By the time Nela meets with her brother again she is in her (physical) mid-20s and her twin brother is in his 90s (fairly youthful for his age because he would also be a high level spellcaster, but very much an elder).
Assuming his brother had children (which is my idea) and that every generation had at least one descendant, that would mean that by the time they meet again her brother (Samel) has already at least ONE great grandchild. His grandkids would be at the youngest of Nela's approximate age.
Those family reunions gonna be wild.

Bean and nothingness
I watched Patricia Taxxon's video on Bean and nothingness. I haven't played the game, but now it's on my list. I would have Clicked off earlier, but I accidentally skipped to phase 2.5 in an attempt to avoid solutions - there is nothing more annoying than a spoiled solution set on your first go. But there I found myself encapsulated by my own pursuit of study: Math. It was here that I pushed forward because well, no one talks about this subject and its worth hearing people out even if they need to hand you a solution set.
Both of these videos Patricia Taxxon's and a prerequisite video by Owen Maitzen serve as an introduction to the world of math in videogames. Not the math used to make the videogames. Not the animation math or the math that gives physics. Not even math that gives you those god tier minecraft graphics. They detail the math that describes the games themselves.
Owen's Work does a bulk of the mathematical heavy lifting. It's the fundamental building block that Taxxon Needed to start this essay because - An assuming that Taxxon doesn't have a math background - the hidden piece for so many students is that math is "useful" Because we made it to be, but this isn't math's nature.
It's here where Taxxon really come into its own because she is able to see through the numbers and actually describe what about beans and nothingness was inspired by the act of mathematics-ing. At 28:30 In Its video, Taxxon talks about how she solved a specific puzzle by building up familiarity with small pieces enough to build a solution to that problem while also going back to see if that solution was unique[that there is one and only one solution] and then find the others. So much of the video talks about the structure of mathematics. Its components, and how and why mathematicians do what they do. it [both the video and Taxxon] loves math and even without numbers it[both the video and Taxxon] knows math. I really can't express how much I love this video or how much I adore Taxxon for seeing all of this and putting it all into words.
One of the things about being a mathematician is that people inevitably ask you why are you doing this. Why Is there a difference between an answer and a solution. Why do you have to generalize everything. Why does it matter that the question isn't defined for numbers greater than two? And mathematicians are pretty grizzled from the fact that they have had hundreds of years to come up with a good answer to the question "why be a mathematician?' and we still come up with nothing, because people respond to "I want to study math because I love math" with comments about usefulness and money and capitalism and all sorts of things. Patricia Taxxon was right about academia and thus math a form of art, but I think we can expand that a bit. Math is an act of creation and discovery. That is the fun part. Sometimes you play with other people's constraints and sometimes you play with your own and when you get stuck you work through it. It ties into A mathematics lament by Paul Lockhart. math gets really weird when you go off of the beaten trail. Not all arithmetic has to work like it does. Some arithmetic can be non-commutative[ab does not equal ba]. Arithmetic has other properties that we can take for granted. so much of what we perceive as math, is the math we have taken for granted or allowed ourselves to think of as the total math and not a subset.
What makes Patricia Taxxon's video Imporant is the fact that she is so kind and cheerful about it all. This is a new discovery. It loves the math and wants you to join in that participation as well. Taxxon has a glee about this that I don't think I could muster even though we both share a love of math. I don't think I want to talk about "what is math?" anymore with younger college students because what every expression of love for math I can scrounge up will ultimately come with harsh, reductive tones even when I truly love the subject I talk about. and its important that people see this and talk about it.
If you want to start learning math I recommend the Book of Proofs by Richard Hammock. Trust me its a book that only requires arithmetic to get started. there is algebra, but early on it's skippable. youll find a copy of the pdf free on his website and at low cost through normal sources.
Just remember to skip chapter 3 on your first go around (or don't) and then possably the chapter covering calculus proofs.

I vote leo meeting the harvard team! 💕
So this fic has been a bit of a mare to write, but we are here!
You can read the first part of this here
Rating: T
CW: Alcohol, academic superiority complex and coming out.
Logan, Finn, Leo, Percy, Will and the general Sweater Weather universe belongs to @lumosinlove. The other team members were made up by me for this fic.
“Okay, tell me their names again,” Leo said, tugging at the rolled neck of his sweater as he shut the car door.
“Nutty,” Finn laughed. “There’s not going to be a pop quiz. We’ll introduce you when we meet people.”
Leo scowled, letting Logan thread their fingers together. It was weird being able to do this in public still and Leo couldn’t help but glance around. “I just don’t want to make a fool of myself.” Logan squeezed his hand reassuringly, meeting Leo’s gaze with a soft smile.
“Nobody expects you to know anything. And everybody’s great.” Logan wrinkled his nose like he’d just smelt something bad. “Except Wesley, he’s an ass, but I’ll point him out.”
Like many of the others in Harvard square, the building was all exposed brick and white accents, blending in seamlessly with those around it. Inside was different, more modern. Leo didn’t get to see much of the first floor, the one dedicated to the restaurant Finn, Logan and the rest of the team had dined at previous evening, before he was ushered up a grand staircase, but he’d seen the photographs. The cherry blossom ceilings and walls of glass provided the perfect backdrop for the instagram feeds of the hoards of celebrities and influencers that flocked there. Hence his surprise when, after checking their invitations again, an employee pushed open a set of double doors to reveal a room that more resembled a 1920’s speakeasy than anything 21st century. A loud cheer went up as they crossed the threshold.
“Is this a team thing?” Leo mouthed at Logan.
He got his answer from Percy Marshall. Leo had met him a few times before when they’d played the Rangers. “You’re the last to arrive,” Percy chuckled. “I’d say I was surprised, but that would be a lie.” He slapped a hand playfully against Finn’s bicep. Is this outfit change number 52, Finn? Don’t worry, you didn’t disappoint. You look wonderful.”
“Fuck you, Marshy,” Finn laughed. “Tremz was on a call to his sisters actually.”
“Oh, I do apologise,” Percy clasped his hand to his chest. “We wouldn’t dare break up a Tremblay soiree.”
“You’re an ass,” Logan scoffed, plucking at Finn’s slacks. “I was only talking to them because Finn was taking so long. Did you know there are several shades of mustard and only one of them goes with this shirt?”
“Oh look, they argue like an old married couple too,” William Morgan, another of those Leo knew, and Percy’s teammate on the Rangers, teased. “Marshy, these hands are looking too empty. Get these men a drink.”
“Aye, aye, capt’n.” Leo set to follow as Percy led the way to the bar, stumbling slightly as he found Will’s firm grasp on his shoulder stopping his movement. Logan turned as his fingers slipped from his hand.
“Go ahead, Tremzy. I’m going to introduce Leo to some of the team. We want all the gossip without you two around to censor him.”
Logan frowned. “I’m not sure -”
“Relax, Logan. This isn’t a hazing. We’ll be right over there,” Will pointed towards a group perched on stools around two of the tables in the centre of the room, a mix of the old team and what Leo assumed were their partners. “Knut’s a big boy. He can object for himself if he really doesn’t want to come.”
“I’m sure I can hold my own,” Leo cocked his head slightly and smiled. “You better not leave Harzy with Percy for too long. They’ll be three shots down by now.”
The next few hours passed in a whirlwind of introductions. Leo had lost count of the number of hands he'd shaken and the new names he'd learned. It reminded him of those first few days in Gryffindor, being shuffled around from place to place and everybody telling him he'd get used to it.
The quiet of the bathroom was a welcome reprieve to the chaos. “Sweetheart,” Leo laughed, listening to Finn sing to himself in the stall. “Are you okay? You’ve been in there a while.”
“I’m coming, I’m coming.” A concerningly loud crash preceded the door being pushed open. “I’m here.”
“You’re drunk,” Leo chuckled.
Finn pulled his hands from under the stream of water, shaking droplets everywhere as he squeezed the tips of his thumb and forefinger together. “Maybe just the tiniest bit.”
Leo shook his head fondly. “Let’s go and find Lo.” Glancing back to check Finn was following him proved to be a mistake. “Shit, I’m sorry,” he apologised, rubbing at his forehead and stepping back from the wall of muscle he’d just crashed into. Of course, the tall man with his hair pulled back into a loose ponytail was the one person Leo hadn’t yet met.
“Leo, this is James. Call him Hunter,” Finn grinned with his hand resting in the small of Leo’s back. "Hunter, this is -"
"Leo Knut. I know. Everybody knows," Hunter said and Leo noted the familiar notes of his own accent in the words. He faltered with his hand thrust halfway in Leo's direction, letting it fall back by his side. "Oh fuck, sorry man. Did you want to introduce him as your boyfriend? Go ahead."
"It's cool, no worries." Finn shrugged, the rounds of his cheeks tinged with the slightest of blushes. "Aww, what the heck!" He squared his shoulders, standing a little taller, the corners of his mouth splitting with pride. "Hunter, this is Leo, my boyfriend."
Hunter extended his hand again for Leo to shake. “Nice to meet you. Please excuse me, I have to use the bathroom now, but we’ll talk later.”
***
"Boys." The call had come from behind them and Logan groaned low in his chest as they turned to acknowledge it.
"Wes! You made it," Finn smiled, the corners of his mouth tight. "We weren't sure you'd be able to. With all those big meetings you have to attend and such. Is your wife, Renee, wasn’t it, here? I'd love to meet her."
Something flickered in Wes' smug expression. "They stayed in California. Nate has a very busy schedule. Harvard is very important to me, as you know, so I came alone."
“Isn’t Nate three?” Logan blinked.
“You have to give them a good start if you want them to get them to get into a good college these days, I’m sure you understand. Where was it you went, Leo?"
Leo pursed his lips, letting the same calm wash over him that he channelled for interviews. “I didn’t go. I got drafted straight out of high school.”
“Oh, well, that’s a shame,” Wes said. “College isn’t for everybody though, is it?”
Logan bristled beside him, and Leo placed a placating hand on his shoulder. “Indeed,” he blinked. “I didn’t need my intelligence validated by a degree then, and I still don’t now. And I was hardly about to turn down an offer from The Gryffindor Lions now, was I?”
Wes grumbled something that sounded vaguely like an agreement before turning on his heel and walking off in a manner that Leo could only describe as petulant.
“You’re so hot,” Finn took Leo’s face between his hands and pressed a kiss to his lips. “I’m going to get a drink. Do you want another?”
“Please,” Leo nodded. Logan raised his still mostly full glass as a rejection of the offer.
“You should have let me punch him,” Logan huffed. “He would have deserved it.”
"And get blood on your shirt? Let’s leave that on the ice, shall we?” Leo tugged at the lapels of Logan’s jacket.
***
"So," Logan started as they claimed one of the low tables in the corner, a little tucked away from the rest of the room. "What do you think?"
"It's always nice seeing where you two started," Leo hummed, threading his fingers through the thin curls on the nape of Logan's neck. "I just don't know how you used to do this everyday. Live amongst all this energy. The guys all seem great, but it's a lot even now and I'm assuming you've all mellowed somewhat with age."
"I am not old," Logan scoffed. "Mais non, I agree. Wasn't always like this though. There's more than one graduating class here and we've been apart a long time. A lot of excitement."
"Sorry, sorry, I got caught up with Biscuit. He has triplets now, isn't that crazy?" Finn said, pressing a glass into Logan’s hand and setting Leo’s in front of him before flopping onto the couch opposite. "One Margarita for the fine sir."
"Thanks, Harzy," Leo laughed lightly.
"I can't believe him and Vanessa are still together," Logan hummed, taking a long sip of his drink. He leaned back, crossing his left leg over his right thigh and snaked his arm across the dark leather, brushing his fingers against Leo's shoulder. "I only introduced them because she was flirting with you at that party, the one just after we got back from winter break my junior year, and I wanted to distract her."
"Oh, so that's why you got all moody," Finn said. "She wasn't flirting, she needed help with an essay, idiot."
"The fact you remember Logan's mood on a night seven years ago says more about you than him," Leo snorted.
"First of all, Tremzy being grumpy? That's just a good guess. Second, some of us were still stupid at 20, Knutty." Finn sighed wistfully. "Hey, at least it doesn't feel like I'm being stabbed in the chest these days when I think about it. Progress, right?"
Logan tipped his glass in Finn's direction, nodding his head briefly. "I'll cheers to that."
"To -" Leo started, letting the toast die off as another of Finn and Logan's old team mates approached. He hoped the disappointment he felt wasn't written across his face; whilst he hadn't really expected to be left alone for too long, he had hoped for the brief respite to have lasted longer.
"Hey." The newcomer had his hand shoved into his pockets and his shoulders stooped, almost as if he was trying to hide himself. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
"Ken!" Finn patted the empty seat next to him. "Of course not. Come, sit."
Leo extended his arm, offering his hand. "Nice to meet you. Ken was it? I'm Leo."
"Ken's what the team always called me. Don't really hear it much these days." Leo thought he saw something sad in the smile sent his way. "My real name is Obi."
"That's because you went off the radar," Logan gave a pointed look.
"About that -" Obi swiped Finn's drink, ignoring his disgruntled protest. He drained what was left of it, pulling at an non-existent loose thread on his sweater. "I wanted to say thank you, you know. For having the guts to come out. I know Black and Lupin were first, but that was forced wasn’t it. You made a choice. I know that must have been hard. It was one hell of a ballsy move."
Leo looked between Finn and Logan, expecting them to answer, but neither of them spoke. "We didn't have much of a choice, not if we didn't want to be watching our back every second of every day."
"It was still brave," Obi muttered. "I couldn't have done it."
"Ken, what are you saying?" Logan never did have much patience for others taking their time to get to the point, even though he was a fan of the scenic route himself.
"They gave you a whole Harvard degree and you need to ask that question?" Obi huffed a laugh. "I'm gay. I met Marco, my now husband at the end of senior year, and freaked out. I didn't know how to make these two worlds work, so I didn't. I moved to DC with him, and started a new life. I'm an accountant, he works in marketing. We have four rats, and a Vizsla called Poppy. It's all very domestic. I love it, but I was a coward.”
"You're not a coward. You don't owe that information to anybody, Ken. Not the others, not the media, not the NHL and not us. Not now, not then, not ever.” Finn took a breath, holding up his finger to signal he wasn’t finished. “Besides, it's not as if Lo and I planned this. We went into this with every intention of stuffing this deep, deep into the depths of denial, never for anybody to find out. Including ourselves. And then Nutty came along.”
Obi smiled at Leo, turning his attention back to Finn. "When did you become Gay Yoda?"
"I spend way too much time in our psych's office. Just spreading the wisdom. Heather would be proud."
"Do the others know?" Logan asked.
"Not yet, I think I'd like them to though."
Logan shifted, leaning forward in his seat. "There's no rush, Ken. We've got your back, whatever you decide."
"So, do you have photos?" Leo cocked his head. "We got to show off. Now it's your turn. Even if it's only for us."
"Of Marco?"
"I'm sure he's wonderful, but I was actually talking about Poppy. And the rats," Leo teased.
There were moments when Leo wondered whether they had made the right decision. When he was playing in front of hostile crowds, or fending off stupid media questions, or blocking bigots on twitter. And then there were moments when he knew the decision they had made was 100% perfect. Right now, that was one of those moments.

