You don't say. You did say that she was most emotionally repressed of the Shiroganes to appear so far." She took a sip from her soda and mulled over some thoughts. On one hand, she was tempted to try speaking to more people - call that the influence of her close circle telling her to not coop up at her office or only speak with two people. On the other hand, she wasn't sure if that risk was worth it.

Then again... she had taken a risk disguised as a work task and it had worked out well. Maybe luck was on her side in the end.

"That is a relief to hear from you since I've had an idea to expand my social circles more recently. I assume all of us have some lingering sense of social anxiety or wanting to protect ourselves, at least that is the impression I have gotten from everyone so far."

“So do I, and that’s only a positive sign if you ask me. Otherwise we both would’ve already lost our jobs as PI and would’ve probably died during a sudden ambush.” She didn’t like to remember her first case or the ones where she had almost died if not for using her healing ability in a nick of time, but it was a harsh reality of her job and proof on how she was making the most of her life as a PI and supernatural investigator.

After all, Tokyo’s demonic risks weren’t prevented without any effort. She was happy to help in that and saw that as her duty to keep the threats out of her  territory.

Michiru asked Kazuki out of pure curiosity and motivation to get to know the other if anyone had assumed ridiculous things from her only because she was a PI and a genius detective. You needed to start from somewhere, right?

She looked... amused for a moment. "You truly are Shirogane in how subtle emotions are hidden behind a resting bitch face and the most notable emotions are the easiest to get stuck to. At this point I believe that others are built different on this aspect." They weren't well versed in reading subtle reactions on face value, they were too intimidated by the most "professional" person of the group and seemed to assume she was unable to express other emotions than anger and sadness.

More like her emotional expressions were repressed and took their sweet time to appear. The team had been confused on seeing her smile genuinely to Rise during the meeting near Christmastime.

"I guess people assume you to actually have a range of visible expressions. It's really uncanny and something I refuse to try." Trandsparent showcase like Chie Satonaka was unnecessary and a bit of happiness she was showing was just enough. Not too much to give a wroing image, but not too less to be illegible.

Though, Violet was curious on something she had noticed. Kazuki had used one peculiar word and couldn't help but feel there was something the other didn't say out loud. "You said that you don't want the spotlight to shine on you too much. While I understand that from the perspective on avoiding media attention and needless attention, you're not also willing to cause trouble to others." Violet leaned to the extragavant foldable walking cane she had her and looked thoughtful on how she should say this without being too imposing.

"Answer me this, Kazuki. Is it possible that a part of you wants to rely on others more but a part still keeps everyone at arm's length as a remains of how you used to act?"

“How should I show any other emotion besides that?” Sadness inconvenienced others, fear wasn’t something she could allow herself to show as a detective, there was more to list but in short, that was about all she was willing to express. Nobody needed to know how she felt besides that. “Not that I want to know. It’s too... troublesome and causes the others to focus on me. I don’t particularly care for the spotlight to shine on me.”

She blinked. “...And this is why the others have a difficult time discerning how I really feel.”

She mulled on how how that did fit the definition of hysteria if you looked at its definition in theoretical and practical standpoint abnd explained some of the odd behavior she had seen in one of the suspects in her Japan. It wasn’t possession or homicide, but instead a case of paranormal entity promising something fantastical and way too many mortals getting caught up to it. No wonder she thought that there was a few select people in her territory who owned a brain cell.

“Be it so that they were participating in a hysteria, it should not mean that they are released from all or most charges on destroying public property. At least the main perpetrator should get the blame. They are misusing the law loopholes created for legitimate purposes.” This kind of outcome annoyed Michiru a lot. In all places she’d heard about and been the card of  ‘Your Honor, they were not sane’ had been used to get rid of the consequences they fully deserve. 

It was inevitable in the end since no world was ideal, but a petty idealistic side of her wanted to believe that in the end good and lawful side would win.

You have been looking at my direction for quite a time and the concern on Who Smuggled The Antidepressants seems to bother you.” Michiru was least to say confused about the whole thing: she didn’t precisely keep tabs to her fellow Shiroganes due to work being in a way. She had planned to do them all just to be able to have a calm video call with her family and was going to achieve that.

