First Sentence Game
Rules: share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written less than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway.
1. Steve’s boots crunched on rock and fresh, powdery snow as he stepped toward the edge of Vormir’s cliffs, feeling the Red Skull’s heavy presence at his back. He peered over the side, swallowing back bile and feeling grateful that the bottom of the seemingly endless chasm was too far down and obscured from view. The evidence of what lay at the bottom was all around him.
Playing For Keeps (Romanogers, 25K words, 12/13 chapters complete.)
2. Tim is lonely. He’s lonely in a way that is visceral. In a way that makes his chest seize with it out of nowhere at the most random of times. It’s not that he’s alone. He’s used to that, has spent most of his life that way.
Never Before, and Ever Since (Chenford, 3K words)
3. Rain poured down in sheets, a battering curtain that blurred everything into a gray haze. Steve stood in the middle of it all, his clothes soaked through, forcing sharp, ragged breaths from his lungs. The world around him was silent, as if it was waiting for something to happen. And maybe it was. Maybe the universe knew what was coming, even if Steve didn’t. He wiped a hand across his face, trying to clear his vision, but it didn’t help. Everything was a blur — everything except her.
don't wanna know who we are without each other (Romanogers, 1K words)
4. Lucy knows Tim like the back of her hand. She knows how he likes his coffee (black, unless she has that pumpkin spice oat milk creamer that he adamantly pretends to hate but actually secretly loves.) She knows which shoe he puts on first and exactly how he sorts his paperwork and can tell what his mood is just by pulling up his most recent playlist. Lucy knows far more about Tim than she knows about anyone else, something that happens completely by accident when you spend 12 hours a day with someone for the better part of two years.
You Look Like You Love Me (Chenford, 2.3K words)
5. Tim is 15 minutes into his afternoon backyard play session with Kojo, picking up the slobber-covered tennis ball and tossing it toward the fence, when he gets the call. He hears his phone vibrate somewhere behind him and finds it on the patio table under the zip up hoodie he’d been wearing earlier. The screen is lit up with two missed calls and a slew of texts from Angela, and the hair on his arms stands on end. She never calls him on his day off unless something's wrong.
Between the Heavens and the Embers (Chenford, 4.4K words)
6. Lucy is reeling as the elevator stops on the garage parking level with a ding, the doors sliding open. Tim turns back to look at her one last time. “Good night.” His voice is soft, his smile tight. This is not what she expected when she stepped into that elevator with him, though maybe she should have. Of course she should have. She’s already laid into him once for making light of things, and though they’d joked in the shop earlier that day — the first time in weeks that it felt like maybe, eventually, they would be ok — she knows Tim is taking her seriously. He may not be ready to really talk, but she knows he will be. She just has to be patient.
Could You Hold Me Without Any Talking? (Chenford, 1.9K words)
7. “What do you know about love languages?” Tim doesn’t know what compels him to ask the question, to Thorsen of all people, and when he sees the look on his go-fer’s face he immediately regrets opening his big mouth. Aaron eyes Tim suspiciously, like he’s trying to figure out if there’s a trick hidden somewhere in the seemingly innocent question. “Is this some kind of weird Tim Test?”
Birds of a Feather (Chenford, 3.7K words)
8. The golden-hour sun washes over Tim as he makes his way between the rows of gravestones, stopping at the granite marker with Jackson's name carved into the front. Fresh yellow and white daisies are propped against the headstone, and he knows by the loopy scrawl on the small card that they’re from Lucy. He crouches down and brushes his fingers over her handwriting, his heart clenching in his chest.
I still love you, I promise (Chenford, 3.9K words)
9. Fresh coffee and a view of Steve Rogers’ perfectly sculpted ass were hardly the worst things Natasha had ever been subjected to first thing in the morning. In fact, they might have fallen pretty close to the top of her ‘Best Things to Happen, Ever’ list. Which, in truth, started as a short list that had been quickly filled with Steve-related moments over the last several months.
All Caught Up In the Rush (Romanogers, 1.8K words)
10. Relief flooded Steve’s chest when he heard the keypad lock on the front door beep. He’d lost Sam and Natasha on comms nearly 30 minutes earlier but was forced to stay put at the safe house, per mission protocol. He was up and out of his chair, barely giving them time to finish punching in the code, before he had the door open. The brief moment of relief was swiftly replaced with confusion and fear at the sight in front of him.
Pull me apart, I'll put you back together (Romanogers, 5K words)

