Chensung & The Accidental Confession
Ā it isnā€™t too long after the whole pond incident, though, that Chenleā€™s sitting down on Jisungā€™s bed with his teddy tucked under his chin sighing and asking ā€œhey, could you do me a favor?ā€ ā€œsure, i guess. what is it?ā€ ā€œi have this crush on someone. is it okay if i just talk ur ear off in Chinese about them?ā€ and Jisungā€™s heart stutters and he feels it start to sink but he agrees bc he loves Chenle and forces himself to listen to him ramble in words he doesnā€™t want to know
Jisung knows that Chenle likes boys. They never keep anything from each other. Well, until now. Jisung didnā€™t even mean to develop a crush on him, it just sort of happened. Clicked for him when he was hanging out with Chenle and watching him smile and laugh. The part that made his heart stutter the most, though, was the moment Chenle stepped out of the park bathroom stall wearing Jisungā€™s soccer clothes. And Jisungā€™s been trying to avoid acknowledging those feelings since. Chenle was too special to lose, so he kept quiet.
Chenleā€™s had crushes before, but now itā€™s the first time Chenle likes someone at the same time Jisungā€™s trying to hide away his feelings. Jisungā€™s heart continues to sink and he has to emotionally remove himself from the situation because heā€™s pretty sure he might actually cry if he doesnā€™t. He ignores his feelings. Chenle looks too happy and in love for Jisung to feel spiteful because as shitty as this whole thing is turning out to be, Jisung just wants Chenle to be happy.
It takes a good 10 minutes for Chenle to even slow down in his rapid Chinese chattering about some boy Jisungā€™s going to be eternally jealous of. Thereā€™s another 4 minutes of scattered comments and then Chenle just sits back with a smile and says, ā€œsorry. I just had to get it off my chest.ā€
ā€œYou talk a lot,ā€ Jisung says, and Chenle looks hurt at the tinge of annoyance in Jisungā€™s voice.
ā€œuh-ā€œ
ā€œI canā€™t believe your dumb ass didnā€™t tell me sooner, look how happy he makes you,ā€ Jisung adds before Chenle can get upset.
Chenleā€™s grin is worth the pain Jisungā€™s feeling at the moment.
~
Weeks go by, and Chenle spends at least 40 minutes a week telling Jisung about his crush. It doesnā€™t seem like a long time until Jisungā€™s heart is ripping itself into shreds the more Chenle rambles. Chenle keeps asking Jisung if he has anyone he likes, and he always awkwardly stutters out a ā€œno!! who is there around here thatā€™s worth liking??ā€ he doesnā€™t catch Chenleā€™s frown as he jets into the ice cream shop before he slips up.
Jisungā€™s heard a lifetime of words about Chenleā€™s new crush. He and Jisung hang out just as often as usual, so Jisungā€™s wondering where in the world this crush of Chenleā€™s is hiding. He never points someone out like he usually does, so Jisungā€™s hurt and confused and wondering whoā€™s so wonderful that Chenleā€™s in love with them. But then he worries, because Chenle points out every crush to Jisung. Except not this one, the one Chenle actually sounds in love with. It makes him nervous. Who is good enough for Chenle to fall in love with, but unworthy of showing their face to Jisung??
Even if Jisung had any confidence to tell Chenle his feelings, seeing him like this now wouldā€™ve killed it before it could set in. Jisung admittedly becomes more quiet, afraid to reveal himself by accident. Itā€™s almost dance competition season, so he starts practice earlier in the year than usual to avoid letting anything happen. Heā€™s just giving Chenle more time to hang out with the boy Jisungā€™s envious of, anyways. Itā€™s a win-win situation for both of them.
~
As much as Jisung resents his accidental feelings and Chenleā€™s crush on a boy whoā€™s not him, he still loves and cherishes Chenle and their friendship. He misses the kid and heā€™s not sure why heā€™s trying to deprive himself of spending time with his favorite person. So one day he gets fed up, ends practice early, and goes to find Chenle at the place he knows Chenle and Renjun go for tutoring Korean. Jisungā€™s proud that Chenle finally got good enough at the language to help little kids learn and adjust to the move from China.
The bus runs a little late, but Jisungā€™s running into the building as soon as he knows that Chenleā€™s tutoring session is ending. It takes him a few minutes to find him, duffle bag slapping into him painfully as he runs. He stops though, when he sees Chenle gesturing widely and ranting to Renjun. Jisung doesnā€™t even have to listen to recognize the movements Chenle makes when heā€™s chattering away about his crush, and his heart stumbles a little and the high of wanting to see Chenle is beginning to wean.
Jisung pushes on, though, because he misses Chenle and heā€™s not going to let their conflicting crushes ruin his day. He takes a deep breath and walks over to them, Chenleā€™s back facing him. He doesnā€™t get far before heā€™s caught in his tracks like a deer in the headlights. For once, Chenleā€™s crush rambling is being spoken in Korean, and Jisung doesnā€™t mean to eavesdrop, but heā€™s been so curious and heā€™s so shocked to hear it in a language he understands.