“...Kazuki, I hate to tell you this but the multiverse has been a mess since day one it started existing, or even longer than that. If a message would arrive to a wrong Japan, it would not surprise me the slightest after everything I have seen.” Michiru had tried to think on how its existence made any sense, but had given up quickly after it had caused her a major headache.

Also if you asked her if you described anyone as a God of Meat she had concerns.

"...right. How on earth could I have forgotten the other source of caffeine and what would be more 'in character' method for me." People hadn't joked about that yet but Violet knew to assume it'd happen some day.

She mused how she couldn't imagine getting anywhere near energy drink, though. It was too risky for her standards on caffeine consumption.

...sure, keep telling yourself that. The handle can sometimes be hard to see but I have a doubt you also weren't honest when saying you weren't dead exhausted. The mental image of overthinking Dojima-san walking to a glass door was extremely funny, though, and she didn't bother to filter that comment out.

"I am certain that if it took place, he would pretend it was due to other factors than sleep deprivation. His pride and ago can get in the way of self-care and seeking help and it shows."

“You’re forgetting tea.” Of which she hardly drinks because coffee is much more addicting. “And energy drinks.” There’s something... unpleasant about downing a can, no matter what size, that Kazuki can’t put a finger on, but at the end of the day, she’ll do whatever it takes to stay awake, even if it’s a vending machine energy drink of questionable origin and quality.

“But sometimes a well cleaned glass door can fool even the most seasoned detective. Anyone can make that rookie mistake, rookie or professional. I bet Dojima-san has done it.” She’d mention something about Chihiro here, but her poor sister needs a break from being the abnormality magnet.

She sweatdropped and was quick to clarify that if witnessing several matches with two Persona-users fighting each other for deity-related reasons counted, she did have experience on witnessing something similar to this. It was something what didn't bother her as much as it could've but it was still disturbing that she got the impression that they were going to fight until the other one was fainted.

"...if you're leaving to a calmer location, I am joining you. As much as it'd be interesting to see if your Shadow wins Chihiro's Shadow, useless fighting is useless and has more downsides if you ask me."

Violet only looked at Kazuki and mused how she wasn’t going to stop this bickering either since she’d had enough of getting involved with Shadow or Persona related events. It was probably shocking for the other to hear since she’d assumed that she still had the intrigue to obscure cases.

“They’re in the end prone to fight until they are exhausted or bored and then leave with claims of the other being lucky this time. At least we two can have some entertainment with popcorn and proof on how Shadow Selves are chaotic and will always be chaotic.”

Does Violet really think watching two Shadows roughhousing counts as entertainment? Are they not nuisances to her? Then again, she must work on a different wavelength. Who knows what she’s gone through, experienced, how it shaped her worldview, etc. “You act like you have experience…

I’d rather take shelter elsewhere, away from this mess.”

Don't mind Violet looking at the events and both agreeing with Kazuki and being impressed on how she could state her options with the brutal honesty. It might've not been the best approach right now, but people who preferred furries to normal humans were weird if in the extreme opinion variants.

"You nailed it." Only a true Shirogane could appreciate such a roast on the level of seriousness.

“Thankfully I am not delusional enough to think adding animal ears and other attributes to people makes them better, nor am I delusional enough to think they are the pinnacle of humanity.”

"I at least hope that she'll try to eat more regularly." She was dead certain on needing to be both harsh and accurate, and it was a necessary evil for this situation. The last thing Violet wanted was to have an identical impression to what Kazuki had gotten from her.

The next question was if she wanted the eldest Naoto to be blunt or subtle. 

“I’m sure she’ll listen to you, since you hold the most authority here. However, I feel you may have to be blunt when speaking to her. I’m sure you understand why.” They are all Naoto, after all.

"The tactic you're using is appeasement. It might work for now if you have a idealistic mindset, but in several times at history appeasement has never worked as a strategy." Who knew if they suddenly wanted or demanded more, and assumed all parties would be fine with it.

That, and Chihiro was clearly bothered by it. Wasn't Kazuki aware of that or was she simply put as ignorant on others' point of view as per usual? She couldn't tell that right now, and it annoyed her. "The risk of a too hard to manage parasocial relationship already exists and, well... being worshipped can oftentimes affect your mental state negatively, especially if you aren't used to it."

