i was gonna make a post about it being sorta funny that lloyd kinda looks like cheongi because. well. look at her.

is that. is that the reason they changed javier's design. is that why he couldn't look anything like berkis. why it was so important that his appearance couldn't be mistaken in any way shape or form to berkis'.

because they couldn't have the protagonists of the romance novel bk moon wrote before be a parallel to the protagonists of the current novel any more than they already are.

i mean. a dark haired korean being brought from another world and meeting one of the most powerful beings in existence and getting extremely close to them despite their best efforts to the contrary?? and they're silver haired??? that sounds really fucking familiar now doesn't it

I haven’t watched ep 11 yet but can I just say that I’m back to liking ha ram’s character a lot again? I respect him wanting to send cheongi away. Basically every character who truly loves her tells her that painting the royal portrait is too risky. The headmaster, her painter friends, and ha ram all care about her well being more than the wishes of the king or defeating a demon. Ha ram especially is willing to sacrifice his chance of being exorcised of a pesky demon that makes him go around old-school-Frankenstein-movie choking people because cheongi *might* get hurt. Is the “it’s not safe to be near me, run away with this ticket out of the country I’ve gotten you” a trope? Yes. Is it also the moral thing ha ram should do if he really is in love with cheongi? Yes!!

cheongi and ha ram were cute this ep tho!! I'm really enjoying their relationship development. I like how it's the woman standing up for the man (like when she spoke to prince yangmyeong about not taking ha ram away to the inspection bureau or whatever) and when it is the man standing up for the woman (you know ha ram and his impeccable martial arts skills) it doesn't feel very... overt? I'm not sure I'm capturing the feeling fully, but whatever it is, it doesn't feel like a gross overstatement of masculinity. their relationship does feel balanced. and they communicate! I was so afraid ha ram would just stop talking to her or just disappear but nooo he took her out on a date, gave her a ring, told her he loved her and then mentioned not to worry that he'd be away. it was nice.