The more Chenle talks, the more the crush sounds familiar to Jisung. Heā€™s talking about him being a dancer, the soccer game he has tomorrow, and the friendship thatā€™s last almost an entire lifetime. Jisungā€™s in denial that itā€™s him, because theyā€™re just small similarities until Chenle does it. Chenle says the words ā€œbest friendā€ and ā€œin love withā€ and Jisungā€™s maybe not being so stupid in this moment, because the only person Chenle calls his best friend is Jisung. Itā€™s been that way since they were kids.
Renjun asks why he doesnā€™t just tell, and his eyes widen when he sees Jisung standing there, looking petrified and cheeks rosy. Heā€™s trying to stop Chenle from answering, but itā€™s too late because now Chenleā€™s shouting.
ā€œI CANā€™T JUST TELL JISUNG Iā€™M IN LOVE WITH HIM!! WHAT WILL HE THINK!?!?ā€
Renjun does the stupidest thing in his panic, and whips Chenle around to face Jisung, whoā€™s standing a few feet away with a red face and eyes distant.
ā€œJisung!! HI!!ā€ Chenle says, because he didnā€™t realize he wasnā€™t speaking in Chinese to Renjun.
Chenle doesnā€™t even get out a smile or another word, because Jisung seems to reanimate then, and heā€™s bolting into the hallway where the classrooms are held.
ā€œWhere did heā€¦..?ā€
ā€œYOU WERE SPEAKING IN KOREAN, YOU DUMBASS. HE HEARD YOU!!ā€ Renjun screams in his panic.
Chenleā€™s heart drops to his toes, and his stomach goes with it.
ā€œIā€”what?ā€
ā€œHe heard everything, I didnā€™t have time to stop you!! I donā€™t even know how long he was standing there, but you were speaking Korean the entire time!!ā€
Chenleā€™s heartbeat picks up.
ā€œWhat do I do? What the fuck what do I do?ā€
ā€œGO AFTER HIM YOU MORON. EXPLAIN!!ā€
Chenle almost trips over his own feet as Renjun shoves him toward the hallways. Everyone has already left for the day, so itā€™s not hard to find Jisung sitting outside of a classroom. Heā€™s hiccupping, face tinted bright red and at the tail end of crying. Chenleā€™s heart is going a mile a minute and heā€™s sure heā€™s ruined everything between them.
ā€œJisungā€¦..I can explain. I didnā€™t know how to tell youā€”it just sort of happenedā€¦..ā€
He kneels in front of his crying best friend. The last thing he expects is the bone crushing hug Jisung pulls him into, pressing Chenleā€™s face to his chest as the crying starts up again. Itā€™s quiet for a few moments, and Chenleā€™s feeling nervous the longer Jisung almost strangles him in the hug.
ā€œJisung, I know you probably hate me but please donā€™t choke me to death,ā€ Chenle croaks.
ā€œYouā€™re such a stupid fucking idiot,ā€ Jisung cries. ā€œThe stupidest fucking idiot in the world. Stupid and selfless and always taking care of me and my mom. Chenle, youā€™re in love with me.ā€
ā€œI know, Iā€™m sorryā€¦.ā€
ā€œAs soon as I heard you had a crush I was so afraid you wouldnā€™t love me back,ā€ Jisung sniffles. ā€œI was so fucking jealous of him. Chenle, you love me!ā€
ā€œYou werenā€™t supposed to hearā€”ā€
ā€œā€”I love you, too, you moron! You have no idea how relieved I am that you love me back.ā€
Chenle finally escapes Jisungā€™s death grip and uses his sleeve to wipe Jisungā€™s face. Both of them have smiles on their faces and Jisung laughs.
ā€œWhat are you crying for, then?ā€
ā€œIā€™m really happy.ā€
Jisung flinches away from Chenleā€™s sleeve, face scrunching up as it scrubs away at his face.
ā€œStop it, I donā€™t want snot on my face after I kiss you,ā€ Chenle scolds casually.
Theyā€™re both flushing bright red at the comment, and Chenle quickly adds.
ā€œIf thatā€™s fine with you. The kissing thingā€”ā€
Jisung cuts him off by beating him to the chase, and Chenleā€™s cheeks are squished under his hands as he kisses him. Jisung wishes he could freeze the moment forever.

waiting (but for real you're so talented like you write such beautiful pieces in a short amount and you find for each one of us amazing plots, i really appreciate your efforts and writings ā™„ļø ily šŸ’™)
[4:52pm] Alone again, you let tears stream down your cheeks as you sob to yourself.
Waiting for love is way too tiring.
Your phone buzzes multiple times, text messages flooding it. Your fingers tremble, turning off your phone.
Life... continues.
You tried. You tried to not be affected, to be brave, to move on, to forget. You tried your best.