Violet would let Kazuki connect the dots on her on regarding the comfort levels and if this weird situation was worth keeping.

After observing her for some minutes and being pretty sure on how she was staying at the river unless someone told her to get away from there. Violet wasn't sure how her initial plans to meet up a specific Naoto was going this excellently but after the mess of past experiences this wouldn't surprise her the slightest. She had gotten an agreement on meeting one of the few Naotos with the same arcana as hers and if this was the exact same Naoto it'd be one Hell of a first encounter.

"...miss, I recommend you to get up from that river right now. Hypothermia is a real risk for you as long as you are laying in the river."

@thedetectiveofinaba​ sends: Violet looks very concerned in the background from what’s going on and is very close to yelling at her duplicate to get off from the river. Why the Hell are younger versions of her more extreme and idiots? (multiverse, Violet @ Kazuki uwu)

If anything is happening, and she doubts there is, Naoto remains blissfully unaware. She’ll have to get out soon, but for now, what’s the rush? Are there pressing matters? No, there aren’t.

Of course she did. Everyone is different in their own ways, but two things that happened to carry over are a blunt coldness and a general ineptitude when it comes to showing emotions. Tsukasa is a human bulldozer, breaking through those assumptions and trailblazing her own category of Naoto. From that, it’s natural to deduce something is off about her, and that something may as well be the influence of Adachi.

“I’m sure most of us are wary when it comes to Tsukasa. Something about her is off. A different set of circumstances when compared to us. Now that I’m forced to think about why she is the way she is, I believe it all comes down to a particular event or person.”

How she’d love for this hypothetical to become a truth, but that task requires cornering the weasel and getting her to admit it. Will she run like Adachi did when they confront her? Is there some dastardly secret locked behind that irritable smirk? Had she assisted her ‘father’ with the Inaba murders?

“Something has caused her to be closely entwined with Adachi Tohru. I don’t believe this is a universe where she is somehow his biological child.” The mere image of that is too horrifying to perceive, not that being bound to things other than blood is any better. Even thought of being that man’s adopted daughter sends a certain kind of distress into her bones.

A hand on her hip, Kazuki brings a finger to her head, lost in thought. “I wonder though, do you know something I don’t? I feel like you’ve been… guiding me somehow.”

"...you don't say. It'd be quite rare for a Naoto not to think she's an anomaly." She was certain that Adachi of her universe had a surprising influence on her and even though she could question it now, she wasn't going to bother: it was a relief that the Adachi-san of that Japan hadn't been an apathetic, careless and something she'd describe as a waste of a person to graduate as a police officer.

Violet mentioned how it was very unlikely that the Adachi both knew was unlikely to find anyone to start a family with or even to try to be a good father at this point. "As much as I don't want to rag on him further, he's convicted of murder and has shown to be a misogynist piece of trash. He would only be a negative influence, and I haven't noticed Tsukasa to be malicious in her core." Adoption was the most likely outcome and if Kazuki had figured that out on her own, her work was done.

The second Violet had the flicker of hope on getting away with withholding information, Kazuki's comment dragged her back to reality and reminded that even though she was smart, she wasn't the smartest person in the room. An instinctual reaction for her was to appear as calm on the outside and nor admit anything.

"Guiding you how, precisely? If it is on Adachi or seeming similar to her, it is both of us noticed but you connected the dots."

Yep, Kazuki was officially onto her scheme. It was confirmed now. Violet knew that she could either try to risk her luck even more or be sensible in this. It wasn't the best for her own reputation or Tsukasa's, but she could at least own up to the reason she'd kept quiet on this. Just tell the truth as far as you can, Shirogane. You can’t say that you didn’t try to orchestrate Kazuki figuring out that Tsukasa Shirogane has something to hide.

“Though... it seems that like a true Shirogane you have seen past my facade and attempts to bluff you. I do know something you don't on Tsukasa." She sounded almost disappointed on being close to getting away with this in her own opinion and mused on how it had been quick and up to par with the assumptions she had. "I probably needn’t to say on what topic."