There’s so much to unpack here!
Willow has little miniature Christmas ornaments in her hair… And she’s wearing stockings! The kind you hang over a fireplace and put stuff inside! I love it because it’s something that would seem very intuitive to someone unfamiliar with Christmas- They’re giant socks, why would you not wear them??? Luz would be 100% supportive because they look GREAT on Willow, and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if she totally agrees- That she’s always wondered why people don’t wear the actual stockings, I can imagine a young Luz wearing them as a kid and Camila having to explain that’s not how it works, and Luz is frustrated because she wants some highly-decorative, poofy stockings to wear; So she’s got that vindication to wear them with Eda, and see Willow validate these ideas by intuitively reaching them on her own! Also… PONYTAIL WILLOW, with golden ring earrings!!! Winter Hexside outfits with winter trimmings!
Speaking of which- We have Gus wearing an ornament as some sort of earring, which to be fair… That ornament looks like a really big version of Eda’s earrings, and she also did the same with those wire hangers back in Adventures in the Elements, which in itself was pretty winter-themed, so! He’s a bit concerned about Mattholomule’s fascination with that coal… Does he know or suspect the connotations behind them? Or does he just have reservations with Mattholomule being there in general? I love the idea of Luz specifically designating the coal as a gift for Mattholomule, knowing nobody will know about the implications- Except MAYBE Gus, who has it dawning on him the little trick that Luz has done! Oh Luz, you’re so mischievous…
(Also, Mattholomule’s increasing cameos in both the show and Dana’s own art, in addition to her self-professed enjoyment of him, makes me think he’ll have a bigger role later down the line.)
You have Emira and Edric all the way in the back… Which, the LAST time we saw them, chronologically speaking and in terms of any content whatsoever, it was the two being dejected over getting stood up at Grom, and for a while I languished over this… So it is VINDICATION, relief to see this most recent sighting replaced by something so wholesome! Emira and Edric, happy, cheered up by their favorite human Luz… Either splitting the hat and sweater, or else wearing it as assigned by Luz, because she knows they’re matching! Let me overanalyze the pairings by saying something about the hat going to Emira because it goes on the head and she’s the ‘brains’ while Edric wears the sweater over his chest because he’s the ‘heart’ of the duo… Not to mention, we have Ed wearing the wreath around his neck like a super-gaudy necklace/scarf, but I think he makes it work! He’s so “Oh!” and surprised but in a pleasant way and Emira’s just enjoying covering up her eyes because the hat is too big or she’s literally just feeling it out for fun.
Love the idea of Luz initiating the introduction of human culture to the Boiling Isles… But with a distinctly Luz flavor to it, because of the way she chooses to interpret and explain it to others; Especially as she’s no doubt self-aware of the power she has and will TOTALLY abuse it to define some human things by what honestly makes way more sense to her, anyway! Not to mention Eda and Gus adding to the chaos with their own interpretations, which Luz either corrects, enables for fun, and/or replaces with her own even more ludicrous and weird explanations. Luz is a trend-setter and she’s going to revel in this power as much as she can, now all of the things everyone thought was weird about her are going to be mainstream in the Boiling Isles! Nobody can stop her!
But, back to the art- We’ve got a Hooty Jack-in-the-Box sort of surprise… Amity must’ve had a heart attack, but the fact that it’s not demolished means she didn’t destroy it on first sight. In fact, she might keep it- Because it’s a gift from Luz… With a note saying it’s from Luz! And Amity must be so flattered and touched and flustered by these gifts, is this normal amongst friends? Probably, Luz sent the gifts to EVERONE, so… She’s wearing the snowman sweater and is utterly puzzled by the hat? She has no idea what to make of it, but she also clearly appreciates the gesture at the same time? Luz didn’t really bother putting in much of an explanation, if at all… Maybe she wanted her friends to form their own conclusions to see what chaos they came up with, before saying “You’re right all along!” Or something mischievous like that. The twins would approve.
Also, if the hat was specifically designated for Amity, then… I’ve seen people point out that it has holly on it, but it can also be misinterpreted as mistletoe- Especially since I’ve heard about the two being confused a lot in media and by mainstream audiences, myself included! I’m just saying, it’s not out of the question for Dana to have intended for that to be mistletoe… And if so, then Luz is saying A LOT by adding it there- Though imagine if it was meant to be just holly, but Amity gets it mixed up with mistletoe… Or Luz realizes it could be misinterpreted as such and freaks out, before realizing her own feelings because she has to actually ask herself- DO I have a crush on Amity or not? But even if I did, it’s not like I’m ready to tell her about it…! If Luz is basically telling Mattholomule that he’s a jerk through the coal and hiding behind the cultural barrier, then… What if she was confessing her crush to Amity in that same sort of way? You never know… Well, I imagine Dana herself does, but you get the idea.
This was a wonderful Christmas gift by the creator herself to the fandom, and it helps to fill the void of no content for this show these past few months, especially with more of the hiatus coming up- We don’t really know how much longer we have left to wait, especially with covid being a thing! I’ve heard some people suggest that we might get a second piece involving Luz, Eda, King, and hopefully Lilith and Hooty and Owlbert… If so, crossing my fingers!

Top 5 Jimin and Tae moments, Top 5 things you want to eat/drink in WDW in June, and I'm stealing yours so Top 5 reasons our friendship is the best
Top 5 Jimin and Tae Moments
1. Literally everything about Malta: It was my first real introduction to them in the video you sent me, and everything I watch from it or learn about it makes me lose my mind a little bit more. It’s just the purest example of what it is to love someone and to let them love you. It’s visiting places you think they might like (and places you want to see with them) and then holding your breath while you show them the night view because you just hope that it can make them smile. It’s supporting them verbally and with very cute hair petting when they’re nervous. But more than anything, it’s just being there with someone and for someone. That’s why my favorite part is always going to be Jimin rocking Tae back and forth and wiping his tears when he was crying. It’s just gentle and soft and reassuring, and that’s who Jimin wants to be for people and who Tae lets him be for him, and it’s why they’re soulmates.
2. “Mikrokosmos” at Wembley Stadium: It’s just the way they live out the lyrics to their part of the song in the moment Tae crouches next to Jimin on the floor. The look on Tae’s face will never stop ruining me because he looks at this person who has so many feelings he has to sit down about it and smiles this fond smile like he’s never seen someone more perfect. And don’t get me started on the intimacy of the hand on the neck or I WILL CRY.
3. Tae’s Letter: How can I not include this? Every part of it is perfect, but what always gets me is Tae apologizing for always being on the receiving end of Jimin’s care and love and thanking him for liking him even though he’s “lacking.” It’s just so pure and so wonderfully selfless (and oblivious), but I love that Jimin sees how vulnerable this is making Tae and reassures him that he never sees their relationship that way—he values Tae and is grateful for all the times he’s been there for him too, and he makes that clear.
4. ALL THE GIFTS: I’ll single out Tae giving Jimin designer clothes because it’s A LOT and Jimin’s dreamcatcher gift and the bears he got Tae for “Winter Bear.” They’re all such genuinely sweet moments, and I love watching their reactions when the other is opening or looking at the gifts because they just want to make each other happy, and when they do, it lights them up too.
5. THEY HAVE A SONG ABOUT THEIR STORY AND ENDED IT WITH “YOU ARE MY SOULMATE.” Anyone who thought that wasn’t making the list does not know me at all. ;) But seriously, they recorded a song about how they want the other to stay after all the cheers and fame end, and I’m just supposed to be ok about that?!
Top 5 Things You Want to Eat/Drink in WDW in June
1. VIOLET LEMONADE 2. The new avocado toast at the Sunshine Griddle booth (because yes, I am predictable) 3. The La Vie en Rose Slushy in France 4. One of the new(ish) Dole Whip floats (either the Peter Pan one or the Moana one) 5. My beloved Watermelon Salad from the Festival Favorites booth
Top 5 Reasons Our Friendship Is the Best
1. It’s So Easy (Because of You). Not only are you the easiest person in the world to love, you make it easy for me to be the kind of friend I want to be without holding anything back. I never feel anxious with you; I never worry about what I’m going to say or do or what I’ve said or done or whether I was too much or too weird or not enough, and that safety allows me to just be exactly who I am, which makes it not just the easiest friendship but also the most authentic one I have ever had because we can just be ourselves and know we’re loved. And that’s all because of the understanding, patience, and genuine support and kindness you bring to it.
2. We’ve Adopted Each Other’s Favorite Places. Of course we’re perfect travel partners in so many ways, but my favorite thing about us as travel partners is that we’ve shared the places closest to our hearts, our happy places and safe spaces, with each other, and the other has fallen in love with them too. We’ve shared these tangible parts of our past, our family memories, and our histories with each other, and the other person has fully embraced those places. Watching you fall in love with WDW was like holding this little piece of my heart out to you and seeing you take it and keep it safe, and I hope my love for Vegas feels like that too.
3. We’re Teaching Each Other. We have the exact strengths the other person needs in order to learn how to let themselves accept love. I am very bad at believing in unconditional love. But you are very good at teaching me through everything you say and do that it exists and that I don’t have to be perfect or do everything right or not be a mess or be less of myself in order to earn love or be worthy of having someone care about me. And I hope that I’m teaching you in my own way to believe that you are incredible and to accept all the love you deserve and to trust that I’m not going anywhere.
4. We’re Always on the Same Wavelength. Whether it’s shared pettiness or the places we want to go or the way we experience fandom (yes, we will both ALWAYS want to read fic for it and will both ALWAYS want to know every single relationship dynamic), we see so much of the world the same way. Which is really cool because our vibes could not be more different from the outside (you are very calm and cool, and I’m...me). I always think about all the similarities in our preteen and teen lives, and I just want to go back in time and tell bb!Katie that she’s going to find a friend someday who gets it and who is wearing the same t-shirts and listening to the same boy bands and reads fan fiction; she’s just currently on the other side of the country and neither of you are old enough to make internet friends yet. But once you are, look out, world.
5. We Have the Same Love Language—and It’s Food. From spreadsheets filled with restaurants to sharing our favorite foods with each other when we travel to sending each other food when we need comfort, it’s how both of us say I love you. It’s also the driving force behind some pretty perfect memories—from macarons on a balcony in Niagara on the Lake to avocado toast and great French bread and multiple different kinds of perfect potatoes in Vegas to drinks on a rooftop in Chicago (because, yes, cocktails and wine also count as part of our love language). Even though we live so far apart, I always think of sharing food and foodie experiences as something that’s ours and ours alone.

Every Little Thing’s Gonna Be Alright • Chapter 6
Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3 - Chapter 4 - Chapter 5
Evelyn runs a hand through her hair that morning as she walks to the kitchen table, her eyes still half closed.
"Good morning!" a bouncy Ben greets her seated at the kitchen table eating those cereal bars he can't live without.
"Hmm" is all he gets, which makes him chuckle.
"I had a dream that mum brought a couple home to adopt the baby" Ben almost chokes on the bar but doesn't give up laughing at her.
"Sis, you really need a rest from that brain. And speaking of which..."
"What did you do?" Evelyn immediately gets defensive, the grin on Ben's face certainly not allowing her not to worry. "Nothing yet"
"Ben"
"I just thought that maybe, you could get out a bit today. You've been staying in for days. And Deb is really in the mood for some wild shopping"
"Ben" the girl starts, but he interrupts her almost immediately.
"Please. Or I'll have to go myself"
"I'll make sure she knows that, you know"
"Nothing I haven't already told her sweetie" he gives her a wink as she shakes her head in amusement.
"That girl is a saint. Alright, I'll go get dressed"
"Great!" Ben tries not to sound too enthusiastic, cheering internally, finishing his juice and smiling as he sees her heading to the room.
-
"Okay if I don't get out of here right now I'm going to buy the whole shop" Deb stated firmly, putting the little hat away and making Evelyn laugh.
They had been wandering around the huge shop for hours now, they had started in the women's section but the baby section seemed to be more tempting. Deb was actually the one who had wanted to go there, but Evelyn hadn't let her say it twice. Once she'd seen the first onesie, it had been practically impossible to tear themselves away from those shelves.
And her desire to always put some money aside had proved more than worth it in the end. Everything she had was going to her little girl. She'd never been one to spend a lot of money, always spending it on something she really needed. And that day she had been especially happy to shop for her baby, and especially to have someone to do it with.
Once out of the shop, the two girls sit down at a table to freshen up and rest. The bags surrounding them.
"Thanks for all this, I really needed it" Evelyn absentmindedly twists the straw in the juice she had ordered that had recently arrived as Deb smiles at her.
"Anytime. Ben always gets bored and always ends up leaving me alone, so it's good that you came with me"
"Yeah, I know how boring shopping alone can be sometimes" she sighs.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to take your mind off things today"
"Oh no it's fine, really. It's just that you know, sometimes it's just...hard. And I don't want to play the victim because I created this whole situation myself, I knew what I was getting into and I can't even expect everyone to react the same way. But you know, some days are just harder than others"
"Your mother hasn't called yet?"
Evelyn shakes her head, "Dad has though. Twice actually. One was to tell me he's thinking about buying a crib so I can visit them more often"
"Ow cute" Deb comments and a giggle escapes from Evelyn.
"This may sound weird but I can feel I hurt him too, but somehow he found a way to put it all aside and be there for me. As Ben has as well"
"Your mother just needs a little more time Evelyn. Women are always much more thoughtful, but you'll see that everything will work out in the end"
"I hope so. I need her so much for this"
-
Deb tried to waste as much time as possible, but the little girl didn't like the juice her mum had drunk and was so hyperactive that she tired Evelyn out in no time. She hadn't felt like dragging her feet any longer and had even felt a little guilty. So they had headed back to the car quickly and put an end to the day.
"Let's go inside, Ben will deal with the bags later" the girl states as she gets out of the car and helps Evelyn to do the same.
When she opens the front door, the first thing she hears is a loud commotion coming from the living room. Evelyn immediately looks at Deb with a raised eyebrow, who acts as if she has no idea what's going on.
Sitting in front of the television are Ben and three boys, probably playing a football game, and Evelyn immediately understands what the fuss is about. One of them is sitting on the ground with his legs stretched forward and crossed at the ankles, and he's trying to dodge Ben's hand with his head as he's probably losing and trying to annoy his opponent. Or maybe he's having fun like that, who knows.
"So this is why you wanted me out of the house!" she teases him to get her brother's attention, and suddenly four heads turn towards her. No need for introductions, she knows them all at least by name as she has always followed her brother's career.
"Hey Lyn, Deb! How was your day?" the game is immediately paused as Ben steps over everyone and reaches the two to greet them, not before risking to stumble due to the guy onto the floor.
Evelyn giggles, "It was good"
"Come on I'll introduce you to some friends" Ben walks her up a few steps into the room stopping in front of the couch. "This is James, Marc and Jack. Guys this is my sister Evelyn"
The girl smiles politely at the three, "Just for the record, there's no need for introductions by my side. But nice to meet you guys"
"Um I'm going to go to my room for a minute. I'll be right back" Ben nods as he watches her head towards the room, and can't help but smile in satisfaction as he looks at Deb and nods at her unspoken question.
Evelyn absentmindedly opens the door and when she turns on the light, she's speechless. Next to one of the walls stands a crib. She recognised it, it's the one she had bought some time ago but had never had the courage to take out of the box and put together. She had even scolded herself once, thinking that at this rate the baby would be both nameless and without a place to sleep. But there it is, right in front of her.
She brushes her fingers over the surface, her vision fogged by tears not allowing her to enjoy it fully.
"Do you like it?" her brother's voice spins her towards the door, her feet moving swiftly towards him and nearly colliding against his chest as he chuckles lightly, holding her close.
"You did this for me?" she asks still in disbelief as inevitably tears start to roll down her cheeks, leaving small stains on Ben's sweatshirt.
"Of course I did"
"Thanks, I don't deserve it"
"Shut up" Ben leaves a kiss on her head before pulling her slightly away from him to trap her face in his hands.
"I..." she croaks, "I'm too happy Ben"
"Stop crying then, hey" with his thumbs he wipes her wet cheeks, smiling tenderly as she sobs closing her eyes in an attempt to calm herself. And he leaves another kiss on her forehead before turning back, letting her compose herself before doing the same.
During the rest of the evening it's like she's walking on clouds. She has thanked everyone so many times for what they have done, but she cannot put into words what she really feels at that moment. She feels euphoric, excited, scared, grateful. She wants to cry until she has consumed all her tears, but laugh with joy at the same time.
She feels as energetic as a child on a sugar high, but after the climax there is always a drop, and inevitably it hits her. It may be the relaxing atmosphere after dinner, or the tiredness of the day finally visiting her, but her eyes close just ten minutes after the beginning of the film they had chosen to watch. A smile on her face and a relaxed expression, hard to find lately.