And you waited, you really did; you waited for so long until it was simply unbearable to wait. All those years, all that waiting brought you to this: a smile on your face, the skies a chaos of crimsons and yellows. The sun dying to let the moon breathe, leaving traces of colored lights dyeing and dancing in the vast, vast uncertain sea, a breath-taking scene right in front of you.
A flawless wonder right ahead of you, and if he was here, you just know that Zhong Chenle will still stare at Park Jisung like he's the most wonderful sight he's ever laid his eyes on.

yo tell me the back story of chensung meeting each other bc I just read ur post n nearly cried like I had no idea
tumblr dot com user parkandzhongā€™s legacy lives on ....
chenle (as u might be aware) was a child prodigy, he performed at a lot of events as a soloist, and collabed with a lot of other kids as well. jisung was also a (kinda) child prodigy (as in - heā€™s been dancing since forever). there was an event on may 2nd (childrenā€™a day in south korea), the event was in beijing, china. jisung was there to perform a dance cover of gangnam style and chenle was performing ā€œyou raise me upā€ with two other kids. jisung and chenle ended up sitting next to each other and talking, theyā€™ve even mentioned this before in more recent interviews and videos. jisung taught chenle the first korean word he ever knew (ā€œhelloā€) and chenle taught jisung a little bit of mandarin (no idea what word, but i imagine something along the lines of hello as well). apparently they bonded because they had the exact same ipod/iphone. (they talk about it in this episode of chenji this and that). this is why jisung very frequently states that he was chenleā€™s korean tutor (and still says he is). there is a photo of them together that was taken from this event, but itā€™s funny looking at it now and knowing how they ended up not only at the same company, but in the same group. theyā€™ve truly grown up with each other.

Cryptid Chenle Mini-Au
Tumblr media
(obviously i tweaked the lore a little bit so i could write this. this fic does mention death and has negative themes like depression and the struggle of self acceptance)
Genre: angst
Word Count: 3.1K
A young couple in China gives birth to a bouncing baby boy with a temper and the tendency to scream so loudly the neighbors would complain. If not for the way he wailed at night, you'd think he was a happy baby. In the moments where he was impossible to console, there was another family about to experience the anguish of the shrieking baby boy.
In the years to come, the bouncing baby boy grew, but the inconsolable episodes stayed. Putting him into school proved to be difficult, as many in the cryptid community had not yet experienced the likes of a banshee. He was sent home more often than not, and eventually his parents decided to teach him at home until they learned to control his episodes.
ā€œYou need to punish him,ā€ the womanā€™s mother tells her when the boy turns 8. ā€œHeā€™s too old to be throwing tantrums. Youā€™ve spent his whole life consoling him. Youā€™re letting him think heā€™s in charge here!ā€
The boy sits in the hallway, on his way back from playing outside when he hears the annoyed words of his grandmother. Sitting against the wall with his hands clasped over his ears and tears pooling in his eyes, he feels like nobody will ever be able to understand him. Nobody understands how much it hurts when he screams.
ā€œChenle, baby, whatā€™s the matter?ā€ his mother asks, walking out of the living room to find him sitting in the hall.
ā€œI fell down,ā€ he lies, voice fragile and shaking.
She doesnā€™t have to know he heard. He already knows heā€™s a freak of nature.
ā€œWhereā€™d you fall?ā€ she asks, worried. ā€œWhat hurts?ā€
Her hands begin to roam him, checking him for cuts or bruises.
ā€œI fell off the porch,ā€ he says, thinking back to the tumble he took earlier in the day. ā€œI hit my knee.ā€
He wonders if she feels the same way, too. Does she think heā€™s broken?
-
The next week his father has to leave on a trip and heā€™s left staying at his grandmotherā€™s house. Sheā€™s strict, and she likes to make him follow a schedule while heā€™s there. He hates it, but he knows his parents are busy, so he behaves the best he can. Ā
ā€œI will not baby you in this house, young man. I will cook you dinner and reach the things you cannot. Other than that you must behave and act like a grown up, understood?ā€
He nods simply. He knows not to get in her way by now. She just doesnā€™t understand that he hurts and that he canā€™t help it when he screams. If heā€™s quiet and patient and out of her way, maybe she wonā€™t hate him so much anymore. Maybe if heā€™s nice sheā€™ll understand that heā€™s broken and he doesnā€™t know how to fix it.
-
He remains quiet and out of the way. He speaks when spoken to and plays quietly in the yard with the 3 toys he was allowed to bring. He picks himself up when he falls, even if he cries a little after. He doesnā€™t make eye contact at dinner and he bathes himself and tucks himself into bed.
Itā€™s always hard to sleep at grandmaā€™s house. If he feels funny and anxious, she doesnā€™t have to know. He manages to sleep for a little while, but when he wakes in the middle of the night itā€™s with a feeling of dread. His body feels cold and he isnā€™t able to get a pillow over his mouth before the scream rips out of his body. He tries to choke back the wail that bubbles in his chest, but itā€™s a battle he knows heā€™ll always lose.