Confession: Have been struggling with the whole Chenford storyline since they fell off the rails in 6x06. Just wanted to apologize to anyone who is waiting for more chapters of the fanfict on AO3, 'Total Eclipse of the Heart." Maybe its due to personal past traumas and being scarred before by other TV couples I loved that for whatever reason crashed and burned, but Chenford was a bit of a gut punch for moia. Maybe I was really hoping they would not break up. But back to the fanfiction, there is an outline drafted, however I need more time. Hoping somehow and someday Ill be able to get unblocked. Thank you for those who read, followed, and left reviews, and Godspeed to Lucy and Tim that maybe someday they can become the best versions of themselves, and will find their way back to eachother!

Chris finally works it out.
Chris is stood at the entrance to the station. It’s 7:20 am and he’s already been there sometime. He yawns and stretches out his arms, he’s been working hard with a client and needed some fresh air, a change of scenery and a coffee. At least that’s what he’s telling himself.
He knows this is when Lucy should be arriving for her shift, she will pull into the parking lot, drive round till she finds a space and then walk through the doors directly behind him. Once inside he remembers enough of her routine, they’d not long split up after all, she’ll grab a coffee and maybe a dubious cereal bar if she had been in too much of a rush to eat at home. She’ll circle through the bullpen and catch up which ever of her friends are also on shift. Nolan and his rookie, Bradford, the detective pair (who he can’t help but be slightly nervous of) and anyone else currently in her sunny little world.
He wants to talk, he knows that he hadn’t given her a chance to explain when she had, so unexpectedly, broken up with him at her apartment. It had all been such a shock, they had been happy, planning a future and then suddenly she wanted his playbook (how did she even know what that meant). He had been angry, confused, and stormed out without letting her really talk. If had taken some time to cool down, weeks, but he’d started to wonder if there had been signs she wasn’t happy. That’s when his mind cleared and he was able to focus on the problem. Buying a house. They were moving too fast and she had panicked. It was clear to him now and so was what he needed to do.
So he took a deep breath and rehearsed the little speech he had put together. He still loved her (and of course she loved him), he could slow down, they didn’t need to buy a place straight away. They could live together, at his place, hers was small. They could revisit buying in four maybe even five months. They could get back how it was, it’s what he reallocated wanted. She was forgiven.
Many cars had entered, and left, the lot whilst he’d been waiting. Whilst he was looking very specifically for Lucy’s, he couldn’t help but be distracted by a big silver truck as it slowly drove past. His eyes followed it and he eventually recognised the inhabitants. Tim Bradford, a large, glowering man who Chris liked to think he was nothing like. Tim was brave and strong, sure, but Chris liked to think he was more evolved. He was a lawyer, an organ donor and not so focused on looking like a tough guy that he couldn’t crack a smile. Of course Chris had seen him smile, at the restaurant on the beach with his girlfriend and Lucy. Chris rolled his eyes, Tim had barely let anyone get a word in that night, he must have been so keen to impress his girlfriend. Lucy had told him on the way home that Tim was making holiday plans, it was getting serious.
The passenger, was Lucy. Chris was surprised, he wasn’t sure where Tim lived but he was pretty sure it wasn’t in a convenient place to just swing by and grab Lucy for a ride to work. Maybe there was something up with her car, or with Tamara’s car and Lucy had let her use hers. Chris sighed, there were plenty of logical reasons, she’ll probably order an Uber home or get a lift from Nolan or one of the scary detectives. His eyes, unwilling, follow the truck to a spot and he watches while they park, it’s not easy to see but they look like they’re laughing.
He watches as Tim jumps out his side and quickly walks round to open the door for Lucy, she laughs and he can see her eyes rolling from a distance away. Inside joke, another one, typical. Chris feels his eyes widen as Tim casually slides his hand around Lucy’s back and guides her through the parking lot, talking animatedly the whole time. Lucy is smiling up at him, not looking where she’s going. Trusting the arm around her, to guide her through the cars. Chris feels his mouth slacken when he sees Lucy twist slightly in his arm, she reaches up to swat at Tim’s chest. He has his head thrown back in a proper laugh but he still manages to gently catch her wrist. Chris watches both their expressions change as Tim rubs a slow, gentle circle with his thumb on the soft inside of her wrist. The playful smiles gone, replaced with an intense gaze. It seems too intimate, Chris shouldn’t be watching but he can’t stop. The pair seem to realise where they are and their heads snap round, looking about them. Tim let’s go of Lucy’s wrist and slowly removes his hand from the small of her back, he straightens back up to his full height and they continue walking towards the doors, still deep in conversation.
Chris takes a step back, he turns to the side and takes out his phone. He pretends to take a call, he glances up slightly as Tim and Lucy walk past and into the building. It’s clear they’ve not noticed him, they only have eyes for each other. Chris waits five minutes before heading in, he’s seen enough (for now) and it’s time to go.