I am confused. I am hurt. I don’t know what to think. This is a long post. A very long post that is personal but I’ve had it in my head for a while to write. You don’t have to read this. This post has no real meaning. It’s more of a rant of how I feel in the world of fandom, my experiences, and why this posts exists.
Again, you do not have to read this.
You have been warned.
DO NOT REBLOG THIS POST!!!!
When I became an English major in college, I did so knowing several things. One of those is the fact I love literature and I love discovering why authors, creators, and artists wrote what became their most well known work.
Where am I going?
My first fandom was when I was in Junior High (about 13-14 years old) that I was a part of, meaning I read fan fiction and discovered fan art of, was either Naruto or Pokémon. To me these works were escapes of my real confusing life. Especially when I moved states and schools. I had no one. Through this, I discovered what I liked and didn’t like in the world of fiction and was introduced to fandom words/slang such as shipping, fan fiction, lemons (which I don’t think is used as often now), different types of writing, yaoi, yuri, and a few more I can’t remember. This also included the all important phrase Don’t like don’t read. This was when I was in my early teens.
But I was in a phase where I could find what I found interesting and that was that.
When I got to high school, I was still this awkward quiet kid with no friends. But I did have marching band so that was something.
At this point was was interested in Ouran Highschool Host Club, Death Note, a series called Beauty Pop, Fullmetal Alchemist, and a few others. This was also around the time where I began writing fanfiction for OHSC and even began buying manga. Anyway, this was my introduction to fandom as a teenager. And this is before Tumblr.
All I had were my friends, videos on YouTube, and my own interests. No one really understood why I loved all these things.
Then came the very first fandom I became fully obsessed in my sophomore year: a small series called Hetalia Axis Powers. I was completely invested in this fandom. So much so I wrote fan fiction, bought merch, and read a lot of fan fiction myself. I think it was because, at the time I thought it was because the art style was cute, the voice acting wasn’t half bad and it had to do with history. But this is where things got interesting for me and learning about fandom as a whole.
As a teen, I hadn’t known about AUs and this series had a lot of them. From the usual school AUs to odd ones. I usually stayed in my bubble and kept up the mantra Don’t like Don’t read.
But why talk about it?
Well, let’s just say a lot of the content later on became weird and new. I learned a lot about new terms like de-aging and ABO. But this leads to interest which once again let me know what genres of fan fiction I like.
I continued on with this fandom for about 3 years. And what broke it was the drama and how people were finding a sudden moral compass for personified countries. I mean there are other problems with that show that I recognize now as an adult and didn't see as a kid but that’s for another time. But I quietly left because I was beginning to understand that the drama wasn’t worth a tv show.
I would say the next fandom I was invested in and loved and I think had the least amount of drama was Fairy Tail. Now I fell in love with this series because of the story, characters, and the welcoming fandom. Overall there was rarely any drama because I think we all knew that we had to be civil with each other and respect our ships. While I’m not part of that fandom anymore a lot of people on Tumblr and FFN were very welcoming. The main series kinda fizzled out but that was one of the few positive fandom experiences I had.
I was at that point in my life where I was in college, created my Tumblr and posted regularly to escape life.
Coming off that fandom, I was part of the Yuri on Ice! fandom from beginning to the end. I mean it’s a sports anime that’s about men's figure skating and how it can affect athletes just to get a gist of it.
That’s when my experience with fandom became interesting because these characters were being paired in a way that made me feel like they can’t be paired with anyone else. Like, there was a pairing we were all cheering for to happen by the end.
This is the first series I was highly interested in as an adult where the ages of the characters were defined. There were a few in their teens, some in their early to mid 20s, and a couple in their 30s. Now this was a historic anime for several reasons. The main being there being a gay relationship being shown in a positive light and mental illness being shown in a way that wasn’t patronizing and negative. I loved this show for those reasons. But I also quickly learned how people would take these characters (especially those with huge age differences) and pair them up. That was my first introduction to criticism of how ‘gross’ it would be for a 15 year old to be paired up with an 18 year old. But I saw a problem that made me second guess my thinking. When I was in high school, I knew someone who was a sophomore at 15 and dated someone who was 18. Why was there a problem?
I knew if I voiced this that I would be shamed and told that I was disgusting. Eventually I had enough and left shortly after the series ended.
Then came the Voltron: Legendary Defender series. Oh boy.
Now that series came out while I was in college and I often viewed it in a critical perspective similar to one would a piece of literature because my major was in English and that was what I was taught. Like YOI I was part of this fandom day 1 because it was so different from the original Voltron series from the 80s. I loved how the fandom dissected everything in every episode. There were watch parties, analysis videos, and even skits at conventions. It was a fandom I knew I wanted to be a part of. But then there was fanfiction that I found odd and knew that I never wanted to read that. People were writing about topics that made me uncomfortable and I didn’t know how to deal with it. After a while, I questioned why I was forcing myself to read them in the first place. So, I stopped reading them. This was also around the time where I discovered AO3 and their amazing tagging system. Because if the tagging system was not there, I probably would have stopped reading fanfiction all together.
But then there was drama, shipping wars, morality wars, and I had enough. I was there until it ended and left quietly. Which is sad considering I loved the experience but it was ruined by what people thought was right for fictional characters.
Now you may be asking “What was the point of this post?”
To answer your question, I don’t know.
I have loved reading since I was a kid. And when I got to high school, I had this AP teacher who told us something that has stayed with me to this day.
‘As a reader we are detectives. We want to know why the author wrote this book. We want to know what influenced them.’
I took that saying to heart and approach everything through a critical lens. Which is difficult in a fandom. It’s hard to have a critical approach to a series that everyone takes for a grain of salt.
I have been exposed to a lot of books and pieces of literature that have been considered controversial because of their content. When I left high school, I began to realize what genres of books I like in the YA genre and in literature.
I experimented.
And when you think about it, that’s what you do with fan fiction and fandom. We are always experimenting. We are always finding what we like and don’t like.
But recently I’ve noticed a new fandom term that makes me wonder where I fall in all of this craziness we call fandom.
Pro-Fiction/Pro-Shipper
It wasn’t until last year I saw this word thrown around in a new fandom I am in. I tried to do some research but I couldn't find anything. Nothing. And then I learned it’s a new term in itself.
I won’t go into detail but it reminds of the ‘video games are violent so that makes so-and-so violent’ argument parents made when Mortal Kombat came out.
Well you still didn’t answer the question.
And you’d be right. I saw a post from a follower that saddened me and honestly freaked me out. Why announce that you hate a specific group? It felt like a call out post without saying any names. A warning that states: Block me or out yourself. Or rather: Block me or else.
Do I identify as this? To tell you the truth, I don’t know. I think critically and see things differently. In fact everyone does.
We are always going to be influenced by the media whether it be a movie, television, a book, or a video game. We will always love these storylines and characters. We will always take the messages to heart. We will always cheer for the hero and maybe the villain too.
I do want you guys to remember this, make your own fandom experience. Block those who make you feel uncomfortable and make you feel like you don’t matter. You do.
You are your own person. No one can tell you otherwise. If you feel uncomfortable, then maybe you need to leave the fandom. Or find a space in the fandom that you can be yourself. Or don’t care what people think and do what you always do.
It’s all up to you.
#rant#long post#sorry for those who decided to read this#i just cant stay silent anymore#fandom#fandom toxicity#fandom discourse#fan fiction#personal#i mean#this is getting out of hand#where do i fall in all of this

Sanders Sides Fan Fic: Switched
Chapter 1/?
AN: This chapter follows quite close to the first episode of the show, but as the fic goes on it will go a bit more out on its own
-
Three.
There were three.
Apathy, Pride, Judgment.
Logan, Roman, Patton.
Dark, evil, ‘Dark Sides’.
-
Three.
There were three.
Caution, passion, self preservation.
Virgil, Remus, Janus.
Light, good, ‘Light Sides’.
-
One.
Thomas.
Thomas Sanders.
His role in this was more confusing than the world itself.
-
Sides.
Strange beings with much of them unknown.
All of which wore the same face.
Each with their own color the rainbow.
The one thing that made each unique.
-
Things had been unchanged for decades. Everybody had their roles. Their part to play. Their domain of Thomas’ psyche.
They each had something to do. A job that never changed. Perhaps that’s why several were growing bored of their current lives.

A web series wasn’t exactly Janus’ favorite idea of Thomas. In fact, he heavily disliked the idea of Thomas creating one. Not to mention the fact that the web series was supposed to include the sides in it. Now that, he despised even more. He’d much prefer Thomas to be out pursuing a more traditional path to fame, but what could he do? It’s not like he was the one driving Thomas’ passion.
Virgil wasn’t against the idea by any means, more just the fact that he had to be in it. Being the literal embodiment of caution didn’t exactly help with this by any means. The camera hadn’t even started yet and he already felt like his heart was going to burst out of his ribcage. However, nobody else seemed to notice this since over the years he’d gotten quite good at disguising his fear.
Remus was always excited to do something new, so this was no different. He felt as if there was electricity running through his veins. The kind of excitement mixed with slight anxiety that leaves you feeling drained later but pumped up in the moment.
Thomas had nearly finished the intro, and while there was little script for the sides, they all knew soon would be the time for them all to join in on the conversation.
“I need to have a sit down with myself, figure myself out, and maybe come to a better understanding that we all could learn from. Let’s do this!”
Virgil was the first pop up, oh god why did he have to be first?
“Hey,” Virgil greeted simply as he appeared on screen.
“This is my cautious side,” Thomas began, “My fears, fight or flight, all of that is in his domain. He’s also a constant reminder of my emo phase.”
“Hey-!”
“Hey did you know that one fourth of the bones in your whole body are in your feet?” Remus quickly interrupted as he rose up. Virgil let out a quiet sigh at Remus’ introduction. Could’ve been worse though, so there was that.
Thomas paused for a second before speaking, “This is my passionate side...somehow. Everything that keeps going, and random facts too apparently.”
“Gotta spice things up sometimes, Thomathy,” Remus replied.
“How is a random fact about bones ‘spicing things up’?”
“I’m surprised things aren’t more derailed,” Janus stated as he finally appeared in the room.
“We’re close,” Virgil answered as he eyed Remus. The chaoticness could be annoying, but he didn’t mind it too much usually.
“And finally this is my self preservation,” Thomas started as he went back to his cheerful attitude from before, “Well, not as much in the physical sense, but trying to make sure I get by okay in life…I think,” Thomas attempted to explain.
“He also looks like he stepped right out of Spirit Halloween,” Virgil quietly said under his breath while looking at Janus.
“Says the one who looks like he hasn’t seen a mirror in weeks,” Janus replied.
“Now enough of that, you two can fight when we’re not recording,” Thomas quickly added, breaking off the short argument.
“So what are we doing here anyways?” Virgil questioned.
“Well, people know me from all the Vines I make, but I don’t feel like people really know me know me.”
“Well perhaps they would if you posted YouTube videos more often,” Janus replied.
With a slightly annoyed look on his face, Thomas responded, “Okay, all right, that’s fair,” Thomas quickly started, “But I don’t know if I know me! There’s some things even I need to figure out about my own identity. Like, okay, relationships.”
“A one way ticket to-,” Remus began.
“Let’s not go through that door,” Janus cut in.
“Just gotta find somebody that will accept you for your flaws, I guess,” Virgil adds.
“Everybody does have their own flaws, and you could say that love is about accepting those,” Janus tried to explain.
“Yes, that is definitely important. Flaws and all. Speaking of which-.”
“Are we bringing up flaws now? ‘Cause you have more than -” Remus quickly began.
“Passion, sto-,” Virgil started before being interrupted.
“I believe this would be of interesting conversation,” Janus once again cut in.
“You’re so fucking boring!” Remus said to Thomas.
“You’re often too selfless,” Janus added in.
“You keep changing your path in life, like all the time, way too often,” Virgil finally gets out.
“Maybe this was a bad idea,” Thomas quickly said after.
“Well, remember everybody does have flaws,” Janus reassured.
“You’ve got good parts about you too, like uh, like you’re alive,” Virgil replied since he couldn’t think of a compliment.
“You aren’t a murderer,” Remus started, “Yet!”
“Excellent compliments, guys,” Janus remarked as he rolled his eyes, “You try your best to get your work done and it shows. There, not that hard.”
“Well, thanks I guess, guys,” Thomas responded.
“It’s hard to think of stuff on the spot, okay?” Virgil attempted to reassure him as he messed with the strings of his hoodie.
“Okay then, what else do I need to figure out?”
“Biggest fear?” Virgil quickly replied without thinking.
“Being boring!” Remus quickly answered.
“What happens after death,” Janus followed.
“What if you were stuck in a state of limbo for the rest of your life-,” Virgil began to reply to his own question as his eyeshadow slightly darkened.
“No, no, we are not talking about fears! I am well aware of those! I am talking about what I need to figure out about myself,” Thomas anxiously interjected.
“Would you eat a clone of yourself if you had no other source of food?” Remus spontaneously questioned.
“Not...not those kinds of questions, Remus,” Thomas replied with a sigh.
“What kind of an impact do you wish to leave on the world?” Janus added, replacing Remus’ question with his own.
With that began the end of the video and Thomas’ speech to the viewer. Virgil felt less anxious than he thought he’d be, Remus felt, well, like Remus, and Janus felt a bit drained but other than that quite good. One by one, they sank out. Virgil, however, couldn’t stop a thought from rattling around the back of his head. What if this series provoked the dark sides?

Jin Norizuki’s Birthday PriZoom 7/18/2021
Oh the things I do for Jin Norizuki
That was SUCH an experience. I had a lot of fun!!
Main takeaway is that I am now acutely aware of when to YO in a song
(Okay so this is my first time attending a prizoom (or even any kinpri screening outside of Luna’s sss rabbit sessions!) so this is all entirely new to me and I can’t really compare it to much, but I figured that it’d be good to write up a report of sorts to fill in for Luna in a way!)
The prizooms are also accessible to everyone and don’t require any Japanese info confirmation!! If you’re interested in attending please go and support kinpri!!!
(Note: I think about Jin wayyyy too much and interpret them as nonbinary, so I use they/them pronouns for Jin. It’s just automatic for me at this point and feels weird otherwise haha so I’ll be doing that in this)
Jin is my all time favorite character and love of my life who I’m extremely delusional about so when a prizoom was announced for their birthday I went INSANE because I didn’t expect Jin’s birthday to be acknowledged AT ALL given how they’re usually excluded/treated like a side character (+ kinpri’s been putting out little to no content lately anyways....haha....). I was waiting in anticipation ever since it was announced (around June 6th) and even put in a time-off request for my work the day of its announcement just so I could attend!!!! ........ You can imagine my frustration at kinpri waiting until the very last minute to put out details about Jin’s prizoom ^^;
💙 💙 💙 💙 💙 💙
Also!! I’m a complete ~ foreigner ~ and managed to get tickets perfectly fine with my American credit card (and putting in some very obviously Not-An-Actual-Resident-Of-Japan address info...)! So if anyone’s curious about attending a prizoom but worried about region-locking, it’s possible! Very possible! If you’re interested in it, please go! You don’t need to have a Japanese phone number/credit card/address/etc. to purchase PriZoom tickets on RakutenTicket! It’s such an experience! If you need any help buying tickets then I’d be more than happy to assist!! Please support the PriZoom screenings and help increase the demand for more kinpri content!!!!!!!!!!!! I will personally become a living prizoom advertisement
(Also if any kinpri staff find this: I’m sorry for not respecting rules this time but I just wanted to provide a detailed account of the prizoom event and encourage participation for other foreign fans! I won’t do this again!!!)
💙 💙 💙 💙 💙 💙
I only attended the first and third showings (consisting of the first movie and Over the Sunshine!) because I wanted to see the new/not currently archived content (the second/pride the hero showing’s bonus was just Jin’s birthday video by Joji which I already revisit little too much ahaha). I also went to the chat-only rooms because I wasn’t very confident that I wouldn’t be awkward with my nonexistent cheering experience and intent to just observe what its like (despite knowing that the cheering rooms are more fun based on what Luna said haha). That, and I was planning on using the EXTREMELY OBNOXIOUS soundboard of ABSOLUTE CHAOS for everything since I have issues with voice dysphoria and figured it’d be good to stick to the room with that normalized as the one and only cheering method so participating would be a little less annoying to others, since we’d all have the same idea ^^;
I’m more active on twitter and follow/am mutuals with pretty much anybody who likes Jin enough to post about them, so it was cool seeing almost everyone there! At least half of them tweeted about this being their first prizoom haha. Jin’s birthday was also promoted as a good introduction to prizooms since the first showing was set at a price point of 718 yen instead of the usual 1,760 yen? So, lots of first timers attending! I guess most people had the same thought process as me about the whole insecure-about-not-being-used-to-proper-cheering/using-their-mic thing? Because most of my twitter following ended up in the chat-only rooms with me! Fun!
Also interesting how most people chose the male voice option for the cheering soundboard feature since there’s actually only 2 men who love Jin like that (I’m included in that number!!) in the Jin-obsessed twitter circle. I guess it was because it sounds kinda Joji-ish? and therefore fitting for an event dedicated to Jin! What with them being meant for each other and all.... Plus being Joji is just a fun way to play off having issues about using your own voice (I... project onto Joji a lot.)
👆 👆 👆
Okay I actually typed up all of the above during the second showing (since I wasn’t occupied attending that one) and everyone had the same train of thought and was definitely being Joji. You know that one “song” in Over the Sunshine- Glorious Schwarz- consisting of Joji just going wild infodumping for 3.5 minutes? Yeah EVERYONE who selected the male voice option was spamming 「おれもー!」/ “ME TOO!!!” during that (including me!). So it was like:
“I weighed 4646 grams at birth! ☆”
“MMMMEMEEMEMMT MEE ME MEEE EMME ME ME TOO M M ME TOO”
SO OBNOXIOUS. I LOVE IT. EVERYONE SHARING THE SAME BRAINCELL. THE JOJI BRAINCELL.
💙
The highlight of the prizoom (in my opinion) was when some guy repeatedly hit よっ!/ YO! to the music in the first movie, which then led to everyone having a collective ~ Realization ~
After that happened, everybody joined in and started YO!-ing along in the other lives. Beautiful.
(Blurred recording of Dramatic Love and Showcase Night just so YO!u can see what I mean.)
(I only did those two to test screen recording after failing to archive the first Jin bonus while using the soundboard feature in the first showing, initially I didn’t intend to record anything but the bonuses and will not be doing that anymore. If you attend, don’t be like me or worse!!!! Please!! I’ll delete these if needed/after a few weeks. Also just wanted to mention that Koi no Royal Straight Flush is up there in Kinpri’s Most YO!-able songs)
I love this soundboard feature. Sounds like hell. Prizooms are truely a new form of art because of it. Amazing how cheering screenings have evolved over a pandemic. Music feels empty to me without the YO!s now. After this I ended up listening to the entire kinpri discography so I could determine the YO!ability of each song. Not sure if every prizoom is like that? But I really want to go to more showings just for the community experience! I’m morbidly curious as to how many people would try to YO! to Platonic Sword. I considered going to Rei’s because they’re showing Shiny Rose Stars, but I probably won’t though since money and sleep are things (They really should make tickets no more than 1,000 yen.... they’re zoom meetings with audio problems....THE AUDIO ISSUES ARE FUN THOUGH! YOU CAN SPAM “GANBATTE” WITH EVERYONE!!) Plus while I do like every kinpri character, none of the street boys are really my favorites and going to every showing regardless of character would be a lot. I assumed that I was only going to try attending Joji’s until they announced that they were gonna do something for Jin!! So if you want to see what it’s like PLEASE get tickets and experience it for yourself!! It’s so much more fun participating !!!! Relying on 1-2 people to post event summaries isn’t exactly consistent coverage of every prizoom either!
\ よっ!/ \ よっ!/ \ よっ!/
So much of this is a community experience that you just have to see for yourself! It’s really cool seeing people go all out for their favorites and just going wild. Notable participants include:
- Two separate people just working out the entire time (one of them doing “Prism Exercise” meaning very high effort full-body cheering and dancing? It was really impressive seeing them go all-out for such a long time!)
- Two (2!) Ai cosplayers!!! One attending the prizoom with a Jin cosplayer!!
- The lady who cosplayed Jin in their cute green pre-retirement prism star outfit WITH A HUGE JIN PUPPET IN THE SAME STYLE AS THE SHUFFLE PUPPETS IN THE STAGEPLAY!!!
- That one person who just had a Minato fish head on the entire time (?!)
- A Victoria cosplayer who showed off a really nice!! drawing of Jin they did during the participant showcase at the end of the screenings
- The person with a REALLY CUTE!!!!! homemade Jin plushie!!
- Two people who attended with 3D/vtuber style models of the Go Go Glorious! (YMT29 subunit) members: Noel Tokyo and Mikado Shibuya (who also had a model of Ai!)
- A really cute Joji vtuber model!
💙 💙 💙 💙 💙 💙
The bonuses were Jin’s birthday video from 2016 and a birthday message of sorts from Jin!
I actually didn’t manage to properly archive the first one as intended because things went horribly wrong so I ended up with nothing but just a terrible (said affectionately) little recording of the soundboard I linked earlier. But whatever I shouldn’t be doing that anyways. Hopefully kinpri includes that and the other prizoom bonuses in something later.... the thought of any content being stuck as lost media terrifies me. I don’t have a good enough memory or a high enough Japanese proficiency level to type it out but it wasn’t particularly analyzable or anything (telling that to myself to make me feel better about losing it). Just the usual Jin being dramatic and going on an evil monologue. Jin being evil ASMR. I lovingly burned another one of Jin’s evil laughs into my mind too so there’s that.
For the 3rd showing bonus however I did not fail though it’s arguably the less interesting bonus of the two since it’s unvoiced. I really love Jin’s voice. Big sexy. Actual dialogue is pretty similar to each other from what I’ve gathered (ending with one of Jin’s cute little アーーーッハッハッハッ!!!!!’s (the text effect for the unvoiced bonus was an appreciated detail!).
(I’m not very confident in my ability to provide a good translation so I’ll just not embarrass myself)
“ AAAaAAaHAHAAHAAa ~ ! ! ! ! ! ! ! “
💙
Yes Jin I’ll support you in the future-!!! ヾ(>▽ <、 )
I’ll never not be obsessed but it’d still be nice to have more substantial content to gush about and do that with.... Kinpri come back and release an anime continuation.... give me the Jin plot development....kinpri come back my happiness is a little too reliant on you
After the showings you get an email asking for feedback which is cool! I’ve been waiting to complain about how 法月 is written as Noriduki instead of Norizuki for the longest time but I never had a chance until now haha. Makes it so painful for me to buy Jin merch. Also begged for an anime continuation. I wonder how much they take into account feedback? I guess I’ll see when/if they start writing Jin’s name how it’s supposed to be.
ANYWAYS
IF YOU WANT TO GO TO A PRIZOOM, DO IT!
Prism shows really are best experienced with a community!!! If you like kinpri it’s a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to experience what a cheering screening is like with the Japanese fanbase from the comfort of your very own home which is most likely nowhere near Japan!! Everyone should experience prism shows!!!! I have no regrets and I’m still so hyped from the prism sparkle!!!
ANYBODY CAN ATTEND AND BUY TICKETS EVEN WITHOUT JAPANESE INFORMATION!!!
\\ GLORIOUS SCHWARZ! //
#king of prism#jin norizuki#Err try not to spread around my recordings too much#Dont want the staff thinking badly of foreigners and region locking things haha#Kinpri_pr didn't even blur out their recording of the prizooms like me and they record everything for promo purposes anyways#But I'll probably remove mine after a bit anyways#me and my very concerning crush on jin#using joji as a self insert