Sobbing all alone in a dark room as the rain patters on the tin roof, Chenle wonders if heā€™ll ever be fixed.
ā€œPlease!ā€ he wails, though heā€™s not quite sure whatā€™s he pleading for.
The mantra is lost in a tirade of tears and sobs as Chenle feels himself slip away. He knows heā€™s waken his grandmother, but the distress freezes him. All he can do is cry and hope it passes soon. Surely he wonā€™t be stuck this way for life. He canā€™t be, can he?
-
When his mother comes back, he overhears his grandmother insisting he get checked out by a doctor. He clutches his teddy close and gulps as he thinks about going to the hospitals. He doesnā€™t know what theyā€™d do to him. The first image that comes to mind is his brain being hooked up to monitors as they ask him questions he knows he canā€™t answer. His mother finds him crying in the hallway again.
-
The regular doctors are scary, and they put him in machines that rattle and make him sit completely still. Itā€™s scary and they donā€™t take him out no matter how much he whimpers or panics. They make him sleep in uncomfortable beds hooked up to lots of wires, and theyā€™re always asking him questions he doesnā€™t know the answer to.
His mother notices the way he nervously picks at a loose thread on his teddy, but when her husband asks if thereā€™s anything truly wrong with Chenle in the first place, she insists they go on. What kind of parents would they be if they didnā€™t try to help?
-
He turns 10 when they turn to the cryptid community for help. Heā€™s cycled through lots of witches and doctors with funny potions and weird questions. None of them seem to think a screaming child is of any concern. Perhaps he just has night terrors, they insist.
It isnā€™t until they find a centaur when heā€™s 11 that they get answers. It takes 6 months of meetings and weird therapy exercises. Apparently centaurs are wise, and they search the stars and wisdom of those before them to find the answer.
Chenleā€™s 11 when he finds out heā€™s not entirely broken. Heā€™s whatā€™s called a banshee. He announces death. Chenleā€™s not so sure he wants an answer anymore. Whenever he screams, people die.
-
ā€œTell him to take it back.ā€
ā€œTake what back?ā€ his mother asks on the way home.
ā€œI donā€™t wanna be a banshee, tell him to take it back.ā€
ā€œHe canā€™t take it back, baby. You were born to be a banshee. We canā€™t take back something youā€™re born with. Especially not when youā€™re so important and special.ā€
If being important and special means killing people, Chenle wants to be the most worthless person in the world. Heā€™d rather be a normal human like the boy down the street. He doesn't want to be special anymore. Grandmaā€™s right to hate him. He thinks heā€™s a bastard as much as she does. Who could love a boy whoā€™s the bringer of death?
-
The first night he feels anxious after getting an answer is the worst. Maybe if he holds in the scream, nobody will have to die. Once his parents settle down for sleep, he sneaks out through the back door, padding through his neighborhood with bare feet. The forest is a little farther than he remembers. Itā€™s cold out, but he doesnā€™t care. Curled up next to a tree by a still pond in the early hours of the morning, Chenle thinks about how many people heā€™s already killed.
Daylightā€™s beginning to break when he feels it. Heā€™s shaking his head, begging with whoever cursed him to just make it stop. The tears are already dribbling down his cheeks, breath hitching in his throat. He finds a stick and puts it in his mouth. He bites down with a symphony of whimpers, willing himself to be quiet.
He can feel the splinters finding their way into his gums. He canā€™t be bothered to care. He deserves it, after all, for making so many people die. He tells himself the pain is bearable. Maybe if he takes the pain of all those people, they will live to see another day. Heā€™s the one who should be dying anyways. Heā€™s a bastard and a murderer. He doesnā€™t deserve a place on this planet. How could his parents still love him for what heā€™d done?
-
By the morning he finds himself soaked with another person dead. He curses whoever made him a banshee. He curses whoever decided his sacrifice wouldnā€™t work, and his chest rattles as he coughs up the water he swallowed. His gums are bleeding, the stick having broken in his mouth as the scream ripped through his chest.Ā
The walk back home is lonely and heā€™s left wondering why this world wants him alive so badly. His mother and father are screaming at him when he comes back home, clutching him and asking him where heā€™d been. Chenle tells them he fell in the creek by their house. They donā€™t have to know.
