gotta shout out amazing back to back wins like ah orville wingate you say, let's just do some research & ah not really a film with super cohesive & cogent arcs / conflicts / thematic execution or anything but a surprisingly prominent role there, promising. then the bits of interviews about how they were approaching & redoing the material & eventually other initial responses to the show were all promising too like oh what a delight, & thank god orville just also gets to do the theatreing b/c makes little sense why Not, & then it was like oh wait slamming the alarm you're telling me orville has a gay romance arc also!!!!!! absolutely relish that & then the 13th xmas extravaganza being announced like ohhh & keeping an eye on the [more tba!] cast list on the 54 below site so as to eventually see will roland added to the list like a gift!!! do the research of keeping an eye out & via the rehearsal glimpses like oooh i bet someone's a villain again & being correct cyril von miserthorpe 2023 babey & like we already knew the tragedies & joys of presumed dead long-comatose husbands but you're telling me this year he also fucks the krampus What a Gift!!!!!!!!
#all the appreciation for everything bolstering my heart#as ever each winston moment is a delight very much In Spite of everything surrounding it which is a real endorsement of his power#but very much Disappointed But Not Surprised throughout all that so not so many particularly loud alarms to slam in a good way there#truly thank you will roland stage roles for the billions healing; cheri steinkellner joe iconis our beloveds....#summer stock#joe iconis christmas extravaganza#will roland#always prone to having particularly Lively Roles no matter what & Will be giving a performance(tm) one way or another#that's why he's called that. now you know

Obscure Animation Subject #133: Teacher's Pet
Here’s another cult classic from DTA! Created by Gary Baseman, Bill Steinkellner and Cheri Steinkellner, the series is about a 9-year old boy named Leonard Helperman, whose mother is a teacher and gets mocked as a “teacher’s pet”. Meanwhile his anthropomorphic talking dog Spot who misses Leonard when he’s at school, so he decided to wish becoming a real “boy”, like a human boy, and wears clothes while getting a new name Scott Leadready II, who becomes the most popular influencer in school. Although Leonard was mad when funding out Spot’s secret, he accepts his decision, continuing him to allow attending school.
A simple premise in all, but the execution makes it more special than what is seen in the outside. The animation is fluid, stretchy, and just really great overall. The show was co-created by Gary Baseman, a persuasive artist and you can see his unique style in his own series. I also love the voice-acting, everyone feels spot-on for their role especially Nathan Lane as Spot. Because of everyone getting so into it, it makes the joke deliveries, even the simple one liners much more impactful. Even besides the funny dialogue, the show has hilarious visuals and absurdity.
I just love these characters. Principal Strickler, Ian Wazselewski, Mary Lou Helperman, and honestly most of the other main and secondary characters have tons of great moments but my favorite is actually Spot. He’s enthusiastic and intelligent for a dog, but also really melodramatic. Everyone had great jokes that made me laugh but Spot had my favorite jokes. I especially love it when he’s empowering his classmates and turns the plot into a social commentary. The stories in this show could either be that, or just a full on gag-driven episode, most episodes end up on a life lesson that fits the story whether it’s a subtle message or not.
Oh yeah, and my favorite content from this series is actually the 2004 theatrical film. Yes you heard that right, a theatrical film. I suppose the show did win some Emmy awards and it used to be a trend for animated cartoons having their own theatrical movie. It just feels funny that Teacher’s Pet of all things got this treatment. Anyway, I adore this movie. It’s part road trip movie but mainly a spoof on Pinocchio. Spot finally becomes a real boy… kinda, and Leonard has mixed thoughts. While in the series he was acting supportive with Spot wanting to be a human, he didn’t know that scenario could actually be real. The movie has a silly yet interesting conflict, and it's a musical! Tons of songs and their reat. This movie still has the same great humor and animation as in the show, but now with a bigger upgrade for the big screen and possibly more insane than ever! The story is fun and the villain is amazing, he’s voiced by Kelsey Grammer! This serves as a wonderful Teacher’s Pet finale, just incredible.
Love the characters, fast energy, and the comedy. It's weird, distorted, off the walls-insane, something that feels like it would've come from one of Nickelodeon's bizarre cartoons, in a good way! Lasted 2 seasons and a movie and honestly that was enough for this series, it's one-of-a-kind.