The Vast & Starlit Special: Part One - The Scandals of Atticus Ashfield TRANSCRIPT
[You can listen to the show wherever you get your podcasts, or go to our “Listen” page if you’re on desktop.]
VAL
Hey, Val here. Just wanted to do a quick little introduction for our three-part Vast & Starlit special. This is going to be our last little bit of bonus content before season two officially begins on August 13th. We talk about this in the episode, but if you would like to find more information about the game we’re playing, you can find a link in the episode description. Thank you so much for all of the support, and enjoy our Vast & Starlit special!
[MUSIC PLAYS FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE SLOWLY FADING OUT.]
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] Well, that went well. It’ll be fine.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] All is well.
LUKA
Everything is okay.
JESSE
[OVERLAPPING, IN A BRITISH ACCENT] Alright.
LUKA
Alright, so I guess, let’s get into it!
VAL
Cheers!
LUKA
Should we introduce ourselves?
JESSE
I feel like we should.
VAL
I think that’s probably good.
LUKA
It’s weird to like, talk, and be like, “Oh, hey besties.”
JESSE
“Hey.”
[LOTS OF UNCLEAR, OVERLAPPING CHATTER AND STUTTERING FOR A MOMENT.]
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] “Greetings, besties.”
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Uh, a lot of times, what I do think is funny is we’ll, like, do bonus content, and then say spoilers, and Val will just beep it out in recording. So I was going to introduce myself and the character I play, and I do think you guys can still do that.
LAUREN
Okay.
VAL
Yeah, and then I’ll just censor it out. It’ll be like, “Hi, I play—”
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] Because it’s a funny joke to me.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Val, if you—I don’t know if you want to start.
VAL
Um, yeah, I can start. My name is Val, I’m the writer and producer of The Heart of Ether. I also voice Rosemary Quinn. What else are we saying about ourselves? Is this just—do we wanna throw in a fun fact—?
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] Um, I would just—sure, if you want.
VAL
[LAUGHING] Oh, I don’t have any fun facts, so.
Everything I own is mushroom-themed. Because, according to my parents, that’s my only interest.
LUKA
They’re not wrong.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Um, hello! I am Luka Miller. I play Irene Gray. I did not prepare a fun fact, but I guess I will say that Irene’s Instagram fun fact is a personal attack on me.
[LAUGHTER.]
JES
Oh.
LAUREN
Oh? Okay.
LUKA
I don’t—it wasn’t intentional, but it is. [THEY LAUGH.]
We have two new guests!
[A FEW SECONDS OF EVERYONE INTERMITTENTLY GOING “OOH!” IN INTERESTED TONES, THEN LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Jes, would you like to go first?
JESSE
[STUTTERING] Alright, okay. Uh, well, I’m Jesse Smith. I played Dr. Michaels in season one, and I will be playing [CENSORED BEEP]. And my fun fact, [A BEAT.] I’m currently dressed like a pirate.
VAL
Jes is the only one who dressed up for this. I didn’t—I didn’t know we were dressing up for today.
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER.]
LAUREN
[STUTTERING] I wish—I didn’t commit to the bit. That’s hard.
VAL
It’s okay.
LAUREN
Um, well, I guess that leaves me! Hi, I’m Lauren Tucker. I was not on season one of The Heart of Ether, but I will be playing [CENSORED BEEP] in season two.
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER.]
LAUREN
Big fan of the show, really, that’s [STUTTERING] that’s my fun fact, actually, is that I am the number one Heart of Ether stan. And, I get typecast as [CENSORED BEEP.] And I love it, so.
[LAUGHTER, THEN OVERLAPPING, UNCLEAR TALKING FOR A SECOND.]
LAUREN
You can tell I’ve never done, like, non-scripted for audio before, so this should be interesting.
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] Yeah.
VAL
Very fun.
LUKA
Yeah, this will be very interesting. Very excited.
[IN A BRITISH ACCENT] So, I suppose I will lead us—oh no, it’s coming out.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
I was going to try really hard not to default into, like, the bad British accent.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] The Incident Report, it’s already happening.
[MORE LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Okay, well, I will introduce the game we are playing, I suppose.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] Cheers!
LUKA
So, today we are playing Vast & Starlit by Epidiah Ravachol, I hope that I said that right. Okay, um, basically, we are all escaped convicts, and we’ve stolen this ship.
LAUREN
Oh. Wild.
JESSE
Oh, we stole the ship?
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER AND CHATTER.]
LAUREN
Interesting.
JESSE
I thought this was a prison.
VAL
We were in prison.
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] No no no, we’re runnin’ away from prison!
VAL
Yeah.
LUKA
So we have all done crime.
JESSE
Okay.
LAUREN
Oh, that works perfectly well.
LUKA
Yes. So, this is mostly an improv-based game. We all have made characters. And the other thing is there—[STUTTERING] I am taking on the role of “GM.” That’s not a very strict role.
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
I am here to move the story along. I also have a character. Very excited about it. Um, but I guess we can just kind of get into introducing our characters first, and we have a few questions that we have to ask each other. And then we get to design our ship a little bit. And then we will get going, and we will end up playing out some scenes together until the vibes signal that we are done.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Uh, so I don’t know who wants to introduce their character first.
VAL
Do you wanna go first, Luka? Just to give an example?
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] I can.
VAL
[STUTTERING] ‘Cause you know the most about this game.
LUKA
Also, we can do questions as we introduce our characters, so I guess I can go over that first.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] Okay.
LUKA
And then I can go first, and we can just go with me as an example. So, we have character questions we get to ask each other after we have been introduced. One of them needs to be off of this list. I’m just going to say it, and if you need a reminder, I’ll say it again. But, we have to ask each other at least one of these three: “What are you willing to do to be captain?”, “How would we be better off if you led?”, and “What do we lose by not listening to you?”
However, the other four questions can be anything.
LAUREN
Anything?
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] They are just—yes, anything.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Yes, anything. Anything about your character. And like, I’ll say this: I’ll give you my description, you can be like, “Where’d you get that scar?” And I’ll have to answer you.
LAUREN
Oh, I’m so excited.
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] You get to choose things for me.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
So, I guess I will introduce my character, and we will go through the first round of questions.
So, my character is named Atticus Ashfield. [THEN, QUIETER] We don’t need to get into it. I understand they sound like X-character that is unreleased from Micro-Cosmos. We don’t need to talk about it.
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Um, so, basically, Atticus Ashfield had a nice, nice, comfy radio career. You know, they’re chilling, they’re chilling. But then one day, they got a little too enthusiastic doing this bit about setting off fireworks in a library, and they did get arrested. ‘Cause people were like, “Oh, maybe—this doesn’t sound like someone doing a bit. This sounds like someone who’s planning to set off fireworks in the most treasured library on this planet.” So they were preemptively arrested.
Um, some more fun facts about them. I don’t actually remember what the thought process behind this was, but I’m gonna read it off the document. It says that they are a fish descendant, and they look like Gill from Monster High, but green and without the helmet.
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
I don’t remember writing that, but I do think it’s important.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] Uh-huh?
LUKA
So. Yeah.
VAL
Yeah. Alright, um.
LUKA
I guess we can go in a circle.
[LAUGHTER.]
VAL
Alright, um, what are the mandatory questions again?
LUKA
One of them has to be, “What are you willing to do to be captain?”, “How would we be better off if you led?”, or “What do we lose by not listening to you?”
VAL
Okay, I’ll go—I’ll go first. Um, what do we lose by not listening to you?
LUKA
Oh, should I respond in like, the weird voice I’m gonna do?
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] Yes.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] Yeah.
LUKA
Yeah, why not?
ATTICUS
[WITH AN ENERGETIC SPEAKING VOICE] Well I mean, honestly, probably not a whole lot, but I am charismatic, so you’ll lose a little bit of entertainment.
VAL
[THROUGH LAUGHTER] It sounds like Will Wood.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Thank you. I do my best.
JESSE
[OVERLAPPING] Okay, well, what happened to the orphans?
[LAUGHTER.]
ATTICUS
[IRRITATED] I did a good solid report on those, and no one needs to know what happened afterwards. What I do in my spare time is my business.
[LAUGHTER.]
JESSE
The blank stare.
[MORE LAUGHTER.]
LAUREN
Question, um, okay here we go- how am I supposed to— [SHE LAUGHS.] How am I supposed to follow that up?
Um, look, they just wanna know where the body’s buried. Can you please tell us?
[LAUGHTER.]
LAUREN
The family wants to know.
ATTICUS
[OVERLAPPING] I just—hey, listen. I just told this other person that what I do in my spare time is my business, and they’re orphans! What family?
[LAUGHTER, CRIES?]
LAUREN
Okay!
VAL
We’ve already gotten into murder, and I don’t think that’s the best place to start—
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] We’ve already gotten into—
LUKA
Of course. It happens.
Okay, so that’s three questions. We’re gonna do two more.
VAL
Um, can you explain your whole fashion...thing, you have going on?
ATTICUS
Oh, I call this, um, revival of the 2014 Tumblr era from uh, Terran Society.
[LAUGHTER.]
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] No.
VAL
So true.
ATTICUS
Do you like my shoelaces?
LAUREN & VAL
No.
ATTICUS
Why not?
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] I don’t— [SHE SIGHS.]
ATTICUS
Okay.
LUKA
One more.
[LAUGHTER.]
VAL
Jes, it’s on you.
JESSE
What do you have to say about the kin list scandal?
[LAUGHTER.]
ATTICUS
I don’t like being called an apologist, okay?
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER.]
ATTICUS
[CONT.] But if I see one more person—one more person—say that I— [THEN, IN A HUSHED TONE] That I kin from alpha-beta-omega fics, I’m going to snap.
[LAUGHTER.]
ATTICUS
It was a one-time thing.
[HORRIFIED BEAT OF SILENCE.]
VAL
We’ve set a precedent for the rest of this game, now.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING, STUTTERING] I—there’s so many layers here.
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] So you have—I had, like, a quirky little radio host coming into this, but you have redefined their entire personality, which is exactly what I was hoping would happen.
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Um.
LAUREN
Uh huh. Yeah.
LUKA
Okay, so. That was five, who wants to go next?
VAL
Um, Jes and Lauren, your characters are like connected, right?
LAUREN
Yeah.
LUKA
That’s about to get absolutely destroyed. [LAUGHTER]
VAL
Okay, I’ll go, I’ll go next then and then we can, we can do that in a bit, um. Right, okay. I’m gonna have to come up with a character voice on the spot, I should’ve thought of this in advance, but-
LUKA
Well, apparently mine was just Will Wood, so-
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
Uh huh.
VAL
I mean, radio host, Life in the World to Come, that’s fitting. Um anyways. Uh, my character’s name is Honey Comberbatch. Um-
LUKA
[STRAINED] Say it one more time?
VAL
Honey Comberbatch. It’s like Cumberbatch but it’s comb like honeycomb.
LUKA
Mmhmm.
VAL
Um- and basically to sum it up, um, when her and her wife got divorced, she was very upset about it and she knew her wife was a big advocate of Save the Bees because her wife was like a bee-hybrid-person kind of thing, it’s like- it’s a weird thing. Anyways- her wife was a big advocate of Save the Bees. It got lost in translation to “Legalize Bees.” And Honey- Honey Comberbatch got so enthusiastic about it that A: they were being a public disturbance, but the main thing they got arrested for was they burned down a honey shipment plant. Cause they thought they were freeing the bees from-from their labor, but no, they just- they just burnt down a bunch of trucks.
[LAUGHTER AND A FEW UNINTELLIGIBLE COMMENTS]
LAUREN
I love Bee Movie.
VAL
[LAUGHING] Yep. Yeah that’s basically what it is. Um. Woman gets divorced, um, burns down a honey shipment plant. Now she’s here.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] That’s what happens in Bee Movie last time I checked.
LUKA
Yeah.
[LAUGHTER]
VAL
Exactly.
LUKA
Um… Okay.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] Alright. I think I am gonna have to go with the British accent for this character also cause Comberbatch- and Cumberbatch.
LUKA
Mhmm.
LAUREN
There’s a lot of Tumblr stuff happening um-
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] We have Benedict Cumberbatch-
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] It wasn’t intentional-
VAL
We have um, shoelaces.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
[STRAINED] Shoelaces?
LUKA
I have so many regrets already.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
Certain things that are just unspeakable, um, you know.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] This was a great idea. Alright.
LUKA
Sooo, let’s just start with questions. Is it Jes? I don’t know, we don’t have to go in an order.
JESSE
Sorry my Wifi is so bad so you guys keep cutting out but- oh, okay, um. What would you be willing to do to become captain of the ship?
HONEY
I mean, we already know I’m experienced with fire, don’t we. I mean, I’m willing to do it again.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
I also like that we’ve already set a precedent for two semi-arsonists in the crew. It’s very fun.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
The Daniel Jacobi kinnies: they did not come to play this time.
VAL
I don’t think Honey is a “semi-arsonist,” she burned down a honey shipment.
[OVERLAPPING LAUGHTER]
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] Atticus was going to be an arsonist and then they got arrested. Jacobi’s on Atticuss’s kin list actually. That was the scandal.
LAUREN
Hh… Oh.
VAL
That was the scandal.
LUKA
Okay, but I think Lauren you’re next?
LAUREN
Yeah I was gonna ask why you um threw the priceless wedding ring into the ocean.
LUKA
[IN THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED TERRIBLE BRITISH ACCENT] Someone just finished watching an episode of Hannibal, I see.
[QUIET LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
I was thinking about Titanic and- but okay.
LUKA
Oh.
LAUREN
[THROUGH LAUGHTER] But I know which one you’re talking about.
[MORE LAUGHING]
HONEY
You know, after she left me, you know I was just… I was just so heartbroken, you know? I just- I just did it without thinking. I mean I tried to swim after it, I mean I regretted it of course, but you know. Then I ended up almost drowning and it was a whole thing. You know I’m good with fire, not water.
[BRIEF LAGHTER]
LUKA
Why is your hair that color?
HONEY
Sometimes, you know, interesting things happen when you do a home dye. Sometimes you’re hoping to get sort of, um, sort of a purple-pink ombre and instead you get more of a color that hasn’t been named yet and you think it’s from another planet. You know sometimes you order from a brand you never heard of, um, with no reviews, and sometimes it doesn’t turn out that well.
[LAUGHTER]
JESSE
Alright. Um. Who took the kids.
HONEY
[SADLY] She did.
LAUREN
Ahhhh.
HONEY
Been asking to see them for um, for a couple months now. But she always says they’re busy. Busy with school. Um, if you’re hearing this, please. I’ve been paying child support, I’ve been, just please. Next question.
LAUREN
So-
VAL
This is the last one, right?
LUKA
Yeah.
LAUREN
Mhmm. But the pressure’s on. Uh… I mean you hate to ask, but like the bee to humanoid makeup of the kids… has that been interfering in any way?
[LAUGHTER]
HONEY
I mean… Our- our kids have special needs, special dietary needs. You know, we make do. I mean, it’s pretty common on her home planet, so she knew what to do. Maybe that’s why she got the kids, I don’t know. [DEFENSIVE] I know how to do it too, I was there when they were born. I know how to feed them, just as well. Even if I don't have bee parts.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
Ahh, man.
VAL
Anyways, I’m glad that’s over.
LUKA
[THROUGH LAUGHTER] Okay so which of you wants to go first?
JESSE
Okay I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go. So I’m playing Lord Jensen Jarvis Aloisias Augustine Maximillian Rupert Edmund Cedric von Marius Desmond Constantine Remington III.
LUKA
Okay what was the first name?
JESSE
Lord Jensen Jarvis Aloisias Augustine Maximillian Rupert Edmund Cedric.
[DEAD SILENCE]
LUKA
Jensen.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
Lord. I’ll give you a ‘lord’.
JESSE
Um, and so-
LAUREN
I can’t say the words, I don’t wanna get copyrighted cause I was about to launch into like…
JESSE
Um, so I was a prince at this really big, you know, kingdom, but unfortunately my parents did kick me out, um, because I didn’t take my tea the way they like it, so. Um, they kicked me out and I became a pirate, uh, and you know it was all good you know being a pirate- everyone loves being a pirate- until I tried to uh pickpocket this beautiful woman and she had no money. And so we just kinda, we kept talking and you know one thing led to another and now we’ve been married about twenty-three times. And, um, the reason I’m here is because I want to break so many laws. And the specific reason this time was I was arrested for un-bounce-ifying all of the pickles in Con-nect-icut-26. Um, but the thing is they arrested me while I was doing acrobatics on a bike in Ill-noise-42. So, you know, uh, it is what it is. I try- I try my hardest.
LUKA
Mhmm.
VAL
Alright. So should I start again? Questions?
LUKA
Um, I dunno the order I think Lauren is next. Yes.
LAUREN
I’m just trying to remember what the question was that we haven’t had yet from the list?
LUKA
Uh, we haven’t had: How would we be better off if you led?
LAUREN
So how would we be better off if you led?
JENSEN
Um, well every- everybody wants a sexy captain.
[LAUREN LAUGHING]
JENSEN
You- advertisement. Advertisement. It’s all about advertisement these days. Monetization.
LUKA
Oh, yeah. Okay, um. So I noticed, uh, the way you said an interesting name. Could you pronounce- this is a terrible question but I just need to hear it so I’m gonna say it and I think it will say a lot about you as a person. How do you pronounce the phrase: O-H-I-O?
JENSEN
O-ee-o.
LUKA
Mhmm. Mm. Mhm. Okay. Good. Got it.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] Stick the landing. Uh huh.
VAL
I like to think that like in the galaxy they’re from this is like a big- this is like our version of like “gif or jif.” Like it’s a big thing like everyone says it different.
LUKA
Well I’m thinking about how we’ve been making Cecil Palmer jokes about umm… throughout this recording.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING] Oh yeah.
LUKA
And very specifically, Jes chose to play a character who can’t say Connecticut. Which I think is really funny. Um, but anyways, moving right along.
VAL
What was the reason for your last divorce?
JENSEN
Well, you know, sometimes it- it’s very difficult to find a common ground when your wife can’t get past the fact that you like to drink Cherry Blossom Body Spray. Um, so.
[LAUGHTER AND HORRIFIED GASPS]
JENSEN
Things happen sometimes. It was very hard for both of us.
VAL
Mhmm. I imagine.
LAUREN
[STRAINED] Uh huh. [LAUGHTER] Um, why specifically, uh, Cherry Blossom body spray and have you managed to overcome that since remarrying?
JENSEN
No. Cherry Blossom body spray has a way of coating the throat- the orifices in a way- [LOSING IT SLIGHTLY] like no other. I do also, sometimes, drink Peach body spray and Cucumber perfume. It varies day to day.
LAUREN
Uh huh.
VAL
I see.
LUKA
Okay. [THEY CLEAR THEIR THROAT] Uh, I guess this is the last one. What is your favorite part about your hat?
JENSEN
Well, I really, I really enjoy the raccoons that live underneath it.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
You brought raccoons with you to prison because you stuffed them under your hat? They’ve just been chilling.
JENSEN
I can introduce you to them if you want.
LUKA
Oh, please! Please do.
VAL
[OVERLAPPING]Yes.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] Please.
JENSEN
Alright. Well, um, this. This is an audio medium. This one is called Jeremy, and he really loves bodily fluids. Ah-.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
Oh?
JENSEN
This one- this one is called Vivian and she really enjoys the movie Ratatouille made by Disney and Pixar.
LUKA
That’s an old one.
VAL
So true.
JENSEN
Yeah, and this one, um, is simply called, um, Wet and Wild PhotoFocus Concombre 3-in-1 Base Allure, um, and she-
[LAUGHTER]
JENSEN
She really enjoys, um, uh... reading me little bedtime stories. So those are my raccoons.
VAL
Cheers.
LAUREN
Cheers.
LUKA
[STRAINED] Alright, Lauren?
FRIDAY Alright, so, my name is Friday Jones, uh, and you might have already met my husband, uh, I just call him Jensen, he’s really got this long sort of name that nobody’s got the time to say. But, uh, little bit about me! I grew up on a livestock transport ship, a fairly large sort of thing, and I used to, like, ride the cows from and to end and it was like, just lil’ ol’ me! Bouncing along on the cows! And it was really a lot of fun. And it’s also sorta where I got my proficiency for firearms.
[CHUCKLES]
FRIDAY
So, uh, but you know, got to be a little bit of a nuisance on the ship, I don’t really know what happened, it was probably a mistake, but my family did leave me. On a farm planet. Uh, tender age of nine years old. Um…
VAL Damn.
FRIDAY And then, you know, uh, you gotta do what you gotta do to make money! As far as, uh, guns go, so, uh, you know… turned to maybe some activities that kinda may be a little bit violent. Maybe a little illegal. But, that is how I met- well, sort of, it’s how I… I met my husband, and, like you said, I kinda lost track, I believe it was 22 times we’ve been married? Something like that. And… I made the mistake of trying to break my husband out of prison, and got caught in the process, and then… there was a successful jailbreak, which I am mighty happy about.
LUKA
Mhm.
VAL
Cheers.
LUKA Alright!
[LAUGHTER]
JESSE
Sorry, I realized while you were reading that- that I read the wrong side of the bottle, and that there is an English side.
LUKA
Uh huh!
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
What do we lose by not listening to you?
FRIDAY
Whole lotta expertise with firearms, thats for starters. Um, I know a good thing or two about cows! So, I mean, you’re losing a lot of… cow knowledge.
LUKA
[IN AN EXAGGERATED NEW YORK/BOSTON ACCENT.] Well, we don’t wanna lose any cow knowledge, do we?
VAL
Shut the fuck up.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN Where was I? Cow knowledge? Okay.
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING.] Uh. Cow knowledge.
FRIDAY
And a general sense of security and brain cells, I think.
LUKA
Well that’s a… that’s a quite rude implication, Ms. Jones!
[LAUGHER]
FRIDAY
[OVERLAPPING.] Didn’t say I was nice!
LUKA
[IN A SOUTHERN ACCENT] Oh, okay. I’m turning into the….
LAUREN [OVERLAPPING.] I was like, I know who this is but the listeners do not.
LUKA
[STILL USING ACCENT.] Arthur’s joined the call. Arthur’s joined the call now. Alright.
[LAUGHTER]
VAL How come you never learned how to use a phone?
FRIDAY When you’re on a livestock ship, what do you need a phone for? You got cows! You got cows that you can ride from end to end of the ship! What- what- you need to waste your time, talking to people when you can just talk to cows! And then when you get on a farm planet, well, same thing, you’re talking to corn! You’re not talking to people on the phone! What do you need that for?! What do you need that for? And also they scare me but that’s- I’m not ready to get that vulnerable with y’all, you know?
[LAUGHTER.]
LUKA
Hm.
JESSE [IN A BRITISH ACCENT.] Alright, who’s turn is it?
LUKA
Yours.
JESSE
[IN A SOUTHERN ACCENT.] Um. When were you planning on telling- darling, when were you planning on telling me about the superpowers?
[LAUGHTER.]
FRIDAY
Do you know how hard it is to manage new superpowers when you get to be a woman of my age that’s already established herself as a sort of crime… division, the other side of that? I was gonna tell you as soon as you stopped drinking that Cherry Blossom nonsense! All the time! Just drinking us outta house and home! So maybe you gotta give a little to get a little, Jensen.
JENSEN
Yes, darling.
LUKA
So I know you don’t like Cherry Blossom, but, like, what is your favorite flavor to drink?
FRIDAY
Unfortunately, my friend, I cannot “yes… and” you on that one. Um…
[LAUGHTER.]
FRIDAY
My new friend, uh, because, you know, one thing you gotta know about Friday: there’s a line! And drinking the Cherry Blossom whatever that is not supposed to go in your mouth or oraphaces is beyond that line. So I will not be partaking in that.
LUKA
[MIMICKING FRIDAY.] In that sinful drink.
FRIDAY That’s devil’s brew! I’m convinced!
[LAUGHTER.]
VAL
Alright…
LUKA Not the devil’s brew.
[LAUGHTER.]
VAL
Alright, last question.
LUKA
Yee.
VAL
What happened to the family cat? FRIDAY
I… uh… Wh- when you get left on a farm planet with a cat that has never been on solid ground, and you are nine years old, and also you know, you you got to make a little bit of mon-
You sell the cat. I do regret it, every day, because then I didn’t have any friends.
[LAUGHTER]
FRIDAY (CONT’D)
Um, but… it’s okay. So there was a transaction, probably the last legal one of my entire life, where I sold the cat to a very nice family who needed a milk supply for the winter.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
Don’t you live on a cow farm?
FRIDAY This was after the cow- this was after the cows! This was after- I wish!
LUKA
[OVERLAPPING] Okay. Got it.
FRIDAY
You know, you can milk a cat too, you can milk anything you try hard enough.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
I see! Alright, so, I feel that we are well introduced.
VAL
Uh-huh.
LUKA
So, next questions we answer together.
JESSE
Okay.
LUKA
We gotta bounce ideas off each other, and we’re gonna be designing our ship.
JESSE
[OVERLAPPING] Amazing. LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] Okay.
LUKA
So, number one: how is our vessel unique?
VAL
Hmm. LAUREN
I always think it’s really cool when spaceships have, like, cloaking devices, or stuff, and stuff like that, in sci-fi.
LUKA
I was gonna say it’s transparent.
LAUREN
Ooh! Same brain.
LUKA
Combo that.
LAUREN
Yes.
LUKA
It’s like a glass house. [LAUGHING} You can just see everything that’s inside.
[VARIOUS LAUGHTER AND UNINTELLIGIBLE REACTIONS]
JESSE
Oh, oh my god, Friday, are you Wonder Woman? Is this your invisible jet?
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
[LAUGHS] O- [STUTTERING] Okay. Can I, um-
LUKA
What if- do we- what if we think it has a cloaking device, but it’s just made of transparent material.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING AT THE START] It’s the complete opposite. [STUTTERING] You can see directly into the ship. Um, maybe it’s some sort of, like, um, we think it’s like a two-way mirror scenario, whatever those are called. We think cause we can see out everywhere, and we think that it’s like a mirror on the other side that like reflects the void of space, so we’re completely cloaked- No. It’s just a glass ship.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
[CHANTING] Glass ship! Glass ship!
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING AND CHANTING] Glass ship!
LUKA
Now I really like this next question, I think you’re gonna like it too. How is it quirky or temperamental? VAL
I mean, we were just talking about 2014 Tumblr.
LAUREN
Oh no.
VAL
I do-
JESSE
We stole it from the President.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
Yes.
VAL
I was gonna say, I think that the corners of the ship are in fact sorted based off of 2014 Tumblr fandoms.
LUKA
And that also ties into temperamental.
LAUREN
Yeah.
LUKA
I think.
LAUREN
Oh, yeah, definitely. Um, I do also like it being stolen from the President because I think if we’re gonna go- If we’re gonna get in the wayback machine we might as well just commit to it.
VAL
Yeah.
LUKA
Yeah. Okay, so this next question is basically what’s going to be [IN A SLIGHTLY GERMAN ACCENT] driving ze plot. Not to… I don’t know why I did that.
[LAUGHTER]
JESSE
[IN A BRITISH ACCENT] Felix Couvillion.
LUKA
[IN A GERMAN ACCENT] Felix Couvillion joining ze crew for today.
[THEY RESUME THEIR NATURAL ACCENT] Um-
VAL
Cheers.
LUKA
What does it lack that we need?
LAUREN
Ummm….
VAL
A sense of family.
[LAUREN SIGHS ADORINGLY]
[LAUGHTER]
VAL
You know what this ship needs? It’s some love.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
Okay. Mhm. Okay.
[LAUGHTER]
VAL
Maybe the real ship parts was the friends we made along the way.
LAUREN
[OVERLAPPING] The ship is powered by love. VAL
Yes.
LAUREN
And it’s about to fall out of the sky-
VAL
Yep.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA Okay! Well the note that I had that was gonna drive the plot was that the engine was breaking, but I think that’s a metaphor for these bonds that our characters have, that are just- they’re being torn apart. They’ve gotta fix this family one way or another.
VAL
Yeah, no, the friendship dies, the ship dies.
LUKA
Okay, so, I think that’s pretty solid! So now we have to answer some individual questions on the ship. There’s two, they’re- I’ll ask them to each of you. I can start, if we want. So, first one is: how is the vessel home? Well, I think Atticus, as, um, someone who has built their image in 2014 Tumblr walked onto this skip and was like ‘Ah, finally. This is it.’
[LAUGHTER]
VAL
This is the Tumblr, like, island that people would post about back in the day.
LUKA
Yep.
VAL
This is what it’s like.
LUKA
Um, and the other question is: where do you find sanctuary in it? I think Atticus lives wherever the Superwholock corner is.
VAL
That’s what I was gonna say.
LAUREN I was gonna suggest the ball pit? [LAUGHTER]
LUKA Oh, no, you’re right! Atticus finds sanctuary in the ball pit! LAUREN [OVERLAPPING] I don’t want to like, push in on your thing, but-
LUKA
No, no, no, you’re right. I think the ball pit is like, right next door, to the Superwholock corner.
[VARIOUS UNINTELLIGIBLE REACTIONS]
LUKA (CONT’D) I think maybe the Superwholock corner is the bridge, and then there’s like, the ball pit is like, in the bridge-
JESSE
[OVERLAPPING PROTESTS] The ball pit is the bathroom.
LAUREN
[STRAINED] Do not! [LAUGHTER]
LUKA
Why did you have to do that to me?
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA (CONT’D) When you go in the bridge, Atticus, um, asks you if you have an extra hour in the ball pit.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA (CONT’D) So I guess who wants to go next?
[VARIOUS UNSURE SOUNDS] JESSE
Um, I can go?
LUKA
[IN A BRITISH ACCENT] Alright, alright, alright, Lord Jensen. How is the vessel home?
JENSEN
Well, it’s home to me, because, um, my raccoons are here.
[QUIET LAUGHTER]
LUKA
I think the raccoons like the ball pit, probably. JESSE
Yep.
LUKA
Um, where do you find sanctuary in it?
JENSEN
I really like, um, [STUTTERING] The forbidden section of the ship that has Danganronpa discourse posts. [LAUGHTER]
[VARIOUS REACTIONS OF DISGUST AND DISAPPROVAL]
JENSEN (CONT’D)
Uh, but also I spend a lot of time in the dark academia section as well.
LAUREN
Uh… I…
LUKA
So true.
LAUREN
[STUTTERING] Okay, yeah, uh, uh-huh.
LUKA
Alright, [STUTTERING] Honey or Friday? Who’s next? VAL
Um, I’m trying to remember every Tumblr subculture that exists cause all my brain is giving me is Homestuck and I’m not doing that.
LUKA
Yeah, who’s taking on the Homestuck burden? [LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
I know nothing of this media [STUTTERING], so I probably shouldn’t.
LUKA
[STRAINED] I unfortunately do.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA (CONT’D)
Can we cut that out?
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
[THROUGH LAUGHTER] Can we cut out the admission of guilt in there?
LUKA
[THROUGH LAUGHTER, STUTTERING] So, I guess, uh, Honey, how is the vessel home?
HONEY
You know, after… after the divorce, I was kind of a wanderer, um, you know, I really didn’t have anywhere to go, I was just kind of drifted from planet to planet, and this is the first vessel I’ve been on that really- that really feels like, you know, I could settle down in here, take off my boots, you know, have a nice warm cup of, um, tea, without honey, because you know those bees are overworked as shit.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
The bees need to unionize.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
[THROUGH LAUGHTER] Where do you find sanctuary in it?
VAL
So… so I do think Honey finds sanctuary, in the, um, in the- [STUTTERING] I did the first half in character, I could probably do the second half.
HONEY
You know, um, I actually quite like the, um, the Welcome to Night Vale, um, little- little like, communications room. Just because, you know, they have all- I like, I like all the characters, um… [PURPOSEFULLY MISPRONOUNCED WITH A HARD C] C-Ceecil? And- and Carlos and I just think of what could have been, you know?
[ASSORTED MHMMS FROM THE OTHERS]
LUKA
Okay.
[LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
Cheers.
LUKA
Um, Friday. How is the vessel home?
FRIDAY
Well, um, vessel’s a lot homier than being an orphan on a planet ya don’t know. Um, and I like it because it’s about as big as- it’s home because it’s about as big as the one that I spent the beginning of my life on, so I can like close my eyes and kinda imagine that maybe there’s some cows or something like that.
LUKA
Mhmm. Where do you find sanctuary in it?
LAUREN
Um, that would be uh, the gun range.
[LAUGHTER]
VAL
[THROUGH LAUGHTER] And that’s the Homestuck one.
[LAUGHTER]
LUKA
I don’t know why we said the ball pit was the bathroom when Homestuck Sharpie Bath was right there.
[MORE LAUGHTER]
LAUREN
There is… guys…
LUKA
Okay, well.
LAUREN
That was great, I have to be going now.
[EVEN MORE LAUGHTER]
LUKA
Okay, well. We are done with our questions.
VAL
Are we starting the game now?
LUKA
We are starting the game now.
VAL
Alright.
LAUREN
[WHISPERED] Alright.
VAL
Tune in next for part two, which, unfortunately, has more Tumblr jokes.
[OUTRO MUSIC AND CREDITS PLAY.]