-
The centaur insists on meeting Chenle more. He gets training on how to control his screams better and it takes him 8 months to be deemed fit to go to school with the other kids in his town. Heā€™s already made a name for himself, since he has no friends and is one of the only kids who didnā€™t attend school with them.Ā
Heā€™s quiet, and he knows heā€™s the talk of the middle school. Kids stare at him in the halls like heā€™s a freak. Heā€™s bullied and ridiculed for being the weird kid. His parents pull him out of school and move him to a small town in Korea. The kids are nicer there, and there are more cryptids than there were in his hometown. He has never met another banshee, but he does meet 6 boys he befriends over the course of the next few years.Ā
He still struggles to accept his place in this world sometimes. He still flees the house on the nights he knows heā€™s going to scream. He has to be taken home from school a few times when he screams in class. Nobody says much when he does. They all know what he is now. That doesnā€™t stop them from being wary of him. Chenle canā€™t say he blames them. Itā€™d be scary to know a kid whoā€™s the caller of death.Ā
He goes to therapy in hopes that he can live a more normal life. They teach him new ways to cope with what heā€™s meant to do. His friends donā€™t ask a lot of questions, and theyā€™re careful when they do. Most of them are cryptids, too. But none of them understand no matter how much Chenle tries to tell them what itā€™s like to be a banshee. He still panics when they ask. He still goes home and hides under the blankets those days, wondering again if heā€™s truly just a broken kid. Just one who doubles as a banshee.Ā
-
He only goes for a dip in the lake one time after the first incident. Sacrificing himself so that others can live is not the answer to fixing him. He doesnā€™t know if heā€™ll ever be fixed. His friends and parents tell him thereā€™s nothing to fix. Chenleā€™s not so sure of it. No matter how happy he is, he still feels displaced in this world.Ā
-
ā€œSo have you ever predicted a death?ā€ Donghyuck asks once at the lunch table.Ā
ā€œThatā€™s his fucking job, stupid,ā€ Renjun replies, slapping Hyuck roughly. ā€œI meant if he knew a certain person was gonna die!ā€
ā€œIt doesnā€™t work that way,ā€ he says quietly.
Heā€™s much better off not knowing who heā€™s going to kill next. Death happens for a reason, after all. The world would be too crowded and miserable if everybody stayed alive for the rest of time. Heā€™s doing the world a favor. Itā€™s just not a favor heā€™s fond of, no matter how necessary it is.Ā
Sometimes people need to die. Theyā€™re sick and miserable and some of them arenā€™t in their right mind to begin with. Itā€™s more comfortable to die, and Chenle can accept that.Ā
-
He grows older and he grows more content with himself. His friends are supportive and they donā€™t think heā€™s a monster. He goes on trips with them and he sleeps over at their houses and they hold him on the nights he ends up screaming and crying in the corner. Theyā€™re loving and they make fun of him and goof off and they skip class together. They treat him like heā€™s as normal as they are. He hasnā€™t been so happy in his entire life.
Sometimes heā€™s younger, and they go on trips without him and Jisung. He feels like a normal kid whoā€™s just too young to leave on weekend trips and lives under the thumb of his parents. He complains that itā€™s unfair and they complain that they donā€™t want him being out for days with no adult supervision. Heā€™s just another teenager that he sees in the movies. He has the same arguments with his parents and he feels like maybe he isnā€™t so abnormal after all.
Heā€™s 16 and not allowed to go out with his friends to celebrate Markā€™s birthday out of town. Heā€™s jealous that they can go out and stay in hotels and throw parties by a lake near a city for the hell of it. They can drive cars and stay out later than him.
He still gets to hang out with Jisung until 11 pm since they both didnā€™t get to go on the trip with Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Hyuck, and Jaemin. Theyā€™re having their last big hurrah before summer ends and they have to go back to school.
-
Heā€™s about to settle in for bed on Sunday night when he gets a call at 1 am.
ā€œHello?ā€ he asks, trying to wipe the sleep from his eyes.
ā€œChenle.ā€
ā€œJaemin? Why are you still up?ā€
ā€œListen, Iā€™m having a really hard time staying awake. Please stay on the phone with me. Talk to me about your day. Laugh really loud. Play rock music, I donā€™t care. Just stay with me, okay?ā€
ā€œJaemin, whatā€™s the matter?ā€
He hears Jaemin groan and smack the steering wheel.
ā€œFuck, Iā€™m so tired.ā€
ā€œJaemin, wake somebody up! Tell them to switch you spots!ā€
ā€œShit. I canā€™t, Chenle. They all left before me. My mom called and I had to sort something out and stay back to help her out. Fuck, how is it possible to be this tired?ā€
Chenle feels his hand shake slightly as he holds the phone. He gulps, trying to wet his lips as he speaks.
ā€œJust pull over and get some sleep,ā€ Chenle says, voice pleading. ā€œThe road will still be there in the morning.ā€
ā€œI canā€™t! I have to work with my dad in the morning, Iā€™d never make the drive back on time. Shit!ā€
ā€œYou okay?ā€ Chenle asks.
He can hear the shake in his voice as Jaemin continues to swear.
ā€œFuck! I just spilled Red Bull all over my lap. Fuck!ā€
ā€œPlease pull over.ā€
ā€œThereā€™s nowhere to pull over. I havenā€™t seen anything for miles, Chenle.ā€
ā€œJust pull over on the side of the road, you moron! Get some sleep, miss working with your dad. Take care of yourself.ā€
ā€œHeā€™ll have my ass, I canā€™t. Heā€™s holding me to this one. Heā€™s threatening to send me to military school if I donā€™t stick to the shit he wants me to do. He fucking hates it when Iā€™m out with Hyuck. Heā€™ll think we were getting up to something while we were out of town.ā€
Chenleā€™s heaving in a panic, struggling to find the words he wants to say to Jaemin.
