Harder in an interview: “We will bring our quality to the pitch”
Pernille Harder has been chasing goals for FC Bayern Women since this season . Ahead of the upcoming top game on Sunday against VfL Wolsburg, fcbayern.com  spoke to the 30-year-old Dane about her current rehab, her first months in Munich and the duel against her former club.
The interview with Pernille Harder
Hello, Pernille. After your injury, you are already on the road to recovery. How is your rehab going so far? Pernille Harder : “So far it’s working very well. I'm on the right path. Everything is going as planned at the moment and I'm feeling better every day. I notice how I'm making steady progress. Im very satisfied and of course I’m looking forward to returning to the pitch soon.”
Before your injury, you had already scored three goals for FC Bayern Women in your first four competitive games. How comfortable do you already feel at FC Bayern?  “I really enjoyed my start here in Munich. The team welcomed me well and made things very easy for me right from the start. I was also able to internalize our style of play very quickly. It's a shame that I got injured so early in the season in Essen, but I'm looking forward. When I'm back, of course I want to pick up where I last left off ( laughs ).”
You've been at home in Munich for around three months now. Were you able to settle in well in your new home? “Yes, I really like it here in Munich, the city is great. I have already tried many restaurants and cafés and of course also explored the city. There are many great locations, especially in Maxvorstadt. I'm looking forward to the next few years in Munich. It’s very promising here.”
Let's take a look at the sporting side of things: The top game against the Wolves , who you played for from 2017 to 2020, awaits on Sunday. During your time there you played with Ewa Pajor and Alexandra Popp, among others. What makes VfL's attack line special? “We all know the qualities of Wolfsburg’s offensive. Ewa Pajor is incredibly fast and has a very good finish. Alexandra Popp's strengths are primarily in the box; her header is very dangerous. We have to take good care of them from the start.”
Wolfsburg won't have an easy time against your defense; you have the best defense in the league with only two goals conceded. What makes you so strong in the defense network? “I think we are very stable as a team. This is incredibly important for the entire season and we want to continue to work on it continuously. We have very good defensive players in our team and a clear structure. The whole team puts a lot of emphasis on defensive work, I think that’s why we’re so strong at the back.”
VfL and FCB Frauen are the dominant teams in German women's football, having won all of the last eleven championships between themselves. Are there similarities between the clubs? "Yes of course. The way you train in big clubs like Bayern, Wolfsburg or Chelsea is often very similar. All of the top teams are characterized by an exceptional mentality and attitude. You can feel that every day and it certainly sets the clubs apart.”
Wolfsburg surprisingly failed to qualify for the Champions League. In the league there was a draw against TSG Hoffenheim after four wins. How do you assess VfL's current form? “Wolfsburg is a very strong team. They are always there, especially in these top games. We have to be ready. But I also believe that we have a very strong team and will bring our quality to the pitch on Sunday. We are in good form and I firmly believe that we will leave the field as winners. But of course we know that we have to work hard for victory. It will be a close game, but at the end of the day we will get the win. I’m looking forward to watching the game in the stadium on Sunday.”

Injury Ravaged Liverpool Prevail in Carabao Cup Final - Mark Soliman
The Carabao Cup is a dynamic annual knockout competition in men's domestic football, featuring 92 diverse clubs across England, each showcasing their skills and capabilities.
Liverpool FC has beat every opposing club on their path to the trophy, reaching the final against Chelsea FC, which took place on February 25th.
Heading into the match, Liverpool faced a daunting challenge with a significant number of injuries, totaling 11, among which 7 are bona fide starters crucial to Liverpool's system.
Hence, Liverpool relied on their reserves and a selection of players summoned from their youth teams to secure victory in the final.
Liverpool's injury struggles escalated dramatically as Ryan Gravenberch was forced off on a stretcher less than half an hour into the Carabao Cup final, following a heavy collision from Chelsea player Moises Caicedo.
Both teams were on the forefront, exchanging attacks, yet failing to capitalize on crucial opportunities to score and ultimately secure the highly sought-after trophy.
At the end of the regulation, the match stood at a stalemate with a score of 0-0. Subsequently, the game proceeded to extra time, where both teams continued to exchange blows in their quest for a breakthrough.
In a fitting turn of events, Liverpool's captain and world-class defender, Virgil van Dijk, secured victory with a game-winning header off a corner in the final minute of the match.