I can’t sleep so I’m just thinkin’ about my range of Pokémon romantic F/Os. This series has meant so much to me for so long, and I know F/Os from that source make up a decent portion of my list. I’d feel more embarrassed about it if I didn’t make it abundantly clear that Pokémon is one of the most pervasive influences in my life from an exceedingly young age.
I just. I dunno. I find my collection of Pokémon series F/Os so interesting.
I’m just gonna ramble a bit.
I’m going to talk in Generational order, because my 1am brain couldn’t decipher a more cohesive timeline if it tried.
Giovanni is a funny one. As a kid, his character in the show intimidated me a little. But I really loved Team Rocket on some level. They were my first Pokémon villain organization, and with the Gen III games having Aqua and Magma, I decided pretty early that Team Rocket was my team. I had a stint in Magma since when I was young, I thought I’d specialize in Fire types, but eh it didn’t stick. No team really stuck nearly as much until Team Skull! So I had a lot of time for my intimidation from Giovanni to evolve into a fearful respect, to a mild devotion… by the time I played Let’s Go! and Ultra Moon, I was more than a little excited to see him in game. As in, I would quietly cheer when he appeared on my screen, in some weird giddy manner. It was only a matter of time before I realized I was crushing hard.
Steven Stone (he has a full name so more often than not I use it when referring to him) probably didn’t make the biggest impact on me in the original Gen III games? Hoenn was my favorite region for a while (in part due to pre- “Hoenn confirmed” hype), but he didn’t have a huge role in Ruby/Sapphire. Maybe I noticed him first in Emerald? I wish I could remember my real first inkling of crush on him, because I just remember when I played Omega Ruby… I was already obsessed with him. He showed up for the first time in game and I squealed. I spent the whole game seeking him out and already making romantic passes at him in my around-19-year-old head.
I am counting Grovyle for this, but it bears repeating that my S/I for the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games is a Pokémon too. Those Mystery Dungeon games enamored me as a teen! I got to BE! A POKEMON!! So I probably got Explorers of Time/Darkness for DS not long after it released in 2008. I was so excited to have Gen IV Pokémon to be and battle and recruit, ugh, this game meant so much to me. I will always remember being part of Wigglytuff’s Guild super fondly. And like, as I am super susceptible to mental role play, putting myself in my characters shoes (or lil toe beans I guess) has always been second nature for me. So a dashing Grovyle just jumped into my silly life and was the most honorable and misunderstood character and I am not even joking when I say I fell for him in my first playthrough. And I’ve played through it a lot. I was always jealous of Celebi. I hate every Dusknoir I see to this day. *chefs kiss* Good game.
Gen V is “oops all F/Os” Gen, where to even start..
Just kidding, N is the obvious choice to start for me. He was love at first sight. He just, ugh, he cares about Pokémon SO MUCH. I literally don’t know how to even expand on this. He literally rode the Ferris Wheel with the player character in the game, and I WASNT supposed to interpret that as a date? Wack. It was a date. I love him so damn much. Next question
Elesa comes next because I’ve always thought she was stunning. I mean, duh I guess, she’s canonically a model. Also, Electric types are in my top 3, behind Fairy and somewhat tied with Fire, so she was a woman after my own heart. Her Emolga kinda wrecked my team and I respect that. Also, she loves puns. So again. Woman after my own heart. The only reason she’s still listed as Crush and not as Dating is because she intimidates me. She’s out of my league and I worry she’d only see me as a friend. Well, not “only”, her and Skyla are bffs and that also looks fun. I just. Can’t imagine her romantically being interested in me sometimes. Heh.
Grimsley was a crush that came on yeeeaaaars after his Gen, and it hit me like a freight train. I swear, he made very little impression on me in B/W, because I was young and I was just excited to possibly see N again as champion. I was a little shit, okay. I also never played B2/W2 all the way through, which is a huge stain on my Pokémon record. Anyways. When he showed up in Sun/Moon, I gasped. I was like, that’s a familiar face. Why is he hot now? (The answer is we was always hot, and I just had a few years to grow between games). But like, I kind of tamped it back down? I think I legit tried to tell myself around Sun/Moon era that I can’t keep finding Pokémon characters hot, because I was drooling over another one in Moon. Anywho. Grimsley kept popping up as fanart on my Tumblr dash for a while and by the time I pulled him in Pokémon Masters, I slipped into love. Whoops.
Professor Sycamore, probably not my proudest moment of fandom. He was another one I liked from the very introduction. I made fun of him in equal measure, but I affectionately referred to him as “Professor Hotdad” for an embarrassingly long amount of time. He’s not even the oldest of my Pokémon F/Os. One of my other Pokémon F/Os is canonically a father. But nope. Sycamore was Hotdad. That all said, he did make me smile like a crush-stricken schoolgirl when he talked in game so it wasn’t all just memey objectification. I do love him dearly.
Gen VII! Alola! Guzma! Oh man, like I’d stated earlier, Team Skull really nestled it’s way close to my heart the way no team had since Team Rocket. It wasn’t all because of Guzma, I really did like the group of ragtag misfits banding together and creating a family. Guzma was icing on the cake. Oh boy, he made my heart do funny little flips even when he was threatening me in game. I loved his design, I loved his character, the way he talked, I just. Ugh, I was down bad for ya boy in Moon and Ultra Moon. He’s actually the inspiration behind my main blog url: its-ya-boi-remington. The “Y’all are stupid!” line and face lives in my head rent free at all times. Guzma protection squad.
(Nanu isn’t a romantic so I won’t talk about him here, just know I’m not forgetting him!)
Leon was, believe it or not, my actual first Gen VIII crush. I saw that fashion disaster and felt a warm comfort from him. It didn’t help that I mentally read every character in Galar with some UK/British Isles accent, that sweetened the deal. I was actually gushing to a couple then-friends about Leon while we all played Sword/Shield together and they kind of mocked me about it. They chided me that Leon “doesn’t bat for my team” and said either of them would have a better chance with him if he were real. So I was a little downtrodden about Leon after that for quite a while. It wasn’t until a couple months ago when suddenly it hit me that A- He’s literally fictional and my version of him can like me regardless of what “team he bats for” and B- I’m nonbinary? So rules get thrown out the window, anyone who likes me is both a miracle and some kind of gay whatever way you spin it. So I let myself warm back up to him, though I’m still a little skittish from before.
Piers, I guess, as awful as it sounds, was initially a crush rebound. Like, don’t get me wrong, I’d have been attracted either way. He’s a musician, a SINGER no less, and has that emo/punk vibe. But he’s also gentle and kind. Swoon. But it helped that I had my crush-feelers out full-force for a cutie in game to obsess over since I was still butthurt about my “friends” killing my crush on Leon. Obsess I did, and continue to do. I could probably snap this man over my knee like firewood he’s so lanky, idk why I put that in here but it’s staying. Piers is the one I most imagine jamming out with on a regular basis, and it makes performing for no one a bit more fun 🥰
I’m finally getting tired, I feel like I’ve been typing this for an hour. I probably have been. Ah geez now I gotta tag all these F/Os lmao. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Can you explain why you ship Clemsim because i’m genuinely curious ❤️❤️
I can try my best, but I’m not sure I really know myself as to what started it - I really latched on back when we only had one episode and I haven’t been able to let go.
For starters, I’ve said this a lot before, but I did think there would be more than 2 options for Clem in terms of romances in TFS (I didn’t look into any of the promotional stuff aside from the initial trailer) - originally I thought Brody and Aasim were also going to be options (and maybe also Marlon, but it seemed weird in my head for there to be an odd number of choices). Obviously, the end of episode one made it quite clear that the Brody and Marlon options were off the table - but stupid hopeful me didn’t get over the tiny thread of maybe Aasim? Maybe?
In episode one I just felt like Aasim and Clem would get along well together. And truthfully, the introduction to Louis was very sweet but I find such a rambunctious, overly-familiar initial greeting sort of deterring, then Violet’s introduction was a little standoff-ish which also deterred me. In terms of potential romances, both introductions put my guard up a little since I didn’t have anything else to go on except for those two extremes.
(I’m only talking out of personal preference here on the first impressions, no hate, and we learn much more about these two after their introductions that I think is more than redeeming of my initial hesitance).
Then my first impression of Aasim was:
Oooh archer. He has thought about the sustainability of the school, smart boy. Oof, he took that shoulder-check well and he’s not escalating, that’s a good sign for his temperament. Ooooh he’s talking to me about learning from the past and not repeating mistakes. He wants to talk his plans out with Marlon instead of just enacting them, that’s nice, that means he’s not going to do something rash without letting people know what he’s thinking. He’s a little reserved and socially off, but I get that, it makes sense in this environment when meeting someone new.
Aasim was like the middle-ground between the other introductions - I felt more like I was meeting him on neutral ground. And from there I just started thinking about if Clem and AJ had only one ally to have their backs through this adventure, then I wanted that person to be someone like Aasim. Someone who thinks first and who makes decisions based on past experiences - so someone who learns and makes an effort to do better. I dunno, he felt real to me and I was interested in getting to know him more.
Then I went hunting with him, and that pushed me even further in to that corner. Because it showed that he prioritises the well being of the group as a whole, and understands the importance of doing something now to make things better later - all stuff that I think is super important in the apocalypse. Then there is that element of trust in Clem’s abilities on nothing more than saying “yes, I want to help” - that means a lot to me.
He just generally came across as someone who would be a great friend to have at your side in a tough situation, and someone who you could work with to make things better for everyone. And if things developed into something romantic from there then I would be thrilled to bits. I’m all for a slow-burn, and that’s what I think you would get from a Clemsim pairing.
...
Then episode two came around to rain on my parade. But still... the more I learned about Aasim in the following episodes, the more I was upset that he wasn’t an option.
I’m not begrudging the Rusim thing, just because I was playing Clem as being interested in Aasim doesn’t mean he has to be interested in return. That’s fine, that’s life. Doesn’t stop me from wanting Clemsim, though.
In my Clemsim-head, that Ruby rejection moment from episode two is where I wanted the diverging point - where Clem can either encourage Aasim to give Ruby some time and see if she comes around (basically playing the wingman) or to tell him he can’t just make Ruby like/love him and then Clem can spend some time with him to cheer him up (and maybe have a similar friendship/date scene) and let things develop from there.
But no, it just seems to be my luck to get attached to characters who are either not able to be romanced, or who will utterly break my heart somewhere in the story.
#twdg#twdg s4#twdg clementine#twdg aasim#twdg clemsim#twdg talk#i just wish there was more fan content out there#because there's very little#and i think most of it is mine#or it's a smut fic#which is not my cup of tea