ā€œHeā€™d rather have you be a little late than have you crash your fucking car! Youā€™re costing him less money than car repairs, stupid! Just pull over and go to sleep!ā€
ā€œIā€™ll be fine, just keep talking to me.ā€
Chenleā€™s quiet for a while.
ā€œYou didnā€™t fall asleep on meā€¦..did you?ā€ Jaemin asks.
ā€œNo, no. Iā€™m still here, sorry. How was the trip?ā€
Chenleā€™s trying to calm himself as he grabs his coat off of the back of his chair. He canā€™t quell the anxiety as it constricts his throat. Jaemin is croakily rambling to him about how Hyuck almost got them kicked out of the hotel as Chenle pulls on his shoes. Heā€™s cursing the oncoming episode as he steps out the back door. Why did he have to be a banshee on this night of all nights? Hopefully itā€™ll keep Jaemin awake if he screams while theyā€™re on the phone.
Jaemin stops talking, but the buzzing concern in Chenleā€™s head is so loud he doesnā€™t notice until Jaemin coughs.
ā€œChenle, you okay?ā€
ā€œSorry, Iā€™m just having an episode,ā€ he manages to choke out from his constricted chest.
He holds back a small sob as he pads down the street to the field he sits in when he has to announce a death. His legs are shaking too hard, he knows he wonā€™t make it to the small forest a few miles away. Heā€™s trying to choke back tears as his feet hit the wet cement.
His headā€™s buzzing so loud. He can barely hear anything as his feet pound against the pavement. The world is blurring with the onslaught of tears. He guesses he shouldā€™ve noticed how quiet Jaemin had gotten. Hindsight is always 20/20 though.
ā€œJaemin, howā€™s the drive going?ā€
ā€œItā€™s fine, promise,ā€ Jaemin says.
He sounds like heā€™s barely hanging on. Chenle gulps, feeling the dread overtake him. His body goes cold. He calls out again when Jaemin stays quiet.
ā€œJaemin!!ā€
Heā€™s heaving, ready to hyperventilate as he shouts again.
ā€œNA JAEMIN, YOU MORON, ANSWER ME!!!ā€
He shouldā€™ve noticed, in retrospect. Why else would the feeling overcome him that night? Why did he have to stop talking? The seconds feel like hours and Chenle can feel the dread building to a crescendo. It pounds away at every nerve in his body and he can hear nothing but his heartbeat in his ears. Why couldnā€™t he have just pulled over on the side of the road like Chenle asked him to? But thatā€™s all in hindsight now.
ā€œJAEMIN PLEASE!ā€
Chenle cries as he drops the phone, weeping harder than he ever has during an episode before. He guesses he really can predict a death after all. At 1:22 am, Chenle feels his world crumble around him. Why doesnā€™t Jaemin just answer him back?
He screams before he can stop himself. A sleepy neighborhood is woken by his anguished cry as another neighborhood 20 miles away is awoken by a honk and the screech of metal.

Okay here's the prediction renjun x jaemin will rise and jeno is gonna come out there something nobody expected like jeno x Chenle That's all jenle(????????) will rise mark my words
Itā€™s gonna start off like this.Ā
Jaemin returns and is happy to finally be back and reunite with his best friend Jeno. Jeno-who is now super BFFs with Renjun-, kinda ignores Jaemin at first so Nana tries to make him jealous by hanging out with an unsuspecting Chenle. After hearing Chenles loud ass laugh all day + Jaemins sunshine smile, Jeno actually does get jealous and tries to worm back into Jaemins bff position. Jaemin is actually enjoying his time with his new pal Chenle and ditches his original plan. Renjun discovers Jaemins little scheme (a little too late) and confronts him about it but while doing so, both find out Jeno is being a snake too. Jaemin and renjun end up becoming the new pair of buddies leaving Jeno with a still unsuspecting and ā€˜just happy to be hereā€™ Chenle. But little did they know,Jisung sees all is not to happy with his hyungs stealing Chenle awayā€¦ā€¦TO BE CONTINUEDĀ
sorry to all who had to read this, this is why I donā€™t write ficsĀ

Chensung--- Jisung's Fear of Dogs
Chenle first becomes Jisungā€™s self-proclaimed protector when Jisung is 7 and a 10 year old pushes him off of the monkey bars at the park. Jisung ends up with a sprained wrist and Chenle ends up being grounded for a few weeks. He manages to convince Jisungā€™s mom to let him go to the hospital with them, and while there Chenle tells Jisung that heā€™s going to be his protector for the rest of his life. He becomes Jisungā€™s helper in class, and Chenle proudly puffs out his chest and says ā€œIā€™m going to protect you from everything scary for the rest of forever.ā€
Being Jisungā€™s self-proclaimed protector, Chenle realizes, is not as easy as his 8 year old self thought it would be. Jisung was never really subject to bullying, so Chenle thinks itā€™s going to be a piece of cake. What he doesnā€™t realize until a few years later, though, is that being Jisungā€™s protector takes a lot of work. Jisungā€™s scared of a lot of things, and usually ends up with his legs shaking and voice wavering as he tells Chenle about whatā€™s spooking him.