Sister Act The Musical to be Staged in Manila on June 27
Music enthusiasts will be thrilled and dazzled by the exhilarating song numbers and hilarious scenes from a much-acclaimed Broadway musical comedy when “Sister Act” premieres on June 27, 2017 at The Theatre at Solaire, Entertainment City, Pasay City.
The show opens the two-week Philippine run of the hit Broadway musical that is part of the Asian leg of the American production’s Asian tour for 2017. The musical will run for only two weeks with no extension.
Touted as America’s new musical comedy classic, “Sister Act” brings to the musical theater scene a stage re-creation of the music and general story of the hit 1992 film comedy of the same title, but with an all-original score and script and spectacular production design.
The play will leave the audience breathless as it they follow for two-and-a-half delightful hours the funny adventures of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look – a convent.
Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly re-discovers her own.
The musical features original music and score with a big Broadway sound written by the most acclaimed composer of our time, 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “”The Little Mermaid,” “Little Shop of Horrors”), with lyrics by Glenn Slater. The story was written by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas. Carter Beane.
It had its world premiere at the Pasadena Playhouse in the Fall of 2006, followed by a production at Alliance Theatre in Atlanta on the Winter of 2007. The West End production began previews at the Palladium Theatre in London on May 7, 2009, while the Broadway production began preview performances on March 24, 2011 and officially opened on April 20, 2011 at the Broadway Theatre.2
Seen by over 6 million theater-goers across the globe, “Sister Act” has been performed worldwide in Milan, Vienna, Paris, Germany, The Netherlands, Japan and on tour throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. It has also been played in Canada, Ireland, South Africa and Spain.
The musical received five Tony Awards nominations in 2011: Best Musical, Best Original Score (Alan Menken-music/Glenn Slater-lyrics), Best Book of a Musical (Cheri and Bill Steinkellner and Douglas Carter Beane), Best Actress in a Musical (Patricia Miller) and Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Victoria Clark)
It was also nominated for four Olivier Awards in 2010, including Best Musical.
The musical has drawn widespread critical acclaim for being a “fun, funny and feel good” act, with The New York Post describing it as “ridiculously fun” and The Huffington Post lauding it for providing fans “an unbridled joy.”
Sister Act is Ovation Productions’ second Broadway musical presentation; with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast 2 years ago at the Cultural Center of the Philippines as it’s first.
Media partners are Fox, Philippine Star, Manila Bulletin, Philippine Daily Inquirer, and BusinessWorld. Produced by Ovation Productions in cooperation with Broadway Entertainment Group, and Troika. Tickets at P6500, 5500, 4500, 3500, 1500 available online at www.ticketworld.com.ph or call (02) 981-9999. Avail of 10% Early Bird Discount from February 12 -28, 2017.

Musical Monday
Now, I’ll be honest; this week’s Musical Monday highlight isn’t necessarily the best musical of all time; however, I don’t think it ever intended to be. I think it intended to be a fun escape from the dramatics of the world. But, I will admit, the score does have some serious upbeat bops that serve as a great distraction whilst sheltering in place. So pop on the cast recording, like I am right now, and let’s take a look at this heavenly musical comedy!
Musical Monday date: 3/30/2020
Musical: Sister Act
Book, Music, and Lyrics: Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, Alan Menken, and Glenn Slater
Broadway Run: April 20, 2011 - August 26, 2012
Awards Won: None
Other: Based on the 1992 film of the same name which starred Whoopi Goldberg (Deloris), Maggie Smith (Mother Superior), Kathy Najimy (Mary Patrick), and Mary Wickes (Mary Lazarus).
Fun Fact: In addition to Best Musical, Sister Act received Tony nominations for Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score Written for the Theatre, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical (Patina Miller), Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical (Victoria Clark).
Sister Act is just a fun show with groovy tunes and the potential for some great vocals and choreography. The Tony performance of “Raise Your Voice” is a stellar turn for the nun company, so give that a watch, and pop in the film if you get that Sister Act mojo running through your veins. Next week jumps us off to 2012, the year in which I began my annual trips to New York. Can’t wait to re-visit some of the Broadway shows I had the pleasure of seeing. Stay safe, keep your hands and faces clean, and listen to a musical!

recreation of a couple photos from a scene between orville & phil that do seem to have homosexual overtones / intense friendship / possible romance energy
also the ensemble is there (& joe, & montgomery, & gloria, off to the sides) but the orvphil plausibilities feel Quite real
#from someone's pictures from a preview performance....dunno their stance on slapping down a repost right out there so: renderings#i would describe it as fairly remarkable lol. there are indeed ppl like clasping their hands smiling upon the scene in the backgrounds lol#can't quite capture it all in trackpad ms paint but like. intense professional friendship is right.#and that these pics immediately follow what's presumably the scene of montgomery out there seducing orville's mom so like#why not be a parallel....#meanwhile this Isn't their meetcute; another pic earlier has different outfits & shows it includes the film's Glasses Mixup swapping#striding over embracing cheri steinkellner like you get it....you just get it....#meanwhile there's then Further pics of phil and orville like. i think after the scene i am recreating here#All pics of phil & orville ft. them together from there out. fellas?#summer stock#orville wingate#i'll break out a whole tag for real and for fun lol#orvphil#other points for this concept just include like. don't tell tim but ''the narrative'' that queer people exist...is shoehorned into Reality#and that everything abt the writing / execution of this show makes it amenable / conducive to this plausibility#we can also have comedy & extra comedic characters here w/o it being ''lol imagine if anyone was gay? that's the joke''#and again i strongly doubt if this show Is invoking homosexual overtones it's to go ''haha. that would never happen. is the joke''#congratulations to Whatever They Have#congratulations to us summery stockies out here hoping for orville & phil material & Definitely getting it....duo for sure#i was even just let down w/the movie Only giving the corresponding roles the glasses mixup moment. let the funny boys interact. cmon#anyways ofc i'll dm you the pix if you're intrigued or just the link to the zipped mega file as sent along to me#phil Has got his arm/hand right over orville's chest who is hanging onto that arm in turn#phil Is leaning a bit in with his hand on orville's stomach like alright musicians grab your musicians
