The terms and justifications she used did catch Michiru off guard. It wasn't that weird for her to treat others as lesser or less intelligent, but to use harsh terms like that? It was unprofessional as Hell, and derogatory to boot.

"I see. Your approach is very much like you, and their reaction makes sense as well. It's a way to scare threats in your vicinity and I usually only do that to rile up enemies if I want to stir up chaos to get the task done. You'd be an extremely bad PI if you'd continue that method as an adult, take this as a critique from a PI." She mused how her age did explain the horrendous treatment she gave others since she probably didn't think much of it and put it to the tab of "I think they're not the best people so I can treat them however I want".

It was immature and at least it seemed like she was a more mature person by now. Michiru certainly hoped she wasn't like that any longer. However, she did have a morbid curiosity before she'd continue to see how well she could call Tsukasa out.

"Though... I am curious why you were justified on Narukami's cruel nickname of sorts. I have literally never spoken with anyone who has a grey bowlcut hair and is called Narukami so I have no bias on any party."

“Even the smartest people in the room are prone to terrible decisions in regards to their judgement, but luckily for me, I have never claimed to be the smartest.” A partial, at least when academics and detective work are involved. She’s skilled at appearing to be a dopey, slacker when she’s got the sharpest brains in the room. Unfortunately, that leads to teachers picking on her to answer their questions.

“Oh, those people?” She stares at her fingernails for a few seconds before crossing her arms over her chest. “Well, I was thirteen at the time, so I wasn’t even in the high school age range. So I just invaded their meetings and tried to get them to spill the beans. Also rattled off unnerving crime statistics to get them to loosen up.” She shrugs. “They did seem frightened whenever I stopped by. Also, I called their gray-haired bowlcut leader ‘Manwhore’ instead of addressing him as Narukami. In my defense, I was justified. He is one, big whore of a man.”

"...remind me again why I have a separate postbox office for the fanmail and why I'm 'too cutthroat' on discarding suspicious fanmail or gifts." Michiru has seen the Naoto Cult getting active again and she's just not taking any chances on it.

She'd always be ready to be Chihiro's bodyguard against the cultists. They were too suspicious to let run wild.

Michiru wasn't even faced when she received a clear sign of disapprovement from Kazuki when explaining her most outrageous client who had been an idiot at first and how they had behaved before taking her offer and explaining the case at hand. It may have been direct and passive aggressive, but what had happened was something she couldn't just ignore.

"What. I just said that I called out that client from assuming I'd be cheap to request and task and then clarified that my prices are seen on a list what was updated due to the new workforce I had hired to help me with." In her opinion it wasn't that preposterous to correct them on how she wasn't working solo any longer and that she needed to take that into account in her prices.

It was for her rent, shared costs for two people and the costs for important items such as armor, custom-made bullets and for Macca so her work accomplice didn't need to deal with malnutrition. Completely justifiable if you asked her.

Answering to a lost ask meme / not accepting

"I am glad on that since it's... do not take this in a bad way but I've wanted to speak with other Naotos than only Kazuki and Tsukasa for a long while. Tsukasa seems to be an anomaly and as much as she is enjoyable to be around I don't want to be as isolated as I used to be." Michiru was more than elated on the fact that Chihro wanted to actually speak with her and did her best to hide that childlike enthusiasm to add how she wouldn't believe this was happening.

She mused how it might've been a miracle but she'd take it. A calm location with not that much people and a mutual understanding on a situation of wanting to get to know one another a bit better than earlier was all she needed right now.

“That kinda sounds like the midnight channel thing we had around here a few years ago…” Adachi trails off, looking off into the distance, his detective’s intuition taking the wheel. Well, they had an idea of how it had come about, but that was after a lot of danger and mystery-solving and one instance of beating a goddess into the dirt. He hoped that this weird Naoto universe wasn’t quite like that.

At the acceptance, the father offers a smile, and makes a dismissive gesture when she mentions not wanting to be a nuisance.

“Listen, I know my kid pretty well, and if you’re friends with her, that means you’re a good person. Besides, I know her mischievous tendencies better than anyone, and something tells me you don’t tick like that.”

He turns and makes a motion for Michiru to follow him, so he can head back to the house and prepare dinner - now for three. If his Naoto knew her, he had a feeling she wouldn’t mind helping cook for another person.

“So… is our universe any different? What makes you all different from each other?”

The midnight channel thing... could you be referring to something abnormal mortals had no idea to deal with? Michiru couldn’t remember on the spot if Tsukasa had mentioned that at all and reminded herself to ask about it later if a proper opportunity presented itself.

“I... thank you for your trust, Adachi-san. I’ll do my best to not let you down on that.” It was both a honor and a relief to not get bombarded with suspicion on the spot, especially when Michiru knew she’d still have to talk her way through this and seem like she was a mortal like others. Even though they all seemed to be able to possess a JoJo-like being it didn’t mean they weren’t humans at the core.

She wasn’t that naive to not take the hint to follow him to a different room for a more... convenient talk. She’d gladly sit in a chair to try hide her nervousness. As she was walking more slowly than Tsukasa’s father the question she received wasn’t that hard to answer. She just needed to know how brutally honest she could be.

“...it is vastly different from my Japan. As for the details, it’s - let me ask this first so you will not pass out on the bombshell. How severe paranormal phenomena have you faced in the scale of one to ten?” She was dead certain that if she blurted that demons and paranormal pests were as normal as small thefts she’d get weird glances.

"You don't say. You did say that she was most emotionally repressed of the Shiroganes to appear so far." She took a sip from her soda and mulled over some thoughts. On one hand, she was tempted to try speaking to more people - call that the influence of her close circle telling her to not coop up at her office or only speak with two people. On the other hand, she wasn't sure if that risk was worth it.