Spiders, cockroaches, sudden noises, amusement park rides, and scary movies all make Jisung leap out of his seat in fear. Donghyuck once set Jisungā€™s ipod screen to a photo of a cockroach and Jisung screamed, fell out of his seat, and broke his ipod after throwing it to the ground in his panic. So Chenle sometimes wonders why he signed up for protecting Jisung from EVERYTHING he was afraid of. Most of Jisungā€™s fears donā€™t affect his daily life, and the fear is gone within a few minutes of him being startled. But thereā€™s one fear Jisungā€™s had since he was a kid. Chenle isnā€™t quite sure what caused it, because itā€™s been around almost as long as theyā€™ve been friends.
Jisung misses a few days of school once a few months into their new friendship. Itā€™s the first time it happens and he shows back up with wide eyes, a quiet demeanor, and heā€™s very beaten up. There are scratches all over his legs, arms, and face and theyā€™re accompanied by a littering of bruises and a few large bandages. Chenle has the sense to ask Jisungā€™s mom about it instead of Jisung himself, but she just tells him that itā€™s left Jisung shaken up and not to ask.
Chenle has a few guesses, because Jisung has a few things he refuses adamantly. Amusement parks are out of the questionā€”the injuries wouldā€™ve been worse and Jisung most likely wasnā€™t at an amusement park on a Monday after school hours. Itā€™s been 9 years, and Chenle still hasnā€™t asked Jisung what happened that day. Not when he asks Jisungā€™s mom when theyā€™re 13 and she says it still affects him.
It isnā€™t until theyā€™re at an animal shelter doing some volunteering that Chenle gets a pretty good idea as to what happened to Jisung when he was 6. It isnā€™t too noticeable at first, because Jisung has the tendency to hang around the cats. He startles occasionally when he gets distracted talking to Chenle and a cat bumps into his hand wanting to be pet. But he also takes a liking to the kittens, and he holds them in his lap a lot.
Jisung doesnā€™t mind the little dogs either, but itā€™s when a German Shepherd comes into the room that he startles and backs up against the wall. He eventually unsticks himself from the wall and tries to give Chenle a smile when he notices his staring. Then the dog barks in excitement at one of the other volunteers and Jisung flinches. Hard. Chenle meets his expression of surprise and instead of acknowledging what just happened, he just asks:
ā€œDo you wanna go back to the cats? I think everyone has the dogs covered.ā€
And Jisungā€™s total relief at the question is glaringly obvious as he nods. A happy Border Collie bumps into his legs and Jisung almost screams. His hand clutches Chenleā€™s, and Chenle can feel him shaking and starting to panic as he leads him through the shelter to where the kittens are housed. Jisung remains on edge the entire time, and when they run into another large dog that they have to share an elevator with, Jisungā€™s hiding in the corner and his legs are shaking.
Jisungā€™s fear of big dogs isnā€™t exactly new. Itā€™s one of the most long-term fears of his. Any time they see a big dog Jisung gets jumpy and he has the tendency to hide himself behind Chenle.
ā€œCan I ask you something?ā€ Chenle asks when theyā€™ve reached his apartment and Jisungā€™s beginning to settle down.
ā€œUmā€”ā€
ā€œyou donā€™t have to answer, I was just curious.ā€
Jisung agrees reluctantly.
ā€œWhen we were kids and you showed up to school with all the bruises and band aidsā€¦ā€¦what happened to you??ā€
ā€œYouā€¦..you remember that?ā€ Jisung asks weakly.
ā€œYeah, Iā€™ve always been curious. You justā€¦.never talked about it.ā€
Jisungā€™s quiet for a long time, and then he sighs.
ā€œI was playing in my neighborhood with my cousin. One of the neighbors had a big dog that they usually kept on a chain. Some kid who lived by me enjoyed pissing him off all the time and I guess he just got done with messing with the dog because he was walking away and the dog was barking really loud and trying to get to him. Me and my cousin were across the street and you could hear the chain snap. The dog had gotten so pissed he finally broke it and the kid started running away and he was trying to save himself from the dog so when he ran by me, he threw me down in his path.ā€
Chenleā€™s sitting in shocked silence at the audacity of the kid to throw Jisung in the way.