Catch | Part Two
Pairing: Mart Tuan x Reader
Genre: College!au, slight angst
Warnings and Disclaimer: Alcohol, frat party; y’all please drink responsibly. Also I don’t know how frats and parties on college campuses work b/c the frats at my school are practically nonexistent and we’re a hella dry campus.
Word Count: 2.6K
Summary: Friday had finally rolled around and so did the party. Everything was going great, including with Mark. At least they were at first.
Previous: Intro
The first week of classes went by so quickly. Maybe it was because labs hadn’t started yet, or that I only had to go to two or three classes a day. Regardless, the week flew by and it was already Friday.
Amanda and I sat in chemistry (Who in their right mind thinks it’s a good idea to have college chemistry at 7:40 in the morning on a Friday?) chatting as we waited on Jackson to show up. “Are you going to Alpha Sigma Phi’s party tonight?” Amanda asked suddenly, excitement glimmering in her eyes.
Oh shit. I’d completely forgot that was tonight. “Yeah,” I sighed, “Jackson roped me into when one of his teammates who’s a part of AS Phi invited me.”
“Ooo,” Amanda giggled, “first week and you’ve already caught a frat boy’s attention. Not to mention he’s on the baseball team, too. I love this for you.”
I laughed. “I don’t know,” I said, shaking my head. “I’ve only talked to him once and I got this kind of weird feeling after.”
Amanda cocked her head in confusion. “Good or bad?”
I didn’t get to answer. I was cut off by Jackson’s cheerful voice. “Ladies, I come bearing a new friend!” Amanda and I looked at Jackson and his said friend.
Speak of the devil.
Mark smiled and waved at me.“(y/n), you already know him. Amanda, this is Mark,” Jackson said motioning to the the brunette boy. “Mark, Amanda.” Once introductions were over, Jackson and Mark squeezed passed Amanda and I, slipping into the seats next to me.
“That’s him,” I mouthed to Amanda.
Amanda’s eyes widened, as she tried to hold back an excited grin. She looked back and forth between Mark and I before nodding her head vigorously. I rolled my eyes, heat rising in my cheeks. Jackson eyed the two of us as all of this happened. “What are you two not talking about and why am I not included?” he whined.
Amanda and I laughed. “Nothing,” I said. Jackson pouted, shooting me puppy dog eyes. Dammit. “I’ll tell you later, okay?” Jackson sat back in his seat, a satisfied smile on his face.
“Good morning class.” Like an angel sent from heave, our professor began class.
I don’t know what compelled me to do it, but I peeked over at Mark. My eyes met his brown ones. He smiled at me and winked. I felt my cheeks heat up and I quickly looked away, trying to suppress the my smile.
* * *
The day passed by fast and before I knew it, I was in my dorm chatting with my roommate and getting ready for the night. Thoughts of Mark continued to occupy my mind throughout the rest of classes. The glances and captivating smiles continued the entire chemistry class, leaving me with a smile on my face and a swirly feeling in my stomach. I hadn’t felt like this since sophomore year of high school. It felt good.
“Wait, how long have you known him?” my roommate, Allie, asked. I was confiding in her about my Mark Tuan predicament. Despite knowing her for only about a week, we’d become as close.
I hesitated, not daring to meet her gaze, and instead choosing to keep looking in the mirror as I clasped my necklace. “I met him Monday,” I said. Allie raised and eyebrow as me. I sighed, “I know, I know. I haven’t talked to him a whole lot either. I’m just as confused as you are.”
Allie leaned her back on her bed, and shrugged. “I don’t really know, (y/n). I mean it sounds like it’s just a surface level crush. I mean, it’s normal to be attracted to people based off of looks alone. Just be careful. Frat boys tend to be nothing but trouble,” she said, rolling her eyes at the lost part.
“Don’t remind me,” I groaned.
I looked in the mirror one last time. At least I felt cute. My hair and make-up were done. Nothing glamorous, just enough to feel good. I’d put on my favorite black shorts, and a cropped grey tank top that showed a peek of stomach, but not so much that I was going to feel self conscious.
There was a knock at the door. “Come in!” Allie and I called in unison. Jackson walked in, a bright smile on his face and looking as stylish as ever. He said hi to Allie before looking at me. He gasped. “You look so good! Well, you always look good, but you know what I mean.”
I laughed and thanked him as I grabbed my keys and phone. When I turned around, Jackson was digging through my closet. Before I could ask what he was doing, he held up a black flannel. “Put this on he said. I don’t want you to get cold.” I smiled and put it on, saying bye to Allie before heading to the party with Jackson.
* * *
The house was already bustling with people by the time we arrived. I could feel my nerves getting the best of me. Jackson seemed to notice, too. He gave me hand a reassuring squeeze. “Hey, you know I’ll be there when you need me. Just find me or text me,” he said with a gentle smile.
I smiled and nodded. “Thank you,” I responded softly.
Jackson nodded. “Of course,” he said, his smile turning into a grin. “I’m sure Mark will take care of you, too.”
I rolled my eyes, my cheeks getting warm at the thought. “I barely know him.”
“Okay and? It’s obvious that he’s attracted to at the very least,” Jackson responded. I stayed silent, my cheeks getting even warmer. Jackson snickered at this, throwing his arm around my shoulder. “At least talk to him. He’s a really good guy.”
“Okay, fine,” I sighed. “I will.”
I was glad Jackson had me put the flannel on because it was so packed in the house that people were literally rubbing against each other just to squeeze by. Jackson introduced me to a few of the guys on the baseball team, then went off to be the social butterfly that he is. “Don’t forget, text me if you need anything,” he said before disappearing.
I continued to mingle a bit, talking to a few people that I had class with. Eventually, I made my way to the kitchen to get a drink. I was going to need one if I was going to be here for a while. There were coolers packed full of beer, hard seltzers and vodka, and water for when people needed to sober up a bit or for those who weren’t drinking. I grabbed a drink out of one of the coolers, twisting the top off.
I walked around, sipping on my drink and enjoying the music, despite how loud it was. I continued to talk to a few people and even met a few new people. I was actually having a pretty good time.
“(Y/N)!!!” a very familiar voice shrieked. I turned around to see Amanda scurrying over to me. She looked even more stunning than normal with her hair up in a chic bun and big hoop earrings. Amanda threw her arms around me. “AAH, I’m so glad I found you! You look so good!”
I laughed and hugged her back. “Thank you! So do you!” She thanked me, striking a pose in typical Amanda fashion. Her cheeks were a little pink from the drink in her hand. We continued to talk and laugh. “Ya know, I’m glad I sat down next you in chem on the first day. I consider you one of my best friends here.” Amanda said, as she swayed to the music, a smile on her face.
I smiled back. “Me too.”
Suddenly Amanda gasped. She pointed a perfectly manicured finger. My gaze when to were she was pointing across the room. Mark. “It’s your maaan,” she sang, a grin on her face.
I shook my head, my cheeks getting warm for the second time that night, and it wasn’t from the alcohol. I shook my head. “He’s not my man,” I said.
Amanda rolled her eyes. “Oh, come on. He clearly has a thing for you, and you definitely feel the same way. I saw you two looking at each other constantly during chem,” Amanda replied with a smirk. “Plus, frat boys are fun. Even if it’s not something serious.” Before I could respond, Amanda was calling and waving Mark over.
Mark looked at us, his eyes locking on mine. His face lit up. Excusing himself, he made his way across the room to us. It was like he was moving in slow motion. Mark looked so good with his messy hair falling in his eyes ever so slightly. He took long strides, his jeans fitting him just right. He wore his shirt unbuttoned, the white t-shirt underneath exposing just enough of his collar to let the imagination wander. I kept telling myself that somebody with a face that pretty was nothing but trouble, yet I didn’t really seem to care.
“I’m glad you guys came!” He said as he finally reached us. He looked over at me and smiled. It was different then how he smiled at others. There was a twinkle in his eyes.
“You guys did a great job on putting this party together!” Amanda exclaimed.
Mark rubbed the back of his neck shyly. “Thank you, I’m glad you guys are having a good time.”
There was small talk for a bit, until Amanda held up her now empty bottle. “I’m going to go get another and find Jackson,” she said before making her way to the kitchen and leaving Mark and I alone. Well as alone as we could be at a party.
Mark chuckled a bit. “She’s fun.” I smiled and nodded in agreement. We stood in silence for a bit. I’d never been alone with him before and didn’t exactly know what to say. I was getting that excited swirly feeling in my stomach again. “Are you actually having fun?” Mark asked suddenly, catching me off guard. He looked at me, laughing lightly when he saw the confused look on my face. “Jackson told me you don’t like parties that much.”
I made an ‘oooh’ shape with my mouth and looked down. Now I felt bad. I looked back up at Mark. His eyes met mine. They were soft and kind. “I really am,” I said, smiling at him softly.
Mark smiled back, charming and sweet as always. “Good. The last thing I’d want is for you to have a bad time.”
It was quite again. Oh my gosh, why are you so awkward, (y/n)! Mark cleared his throat. “You look really pretty,” he finally said. His voice was shy and his cheeks were a bit flushed.
I fidgeted with the ring on my finger, trying to hold back the smile that was making it’s way on my face. “Thank you,” I said, finally meeting his eyes again. “You look really good, too.”
Mark smiled and finally looked away. “I don’t think I ever asked and now that I’m thinking about it, it’s such a lame thing to ask at a party, but what’s your major?”
I giggled a bit. “Civil engineering,” I responded.” And it’s not lame. It’s an essential question in college. A person’s major says a lot about them. Mine just so happens to give away how much of a nerd I am.”
Mark grinned at this. “I guess we’re both nerds then. Mine’s chemical engineering with a minor in math.”
I laughed, grinning back at him. “Oh so you’re a super nerd. The only thing that says more about a person than their major is their minor,” I teased.
Mark laughed. It was high pitched and honey sweet. I could feel myself melting more and more with every passing second. “Yeah, you’re not wrong.”
We continued talking, about everything. He told me about baseball and how he met Jackson. Turns our Mark is a sophomore and already the star catcher for our school’s baseball team. We laughed about stories from high school and even talked about our plans for the future.
I hardly noticed how close we were to each other. We were both leaning against the wall. He was borderline hovering over me, but I didn’t mind one bit. “Okay, but what makes you happy?” he asked me.
I titled my head slightly as I looked up at him. His face was so close to mine. “What do you mean?”
Mark hummed as he thought, searching his mind for the right words. Oh, how I’d love to search the darkest corners of that beautiful mind. He smiled and finally said, “Like, what makes you feel alive?”
I thought for a bit. “I’m not totally sure, to be honest. I mean, I really like to travel. Going to San Diego with Jackson was probably one of the best times of my life.” Mark smiled at this. “What about you?”
As Mark was about to answer, he was cut off. “Maaaarrrrk,” a voice sang out. We both looked in the direction it came from. A pretty girl sauntered up to us. She had long brown hair and glowy skin. Her skirt hugged her just right. She glanced at me, annoyed, then threw her arms around Mark’s neck. I couldn’t help but notice how his hands immediately went to her waist. “Markie, baby, I’ve been looking for you aaallll night.”
Markie? Baby?
I looked between her and Mark. Instinctively, I pulled my flannel tight around me for comfort. “I’m going to go find Jackson,” I said to him, trying to hide my disappointment. Mark pushed the girl to the side lightly, but it was too late to say anything. I was already gone.
I squeezed passed people as I made my way through the house. It wasn’t hard to find Jackson. All I had to do was follow the excitement and I’d find him at the center. I could feel myself getting worked up. My stomach was tying itself in knots.
I finally spotted Jackson. He was laughing and dancing with Amanda and a few others. “(y/n)!” Jackson said, but his smile was quickly replaced by a look of concern. Him and Amanda pulled me to the side. Jackson kept an arm around me. “Hey, what’s wrong? What happened?” he asked in a gentle voice.
I told them about what happened with Mark and that girl. I don’t know why I was so upset about it, he wasn’t my boyfriend or anything after all. Still, I couldn't help but sniffle as my eyes began to water. Jackson pulled me into a hug. “Hey, hey, it’s okay,” he said. “I’ll talk to Mark next time I see him. For now, why don’t we get out of here?”
“Oh, hun, it’s going to be okay. She’s lucky I just got my nails done,” Amanda said, muttering the last part with a frown. “Boys are stupid, not offense Jackson.” Jackson feigned hurt, making me laugh a bit. “How about we go to the diner a few blocks away? We can get fries and milkshakes!”
I smiled a bit and nodded, wiping away tears with the back of my hand. Jackson kept his arm around me as we left the party, acting as a wall between Mark and I when we passed him. The three of us walked to the diner, laughing along that way.
I felt a bit better by the end of the night, but the feeling in my stomach still lingered. I was right, somebody with a face a pretty as Mark Tuan’s is nothing but trouble.