Then again... she had taken a risk disguised as a work task and it had worked out well. Maybe luck was on her side in the end.

"That is a relief to hear from you since I've had an idea to expand my social circles more recently. I assume all of us have some lingering sense of social anxiety or wanting to protect ourselves, at least that is the impression I have gotten from everyone so far."

Well, that was a relief. She still had a chance to convince this mortal that she wasn’t a suspicious person to be around. It'd be probably harder than with Tsukasa since they had synced surprisingly well and both weren't averse to chaos existing. Putting a professional role and explaining this as calmly as possible were her ways of achieving her goals, and it'd be what she'd do now.

“Only five, then - this makes things easier to explain.” The events he recalled sounded bizarre to her and it did explain why he wasn’t as fazed from this as she had assumed. It was somehow more stable than her situation, even though murder had been involved.

Okay, then. Attempt number one.

"In short, they are cases of that sort but more diverse. A PI firm I am running in my Tokyo specializes on cases what are often caused by non-human beings and they vary from kidnappings to mundane vandalizing. The main difference also seems to be that beings of that kin appear occasionally to the main city, not a limited area." She sounded calm when explaining her basic work tasks and added that it wasn't as chaotic as it sounded since most people weren't as aware of the non-human entities since the news reported less on that and put them to the tab of something else.

Now we wait for his reaction and response, and follow up from that.

It was an oddly calm moment for the duo to just read any book they had at hold.  Usually Tsukasa was going on about something relevant in the moment and Michiru was trying to participate in the conversation and observe how different she was compared to some people she’d met and most mortals. 

Unlike the younger Shirogane she’d picked up a local newspaper what was the closest thing to getting information from this version of the “too boring” town in Tsukasa’s opinion. She mused casually how the paper seemed to place emphasis on how she had to admit the news feed was more tedious than she’d assumed at first. 

“At least the head of the PD seems to get some positive attention from upkeeping calmness in here.”

Especially the yellow eyes what gave an distorted impression were an oddity and suspicious.

It wasn’t an office area, moreso a large space with various sharp objects on a table.

Buzzfeed Unsolved sentence starters / accepting for now

“So do I, and that’s only a positive sign if you ask me. Otherwise we both would’ve already lost our jobs as PI and would’ve probably died during a sudden ambush.” She didn’t like to remember her first case or the ones where she had almost died if not for using her healing ability in a nick of time, but it was a harsh reality of her job and proof on how she was making the most of her life as a PI and supernatural investigator.

After all, Tokyo’s demonic risks weren’t prevented without any effort. She was happy to help in that and saw that as her duty to keep the threats out of her  territory.

Michiru asked Kazuki out of pure curiosity and motivation to get to know the other if anyone had assumed ridiculous things from her only because she was a PI and a genius detective. You needed to start from somewhere, right?

It’s dark out, so no one’s really going to be able to get a good look at you unless they’re close.” Street lamps would increase the chances of Naoto being forced to explain what the heck is going on, but thankfully, the neighborhood watch isn’t in full swing around her house. For a month, it used to be, but now, those efforts are better spent on the shadier side of Inaba.

Smuggling her counterpart out is another story. Some shoving into the TV may be needed. Finding ways to hand wave Teddie’s existence to the town had been a handful, and she wasn’t even the one housing him. Explaining the sudden twin sister is even harder. Separated by birth only happens in drama.

…There have been some cases, but still, it’s a little unlikely.

“Do you have a nickname or something I can call you by? Naoto is… well… you know.” Weird to use since both of them are Naoto.

Michiru nodded without saying a word and only followed after the footsteps the almost equally identical Naoto Shirogane. The main differences on them was now that she had more horrendous clothing and her usual jacket and hat on a separate plastic bag. If she’d visit this Inaba later she’d just bring a wig what looked nothing like her pixie cut. It’d be easier than looking like a fashion disaster. 

She didn’t need that many cues to understand the other’s intentions and knew better than to be snarky about this. "...you can use the name Michiru. I coined that to myself since the simpler ones were already taken." She'd really need to explain the multiverse sooner or later, and find a way to do that without shocking the more... normal Shirogane.

She could sense a similar force to Kazuki and Tsukasa, but it had a different flair in that. She’d just ask on that later as well if it was fluent for her to do so.

That line was both expected and unexpected for the young heiress. She’d been taught from her childhood two things about family: that blood family is what is important to maintain and that your choices on who she let close was a choice nobody had a say in. He mother’s side was especially prone to reminding her to remember her roots as both a mortal and an anomaly and not let Saiki’s relatives claim she was a weird individual. 

The portion what wasn’t something she had seen from the father of another Naoto Shirogane was that close ties were also a factor in this. Based on this she’d been told the basics and not informed how the extremities in life and death can prove is someone is like family to you. The feeling of having someone else than three people close to you was foreign

“I... I see. I had no idea how there was more to the flexibility to the term than ‘bound by blood or choices in life’. I don’t know if this makes any sense, but if that fact is combined with the statement on how family is what you choose, I’d have more family members than my blood family from UK and my father’s side of detectives.” Michiru sounded genuinely curious on how the definitions were more varying among her circles and mortals.

“...you were asking for me, miss? You have been looking at my direction for quite a time and the concern on Who Smuggled The Antidepressants seems to bother you.” Michiru was least to say confused about the whole thing: she didn’t precisely keep tabs to her fellow Shiroganes due to work being in a way. She had planned to do them all just to be able to have a calm video call with her family and was going to achieve that.