Honestly the whole situation is just proof how parasocial people are with celebrities they don’t know, and especially white men: i’ve seen those kind behaviors in so much other ships
Like, they could’ve just said “that’s weird, she shouldn’t have said that” and go on with their days but no, they had to criticize her career, her character and her relationship with her husband, publicly on the internet ? It’s like they were waiting for a reason to dislike her.
Bc let’s face it, most of chenford fans on twitter hide behind this ship when actually they’re shipping the actors together and secretly want them to end up together, but at the end, they’re just making awkward for everybody.
The problem is not that people are offended about some things Ros said in the podcast, which can be totally valid, the problem is that they’re trying to act like Eric is some victim trapped in his marriage: when he disagree with his wife, he says it openly, that’s how a marriage actually work, and if there some issues in their marriage, that is absolutely not our business.
We don’t know what happens behind doors and they been married for almost 2 decades, we don’t know how their dynamic as a couple is, and they tend to forget that they don’t actually know this man : if her behavior was really bothering him, he would’ve left years ago, there is not need to babying a 48 year old man.
He knows who he married, he has free will.
And let’s not get started on how they using all of this as an opportunity to pit against each other his wife and his coworker/friend, like he’s some trophy: it’s truly pathetic
Nobody is forcing them to like his wife, but if it affects his work and how he interacts publicly with Mel, that would be entirely their fault bc trust that if he has to choose between his marriage and his work, he will absolutely choose his marriage, no matter how much he loves his job.
I really hope it doesn’t happen bc I really love chenford (I literally started the show bc I’ve seen clips of them on tik tok and thought that they had great chemistry), but stans are really it for all of us, just bc they don’t know how to behave like normal people over a fictional ship.
I talked about nearly all of the points you bring up in my previous posts.
Also, notice the changes in eric's and especially ros's social media posts following this recent wave of criticism directed at Roselyn. On top of that, she's now with him in Miami at his Palm Republic M&Gs AND supposedly she'll be with him at the M&G in Paris too, where Mel is scheduled to be. She has completely valid reasons for being by her man but it's also a "back off my marriage!" power move. I've seen people hate her for being his plus one ... like??? I stg they only hate it b/c it ruins their delusion illusion of Meleric.

It can’t just be me who thinks that it’s too soon for chenford to have a baby- as well as getting married..
Like there is a lot of fans out there who says “omg I hope they have a baby in s6” but like if you think about it they’ve only been together for like 7-8months.. Lucy’s only just starting her career and Tim has started metro- and everything with Aaron it’s not the best time.
Obviously I would like them to get married and have kids but maybe in s7 IF they make one 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Oh man, I haven't seen this take yet! Obviously I know people are obsessed with giving them fictional babies but I didn't realize it was something people were actually expecting for S6. 😅
Meanwhile I'm over here with my little goal of them moving in together by the end of the season (if that), haha! Two types of people, I suppose.
#for personal reasons i'm not a big 'i really want my ships to have kids' girlie but obv respect to those who are!#i fully expect them to have kids down the line but not really anytime soon imo#though i do think fandom thinks they're both a lil more kid crazy than they actually are in canon#ask#anonymous#cs meta#chenford