Once again, despite being plagued by injuries, Liverpool displayed resilience and ultimately achieved the desired result, clinching victory in the match and securing their tenth Carabao Cup in the club's history.

New: Chelsea beats Armenian side 8-0 in Europa League
Chelsea set a new UEFA Europa Conference League record by thrashing Armenian team FC Noah 8-0. Playing a different squad from their usual Premier League lineup, Chelsea led 6-0 by halftime. I'm not sure if this is the wrong account but I think you have mentioned being a Chelsea fan.(apologies if I've got it wrong) but if you watched that game against Paris FC what is your honest assessment of it. I watched the first half and the amount of times Paris FC got past the Chelsea defence if they were only 5% more clinical I think it would have caused problems. I understand this was Chelsea's b team but a performance like that against any clinical side and surely it's a loss. Chelsea had just the 4 shots on target which they were clinical with but is that enough creativity against a better defense. Would love your opinion on this maybe I am being too critical.
I'm a major Chelsea fan.
What you said is precisely what worries me and I kept wishing Bjorn was on the pitch. I think some of those defensive problems will be solves once she joins the QFs. Chelsea have always lacked creativity if you ask me, when Sam isn't playing and sadly Fishel doesn't have that. Fran does, but she's been off lately. The header against Paris FC was great, but I worry her old flare is gone, and it's always more prominent when she's playing with Sam on the pitch. So we have a huge loss here. Also Paris FC goal keeping was down right atrocious. I fear we won that match more as a result of their keeper than our attackers.
It's precisely what concerns me about us making it to the Final. Lyon is more creative. PSG is getting there, and Barca are the most brilliant in attack and midfield. Luckily Barca's defence is terrible with no Mapi there, and Lyon aren't much better. Renard isn't what she used to be.
I think defensively Chelsea will eventually be ok. It's the attack I'm worried about, unless Fran and Erin can majorly step up. And I am VERY hopeful about Ramirez. Too early to tell. We'll have a better idea when they get more settled in WSL games next month.

This Is Class' Firmino Explodes Saudi Opening Hat Trick…Al Ahli won 3-1
Roberto Firmino (Al Ahli) scored a hat trick in the opening game.
Al Ahli beat Al-Hajim 3-1 in the first round of the Saudi professional league in the 2023-2024 season at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at 3 a.m. on the 12th (Korea Standard Time).
Firmino, who left Liverpool to join Al Ahli after the 2022-2023 season, started as a front-line striker. Al Ahli has deployed Alain Saint-Makshin of Newcastle United, Riyad Mahrez of Manchester City on the second line of attack and Frank Kessi of FC Barcelona in the midfield. The goal was defended by Eduard Mendy, who moved from Chelsea.
It took only six minutes for Firmino to score his debut goal. In the 6th minute of the first half, the ball passed through Mahrez to the right led to a cross, and Firmino, who was waiting in the box, opened the net with an accurate header.
In the 10th minute of the first half, 4 minutes after the first goal was scored, Firmino broke the net again. Marez, rushing with the ball from the right flank, posted a low and quick cross, and Firmino scored without a mistake.
Al Ahli, who finished the first half with a 2-0 lead, conceded a goal to Al Hazm in the 5th minute of the second half to make the score 2-1.
However, in the 27th minute of the second half, Firmino's toes spewed fire again. This time Saint-Maximin crosses from the left flank and Firmino heads in. The goalkeeper made a save, but Firmino completed the hat trick by pushing the bounced ball back.