ā€œThe dog wasnā€™t on me for long. I donā€™t know what made him stop attacking me. I just remember screaming and crying as he tried to scratch me and rip my leg away. I was in the hospital for a couple of days, had to get some stitches and a little bit of surgery to make sure everything healed properlyā€¦.big dogs just freak me out. I know itā€™s dumb because it happened so long ago, but big dogs still freak me out. I wish I wasnā€™t such a wimp about it but then I see a big dog andā€”ā€
ā€œThatā€™s a totally reasonable fear, nobody would judge you for being a wiā€”ā€
ā€œI DONā€™T WANT TO BE SUCH A WIMP, OKAY?!? It sounds so fucking stupid having to tell someone that youā€™re deathly afraid of dogs bigger than a Corgi!! Itā€™s a fucking joke!!ā€
ā€œSeriously?ā€
ā€œYes, you asshole! If itā€™s bigger than a Corgiā€”ā€
ā€œI donā€™t care how big the dog is. You really want to overcome your fear?ā€
ā€œIā€™m tired of feeling like a moron when I have to tell people.ā€
ā€œI can try to helpā€¦.ā€
-
They go back to the shelter the next day, and Chenle tells Jisung to tap out as soon as heā€™s feeling too uncomfortable to continue. They spend some time with the kittens to get Jisung calm and then Chenle brings him into the room where the bigger dogs are kept. Jisung looks pale and nervous, wiping his hands on his jeans and taking a shuddering breath as they sit down. Chenle forces him to look him in the eyes and talk as if thereā€™s no dog in the room. It takes Jisung 6 minutes to tap out of being in close proximity to a Boxer.
ā€œYouā€™re alright,ā€ Chenle says encouragingly as they leave. ā€œThe dog didnā€™t even try to bother you.ā€
Jisung pauses for a moment and supposes that yeah, the dog didnā€™t go near them at all. But it doesnā€™t quell the anxiety when they come back 2 days later with a bigger, more friendly dog. It trots over to nuzzle at his lap and bumps his hand trying to get Jisung to pet it.
ā€œHeā€™s happy to see you,ā€ Chenle says.
But Jisungā€™s too busy focusing on the teeth to move. His head snaps up when Chenle grabs his hand.
ā€œWe can either try to pet him, or we can leave,ā€ he tells Jisung.
Jisung can see his hand shaking and Chenleā€™s fingers wrapped around his wrist. The dog whines and he stands up, the chair making a loud noise as he bolts out of the room and out of Chenleā€™s grip.
-
It takes 2 and a half months for Jisung to get acquainted with being in the same space as a big dog. He still gets uncomfortable if the dogā€™s too excitable and flinches slightly when one of them barks. Chenle sings and chats with him in a soothing voice the entire time and they always leave the situation if Jisungā€™s even a little freaked out.
The dog Jisung tends to run away from still seeks his affection, and heā€™s gotten better at enduring the nuzzling of the dog.
ā€œHe must really want you to pet him,ā€ Chenle laughs softly 3 months into their project.
Jisungā€™s wide eyes meet his and Chenleā€™s face drops from the smile.
ā€œYou donā€™t have to, I just think itā€™s funny that he likes you a lot.ā€
ā€œForce me to pet him,ā€ Jisung says.
ā€œJisung, Iā€™m not going to forceā€”ā€
ā€œGrab my hand and help me stop being such a wimp.ā€
Jisung stands up from his chair and holds out his arm. Chenle wraps his fingers cautiously around Jisungā€™s wrist. His stare feels like itā€™s burning into Jisungā€™s cheek, so he closes his eyes and leans back as far as possible.
ā€œMake me pet him,ā€ Jisung croaks.
Jisung jumps when Chenle moves his hand, and his breath hitches in his throat as he feels the tickle of the dogā€™s nose. His hand wavers and he can sense the dog beneath it, and then Chenle lowers it a little.
ā€œYouā€™re sure?ā€ he asks.
ā€œUmā€¦ā€¦yes.ā€
Jisung gulps and he flinches when the dogā€™s soft fur touches his fingers. He feels Chenle force him to run his hand across the dogā€™s back, feels the dog breathing beneath his hand. Theyā€™re both still for a minute, so Jisung opens his eyes and sees his hand resting on top of the dog. His chuckle is barely inaudible, but Chenle still catches it.
ā€œI pet the dog,ā€ Jisung says.
ā€œYouā€™re still petting him,ā€ Chenle reminds him.
ā€œI did it.ā€
ā€œI know. Iā€™m proud of you.ā€
-
It takes another month for Jisung to become more comfortable with the dogs, even if he just stands in the corner while Chenle gives them a bath. Even if heā€™s not totally cool with dogs and the excitable ones still make him anxious, Chenleā€™s helped him come a long way from the traumatized 6 year old he used to turn into. Whenever he tries to tell Chenle that heā€™ll never be able to repay him, Chenle just shakes his head and says, ā€œthereā€™s nothing to repay. Youā€™re my best friend, itā€™s my job to make sure youā€™re happy.ā€