opened tiktok to a fan edit of eric and roselyn and had to laugh at the top comment that read, "i'm just so glad for once that the fans don't ignore the wife and try to push two fictional characters to date in real life" because idk what fandom this person is talking about because there is always that one ☝️ egghead out there commenting on chenford edits like, "i ship them in real life too! 😍" and everytime i see one of these comments it makes me want to throw my laptop against the wall because after 6 years you'd think people would learn that eric and melissa kissing on screen is literally just a part of their jobs as actors.
they're only acting as if they are in love, they will never actually be in love. thanks for coming to my tedtalk.
#*carly catalogs#the chenford fandom is actually one of the worst fandoms in terms of shipping celebs that play a couple on tv imo#the way some people in this fandom can't seem to separate tim from eric and lucy from melissa is ACTUALLY deeply concerning to me#and i find it deeply irritating on roselyn's behalf cause she is seriously SUCH A GEM!!!!!!#she's like a latina sandra bullock! i love her!!#she's gorgeous funny and seems so sweet!#i'm sure they have their ups and downs as any couple does but from what i've seen of them together they are so fucking happy and in love#it's honestly so fucking cute everybody deserves a husband like eric!!!! 😊💕#and if they ever get a divorce i will be SO DEVASTATED idk what i'll do with myself#not that i'm too worried about that they've been going strong since 2008 but i'm just sayin'....#the rookie#roselyn sanchez#eric winter#melissa o'neil#tim bradford#lucy chen#chenford

This is about Chenford, Lucy Chen (Chinese, possibly mixed) and Tim Bradford (White)— WOC x WM— on The Rookie. I know you’ve received messages about racism and misogyny pertaining to this ship before, and I want to bring to your attention this latest instance. I’m seriously considering documenting these incidents moving forward because this stuff has been going on for years and every time someone tries to explain why racialized misogyny and anti Asian racism is not okay, they get villainized by (mostly) white fans.
This particular situation involves three people:
@thecichyraven (Raven)
Aly (@centralperkchenford/@niamsagram on Tumblr and AO3, respectively)
An AO3 guest commenter (Guest).
For context, both Raven and Aly are white. Their racialized misogyny and anti-Asian racism took place here in the comments:
https://www.tumblr.com/centralperkchenford/767466596482613248/okay-so-i-came-across-this?source=share
https://archiveofourown.org/works/57509746/chapters/146661139
Here’s what happened:
Raven shared a video of a fully white child she imagined as Chenford’s kid. Like I'm talking blonde, straight out of Sweden, white.
Guest challenged this, pointing out that kid looks nothing like Lucy, racially. The issue here is not that biracial kids can’t be white-passing (I won't even get into white-passing biracials being uncommon), it’s that in this fandom, anything involving Lucy is 99% of the time HC’ed and represented as fully white. When questions about diversity are raised, the response is defensive or hostile.
Raven used racially charged words like “scary” and “hate to frame Guest’s critique as aggressive.
Aly sympathized with Raven and apologized on behalf of Guest, implying that Guest was in the wrong for their anti-racist views.
Raven and Aly wrote 6 racially charged messages, with Raven justifying her hate by saying it’s “just fanfiction” (it’s not) and using cliches like “don’t like, don’t read.” She says things like:
“no one asked for your opinions love 🥰.”
“ Please dont ever comment ever again for the sake of all of us”
“And its called FAN FICTION. If you dont like it, dont read it.”
“Maybe use your brain a little, boo.”
Raven and Aly basically turned Guest into the problem while continuing to reinforce their imposition of whiteness onto Lucy, a WOC. This is just one instance of a widespread issue in my fandom. I could get into the countless other instances that Aly or others have expressed racialized misogyny and anti-Asian racism but I’ll save it for another time.
It’s demoralizing to see (presumably) fans of color repeatedly dismissed or vilified for pointing this out about WOC. What steps can we take towards fixing this problem in my fandom? Any advice or support you can offer would be great.
I'm so sorry I didn't answer this sooner!!! It's been in our inbox for like a month now. I've just been really busy with taking care of my elderly parents and work and depression.
I would advise you to keep doing what you're doing and continue to document all of the fandom racism/racialized misogyny. It helps if you keep in in a central location like a sideblog tbh. Also if you want help documenting stuff ask any fans that seem like-minded to help you out! Or if you don't have any friends that are like-minded consider coming off anon and joining us here! (you don't have to be a woman to join us here just an intersectional feminist).
Followers please reblog this to get the word out that this fandom is erasing a woc!!!