Next Part
@mara-twins
I’d let Mark Tuan fuck my life up, just sayin’. Anyway, that was part two. I’ll hopefully be able to start working on part three soon. I have two tests with week and a project that I haven’t started due on Friday. Fun Fact: Amanda is based off of my chem lab partner. Lover her bunches. Thank you for all your love and support! <3

[..Introductions..]
First Name: Robyn.
Middle Name: I don’t think I’ve shared it on here and I doubt I will.
Last Name: Not providing it either but it starts with a C.
Birthdate: April 21st.
[..First Things First..]
What was the first thing you did after you got up? I rushed to the rooftop so that I could see the sunrise. I also got in the random mood to do a time-lapse of it, but the sun took forrrrrrrr-freaking-ever to come up entirely. I was holding up my phone for like 15 minutes and nothing was happening, so I quit halfway through lol.
What was the name of your first pet? Goldie, because it was a goldfish.
Who was your first big crush? Gabie, I would say.
Where was the first place you drove after you got your license? Chelsea’s 18th birthday dinner was scheduled right after I happened to get my license, and the event took place in a small, quaint little restaurant in Marikina.
There’s a bit of a funny story here, too – Aaron needed a ride to get there and so I offered to drive him. I picked him up and we were having small talk in the car, and he asked me how long I’ve been driving. I told him that moment was my literal first time driving out and that I just got my license the day before, and he is my first-ever passenger (at that point I’ve never even tried driving solo yet). The horror and immediate distrust on his face was something I will never forget HAHAHA. We got to the place unharmed, but it’s still one of my favorite stories to tell.
Who was your very first friend? It was a kind girl named Kaye back in kindergarten. We were always next to each other in our class lists, so it was inevitable for us to befriend one another. She transferred schools in first grade and I have not seen nor heard from her since.
What was the first thing you ate today? I had another bag of salted egg chips. I’m extremely hooked, lmao.
What was your first job? I work as an associate at a PR agency.
[..Colors..]
Name something red in the room you are in: We have an unopened bottle of wine here on the dining table and there’s still a red ribbon wrapped around it.
Is orange one of your school's team colors? No, neither of my schools had orange as one of its colors.
How many yellow shirts do you own? I can think of 5 tops hanging out in my wardrobe at the moment. Two of them are class shirts from high school; the others were tops I bought when I started getting into mustard yellow.
Name someone you know who drives a green car: I believe Angel, a classmate from high school who also studies in UP, also drives a Mitsubishi Mirage, albeit a lime green one.
Is it a blue sky outside right now? Yes for the most part, but the sun is setting soon so the sky is bound to change into many pretty colors as it usually does at this time of the day.
What is the first thing that pops into your head when I say 'purple'? Barney the dinosaur, and ube.
Are the walls in the room you're in white? Yes, all our walls indoors are white.
Does black make you think of depressing things? Not always, but if used specifically in that context, it definitely helps boosts the mood.
Jewelry: gold or silver? Silverrr, always.
[..Phone Stuff..]
Who is your provider? Nothing you would be familiar with, but I use Globe.
How long have you had your current phone? It’ll be three years this year. It would be nice to upgrade, but I’m also still happy with my current phone so it doesn’t really matter to me.
What did your last text say? The last one that came through that didn’t come from my mobile services provider was from someone in the media. It was his birthday last Friday and I messaged him if he’d like to receive a gift from us, on behalf of one of our clients; he just replied with his confirmation and details.
If you woke up naked next to the last person to call, would it be awkward? Yep and I’d feel like throwing up almost immediately.
Was your last missed call male or female? It was from my mom.
Who is your 10th phone contact? It’s from Jum, who I realize is still listed as Ate Jum on my phone. That’s cute hahaha; I must have gotten her number when we weren’t super close yet. Anyway, she’s been super MIA for like the last two years...basically, ever since she graduated. I believe she has also since moved back to Bicol, so it’s become virtually impossible to see her again. Bums me out and I look forward to the day we somehow end up in the same room once again.
How did you meet them? I met her in my very first journalism major class. I had mixed feelings towards her at first since I found her to be super loud in class, and I initially thought she would only be a one-time classmate and nothing more; but I got to know her more and we even ended up as orgmates, and it turns out she is literally the most hilarious person I know.
Are you related to your 17th phone contact? I have absolutely no clue who it is. I no longer remember what led to it, but Gabie and I swapped the SIM cards in our phones at one point, and for some reason it made me have access to her contacts; the 17th contact on my phone is someone from her list. And since I never hang out in my Contacts app, I’ve never gotten around to deleting those extra numbers I received.
How long have you known your 1st phone contact? Around 6th or 7th grade. I can’t remember the exact grade level she transferred to my school as a new student.
When was the last time you saw them? It’s been at least a year. I remember seeing her on campus very briefly when I was on my way to a certain building for class, while she was walking out of it.
Who is your 4th phone contact? LMAO, again, it’s from her contact list. Said person is one of her older cousins, I believe.
Have you ever kissed that person? No, and that is very weird and uncomfortable to think about.
When was the last time someone drunk dialed/texted/left a voicemail? Andi drunk messaged me a few months ago. November, I think.
[..Friends..]
Who is your #1? No Myspace but I’d say my top best friend is Angela.
How long have you known them? It will be 16 years this year.
Have you ever kissed? Oh my gosh, hell no. It would be like kissing a sister haha. She’s super affectionate and will sometimes kiss my shoulder or cheek, though.
Are you dating this person? No, never did and never desired to.
Do you have nicknames for each other? Not really exclusive to each other, but I call her Anj (and only a few people call her so) and she will occasionally call me Reben or Rolayn, both from past inside jokes.
What is your #2's full name? I am not sharing that, but I refer to them as Andi (you may remember them as Andrew from the past times I’ve mentioned them).
Do they live within 20 minutes of you? If there is zero traffic, I can probably make it to their place within that timeframe, yeah. But realistically, no they don’t.
How did you meet? We initially met in an anti-Marcos protest/rally – I approached they first because they had a wrestling shirt on, heheh – and that’s when I learned we were from the same college. But they rubbed me off the wrong way from our first meeting as they were too extroverted for my liking, and I spent a good chunk of time ignoring him whenever we crossed paths, lmfao. Eventually we were put in the same class at some point, and they even joined my org, and an intensely close friendship started from there.
Could you live with this person? Sure. I think they would never be a boring roommate.
Who is your #3? I’m gonna go with Kate for this one.
Where are they right now? I have no idea. We don’t really catch up with each other’s lives on a regular basis; we have a very chill, low-maintenance friendship.
When is this person's birthday? January 1st.
Has this person ever seen you naked? I don’t think so.
What is your #4's full name? I don’t think I have a 4th-tier best friend haha, but I’m gonna pick Tina.
When did you last see them? Last year, on the last normal day I was able to be on campus. She was set to present one of her projects at a journalism conference that was taking place in campus that day, but I was able to hang out with her for a short time before the event.
Have they ever dated one of your other friends? No. I knew she had a crush on someone from the college, though.
Do you know their favorite movie? I’m not sure about her favorite movie but I do know she loves Adam Sandler. I was never able to figure out if her interest was ironic or genuine but yeah, she enjoys a good number of his works.
[..Randomosity..]
What time is it? 6:20 PM.
Are you supposed to be doing something other than this? I wouldn’t say so. I do have deliverables for work but since it’s the weekend, I’m not thinking about them nor do I have the desire to touch those tasks until Monday.
Do you live on your own or with your parents? I live with my family. Considering my monthly income, it’d be close to impossible to sustain myself in my own place this early in my adult life.
Are you more of a cat or a dog person? Dog, for sure.
Are you allergic to anything? I don’t believe so.
Does your shirt have anything written on it? Yeah, it says “UP Fighting Maroons” styled in a varsity font since that’s the term for our sports team.
Have you ever tie-dyed something? I have, but only back in like Grade 6 when we had to do it for a home ec class. I remember wanting to buy a tie-dye set recently so I could revisit the activity, but I never got around to it.
Who can you always count on to cheer you up? Angela for the most part; but I also don’t want to be too reliant on my friends in this way. Sometimes I simply allow myself to be sad or upset, and sometimes I count on myself to cheer up.
How many places have you been today? I have been nowhere but at home today lol. I’ll be going to BGC tomorrow to have lunch with my godfather and my cousins, though.
Are you a forgiving person? No.
When was the last time you felt let down? Last night when I read the news that the government will be making All Souls’ Day, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve working days this year. I already know I’ll be half-assing my way through those days lmao because whyyyyyyy the fuck would you make people work on family-centric holidays such as those
What is the title of the nearest book to you? There are no books here at the rooftop.
Are you wearing anything that belongs to someone else? Nope.
Can you whistle? Only through my lips. I can’t do the kind of whistle where you put your fingers in your mouth as well.
Do you look more like your mother or your father? My mom.
Are you still in high school? I’m well past that chapter.
Are you the oldest, middle, youngest, or an only child? I’m the eldest.
Has anyone ever told you that you talk in your sleep? No, because I don’t.
How many people have you kissed this year? None.
Is there anyone of the opposite sex you trust fully? Hmm, no one comes to mind.
Are you a night owl or an early bird? More of a night owl.
If you could have an exotic pet, what would it be? No thanks. I’ve never had the desire to have one.
Would you rather go to Brazil for the weekend or Finland for a month? I’d have to go with Finland. I feel like the cultural differences would be a lot more marked, plus the vacation is longer so that is an instant win for me.
[..And Finally..]
Where did you go the last time you drove somewhere? I was driving to the local coffee shop to spend some time with myself, and do a liiiiiiiittle bit of work as well.
Where did you last go out to eat at? Ramen Nagi. I was initially hesitant to show up there and ask for a table for one on a Sunday evening...but it turned out to feel incredibly empowering and freeing. It was definitely awkward at first, but it got a lot easier once I realized literally no one gives a fuck. Or if they did, they didn’t do anything about it and let me mind my own business. That evening was a crucial step in reclaiming my happiness, so I’m glad I made the choice to suck it up and enter the restaurant.
When was the last time you let someone borrow something from you? Last week, when Angela needed our abaca mat as an aesthetic for her grad shoot.
Was your last breakup a bad one? Yes.
What was the last song you listened to? Just checked my Spotify and the current song I have on pause is Descansos by Hayley Williams.
What was the last movie you watched? Midsommar.
Did your last kiss happen in a public place? Not technically, but it did take place outside of my house so we were outdoors for some neighbors to see.
How did you meet the last person to leave you a comment? It was Andi, and I already explained how we met earlier in this survey.

