We have a Chewtle here for a temporary stay, and apparently, Lobo has decided that he is on the "things to shepherd" list. Which is incredibly cute but I feel it's a matter of time until he gets water-gunned on the face

victory in hand, but snatched at the last moment, leaving naught but despair for alex hhhahahaaa... :'D luckily arven was generous with his share, and with that, alex *finally* has his first badge (and delicious sandwich better than any he's had before)!

and since we're already making our own unique tweaks from the games (ie, nicknames, dialogue/plot order, etc), we're going all in trying to create unique sammies to match the herba mystica, thus, Cake Sammy for the Sweet Herba~! i hope you look forward to what else we come up with in the future too!

Post-lesson Play

Original request (from @pingobuparts): "Heya! Allow me to send my own request! For Underwater, how about a scenario with Nessa training a couple baby pokemon to swim, and obviously she'd be awfully exhausted training baby 'mons all day. Which leads to the lil guys giving her a couple surprise underwater tickles to cheer her up! Bonus if they aim at her tum^^ The main pokemon could be Sobble or whichever you see fit!"

Author’s note: We’re a little more than halfway through Tickletober, so let’s keep the party going! Here’s Day 17 of Tickletober: “Raspberries” and “Underwater” from August’s Prompt List and Nim’s Prompt List! I hope you enjoy! 

Series: Pokemon

Characters: Nessa, Sobble, Wooper, Chewtle, Drednaw

Word count: 1,150

Summary: Nessa is exhausted after a day of swimming lessons with baby pokemon Sobble, Wooper, and Chewtle, so the little creatures discover a way that could perk up her energy levels with a bit of play.

“That’s it. You’re almost there,” Nessa encourages the baby Sobble paddling towards her. Her feet touch the bottom of the water gym’s built-in pool, but she stays in one place with her arms reached out in front of her for Sobble to see.

“Come on,” Nessa cheers on the baby water type as they swim closer. “That’s it,” she repeats in a gentle voice. The pokemon produces a happy squeak and paddles to the gym leader. The creature comes close enough to touch his small, crescent-shaped hand to her fingers.

“Yay, you did it, Sobble!” Nessa celebrates like seeing a child take their first steps. Sobble happily squeaks again. Around Nessa, two more baby pokemon emerge from the pool—a baby Wooper and a baby Chewtle, who also release joyous pokemon cries.

Sobble, Wooper, and Chewtle are all newly hatched pokemon that Nessa is temporarily nurturing as a favor to her friend, and pokemon researcher, Sonia. Of course, as the babies are all water types, swimming is an essential skill. So, like a Swanna to her baby Duckletts, Nessa is teaching them the basics of swimming and diving as their natural instincts start to kick in. 

“You all did wonderful today,” she says to the three baby pokemon. “Wouldn’t you say, Drednaw?” she looks over to her partner pokemon, who’s resting on his stomach at the tiled edge of the pool. During the lessons, he occasionally joins his trainer in the water to act as an assistant instructor and lifeguard to the baby pokemon when needed. 

Drednaw lifts up his head and agrees with Nessa with a happy growl.

The water type gym leader stretches her arms above her head and bends to the side to also stretch those muscles. “Phew, I don’t know about you three, but I’m exhausted.”

The three baby pokemon quietly chirp to each other with a bit of worry. Even at their young age, they understand that teaching them must take a lot of energy. They paddle over to her with the water calmly treading behind them. As Nessa continues to stretch, the creatures gently cuddle up against her sides to show their appreciation.

However, the reaction is much different than the baby pokemon expected.

“Hey!” Nessa jolts her elbows down to her sides. A giggle trails in her voice, “Careful, I’m ticklish.”

The three pokemon back away and gurgle in surprise with wide, enlarged eyes. Sobble, Wooper, and Chewtle look to one another with more squeaks and chirps. As their chatter quiets, their once shocked expressions turn into happy smiles. 

All three of them look back to Nessa, then dive underwater. They circle the gym leader, like the shark pokemon sharpedo circling bait.

When baby pokemon play, they have a lot of energy, so maybe playing a game with Nessa will help perk up her energy too!

“Huh?” Nessa looks down at the strange swimming pattern of the creatures surrounding her. “What are you three doing?” she asks with curiosity. Suddenly, she squeaks when the pokemon close in and brush up against her torso underwater. Soft giggles from her follow and flow like rapids from Nessa’s form as she pieces together the mischievous intentions of the baby pokemon.

“Cohohome ohohon you three-hehehe! Nohoho more plahahaying!” Nessa laughs. She squeezes her arms to her sides and wiggles as the pokemon tickle her, although she stays in place and is careful not to hurt the small creatures.

Hearing Nessa’s joy filled reaction from within the water, the baby pokemon are only encouraged to continue. They speed up their tickly whirlpool, swirling around Nessa, causing the gym leader’s giggles to grow. She curls forward a bit.

“Yohohou little rascals!” she playfully responds to the increase of the pokemon’s swimming speed. Instantly changing tactics again, the three creatures slow their whirlpool and stop at different spots around Nessa’s torso, with Wooper to her right, Chewtle to her left, and Sobble at her belly. With no time to spare, they nuzzle at her sides and tummy, making Nessa take a step back in surprise.

“Eek! Drednaw! Hehehehelp mehehehe!” Nessa calls out to her partner pokemon over her shoulder. The large creature at the edge of the pool only smiles. He lifts his head up and releases a growl that sounds like a yawn, before settling himself comfortably back down on the tile. Nessa doesn't have to understand Drednaw’s pokemon cries to know that smug growl essentially meant, Nah.

“Sohohohome lifeguard yohohohou are!” she replies with a lighthearted jab towards her pokemon. “EEK!” she shrieks after her sentence when Sobble suddenly gives her tummy a bubbly raspberry from underwater, like he was using a miniature version of water gun at the surface of her stomach. Sobble swishes his tail in the water with glee and proceeds with another water gun raspberry.

“Sohohobble!” Nessa dunks her hands in the water to gently push the baby away, but the little pokemon uses his newfound skills in swimming to maneuver past her hands and blow a third raspberry on her belly. Nessa jolts backwards, splashing water with her.

“Nohohot again!” she giggles and tries to make her escape. She pushes herself backwards through the water, but the persistent baby pokemon quickly follow in her tracks like a school of fish. 

Nessa reaches the shallow end of the pool after another push through the water, but she trips backwards on one of the steps leading into the pool and splashes onto a secondary flat step above it, raising most of her form from the surface of the clear liquid. Chasing right behind her, Sobble, Wooper, and Chewtle leap towards Nessa from the water and splash at her shoulders. They nuzzle their faces into her neck, which returns Nessa to her giggly state.

“Ohohokay! Yohohou got mehehe!” Nessa admits defeat to the baby pokemon. “I’m all tickled ohohohout!”

Listening to the gym leader, the baby pokemon start pulling back. They look at the trainer with remaining smiles. Nessa pats all of their heads.

“Hehe, thanks for that,” she says with a smile of her own. She lifts herself up on her arms and pushes herself out of the water to her feet. 

“Now, come on. Let’s get dried off,” she looks down at the pokemon and speaks to them sweetly. The three little creatures listen and hop themselves out of the water, with Nessa following behind. As Nessa wraps a towel around herself to dry, Drednaw waltzes over with another towel in his mouth and hands it to Nessa to, this time, offer a little bit of help. Nessa takes it with a grateful smile. She unravels it and kneels down to dry off the three little water pokemon one by one like they just had a bath.

Sobble, Wooper, and Chewtle are just babies now, but when they grow up to be big and strong, memories like this one are ones that never grow old.
