WRITE IN YOUR COOKBOOKS.

One day, your loved ones will see your notes in the margins and your scribbled additions and feel you there with them.

My grandma is currently dying and recently gave me her oldest cookbook held together with like 6 rubber bands because she used it for so long and wrote in it so much.

Food and recipes, more than maybe any other tangible item, are ways we live on for centuries, and ways we can tell people we love them long after our mouths and minds lose that ability.

If you don’t have a recipe book of your own and don’t trust yourself with one, get a big box and write stuff down (or print, cut, and glue the info) into index cards. You can organize them alphabetically or according to your own system or not at all!! But at least everything will be the same size and easy to sort.

When my sister got married, for her wedding shower all the guests wrote down a recipe on the front of an index card and a piece of life advice on the back.

I gave my sister a recipe for cheddar and hatch green chile cornbread and told her to make sure she’s in photos as much as she takes photos so she remembers enjoying her life and not just watching it.

Her mom organized all the recipes into a box for her.

Also: JUST PRINT IT OUT. Put it in a binder or whatever. You might have time to organize it later or you might not. Fine. Just have it somewhere.

We even have one family recipe engraved on a charcuterie board so we never lose it.

Finally: back it up to a cloud. Scan the recipes. Save them to a document folder. Copy and paste them all into a digital notebook. Whatever. Just…Have a backup in case of flood or fire.

You should be starting a recipe book. I don't give a shit if you're only 20-years-old. The modern web is rotting away bit by bit before our very eyes. You have no idea when that indie mom blog is going down or when Pinterest will remove that recipe. Copy it down in a notebook, physically or digitally. Save it somewhere only you can remove it. Trust me, looking for a recipe only to find out it's been wiped off the internet is so fucking sad. I've learned my lesson one too many times.

Things I Did Today:

3 batches of gluten free cornbread.

3 batches of regular cornbread

Homemade turkey stock

Turned homemade turkey stock into gravy

Chopped onions and celery for stuffing and mirepoix

Cleaned my room (literally the hardest thing I’ve done all day. Thanks executive dysfunction)

Dry brined turkey

Cleaned my office

Packed two huge bags of clothes for the new house

Trolled my sister (LOL sorry @will-write-for-food I love you so much)

Still to do:

3 more batches of cornbread (for eating not for stuffing)

Shower

Make stuffing

Chop carrots for mirepoix

All he did was gush about Adam but Lucifer interpreted it as bragging, forgetting that back in Eden, Lucifer gushed about Lilith all the time too. Adam is the one who is bragging though. While I do love Adam getting his revenge, Adam needs to get humbled down too.

note to self to write a world-building headcanon regarding eden's band and her connections, and other interrelated things.

her main and canon story is based in a low / urban fantasy version of our world, with her casino being based in las vegas. that being said, supernatural creatures and people live among humans, mostly in disguise for their own preservation, though few very perceptive ( or necessary to business ) humans will aware of some others' identities.

mainly i want to talk about how much of the bigger mainstays and big names in the entertainment industry are actually demons ( whether they're using bodies as a host and reinventing identities or stealing identities; very rarely does a demon have their own corporeal form, because that's like next-level higher ranked and closer to origin source demons ), because what better way to steal souls for hell than to sell the gilded dreams of fame and fortune to people desperate enough to make it big?

OH AND BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSEEEEE i can do this since i write ahri / evelynn / morgana, their music verse aus are very much tied to the same kind of low / urban fantasy world. i am very attached to ahri and evelynn's identities as they are in league ( re: being a kumiho + demon ) so of course it's transplanted into their music / modern aus as well, and it works out so well with eden's canon so like why not blend it all together. my blogs my rules. also it's so much fun with eve being a demon. my brain. massive.