Mailing chocolates, it seemed, was too impersonal. The Japanese tradition was to give them in person, was it not? And as a surprise, at that. That left Sonia with only one option. She would have to give Ryuji the Valentine’s Day treats she’d arranged herself and with little explanation as to why she needed to meet him that day. Hopefully, he wouldn’t ask too many questions about why she wanted to meet in one of Shibuya’s parks, as opposed to the usual convenience stores and inexpensive restaurants they often visited. She didn’t think it was right to bring such gifts to a dining establishment and she certainly couldn’t visit his home. Thankfully, Haru had been a wonderful help correcting the Princess of Novoselic some of the cultural implications that, at home, would have been a non-issue.
“I hope this wasn’t too terribly inconvenient for you, and I’m not sure if you even like these really,” Sonia began, surprising herself by dancing around the point she was trying to make. At least she spoke clearly and smiled through it all. “But I hope you accept these Valentine’s Day chocolates. Happy Valentine’s Day, Ryuji-san!”
Inside the golden yellow box and coordinating bow, rows of pyramid-shaped dark chocolate candies and round milk chocolate truffles were neatly arranged. The dark chocolates were filled with dark chocolate ganache and liquid fondant to be tiny lava chocolates that would ooze upon biting past the outer shell. But the milk chocolates were filled with chocolate-hazelnut filling, far less messy, and rolled in crushed macadamia nuts. “I remember you telling me about your class trip to Hawaii, the one you seemed to quite enjoy with your friends! I’ve never been myself, but I thought a chocolate volcano and macadamia nuts might remind you of a wonderful time.”
___________________________
☠ - Time managed to bleed through his hands despite a shift of a holiday, hardly slowing, rather, keeping that same pace of trickling sands while he pushed through his training on this day. Motivation and a return to old form blew the blonde’s mind in ways he could’ve of perceived. So what better day to productively blow all that energy than at the gym? Through the help of his old coach and upperclassmen by the name of Ikeda, a regimen that remains rigorous, reward and perfect for warding off the rust across his body’s specifics was the goal for this Valentine’s day.
Gaining a small bounty of friendship chocolate had been a unforeseen boon that only made him double down. Seeing the smiling faces of those knuckleheads had been too much of a damn treat not to do anything less. (Taking Yusuke out to get a good meal as a miniature get-together had also fit into that equation.)
If only he could’ve known why Haru kept such a doting voice of knowing in her town. Ryuji simply brushed it off as a means of her being jovial in the atmosphere, enjoying the time no different than he had.
One text message however completely altered the route of his plans like a fork in the river. Business was business and his partners at the gym kindled a brand of training related friendship. So of course knowing the season, there he was being tacked on out with a number of teases, especially seeing how February serves as the season for some to shoot their shot, couples to get more couple-y, while some managed to romanticize facets of romance to make the world look a touch more sunshine and rainbows.
‘Too bad’ that with a huff and a laugh, he’d call them all some bastards after he freshened up, changed, and rolled out back to the busy streets. Like a bolt amidst a mass of sky,. he’s nimble and dedicated to his beeline, wading his way through the day filled with either saturated hopes or the jaded atmosphere as Inokashira Park remains the place to meet with a girl who’s pleasantly been in his thoughts. Just thinking of a touch of their previous ventures makes a chuckle rumble in his chest.
Oh yeah. There sure as hell was a good deal of memories they’ve made since their arrangement while having a blooming friendship.
“Yo, Sonia!” His cheerful voice would soon call as the scenery of an opened sky is replaced with the natural roofing of branches and trees. That had caught her attention, leading to them catching eyes and suddenly having her.. look a touch bashful? Or maybe that skittered in his imagination. Just being met with a soft nod while she balanced something in her hands was a little weird? Here he was much more adjusted to a upbeat prestige or the excitable questions to explore a world that cast refined inclination to the side.
”My bad it took me a lil longer than usual to hop on the scene here.” He begins, grunting in distaste at his tardiness. “The short notice caught me att middle up at the gymmmm-- ah ah, not that it’s a big deal or anything!” That definitely had to be set once she made mentions of inconvenience! Heading out for someone he cares for always had a priority even if there were routine plans for a day. ...And now that he’s getting a better look at this whole situation. Wasn’t that introduction of her’s a touch too kind while she swayed a bit in her spot? Once their eyes met with a gentle glare of sunlight remaining in between, the answer soon arrives, dressed up in an ornate box that makes his eyes pop open a deal wider while unceremoniously dropping that duffel bag of his to the ground.
Unexpected? Unexpected. Somehow that mind of his couldn’t translate the moment at hand while his eyes shoot open like saucers at the ornate box she presents between them both! Seeing that particular design as if she plucked this from the lap of luxury... That made the ticker within his chest speed on up, for real. ‘Wha wha wha.. Whoa! Hold on! Am I seein’ this right!? I.. She had plans of hauling some of these to me?! People usually just roll these out in the hand bags! But this.. I-’ Any other thoughts failed to meet the mark of coherency as he could only stop, stare, and just drink in the view of that familiar smile and the presented box set before him.
Soon a pair of mildly shaky hands would come to take it. No longer was it the aftermath of a good workout that supplied such heat, nor the hot shower taken before making his way on down here. The act in offering this gift itself had burned a fuzzy brand of energy through him while his fingers braced upon the box and drew it a touch closer. Naturally too curious for his own good, this led him to a world of intricate design, for chocolate of all the damn things! Being a more modest and moderate fan had left him ignorant to the designs outside of chocolate bars to bats and eyes on the Halloween days.
Seeing the spread while hearing the story began to tack so many of the pieces together. Antsy thoughts were quelled by the truth of her intentions, the inspiration as to why they’re designed this way and kindness shuffled into each and every one. Had she really been thinking that deeply over one of their past times while getting this fixed up?
So to see Sonia place that much care into him causes a soft sensation to well up as the dominate point of feeling. Settled upon his face was a genuine look of contentment swirled together with a touch of gratitude. “You.. Really went through a damn lot, huh? I mean.. Look at these! So frickin’ cool and designed like people draw with chocolate!” His enthusiasm instantly takes the charge while he glosses over them, taking a touch longer to notice how the play of positioning also added to that! This for sure got a ‘Yoooooooooooo!’ strained from his lips as his eyes instantly sparkled with joy.
”Almost doesn’t make me wanna eat ‘em.. Almost! Maybe I can keep a few for a touch longer and..” Noticing that his delight might’ve had him going on a small tangent made him a touch self-conscious, causing him to seize up while a soft laughter escapes from him. If it wasn’t clear from his expression alone within their momentary getaway of the park’s atmosphere, Ryuji here was really pleased with the gift. ..To the point that somehow the whole Valentine aspect hadn’t reigned as the highest mark of importance.
Spending some more time with her instinctively feels like the best bet in his eye. Taking good care in the way he closes the box, the dropped bag is quickly swiped up before he makes a charged point to one of the sites of scenery appreciating seating off to the side.
“In that case! You sure as hell unlocked a route to some more funny stories! C’mon- how about we try some of these together while we kick back for a while?”
....
“Oh and uh.” This much would be said as they pressed off to the selected spot. “Happy Valentines Day to ya too, Sonia. Thanks for this..”
Today would be another one filled with fun promise.

MYSTIC POP-UP BAR REVIEW
• Introduction to the Drama
GIST:
Mystic Pop-Up Bar or 쌍갑포차 is about Weolju (played by Hwang Jung Eum), a spirit who is being punished by the heavens because of a mistake she made 500 years ago. To not end up in hell, she was offered to resolve the problems of 100,000 people and help them let go of their grudges. She opened up a cart bar where she hears the stories of her customers and help them out by visiting them in their dreams. Guibanjang or Manager Gwi (played by Choi Won Young) was sent to help her manage the cart bar. A month before Weolju's deadline, they met Kangbae (played by Yook Sung Jae), a customer service employer who can make people spill their problems and worries by being touched.
This drama is based on a popular web-comic Twin Tops Bar by Bae Hye-soo.
Hwang Jung Eum's last drama was in 2018 which made this drama her comeback. She is a Romantic-Comedy queen who is well known for her roles in She Was Pretty, Kill Me, Heal Me and Lucky Romance.
Yook Sung Jae is a member of the K-pop boy group Born to Beat or simply BtoB. He's famous for his roles in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God / Goblin and Who Are You: School 2015 (I still can't get over my second lead syndrome in this drama. I am Team Go Tae Kwang).
Choi Won Young was also in Kill Me, Heal Me with Hwang Jung Eum. He's been on many dramas like Hyena which was aired recently, Sky Castle and While You Were Sleeping. He also appeared a lot on the big screen.
• The Experience
When I watched the the trailer, it felt odd because it resembles Hotel Del Luna a lot. Even though, this kind of plot is already common among Korean series, the familiar setting, symbolism and elements are what made me think of Hotel Del Luna in particular. But no, Mystic Pop-Up Bar is not based on Hotel Del Luna at all because the web-comic was published in 2016, years ago before it aired on TV.
Here are some similarities and differences the two dramas have that I found:
1. Both the female leads are being punished for their sins and mistakes hundreds of years ago.
2. Both the female leads' goal is to help their customers resolve their problems. The difference is that Jang Man Wol focuses on the dead so they can ascend to heaven while Weolju helps both the living and the dead by entering their dreams.
3. Koo Chan Sung and Han Kang Bae. Both of these young and innocent men appeared to help resolve their cases.
4. The tree! The tree plays a vital role in both dramas.
5. The place of their business. Jang Man Wol has a fancy hotel that serves as a resting place for the dead while Weolju has a cart bar for people who have worries in life.
These are just some of my observations. I'm not implying anything. Both dramas have their own uniqueness.
Going back to my experience, I can say it was pretty good. I was actually busy these days, even so, I was still able to binge-watch the drama. I thought I wouldn't be able to catch up but I ended up watching more episodes whenever I finish one. It was a pretty short one since it only has 12 episodes so it was fast to watch. I finished it in 4 days (I started watching 2 days before the release of 11th episode), which was understandable considering I am busy and also binge-watching other dramas.
• Points that I Liked About the Drama
1. It is easy to watch because it is light, quirky, and funny. Almost every episode is fun to watch but not to the point where you are gonna mistake the genre for comedy. It is not overdone. The scenes and their funny dialogues are what I enjoyed the most.
2. The flow of the story was just right for me. It's not exhausting to watch. Some dramas were hard to watch at a particular time. For instance, boring ones are hard to watch in the afternoon because it makes me sleepy so I prefer watching fast paced aka. exhausting ones in the afternoon. However, with Mystic Pop-Up Bar, I can watch it anytime of the day.
3. The characters are likable. I loved the trio. Even the supporting ones are warm and endearing. Sometimes I would even look for them in some episodes, specially Samsin, the conception dream provider and Kang Yeo Rin, Kang Bae's love interest.
4. Not emotionally draining. I had worries when I watched the first episode. "What if it becomes too emotional whenever they help someone?" Not really. I don't even remember crying. Dramas with plots like this, Hotel Del Luna for example, it drained me a lot that I ran out of tissues to wipe my tears. That's not a bad thing at all, it only means it has impact. It's just that with Mystic Pop-Up Bar, I watched it at a time when I am already physically drained. So far it was bearable. And it feels more fresh that way. (Sorry, I keep comparing the 2 dramas).
5. I like its uniqueness. They showed some afterlife scenarios that are really interesting. One example is the way they deliberate when a person dies, whether you'll get reincarnated or turned in an insect. Another is the afterlife Olympics. It's a really funny episode.
6. There is a theme for every episode/ every case. For instance, the food that they serve for the day has a connection to their client. One more example is when they had a Romeo and Juliet theme for a client who is a writer. They even paid attention to details like this which was fun and appreciative.
7. So Chan Whee's guest appearance! I literally jumped when she appeared out of nowhere.
• Points that I Didn't Like About the Drama
1. Predictable scenes. Not everything, though. Maybe just half of it. Especially the first few episodes when the story revolves mostly on the people who have issues that needed to be resolved. Mainly because, as I already mentioned, dramas like this are already common.
2. It got a little weird when it was almost ending. There are sudden appearances that didn't seem important at all. Their timing of appearance seems off as well.
3. The motive of Kim Won Hyung was not that convincing for me. He just annoyed me but I didn't see him as the main villain.
• The Ending
I did not have high expectations when I started to watch the drama. I told myself that I will not get disappointed if the ending feels rushed because that's usually the case with short dramas.
The ending was fine, though. There were unexpected turn of events which I found interesting and made me nod my head and say "Ohhhh, that's why!" Even though the conclusion was lacking a bit, I didn't regret watching it since I had a good time.
I didn't cry while watching the entire drama but started tearing a little the moment I realized it already ended. When Dive by Jung Jin Woo started playing along with some scenarios from different episodes, I felt a little sad. I will miss the characters for sure.
However, just like other dramas, I had a lot of issues with this drama, too. Don't worry, these "issues" are mostly just observations, uncertainties and questions I have because sometimes, I get out of focus and I get confused, too. I will mention them below on the issues section which you should skip if you want to avoid spoilers!
• Final Thoughts
Would I watch it again? No.
Would I recommend it? Yes. I would recommend Mystic Pop-Up Bar to those who like light and funny dramas. This is also a good drama for those who just casually watch dramas and those who are beginning to explore the K-Drama world.
I am giving Mystic Pop-Up Bar a 7/10.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
• Issues (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!)
1. The queen or the crown prince's mother's appearance and her remembering her past life is too sudden. It seems off and too convenient. She died fast, too. And her death was awful.
2. The group of evil thugs at the last episode. When did Kim Won Hyung gather all those spirits? That was so weird.
3. If Won Hyung could change his face as revealed in the last episode when he pretended to be Weolju, why did he bother possess his father in the previous episodes if he could just change into anyone he likes? So he could prevent his father and him meeting the same people at the same time?
4. For Weolju to not be sent to hell after knowing who Cinnabar is, Guibanjang made it so easy. Just a quick negotiations with Yeomradaewang and everything is smooth once again.
5. Did Yeorin figure out that they are not CIA agents after all? LOL. And where did she go after fighting the weird thugs during the last episode?
And that concludes my Mystic Pop-Up Bar review! I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing this. I hope my personal thoughts and insights were helpful at all.
To more K-Drama Reviews! Cheers!