Chenford Breakup
First, this post is long as hell. And second, I'm sorry if this post goes in circles a bit. My mind's a chaotic place to be. I just hope it makes some sense to others. Read more under the cut.
I feel like I'm one of a few who isn't really freaking out about Tim breaking up with Lucy. Do I like it? Definitely not. Do I want them to get back together? As soon as reasonably possible. I want both of them to get therapy and make their way back to each other.
I'm not going to hate on the actors or the characters and I ask that you respectfully do the same if you comment on my posts. I'm not saying, don't be upset. It's how you feel and it's valid. I just ask anyone who engages with me, to not be rude or a jerk if we have differing views on things.
I'm hoping the breakup doesn't last long. I'm hoping that Tim realizes he made a mistake. Not in trying to protect Lucy, but in how he went about it. He didn't give her a choice. He basically said, "I'm trying to protect you, and the best way to do that is to push you away and break up with you." Tim needs to see things from Lucy's POV. She's an adult and she can decide if she wants to risk her career and her life. He also needs to respect her and their relationship enough to be honest with her. Before anyone jumps in and says I'm ganging up on Tim, I'm not. I love Tim as a character and I love Lucy as a character. I just think that Tim needs to work on his communication skills some more. I feel like they both need therapy and I want them to get it. I want them to be happy and healthy and still in love with each other, once they both have been working on their issues for a bit.
I really hope the show gets renewed for season 7. I want to see them both get therapy. I want to see them communicate more. I want to see them happy. I want to see them in love. I want to see honesty. I want to see them working together. Laughing together. All the things that make them great as a couple and as singular characters.
I'm not going to let the breakup ruin the show for me. I watch the show mainly for Chenford. I like them as a couple and as singular characters. I like Wopez, also as a couple and as singular characters. I love Grey and his wife, and Nyla, Genny and Aaron. I don't care about most of the other characters. I guess what I'm saying is, I'm not going to stop watching the show just because Chenford broke up. I used to watch General Hospital and my former favorite couple used to break up and get back together for years. I don't like the back and forth, but I'll put up with it for a short time. If the show gets renewed for season 7 and Tim and Lucy show no signs of reconciliation by the end of that season, or by the end of this season and the show gets cancelled, then I will just be done with the show.
A lot of fans are having a knee-jerk reaction to the break up right now, and are threatening to drop the show and are harassing the actors. First, it's just a TV show, get a grip. And second, Eric and Melissa are just actors. Don't harass them about fictional characters. It's ridiculous and I don't want to see a repeat of the psycho behaviors of a select few that react like some of the Olicity fandom from Arrow did, each time Oliver and Felicity broke up. This post turned out longer than I meant, and it came out preachy, which wasn't my intention, sorry. But these are my thoughts, thanks for reading.

🦋 ⇢ link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like it
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
FROM TRUTH OR DARE! if your still doing it!
first question…
i don’t personally make any sort of fan art, so i don’t have a favorite piece, but! here’s the link of a fan art that i came across a few years back that someone else made! and what i like about it, is that the fan art piece is one of my favorite fictional characters from one of my favorite shows that i’ve loved for quite some time now!
second question…
headcanon- chenford tend to go to dodger games for their date nights!
truth and dare ask game

What chenford prompts do you enjoy writing?? 🧡💗🧡
Mostly the kind sent to me by angels in the dead of night. 😅 AKA my own idea goblins that take over my brain.
If I were to write to a prompt, I would probably not respond well to the kind of more "fan fiction-y" ones, meaning the generic sort of prompts like "coffee shop AU" or "X is jealous." I can enjoy reading these kinds of fics, but if I'm writing self-indulgent fan fiction, I will be writing my own self-indulgent ideas.
The best kind of prompts for me would be more character-driven ones that recognize what is true and unique about the characters and their dynamic, not some distorted fanon version. Canon-compliant prompts that fill in missing moments could also be good.
All of this is subject to my own whims. I will never promise that I can fulfill a prompt, as I will only write stuff that genuinely inspires and intrigues me.
Thanks for the ask!
